Click! And Now It’s Spring
The flowers that bloom in the spring,
Tra la,
Breathe promise of merry sunshine —
As we merrily dance and we sing,
Tra la,
We welcome the hope that they bring,
Tra la,
If the deer haven’t eaten them all,
If the deer haven’t eaten them all.
And that’s what we mean when we say that a thing
Is welcome as flowers that bloom in the spring.
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la,
If the deer haven’t eaten them all.
The tulips and the daffodils started to open up the day before yesterday. You can see where the deer have been nibbling on them left and right. No, not nibbling. Chowing down on the leaves and decapitating the buds. The bastiges. Like tree rats, deer are all members of ISIS. Terrorists with fur.
I think next year I’m going to plant claymore land mines and machine guns.

Twisted Justice Reason For Iranian Piracy
Get a load of this latest al-bullshizz ...
Iran: Debt must be cleared before Maersk vessel is released
Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization has informed that Maersk Tigris was detained after a court issued a verdict against Maersk in a case concerning debt to Iranian company Pars Talaie.
So some kind of outstanding debt justifies using the Iranian Navy as pirates, seizing a cargo ship through force of arms? Are we dealing with 4 year olds here?
Iran has claimed that it seized the ship because of a business conflict with the Maersk shipping company. Maersk Line, however, urged the Iranians to release the crew and ship as soon as possible, since they are affiliated with Rickmers Ship Management.
“The crew is not employed by Maersk Line, nor is the vessel owned by Maersk Line. Maersk Tigris and its crew are thus not in any way party to the case, which presumably is the reason behind the seizure of Maersk Tigris,” the shipping company said in a statement.
Maersk Line also said the crew is “safe and in good spirits.”
The conflict over cargo that likely prompted Iran to intercept the ship dates back to 2005, the Maersk Line statement says. Maersk Line transported 10 containers to Dubai for an Iranian company, but when they were not collected after 90 days, they were disposed of, in accordance with laws in the United Arab Emirates.
“The Iranian company subsequently accused Maersk Line of default before the Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office and claimed recovery of $4 million as the value of the cargo. We challenged the suit successfully and in 2007 the case was dismissed,” the statement said.
So the shipping company is at fault because the buyer didn’t come and pick up his merchandise (and presumably didn’t pay for it either)? That’s pretty inane. Kind of a “shotgun” lawsuit; fling shit everywhere and see where it sticks? Of course the shipper was innocent. Get a grip.
The Iranian company then pressed civil charges against Maersk Line.
In February, after four years of court proceedings, Maersk Line was ordered to pay the Iranian company $163,000, which the shipping company said it is “willing to pay.”
Don’t ask me how civil charges even apply here, but it looks like Maersk was willing to refund the customer the cost of transport, and perhaps some of the cost of the containers themselves. February 18th is the date we are we talking about; which would put the seizure date this week within a normal 90 day window for payment. So what gives?
On an appeal seeking higher compensation, however, Maersk Line was ordered to pay $3.6 million, the statement said – though they only heard of this new ruling on Thursday.
“Only today, 30 April, have we learnt that the appeal court has ruled Maersk Line to pay $ 3.6 million,” the statement said. “As we do not have the details of the ruling, we are not able to comment hereon, nor at this point speculate on our options.”
What is this crap, some sort of Double Secret Probation? They had their criminal case. It was dismissed. They had their civil case. It came up peanuts. So they go and have an appeal, and have that case without Maersk even being party to it? Kangaroo much? And what a surprise, the Iranians rule that the Iranians are entitled to damn near the whole $4 million they originally tried for. This stinks to high heaven.
And then they get their Navy to go and steal the ship? No, this isn’t justice. It’s piracy, excused by the thinnest of nonsensical “legal” jurisprudence. After all, it was their own nation’s courts that threw the other case out, and arrived at the $163,000 settlement after ages of examination.
In a statement on Thursday, Maersk Line explains that the carrier in 2005 delivered ten containers in Dubai for an Iranian customer. The containers were never picked up, and after 90 days the containers were destroyed by the authorities, as stipulated by local legislation in Dubai. The Iranian company subsequently filed a USD 4 million lawsuit against Maersk Line, a claim corresponding to the value of the cargo.
The case was rejected by Iran’s state prosecutor’s office in 2007, and the matter was also rejected by numerous other Iranian courts, after which the Iranian company filed a case against Maersk Line.
On February 18 this year, a court of appeals in Tehran ruled that Maersk Line should pay USD 163,000 to the company - and Maersk Line has not until today, April 30 - according to the carrier - been notified that the court of appeals has sentenced Maersk Line to pay USD 3.6 million to the Iranian customer.
So what now? The Iranians are no doubt (safely!) wagering that the United States will not take military action in response. It may also (reasonably!) believe that, even beyond declining to respond militarily, the Obama administration may decline to respond in any meaningful way, in order to preserve its hope of a nuclear deal and better relations with Tehran. Of course, the administration has hoped that such a deal would facilitate the rise of an Iran that, no longer under threat from the United States, would evolve into a responsible member of the community of nations. The Iranian Navy provided a good illustration this morning of the reasonableness of such hopes.
If the Iranians do not swiftly release the ship, and the White House does nothing beyond lodge symbolic complaints, the failure to respond meaningfully will constitute more than a violation of its agreements with a protectorate and an ally. The failure will certify to the world that the United States is willing to cede control of the Strait of Hormuz to a piratical and lawless regime. Along with internationally recognized European land borders, it will be clear that the freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf is something that the United States no longer guarantees.
Iran naturally denies this petulant motivation, but their actions could not be blunter if they were done by Hillary Clinton or Obama himself. In. Your. Face. And America gets tar-babied once again, skillfully boxed into a corner by pResident Odimwit’s rainbow unicorn fantasy negotiations. And then pissed on with impunity by the terrorist enablers of the “faith” he so fervently supports. America, weakened and embarrassed again. To show willing for an illegal treaty he had no business negotiating, that should never get one vote of approval by the Legislature, and that won’t be adhered to by the other party for even a second.
Horry Clap. Obama is the worst negotiator in human history. Every single thing he puts his hand to, turns to shit. Every. Single. Thing.

The Wrong 300
An army spokesman told the Associated Press and Reuters that the 200 girls and 93 women rescued Tuesday by Nigeria’s Armed Forces did not include any of the schoolgirls kidnapped from Chibok by Boko Haram militants last year.
In a tweet on its official account, the Nigerian Armed Forces said: “FLASH: Troops this afternoon rescued 200 girls & 93 women from #Sambisa Forest. We cannot confirm if the #ChibokGirls are in this group /1.”
Army spokesman Col. Sani Usman told the AP that 293 people were rescued Tuesday “but they are not the Chibok girls.” Reuters also cited Usman as its source.
In April 2014, Boko Haram kidnapped nearly 300 schoolgirls near the northern village of Chibok. Dozens escaped, but 219 remain missing. Their kidnapping sparked a worldwide outcry, creating the social movement “Bring Back Our Girls.”
In October, the Nigerian government announced a cease-fire deal with Boko Haram that included the release of the girls. Two weeks later, the terrorist organization denied the reports and said the girls had been converted to Islam and married off.
In a follow-up tweet Tuesday, the military said: “#Sambisa Forest: The freed persons are now being screened and profiled. We will bring you details later. /3 #NeverAgain.”
The military said its troops captured and destroyed three terrorist camps during the operation in Sambisa Forest, where Boko Haram is believed to have many camps on a game preserve eight times larger than Yellowstone National Park.
Boko Haram, whose attacks on schools have forced thousands away from an education, loosely translates as “Western education is forbidden” in the Hausa language that is spoken by about 40 million people in Nigeria and neighboring Niger.
In March, the leader of Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, making the Nigerian terrorist organization the largest group yet to agree to fight under the Iraq- and Syria-based extremists.
So these were the nearly 300 that the West wasn’t even aware of. Nice. Makes you wonder how many other hundreds ... thousands?? ... of people are held prisoner by this ISIS spin off group.
Because #BlackLivesPeopleDon’tEvenKnowAbout

Obama: If I can’t blame Bush, I’ll blame the GOP
President Obama addressed the violence in Baltimore, claiming his political agenda would help solve some of the problems found in impoverished urban communities, such as the one where the violence occurred. “There’s a bunch of my agenda that would make difference right now in that,” he said, calling for more funding for early education, criminal justice reform and job training.
Obama criticized members of Congress for blocking his agenda items, but encouraged Americans to do some “soul searching” during his joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe this afternoon.
“I’m under no illusion that under this Congress we’re going to get massive investments in urban communities,” he said, adding that it was important to work to improve communities anyway.
That’s right. If only we could pump billions into that city’s education system - for a populace that scorns education. If only we could reform criminal justice - for a populace that commits 4 times as many crimes as any other group in our society, the vast majority of them committed against each other. If only more billions could be spent on job training - because the deliberately uneducated have no interest at all in working at any kind of job at any level, unless it’s being a chart topping rapper or NBA star raking in millions. If only those fat cat banksters, capitalists, and big businesses would invest in this community - after seeing that community run into the ground, businesses destroyed and stomped flat, burned, looted, and burned again.
And we all know what the “code word” meaning of GOP is. YT.
Wrong on all counts, as usual.

Baltimore: Police Were Told Stand Down
Despite a firm denial by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, a senior law enforcement source charges that she gave an order for police to stand down as riots broke out Monday night, raising more questions about whether some of the violence and looting could have been prevented.
The source, who is involved in the enforcement efforts, confirmed to Fox News there was a direct order from the mayor to her police chief Monday night, effectively tying the hands of officers as they were pelted with rocks and bottles.
Asked directly if the mayor was the one who gave that order, the source said: “You are God damn right it was.”
The claim follows criticism of the mayor for, over the weekend, saying they were giving space to those who “wished to destroy.”
By Tuesday night, despite the chaos a day earlier, Baltimore police along with the National Guard and other law enforcement contingents seemed to be restoring order in the city, which was under a curfew overnight.
Rawlings-Blake has defended her handling of the unrest, which grew out of protests over the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody.
The mayor, in an interview with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer on Tuesday, denied any order was issued to hold back on Monday.
“You have to understand, it is not holding back. It is responding appropriately,” she said, saying there was no stand-down directive.
The animals are in charge of the zoo.
Now watch her lie her ass off - utterly typical - and deny the whole thing. She must be an aspiring rapper, turning her life around. A choir girl who was going to start at community college in the fall.
Horry clap, the BS is never ending. And it’s from the same playbook, page by page and line by line, every time. And we’re never supposed to notice.

Petulant Iran Engineers High Seas Incident
Iranian Navy vessels fired shots at and boarded a Marshall Islands-flagged commercial container ship in the Strait of Hormuz Tuesday, a senior defense official told Fox News.
The Maersk Tigris ship—originally heading to Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates, is now being escorted by the Iranian Navy into waters near Bandar Abbas, home of Iran’s largest Navy base.
The USS Farragut, a guided missile destroyer, is making “best speed” en route to the area and has dispatched a helicopter to get a closer look, the official said.
Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said the cargo ship’s master had initially refused an Iranian order to move further into Iranian waters, but after the warning shots were fired the Maersk Tigris complied.
The cargo ship, which had more than 30 people aboard, was directed to waters near Larak Island, he said.
The Iranian vessels, numbering five or six, were with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, Warren said.
The Iranian naval base is located at 27.141009, 56.078583 on any digital world map. Larak Island is the larger of the two islands that blocks Bandar Abbas from the Strait of Hormuz off the tip of the UAE.
Several Iranian patrol craft intercepted the Tigris at 5:05 a.m. eastern time as it traveled “on an internationally recognized maritime route,” according to a statement from the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“The IRGCN contacted the vessel and directed the Maersk Tigris’ master to divert further into Iranian Waters. The master initially declined and one of the IRGCN patrol craft fired shots across the Maersk Tigris’ bow. The master then complied and diverted under escort by the IRGCN vessels,” according to the statement.
In response to a distress call, the U.S. Navy ordered the USS Farragut, an Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyer, “to proceed at best speed to the nearest location of the Maersk Tigris,” while reconnaissance aircraft kept track of the diverted vessel, according to the statement.
The U.S. military has been in contact with officials from the Maersk shipping company, who say that the Iranians boarded the Tigris.
The confrontation occurred as the U.S. Senate prepared to take up legislation aimed at giving lawmakers more of a say on President Barack Obama’s proposed nuclear deal with Iran.
While the Marshall Islands are a sovereign state, “the United States has full authority and responsibility for security and defense of the Marshall Islands,” according to the State Department.
The semi-official Iranian news agency Fars reported that Iran had taken control of a U.S. ship and its 34 crew for “trespassing” in its territorial waters, Reuters said.
A convoy of Iranian cargo ships was heading toward Yemen last week, and was joined by two Iranian warships on Friday. The U.S. Navy deployed the USS Theodore Roosevelt supercarrier, among other vessels, to also sail to the area. Pentagon officials would not say the action was designed to pose a direct affront to Iran, believed to be smuggling weapons or other supplies to the Houthis currently waging war against the government of Yemen. But the Iranian ships turned back toward their home ports on Friday, and as of Tuesday morning had rounded the northeast corner of Oman.
Tuesday’s standoff also comes amid shaky negotiations between the Obama administration and the Iranian government over its nuclear program. Obama did not discuss the incident during a press conference Tuesday afternoon with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
So, whatcha gonna do now, Ochoomster?
UPDATE: He ain’t gonna do fuckin’ nuttin’.
Despite the fact the the USA has a treaty specified duty to defend the Marshall Islands, gutless shysters at the Pentagon have determined that the US has no duty to defend, or rescue, Marshall Islands people or property. Even though those same treaties specifically deny the Marshalls this kind of behavior. Betcha there’s lots of head scratching in the South Pacific today! All these years, happily being an ally, never really needing Uncle Sam but glad he was around ... and now ... bazinga!
Yup, you got it right: he just threw an entire country under the bus.

I hope April gets here soon
Arrgh, I’m getting tired of this never ending March we’re having. This morning it’s 50° out. Not exactly freezing, but jacket weather without question. It still feels like the middle of March, and May starts in 3 days.

Chimpanzees Are Now Legal Persons With Rights
Here’s a dose of over-the-top.
On Monday, a New York judge appeared to grant two chimpanzees a writ of habeas corpus. In other words, the chimps have the right to a day in court—under a law that only applies to people.
Last week, a revolutionary decision was made in a U.S. court: chimpanzees were acknowledged to have rights of their own.
It is the first time legal rights of any kind have ever been accorded to anything other than a human.
Here’s the “reasoning” as explained by Simon Barnes, wildlife writer for The Daily Mail.
The fact is that chimpanzees really are almost human. It’s a truth that humankind has tried to ignore ever since Charles Darwin declared in 1871 that humans were related to the apes of Africa.
Modern genetic studies have shown that this relationship is much closer than people thought. We have nearly 99 per cent of our genetic material in common.
And if that one-and-a-bit per cent is unquestionably significant, the rest of it takes a fair amount of thinking about. Chimpanzees are more closely related to us than to their — or should it be our — fellow apes, the gorillas and orangutangs.
It has been suggested that humans and chimpanzees belong not just in the same family, but in the same genus: in other words, the only correct way to understand the human connection to other species is to accept that humans are a species of chimpanzee . . . or chimp-anzees are a species of human.
And if that sounds fantastic, cast your mind back. Some statements made about race — statements that are shocking now — were once accepted as good sense: ‘There is a physical difference between the White and the Black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.’ That was Abraham Lincoln in 1858.
One more: ‘The mental constitution of the negro is . . . normally good-natured and cheerful, but subject to sudden fits of emotion and passion during which he is capable of performing acts of singular atrocity, impressionable, vain, but often exhibiting in the capacity of a servant a dog- like fidelity . . .’ That’s from Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911.
That’s the gist of it. They’re close enough to qualify according to the logic of the heart. If you don’t agree, then you’re a racist, just like the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica or Abraham Lincoln.
Here’s the whole article. The arguments seem persuasive until you realize that they’re composed almost entirely of emotional opinions and isolated facts.
Here’s the same court case reported by the Washington Post:
Chimpanzee almost gets habeas corpus — and in any event the Nonhuman Rights Project gets a court hearing
Chimps given human rights by U.S. court for the first time (sort of)
Do these people have any objective other than the destruction of Western Civilization?

I thought her name was Stephanie
It might be that the mayor of Baltimore’s real name is Janice. And seeing that she’s at least slightly black, we’ll spell that J A N U S. Janus, as in Janus the two faced god. Because, my goodness, isn’t she ever?
In case you hadn’t heard, Baltimore Maryland is going to Hell. Well, actually, it already IS Hell, but after the weekend’s riot - the one excused for and allowed “room for destruction” by mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake - rekindled again today (see Weasel Zippers for live coverage; 7 officers injured so far, 1 unresponsive, 1 journalist injured, cars and buildings aflame everywhere) it really makes you wonder.
Whose side is this woman on?
When Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake stood at a podium Saturday night in the aftermath of violent looting, she was flanked by several men, including Carlos Muhammad, a leader of the local chapter of the Nation of Islam.
That in and of itself is not surprising, since Rawlings-Blake thanked the Nation of Islam for helping quash violence that gripped the city Saturday night.
But while Muhammad stood with Rawlings-Blake as she called for peace in the streets Saturday, it was a more fiery message he cheered on at a speech at Baltimore’s Morgan State University in November.
It was there, in the aftermath of a Missouri grand jury’s decision not to indict a white police officer in the shooting death of Michael Brown, that Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan asserted that peace was not an option for blacks in their dealings with law enforcement.
“We going to die anyway. Let’s die for something,” Farrakhan told the crowd that day.
“Teach your baby how to throw the bottle if they can’t bite,” Farrakhan said, as he made a throwing motion.
Whether Saturday’s ne’er-do-wells were acting on Farrakhan’s command is unclear. But looting occurred, and bottles, chairs and garbage cans were thrown at police, local businesses and innocent bystanders. Thirty-four people were arrested in all.
During his November speech, Farrakhan held up a copy of the Koran, pointing out that the Muslim holy book includes a “law of retaliation.”
Appearing on “The Lead” with host Jake Tapper Monday, CNN law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes slammed comments made Saturday by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
In her comments, the Baltimore mayor said that she “instructed” police officers to allow space for protesters “who wished to destroy.” She also told officers “to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech.”
Fuentes told Tapper that the comment was “so absurd, I don’t know how to respond,” while wondering if the mayor wanted to turn police cars and officers along with public buildings into “piñatas” for people “to whack at.”
“I did wonder while we talking about police tactics and, in your view of police being afraid to react or seeming afraid to react to some of this violence against them,” Tapper told Fuentes. “What do you think the mayor meant when she referred to giving protestors who wish to destroy space to do that?”
“You know, Jake, I think that statement is so absurd. I don’t know how to respond,” Fuentes said. “I would just let her clarify that. Does she want to serve up police cars, or other public buildings in Baltimore or public officials like the police, turn them into piñatas for the people to come out and whack at them so they can get their aggression out of their system? I’ve never heard a statement like that and I think it’s ridiculous.”
Maybe I’m wrong. It’s just my own stupid naive assumption that the MAYOR of a major American city would naturally be on the side of law and order. But no! She’s in favor of letting the mob burn, loot, and destroy, and she calls it “free speech”. Holy shit. And she’s in cahoots with Nation of Islam, when it was her own police department that kept the rioting somewhat under control?
Oh wait. Like I said, she’s nominally black. Therefore the police, ALL police, are the enemy. So I am wrong. No one is allowed a mindset outside their melanin. She isn’t two faced. She’s just a nigger. And as much as I despise the term and try not to use it and almost never blog it, there it is. Support for the mob of ground apes, the belief that “her people” are owed whatever they can take by violence, and the assumption that the police are at fault for Broderick Johnson’s death. They’re the cause of it. Oh, and a big Praise Allah for my pals here in Nation of Islam. Tear this motherfucker down, let it burn. She doesn’t need to say these things directly; they’re all part and parcel of making a statement about “allowing room for destruction” as if other people’s property, lives, and livelihoods, are an acceptable target for all that “pent up rage and frustration” against the system, built up since the last flash mob riot in Baltimore ... last week.
And don’t give me that usual bullshit about “instigators brought in from out of town”, even if some of it is true. (In America, the Land of Opportunity, can ambitious black people make a tax free career path as migrant rioters and looters? Laugh now, sure, but would you bet that it isn’t true?)
I think we have reached a pivotal point here in Black Run America. The universal white hatred is no longer being hidden at all. Violence against whites is a constant, daily, every growing problem. And now we get to add government explicitly approved Category 5 Chimpouts to the mix; large scale rioting, looting, arson, and violence. “Room for destruction”. Once again, with a wink and a nod from the man in charge.
The White House says the head of President Barack Obama’s initiative for minority males will attend the funeral of a Baltimore man who died after sustaining serious injuries while in police custody. Broderick Johnson, the chairman of the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force, will represent the administration at Monday’s funeral for Freddie Gray. Johnson is also the Cabinet secretary. Gray is the 25-year-old black man who died a week after an encounter with Baltimore police left him with grave spinal injuries. He is being buried Monday in Baltimore.
Another link.
A superb link full of pictures, from the UK of course.
I am sickened.
And it just continues to get worse. Those NOI friends of hers? Here ya go ...
“We have seven officers who were injured during the course of this,” said Baltimore Police Capt. Eric Kowalczyk. “They have broken bones, one of them is unresponsive. This is not okay. Our officers went out to that situation to make sure that the people who live in that community were safe and we’re going to continue to do what we can to make sure that those people stay safe.
”It’s a group of lawless individuals,” Kowalczyk said of the rioters. “What we know is that they are a group of criminals with no regard for the people in the community.”
A police source told Fox News several gangs, including Black Gorilla Family, Bloods and Crips all had “entered into a partnership to take out law enforcement officers.”
Activists from the Nation of Islam claimed responsibility for bringing the gangs together, telling reporters that they brokered a deal between the hated foes.
“I can say with honesty those brothers demonstrated they can be united for a common good,” Nation of Islam minister Carlos Muhammad told The Daily Beast. “At the rally, they made the call that they must be united on that day. It should be commended.”
That “common good” is the destruction of the police and the burning down of our civilization. Commendable, indeed.
Now I’m gonna heave.

Common Core Arm Twisting
There was a time when Common Core supporters loudly insisted the program — adopted by no fewer than 46 states — was most assuredly not federal, that any allegation that this astounding national uniformity was the result of federal pressure was a nasty, vicious lie. The State Standards Initiative confidently declares as “myth” the assertions that “Common Core State Standards were adopted by states as part of the [federal] Race to the Top grant program” or that the “federal government will take over ownership” of Common Core. The Initiative’s position is clear: “The federal government will not govern the Common Core State Standards. The Common Core was and will remain a state-led effort.” (Emphasis in original.)
This year, nearly 17% of students opted out of the New York Common Core English tests, triple last year’s opt out rate.
So here comes the federal government to the rescue, now labeling all those concerned suburban soccer moms as racists.
With the tests in crisis, (Secretary of Education) Arne Duncan said this week that if the states can’t fix themselves, the federal government will “have an obligation to step in.” This means not just threatening to cut federal funding, but essentially forcing states to withhold their own funds from delinquent schools.
“In the past, English Language Learners, students in special education, and racial minorities were “swept under the rug,” Duncan said. “Folks in the civil rights community, folks in the disability community, they want their kids being assessed. They want to know if they are making progress or growth.”
Got the message, selfish parents? You’re hurting the “civil rights community.” You’re harming “students of color.” No one is immune from racial demagoguery when it can even be turned on parents in politically correct, diversity-obsessed communities like Manhattan and Park Slope.
Read the rest of the essay over at National Review.

I hate when this happens
( fake rape accusations too, sometimes even published in Rolling Stone magazine! )
George Washington University (“the Harvard of safety schools,” as alumnus Dan Foster calls it) has a swastika problem.
This goes back a ways. In 2007, a Jewish student, Sarah Marshak, reported that her dorm-room door had been defaced with swastikas, and she complained that the university was doing too little to investigate. But the university was in fact investigating thoroughly — it had, ridiculously enough, gone as far as consulting the FBI — and its sneakily hidden surveillance cameras recorded the vandal in action. No points for guessing that the malefactor was Sarah Marshak.
Recently, somebody drew swastikas on the wall of a GWU dormitory. Whether that is the work of another hoax artist or a genuine free-range national-socialist graffitist is unknown, but the school’s students have an unproud history of faking hate crimes. A group of left-wing students some years back drew up a phony anti-Muslim flier that was falsely attributed to a conservative group, the Young America’s Foundation, in an attempt to smear the organization as racist.
...
Fake hate crimes, like false rape accusations, now are a regular part of college life, and they serve the same purpose: a pretext for terrorizing unpopular individuals and organizations.
The hoaxers rarely if ever endure any serious punishment. Punishment is reserved for the innocent.
Or the mostly innocent. Given the low intellectual climate on George Washington’s campus, the Jewish student returning from a trip to India with a Hindu symbol of auspiciousness — the Sanskrit word is svastika — surely must have known what he might be stirring when he tacked it up on the bulletin board belonging to his Jewish fraternity. He has been expelled from the fraternity and banished from the campus, and probably will be expelled from the university. Compare that with the treatment of “Jackie,” the University of Virginia student whose manufactured tale of a brutal gang rape sent that campus into convulsions — nothing happened. The student who originally complained about the swastika retracted his complaint after learning that the iconography in question was Hindu rather than Nazi — that he’d assumed the wrong kind of Aryan — but none of that matters to university administrators.
Campus “hate speech’” and “hate crimes” are often phony, ginned up to “raise awareness”. Sometimes they’re just the result of stupid. Sometimes they are real. But there are enough fake ones out there to make questioning the validity of any new ones mandatory, and that itself is a sad state of affairs.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
- Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
- Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
