US Air Force Takes Out Domestic Enemy

Remember Michael Crook? The brain-damaged idiotarian who ran ForsakeTheTroops.info web site? The nut-case who got sliced and diced by Sean Hannity?

Well, several of our outstanding US Air Force personnel decided enough was enough. Mr. Crook’s web site has been carpet-bombed ....

BOMBS AWAY!

Most Ridiculous Item Of The Day

A Russian astrologer is suing NASA for “disturbing the alignment of the heavens” with yesterday’s comet-smash ....

MOSCOW - NASA’s mission that sent a space probe smashing into a comet raised more than cosmic dust — it also brought a lawsuit from a Russian astrologer. Marina Bai has sued the U.S. space agency, claiming the Deep Impact probe that punched a crater into the comet Tempel 1 late Sunday “ruins the natural balance of forces in the universe,” the newspaper Izvestia reported Tuesday. A Moscow court has postponed hearings on the case until late July, the paper said.

Scientists say the crash did not significantly alter the comet’s orbit around the sun and said the experiment does not pose any danger to Earth. The probe’s comet crash sent up a cloud of debris that scientists hope to examine to learn how the solar system was formed.

Bai is seeking damages totaling $300 million — the approximate equivalent of the mission’s cost — for her “moral sufferings,” Izvestia said, citing her lawyer Alexander Molokhov. She earlier told the paper that the experiment would “deform her horoscope.”

I see the moon is in the house of insanity this week. Idiocy rules your sign. Be very careful around lawyers until this heavenly conjunction passes.

Dump Africa

I have had it with Africa. Ever since the natives threw out their colonial “masters” the entire neighborhood has gone to the dogs. Poverty is rampant as former tribal warlords build little empires and exterminate their rivals with genocide that is unparalleled in world history. Entire countries full of people are being displaced by these petty tyrants who hire gangs of thugs to roam the countryside raping, murdering and destroying everything in their path.

AIDS is running rampant on the continent and millions are dying every year because of unprotected sex, tribal taboos, superstitions and the local government’s complete lack of concern. The people who don’t fall prey to AIDS are dying of deadly viruses like Ebola that are spreading due to lack of any kind of hygiene or sanitation. Again, local governments don’t seem to care.

The West has poured billions of dollars into the continent, the majority of it from the United States and the money is being pissed away by the warlords like Robert Mugabe who spend the money on guns and armaments for their militias instead of food and medicine for their people. In addition to the billions donated to these “nations” in Africa, more billions are borrowed by these countries to finance fancy palaces for the tribal warlords who are now in control.

How far should the West go before we have to just throw in the towel and give it up as a lost cause? They say if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day but if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. What do you do if the idiots refuse to learn how to fish and fight among themselves over the fish you’re giving them? In my personal opinion, sooner or later you have to cut your losses and give up. Let them revert all the way back to savagery instead of temporarily holding them halfway between barbarism and civilization. If you don’t, they’ll just keep begging for more handouts while they drain the world’s resources in a vain attempt to help them ....

(BBC) Leaders at the African Union summit in Libya are preparing to release a final declaration expected to appeal for the continent’s debts to be wiped out. They are also likely to call for fairer terms of trade with the West, while stressing their desire for better governance and transparency. The meeting ends a day before the G8 summit of the world’s richest nations.

On Monday, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi told other African leaders to “stop begging” for Western charity.

But the final declaration is likely to urge the G8 to end all $350bn of African debt, not just the $40bn planned. The statement will also see a call for Africa to be given two permanent seats on the UN Security Council - although how the two posts will be allocated remains undecided. African Union chairman and Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo told the 53 delegates the continent was moving from a past of military coups to a future of good governance.

Mr Obasanjo, who will be attending the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, called for “massive” financial help from the West and to expand debt relief for Africa. “This is not the time for a lot of talk but more of a time for serious and concerted action,” he told the gathering in the town of Sirte. The BBC’s Mike Donkin says the meeting in Libya has also been about proving to hopefully committed Western partners that African leaders will honour their side of any future bargain.

Mr Obasanjo’s remarks contrasted with those of Col Gaddafi, who said Africa should refuse all conditional aid and some offers of help from former colonial powers. In a 30-minute speech which received muted applause from African leaders, the Libyan leader said: “We are not beggars at the doorsteps of the rich.”

Qadaffi-Duck is right. Stop begging and get your act together. Then we’ll help. Not a moment sooner. And about those seats on the UN Security Council .... only in your dreams!

My Name Is Ozymandias, King Of BVD’s

My, how the mighty have fallen. You just have to know that you’ve reached the very bottom of the food chain and attained status of relative unimportance in the affairs of men when the raunchiest yellow-tabloid in England prints pictures of you sitting in jail in your underwear, right? No? What could be worse than that, you ask? Well, what could be worse is if you decide to sue the paper and they reply, “NANNY-NANNY-BOO-BOO!” and then they publicly stick out their tongue at you.

What’s a poor, down-on-his-luck, mass-murdering, ex-dictator to do? Why, I’m glad you asked, Saddam. Why not call our BMEWS Ex-Dictator Helpline right now at 1-800-EAT-SHIT and when the operator answers, use the code word “MORON” for a discount on your first therapy session ....

imageOzymandias

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed,
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

--Percy Bysshe Shelley

Editor’s Note: For the great, unwashed illiterate masses out there in the Blue States, Percy Shelley was perhaps one of the greatest of Britain’s 19th century poets (and maybe of all time). However, in today’s modern “culture” he is a relative unknown compared to his wife, Mary Shelley, who wrote .... ”Frankenstein”. Now you know.

Gratuitous PETA Nekkidness

PETA strips .. Bulls snort .. We report .. You decide ....

imageimageMADRID (AFP) - A Spanish court in the northern region of Navarra authorised a nude demonstration next month by animal rights campaigners determined to use bare-faced cheek to protest at the traditional San Fermin or “running of the bulls” festival in Pamplona.

The court said the protesters could go ahead as long as they did so in a way which “does not affect good civic customs.”

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) group, which has protested against the event in the past, says it wants to highlight its opposition by organising a rival run by naked humans protesting cruelty to the bulls.

The nine-day San Fermin festival, due to start on July 6, traditionally involves hundreds of runners, including many tourists, trying to outrace a herd of bulls, who chase them throughout the town’s narrow streets in a tradition that goes back centuries.

Amid further concern about last year’s outbreak of blue tongue disease, a virus which forced restrictions on livestock movements in southern Spain, PETA asked Pamplona’s mayor to make the planned Running of the Nudes the official event this year, campaign coordinator Yvonne Taylor recently explained.

The event has resulted in the deaths of 14 spectators, and of an unknown number of bulls, since records began in 1911.

A View From The Dark Side ….

OK, gang! Here ya go. This gentleman seems to be agrieved by Darth Rove’s statements ....

I’ve refrained from jumping into the fray on the Daou Report, and I’ve done my level best to fairly reflect the honest views of bloggers across the political spectrum (whether I agree or not), but Rove’s 9/11 comments are fighting words, and as a proud American, I won’t sit by and take that kind of shit from anyone.

I just posted this:

I’m devoting much of today’s report to Karl Rove’s vile comments denigrating half of the American public. My office overlooks Ground Zero, and I’m looking at the gaping footprint as I write this. My wife and I were in New York that day, on our way to the WTC for a morning meeting. A chance phone call dragged on a few minutes too long and most likely saved our lives. I lost friends in the towers, and when I walk past the site, as I do almost every evening, the pain is as real as it was on September 11th, 2001.

I spent my youth in Beirut during the height of Lebanon’s civil war, and I fought the Syrian presence in Lebanon long before the “Cedar Revolution.” I watched young boys give their lives and mothers cradle their dying children in blood-soaked arms. I’ve seen more bloodshed, war, and violence, and shot more guns than most of the 101st Fighting Keyboardists combined. I wouldn’t presume to question the strength or dignity of a stranger, and I pity those who blithely push the right=strong, left=weak rhetoric. It says far more about their inadequacies than it does about the target of their scorn. Today, Karl Rove took that rhetoric to a new, filthy low.

Go ahead. Pile on! Tell this gentleman what you think ....

Another One Bites The Dust

From the obituary pages of the Tucson.com classified pages ....

imageimageCorwyn (Cory) William Zimbleman
Tucson, AZ (formerly of Champaign, IL)

Age 53. Born April 18, 1952 to the late Willard and Gilda (Ebert) Zimbleman, died June 10, 2005. Throughout his life Cory was an extraordinary artist. His artistic talent and imagination would bring awe to all who viewed his work. His works grace an LP cover and numerous books; using Computer Aided Design (CAD) he designed home and business exteriors, interiors, and furniture for several architectural firms. His talent went beyond the fine arts as he added sculpturing, woodworking, metals, and other mediums to his repertoire. Having never gained the recognition he deserved in his own lifetime his family hopes to publish a book of his works. Another of his passions was herpetology. As a child he was always bringing home reptiles. His friends nicknamed him “Snake.” He even built a turtle pond in his backyard. An avid atheist, he studied the bible and religion with more fervor than most Christians. He had strong political opinions and followed Amy Goodman’s radio broadcast “Democracy Now.” Alas the stolen election of 2000 and living with right-winged Americans finally brought him to his early demise. Stress from living in this unjust country brought about several heart attacks rendering him disabled. Cory, a great man, so very talented, compassionate and intelligent, dedicated to the arts and humanities and the environment, will be greatly missed by his wife, family, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Montiel; his step-daughter, Esperanza Hernandez both of Tucson; his brother, Mike (Dana) of St. Louis, MO; his sisters, Susan St. Claire of San Jose, CA and Laura Zimbleman of Ypsilanti, MI, and his turtles Heidie, Skinhead and Studley and many other pets. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2005 from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., please call 883-2862 for information. Cremation has taken place.

Without sounding too morbid, I would like to thank Cory for giving up his share of the stolen oil from Iraq and slaughtered caribou in ANWR. Thanks, Cory. That’s more for the rest of us.

It’s All About The Money, Part II

Well, hell! I want my cut, dangit! Joining the “Runaway Bride” in the “book/movie deal club” is Deep Throat and his family ....

Deep Throat Family Cuts Publishing, Film Pacts
Tom Hanks to Develop Movie About Secret Watergate Source
By Bob Thompson
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, June 16, 2005

Deep Throat has a book deal and a movie deal, and he could end up being played by Tom Hanks.

The family of 91-year-old W. Mark Felt, who revealed his role as The Washington Post’s key Watergate source two weeks ago, has chosen PublicAffairs Books to publish a combination of autobiography and biography, publisher and CEO Peter Osnos said last night. Osnos said that Universal Pictures has optioned Felt’s life story and the book for a movie to be developed by Hanks’s production company, Playtone.

He said the book will blend Felt’s own writing about his life, including his out-of-print 1979 memoir, “The FBI Pyramid: From the Inside,” and some unpublished material, with contributions from Felt’s family and from lawyer John D. O’Connor, who has been advising the Felts. O’Connor wrote the Vanity Fair article that named Felt as Deep Throat after the secret had been kept for 33 years.

The additional material from Felt, Osnos said, includes discussion of how he decided to provide guidance to Post reporter Bob Woodward, and why.

The book is to be published next spring. Its working title is “A G-Man’s Life: The FBI, Being ‘Deep Throat’ and the Struggle for Honor in Washington.”

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION .... CHA-CHING!

Help Wanted: Massachusetts Minutemen

From the “No Shit, Sherlock” Department, we have this blindingly obvious story of total idiocy from the land of witch burnings, tea parties and midnight rides ....

BOSTON (Reuters) - Massachusetts lawmakers on Thursday called for a closer look at border security after customs officials allowed a man carrying a sword, a hatchet, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood to cross the U.S.-Canadian border.

Two days after being allowed into the United States in late April, Gregory Despres, 22, was arrested in Massachusetts in connection with the beheading of his elderly neighbor and the stabbing death of his wife in the New Brunswick town of Minto.

“a man carrying a sword, a hatchet, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with .. blood”? .... and no one thought to ask this nice man if he was arriving for business or pleasure? I give up. Go ahead, take me away to the insane asylum. There are more lunatics on the outside than there are on the inside. In fact, Massachusetts appears to be over its quota of deranged people in political office and guarding the borders, not to mention the occasional visiting barbarian.

Massachusetts Moonbattery

Today, from the state that brought us Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and other assorted useless human beings, we have a new asshat. He is state Rep. James Marzilli, Jr. and for recent legislation he introduced, we are giving him the AssClown Award ....

Spanking Illegal In Massachusetts?
Proposed Bill Would Outlaw Corporal Punishment For Children

BOSTON—Should parents be allowed to spank their children? Massachusetts lawmakers will be debating that question following the filing of a bill that would ban corporal punishment in the commonwealth.

NewsCenter 5’s Kelly Tuthill reported that state Rep. James Marzilli, Jr., of Arlington, Mass., is one of the sponsors of the bill, which prohibits everything from spanking to “hot saucing,” which involves putting undiluted Tabasco sauce in a child’s mouth.

In April, a Plymouth, Mass., father landed on the front page of local papers and behind bars after he used a belt to spank his son Josh, 12.

“He forgot his book. I went upstairs, I got my belt. I came downstairs. I gave him three swats on the rear end, with his pants on, like any concerned parent would do, and scared him, of course, you know. Hopefully I got the point across,” Charles Enloe said.

But now, lawmakers are considering making “the willfull infliction of physical pain on children under 18,” illegal. The measure would prohibit corporal punishment including whipping, spanking and pinching. Also forbidden would be washing a child’s mouth out with soap and administering electric shocks.

Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
