Time To Move On

I am calm now. It is time to move on. Terri Schiavo is dead and nothing will change that. What we can do is change the laws to prevent it happening again. Write your Congress-critter today. Prepare your living will. Get right with God. Live your life to the fullest. Do all the things you should be doing.

I have just come back from a long walk. Pondering what happened. I am a hard man and I have lived a hard life but events like this and the emotionally charged arguments going back and forth have scratched the little tender-hearted piece of me that I hide from the world.

Every life is precious. That is what separates us from the animals .. and people like the radical Muslims. We value life and want to prolong it as long as possible in the hope that each life has something more to contribute to the greater good. Do I feel anger or hatred toward Michael Schiavo, his lawyer or the judge who condemned Terri to die? No. Absolutely not. If any punishment is deserved, they will feel it every night when they go to bed and finally when they go to face the Ultimate Judge of all Creation.

Our job is to go on living. One day after the next. Doing our best to make things better. Nothing more or less. I urge all of you to take from this the lessons learned, to work to see it doesn’t happen again and finally .... to pray for Terri. Her troubles behind this “veil of tears” is over. Allow God to take her in and bring her peace.

“Think not disdainfully of death, but look on it with favor; for even death is one of the things that Nature wills.”
-- Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (121 AD - 180 AD)

Peace, Quiet, Serenity

For those needing something to do/someplace to go to get your minds off the latest news, try going here.

Yesterday and today I was out taking photos. What you will see by clicking on the link are pictures of what’s currently blooming in my garden.  The photos are optimized for quick download (about 40K each) so even with a dial-up it’ll be quick.

Don’t forget we also have a picture gallery on the right hand side of the blog.  You can see these flower pictures and more by clicking on the link and then choosing the gallery you wish to visit.

Enjoy!

For you budding botanists out there I have a couple I’ve not ID’d.  Can you?

Less than an hour ago, Terri Schiavo passed away. I have nothing more to say at this time.

Joe Mama

I received this e-mail last night. Regular readers will know what this is about ....

From: Joe Peacock [mailto:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 3:25 PM
To: allan@barking-moonbat.com
Subject: hey allan

Allan,

Don’t take my nuts. Please.

I’m Joe, one half of the infamous “Bill and Joe”, and the writer dude behind the PNMJ.org prank you read yesterday. Nice to meet you.

Surely, you - of all people - should be able to relate to the mission we have here. This is not our first prank - we’ve successfully nailed the mainstream media scraping sites for “news” and blatantly reporting completely false crap in the past. This one didn’t really hit the MSM as hard as it did the blogosphere, but still, it served a great purpose - to get people to do a little research and understand that “Just because someone took the time to write it does NOT make it true. Do your research.”

Anyway, no hard feelings, champ. I like what you do at the Early Warning System and hope you can grow to appreciate what we do over on our end. If you want, with our next prank, we can “scoop” you so you can let your readers know to watch out for it.

Take care, man.

Joe

To which I replied ....

Dear Joe,

If you are Joe. How do I know you are Joe? In fact, how do I know I am me? For all we know I could be a Jewish settler and you could be a Hamas militant. Horrors! Nothing is for certain on the internet. You only add to the confusion. The blogosphere is trying to earn “street cred” and this happens? Not good.

I applaud your efforts to slap the MSM. They need it purely because of their arrogant bias. I, however, am just a poor underfunded blogger sitting here in my pajamas trying to make a difference in the commie-infiltrated world of news and information.

I will spare your nuts this time on condition that you do as promised and warn us next time.

Of course, all this is conditional on whether or not you are Joe. You are Joe, aren’t you? Please tell me you are not Dan Rather seeking revenge. If so, I would have to declare war and beat you severely all over your headbone.

Allan

Well, did I handle it well? I have blanked out Joe’s e-mail address in the interests of public safety.

WTF?!?!?!

Several from our WTF?!?! department today.  I’ll try and post them in a way which has some sort of “thread” between them.  A linkage, of sorts.

bat We’ll start with story about the US Army prosecuting one of its own for “mercy killing” an Iraqi with serious head wounds.  Maybe she should have been allowed to starve to death instead?

bat The Army is now being accused of “religious discrimination” because one of its asshats was found guilty of willfully disobeying orders.

You may have heard about this in the past. Guy gets told to go to Iraq and “all of a sudden” determines it is against his religion---a pagan religion.  Practicing witchcraft.  Oh, and did I mention he screwed around with others in his marriage....

with his wife’s consent......

and that he’s bi-sexual.....

and admitted it?

Time to take this one out behind the barn and air condition his head.

bat Let’s see how many things are wrong here.
You are married.

You have a debilitating illness.

You go to a psychologist?!?!?!?!?!

For OVER TWO YEARS?!?!?!

Who....................

Taught you SPELLS?!?!?!....

Told you your Buddhist faith was wrong....

Told you your condition was terminal....

Convinced you to divorce your husband....

Convinced you to move in with the psychologist.....

Who then convinced you to take nekkid pictures of HER....

Look, it’s one thing to be a bad doctor but it’s totally another to be so stupid to stay with that doctor for almost 2 ½ years and do those stupid things.

Whatever happened to common sense and free will?

bat Taking zero-tolerance a bit too far, eh?  Schools in Maryland have mixed policies regarding the use of sunscreen.  Some let you use it.  Others mandate it be done through the nurse’s office.  Still others ban it entirely.

Oh, and kids have a “right” to wear sunscreen, too.  Hang on a sec’ while I go check my Constitution.

Yep, just as I thought.  It’s not in there.

Are our kids such pussies nowadays they need sunscreen to play outside?

That’s all I want to know.

You saw the “threads” right?  Army, Army/witchcraft, witchcraft/stupid people, stupid people/lawmakers?

Yeah, OK, a bit of a stretch.  Just don’t tell James Taranto!

Just Who Do They Think They Are?

Check this out.

ABC is doing a special called “Only In America.” Wal-Mart is buying sponsorship.

21 (count ‘em! 21!!!) Dummycraps are writing to ABC to ask them to cancel Wal-Mart’s sponsorship.

Why?  They say Wal-Mart comes into a community and:

“treats workers poorly, violates immigration laws and squashes small businesses.”

Funny, every time a Wal-Mart opens here (and virtually anywhere else in the US) they are FLOODED with applications.  FLOODED!!!  If memory serves, there were 4000 applications for 800 jobs here.

Small business?  These are same fucktard senators that would have passed legislation to save the buggy whip manufacturers in the early 1900s.  What business is it of theirs to get involved in this?

Have they no clue how many BILLIONS of dollars Wal-Mart has saved US consumers which they can then use for other things like going to restaurants, medicine, clothes, etc?

And the immigration thing?  Why aren’t these piece of shit senators out trying to figure out why the SSA has millions of fake SS numbers which they do not track down and are almost certainly ALL from illegals?  Why aren’t they out there trying to determine which of their vaunted “small businesses” continue to hire illegals using those fake SS numbers to gain employment?

They do this because Wal-Mart is huge and these socialist bastards hate the US and capitalism.

Scumbags!

Go read this and get pissed off.

Update

Last May Allan brought you this story about that asshat Army sergeant who threw the grenade in the tent of his fellow soldiers.

He claims to be Muslim.

Yesterday he was to appear before a judge on a pre-trial motion.  He tried to escape. He used a pair of scissors to stab a guard.

My question is this” why is this piece of shit still alive?

image

This is what he looks like.  In case he DOES escape.  So you can put a bullet between his eyes!!!  And what is it about Islam and Blacks, anyway?

Re-Defining “Turd Burglar”

I always thought the term meant something else.  Not today.

How stupid can one person be, anyway?

Then again, it happened in San Diego, California.

(remind me NEVER to buy a gun from anyone in California, either.  At least not without test firing it first!)

Law Of The Sea

A few weeks ago I wrote about the Law of the Sea (L.O.S.T.) treaty about to be passed into law.

I encouraged you to write your Senators.

Our reader, Valgerd, did.  Read what Senator Lugar sent her.

Here’s the original article that started all this.

Hmmm, now I am not sure WHO to believe.  He makes a positive argument for it.  One thing is certain, if this treaty has provisions in it for us to be taxed and revenues to be sent to the UN, I am against it.

Thursday Thriller

Well, here it is, almost the end of another week (and the end of the first 25% of the New Year.)

After the events of the past couple of days, it is time that BMEWS got its own Super-Hero to watch over the Benevolent Dictator and the Secretary of War.

I nominate:

SUPER GIRL!!!

Freedom Of Speech?

image

Earlham Student Hits Pundit With Pie

RICHMOND, Ind.—A pie in the face didn’t silence conservative pundit William Kristol during a speech at Earlham College.

A man who later was identified as a student at the private Quaker college jumped onto the stage and splattered Kristol with the pie Tuesday night about 30 minutes into a speech about U.S. foreign policy.

Members of the audience jeered the student as he walked off the stage, then applauded as Kristol wiped the goo off his face with a paper towel and said, “Just let me finish this point,” the Palladium-Item reported.

So this is how liberals practice freedom of speech? They either shout down conservative speakers, as happened to Ann Coulter this week or else they physically attack conservative speakers like Bill Kristol? Kristol makes regular appearances on Brit Hume’s afternoon show on Fox News as well as being the editor of The Weekly Standard. The man is no radical firebrand. He is a very intelligent speaker and does not advocate any weird ideas. So what gives a liberal arts student the right to assault him? Nothing, really. This is how the Left supresses dissent. All the while screaming about their freedom of speech. Hypocritical bastards! Run ‘em all through a paper shredder.

Oh Dear, I Am Shamed ….

Both Vilmar and I read James Taranto’s “Best Of The Web Today” from the Wall Street Journal’s Opinion Journal every day. We have submitted stories several times to Mr. Taranto to show our appreciation and hopefully to get a plug for our site.

Well, Mr. Taranto finally gave us a plug. Sort of. Of all the stories we have submitted to him, the one he chose to repeat is the one where I was hoodwinked yesterday. Here is the link to today’s Opinion Journal. The story is entitled “A Big Fat Hoax” and is the last one on the page.

Please excuse me while I go out in the back yard and fall on my sword .... it’s the only honorable thing to do ....

Vilmar Note:: Someone please call a doctor!  Hurry!  I have this sharp, long, metal thing stuck in my belly.  There are some people (names deleted to protect their identities and me from lawsuit) are twisting it as I write.  UUGGGH!  It hurts!!!!  Plus it’s making a mess in my living room.

AAHHH!  Katana!!!  How I feel thy sting of shame!!!

Spend a lifetime tending animals well .... but f**k just one warthog and ....

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
