Moonbat Meltdown

Over a quarter million dollars raised in donations under the pretense of being a 501C3 non-profit organization when they actually hadn’t even applied and now the money has somehow managed to disappear - while the Sheehag jet-sets around the world to France, Korea, Venezuela and all points in between.. Do you smell a rat? I smell a rat. Lots of rats. Greedy rats. Attention-hungry rats. Whining, crying, bloviating loser rats. Whose fifteen minutes of fame are about to run out in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ...

Crawford Peace House Hit by Strife
CRAWFORD, TX (AP) - Saturday, April 7, 2007

imageimageWith allegations of money mismanagement, threats of court action and some members leaving, a group that has sponsored war protests in President Bush’s adopted hometown has been anything but peaceful.

The Crawford Peace House recently lost its corporate charter with the state, and a former member who now has rights to the name is threatening legal action because the group continues operating.

Sara L. Oliver and some others are calling for a state investigation as to why only $14,700 is now in its bank account, saying tens of thousands donated during Cindy Sheehan’s 2005 war protest are unaccounted for.

“There are people who have said, `Don’t say anything because you’ll hurt the peace movement,’” Oliver said. “But if the peace movement isn’t pure and transparent and holy as it can be at its heart, then it’s just like George Bush: lying, thieving, conniving, backstabbing bastards.”

John Wolf, who co-founded the Crawford Peace House in 2003 in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom white-clapboard house just across the railroad tracks from downtown, denied allegations of wrongdoing. He said the claims were by only a few people and would not hurt the work of the Crawford Peace House, which is planning a fourth anniversary celebration Sunday.

He said the Peace House has an accountant and has kept diligent records, which soon will be posted in its Web site. He said most of the $285,000 raised in 2005 was spent on food, van and bus rentals, gas and a large tent for the rallies at several events.

Bush Critic Sheehan Blasts US Democrats
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Apr 6 05:36 PM US/Eastern

Prominent Iraq war opponent Cindy Sheehan urged US President George W. Bush on Friday to “end this madness” and accused his Democratic foes of having “betrayed” their anti-war supporters.

Sheehan, whose soldier son Casey was killed in Iraq, planned to lead dozens of protesters to a security checkpoint near Bush’s Texas ranch and read out names of US dead in Iraq using a bullhorn.

“Our message is: Today is Good Friday, when Jesus Christ was killed by the Roman Empire. He rose again on Sunday, came back to life. But our loved ones won’t be coming home” from Iraq, she told reporters.

The protesters will tell Bush “to end this madness for our families,” said Sheehan, who took a tough line against Democrats who harnessed anger at the Iraq war to recapture the US Congress in November.

“They got there and they betrayed the grass roots that put them back there,” she said. “We can’t depend on the Democrats.”

Vista System

I’ve been promising to give you some tips if you want to run Windows Vista and get all the new features working at blazing fast speed for as little cost as possible. What I will be describing below is one monster system and it all fits in a tiny1 foot by 2 foot case that you can easily hide under your desk.

First, you need to start out with the microATX case shown below from Ultra. It’s a small box but everything can be squeezed into it with little or no trouble. I like it because it is compact, easily disassembled and well ventilated.

Second, you need a power supply that is SLI ready (I’ll explain that later) and with enough power to handle everything we’re going to put into this box. The Ultra comes with a 400W power supply which is the bare minimum we need and it is not SLI ready - so the first thing we do is snatch out the power supply that comes in the case (three screws and it’s out) and replace it with the Ultra X-Finity 500W power supply shown below.

Third, we need to add a motherboard to this little case. There are about eight screws that mount the motherboard onto precisely laid out spacers in the bottom of the case. You can’t get them wrong. The motherboard fits nicely on top of the spacers and you simply screw it down with the provided screws. Plug in the power supply to the motherboard in the special ATX power supply connector on the board. You can’t miss it. It’s a big molex connector at the front of the motherboard. Just plug in the power supply (it’s keyed to only plug in one way so you can’t get it wrong).

Fourth, we need to add our CPU. I have chosen the top of the line AMD 64-bit Athlon 2.60GHz Dual-Core beastie. Follow the instructions carefully to insert it into the CPU socket on the motherboard (there are markings to tell you which way to orient it), lock it in with the locking bar and finally clip on the provided heat sink (which already has silicon heat sink compound on the bottom, so no messy gunk to play with). Make sure it is firmly seated and oriented the correct way before proceeding.

Fifth, next we have to add memory to our creature so it can remember stuff. Again, I have chosen top of the line DDR2, dual-channel, 800MHz memory. It doesn’t get any better than that. The two DIMM sticks are keyed to go into the slots only one way and the slots have locking bars at the ends. Make sure you have inserted them properly and locked them down. You now have 2GB of RAM and room to upgrade to 4GB later if you wish. More than enough for Windows Vista Ultimate.

Sixth, you need a hard drive to store all the goodies and with today’s multimedia deluge you need a big hard drive. I have chosen the Seagate 750GB SATA drive which is plenty enough for now. The hard drive cage that comes with the case has space for two SATA hard drives so you can add another later if you really need 1.5 TERABYTES. Simply remove the cage from the case (one screw), install the hard drive in the cage (four screws), mount the cage back in the case and connect the hard drive power cable and data cable. They are plainly marked on the motherboard and only go in one way.

Seventh, of course no system is complete without a DVD/CD drive and I have chosen the Sony because it is a burner as well as a reader so you can create your own DVD’s or CD’s. This model handles both single-layer DVD’s (4.7GB) and dual-layer DVD’s (8GB). It is also fast. Mount it into one of the two 5.25” drive bays in the front. Four screws is all it takes. Connect the power and data cables (use IDE0 primary - marked on motherboard).

Eighth (and last) we install the one critical component that will give you all the bells and whistles of the new Vista Aero video display and DirectX 10 for awesome video and really cool game play. The motherboard has a built-in video chip and a VGA port on the back but it is not nearly powerful enough to give us the rich video that a dual-GPU (graphics processing unit) SLI (scalable Link Interface) can give us. The geForce 8800 video adapter I have chosen is the most expensive component in our system and darn well worth it. It is PCI Express, blazingly fast and takes two adapter slots because it is actually two video adapters in one.

Of course you’ll still need to shell out a few hundred bucks to get a really cool LCD monitor if you wish and Micro$oft will tag you for $200-$400 for Vista but this is the basic system you need to enjoy all the bells and whistles in the new operating system from Micro$oft. The prices I’ve quoted below are all from TigerDirect (except the motherboard), an online computer shopping store. They have great prices and a good reputation. You may be able to beat some of these prices if you shop around a little. Prices may fluctuate over the next few months and will drop significantly by Fall (as they always do - first adopters always pay more than those who wait a little while).

If anyone out there has any suggestions to improve this little system drop some shopping goodness on us in the comments. There are bargains out there. Shop around. Let me know what you think. Enjoy your new system and don’t forget to bookmark this web site as soon as you get it up and running. Hehehe ...

P.S. You may have noticed that I did not include a floppy drive. Who in heck needs one nowadays anyway? If you insist, the case has a special mounting point just below the 5.25” drive bays. You can pick up a 3.5” floppy drive at CompUSA or Best Buy for about $10, complete with cables.

P.P.S. If you’re wondering how you’re going to get audio from this box, I kept that for a surprise. The Gigabyte motherboard has a built-in RealTek 6-channel audio system that is top of the line. Surround sound plugs for six speakers are all on the back of the motherboard. All you need is speakers.

P.P.S. The motherboard also has gigabit LAN built-in so you can connect to a network right out of the box, along with plenty of USB and firewire ports for external goodies.

Arrest Her!

I think three years in a federal pen would do Madam Shrieker a lot of good. Go ahead, Mr. President. Arrest her when she arrives back from her “diplomacy tour”. If you don’t then you will not be upholding the law. JUST DO IT, DAMMIT!

Logan Act - 18 U.S.C. § 953 (Passed: 1799, Last Amended: 1994)

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

Illegal Diplomacy
Did Nancy Pelosi commit a felony when she went to Syria?
-- BY ROBERT F. TURNER
(WSJ - OPINION JOURNAL) - Friday, April 6, 2007 11:30 a.m. EDT

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may well have committed a felony in traveling to Damascus this week, against the wishes of the president, to communicate on foreign-policy issues with Syrian President Bashar Assad. The administration isn’t going to want to touch this political hot potato, nor should it become a partisan issue. Maybe special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, whose aggressive prosecution of Lewis Libby establishes his independence from White House influence, should be called back.

The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, “without authority of the United States,” to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that government’s behavior on any “disputes or controversies with the United States.” Some background on this statute helps to understand why Ms. Pelosi may be in serious trouble.

President John Adams requested the statute after a Pennsylvania pacifist named George Logan traveled to France in 1798 to assure the French government that the American people favored peace in the undeclared “Quasi War” being fought on the high seas between the two countries. In proposing the law, Rep. Roger Griswold of Connecticut explained that the object was, as recorded in the Annals of Congress, “to punish a crime which goes to the destruction of the executive power of the government. He meant that description of crime which arises from an interference of individual citizens in the negotiations of our executive with foreign governments.”

The debate on this bill ran nearly 150 pages in the Annals. On Jan. 16, 1799, Rep. Isaac Parker of Massachusetts explained, “the people of the United States have given to the executive department the power to negotiate with foreign governments, and to carry on all foreign relations, and that it is therefore an usurpation of that power for an individual to undertake to correspond with any foreign power on any dispute between the two governments, or for any state government, or any other department of the general government, to do it.”

Griswold and Parker were Federalists who believed in strong executive power. But consider this statement by Albert Gallatin, the future Secretary of the Treasury under President Thomas Jefferson, who was wary of centralized government: “it would be extremely improper for a member of this House to enter into any correspondence with the French Republic . . . As we are not at war with France, an offence of this kind would not be high treason, yet it would be as criminal an act, as if we were at war.” Indeed, the offense is greater when the usurpation of the president’s constitutional authority is done by a member of the legislature--all the more so by a Speaker of the House--because it violates not just statutory law but constitutes a usurpation of the powers of a separate branch and a breach of the oath of office Ms. Pelosi took to support the Constitution.

What do you think all those lovely, young Russian ladies want to do after a hard winter all cooped up and freezing?

If you guessed they want to throw off all those heavy coats and clothes and go play in the fields and gather flowers ... then you’d probably be right.

Oh, my! Я думаю влюбленность I вы, камрад.

Don’t Hide That Gun!

Since Britain outlawed possession of firearms a few years back crime has jumped nearly 400%. Not satisfied with that milestone British legislators have now decided to enact even tougher legislation to keep honest citizens from having firearms for personal protection. Rumor has it that they hope to have crime increase another 400% by years end. At this rate there won’t be any honest citizens left in Britain five years from now. They will all be dead or gone to other countries to live. Sad, but true ...

Gun-Minding Offence Introduced
(BBC) - Friday, 6 April 2007, 12:18 GMT 13:18 UK

Getting someone to hide a weapon from the police has become an offence under measures brought forward after a spate of gang-related shootings. Ministers say the act gives police throughout the UK strong powers to tackle gun and knife-related violence. Adults who use children to hide guns will face up to 10 years in prison.

Other powers coming into force on Friday under the Violent Crime Reduction Act target mobile phone and alcohol-related crime. The new weapon-minding measures mean that it is now an offence to get others to carry or hide guns and knives. They aim to target gang members who seek to avoid prosecution by getting other people to hide their weapons.

Those found guilty of using children to hide firearms face a sentence of up to 10 years and those using minors to mind knives will face up to four years in prison. People using other adults will face a maximum jail sentence of five years. At the same time, the range of offences for which an offender can be given a mandatory minimum five-year sentence is being extended beyond just simple possession of a banned firearm.

The sentence will now apply to offences including:

* Possession of firearm with intent to injure
* Possession of firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
* Carrying a firearm in a public place
* Trespassing in a building with firearm

Through The Looking Glass

image

“The Other Iraq”

I came across this picture in the photo gallery of the Washington Post’s “Today In Photos” for April 6. I had to just sit and stare at it for several minutes. I couldn’t help but think what a contrast this idyllic setting with children playing and their parents resting in the sun in Baghdad’s al-Zawraa public park is with the normal images we get from the media in Iraq.

My first thought was “Hey! This can’t be Central Command propaganda as the anti-war activists would probably claim! This came from the Washington Post, of all places.” My second thought was “Why don’t we see more of these pictures?”

I’m sure the terrorists and murdering thugs who are killing people in Iraq ever day make moments like this few and far between but would it hurt to actually show pictures like this to (a) show Americans that life is starting to return to normal in Iraq and (b) show the terrorists they are losing the battle?

I know. Stupid question. The lamestream media will have none of it since the defeat of American troops, the failure of democracy in Iraq and subsequent humiliation of President Bush is more important to them.

I wish these people well. Enjoy the beautiful springtime weather while you can. It will get better if we stick to our goals. Peace be upon you all.

Lost!

Now here is a really great base to get lost over. We’re in CONUS again and over the East Coast somewhere. The tower says it is a chilly 48 degrees down there on the ground right now and they respectfully ask that I get my ass out of the way as there seems to be a flight of F-22A “Raptors” on approach. If I had to choose which USAF base I wanted to be stationed at, this base would be in the top five. It is headquarters for a major command (MAJCOM). Where am I?

The Bad News

Yesterday was a day of mixed blessings for our Brit friends and allies. The Iranians finally released the 15 hostages they had been holding for nearly a week but in southern Iraq two female British soldiers were killed when the vehicle they were riding in was hit by an explosive device almost certainly provided by Iran to Shiite insurgents in Iraq.

These EFP’s (explosively formed projectiles) are coming into Iraq from outside and Iran is the only country in the region known to use them. I don’t understand why Iran hasn’t been bombed back into the Stone Age by now. What are we waiting for? Hand me the Big Red Button™. I’ll gladly push it if no one else will and send the Mad Mullahs and Ahmawhackjob to greet Allah. It’s overdue.

Outrage As Two Female Soldiers Die In Basra
BASRA (TELEGRAPH-UK) - 1:22am BST 06/04/2007

imageimageTwo women were among four soldiers killed in Basra yesterday in an unprecedented day for the Army in Iraq. The women, a nurse and a member of the Intelligence Corps, were in a party of four patrolling the southern Iraq city in the early hours.

The Warrior armoured vehicle in which they were travelling was torn apart by a “colossal” bomb. A fifth soldier was “very seriously injured” and is being treated in the military hospital in Basra.

Iraqis were pictured waving one of the soldiers’ battered helmets while children held aloft fragments of the shattered vehicle collected as trophies.

The nurse, from Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, was the patrol’s medic. The men were from the 2Bn The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment. A civilian interpreter was also killed. The patrol was returning to its base in Basra air station after providing protection for a “strike operation” that had seen British forces arrest a man said to be a senior member of the insurgency.

There have now been five female fatalities out of the 140 British dead in Iraq since the 2003 invasion. In a war with no front line in the traditional sense, the 18,000 women in the Armed Forces are increasingly finding themselves in the fighting as medics, signallers and in logistics crews.

Yesterday, Mr Blair contrasted rejoicing at the release of the sailors and Royal Marines by Iran with the “sober and ugly reality” of the killings in Iraq. The Prime Minister also appeared to link Iran to the attacks.

“There are elements at least of the Iranian regime that are backing, financing, arming, terrorism in Iraq,” he said outside No 10. It is becoming increasingly apparent that Iran is playing a major role in fomenting the insurgency in southern Iraq by providing terrorists with bombs and advanced technical knowledge.

The Warrior armoured vehicle was ripped apart by a device known as an “explosively formed projectile”. The bombs are being used with increasing frequency in Iraq and have accounted for many American armoured vehicles and tanks.

Mike Lester - Rome (GA) News-Tribune

BRUSSELS, April 3 (RIA Novosti) - The government of Belgium’s French-speaking region of Wallonia, which has a population of about 4 million, has approved a tax on barbequing, local media reported.

Experts said that between 50 and 100 grams of CO2, a so-called greenhouse gas, is emitted during barbequing. Beginning June 2007, residents of Wallonia will have to pay 20 euros for a grilling session.

The local authorities plan to monitor compliance with the new tax legislation from helicopters, whose thermal sensors will detect burning grills.
