must be YTs fault

Baltimore Murder Rate Highest In Nearly 50 Years

Because #blacklivesmatter. Not #alllivesmatter you evil honky cracka, just #blacklivesmatter. And only when you damned YTs are involved. The rest of the time, that ain’t none of your bidness.

Baltimore reached a grim milestone on Friday, three months after riots erupted in response to the death of Freddie Gray in police custody: With 45 homicides in July, the city has seen more bloodshed in a single month than it has in 43 years.

Police reported three deaths — two men shot Thursday and one on Friday. The men died at local hospitals.

With their deaths, this year’s homicides reached 189, far outpacing the 119 killings by July’s end in 2014. Nonfatal shootings have soared to 366, compared to 200 by the same date last year. July’s total was the worst since the city recorded 45 killings in August 1972, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The seemingly Sisyphean task of containing the city’s violence prompted Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to fire her police commissioner, Anthony Batts, on July 8.

“Too many continue to die on our streets,” Rawlings-Blake said then. “Families are tired of dealing with this pain, and so am I. Recent events have placed an intense focus on our police leadership, distracting many from what needs to be our main focus: the fight against crime.”

But the killings have not abated under Interim Commissioner Kevin Davis since then.

Baltimore is not unique in its suffering; crimes are spiking in big cities around the country.

But while the city’s police are closing cases— Davis announced arrests in three recent murders several days ago — the violence is outpacing their efforts. Davis said Tuesday the “clearance rate” is at 36.6 percent, far lower than the department’s mid-40s average.

Crime experts and residents of Baltimore’s most dangerous neighborhoods cite a confluence of factors: mistrust of the police; generalized anger and hopelessness over a lack of opportunities for young black men; and competition among dealers of illegal drugs, bolstered by the looting of prescription pills from pharmacies during the riot.

Federal drug enforcement agents said gangs targeted 32 pharmacies in the city, taking roughly 300,000 doses of opiates, as the riots caused $9 million in property damage in the city.

Perched on a friend’s stoop, Sherry Moore, 55, said she knew “mostly all” of the young men killed recently in West Baltimore, including an 18-year-old fatally shot a half-block away. Moore said many more pills are on the street since the riot, making people wilder than usual.

“The ones doing the violence, the shootings, they’re eating Percocet like candy and they’re not thinking about consequences. They have no discipline, they have no respect — they think this is a game. How many can I put down on the East side? How many can I put down on the West side?”

But hey, why even report this as news? What’s important is that a trophy hunter killed a lion on the other side of the planet.

Late Night Grilling

Taking my chances here with a nice chunk of tenderloin. About 2lb I think. 8 minutes a side over low heat, with the grill heated to a touch over 400? We shall see.

Anyway, we played a bit of a drinking game while watching the final episode of season 3 of the Western mining camp adventure show Deadwood. Lucky me, I drew Tolliver, and she drew Swearengen. We debated having to drink whenever our chosen character said any variation of “fuck” or “cocksucker”, but settled instead on drinking whenever they did. Alas the episode focused mostly on Swearengen, so she had to down about 6 shots, even though I gave her a break of 1/2 for her to every 1 of his. Tolliver hardly put in an appearance. If we went by dialog, both of us would be dead - the series set records for profanity. It’s a pretty rough show, full of murders and debauchery and constant swearing. And that was it for season 3. And the series. No real closure to the story arc, but several more cherished characters killed off. It sure was involving though.

We also finished off Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, an odd little miniseries fantasy about an alternate England in the Napoleonic Era wherein magicians have great power, but eventually have to use it to fight the evil Fairies from The Other Side. Simplistic, but some nice CGI from time to time.

Summer TV. Whatchu gonna do? Now it looks like we’re down to following Under The Dome again, a Stephen King adaptation that should have run its course in one season but has been extended to last forever. IMO, not only has the shark jumped, but it did a triple backflip through burning hoops and spiked the landing. At least Dome’s got 3 redheads worth looking at. Mostly.

Otay. So the Filets Mignon should be ready to eat now. And it’s only 10:30.

France in chaos and no sight of the end … and it’s felt here as well.

It’s not even close to being over. And it will not be soon either.  That’s not rocket science folks. Take a good look and btw, there’s video and another dozen photos at the link below.

Police are over stretched, 250 French cops and thousands of mud people life confronting them.

It was suggested that Brits bring in army, and then also a report published that claims the Brit army numbers at the lowest since 1815.

And not that many young guys want to enter a service where by any chance should they kill an enemy, like say in Syria or Afghanistan or wherever, they might be libel in civil courts.  Lets hear it for the rights industry folks. Any cheers?

Meanwhile, farmers in the east of France are spraying cars with manure. I didn’t read the article so don’t know why, but there is a photo of their protest at the link.

French strikers add to the chaos in Calais

British holidaymakers heading to France face travel chaos as they contend with striking ferry workers, the migrant crisis in Calais and Operation Stack in Kent.

Scores of migrants gathering at the French port have caused vast disruption at the entrance to the Channel Tunnel in Calais throughout the last week, with the government set to divert people onto ferries to avoid the growing crisis.

But as ministers prepared to hold talks with ferry companies, striking French workers scuppered plans by blocking roads to the port with a wall of burning tyres, bringing traffic to a standstill and causing huge tailbacks.

Vehicles are equally stationary on the British side of the border on the M20 in Kent, where Operation Stack has seen hundreds of lorries queue up along the closed motorway.

The crisis in Calais has caused some British families - including a Ukip MEP - to cancel their holidays, while others are changing their travel plans to avoid the French port.

One picture worth a thousand words?  Here’s a few more.

now the word “swarm” is offensive as brit pm is hounded by left for using it

I was listening to a report on BBC radio with regard to the show Top Gear, and a couple of guys debating if Clarkson and his pals who are to be signed by Amazon’s TV project, will be a success.  I could care less cos I never followed the show altho I did like Clarkson’s sense of humor sometimes. Well, the thrust of this is that one of the guys reporting from America, said that some of Clarkson’s remarks might not go down well in ….  “ The land of the politically correct”. Whoa.

I don’t doubt for a second that we do have those idiots in the USA.  But hold the phone guy ….  Clarkson was stitched up any number of times for remarks that had no racial bias, by people who insisted everything he said pointed to race hate crimes.  But this sorry story has to top any pc idiot bs we have in the US.

The Prime Minister here referred to the term swarm , to describe the events in Calais and the Channel Tunnel. Naturally, the left swung into action with their speech police ethic, and accused him of referring to the verminous sub humans as insects just by using that word.  I doubt very much that the conservative (lite) PM of this country would use that word in that context.

But I would and I am.

Calais migrant crisis: David Cameron branded ‘disgraceful’ for Mediterranean ‘swarm’ remark

By Ian Silvera

David Cameron has been attacked for his “disgraceful” language after the British prime minister blamed the ongoing Channel Tunnel crisis on a “swarm” of migrants from the Mediterranean. The Conservative leader made the comments after 1,500 people tried to gain access to the UK from France through the network, resulting in the death of one young Sudanese man.

Cameron, speaking in Vietnam as part of his South East Asia trade tour, told ITV News: “This is very testing, I accept that, because you have got a swarm of people coming across the Mediterranean seeking a better life, wanting to come to Britain because Britain has got jobs; it’s got a growing economy, it’s an incredible place to live. But we need to protect our borders by working hand in glove with our neighbours the French, and that is exactly what we are doing.”

The use of the term invoked anger from Labour leadership hopeful Andy Burnham, who blasted the PM. “Cameron calling Calais migrants a ‘swarm’ is nothing short of disgraceful. [It] confirms there’s no dog-whistle these Bullingdon Boys won’t blow,” he told followers on Twitter.

More than 3,000 migrants have reportedly attempted to use the Channel Tunnel to get through to the UK. Lorry drivers travelling between the continent and Britain have also been targeted by the migrants in a bid to get to the UK.

Now if that isn’t the height of pc I don’t know what is.

Obama, Still The Greatest

Yeah, he built that

image

NICS checks - and gun sales with them, it is always assumed - continue in 2015 on par with their record shattering levels of 2014 and 2013, which blew away the amazing rates of 2012, which shattered the record number of hits in 2011 ... and so on, and so on. Gun sales have been on an ever increasing incline since November 2008, taking ammunition and accessory sales along with them.

NICS checks under the 6.5 years of Obama are almost double what they were in the 6.5 years before his rule. 120,071,818 vs 65,446,756. If each of those background checks was a single gun purchase at a licensed dealer, and if there were no person to person sales at all (which avoid the NICS check), then in a period of just 17 years we’d be looking at 213 million purchases, which is more than 2/3 the population of our country.

Let’s face it, everybody owns a gun. More than likely, everybody owns several guns. And that, pussy Europe, is how it ought to be.

Thanks Barry! Obama, the greatest gun salesman ever!

PS - our two (2) available gun stocks are booming. Smith & Wesson, which pays no dividend, is up more than 50% so far this year. Sturm, Ruger, & Company is up 73% this year, and is paying 2.2%. Both are running at maximum capacity, but the firearms supply pipeline is reasonably full from all the other companies and importers, which leads to market slack, which could cause some individual company sales whiplashing. No system is perfect, but S&W is crowing about another half billion sales year. Ruger isn’t making much noise, and is right behind them.

Smith & Wesson (SWHC) shares soared 13% Wednesday as the company announced that firearm orders are picking up again. Sales in recent weeks have been better than expected.  The company now forecasts sales of between $175 million to $179 million for the quarter. That’s up 8% from its projection just six weeks ago and will help boost the company’s earnings as well.

Investors are sensing potential in the gun market again. The company’s stock is now up a whopping 50% since the start of 2015.

Smith & Wesson gun sales hit a record of $626.6 million last year. The company won’t be anywhere near that for this fiscal year, which runs through the end of April, but the pick up in orders recently may signal a turning point. Its latest projection is for full-year sales of between $546 million and $550 million—about on track with 2013 numbers.  Investors appear to be reading today’s update from Smith & Wesson as a sign of the market overall getting back on track.

Sturm, Ruger & Co. (RGR), the other publicly traded U.S. firearm manufacturer, also saw its shares jump almost 10% in early trading. Its stock has also jumped phenomenally since the start of the year.

Ruger may have hit a minor speed bump, with sales trending slightly downward in the past quarter, but they remain bloated with cash. Faced with this news this week, the market did a fast sell-off before realizing what a well run company looks like, at which point the dip was over and the share price was back where it belonged.

In the second quarter of 2015, the estimated sell-through of the Company’s products from the independent distributors to retailers decreased 22% from the first quarter of 2015. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System background checks (as adjusted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation) decreased 21% during the same period.

Inventory of the Company’s products at the independent distributors increased by 63,500 units during the second quarter of 2015 and the Company’s finished goods inventory increased by 44,100 units during the same period.

Cash generated from operations during the six months ended June 27, 2015 was $80.9 million. At June 27, 2015, our cash totaled $61.1 million. Our current ratio is 2.2 to 1 and we have no debt.

In the first half of 2015, capital expenditures totaled $16.3 million, much of it related to tooling and equipment for new products. We expect our 2015 capital expenditures to total approximately $30 million.

In the first half of 2015, the Company returned $12.0 million to its shareholders through:

the payment of $9.2 million of dividends, and
the repurchase of 82,100 shares of our common stock in the open market at an average price of $34.57 per share, for a total of $2.8 million.

At June 27, 2015, stockholders’ equity was $208.0 million, which equates to a book value of $11.12 per share, of which $3.27 per share is cash.

image

Poor Ruger. In 6 months, they’ve reduced inventory overhead, overshadowed modernization costs with enhanced depreciation, and fattened up the assets by $40 million, almost all of which is cash. They’ve also increased paychecks and benefits by about 40%. And they have no debt. None. Not bad for a $550 million company.

Thanks Barry!

muslim girls gang up on a real human, for wearing a bikini in her own country. poor france

I wanted to say, so now France feels the sting but then realized they did that some time ago. It’s just that they never reacted as I thought they should.

You know. Mass roundups, deportations and shootings. Well why not?  At least this time they’d have the right grouping and a sound reason.

So these twits who enjoy 2nd class and slavery come to an advanced country and insist that their host country must become something else. That something being a 7th century death cult.

France: Anti-Muslim sentiment rises after woman in bikini beaten up by teen girls

By Mark Piggott

A relatively trivial incident in a French park has again illustrated tensions between Islam and mainstream French society in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre and other recent incidents.

According to reports, 21-year-old Angelique Slosse was sunbathing with two friends in Parc Léo Lagrange in Reims last Wednesday (22 July) when a gang of girls and women began abusing her for wearing a bikini.

When Slosse made a retort the gang - aged between 17 and 24 - physically attacked her before being restrained by passersby. Slosse was badly bruised and unable to work the next day.

Her attackers - Inès Nouri, Zohra Karim, Hadoune Tadjouri, and two unnamed girls aged 16 and 17 - will appear in court in September.

And so to add insult to injury, they keep names nobody native to France can get a tongue around. And it’s the same here in the UK btw.

The incident sparked fury. A demonstration in the park itself was attended by only a few hardy protesters in bikinis due to the weather, but hundreds responded to an appeal by SOS Racisme to post photographs of themselves wearing bikinis on social media with the hashtag “#jeportemonmaillotauparcleo” - “I wear my swimsuit in the park.”

Pleading for calm the Mayor of Reims, Arnaud Robinet, said: “We have to be very careful not to jump to conclusions. All the same, I can understand why people have assumed that this attack had religious motives. If that turns out to be the case, it is a very serious incident.”

The reports led to outrage at what was seen as a further example of what has been perceived as the “Islamification” of France. However, as yet the religion of the attackers has not been confirmed and now Reims police say Slosse simply got into an argument with girls from a gang who told her to put her clothes on due to the weather.

Police superintendent Julie Galisson said: “It was a fight between young girls which degenerated after one of the authors of the aggression said: ‘Get dressed, it’s not summer’. One of those arrested would not leave her alone and this degenerated into violence.

“As is clear from the statement of the victim and those implicated, there is no element of a religious or moral element which explains the aggression.”

Source: International Business Times

And that’s BS because one of the slags has already posted to Facebook about faith in islam and a general pro islamic rant. All of the girls are from a muslim housing estate, and their names certainly are a clue. But I guess the mayor has to be careful about offending this special group, least he violate some right or rights he didn’t know they had.

Lying about lions lying about

Cecil Was Murdered!!!!1111!!!11!

image

A “trayvonesque” picture of Cecil from his prime. Wild lions live to about 14, he was 13 when a hunter got him

Another case of when the internet is used as a weapon.

Cecil, a 13-year-old lion, wandered out of his sanctuary in a national park in Zimbabwe this month, following the scent of a potential snack.

At the other end of Cecil’s search was a lure, placed there by hunters who, conservationists say, wanted their prey to cross into unprotected territory so they could kill him.

Cecil, well known to those who visited the Hwange National Park in western Zimbabwe for his jet black mane, was beheaded, according to conservation officials. His corpse was left to rot in the sun.

Zimbabwean officials said that Dr. Walter J. Palmer, an American hunter known for killing big game with a bow and arrow, killed Cecil, and was being sought on poaching charges.

Johnny Rodrigues of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force said Cecil was lured out of a protected game preserve one night in early July by a hunting party that tied a dead animal to a car.

The first shot, which the authorities say came from Dr. Palmer’s crossbow, was not enough to kill the lion. Cecil was tracked for nearly two days before Dr. Palmer killed him with a gun.

This sure sounds pretty dreadful, and if people don’t look any deeper and just react emotionally, it could lead them to doing some pretty foolish things ...

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Two signs posted on the door of a nondescript dental office here asked passers-by to mourn the death of Cecil, a lion who was lured off his sanctuary and killed during a game hunt this month in Zimbabwe.

“WE ARE CECIL,” one read; “#CatLivesMatter,” read another. Nearby was a sign with a darker message for the dentist who said he killed the cat: “ROT IN HELL.”

In the hours since Dr. Walter J. Palmer apologized for killing the lion, he has gone from a dentist and longtime hunting enthusiast to a villain at the center of a firestorm over the ethics of big-game trophy hunting.

“I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study, until the end of the hunt,” Dr. Palmer said in a statement. “I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt.”

The outrage and attention surrounding the lion’s death online caused Dr. Palmer to keep his office closed on Wednesday as he joined an ever-expanding group of people who have become targets of Internet vigilantism, facing a seemingly endless shaming until the next issue comes along.

Can we just back up here for a minute or so please?

First of all, you can’t just pick up your guns and bows and hop on a jet to Africa from Minnesota at a moment’s notice to go hunt one particular lion. Not even lions in general. Aside from aligning and reserving the complex array of travel arrangements, I’m sure there was also a vast array of visas, hunting licenses, weapons transport approval forms, hunting guide reservations and hiring and so on. Without a doubt it took weeks, if not months, to pay all the fees, cross all the “t"s and dot all the “i"s. And then ... 35 hours of travel time to get there? Not just the 4 to 6 flights to get him to that corner of Zimbabwe, but the day and a half spent driving out into the bush and setting up camp and so on. The point is, this wasn’t spur of the moment.

Next, oh noes, poor old Cecil was tricked, lured to his death by evil minions. Really? One particular lion out of hundreds? Thousands perhaps? How did that happen, and can we hire them for extracting needles from haystacks? This one particular lion, now in the 13th year of his maximum 14 year life span, lived in this game reserve. Look it up. Hwange National Park is 5,657 square miles. Five thousand six hundred fifty seven square miles! Which, if a square chunk of land, is a bit over 75 miles per side. And a dead donkey on a tow rope is going to lure a lion that far? Must be the most wonderfully ripe bit of carrion ever, to compete with all the dead and rotting zebras and antelope right there in the park itself! No, I think the truth is that Mr. Cecil was a border skulker, known to duck out of the park for some naughty lion highjinks and then zip back in before he could be caught out. Mr. Dindo Nuttin, with claws.

But then they shot him with an arrow, and left him for days to die. And then cut his head off and threw his body to the dogs!!  Yes, it’s called Africa. Welcome to it.  I am not a trophy hunter. I am not a night hunter either. Nor have I ever been on Safari, or even within 1,000 miles of the continent of Africa. So I don’t know jack. But if you have read any of those Safari stories (eq Death in the long grass) you’ll know that the hunt is rarely a clean one shot kill with instantaneous death. Almost always the wounded quarry has to be followed on, the blood trail and the spoor, the heat, the flies, the closed in tawny world of the savannah, and the final coup-de-gras at close quarters. Maybe that’s all cinematic bullshit, but maybe that’s the way it is. 500lb predators might just be quite hard to kill. Especially if you just wing one at night. Then what do you do?

As to the body being left behind ... yeah, so? You can’t eat lion. I don’t think even the natives will eat lion, and they’ll eat anything. Jackals and vultures eat lion. It’s their job. Other lions will eat lion too, because, while being Mighty Hunters, they’re also scavengers by lazy convenience.

So why is Dr. Palmer in such hot water? Because under that hoary old mane, Cecil wore a tracking collar. And a bunch of animal rights activists who have never seen any wild animal more fearsome than a squirrel, but who have seen Disney’s Lion King countless times, know that humans are all evil, especially the white ones, and that lions are all cuddly-wuddly and just want to be loved. And perhaps the good doctor forgot to pay off every last official in the country, so somebody in Zimbabwe ratted him out. Very glad to take his $55,000 “hunting fee”, but just as eager to throw his white ass to the media dogs and label him a poacher when the winky-dinks got upset. So now he has to pay. Because #CATLivesMatter. So let’s destroy him, his business, and his family. With just the click of a mouse. Because the internet is a far stronger weapon than any crossbow or rifle ever made. Welcome to the intolerant age of digital revenge. Social Justice for lions too!!

image

I wasn’t kidding about the cuddly-wuddly bit. The impromptu memorial to a dead lion outside Dr. Palmer’s office in Minnesota.

UPDATE

Proving once and for all that they are utterly disconnected from reality, PETA calls for the doc’s death. He killed a lion? Hang him!

PETA has released a shocking statement in the wake of Cecil the Lion’s death, saying the dentist who hunted and killed the animal should be killed.

“Hunting is a coward’s pastime,” PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement to Time. “If, as has been reported, this dentist and his guides lured Cecil out of the park with food so as to shoot him on private property, because shooting him in the park would have been illegal, he needs to be extradited, charged, and, preferably, hanged.”

2016: A New Direction?

100,000 attend virtual rally for Bernie Sanders

The communists amongst us?

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders told supporters they were making history as he live-streamed from a modest, packed, and steamy apartment in Washington, D.C on Wednesday night.

Delivering remarks off a yellow legal pad balanced precariously on a wobbly music stand, Sanders said no campaign has ever held such a large online organizing effort so early on in the campaign.

The American people are saying loudly and clearly enough is enough,” he said.

The Democratic presidential hopeful hit the major themes of his campaign, such as income inequality, raising the minimum wage, and campaign finance reform. But just weeks after the senator’s speech at a progressive event was interrupted by “Black Lives Matter” protestors, he stressed the need to “combat institutional racism in America” and criminal justice reform.

“We are tired of seeing black women yanked out of a car thrown to the ground. Assaulted, put in handcuffs and then sent to jail and die three days later in the case of Sandra Bland. For what crime? She didn’t signal.”

After thanking supporters for “for participating in this political revolution,” he handed over the event to a digital organizer to provide viewers with instructions on how to get involved.

The Vermont Independent’s campaign says more than 100,000 people signed up to attend one of 3,500 gatherings across the country. After the event he told the media “we never dreamed this campaign would move as quickly as it has and in fact part of the problem we are having is the campaign is moving much faster than our political infrastructure.”

So the far Left is fed up too? I’m sure their reasons are antipodal to the reasons the Right is POed, but this may be a positive harbinger. No one is happy with the status quo, and the center can not hold when pulled from both ends.  Unfortunately, with nobody in the middle, pulling can become tearing without shifting the balance much. That’s not good, but it is the culmination of where things have been heading for the past 15 years.

And on the Right, we’ve got Donald Trump, unafraid and speaking boldly, surging ahead in the polls by more than a 2 to 1 margin. Interesting how both Teh Donald and Bernie could share the same motto:

[Manisha Sharma, the host of the gathering] presented Sanders with a poster of Mahatma Gandhi with a quote which Sanders read: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and then you win,’” adding “maybe that is what this campaign is about.”

france and britain over run by new invasion, but this time, no defense

The French blame the Brits who they charge, are too easy on migrants. In a way, there could be some truth to that. Judges here have over ruled govt. attempts to control who should be deported. And that’s only the tip of this iceberg.  There’s the human and civil rights lawyers who weep daily for the poor downtrodden like the terrorists they defended, one of whom killed a policeman and plotted to use Ricin to poison the public. The other was a scum who plotted to bring down planes. Both convicted but human rights lawyers, who always manage to confuse vermin with humans, are back slapping each other and celebrating an, “amazing result” when they won an appeal. We can only hope that at some time, they and their families are the victims for a change.  Wonder if they’d still defend or appeal on behalf of their attackers. Assuming they survive.

Btw .... the papers report a senior police chief whose name I forgot already, some older lady anyway, says cops can’t respond to burglaries anymore, due to cuts and priorities like cyber crime and other stuff.  ??

Europe just will not save itself.  It will sacrifice itself in the name of human rights, and F*** the rights of their own population who are growing tired but numbers are not great enough to make a difference.

At least in Germany there are still two or three patriots left.  Seems a number of Syrian immigrants claim they no longer feel safe in Germany and want to go home. They say even in war torn homeland they are safer.
Oh if only we could believe them, and they’d all leave.

image

and you think the US has problems

Of course, spraying gas that isn’t poison or at the very least mustard gas, is not going to deter these animals.
It could all be over in one or two days, with poison gas and machine guns. A very final solution to the migrant problem. The rest back home would get a clue and stay or find anyplace else but the UK and the rest of Europe to infest. Kill them, and the “rights” lawyers who defend them.
That’s the only way to deal with a mob.  You have to destroy it and the ppl who enable them. Including the traffickers who bring them here.

DAILY MAIL COMMENT: It is time to end this migrant madness

In scenes of utter bedlam, thousands of illegal immigrants break through security fences and storm the Channel Tunnel, night after night, trying to jump aboard lorries bound for Britain.

At Calais, holidaymakers and haulage drivers sit petrified, windows and doors locked shut, as migrants brazenly try to clamber aboard their vehicles.

In Kent, the M20 is turned into a lorry park on a daily basis as services are cancelled by besieged Eurotunnel bosses. Local people are trapped in their homes, unable to make even short journeys on gridlocked roads.

The Calais shambles may have been building for months, but make no mistake: we are now witnessing a crisis which is having devastating repercussions across Britain.

Family holidays in mainland Europe, long planned and saved for, are being ruined.

Vital exports are suffering because businesses are unable to get their products out of the country. The Kent economy alone is losing £1.5 million a day.

Millions of pounds worth of food are being destroyed because of contamination by migrants jumping into lorries or because products cannot get through — potentially hiking up food prices for everyone.

The blame for this chaos is spread far and wide. Western leaders — chief among them David Cameron — created a gateway to mainland Europe from Africa by toppling Gaddafi in Libya, then abandoning the country to anarchy.

Up to to 3,000 migrants stormed the tunnel in 8 hours.

rising towards the end

We rolled to a pretty easy victory over the 2nd place team last night, taking 5-2. We flubbed the 10th frame of the 2nd game and wound up losing it by 4. Rats. One more mark! But the important thing is the 5 points won, since they were only in 2nd place by 1 or 2. So, with just 2 or 3 weeks to go, does that put us in 1st or 2nd? I don’t know, but we’re very close. So who knows, this could work out for us nicely.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
