Every Year Along About This Time It All Goes Dry

Two weeks after the biggest bust in Mexican history ..

25-30 tons of pot snagged in San Diego

600 yard high quality tunnel found under warehouse

The border patrol has uncovered a well-built 1,800-foot-long drug-smuggling tunnel connecting San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. In overnight raids, U.S. agents seized more than 20 tons of marijuana in a California warehouse, while Mexican troops confiscated five tons at their end.

The passageway was lighted, ventilated and had a rail system, the Los Angeles Timesreports. It began in a warehouse in Tijuana and ended in Otay Mesa, California, a light-industrial area outside San Diego where other tunnels have been uncovered.

During the past four years around 75 tunnels in various stages of construction have been found along the border.

In Mexico, army troops raided a warehouse in an industrial area that concealed the tunnel entrance and seized four more tons of dope.

The back-to-back raids occurred Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in a light industrial area with a long history of tunnel activity.

The passageway, equipped with lighting, ventilation and a rail system, is one of the few unearthed in recent years that appears to have been fully operational.

About 75 tunnels along the U.S-Mexico border have been unearthed in the last four years, most of them in various states of construction. The discovery comes two weeks after the Mexican military in Tijuana seized a record 134 tons of marijuana.

About 26 tons of marijuana had been transported through the tunnel to San Diego, and 10 of those tons were intercepted Tuesday by authorities as a tractor trailer was transporting the load from the Otay Mesa warehouse, officials said. About five tons were found by the Mexican military inside the Tijuana warehouse and the tunnel, officials said.

“It’s not a good day for the cartels,” said ICE director John Morton. “They now can’t move that size of drugs without digging a tunnel for 600 yards. It backfired on them.

Video here at Fox News.

Let’s see ... 30 tons here, 134 tons last time; that’s 164 tons. That’s 328,000 pounds, which is about 5.25 million ounces; 42 million eighth ounce baggies worth. Sounds like at least 2 weeks supply for the entire US. Ouch! Tokers gonna be hard up for a hit!

Henry got to Mexico and turned his truck around
He’s talking to the man who’s has it growing in the ground
Henry tasted, he got wasted, couldn’t even see
How he’s gonna drive like that is not too clear to me

And now he’s rolling down the mountain
Going fast, fast, fast
And if he blows this one’s gonna be his last
Run to Acapulco to turn the golden keys
Henry keep your brakes on for this corner if your please

The Brits are losing their country and culture one EU court decision at a time.

This wasn’t available when I posted the story yesterday. Since then, I have discovered that some American states do in fact allow for prisoner voting. So I guess the UK isn’t unique. Unless you ask what took em so long?

This killer became a jailhouse lawyer and this is the result.

Here’s what you need to know about the scum ....

Hirst killed his landlady, Bronia Burton, 69, hitting her seven times in the head with an axe when she asked him to go outside and fetch coal for the fire.

He denied murder, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

And just so ya know, he’s a free man today. Diminished responsibility my sore butt.  He stole her future right to vote btw. Wonder if that might figure into the mix. Nah ... not when do good lefty libtards make the rules.

A couple of comments from the Daily Mail Mail.

Why! Why! Why do we keep allowing foreigners to tell us how to run our country.
We fought two world wars and lost millions of lives in order that we should be allowed to govern ourselves and create our own laws. We have finally succumbed.

more law and disorder and no justice but the left is no doubt happy ….

I don’t mean to offend any of our Brit friends and readers but I’m not saying anything that Brits themselves are not saying.  The Criminal Justice System here is shit!  It is screwed up beyond all belief and when you see these two stories ..... I believe you’ll agree.
I also think the first story below will sicken you.  It did me. In light of this first story ... the second makes hardly any sense at all.  And it shouldn’t considering the state of the criminal protective system in place here.

What justice? Thug who kicked terminally-ill man in attack walks free from court

A drunken thug who attacked a terminally-ill grandfather and kicked his head ‘like a football’ has walked free from court.

Reece Kent, 19, repeatedly punched Ken Oliver in the head before kicking him on the floor after he mistakenly knocked on the 62-year-old’s door at 3.30am.

Cancer sufferer Mr Oliver - who has been given just three months to live - was left in a pool of blood on his doorstep with horrific injuries.

He spent a week in intensive care following the assault, with bleeding on his brain.

Kent admitted carrying out the unprovoked attack - which was filmed on a mobile phone by his friends - and pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm.

But Mr Oliver, a grandfather-of-three from Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, watched in disbelief as his attacker walked free from court last week with a six-month suspended sentence.

Today he said: ‘I would love to have seen him go away for a long, long time. I could quite easily have died. I was expecting him to go to jail. I am gutted.

‘Before I knew what was going on I was being punched and kicked. My head was used as a football and the whole attack was recorded on a mobile phone.

‘I am appalled at the sentence. They were swearing and laughing in my face. He should have been locked up for what he did.

‘His barrister said he feels remorse but when he turned up in court he just sneered at me. I hope he is ashamed for the rest of his life.’

wild and feral animals do not feel shame. they feel nothing but the need to indulge their desires of the moment

Unbelievably, Mr Oliver said that he and his family had been forced to track down Kent after Hertfordshire constabulary told him it was unlikely they would catch his attacker.

He said: ‘Police told me that it was most likely just a case of happy slapping because the other lads were filming the attack.

‘But when I told my neighbours that the lad had asked for Molly, they remembered that a girl of that name had lived a few doors down and had moved away.

‘My son did some detective work and tracked down the family then worked out who my attackers were from there.

‘After going to all that trouble, I was looking forward to seeing him in court and justice being done.

‘I was disgusted when he walked free. I’m still living with the injuries. It makes you wonder what you have to do to get put behind bars these days.’

A LOT MORE HERE. PLEASE SEE IT.

I read things like this and get so pissed off it’s a wonder I don’t have ulcers or worse.  First of course I feel deeply for the victims and the lack of any real justice. And then again and again I read or hear about these god awful gun happy violent Americans with their high crime rate who also kill so many death penalty criminals in Tx and Az, that they run out of the stuff that puts the bad guys away for good. Some of the idiots here on the left actually write that kind of crap. That we’re executing criminals right and left every day. Oh if only. And then I continue to see things like these stories.

neighbour’ who stabbed a man to death for urinating through his letterbox is jailed for five years

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 5:53 PM on 29th October 2010

A ‘good neighbour’ who stabbed a man he caught urinating through his letterbox on a yob-plagued estate was jailed for five years today after admitting manslaughter.

Michael Williams, 53, ‘just flipped’ after he caught father-of-one Anthony Kershaw, 25, high on drink and drugs, defiling his property.

The householder, who lived alone, had already suffered the same attack previously, and had paint thrown on his door, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Residents were too frightened to go out at night because of a gang of teenagers terrorising the sprawling Smallbridge council estate in Rochdale, it was said.

Williams, described by neighbours as ‘pleasant, friendly and keeps himself to himself’ heard a bang on the front door of his ground-floor flat, as if someone was kicking at it to break in.

He went to investigate, to see urine pouring through his letterbox, he told police.

Angry he went to his kitchen, grabbed a knife with a seven-inch blade and as Mr Kershaw urinated, swung open the door and in a ‘momentary intention’ stabbed his victim in the stomach.

He then closed the door and dialled 999 as friends of Mr Kershaw tried to attack Williams, smashing his windows and threatening to ‘burn him alive’ by torching the property.

Mr Kershaw died the next day in hospital from the knife wound to his stomach.

The court heard the estate in Rochdale had suffered years of anti-social behaviour from people drinking and taking drugs in communal areas and stairwells, and being ‘extremely abusive’ to residents.

Locals had ‘lost confidence’ in the authorities to do anything about the problem, the court heard, though Anti-Social Behaviour Orders had been handed out to some of the gang.

READ MORE HERE

Good for Mr. Williams.  I hope the bastard who pissed through his door suffered. I hope it wasn’t a quick death.  He deserved it and who can fault Williams for what he did?  I sure don’t.
But the punk who beat the hell out of that guy in the first story walks free .... Williams goes to jail as though there were no extenuating circumstances.
Punks who beat the crap out of an old man in yet a another story at the first link above, get anti social behavior orders. Oh woo-fuckin hoo. That really puts the fear of god in them as we all see.

But Americans are violent gun happy nutters.

Going Through The Motions

Voter Fraud! Be Afraid!!

Looks like we are going through our annual noise-fest about scruffy election controls. Poll workers stuffing ballot boxes!! Nevada ballots handed out with Harry Reid’s name already checked! Acorn! Feds strike down Arizona proof-of-citizenship voting law! Racism!! Diebold voting machines are rigged! Glen Beck forecasting riots and blood in the streets!!!!

There they go again. Sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Don’t get me wrong; I believe strongly that many of the election processes around the country “have their thumb on the scales” so to speak. And it is something that people should be aware of, and that needs significant citizen watchdogging. Groups like True The Vote down in Texas, and others, are doing a great job.

The problem is, aside from a few contested recounts, we won’t hear another word about this starting three days after Election Day. But I can guarantee you that when it comes time to vote next year, about a month out we’ll hear all the same crap once again. Voter fraud has become another one of the annual fear topics for the media to trot out seasonally. No different from the “experts predict this will be a terrible year for hurricanes” or the “we’re all going to die from flu this year, and the government/big pharma doesn’t have enough vaccine to go around” tales. Sound and fury. And nothing ever ever gets done.

Ok Tea Party people, I’ve got a job for you. A job that needs doing in every town, city, county, and state across the nation. A job that does not need to be done once, but needs to be done all the time. We are a fractured nation, broken along political lines. We need to close that fracture. We need to have not only a more honest government, we need people to have faith in that government. And that faith starts with people having faith in the election process. Ok, it also starts with people having faith that the candidates running for office are legally qualified to run, such things as showing public proof that they are citizens, natural born ones if necessary, or that the ones running for Mayor of Chicago have followed Chicago’s law and have actually lived day to day in Chicago for the past several years, but that’s not what I want to discuss here. I want to talk about cleaning up the voting process. I’ve done this before, so I’m equally guilty of the seasonal scare story too, but the only reason I’m here talking about it again is that no solutions seem to have been put in place.

If one of these ever-present polling companies were to take a large nationwide poll, perhaps half a million people chosen at random, and asked about their views on the voting process, I could probably guess within a few points what the results would be. You would find that 2/3 to 3/4 of the left to far left leaning folks do not believe that any monkey business is afoot. You would find that 2/3 to 7/8 of the center to right leaning folks believe that not only are the monkeys out there, but they are fed steroid laced bananas and that they all have turbochargers hooked up to their little monkey butts. You would also find that at least 80% of the leftish people say that any kind of effort to clamp down the election process is racist, while fewer than 30% of the rightish types feel that way. Heck, if you asked that question the proper way, 90% or more of the right leaners would say that a rigid election process is patriotic.

Let me posit a solution. Yes, I lean to the right. You may have noticed this once or twice in the past. So much so that sometimes I wonder how I manage to stand up straight. So hold on to your seats, because I’m going to do something radical. I am calling for an increase in government. More government workers. Shocking, I know. But the only reason I am calling for this is that the voter registration process is often left to the lowly county clerk, who has about a billion other jobs to do. And a strict and structured registration process is going to require some staffing. No, you don’t have to pay these people $185,000 a year each. But it’s a $40,000 job for a number of them, and a $65,000 job for 2 or 3 managers. And everyone who gets one of these jobs takes it with the full knowledge that their job is on the line each and every day. Screw it up and you are history.

My solution is radical because it is simple. It does not take rocket science or a Master’s degree in engineering to do. All it takes is cooperation, and the honesty to put aside the willful blindness of PC. Let me get all “post racial” and “bipartisan” like our wonderful president: skin color does not preclude you from making a bit of effort to get yourself registered to vote. Period. No discussion necessary. Physical motile ability does not preclude you either. Nor does advanced age. Nor does sexual orientation ... come on, who gives a damn what you bump uglies with when it comes to voting?

My solution does call for cooperation among the branches of government. In our post-9/11 world, that wall that Jamie Gorelick built has to come down everywhere. Blanket statements from the Social Security folks that they are not going to cooperate is a no-go. It’s cause for instant dismissal. Period. Same goes for the military and the criminal justice people. Be part of the solution, or be gone.

So, where do we begin? First up would be proof of citizenship and proof of age. We do not have a de facto National ID card in the United States. And rightfully so. But we have the next best things. We have our Social Security card, our state issued driver’s license, the IRS, the military, and our credit cards. Everything runs on plastic these days. Every one of those knows our age and our current address. And our Social Security number, because 99.987% of all citizens over the age of 18 have one. Oh, but laws say you can’t use your SSN for purposes of identification!! Really? Then why does every single form you fill out anywhere for anything have a space for your SSN? Change the law, or at least put in a caveat for voter registration. And at least one of those groups has a picture of you. So the first step is fairly easy. To register to vote, you need to show up at the clerk’s office well in advance of Election Day - 90 days or more - and prove you are eligible. They have a limited function card reader, just like the one in the grocery store, but with a better screen. Enter your numbers or swipe your plastic, and the result that comes back has your name, your current address, and you SSN. Does that match what you’ve put on the registration form? Good, you’ve just passed Step One. The clerk presses another button, which sends your SSN to the criminal justice databases. And I say databases, because there are lots of them. Hey, I’ve been through the NJ pistol permit process, so I know. And the only data that gets returned to the clerk is a green light or a red light. Green light means proceed, red light means stop.

Should convicts or felons on probation have the right to vote? That’s a side issue, and one that should be solved by state or national referendum every so many years. Personally, I feel that if you have done your time, you are back in. Still doing time, still on probation, no vote for you ... if the crime you were convicted of was serious enough to disable your voting rights. And all the crimes that do take away that right need to be gone over and looked at again with an eye on “cruel and unusual” and “excessive fines and penalties”. But that’s another side issue on this side issue. However if you are convicted of such a crime, then you have to turn in your registration card.

Assuming you get a green light, the clerk takes your picture, and creates a voter registration card for you, with your photograph and its own unique number on it. And that card expires every 7 years, so you have to go through this again and again throughout your life. Too bad. Voting is a right, but it’s a right you have to make a bit of effort to use. Tough titties. But there is no cost, no charge, no fee for getting a registration card. And every county seat or town that does registrations puts the office right on the public transportation routes. Hospitals have a staffer or two on stipend to do the task remotely for long term care patients. And for shut-ins, old folks in nursing homes, etc., the county sends some people around, on appointment by request. So if you can’t come to the office, the office will come to you. But only for those who actually, really, honestly can’t. The lazy and uppity folks who can’t be bothered to go downtown to register and who just make an appointment are hit with a $2500 fine for wasting the government’s time. My plan makes everyone make some effort, so you’re going to get a slap down if you try to play the system.

Hold onto that registration card and keep it in a safe place. Bring it with you when you vote. Just like the “Got your Show Me?” billboards in the alternate universe in the Fringe TV show, public reminders are run several weeks before the elections. Show up to vote with your card AND some sort of current bill or government letter addressed to you as proof of current address. The poll worker checks your face against your card and swipes it. Got the green light? They match the retrieved address against the piece of mail you brought with you. If they match, then go ahead and vote. Got the red light? The clerk will enter your information manually. Still red? No vote for you. Period. It’s your duty to make sure your card works ahead of time, especially since there are only two reasons the red light would come on: false information or recent conviction of a crime that takes that right away. Oh, I forgot my card, I lost my card!!!  Fine. See that line over there? Get on it. And that clerk will enter your information manually, and she won’t work all that fast, but if you are legit, then the system will Ok you and you can vote. Oh no, I forgot to register. Can I do it now? Go to hell. Sod off. No, you can not register today, nor can you vote today. Not even provisionally.

People who have moved between one election and the next are responsible for getting their registration cards updated well in advance of Election Day. Those who have not updated their current address can go back to where they live and vote this one time ... and the clerk will then take and destroy (in front of witnesses) the registration card. Can’t I have an absentee ballot? No, because there are no more absentee ballots. They are a thing of the past. And to make sure that duplicate IDs are not issued, any new ID card issued shuts off any existing cards under that SSN and name.

What??? Whaddya mean, no more absentee ballots????  Just what I said. They are a thing of the past for those able to make the effort. Yes, for the hospitalized, the disabled and so forth they still exist. But those people are already on a list that lets them use this method. For everyone else, you have to make the effort to exercise your right, and get your lazy ass to the polling station. But we’ll make it easier, and from now on Election Day will be Vote Counting Day. That means the polls are actually open from 8am to 10pm every day of the week for 3 weeks beforehand. Hire a couple of people as temps at a tax free $10/hour to man the voting booth, with the caveat that if they let an improper voter vote then they go to jail for 6 months. Train them and test them, and give them support ( a cop and the town clerk ) if they have to turn anyone down. And woe be unto the person who attempts to vote, gets turned down, raises a fuss, has the support people called in, and is found ineligible to vote. 10 days in jail and a $1000 fine.

Um, I’m dead. Does my vote still count? Um, no. The coroners have to send in the data on the newly dead every single day, once positive and unassailable identification has been made. And fined if they screw up or forget. And the county clerks will process that data every day, deactivating the registration cards of the deceased. Show up to vote while “dead” and you can’t vote ... because the onus is on you to make sure your registration is in order ahead of time. No excuses, not even death.

If you have gained or lost massive amounts of weight, suffered from some horrible accident or illness that has radically changed your appearance, or undergone elective plastic surgery to the extent that the new you doesn’t look a thing like the old you ... then the onus is on you to get your registration card updated with a new photograph. And do it well ahead of time, and don’t forget to bring several forms of ID and proof of current address with you. Those folks just released from the hospital can go back there to do their voting if their release date falls between the registration cut-off date and the polls opening date. Once the hospital’s stipended polling worker verifies that you were a recent patient they will take your vote, as long as you get that good old green light.

And that’s about all there is to it. The military would set up it’s own system, the troops would vote ahead of time, and those votes would be sent in early. Early enough so that any bumps or glitches could be hammered out before Vote Counting Day. Ex-pats living abroad would have to show up at the embassy and vote there. Same process, same visual and electronic verification, same penalties for abusing the system, and the same vote ahead of time schedule that the military uses.

I think I’ve covered all the bases. Voting is a right that we should cherish, but the exercise of that right should not be whimsical. Put some steel in the backbone of the system and sharpen its edges to guard against abuse. Putting a system like I have outlined into place will cost something, but it won’t cost billions and zillions. But it will stop the dead and the false from voting. And that’s a big step. Please feel free to fill in any gaps I’ve missed, or to shoot my plan full of holes if you don’t think it will work. But if you do, I’d really like to read about your alternate plan. Because we need a plan, and if mine won’t do the job then maybe yours will. So pony up.

What about illegals who have fraudulent or stolen SSNs? Once again, this is where the branches of government have to digitally cooperate with each other. Digitally, because this kind of thing is a database to database communication with little or no human input. Social Security knows what numbers are valid, and what names those numbers were issued to. The credit card companies, the banks, and the utility companies - the sources of those letters that prove current address - know where you live. So showing up to vote with a falsely obtained registration card, or even trying to obtain a registration card under false pretenses, sets off an alarm. And alerts the cops and ICE. And earns the registration clerk a $100 bonus for bagging an illegal or a cheater. But that’s another side issue.

So what do we do about them that scream raaaaacism when anyone tries to True The Vote? Throw it right back at them: they are guilty of the prejudice of lowered expectations. They are in support of fraud. Don’t question their patriotism, deny it entirely. We The People are all equal in this. Belonging to any kind of group - ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, whatever - has no bearing at all. And it’s high time we took that stance, took up the fight, and won this little pissing contest once and for all. The first step to recovering national faith in our leaders is making sure that the electing of those leaders is done only by the properly qualified citizens. The next step is making sure that the system used to do that electing is honest and bulletproof. The next step is making sure that the people vying to become elected leaders are qualified to do so. The step after that, once they’ve been elected, is holding their feet to the fire every single day to make sure they do what is right. And that’s what we have to do to get our country back.

law and total dis-order, the criminal system hard at work while victim numbers grow.

This is something even beyond depravity, but I can’t think of the word.
No surprise. Just look at the creep.  Hunting for words and can’t find the right ones.  The same for the second article.  This sort of thing just drives me up the wall. It’s so easy to correct and yet the hand wringing fools won’t see it, thus creating future victims.  Even if this country didn’t have strict (for law abiding) gun control, these women would not have stood a chance. Possibly the younger of the two might but it’s doubtful.  Not many 90 yr old ladies in need of care would have one.  So it’s up to the state I think, to remove forever the sort of walking filth like this nigger and the vile white trash in the 2nd article.

Only a week ago, Justice Secretary Ken Clarke went to great pains to reassure critics who feared his apparently soft policy of jailing fewer criminals would mean allowing even violent thugs to remain at liberty.

In unequivocal language, he spelt out to the Tory conference: ‘For serious criminals, prison is the best and only sentence. It is the punishment for serious crime that society expects and accepts.’
And to remove any shred of doubt, he added: ‘Career criminals and violent, dangerous criminals should be in prison – not roaming our streets.’
What a difference a week makes.
Today, the Sentencing Council turns those fine words on their head, issuing draft rules which will mean – you’ve guessed it – thousands more violent thugs will be free to roam our streets.
Incredibly, attackers may avoid jail even after a conviction for causing permanent disability or disfigurement.
For under the guidelines, expected to come into force next year, judges and magistrates will be instructed to look leniently on a wide range of mitigating factors, including the assailant’s youth or immaturity.
What difference does a thug’s age make to the victims of a vicious attack – or didn’t anyone think of asking them?

Why oh why do judges inform the criminals what they’ve done and make a speech about it. The rats don’t wanna know and care less.
There are crimes where there is no doubt about guilt. Yet this sub human scum had a lawyer, making excuses for him.  Someone who does this kind of thing really needs to be dead, and his defender along with him.

He warned his victims that killing held no fear for him. Of course not. They don’t have a death penalty here. Read is all at the link.

‘Depraved’ gang leader who forced 91-year-old woman to perform sex act on her carer jailed by horrified judge

By Daily Mail Reporter

A depraved gang leader who forced a 91-year-old woman to perform sex acts on her elderly carer at knife-point was today jailed indefinitely by a judge who branded the case one of the most ‘sickening and harrowing’ he had ever heard.

Michael Lewis, 21, recorded the violent and humiliating ordeal on his mobile phone as a ‘trophy’ to show members of south London’s Brixton Hill Blood gang.

Passing sentence, Judge Roger Chapple said the attack showed there were ‘no limits to the depths of depravity that some will descend to.’

Known as ‘Joker 187 General’ - the number referring to the American code for murder -, Lewis cut the phone line and threatened to kill his terrified victims.
The carer was making her way into the pensioner’s home when Lewis, who had pulled his hoodie down over his scarred face, approached and forced his way in.

He then subjected the pair to the humiliating attack, forcing them to perform a series of sex acts until he fled warning he would return if they called the police.

‘The reasons for your behaviour are to me entirely unfathomable,’ the judge said.

‘The ordeal suffered at your hands by these two women has properly been described as horrific.

‘The emotional scars you have inflicted upon them are deep and permanent. I am faced with a defendant who, for no reason I can begin to understand, has committed behaviour of the utmost gravity.

‘You were not affected by drink or drugs and have no disability. What you did fills me with utter revulsion.

Send fewer thugs to jail and save £20m a year, judges and JPs told

By Steve Doughty
Last updated at 2:44 PM on 14th October 2010

Judges and magistrates were yesterday ordered to send fewer violent thugs to jail.

New guidelines mean those guilty of grievous bodily harm or beating up a police officer will remain on the streets rather than going to prison.

And courts will be told to count the youth or remorse of an attacker as a mark in their favour.

Freedom Pass

The guidelines could mean:
- Between 1,000 and 2,800 fewer offenders jailed each year for common assault.
- Between 300 and 900 fewer jailed each year for assault causing actual bodily harm.
- Between 200 and 700 fewer jailed each year for assault on a police officer.
- Between 15 and 50 fewer jailed each year for assault with intent to resist arrest.
- Between ten and 30 fewer jailed each year for causing grievous bodily harm.

There’s at least one judge who doesn’t agree ...  Justice Leveson said guidelines were being ignored and longer sentences handed out

HOWEVER ......  Take a look at this story and see if you really believe that.

Evil teenagers who ‘tortured’ autistic boy, 17, for three days free to roam streets after judge fails to lock them up
By Jaya Narain

A family has reacted with horror and disbelief after a gang of teenage thugs who subjected an autistic boy to a terrifying three-day ‘torture’ ordeal walked free from court.

The gang used a mobile phone to film themselves carrying out depraved assaults on their 17-year-old victim.

During a sickening spree of violence the three thugs kicked and stamped on his head, repeatedly punched him in the chest, beat him with a tennis racket and then threw him down a steep embankment.

Mobile phone footage showed the yobs laughing and joking as they made him endure other abuse and, in a final humiliating assault, they applied adhesive tape to his genital area before ripping the tape off.

But Jack Bolton, Andrew Griffin, and Nathan Marshall, all 18, walked free from court.

Last night the teenager’s family, senior police officers and an MP branded the sentence ‘a joke’ and called for it to be reviewed.

His aunt, with whom he lived, said: ‘The things that these boys did to him were awful and disgusting. In my book they could have killed him and need to be jailed. The sentence is a joke. I can’t believe they have got off so lightly.’

crime and punishment … or light as usual or none as the case may be.

I was wondering just why I spend so damn much time with stories like these. Answering myself I guess it’s because they bother me a lot.  I don’t understand them or the system that allows it.  I have no faith in or respect for what is laughingly referred to as the, ‘justice’ system.  What justice? Where?  It can’t cause any wonderment that the bad guys don’t take it too seriously either. Who can blame them? Why the heck should they?  Where’s the incentive to worry about the law?

The following story actually had some humor in it only due to the stupidity of the bad guy.  The fellow has a record, he’s been arrested before and has done the same again.  What got to me was reading the terms of jail, or in another case no jail, for the criminals.  And the victims?  Who? Oh, the victims. Yeah, well, ya see....  oh. Right. The victims. Ah ... what about em?

His last burglary was in 2004.
This one is almost close to being a victimless crime. There is someone who was the recipient of his burglary but on a scale of 1 to 5 this one doesn’t rate very hight at all.  It’s the jail time compared to something else that got my attention.

The dumbest burglar in Britain? Crook caught after stealing neighbour’s net curtains… and hanging them in his own window

Criminal, 38, behind ‘not very sophisticated’ crime has 28 convictions

image

A burglar who stole his next door neighbour’s net curtains was caught when he put them up in his own window, a court was told.

Jason Williams was jailed for two years and five months after admitting his fourth house burglary.

The 38-year-old was rumbled when the neighbours went to his home and asked him why he had got their net curtains.  The crime was described as ‘not very sophisticated’ by the defendant’s own barrister.

Elizabeth Lowe, prosecuting, told the court the neighbour had moved out of the property and left only a few items inside.

Williams broke down boarding on the home in Slough, Berkshire, and stole the net curtains, tools, two glass ashtrays and some lamb steaks from the freezer.

‘The person at the address had moved out because of an earlier burglary which was nothing to do with this defendant at all,’ Miss Lowe said.

‘They had boards up as a result of having left some items inside of not very much value.  ‘They had last checked on May 6 and on May 8 a neighbour had said it looked to him that the boards had been disturbed.

‘In the next door flat they noticed that their net curtains were hanging there.’ However, the defendant denied that it was anything to do with him - but could not say how he got the net curtains, a judge at Reading Crown Court was told.  He later confessed to the crime in police interviews and admitted burglary when he appeared before magistrates court.

Alastair Smith, defending, said that it had merely been an ‘opportunistic’ crime.

‘The fact that this defendant went on to place the curtains in his own window shows a lack of sophistication and realisation of the seriousness of the offence,’ he said.

‘If he realised it could lead to three years in custody he might have taken more time to consider his actions.’

The defendant, who has battled alcoholism and drug addiction, has 28 previous convictions for 76 offences dating back to 1985, the court was told.

Judge Gordon Risius jailed Williams for two years and five months under the ‘three strikes’ rule because it was his fourth burglary of a dwelling.

NOT A SMART BURGLAR

So our rocket scientist burglar gets two years, not much considering his long record but okay.  He may be better off. Three squares a day bed and board. Not exactly a holiday but I bet better then the way he’d been living judging by the mug shot.

No link and not a long article but just a blurb about the former financial director of the London Philharmonic. From 2007 to 2009, he defrauded the orchestra
of about a million dollars.
He got four years jail time.  He deserves it and I think more but it isn’t up to me. ok.
What does bother me though, is that people can go to jail for four years for fraud ...  a burglar with a long, long record will get two years ....
Regular viewers of BMEWS already are aware of the problems caused by travelers/gypsies setting up illegal camps with NO penalties, NO fines and certainly NO jail time.  But it just seems as though you can beat, stab, shoot and create all sorts of mayhem I read about every day, and not get a lot more time then these fellas have.  Maybe 6 to 8 years in many cases.  Even judges have complained that they’d give longer terms but their hands are tied.
And this all brings me down to this sad story. And the lack of any kind of retribution.  The victim here can communicate only by blinking his eyes. But the perp is a fair youth is too young to be ID’d.  What nonsense that is.

Teenager who paralysed man in drunken attack walks free because jail term not ‘useful’

A teenager who left a man severely paralysed and able to communicate only by blinking has been spared jail after a judge ruled it would not be “useful”.

By John Bingham

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, left Nicholas Butt, a 26-year-old market analyst, in a coma after the drunken, unprovoked attack in Nottingham on May 16.

Mr Butt, who worked for an internet clothing company, was out celebrating scoring the winning goal with his football team when he was set upon outside a sandwich bar.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that the boy, who was then aged 15, was “steaming drunk” and “looking for a fight”, having already been involved in two other disturbances earlier that night. Mr Butt was knocked to the ground, cracking his skull on the pavement, leaving him unconscious.  The court heard that surgeons had to cut open the top of his skull to deal with swelling to his brain.

He remained in a coma for months and is now in rehabilitation.

The boy, who has a troubled background and history of violence, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm yesterday.

As a juvenile the maximum term he could receive for the offence is two years but because of his guilty plea, his remorse and other mitigating factors the term would be reduced to only eight months, the court heard.

He has already spent four months in custody, reducing any jail term further. Recorder Sean Smith QC told the court that such a sentence would have seen the boy, from Nottingham, released in only a few months without any further formal supervision.  Instead he imposed a two year supervision order, banned him from all licensed premises. He is also subject to a six month curfew and must report to police regularly.

“In no way shape or form would it be useful to anyone if I sent you back home after serving a short sentence with no supervision,” the judge said.

Handing the boy a photograph of his victim, he told him: “Here is a picture of a young man without the top of his head. Unlike you he is not going to live a normal life.

“It is not only Mr Butt but also his family who are going to have to live with the consequence of what you did for the rest of their lives.” Angela Burrell, Mr Butt’s aunt, accepted the decision but said her family had been devastated by the attack.

“[The judge] has to address the fact that the young man has personal problems but that does very little to address our problems,” she said.

“Nicholas is unlikely to talk or walk ever again.

“It has changed his life forever and that of his family and many friends.”

Law of unintended consequences?

Another Fur Farm Raid in the EU

“duh, it wasn’t us” says animal rights lunatics.

Liars.

Thousands of Irish Minks Set Free Only To Die

image

DUBLIN – The roads and rivers of northwest Ireland are suddenly lined with mink.

Managers at Anderson’s Mink Farm said Wednesday that many of their cages and fences were cut and opened over the weekend, freeing an estimated 5,000 animals into the wilds of County Donegal. About 28,000 others declined the invitation to bolt for freedom.

More than 100 already have been recaptured by hunters using cage traps, while several hundred others have been run over and killed. Drivers have reported seeing groups of the farm-reared animals standing, dazzled by headlights, in the middle of busy roads.

One of the farm’s directors, Connie Anderson, blamed animal rights activists for invading the farm in the early hours of Sunday. He declined to explain why it took the farm so long to raise the public alarm.

“These people are animal liberation terrorists and had no thought for the mink or for the damage that will be done to other wildlife in the area,” Anderson said.

Agricultural authorities warned that the surviving minks could decimate local populations of salmon, rabbits and fowl.

Animal rights activists in Ireland have denied responsibility — but are praising whoever did it.

“We have nothing to do with it. However, I commend whoever risked their freedom to do this as these animals have a horrendous life,” said Bernie Wright, spokeswoman for Ireland’s Alliance for Animal Rights.

And this act is right on the heels of a similar one that happened in Greece just a couple of weeks ago ...

Sep 2, 2010

ATHENS, Greece — An international animal rights activist group has claimed responsibility for releasing more than 50,000 minks from two fur farms in northern Greece.

In an online statement, the Animal Liberation Front says it carried out the attacks last week near the towns of Kastoria and Siatista, in the heart of Greece’s fur industry.

Thursday’s statement said the break-ins were meant to hit the industry “and especially the disgusting ‘fur towns’ of Siatista and Kastoria, plagued with hundreds of fur stores.”

Greece’s National Fur Breeders’ Association said most of the animals released into the local ecosystem were likely to die in the heat. It said the cost to the farm owners could exceed euro1 million ($1.28 million).

So the ones that don’t die of heatstroke, get run over, or starve to death (these are farm raised animals with no hunting experience) will probably wipe out all the small game in the area. And then die. It’s happened before ...

These Critters First groups like The Animal Liberation Front don’t give a damn about the animals themselves. No, they are against people using animals to earn a living. We call it farming ... or ranching ... same thing I guess when you’re farming animals. But they think of it as exploitation.

Of course, they don’t stop for a second to consider that the european mink is a highly endangered species in the wild, and almost all the living animals are the ones raised on farms. That’s people’s faults too, of course.

Nutjobs.

Now, there is such a thing as responsible farming. When you raise livestock, you are as God to the animals; you order the timing of their birth and their death, you control their living conditions. So it is not responsible - it’s downright cruelty - to use the lives and health of the animals as a labor bargaining chip. This is criminal:

Minks ‘starved to death’ in wage dispute

Employees at a mink farm in Russia’s European exclave of Kaliningrad are starving their animals to demand unpaid wages, a Russian furrier, who owns the farm, said overnight.

Staff “refused to feed the animals to protest over unpaid salary arrears dating back to December,” Grigory Isayevich, the deputy director of the furrier Russian Furs, which raises some 300,000 minks at five farms, said.

He said several dozen angry employees had blocked access to the animals’ food stores last week in an unusual strike that prompted the struggling company to pay back a part of the wage arrears.

Minks at the farm had already been underfed and suffering from chronic food shortages as the firm teeters on the brink of bankruptcy due to Russians cutting back on purchases of luxury fur coats amid the global economic crisis.

In August, “as many as 500 animals died daily (of starvation) at the farm and the minks began to eat each other,” said Sergei Babasyuk, deputy head of the department of agriculture at the Bagrationovsky region, where the farm is based.

OTOH, the farmer could afford the feed for 300,000 minks but couldn’t afford to pay a couple dozen workers? That smells worse than a soggy bag of new Fishy Bits flavor Purina Mink Chow.

another drunk driver, another set of victims.  la angles pitcher NICK_ADENHART, dies result of crash

Caught this article in Brit paper ....

Stories about drunk drivers are a dime a dozen and the only thing that sets this one apart is the fact that one of the victims was a baseball player for the LA Angles.  Since it’s American based I would imagine that folks at home in the USA already know about it.
My reason for posting it is to ask a question.  Since the only photos I can find are the ones in the Daily Mail article (see link below), I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how people would have died in this wreck.  We see the front of the van but not much else. The article doesn’t say how fast the drunk bastard was going, the windshield doesn’t look broken or shattered.  It also doesn’t say if they were wearing seat belts or not.  Apparently the drunk was able to drive away so how much damage did his car have?  It just seems like such a freak like accident.  And as almost always the way, the drunks usually walk away unscathed leaving victims behind.  And this SOB had a record of DUI.  Life in jail is too good for this creep.

Drunk driver found guilty of murder of new star pitcher for LA Angels after horror crash

By David Gardner

image

A drunk driver faces life behind bars after being convicted today of murdering promising Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two of his friends.

Andrew Gallo, 23, showed little emotion as a jury read out the guilty verdicts at Santa Ana courthouse in Orange County.

Adenhart, 22, was killed just hours after pitching six scoreless innings in his season debut in April, 2009.

Gallo had spent hours drinking beers and shots at three different bars with his stepbrother before running a red light and slamming into a car driven by Adenhart’s friend, 20-year-old Courtney Stewart.

The young driver, a student and former cheerleader at Cal State Fullerton, and passenger Henry Pearson, a 25-year-old law school student who was building a sports management business, were both killed instantly.

Adenhart died later in surgery.

A third passenger, Jon Wilhite, survived, but was severely injured when the impact of the collision separated his skull from his spine.

Gallo’s blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit at the time of the crash. He fled after the crash, but was later caught and charged.

sick and decaying Britain ……….

Things to do and the weather is miserable ... damp, misty English chill in the air ...  Bogged down with a project and took a break and found this. Said screw the break I just had to share this thing.  It’s mind boggling maddening.

Earlier this week one of the top cops in the country said they’d lost the streets to the punks, who now rule. It was sort of interesting but nothing the public hasn’t known for some time. In other words, nothing new but confirmation of the known.  Especially the victims and the families of.

Today, there was an example of just how much the bastards (yobs to Brits, thugs/punks to us) really do rule.

This is the headline that went to the story.

Police ‘have lost the public’s trust’: We’ve retreated from the streets and broken our contract says Yard chief

One of the side stories that went with is is this and it is NOT the worst.

How yobs were allowed to run riot

THE CAR VANDALS

Graham Lukes from Glenrothes is having trouble with his neighbours but says no action has been taken

‘Neighbours from hell’: Graham Lukes and his partially-blind wife Christine have seen the peace and quiet of their suburban community torn apart

In the three years since their ‘neighbours from hell’ moved in, Graham Lukes and his partially-blind wife Christine have seen the peace and quiet of their middle-class suburban community torn apart.

From the outset, the ‘dysfunctional’ family of council tenants seemed to take pleasure in making their lives a misery.

First it was interminable noisy late-night parties, then intimidation and verbal abuse.
Bags of rubbish were dumped over the fence, attracting rats.

Bottles of urine were thrown into their pristine garden, and cars were driven recklessly, at high speed, around the square outside.

Mr Lukes, 64, made repeated complaints to police and the council but no action was taken.

The children terrorised the neighbourhood - but he realised there was little point reporting the problems, so he and Christine, 61, simply had to endure them.

Then last week, in the middle of the night, a tin of pink emulsion paint was dumped over his two-year old silver Chevrolet and the tyres deflated.

Mr Lukes called the police and explained what had happened, expecting that finally some action would be taken.

Astonishingly, he was told no crime had been committed. The paint could be washed off, the officer said, and the tyres reflated.

LOTS MORE HERE

No freekin crime?  Then WTF do they call crime here?  Oh right. My memory plays tricks.  Insulting a protected minority, burning a koran, using the ‘N’ word or the term WOG, questioning if travelers belong wherever they settle. The list is longer I believe.
Wanna hear read worse?  Some of the “dysfunctional families are .....

“PROTECTED FAMILIES.” Can you believe that?  I read but have no idea if it’s actually true.  Protected from what and from who?  The police?
But everything I have just posted above is still not the reason I stopped what I was doing to boot the puter and post this. The following is really a foul, disgusting and very sad commentary on the state of things here.  It isn’t as though this happens everywhere.  And naturally things like this will be well covered by the press. Every day. What makes it so god damned bad is that so far, it is not controlled sufficiently.  If at all.  The punks laugh when they are arrested, and brag to friends and foe alike. They are almost immune.  It’s rare indeed when one of them gets what is coming to him.  Meanwhile there is a gaggle of civil rights lawyers at beck and call to see that the rights of the thugs are not violated.  And don’t even think gun.  Just having one illegally can find you in a very bad fix.  Unless of course you’re a minority member or a yoot of tender age at 13 or 15.

This bothers the hell outta me .......

Tormented to death: Pensioner, 80, dies after she falls into manhole trap set by yobs who made her life a misery

By Daily Mail Reporter

An 80-year-old woman died after sick yobs removed a manhole cover from her driveway and she plunged into the hole in darkness.

Jenny Ward, who still worked on a market stall selling jewellery, had been plagued by a gang of youths who smashed the windows of her home and taunted her for several months.

The thugs’ campaign of harassment eventually ended in tragedy when the pensioner returned home and fell into the trap late one night.

Her cries for help went unheard for three hours until she was finally rescued by firefighters.

After spending a month in hospital and enduring an operation on her foot, Mrs Ward went to live with a relative, but took a turn for the worse and died in hospital on September 8.

Blackpool coroner’s office said Mrs Ward died after a blood clot formed in her lung caused by deep vein thrombosis.

However, friends and neighbours of the pensioner, who had run a market stall in Blackpool for 50 years, said she had never recovered from the campaign of torment and her fall into the manhole.

They have accused police of not doing enough to deal with anti-social behaviour and urged them to find those responsible.

They said that in the weeks leading up to the manhole incident she been scared to return to her home on Shetland Road, because a gang of around ten to 15 teenagers would gather regularly outside her home.

her fall into the manhole

Here’s an old lady still working at age 80.  Chances good the thugs who did this are collecting “benefits.” I’m certain you would not bet against that.
Here’s an old lady, alone and afraid because she was getting verbal abuse and she had her windows smashed by yoots.  Scum of the worst sort. This old woman didn’t deserve what happened to her or the treatment she received at the hands of criminals. She will not be their last victim.  You can take that to the bank!

What about my human rights, asks woman beaten unconscious ….

Should you need any further proof that the world has become a most illogical place where down has become up etc., this maddening course of judicial madness, what other word can be used here, sums things up pretty well.

Of course it isn’t the only story like it where the “rights” of the criminal creep are zealously guarded while the victim cowers in fear, frustration, disillusionment and anger.  I’d bet any one of us could come up with something like this at least once a day, in almost any country in the world today. Let me amend that. In all western countries.  And ain’t this a bitch.  Western countries as I write this are trying their hardest to turn China away from the death penalty. They are trying to convince the Chinese that our way of criminal justice is better then theirs.  Hmmm. Don’t know. Maybe.  It’s sure better for the criminals and that’s a certainty.

Read on.

What about my human rights, asks woman beaten unconscious by asylum-seeker ex-lover freed by immigration judge

By Katherine Faulkner

A dangerous criminal who has no legal right to be in Britain has gone on the run after a judge ruled that to detain him would violate his human rights.
Failed asylum seeker Kawa ali Azad, who carries knives and is described by his ex-partner as ‘completely unbalanced,’ was granted his freedom from an immigration centre in March.

Azad, an Iraqi Kurd, who has six convictions for violence, immediately breached the bail terms of the release by failing to appear at a police station to have an electronic tag fitted.
He then breached a lifetime restraining order by making threats against his ex-partner. Police have had to move her and their son and give them a new identity because of his repeated harassment.

Azad, 34, has now been on the run for more than five months – and police admit they have no idea where he is.
They are so concerned about the risk he poses to his ex-partner Tania Doherty that she has been ordered not to visit family and friends and to carry an ‘abduction pack’ with the details and DNA of her son of four, in case he is snatched.

Miss Doherty, whose new name cannot be disclosed, says she is terrified he will return to kidnap their son or hurt her family – both of which he has threatened.
‘I just cannot believe he was released,’ she says. ‘I am disgusted.

‘He has attacked me in broad daylight and threatened to kill me and members of my family. I really fear for my son.’
Azad has been convicted of a string of violent offences, as well as dangerous driving, since he arrived in Britain.

When Miss Doherty ended their relationship in 2006, he battered, harassed and assaulted her for two years. This culminated in an attack in which he beat her unconscious as she sat on a beach in Eastbourne with their son before attempting to snatch the boy.

Azad was jailed for 12 months after the attack. Following his release from prison the Border Agency tried to deport him and he was flown to Baghdad airport.

On the run: Kawa ali Azad has been on the run since March after an immigration judge freed him
But Iraqi authorities refused to accept him and he was sent back to Colnbrook immigration removal centre near Heathrow.

when life for murder means 14 years … the criminal system at work

ok guys , here’s the plan.

We cut the guys throat and toss him in some lane somewhere.  Oh wait, hang on.  We also need to make certain he’s dead, so lets stab him 37 times. Right. That should do it. Then after our trial where we’re given life for murder, we get to spend £5G of taxpayer money for plastic surgery.  Later on, we get to go on shopping trips outside prison and meet with pals and have a gay old time.
AND … in 14 years we’re FREE.  Free. Free at last.

Hey ... is this a wonderful system if ur a killer ,er what?

Road rage murderer Tracie Andrews ‘let out of jail for eight-hour shopping spree’

By Daily Mail Reporter
August 23, 2010

Day trip: Tracie Andrews, pictured in 1997, has been let out of prison for a shopping trip

image

One of Britain’s most notorious female murderers has been let out of prison for a shopping spree, it has been revealed.

Tracie Andrews, who is serving a life sentence after stabbing boyfriend Lee Harvey to death and claiming he was the victim of a road rage attack, enjoyed a leisurely eight-hour day out, stopping for lunch and buying clothes.

The day trips come ahead of Andrews’ planned release next year and have angered Mr Harvey’s mother Maureen.

Wearing sunglasses and carrying a designer handbag, Andrews caught the bus to York on Saturday after being released from Askham Grange open prison, the Sun reported.

Once in town she met up with a friend for coffee before strolling through the shops to pick up some DVDs, clothes, sportswear and beauty products.

The friends stopped for lunch at a local Nando’s restaurant before continuing to peruse the stores.

Andrews appeared to be enjoying herself and was seen frequently chatting on her mobile.

She is being allowed on days out to prepare for her full release next year after serving 15 years of a life sentence for murdering her boyfriend.

Maureen Harvey, 62, told The Sun: ‘To be honest, it’s very upsetting and traumatic.’

A prison source said: ‘Tracie is one of Britain’s most notorious killers and people will be alarmed to know that she’s out on shopping trips.

‘Crime victims will be disgusted to see such leniency.’

Mr Harvey, 25, bled to death in a country lane in December 1996.

Andrews concocted a story that he had been murdered by a wild-eyed maniac, but it was she who cut her fiance’s throat and stabbed him 37 times.

The murderer, 40 - who has had a string of lesbian affairs behind bars and now calls herself Tia Carter - was back in the headlines last year when it was revealed that she underwent a £5,000 plastic surgery operation at the taxpayers’ expense.

She was admitted to Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford for four days to undergo surgery to realign her jaw.

She was jailed for life, with a recommendation that she should serve at least 14 years.

Police told not to pursue stolen motorbikes… because thieves weren’t wearing helmets …

Happens a lot and I bet back home in the US as well. But perhaps not quite as much as here.  This isn’t the first time for this kind of thing.

Read the comments following the article.  The photo of the shop owner is interesting. Guy looks like sad sack. Can’t say I blame him.

Police told not to pursue stolen motorbikes… because thieves weren’t wearing helmets and might get hurt

By James Tozer

As a gang of raiders roared off on three high-powered motorbikes they had just stolen, they were spotted by police.

But the officers were told not to chase the thieves, because a pursuit would put the criminals’ health and safety at risk.

They were not wearing crash helmets and might have fallen off and hurt themselves.

Yesterday the decision to let the robbers escape was greeted with incredulity, and critics asked why the welfare of criminals was more important than catching them.

The balaclava-clad trio smashed into a showroom in Greater Manchester, late last Thursday night and stole three motorcycles worth a total of £20,000.

Officers who saw them escaping radioed their inspector but were told that because the thieves were not wearing crash helmets or protective clothing it would be unsafe to pursue them.

They are still at large, although one of the bikes has been recovered.

Tony Crawford, who runs the Manchester Motorbike Store which was targeted, said: ‘It’s bizarre that a criminal’s health and safety is more important than catching them.

‘It’s not the police I blame, it’s the politicians who’ve put these ridiculous rules in place.

‘They’re effectively telling criminals that as long as they make their getaway on a motorbike and don’t wear a helmet, the police won’t be allowed to chase them.’

He was backed by Graham Brady, Conservative MP for Altrincham and Sale West, who said: ‘I am astonished that the welfare of criminals in the act of breaking the law should be put before the public’s expectation that they should be apprehended.

‘I expect most police officers would be deeply frustrated not to be allowed to pursue criminals because of health and safety issues.’

Chris Burrows, chairman of the Greater Manchester branch of the Police Federation, agreed that officers found such situations ‘incredibly frustrating’ but said they had to comply with guidelines.

Superintendent Steve Nibloe, of Greater Manchester Police, confirmed the officers were following ‘a nationwide policy which gives clear guidance that motorbikes should not be pursued because of the higher risk of injury to the rider’.

He added: ‘The officers were asked not to pursue the suspects as they were not wearing the correct safety equipment and were not wearing helmets, so it is clear to me the correct decision was taken.’

Police have been criticised over the number of deaths during high-speed pursuits, and new guidelines drawn up by the Association of Chief Police Officers are aimed at balancing the potential risk against the gravity of the crime.

Greater Manchester Chief Constable Peter Fahy said that in the case of the motorbike thefts, his officers had probably been right not to give chase.

He said: ‘What are the chances of us catching a high-powered motorbike? Pretty low.

‘What is the risk to the offender? The risk is that he is probably going to get killed. It is about balance.’

But he added: ‘My main frustration is that people seem to want it both ways.

‘We get criticised hugely about deaths in police pursuits – was it worth somebody losing their life? – but then in a case like this we are being criticised that we did make a judgment that putting somebody’s life at risk wasn’t worth it.’

To court for swearing ….  More fun with Law and Disorder …

It’s Sat. After a cloudy and very cool start this summer day, toward the end as we are, the sun shines bright and the sky is blue dotted by puffy white clouds.
One of those days where you look out the window and think, all is well in the world without a care.  Uh huh.  Unless you’re reading the days papers and see red along with the blue sky.

This is is one of those really loony stories I can’t pass without sharing.
I’ll tell you the happy ending first.  Her name is Natalie Harrop and .. She was cleared of any wrongdoing by magistrates at Bolton, Greater Manchester on Thursday but was warned not to offend in the following 12 months and threatened with a £100 fine.

See? Good news.  She was cleared with a warning.  Her offense?  I’ll get to that in a second.

So our Natalie and her boyfriend are at home one evening when there’s a resounding crash.  An upstairs window has been broken.  Not to worry. Just yoots having some fun.  Except Natalie finds nothing funny about it after the boyfriend goes outside and ends up being chased by a gang of street punks.

Well, by coincidence a police car comes by and stops, seeing a possible confrontation. They tell what happened.  And she’s is one angry lady.  Policeman tells her to go back into her house.

She was drinking a can of beer and shouted towards the youths. She swore at one of them.

Miss Natalie Harrop, was charged with using language that could possibly have alarmed or distressed the youths.

Sudden Lack of Bud in California

Police seize $1.7bn worth of marijuana in California

Police in California say they have seized $1.7bn worth of marijuana plants in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

They have also arrested 97 people over the past three weeks, most of them Mexican nationals believed to have ties with Mexican drug cartels.

White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said police had found industrial-sized plantations of marijuana.

Experts say Mexican cartels are increasingly growing marijuana in the US, rather than smuggling it there.

450 officers from local, state and federal agencies took part in the raids in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California.

California authorities said on Thursday they have made dozens of arrests and destroyed marijuana plants worth billions of dollars on farms that officials said are controlled by Mexican drug traffickers.

The street value of the marijuana destroyed in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains was put at $1.7 billion.

Authorities destroyed some 270 acres of marijuana plants, which were irrigated and spread with fertilizer.

“The mission is a collective fight against organized crime,” Madera County Sheriff John Anderson said.

A series of raids that began in January in three northern and central California counties—dubbed Operation Trident—netted 97 arrests and more than 400,000 marijuana plants,

Authorities also seized nearly 500 pounds of harvested marijuana, 74 ounces of cocaine, 49 ounces of methamphetamine and numerous weapons.

Those arrested were charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, weapons possession and immigration offenses, the sheriff’s office said.

Leader of Mexico’s Sinaloa drug cartel killed
One of the top three leaders of Mexico’s most powerful drug cartel, Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel,” has been killed in a gun battle with soldiers.

The death of Coronel, 56, is the biggest strike yet against Sinaloa cartel led by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman - Mexico’s top drug lord - since President Felipe Calderon launched a military offensive against drug traffickers in late 2006.

According to the FBI, which offered a $5 million reward for Coronel, he was believed to be “the forerunner in producing massive amounts of methamphetamine in clandestine laboratories in Mexico, then smuggling it into the US.”

Sources from the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) confirmed the joint elite army/air force operation, composed of at least 150 soldiers and supported by two helicopters, also detained at least 10 men who made up Coronel’s personal bodyguard team.

Troops were deployed on at least five residential streets and restricted the traffic of vehicles and people during the clash. Residents reported gunfire and detonations during the operation

Pictures here, not much to see really. Notice the soldiers are using G3A3s, not M16s. No poodle shooting going on here!

Gee, too bad. Hope the cartels keep right on killing each other. And those poor mistreated Mexicans, just simple farmers, growing a crop for market. While armed to the teeth and cooking up pots of meth on the side. Arrested for doing the jobs Americans won’t do, as usual. And charged with immigration violations. The indignity.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
