GW Finally Speaks Out: Trashes Obama

In a closed-door meeting with Jewish donors on Saturday night, former President George W. Bush delivered his harshest public criticisms to date against his successor on foreign policy, saying that President Barack Obama is being naïve about Iran and the pending nuclear deal and losing the war against the Islamic State.
...
The former president, ... proceeded to explain why Obama, in his view, was placing the U.S. in “retreat” around the world. He also said Obama was misreading Iran’s intentions while relaxing sanctions on Tehran too easily.
...
Bush then went into a detailed criticism of Obama’s policies in fighting the Islamic State and dealing with the chaos in Iraq. On Obama’s decision to withdraw all U.S. troops in Iraq at the end of 2011, he quoted Senator Lindsey Graham calling it a “strategic blunder.”
...
Bush said he views the rise of the Islamic State as al-Qaeda’s “second act” and that they may have changed the name but that murdering innocents is still the favored tactic. He defended his own administration’s handling of terrorism, noting that the terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who confessed to killing Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, was captured on his watch: “Just remember the guy who slit Danny Pearl’s throat is in Gitmo, and now they’re doing it on TV.”

Obama promised to degrade and destroy Islamic State’s forces but then didn’t develop a strategy to complete the mission, Bush said. He said that if you have a military goal and you mean it, “you call in your military and say ‘What’s your plan?’ ” He indirectly touted his own decision to surge troops to Iraq in 2007, by saying, “When the plan wasn’t working in Iraq, we changed.”

“In order to be an effective president ... when you say something you have to mean it,” he said. “You gotta kill em.”
...
[ cough cough, ahem ] ( Bush also spoke about Putin ) ... Putin’s domestic popularity comes from his control of Russian media, according to Bush. “Hell, I’d be popular, too, if I owned NBC news,” he said. [ gee, do we know anybody like that? cough cough ]
...
Regarding Hillary Clinton, Bush said it will be crucial how she plays her relationship with the president. She will eventually have to choose between running on the Obama administration’s policies or running against them. If she defends them, she’s admitting failure, he said, but if she doesn’t she’s blaming the president.

For George W. Bush, the remarks in Vegas showed he has little respect for how the current president is running the world.

Don’t bother reading the thousands of comments. They’re nothing more than another fat dose of BDS. Still, for whatever Mr. Bush was or wasn’t as President, he has done the honorable thing and kept his opinions to himself for the past 6 years Maybe he feels that’s long enough.

drew’s weekender eye candy and a thought on old age

Drew’s Weekender Eye Candy reminded me of an incorrect expression I have heard over the years.
Which is.

Old age is not for sissies.

No. That is dead wrong.

Old age is not for randy old farts past it all who can only look and remember and then be damned just for the looking.

So anyway ....  here’s my contribution.

She was born this month in the year 1888, and became one of the most photographed women of the Edwardian age.
English actress, singer ....

LILY ELSIE (because some people just shouldn’t be forgot)

bizzy bee sunday

Dagnabbit we got skunked again at Fun League. This makes four weeks in a row that we’ve lost either all 7 or 5 of the 7. So we’re sinking like a rock. Hey, I’m bowling above average. And keeping my cool, and trying to be supportive when needed. Nothing I can do. The team is dissolving anyway; J can’t handle being in the same league as his ex, so he won’t be back next year. And while she dumped us like a hot potato in the fall to get away from him, now she’s fat and happy with her new team. So we’re left in the lurch, and find ourselves with only half a team in yet another league. I’m really getting tired of this crap.

OK, today is troffer day. Woo hoo. Time to collect all the tools here first. Flashlights, pliers, wire strippers, screwdrivers. Rope? Maybe. Two ladders ... I’ve hired the Mrs. to be my assistant for the day.  Duct tape? Yeah, always bring the duct tape. Vice Grips. Always want them around too.  Oy, I’m going to have to strap the ladders to the roof. Which means the nylon web straps will be singing, so I’ll try to do the twist thing this time to see if it stops them.

the really stupid do manage to thrive. and that’s one thing that’s wrong with our world

I’ve ranted and bitched about the addition of the letters “ism” to almost everything these politically correct days.  And the addition of the term “phobia” attached to various words.  It’s always, without any exception, placed there by the loony damn left and taken up by the press. Always pisses me off and we all know those terms are used as verbal cudgels against conservatives and anyone who dares question the red rats on the left.

Well, today I ran into another new one, new to me and possibly you as well.
Just what the hell is a “Transphobic?” I never saw the word before today, never heard it spoken either.
So I looked it up.
I got the following definition.

“Unreasoning hostility, aversion, etc., toward transgender people”.

I guess I should have been able to figure that out .

Seems a PC head teacher decided that children as young as three years old, should be made to sign a pledge , “Not to use transphobic language in nursery school.”

Here’s the schmuck who thought it up.

image

And here’s the story.

We live in a very sickly world when ppl like her thrive.  And altho it isn’t a part of this article, how’s this for the same sort of distorted thought process.

After a spate of rapes, a killing or two and assaults, the police in one city thought they should offer young women some good advice.
They had posters made up suggesting to the ladies to not allow a friend to wander off alone. When you go out together, stay together, always have a companion.  Simple, innocent.  Innocent?  Well not quite according to the more militant sisterhood of femi Nazis.
They were highly critical of the police and said the posters were patronizing and actually anti female.

That’s our screwed up world ppl.
Anyway .... on with the latest phobia.

Parents anger after children as young as THREE told to sign contract promising not to use ‘transphobic language’ at nursery

· Turnham Primary School demands pupils sign ‘agreement’ before starting
· Includes line asking children to ‘refrain from using...transphobic language’
· Shocked parents say asking three-year-olds to sign agreement is ‘bonkers’
· Chairman of school’s governing body apologised for any offence caused

By Eleanor Harding, Education Correspondent For The Daily Mail

Children as young as three are being asked to sign a contract pledging not to use transphobic language at school.
The pledge is contained in a ‘home-school agreement’ which all children must sign before they start at Turnham Primary School in September.

The infants must also promise to refrain from using homophobic and racist phrases and to be tolerant of people with different sexual orientations and lifestyles. Each child must print their name and provide a signature to confirm that they understand their ‘responsibilities’ while attending the school.

It is understood that teachers at the South-East London school introduced the document to help stamp out playground prejudice against transgender people and a wide range of disabilities and cultures.

But yesterday the chairman of governors said that they knew nothing about the change to the contract, which was also dismissed as ‘bonkers’ by parents who said pre-school children could not be expected to understand such complex issues.

Yesterday, one mother said: ‘My son is three yet he is meant to pledge not to use “transphobic” language.

This just fills me with dread about what sort of politically correct, tick-box bureaucracy runs this school.

‘How am I meant to explain it to my three-year-old that he must sign on the dotted line not to do something which he is not even aware exists when he can barely hold a crayon?

too funny

1988 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medal Winner Bruce Jenner, working towards gender realignment, the guy the LGBTXYZ crowd had hoped to make their ultimate poster child.

He gave a big interview to Diane Sawyer. And he came out.

As a REPUBLICAN CHRISTIAN.

“Of course I’m a Republican”, Bruce told her, “I believe in the Constitution.”

Diane physically recoiled to that remark. And the left instantly lost their proto-hero. Now they have to figure out how to hate on him without touching the trip wires. Hey I know, he must be rayciss ... after supporting every one of his natural and adoptive daughters going over to black guys.  D’oh!!!

A bit more at Weasel Zippers.

And isn’t the implication of the inverse of his statement just wonderful?

Nepal Earthquake

Thousands Dead In Nepal

7.8 Earthquake, >15 major aftershocks, buildings toppled, avalanches on Everest

image

Nearly 1,000 are known to have died in a powerful earthquake in Nepal, with many more feared trapped under rubble, officials say.

The 7.8 magnitude quake struck an area between the capital, Kathmandu, and the city of Pokhara, the US Geological Survey said.

Tremors were felt across the region, with further loss of life in India, Bangladesh, Tibet and on Mount Everest.

The government has declared a state of emergency in the affected areas.

A national police spokesman told the BBC that 970 people had died in the quake, and that more than 1,700 had been injured. At least 539 people were killed in the Kathmandu valley, he added.

Nepali Information Minister Minendra Rijal said there had been “massive damage” at the epicentre, from where little information is emerging.

image

World landmark Dharahara Tower has fallen

Major historic monuments in the Nepalese capital have been destroyed in the powerful earthquake, eyewitnesses and officials have said.

These include a nine-storey tower, temples and some parts of what was once a royal palace, all listed as Unesco world heritage sites.

Pictures posted on social media show some of the monuments have been reduced to rubble.

Eyewitnesses say several others now have cracks and could collapse.

Officials have said some temples and monuments at other world heritage sites near Kathmandu have also been damaged.

These sites are Nepal’s major tourist attractions.

The quake struck at 11:56 a.m. local time (2:11 a.m. ET), occurred at a depth of 9.3 miles, which is considered shallow and more damaging than a deeper quake. It was reported by people in the area as having lasted a long time. On person said he felt as if he were on a ship in rough seas.

The U.S. Geological Survey had at first rated the temblor at 7.5 magnitude but later upgraded the strength. It reported aftershocks of 6.6 and 5.1 magnitude, among many others others. The USGS said, at least 15 aftershocks of magnitude 4.5 or greater had been felt in Nepal so far.

One witness told CNN by phone that people had gathered outdoors in fear. Another said via Facebook that people were listening for news on their car radios.

“We are scared and waiting for the tremors to end,” Shiwani Neupane said on Facebook chat from Kathmandu. “We are all sitting outside because there is more news of another quake.

“There is no power and families are listening to the FM radio inside their cars,” Neupane said. “News of multiple building collapses. I’ve seen many cracked walls and roads and buildings. The (Dharahara, a landmark tower in Kathmandu) was packed with people a while ago. There are police everywhere trying to move rubble to make space on the roads for ambulances. Everyone is very scared.”

The force of the quake was said by people who contacted the USGS to be from “severe” to “violent,” nearly the highest rating on the intensity scale. Tremors were felt as far as New Delhi, more than 200 miles away in neighboring India. An official said they were felt there at magnitude 5.0.

With the roads cut by the quakes, as well as damage to the airport, not to even mention how the whole country is at the top of the world, and in the total back of beyond, rescue and relief efforts are going to be very difficult. With cold weather, a lack of shelter, food, water, sanitation ... expect the death toll to climb drastically.

TNB: Once Again, You Don’t Even Have To Read Past The HeadLine To ID The Perps

Massive Fight At Philly Train Station

image

Philadelphia, PA (My9,NJ) - Multiple, vicious fights broke out on the SEPTA platform at Philadelphia’s Spring Garden Station and was all caught on surveillance camera.

Groups of high schoolers attacked each other.

Some of the teens were seen stomping on each other’s heads and one teen even fell on the tracks.

SEPTA hopes the surveillance video will lead to identifying the combatants and police arrests.

SEPTA officials have talked to two of the victims and found out those involved are students from Ben Franklin High School.

Apologistas claim that this kind of mob mentality is just for kicks, a way of blowing off steam, and a way to become famous. A form of immortality, since it appears that the whole reason for fights like this is to post the thing to YouTube.

Law Enforcement officials have beefed up presence, and are getting tired of this shizz.

SPRING GARDEN (WPVI)— Officials have released new information and video from a fight involving students on the Broad Street Line.

The massive after school brawl happened at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Spring Garden Station.

SEPTA says not one person, even the victims, have reported the fight. Authorities only discovered the fight after later seeing surveillance footage.

The video shows it was chaos on the platform as more than a dozen students went at it.

There was punching, there was kicking, and one teenager was repeatedly stomped in the head.

One young man even fell onto the tracks during the fight - something that could have taken a tragic turn if a train had been coming.

SEPTA says it has identified two of the victims who attend Ben Franklin High School. Now they’re working with the school district, not only to identify the other students involved, but to prevent these violent actions from happening again.

SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel reacted to the fight by saying, “It’s an outrageous event. This is so dangerous it’s not even funny. We have operating trains down there, there are passengers waiting for the train. You see somebody falls into the track area. It’s horrendous.”

SEPTA says that there are more police officers at the Spring Garden stop, and at about ten other hot spots they have identified. All of the hotspots are near schools and are trouble when students are dismissed from school.

Their officers and the school district already communicate but now their efforts will increase during what has been a busy spring of senseless after-school acts.

“discovered the fight after later seeing surveillance footage”?? Does that imply that there is no one actually watching the CCTV cameras in real time? Or that they are watched, but the watchers didn’t bother to call the po-po? Stitches for snitches, or just free entertainment for the camera watchers, who have a very high likelihood of looking just like the fighters, only a bit older?

About the A**holes in Florida

I am as disgusted as anyone by the actions of the ZBT fraternity members in Florida.  Here is the text of the letter I have sent to them:

Subject Line:  You Have Brought Shame on All of Us

To the ZBT organization,

As a Jew and the son of a military veteran, I am mortified that any organization with Jewish roots, would permit any of its members to behave so disgracefully toward any American military veteran, let alone military veterans who were disabled.  They have brought shame on ALL Jews by their disrespectful actions.

After the debacle in Florida, the only possible redemption for your organization is to very publicly expel the offenders from your organization.

Yours truly,
Jeff *****

If any of your care to express your opinions to the ZBT leadership, here is their email address:

zbt @ zbtnational.org
(I could not get the email address to post normally, so please remove the extra spaces when you use it)

Their phone number:  (317) 334-1898

...and

Headquarters Staff

Supreme Council

Zeta Beta Tau Foundation Board of Directors

I will not accept such unrighteous assholes as any relation of mine.

image

[ Drew’s addition - in case you hadn’t heard the news about these twerps - is that they spat, pissed, and vomited on a group of disabled veterans at a hotel in Panama City FL, while jeering at them and being abusive.  The frat has been suspended. ]

The University of Florida suspended one of its fraternities on Friday after allegations that its members hurled drunken insults and spat at a group of disabled military veterans at a Panama City Beach resort.

The school said on Friday that it is charging the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity with obscene behavior, public intoxication, theft, causing physical or other harm, and damage to property.

The suspension came after the fraternity had already suspended operations itself and expelled three of its members after finding they had behaved inappropriately.

“I am personally offended and disappointed by the behavior that has been described to me,” Dave Kratzer, the school’s student affairs vice president and retired U.S. Army major general, said in a statement.

The situation occurred while the fraternity and veterans with the Warrior Beach Retreat were at the Laketown Wharf Resort last weekend. The veterans were there for an annual retreat meant to honor their service, and the fraternity had a social function.

Linda Cope, founder of the warrior group, says the frat members were extremely drunk, and were urinating on flags and verbally abusive.

“They were urinating off of balconies, vomiting off of balconies. They could see the men and women below were there with the retreat. They had on hats and shirts with logos,” Cope said.

Members of Zeta Beta Tau from the University of Florida and Emory University in Georgia were attending their spring formals at the resort. Emory officials have said they are investigating, but so far there’s no evidence to implicate their students.

About 60 veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan were attending the retreat that has been held twice a year for the past six years at the resort. Cope started the event in honor of her son Joshua, who lost both legs in Baghdad in 2006 when a roadside bomb exploded under his Humvee.

After the incident, Cope sent a letter to University of Florida President Ken Fuchs and described students spitting on veterans, throwing beer bottles over a balcony and ripping flags off their cars.

Local police did respond, but no criminal charges were filed.

student union equality event tries to ban all men and white folks.

Student Union’s equality event that banned all men and whites

Wanna bet if a white group announced a meet that excluded the over protected and favored special racial groups, there’d be riots and cars and buildings burned and all sorts of mayhem.

I suppose the good news is that not all of her fellow students agreed with her.  Amazing what’s allowed to attend schools.

Photos and more are here for the rest

Pictured: Diversity officer who banned whites from her ‘anti-racism’ event at British university wiping away fake tear in front of ‘no white men’ sign

· Elected diversity officer Bahar Mustafa caught in racism and sexism row
· Facebook picture shows her faking tears in front of a ‘no white men’ sign
· She was criticised after planning diversity meeting that banned white men
· Goldsmiths University students arranged meeting to ‘diversify curriculum’

By Martin Robinson for MailOnline

This is the university equality officer at the centre of a sexism and racism row pictured in front of a ‘no white men’ sign showing their tears dripping into a cup.

image

A picture of Bahar Mustafa, 27, student union Welfare and Diversity Officer at Goldsmiths University in London, pretending to cry was posted online as she was being accused of discrimination.

The handmade poster also refers to a ban on ‘cis’ or cisgender men, a term used of those whose mental gender and physical sex match, which is the opposite of transgender.

The event’s online page said it was open to ‘self-defining BLACK and ETHNIC MINORITY women and non-binary people with gender identities that include “woman”.’

A notice about the meeting later appeared to show the ban had been dropped, stating: ‘Allies now welcome!’

The post was met with outrage by students of the university, one of whom described the exclusive policy as ‘patronising beyond belief’. The story was covered by student newspaper The Tab just hours after Miss Mustafa first posted the image.

Goldsmiths’ union eventually backed down after a backlash from students.

The ban on men and white students is surprising, since the organisers claim to promote ‘zero tolerance’ for ‘all forms of prejudice, discrimination and oppression’.
A senior union member told student newspaper The Tab that Miss Mustafa’s actions had made it ‘very difficult’ for male students.
In the hours after the story made national news yesterday, a friend of Miss Mustafa again posted the picture of her pretending to cry to Facebook.
He wrote: ‘When you thought the cup in the picture was big enough for white tears’.

In February, Miss Mustafa, whose Twitter biography says she is ‘queer, anti-racist feminist killjoy’, also organised a ‘BME ONLY social’ before showing the film Dear White People.

Today her friends posted supportive messages on her Facebook page and also offered her a place to stay if she needed it.

But not everyone was so supportive.
One Facebook friend, called Jessie, wrote: ‘You do not speak for me. I voted you into the position of Welfare and Diversity Officer.

‘Your passion is inspiring. But I can’t defend this. We cannot best “them” by being them. We cannot demand to be included by excluding.

‘To specifically exclude a group of people from any event is to become the oppressor. As the oppressed, we should not wish to inflict upon others that pain which we know to be harmful to us.

‘This is not the Goldsmiths I love’.

un big shot critical of how brit press writes regarding immigration, calls for censorship

Well now, so now the UN is in the business of telling civilians what to say and not say. And btw … if you take a look at most of the so called migrants who are all in total, illegal , ‘cockroaches’ is apt.

On the subject of sub human like life forms, who I am happy to learn 900 of which are now with Davy Jones, the left wing Labour Party here is blaming those deaths on the conservatives and specifically on the Prime Minister.

Anyway …. While I don’t know who this Katie is, three cheers for saying out loud what many think but are afraid to say openly.
The press, even the conservative press, continues to describe the drownings as a tragic event.  Bullshit.

They should be cause for wild and exuberant celebration.

Katie Hopkins is criticised by the UNITED NATIONS for ‘reflecting a nasty underbelly of racism’ after calling migrants ‘cockroaches’

· UN High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned Katie Hopkins’
· Zeid Ra’ad Al Husein urged Britain to crack down on ‘inciting racial hatred’
· Compared Hopkins’ ‘cockroaches’ comment to language employed by Rwandan media outlets in the run-up to the 1994 genocide
· He also likened her words to Nazi propaganda during the 1930s

By John Hall for MailOnline

The UN’s rights chief has urged Britain to crack down on tabloid newspapers inciting racial hatred after a columnist for The Sun called migrants ‘cockroaches’.
In a hard-hitting statement, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Husein said Katie Hopkins had used language similar to that employed by some Rwandan media outlets in the run-up to the 1994 genocide, and by the Nazis in the 1930s.
He said the April 17 article in the newspaper was reflective of a ‘nasty underbelly of racism that is characterising the migration debate in an increasing number of EU countries’.

CONTINUES

I really resent it and don’t think white folks should be ordered around or told what to say by anyone with a name like Zeid Ra’ad Al Husein, or any combination thereof.  His demand that the UK crack down on the press as they most likely do in his country, his comment regarding inciting race hatred is way off the mark.  That hatred is brought upon by the maggots flooding Europe and the UK to a point where folks born and raised here are being told how to act and speak regarding immigration. Most no longer even recognise their own country.

Here’s a prediction bmews readers.  In another thousand years and maybe less, one of your descendents will say to their kid,
Jayvon Mustaffa, did you know that way back in time one of our ancestors was white?

And finally, it’s reported today that Italy has announced they expect 5,000 a week. Think about that.

Oh yeah, maybe you haven’t heard it yet.
Although the numbers are not as large in the USA with would be fighters getting to Syria to join up with ISIS, the largest number are made up of Somalis living in America.

Please Don’t Snow

NO NO NO NO !!!!

image

It’s a week out from May. And it’s 35°F here. With wind.

WTF?

A significant cooldown has swept into parts of the Midwest and Northeast, so hopefully you haven’t put away your jacket yet after enjoying a taste of spring last week.

This flip to a cooler temperature regime is due to an upper-level trough that has dipped southward into the Midwest, dragging modified Canadian air from the northern Plains to the Northeast. This upper-level trough will make slow progress eastward which will allow the cool temperatures to remain in place.

The air mass has even been cold enough for snow in some locations.

As of Wednesday night, up to 12 inches of snow was reported in Bessemer, Michigan. Some higher terrain locations in western Pennsylvania, western Maryland and northern West Virginia have also seen a few inches of snow.

Early Thursday afternoon, scattered snow showers were observed in parts northern Pennsylvania and Upstate New York with temperatures in the 30s and wind chills in the 20s. Snow flurries were reported in the Boston area on Friday morning.

The chilly conditions will continue as we close out the week.

Spring was already nearly a month late in getting here. And all that Anthropogenic Global Warming and Climate Change made Winter last forever, coming in early and staying late, with an almost constant snow cover here from Thanksgiving to the week before Palm Sunday. That’s enough. Go away. Go away and stay away.

I am going to stamp my feet and hold my breath until I get my way. Because that always works.

new work

Oh boy, I get to install an LED troffer.

A troffer is the generic name for those lighting fixtures you see built into the white textured fiberboard tile ceiling in most businesses and offices.  A classic unit takes 4 T12 F40CW fluorescent bulbs, which consumes about 160 watts for the bulbs and 15 watts for the ballasts. That’s rather old school, pre-1988, but the things often last 50 years. Newer ballasts, the “electronic” kind, that use the newer design slender T8 F32CW bulbs can get the power consumption down to 130 watts. The LED troffer uses 59 watts.

While it is really great to not have to use as much electricity, the main concern is providing adequate lighting. Generally the consumer thinks of this as the number of lumens a light produces. A 4 bulb T8 troffer makes around 11,400 lumens, whereas the LED troffer makes 5,000 lumens. But there is a lot more to it than that, and the bottom line is that the 4 bulb T8 has an Effective Lumens rating of 5,130 lumens, and the LED unit has an Effective Lumens rating of 3,850 lumens. So no, it isn’t as bright. BUT while the fluorescent bulbs make light in varying amounts across the whole spectrum, from ultraviolet to infrared and including some frequencies that the human eye isn’t very sensitive to, the LED bulbs make light only in several specific highly visible frequencies. So cut the T8’s Effective Lumens rating by a third and call that the Visually Effective Lumens. 3437 lumens. And now the LED unit pulls ahead, because all of it’s Effective Lumens are usable ones. So a 59 watt fixture that will run for 16 business years (6 days/wk @ 10hrs/day) appears brighter than a 175 watt fixture that will use 6 sets of bulbs in that same time period.

So they pay for themselves, even with installation labor, in under 4 years.

Sure, it’s grunt work to rip the old one out and put the new one in. And I’m expecting a face full of dust, and I’m expecting the ceiling tiles to be just a little bit off so that installation is a bitch. But hey, high output LEDs to play with. Kewl.  And I learned a new word: scotopic.

Here’s a neat little scientific paper on the subject. Visually Effective Lumens. This rocks. The lamp shops like to point out that a blue shifted 5000K bulb is good for reading, but they probably don’t know why. Rods baby. Scotopic illumination. Have you ever read a book under one of these OttLites? They’re awesome.

UPDATE - fuggit. Given the time constraints involved (get it done yesterday or before), and the not-quite-there-yet-ishness of LED fixtures, I’m going with 2 cheap-ass old school 4 bulb T8 fixtures. And even with the best of blue shifted “scotopic light”, a mail order only 6900 lumen 5000K LED unit just doesn’t deliver the same light punch. It needs to be about 8500 lumens. The best LED fixture I could find locally was 5000 lumens at 4000K, which is nearly even with a 2 bulb T8 fixture. Nice, but I’m replacing two 4 bulb units. So this wasn’t even half as bright as needed, and the light wasn’t color shifted at all, so the lumens were comparable one to one.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
