Miscellaneous

First, let me start off with a joke one of the guys at work told me as we were clocking off for the day:

Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama go to heaven.

God addresses Al first.. “Al, what do you believe in?”

Al replies: “Well, I believe that I won that election, but that it was your will that I did not serve. And I’ve come to understand that now.”

God thinks for a second and says: “Very good. Come and sit at my left.”

God then addresses Bill . “ Bill , what do you believe in?”

Bill replies: “I believe in forgiveness. I know I have sinned, and hope I will be forgiven. I’ve never held a grudge against my fellow man, and I hope no grudges are held against me.”

God thinks for a second and says: “You are forgiven, my son. Come and sit at my right.’’

Then God addresses Barack. “Barack, what do you believe in?”

He replies: “I believe you’re in my chair.”

Well, that’s where I found it after Jeff told it at work.

The war against… toilet paper:

There is a battle for America’s behinds.

It is a fight over toilet paper: the kind that is blanket-fluffy and getting fluffier so fast that manufacturers are running out of synonyms for “soft” (Quilted Northern Ultra Plush is the first big brand to go three-ply and three-adjective).

It’s a menace, environmental groups say — and a dark-comedy example of American excess.

The reason, they say, is that plush U.S. toilet paper is usually made by chopping down and grinding up trees that were decades or even a century old. They want Americans, like Europeans, to wipe with tissue made from recycled paper goods.

It has been slow going. Big toilet-paper makers say that they’ve taken steps to become more Earth-friendly but that their customers still want the soft stuff, so they’re still selling it.

This summer, two of the best-known combatants in this fight signed a surprising truce, with a big tissue maker promising to do better. But the larger battle goes on — the ultimate test of how green Americans will be when nobody’s watching.

“At what price softness?” said Tim Spring, chief executive of Marcal Manufacturing, a New Jersey paper maker that is trying to persuade customers to try 100 percent recycled paper. “Should I contribute to clear-cutting and deforestation because the big [marketing] machine has told me that softness is important?”

He added: “You’re not giving up the world here.”

Toilet paper is far from being the biggest threat to the world’s forests: together with facial tissue, it accounts for 5 percent of the U.S. forest-products industry, according to industry figures. Paper and cardboard packaging makes up 26 percent of the industry, although more than half is made from recycled products. Newspapers account for 3 percent.

But environmentalists say 5 percent is still too much.

Doesn’t look recycled. Just looks used…

Gaddafi honours Scotland with pipers at 40th anniversary party to thank them for Megrahi’s release

Gee, Mr. Nice Guy huh.  What a revolting piece of work this guy is.  Why oh why couldn’t we have taken him out?

Anyway ... see the link for loads more photos, the rest of the article and a video, which really isn’t worth watching.

Thankfully, the papers say that the west shunned his celebration.  All that oil. All that money.

Gaddafi’s 40th anniversary celebration includes simulation of the hanging of his political enemies.

Pipers in traditional kilts were the centrepiece at Colonel Gaddafi’s 40th anniversary celebrations because he wanted to ‘honour’ Scotland for freeing the Lockerbie bomber, it emerged today.

In scenes set to deepen the anger over the release of Abdelbaset Al Megrahi, the band played traditional marching songs during a military tattoo.

Images of the 57-year-old convicted killer - who is too ill to attend in person - were then broadcast on massive screens in central Tripoli.

Pictures of Abdelbaset Al Megrahi’s hero’s return to Libya were shown during celebrations of Colonel Gaddafi’s 40 years in power last night

An organiser of the event, which was broadcast around the globe, said: ‘Colonel Gaddafi wanted to show the world his support for Scotland.

‘The freeing of al-Megrahi was a highlight of the Colonel’s time in office and he wanted to honour Scotland for it.’

Widespread revulsion greeted the pictures broadcast from Tripoli last night, which Colonel Gaddafi had agreed to distribute internationally for free.

It increases accusations the dictator is revelling in the diplomatic coup that led to Megrahi being released from a Scottish prison last month.

He was freed and allowed to return home to his family in Libya on compassionate grounds because he is dying of prostate cancer.

Now a Libyan national hero, he was today said to be ‘honoured and proud’ to have played a starring role in the celebrations, which he watched from his hospital bed.

Taxpayer pays gypsies to lean how to beat planning rules, and fund course on assertiveness training.

Here comes that old curtain of red mist dropping over the eyes yet again.

This place really does have to be totally outta their collective minds. Or what passes for it.

I got the following paragraph in an email newsletter which isn’t worth an entire post. But coupled with the traveler/gypo thing, they’re a match.
Gee whiz. A budget black hole.  Wonder why.

Councils hit by £4 billion budget black hole
A new survey by the Local Government Association has revealed that local authorities face a £4billion hole in their budgets due to falls in income from sources such as property sales and interest on cash reserves as a result of the recession. Sir Jeremy Beecham, vice-chairman of the LGA, is quoted: “Town halls are feeling the effect of the recession in exactly the same way as hard pressed home owners and families.

This is only one of two two blood boiling stories that appeared today. Can you people believe how stupid these folks have become?  Is it the air? The water? Were they simply born idiots and so aren’t responsible?  See for yourselves.

How gipsies got £5m of Lottery cash to beat planning rules… and fund course on assertiveness training

Daily Mail

Travellers have claimed almost £5million in government funding to help them get around planning laws.

Money from the Big Lottery Fund, which is supposed to be used to help good causes, has gone on advising gipsy and Roma groups how to set up illegal camps and get services there.

The projects funded from the public purse include a programme to help traveller groups in the East Midlands ‘to better understand and have a meaningful input into planning policies’.

image
Planning help: Gipsies are getting advice on building sites such as this one in Warwickshire

The money paid for a project worker to ‘organise seminars and forum meetings’ at which travellers were able to ‘engage with the planners and policy makers’.

Gipsies elsewhere in the country received advice on how to claim accommodation and benefits, and were given media training to win over residents in rural areas.

And those who find travelling groups intimidating will be astonished to learn those in one London borough were even given assertiveness training. In total, £4.7million has been handed out by the Big Lottery Fund to 26 pro-traveller causes since 2004.

The Tories seized on details of the funding as new evidence that Labour has been covertly pursuing a policy of expanding the number of traveller sites throughout the UK - often against the wishes of the local population.

The Mail revealed earlier this year that the rate at which new traveller and gipsy sites are being set up has doubled over the past two years.
Graphic

Tory local government spokesman Bob Neill said: ‘This is just another sign of how the Labour Government snubs hard-working families who play by the rules and pay their taxes.’

‘By contrast, many travellers are being given special treatment. Town halls are being bullied into using compulsory purchase powers to seize land. Vital planning rules, like Green Belt protection, are being ripped up.

‘The British people have an inherent sense of fair play, and this different treatment isn’t right or fair.’

Parliamentary answers provided by culture minister Barbara Follett show that even apparently legitimate projects to help traveller children, such as a Hertfordshire play bus, meant public money was spent on ‘unauthorised sites’.

It was also revealed a Gipsy and Traveller Support Project in East Sussex received taxpayers’ money to help ensure ‘they are fully represented in community action planning processes’.

The Ormiston Children and Families Trust Advocacy service got funding to help gipsy communities ‘understand, access and benefit from the services to which they are entitled’, including advocacy on planning applications and appeals.

The growing pace of approvals of sites follows instructions sent out by John Prescott in 2006 that force councils into using compulsory purchase powers to meet new regional targets for traveller camps.

In March it emerged that thousands of protesters against one new site in Bedfordshire were ignored by council officials on the grounds that they were ‘racist’.

A spokesman said: ‘The Big Lottery Fund does not exclude any minority groups from applying for funding.

‘From June 2004 to February 2009, Big has made awards totalling £4.76million to initiatives that have benefited gipsies and travellers. This is equivalent to 0.2 per cent of the fund’s good cause funding.

‘Recent research has shown that only an estimated 20 per cent of 11 to 16-year-olds from the gipsy and traveller population attend secondary school and 68 per cent had experienced racism or prejudice because they were a traveller.’

NJ Governor Corzine is a fool

Late June, the story that got no press whatsoever:

Friday, June 26, 2009
One-Gun-A-Month Heads to Governor’s Desk

In the wee hours of Friday morning, June 26, Governor Corzine and his anti-gun cohorts in the New Jersey State Senate vote 21 to 15 to pass S1774, a bill that will arbitrarily ration the sale of handguns to one per month.

Earlier this year, S1774 was pulled from the Senate floor when the sponsor was unable to garner the necessary 21 votes for passage.  This time, taking orders from Governor Corzine, Senator Fred Madden who previously voted “no” and committed to hold firm in that position, switched his vote at the last minute and voted “yes” to ration the Constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to obtain firearms.

As passed, this bill will prohibit an individual from purchasing more than one handgun within a 30-day period.  The bill now moves to Governor Corzine’s desk for his consideration.

The only “good” news is that not a single Republican voted for this ladel full of diarrhea. But the Dems have them outnumbered here, by far. So time goes by, the few that knew about the vote have a chance to cool off, maybe even to move out of this idiot state ... and this past Friday ...

NJ Gov. Corzine signs law limiting handgun purchases to One A Month

New Jersey will become the fourth state in the nation to limit handgun purchases to one every month. Gov. Corzine signed the controversial measure into law yesterday.

Trenton Mayor Doug Palmer joined Corzine and called on Pennsylvania to become No. 5. The law, which is aimed at slowing gun trafficking, would make life safer in New Jersey and neighboring states by fighting trafficking, he said.

“I just hope Pennsylvanians would make it safer for us by passing this bill,” Palmer said at a ceremony outside Trenton City Hall.

The law aims to impede “straw purchasers” - people who have clean records and buy guns legally, then pass them to criminals. The law will take effect in early January but could see some changes before then. A task force is reviewing its potential impact and will make recommendations this fall.

They could call me, or any other citizen actually in touch with Planet Earth. It ain’t gonna make a tinkly-wink of difference. Nada thing. And they’ll go right back to blaming everything on Pennsylvania, and putting the squeeze on from our side of the Delaware River. Let’s hope PA is still part of America, and stops listening. Well, the ghetto turd government in Philly loves the idea, and will probably pass it as a new law all on their own again, like they do with every idiotic gun law they come across every year anyway, causing the PA State Supreme Court to tell them to take a flying fuck at the moon, AGAIN. They don’t quit with the shit. Ever.

There may be a bit of a loophole. “Collectors” are exempt, and an amendment may be written to exempt “competitive shooters”. Guess I’ll have to become both. Then I’ll have to get enough income together to even afford more than one a month. Hell, one a YEAR is more than I can actually afford. Good thing I already have a bunch.

At least the newspaper had the decency to print one dissenting opinon, and it’s a good one:

Critics say the law would impinge on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens in New Jersey, which already has some of the most strict gun laws in the nation.

“Trying to reduce gun crime by rationing guns to law-abiding citizens is as absurd as trying to reduce drunk driving by rationing cars to non-drinkers”, Scott Bach, president of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, wrote in an e-mail.

Efforts to enact a similar law in Pennsylvania have failed, and Philadelphia saw its one-handgun-a-month ordinance struck down in court.

New Jersey sucks. Jon “seatbelts” Corzine is an elistist left wing idiot. The average clod citizen in NJ is a drooling moron.

Tomorrow night we’re going over to listen to listen to Steve Lonegan rail about Cap & Trade. Not that it will make a difference. Our country will get strapped with that bullshit too. But it will be nice to listen to a politician speak for more than 10 minutes without having the urge to throttle him.

‘Evil destruction’ of a happy family.  Read this and watch as a blood red curtain descends

Has the fuhrer state finally come to Britain?  Should we be shouting Seig Heil now?

OK, so maybe I might be a tad over the top but wait.

See if you can read this story without becoming totally pissed off big time in sympathy with this mom and dad.
I could hardly believe what I was reading.  And why should this bother me so much?
I think the answer might be my sense of fair play and justice and utter hatred of the kind of ppl I call, Hitler’s Little Helpers!
Freeken butt-wipes.

It just festers and bother the hell outta me and similar happens here on a regular basis.
It’s beyond me how this sort of thing can happen and take so long to resolve and in fact this case is not finished yet.
Fuckin’ commie/nazi fruitcake bastards.

Time for my blood pressure meds.

‘Evil destruction’ of a happy family
A system involving social workers, police and courts took a child away from loving parents for no apparent reason

By Christopher Booker
Jul 2009
Two weeks ago I reported as shocking a story as this column has ever covered. It described how a loving family was torn apart when the parents were arrested by police on what turned out to be wholly spurious charges, so that their three children could be taken into care by social workers. As reported on another page, it now seems this awful episode has come to a happy ending.

However a new case has lately been surfacing, if anything even more shocking. This also involved the arrest of two parents and the abduction of their child by social workers, in a story so bizarre that, at last week’s Prime Minister’s Questions, Gordon Brown was asked about it by the family’s MP, Charles Hendry, who has long been concerned with the case because the mother is a vice-chairman of his local Conservative Association. The family’s horrified GP says that, in 43 years of medical practice, he has never “encountered a case of such appalling injustice”.

I first planned to describe this case in April, but was pre-empted by the draconian reporting restrictions on family cases, which, for reasons which will become tragically clear, have now been partly lifted.
The story began in April 2007 when “Mr Smith”, as I must call him, had a visit from the RSPCA over the dog-breeding business he ran from the family home. He had docked the tails of five new-born puppies – a procedure that had become illegal two days beforehand. Unaware of this, he promised in future to obey the new law.

Three days later, however, at nine o’clock in the morning, two RSPCA officials returned, accompanied in cars and riot vans by 18 policemen, who had apparently been tipped off, quite wrongly, that Mr Smith had guns in the house.

Armed with pepper spray, they ransacked the house, looking for the nonexistent guns. The dogs, released from their kennels, also rampaged through the house. When Mr Smith and his wife, who was three months pregnant, volubly protested at what was happening, they were forcibly arrested in front of their screaming five-year-old daughter “Jenny” and taken away. Two hours later, with the house in a shambles – the dogs having strewn the rabbit entrails meant for their dinner across the floor – social workers arrived to remove the crying child.

Held for hours in a police cell, Mrs Smith had a miscarriage. When she was finally set free, she returned home that evening to find her daughter gone. It was the beginning of a barely comprehensible nightmare.
Her husband was charged with various offenses connected with the dogs, including the tail-docking, but was eventually given a conditional discharge by a judge who accepted that he was “an animal lover” who had not been cruel to his dogs.

Far more serious, however, was that the social workers seemed determined to hang onto the child, now in foster care, on the sole grounds that they had found the house dirty and in a mess (the “animal entrails” played a large part in their evidence). This was despite the testimony of a woman Pc (who had visited the house a month earlier on a different matter) that she found it “clean and tidy”. Two hundred horrified neighbours, who knew the couple as doting parents of a happy, well-cared-for child, were about to stage a protest demonstration when they were stopped by the police, on the social workers’ instructions that this might identify the child.

For more than two years the couple have been fighting through more than 100 hearings in the courts to win their daughter back. From a mass of evidence, including psychiatric reports and tape recordings made at meetings with her parents (only allowed in the presence of social workers), it is clear she has been desperate to return home. It is equally clear that considerable pressure has been brought on the child to turn her against her parents.
One particularly bizarre psychiatric report was compiled after only an hour-long interview with the little girl. When she said she had once choked on a lollipop, this was interpreted as signifying that she could possibly have “been forced to have oral sex with her father”.

After Mrs Smith alone had been subjected to four different psychiatric investigations, which came up with mixed findings, she refused to submit to a fifth, and this apparently weighed heavily with the judge who last December ordered that “Jenny" should be put out to adoption.

In the Appeal Court 11 days ago, Mr Justice Bodey ruled that, because the mother had refused that fifth test, indicating that the parents put their own “emotional wellbeing” in front of that of their child, the adoption order must stand. When this judgment was reported, an independent social worker, who had earlier been an expert witness in the case, wrote to Mr and Mrs Smith to say he was “horrified” to learn that Jenny was “not back in their care”, having assumed for over a year that “she must have been returned home”.

Their equally horrified GP, saying that he had never “encountered such a case of appalling injustice”, wrote “the destruction of this once happy family is in my opinion evil”. So shocked was their MP, Mr Hendry ,that he last Wednesday took the highly unusual course of raising the case with the Prime Minister at question time. Numerous others who know the family well have expressed similar dismay. One neighbour, herself a former social worker, whose own daughter often played with “Jenny”, said: “I worked with children in social services for 25 years and I have never seen anything like this. It is disgusting.”

What is clear in this case, as in so many others, is that a system involving social workers, police and courts in what is an obviously very close alliance should yet again have left a happy, loving family destroyed for no very obvious reason. Almost equally alarming is the way that system manages to shield itself from the world, through reporting restrictions which it claims are designed to protect the children but which too often end up by protecting only the system itself.

Cat out of bag, running

In His Own Words.

But will anyone listen?

Gore: U.S. Climate Bill Will Help Bring About ‘Global Governance’

Could we make that any plainer for you? The whole global warming thing is an effort to bring about One World government. No more nations, no more borders. A small generational elite at the top, and billions of the rest of us as serfs and slaves underneath. “Spread the Wealth” = Cap & Trade = universal poverty. And you ... will be a peon.

Former Vice President Al Gore declared that the Congressional climate bill will help bring about “global governance.”

“I bring you good news from the U.S., “Gore said on July 7, 2009 in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by UK Times.

“Just two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill,” Gore said, noting it was “very much a step in the right direction.” President Obama has pushed for the passage of the bill in the Senate and attended a G8 summit this week where he agreed to attempt to keep the Earth’s temperatures from rising more than 2 degrees C.

Gore touted the Congressional climate bill, claiming it “will dramatically increase the prospects for success” in combating what he sees as the “crisis” of man-made global warming.

“But it is the awareness itself that will drive the change and one of the ways it will drive the change is through global governance and global agreements.” (Editor’s Note: Gore makes the “global governance” comment at the 1min. 10 sec. mark in this UK Times video.)

Gore’s call for “global governance” echoes former French President Jacques Chirac’s call in 2000.

On November 20, 2000, then French President Chirac said during a speech at The Hague that the UN’s Kyoto Protocol represented “the first component of an authentic global governance.”

“For the first time, humanity is instituting a genuine instrument of global governance,” Chirac explained. “From the very earliest age, we should make environmental awareness a major theme of education and a major theme of political debate, until respect for the environment comes to be as fundamental as safeguarding our rights and freedoms. By acting together, by building this unprecedented instrument, the first component of an authentic global governance, we are working for dialogue and peace,” Chirac added.

Former EU Environment Minister Margot Wallstrom said, “Kyoto is about the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide.” Canadian Prime Minster Stephen Harper once dismissed UN’s Kyoto Protocol as a “socialist scheme.”

Go read the rest, and follow some of the links there:

Canada is in on it. So is the Vatican.

POPE Benedict XVI has proposed a new world political authority “with real teeth”, possibly in place of the United Nations, to enforce an ethical financial order and end the global financial crisis. Calling for more aid, a bigger role for trade unions and an economic system aimed at the common good as well as profit, the Pope said only a moral market could end the crisis and solve world poverty. The proposals were in his long-awaited encyclical - the second-highest level of papal teaching - released in Rome yesterday morning Australian time, before the G8 leaders gathered in Italy today to discuss the global crisis.

The European Union exists. The North American Union is on it’s way. The We Are The World” movement has been going on for at least a decade ... and this is not just a leftist agenda. You noticed how Bush secured the borders and threw out all the illegals, right? Part and parcel. Your children are taught to be mindless “all cultures are equal” Socialists by the school system. Part and parcel. Generations have grown up utterly dependent on Big Government for their every need and want, and all they do is clamor for more. Part and parcel. And the internet is making the process even faster; “we’re all connected”.

Now think it through ... Man Made Global Warming is a hoax, but to “solve” it, to make the Cap & Trade thing work, we need One World Government. So let’s do that as fast as possible. And when people wake up to the chill reality, it will be too late. You think Bernie Madoff pulled the biggest con of all time? He’s a piker, a mere debutant.

PS - nobody in the media will pay any attention to this. None. Nothing to see or hear here, move along.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYGrn0hZlCQ

http://www.infowars.net/articles/october2007/101007Fox.htm

Tinfoil hat conspiracy theory? I kind of doubt it. Bush did his level best to ruin the US dollar and to let in as many illegals as possible. Then he started the Big Socialist Ball rolling. Obama has been doing his best to accelerate it, while socializing the economy and continuing the destruction of our currency.

Will the human race eventually be all one nation? Probably. But I’m not ready for that to happen yet. Not only do I value my own nation, I have yet to see another country worth hooking up with. Until then, sod off.

Cap & Trade is now more worthlesser

And it’s even more worthless when it’s just us dumbass whiteboy countries doing all the scrimping and saving. No shit Sherlock, China, India, and the whole damn Turd World ain’t gonna play. And let’s face it ... it would require a united one-world government to enforce, with tens of millions of enforcers constantly on the prowl ready for Rapid Response™. It simply can’t be done, even if it’s a good idea ... and it’s not.

Thank God some of those cockweasels in government are finally figuring out what us regular folks have known for ages already.

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) presented the chart to both Jackson and Secretary Chu, which shows that meaningful emissions reductions cannot occur without aggressive action by China, India, and other developing countries. “I am encouraged that Administrator Jackson agrees that unilateral action by the U.S. will be all cost for no climate gain,” Sen. Inhofe said. “With China and India recently issuing statements of defiant opposition to mandatory emissions controls, acting alone through the job-killing Waxman-Markey bill would impose severe economic burdens on American consumers, businesses, and families, all without any impact on climate.”

So will this be enough to kill this hairbrained idiocy? I hope so. Then we can all go out and celebrate by ... beating up a hippie or two and having a big ol’ barbecue.

image
This is the digital chart the US government published. It is almost unreadable due to crappy quality

But we still have knot-headed Truthers Warmers out there ... who just can’t figure things out. So I’ll tell them again:

Even if the entire USA shut down everything right this second, and we all held our breath forever ... as long as the whole rest of the world continues to burn things and to breathe, there’s going to be more CO2 put into the atmosphere. Not to mention what we get from the random volcano going boom and stuff like that. Cutting our emissions to ZERO only slows the growth. It does not stop it or reverse it. And the whole Carbon Credits thing is just a shell game. Paying somebody else for your “right” to pollute is nonsense, just as it’s nonsense to sanctimoniously offshore all your production so you can claim eco-holiness. That other country is now burning shit to make your stuff instead of you. Just as much, probably more, given their lower technology level. Cap & Trade: It. Just. Does. Not. Work.

Here’s the link. Michelle Malkin has it too.

Toldja, toldja, toldja, toldja. I want to hammer nails into my Clue Bat .... because, Meanwhile, At the G8:

President Obama and other leaders backed historic new targets for tackling global warming last night in an agreement designed to pave the way for a world deal in the autumn.

For the first time, America and the other seven richest economies agreed to the goal of keeping the world’s average temperature from rising more than 2C (3.6F).

They also agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 as they strove for a worldwide deal at Copenhagen in December.

The moves were designed to put the squeeze on the world’s developing nations, most of whose leaders will join the G8 for a debate chaired by President Obama today.

The agreement marks a significant step in efforts to limit greenhouse gases, which are blamed for the world’s rising temperature. [Drew: temps are actually falling. See yesterday’s post. But why should this bunch ever do a Reality Check?] The G8 previously had not been able to agree on that temperature limit as a political goal.

See? Knot heads. As if these few think they have the power to cool the world. Who are they, King Canute*?

(* = yes, this is where you remember the Obama campaign spiel about this being the moment the oceans started to fall. He really is that arrogant!)

HEY .. YOU FIND SOMETHIN’ DUMBER THEN THIS, LET US KNOW. COZ THIS REALLY IS DUH.

Doesn’t matter what I think but the fact is, I am not surprised.  I’ve seen a ton of things as dumb and one or two even dumber the first year I was here.
EVERYTHING is RIGHTS!RIGHTS! and more of the same. So this falls into line with the PC, warm and fuzzy thinking here.  Not by all of course. Some are trying to fight the stupidity.

At the moment though it looks like a losing war.

DOES IT GET MUCH DUMBER THEN THIS?

Prisoners on run cannot be named ‘due to privacy rights’
Prisoners on the run from Holleseley Bay prison cannot be identified because it would breach their rights to privacy, the Ministry of Justice has said.

By Tom Whitehead, Home Affairs Editor
Published: 2:52PM BST 03 Jul 2009

Civil servants have refused to name inmates who have fled prison even though individual police forces will often identify them if they pose a risk to the public.

They say releasing their names would breach obligations under the Data Protection Act.

It echoes a row in 2007 when Derbyshire Police refused to release pictures of two escaped murderers.

The latest development emerged in response to Freedom Of Information requests to name inmates on the run rom the prison near Woodbridge, Suffolk.

The open prison which has sea views and once held Tory peer Jeffrey Archer is known as Holiday Bay because of its easy-going regime.

The Ministry of Justice confirmed 39 prisoners had absconded from Hollesley Bay between January 1, 2007, to March 31, 2009.

It also provided a general list of crimes they were sentenced for and confirmed that 16 involved violence.

The offenders included nine robbers, two serving sentences for attempted robbery, one for wounding and four others for grievous bodily harm.

But the ministry refused to say how many - if any - had been recaptured, saying their identities had to be protected from third parties.

John Gummer, the Suffolk Coastal MP, said he was aghast at the decision and promised to raise the matter in parliament with Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary.

He said: “It’s intolerable and entirely unacceptable. There is no sense in which a prisoner’s identity is a private matter. In my view he sacrifices that when he becomes a prisoner.

“This annoys me very much indeed. We have gone mad if this is what we are doing.

“What I will be doing is putting down a question to the Justice Minister on Monday to ask for the information. I shall insist this is information that should be in the public domain.

“I think this will prove Hollesley Bay has ceased to be treated as an open prison in the historic way, but is now receiving prisoners who would not have been sent to it 10 years ago.”

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “Whilst it is in the public interest to be aware of offenders who have escaped from custody as they may help in identifying the absconders thereby enabling the police to detain them; it is not in the public interest to prejudice any enquiries or operations the police may be conducting into apprehending the absconder.

“It is the general policy of the Ministry of Justice not to disclose, to a third party, personal information about another person.

“This is because the Ministry of Justice has obligations under the Data Protection Act and in law generally to protect this information.”

In January 2007 Derbyshire Police refused to release pictures of two convicted murderers on the run from jail. Chief Constable David Coleman said Jason Croft and Michael Nixon posed “no risk’’ and the force had to consider the Human Rights Act and data protection laws when asked to publish photographs. The force later denied human rights had been a factor.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? YEAH. I CAN.

Cuba condemns Honduras coup as “criminal, brutal”
Sun Jun 28, 2009 6:48pm EDT

HAVANA (Reuters) - Cuba on Sunday condemned the military coup in Honduras as “criminal, brutal” and demanded the immediate return to office of deposed leftist President Manuel Zelaya.
The Honduran army ousted Zelaya and exiled him on Sunday in Central America’s first military coup since the Cold War, after he upset the military by proposing an extension of his four-year term in office.

“I denounce the criminal, brutal character of this coup,” Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez told a news conference in Havana.

Zelaya is viewed by Cuba’s communist leadership as a leftist ally and former Cuban leader Fidel Castro had expressed backing for his efforts to hold an unofficial public vote on Sunday to gauge support for his plan to hold a November referendum on allowing presidential re-election.

“This coup has removed a legitimate and constitutional government simply for wanting to carry out a consultation ... in Honduras there is only one constitutional government, one constitutional president who should return immediately without conditions to the palace,” Rodriguez said.

The Cuban foreign minister also denounced what he called the violent treatment by Honduran troops of several foreign ambassadors in Tegucigalpa, specifically those of Cuba and Venezuela.

Earlier, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Honduran soldiers took away the Cuban ambassador and left the Venezuelan ambassador on the side of a road after beating him during the coup. The Cuban ambassador was later released.

Rodriguez said the Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan ambassadors in Tegucigalpa had been seeking to give diplomatic shelter to Zelaya’s Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas when a band of Honduran soldiers, their faces hooded, had tried to take her away. He said he was extremely concerned for her safety.

Chavez on Sunday put troops on alert over the coup in Honduras and said he would respond militarily if his envoy to the Central American country was kidnapped or killed.

Rodriguez said there were 84 people, including diplomats, women and children, at the Cuban embassy in Tegucigalpa and said Cuba was “ready to defend the integrity of our embassy”.

I’m sorry but Cuba has and the Castro’s have lost the ability to judge anything as criminal and Brutal.. everything points that while military rule may be bad, considering the currently ousted Honduran President was aligned with Chavez and Castro, anything is better then him staying in power.....

Doctors told to give priority to gypsies because these ppl are now designated as, a race.

Just as the wife was getting over her cold I caught it from her.  Not very nice past 24 hours and now, it looks like she’s getting it back. What a sight we make if anyone could see and hear us.  Coughing and sneezing and wheezing and honking and going thru Klennex in copious amounts.  And I don’t think I’m up to much posting today.  Can’t seem to get warm or else go from too warm to too cold.  Bah.  Colds are a pain from head to wherever. Pick a place. We probably have some discomfort there.  sneeze-cough.

I was greeted by this article first thing today and have broken a rule of not posting the same story at two places.  But the nature of this total outrage just BEGS to be posted.  Some of you have your own blog sites I know, and I hope you will pass this stupidity on.

So then, based on race you can qualify for things that native born Brits who are taxed can not qualify for.  Like extra time with your doctor and waits at the office.

Speaking of waits.  My wife who is a native born Brit is losing the hearing in one ear and the other ain’t so good either. She has an appointment at the hosp. clinic and the wait is ten weeks.

Just where does this stupidity end and when will it end?  My guess is never to the last and things are always open on the first. The idiots that control things can ALWAYS find something.

This is another one of those articles I had to make myself post. I have run across many stupid things and have posted them but this surely must take a prize of some kind.  Damn it all this is a lifestyle.  If I decided it had appeal and wanted to join a group of these folks, would my race designation change?

Gypsies and travellers should be given priority in NHS hospitals and GP surgeries, according to Government guidance.

By Ben Leach
Published: 9:44AM BST 18 Jun 2009

They should be given longer consultations, and should be seen by GPs when they walk in without an appointment, even if doctors are fully-booked.

The average length of a consultation is five or ten minutes but travellers will be given 20 minutes and allowed to bring relatives into the consulting rooms.

The guidelines have been introduced because, under race laws, gypsies and travellers are defined as minority ethnic groups and the NHS is obliged to consider their special needs and circumstances.

Yet no special treatment is promised for other groups such as those from the Asian sub-continent or Africa, the Daily Mail reported.

The guidance forms part of the Primary Care Service Framework, drawn up by the NHS Primary Care Commissioning - an advisory service for local health trusts - to help all PCTs understand the Department of Health’s policy.

It will go on trial for between three and five years, Although PCTs do not necessarily have to follow the guidelines, they could be breaking human rights law and the Race Relations Act of 2000 if they do not.

Tory health spokesman Andrew Lansley said: “No one should get priority treatment in the NHS apart from our Armed Forces, to whom we owe a special debt of gratitude.

“Decisions about who should be treated first should be based on a patient’s medical needs, not their ethnic group.”

A spokesman for the Department of Health said: “We are aware that gypsies and travellers have experienced tremendous difficulties in accessing primary care.

“Partly as a result, community members experience the worst health inequalities of any disadvantaged group.

“The framework suggests fast-tracking for two reasons. First, as a matter of urgency, inroads need to be made into the health problems of gypsies and travellers.

“Second, if mobile community members are not seen quickly, the opportunity could be lost as they move on or are moved on. This should not be to the detriment of service provision to the settled community.”

Settled community my achin’ ass.

PART TWO OF …. Exploiting the Human Rights Act to defy the law.  THE OTHER SIDE, THE LAW ABIDING.

Right. The folks who count for s!#t!  The law abiding home owner. The everyday person.
You know the one. The people with rights, but less then other people.

I don’t generally look at the wkend Telegraph property section.  That cos the wife never misses it and when she finds something she thinks I’d be interested in, she brings it to my attention.

Well, I just posted an article from The Mail on the land stealing, unlawful vermin who have somehow achieved “racial” status called, travellers.  These folks are above the law and above criticism.
So ... this is what appeared in another paper, the property section called Ask The Expert, in the Telegraph.
Another eye opener.

Our property experts answer your questions on all aspects of buying, selling and owning a home.

POINTS OF LAW

I live in a house on 18 acres and have two holiday cottages. I’d like to build a third, because of demand, but this is a rural area so planning was refused, as was our appeal.

Adjoining my land is a long-standing, unauthorised but tolerated, travellers’ camp. Recently the council’s gipsy liaison officer was granted planning permission for 12 log cabins. Could I argue my human rights are being infringed on the basis that I am not a traveller?

David Fleming writes:

Your question takes us to the dangerous area where law meets politics so I must tread carefully.

Local authorities are under a duty to provide for travellers so special rules apply to such sites.

But even if planning permission should not have been granted for the cabins, that would not help you – for the same reason that you can’t complain when the police stop you for speeding, even though other motorists, who could equally have been stopped, pass by.

The courts have held that the Human Rights Act has little application in planning law. All the rights granted, including free use of one’s property, are subject to “public interest” exceptions; it is the role of the planning system to strike a balance between an individual’s right to do what he likes with his property and the public interest in the control of development.

Note: David Fleming has practised law for 27 years and is head of property litigation.

POINTS OF LAW

Now I ask you BMEWS. Is this placed screwed up totally er what?

Phew, Princeton University Narrowly Escapes Disaster

Toddlers With Toy Guns Now In Custody

Campus Lockdown Called Off

Four juveniles are in custody after one was spotted with what appeared to be a gun — but turned out to be a toy — on the Princeton University campus, police said.

Princeton Borough authorities are questioning the children after the confusion that caused a lockdown at the Ivy League school was cleared up.

“The suspected handgun was determined to be a plastic handgun that was dark in color,” the university said in a press release about the incident.

The New Jersey school’s Web site and alert system advised people around 11 a.m. EDT to stay inside following a report of a male with what appeared to be a handgun near Dod Hall dormitory.

An all-clear was issued around 11:25 a.m. EDT, and Princeton’s Public Safety Department said there was no gunman despite the earlier reports.

Police continue to investigate.

It was not clear how many students remained on campus because graduation took place on Tuesday.

It is always best to PANIC FIRST and then stop to think and use a half grain of common sense. Geex. Get a grip already.

ACORN Brownshirts Strike In NY

Democracy In Action: ACORN thugs beat up New York Senate

Like the voter intimidating New Black Panthers, expect no charges to be filed, or to ever make it to court. You shall not challenge the Minions of Teh One!

image

The ongoing Senate circus in Albany is pure farce at its most absurd, but at one point this week, things turned downright ugly.

On Thursday, some 150 protestors—many of them from the thuggish far-left group ACORN—turned up outside the Senate chamber and actually assaulted members of the Republican faction.

The demonstrators nearly knocked to the floor Sen. James Alesi (of upstate Monroe County); they also spat in the face of his chief of staff, according to published reports.

Not only was this violence uncalled for, the ACORN crowd shouldn’t even have been there in the first place: The Senate lobby is a restricted area, and public protests are explicitly prohibited.

Sen. George Winner (R-Elmira) accused Senate Secretary Angelo Aponte—the Malcolm Smith ally who earlier had locked the entire Senate out of the chambers—of having “clearly sanctioned” the riot.

Violence from ACORN hardly surprises: It has a history, dating to the ‘80s, of engaging in trespassing, illegal seizure of private property, physical harassment, intimidation and outright extortion.

Those tactics, along with its notorious, fraud-tainted “voter registration” efforts, have been bolstered not only with millions in union cash, but also with $53 million in direct federal aid since 1994.

Personally, I think ACORN members ought to be arrested on sight. They have more than proved themselves to be members of some kind of subversive group, and now they are adding violence to their repertoire.

This One Really Takes Balls

Your dog’s, specifically

New Jersey bill will extend welfare benefits to include the cost of neutering pets

Low-cost pet sterilization would be available to a wider range of dog and cat owners under a bill an Assembly committee approved yesterday.

To qualify for the subsidized operations, owners would have to show proof of benefits from state or federal public-assistance programs. Animals eligible for the spay or neuter surgery—which renders them unable to breed—would have to come from a shelter, pound or nonprofit rescue group.

What about those poor folks who have purebreed pets? Why aren’t they covered? Sounds like discrimination to me!!

The operation can cost from 60 to several hundred dollars, depending on the type and gender of the animal. The extent of presurgery testing and care after the surgery also plays a role in the cost.

For each subsidized procedure, the owner pays $20 to the state’s Animal Population Control Fund. Veterinarians’ charges would be reimbursed by the state.

The bill, approved by the Assembly Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, must go before both houses of the Legislature and be signed by the governor before it becomes law.

The discount would apply to participants in the following: the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; the Women, Infants and Children food program; Senior Gold prescription drug plan; and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. New Jersey residents would still be eligible for the low-cost program, including inhabitants of subsidized housing and recipients of Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid.

In other words, anybody on Food Stamps, Welfare, WIC, living in public housing, etc. Funny, I wouldn’t have thought that poor folks could even afford to have a dog.

Yes, right now it’s just a bill. But this is New Jersey. It will pass. Oh, it will pass.
