Going through the email, finally. Part 1

This from Christopher B, who has been keeping track of the BS or so it seems:

Obama’s Not Exactlys:

1.) Selma March Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google’Obama Selma ‘ for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - NOT EXACTLY, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.
4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya . It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Oba ma, is Odinga’s follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification of that....and for more.
Obama’s cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians’ homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.
5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - NOT EXACTLY, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn’t allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.
6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and ‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.
Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side. While Barack Hussein Obama’s father was from Kenya , his father’s family was mainly Arabs… Barack Hussein Obama’s father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father’s birth certificate even states he’s Arab, not African Negro). From....and for more....go to.....
http://www.arcadeathome.com/newsboy.phtml?Barack_Hussein_Obama_-_Arab-American,_only_6.25%25_African
7.) I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.
4-3-08 Article ‘Obama was ‘quite religious in islam’’ http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=60559
8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - NOT EXACTLY, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).
February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to p ray er, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to p ray er as ‘one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.’ This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says ‘Obama’s narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.’
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could speak the language.
10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia , I Have More Foreign Experience - NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn’t even speak the language. What did you learn except how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.
11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.
12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - NOT EXACTLY, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just fine
13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - NOT EXACTLY, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - NOT EXACTLY, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.
15.) I Won’t Run On A National Ticket In ‘08 - NOT EXACTLY, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.
16.) Voting ‘Present’ is Common In Illinois Senate - NOT EXACTLY, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.
17.) Oops, I Misvoted - NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups and Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.
18.) I Was A Professor Of Law - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - NOT EXACTLY, you didn’t write it, introduce it, change it or create it.
21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14 days from start to finish.
22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - NOT EXACTLY, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.
23.) I Have Released My State Records - NOT EXACTLY, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.
24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - NOT EXACTLY, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens . You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.
25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America - NOT EXACTLY, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - NOT EXACTLY, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year - NOT EXACTLY, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA - NOT EXACTLY, the Canadian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.
29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - NOT EXACTLY, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction off Israel .
30.) I Want All Votes To Count - NOT EXACTLY, you said let the delegates decide.
31.) I Want Americans To Decide - NOT EXACTLY, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.
32.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate - NOT EXACTLY, you passed 26, most of which you didn’t write yourself.
33.) I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics - NOT EXACTLY, you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.
34.) I Don’t Take PAC Money - NOT EXACTLY, you take loads of it.
35.) I don’t Have Lobbyists - NOT EXACTLY, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.
36.) My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad - NOT EXACTLY, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.
37.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq - NOT EXACTLY, you weren’t in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time.
38.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care - NOT EXACTLY, your plan leaves us all to pay for the 15,000,000 who don’t have to buy it.
39.) My uncle liberated Auschwitz concentration camp - NOT EXACTLY, your mother had no brothers and the Russan army did the liberating.

So, who EXACTLY is this Obama guy and what is he trying to sell us?  Please get to work now...not enough of your loved ones and friends know about this fraud.

Coming from a TRUE American, this is not the ‘Change’ we want or need.  You can Google all this information.  I don’t know a lot of people so I am depending on whoever gets this to help me ‘Educate’ America . I am afraid that Obama is doing just as his brother did, going after the uneducated, poor, and promising ‘Change’, they have no idea what ‘change’ he will bring. Our only savior is our LORD and our Constitution, for right now, until that “IS” ‘changed.’ The Commie, Socialist, Liberal, PinkOs can only “change” the Constitution—they can NOT change our LORD!

“Politicians are the lowest form of life on earth.  Liberal Democrats are the lowest form of politician."--General George S. Patton, JR.

All Sarah, All the Time

Two links to sites that have posted Sarah Palin vs. Obozo/BidetBiden comparisons. Nicely done guys!

Wolf Howling brings us Palin In Comparison, a well done essay with lots of pictures. Between SP and BO it ain’t even a contest. Which is funny, because there is actually no contest between them. It’s between BO and that other guy, McSomething.

Sarah Palin working for a living on the family fishing trawler

Red State runs The Tale of the Tape. No pictures, but Obama doesn’t measure up because there is nothing there to even measure. He hasn’t done anything, ever. Wake up America!

I especially love how Red State points out how Obullshit is “bringing change from outside Washinton DC” by appointing a 36 year incumbent as his running mate. Fresh air baby!

DumbObama Quote Of The Day, and a choice reaction from Ankle Biting Pundits!

“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We’ve got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,” Obama responded, “Our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the past couple of years and certainly in terms of the legislation I’ve passed in the past couple of years, post-Katrina.”

First of all you dope, she has been a Governor for almost 2 years, and there are tens of thousands of state workers and about a ten billion dollar budget.

But is he really comparing running a campaign to being a governor?  What legislature does his campaign have to deal with? What laws come to the desk of his campaign staff?  Who do the people on his campaign have to serve and answer to besides…. well, him? And what legislation has Barack Obama passed post-Katrina?

This guy becomes more and more of a joke every day.

commenters there point out more of the funny:

  • Like this dimnod ACTUALLY does any of the “running” of his campaign!

  • I think that the biggest trap of all is that he - nominee for President - is comparing himself to Palin - nominee for Vice President. In doing so he (and his campaign) implicitly concede that he is no where near as qualified as McCain, and that he can only be competitive against Palin. What next? an Obama - Palin debate?

Here at BMEWS I’ll figure out some way to amp up the Palin Points. Somehow ...

The Voice is Silenced

In a world where every movie trailer voiceover for the past 30 years has begun “In a world where ...” that voice is now silenced forever.

“That announcer guy”, Don Lafontaine, dies at 68

Sadness. Now we’re down to Gary Owens, Edward Herrmann, and John Corbett. Don Pardo, 90, has pretty much retired at this point. And Owens and Herrmann aren’t exactly spring chickens anymore.

Don LaFontaine, the man behind the chilling voice in various movie trailers and commercials, died Monday, his agent said. He was 68.

LaFontaine’s vocal talents have appeared in over 5,000 movie trailers and nearly 350,000 commercials. He is most famous for the introductory line, “In a world...”

LaFontaine most recently appeared in a Geico Insurance commercial where he was referred to as “that announcer guy.”

He is survived by his wife, singer/actress Nita Whitaker, and three children Christine, Skye and Elyse.

LaFontaine, known as the “King of Voiceovers,” died Monday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. LaFontaine’s agent, Vanessa Gilbert, tells ET that he passed away following complications from Pneumothorax, the presence of air or gas in the pleural cavity, the result of a collapsed lung. The official cause of death has not yet been released.

Over the past 25 years, LaFontaine cemented his position as the “King of Voiceovers.” Aside from being the preeminent voice in the movie trailer industry, Don also worked as the voice of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, as well as for CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and UPN, in addition to TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network. By conservative estimates, he voiced hundreds of thousands of television and radio spots, including commercials for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Budweiser, McDonalds, Coke, and many other corporate sponsors.

BBC Update, 5 shot and buried alive in honor killings by the ROP.

H/T Valgerd with thanks.

Pretty bad stuf.  Aren’t those of us lucky who weren’t born in those places or born to the ROP?  Yet some westerners actually convert to this insanity.
Worse yet, they want the rest of us to accept islam. Yeah. In a pigs whatever.

Pakistan women’s bodies exhumed
Women’s groups have expressed outrage over the killings
Police in Pakistan have exhumed the bodies of two women allegedly buried alive in western Balochistan province.

They have also arrested six people, including some relatives of the women.

Reports from the area say the women were killed in July because they wanted to marry men of their own choice, against the wishes of tribal elders.

Three other women were also reported killed but police have not found their bodies. Human rights groups have expressed outrage at the killings.

On Monday, Pakistan’s Senate called for action to be taken against those responsible for what it called “brutal murders”.

Last week two senators caused uproar by suggesting that the killings were a matter of tribal tradition.

The BBC’s Barbara Plett in Islamabad says in Pakistan’s conservative countryside it is not uncommon for male relatives to kill women accused of violating family honour.

But the brutality of the murders, and their unexpected defence in the senate, outraged many, our correspondent says.

Bodies ‘dumped’

Police who oversaw the exhumation of the bodies said the two women had bullet wounds and that they had been buried without a shroud.

According to Baloch tribal custom, women killed for “dishonourable acts” are often buried without the white cotton wrap-around shroud.

The two bodies were dumped in the same ditch, police and local sources said.

A senior police officer in Nasirabad district, Shabbir Ahmad Shaikh, told the BBC Urdu service on Monday night that the bodies were recovered from a grave 10km (six miles) from Babakot, the women’s village.

Sources in Dera Murad Jamali, the district headquarters, said the bodies were exhumed on Monday night in the presence of police and doctors.

They said both girls had clearly been shot several times, but there was still no clear evidence of whether they had been buried while still alive.

Police said they had arrested at least six people in connection with the murders, including close relatives of the deceased women.

Reports last month said three women aged 18-20 from the Imrani tribe had run away from their homes in Babakot to get married.

The women were kidnapped by some male relatives from a hotel in Usta Mohammad, in neighbouring Jafferabad district, where they had been hiding, the reports said.

Two older women who tried to help the would-be brides were also allegedly kidnapped.

Inquiry ordered

The Hong Kong-based Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) reported that the women had all been shot, thrown into a ditch and then buried, even though they were still alive.

However, police in Dera Murad Jamali say they have recovered only two bodies.

One official said that if there had been other women, they too would have been buried in the same ditch.

Meanwhile, the interior ministry has ordered a senior police official in Islamabad, Tariq Khosa, to conduct an inquiry into the case.

Mr Khosa is expected to reach Dera Murad Jamali later on Tuesday.

I’m not proud of it but human nature DOES sometimes make us all racist.

I posted a story on this subject yesterday and today in the Mail was another editorial on the subject by Max Hastings.

It’s very much well worth your reading and points out very well the idiocy of the left.  Make NO mistake. They are not just idiots. If they were simply that they wouldn’t be the threat they are.

Under fire: Respected academic George Steiner is in trouble after making comments about having Jamaican neighbours

You may not have heard of George Steiner, but he is one of the cleverest men in Britain.

A professor of comparative literature, 79 years old, his Jewish family emigrated from France in 1940.

He lives and writes in Cambridge. And today he is in deep trouble with the multicultural lobby.

Steiner has made headlines with remarks to a Spanish newspaper, discussing his new novel.

Racism, he said, is inherent in everyone. Racial tolerance is only skin-deep.  ‘It is very easy to sit here in this room and say racism is horrible,’ he told his interviewer.
‘But ask me the same thing if a Jamaican family moved next door with six children and they play reggae and rock music all day.

‘Or if an estate agent comes to my house and tells me that because a Jamaican family has moved next door the value of my property has fallen through the floor. Ask me then!’

The usual suspects - race-relations bodies, Muslim groups, minority spokesmen - have denounced Steiner’s remarks as ‘offensive, cranky, lazy generalisations’.

Yet reading what he said, I found myself remembering a day at Heathrow more than 20 years ago.

A heavenly cockney cleaner named Elsie Elmer worked for our family for almost 40 years. Elsie was a widow, a Londoner through and through.

When she was 77, she suddenly announced that she could no longer endure life in Hammersmith, where on both sides of her little house Jamaican neighbours played music full-blast through the night, every night.

One day, I drove her to the airport to emigrate to Australia, where she had a son living.

She hated to go and wept buckets. But she felt that her street, her city, were no longer the places which she knew and loved.

That is why George Steiner’s words, which have got him into such hot water, struck a powerful chord with me.

He was making the point that it is very easy for us middle-class types, living in our cosy social enclaves with not a black or brown face in sight, to strike noble postures about race and immigration.

Too glibly, we demand from others a tolerance which costs us nothing.

Three years ago, an impeccably liberal study-group published a book entitled The New East End, which sent shockwaves through the race-relations industry.

It described the bitterness of many established white residents in East London towards Bangladeshi newcomers, who were perceived - sometimes justly - as receiving preferential treatment for housing and social services, while introducing values at odds with those of the traditional cockney community.

The book explicitly cited the follies of middle-class liberal politicians and social workers, whose own lives were safely isolated from the consequences, trying to impose make-believe ideals on others.

Nobody sensible could have supposed that the authors of The New East End were a bunch of racists.

They were merely honest researchers, describing the predicament of the white working-class, which perceived itself dispossessed by newcomers of its rights and heritage.

George Steiner is telling the same story. He knows that tribe, identity, matter to all of us.

We want to be good citizens, and most of us are determined to rub along with the new world, in which all manner of people from different cultures have been thrust upon us.  But it is not easy. The fools are those who pretend it is.

Many of us learned at school to cherish our literary and historic heritage - Dickens and Jane Austen, Marlborough, Wellington and Churchill.

There is an inevitable gap between us and those who share no part of that legacy, and in some cases do not want their children to learn to do so.

Watching Shakespeare’s history plays performed, I am a little embarrassed to admit that I struggle to believe in black actors playing Henry V or Richard III, or indeed their courtiers.

This is not, I hope, because I am a bigot, but because I cannot forget that, in the Middle Ages, Britain had no black kings or lords.

Now, the answer to that one is that all dramas, including Shakespeare’s history plays, are fictions which should transcend national cultures.

When I am thinking as a grown-up, I recognise this.

But, in the spirit of Steiner’s remarks, I must admit the need to make an effort to become colour-blind.

I am not proud of saying this - it is just the way most of us are made.

Steiner was perhaps a little careless in his choice of words, in seeming to express indiscriminate scepticism about immigrants.

In truth, I think, we are pretty good at accepting people of any race who adopt the customs and lifestyle of our tribe - which is why race relations among the young in Britain are much better than they might be.

Many of the children of immigrants talk and behave just like their white counterparts, and are accepted on equal terms.

We direct our spleen against those - black, brown, or white - who behave anti-socially.

It is as repugnant to find a white teenage girl lurching drunk down a train as to see a black van-driver deafening whole streets by playing his stereo full-blast with open windows.

Our old daily, Elsie Elmer, did not leave Britain because her new neighbours were black, but because they behaved like beasts.

She would have suffered as much from their music if they had been white.

If they had adopted civilised values - which have nothing to do with class or race, everything to do with decency - she would have died in her London home.

George Steiner must be right - indeed, he expresses a familiar truth about human behaviour - when he suggests that we are most comfortable in the company of others like ourselves.

That does not mean that we expect neighbours and fellow citizens to vote the same way, to like the same music and films, choose the same holidays or favour the same clothes.

We merely want to share a common framework of values and behaviour, and we struggle in the company of those who do not, whatever their colour.

I was talking at the weekend to one of the most sensible pillars of the race-relations industry about the case of Tarique Ghaffur, the assistant commissioner who has denounced the Metropolitan Police for alleged discrimination about his promotion.

My friend said: ‘You must remember that somebody like that goes through his whole career knowing that every time he walks into a room, most of the people in it are not hostile - but they feel a vague sense that he is not like them.’

This does not mean that Ghaffur is the victim of discrimination, simply that his relationships are fractionally different from those among white colleagues.

It is nobody’s fault. It is just tribalism at work, of the kind which has influenced mankind since the beginning of time.

Only in a world where foolish race lobbies try to force multi-culturalism down our throats could its existence be disputed.

Mass immigration is imposing huge pressures on our society, and on the goodwill of its established residents.

What is remarkable is not how badly most people behave in consequence, but how well.George Steiner has stated simple truths, and only the idiot Left could deny their reality.

Google takes fight to Microsoft with Chrome browser launch.

Right ... Maybe you folks already know about this but I only just this minute found it.
Being GREEN (not the envirmnt) when it comes to thing tech, I get all kinds of excited over stuff like this.  That’s mostly cause I understand so little of it and think it’s a new magic trick.  And we almost all like magic, don’t we?

I’m lookin forward to this.  Some of you might be going, yawn.  And Drew knows how to build his own, most likely. Macker too. But the rest of us who still think of our kitchen toasters as hi-tech, we’re goin’ WOW. Huh?

Google has opened up a new front in its increasingly bitter battle with Microsoft by releasing its own web browser.

Read the full web comic introducing Google Chrome
Shane Richmond: Google’s Chrome browser is an attack on Microsoft
The search giant hopes Google Chrome will challenge the dominance of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which is currently used by 75 per cent of surfers.

image

Google’s browser will be available for free download in 100 countries later on Tuesday, a week after the updated Internet Explorer 8 hit the market.

Google claims Chrome will be “clean and fast” and come with technical improvements that will make it more stable and allow it to “run today’s complex web applications much better” than its rivals.

It will also offer more web privacy functions, allowing users to withhold information from the sites they visit, including the Google search engine.

Initially Google Chrome will only work on computers with Microsoft’s Windows operating system, a clear sign that it intends to take on Microsoft on its own territory. Mac and Linux versions will follow later, Google says.

Google has long dominated the search market with nearly two-thirds of all queries, leaving Microsoft’s MSN Search trailing in third place behind Yahoo with around 10 per cent of searches. But the San Francisco firm is now launching an assault on the markets in which Microsoft is strongest.

It has already released free word processing and spreadsheet software, to rival Microsoft’s popular but expensive Word and Excel programmes, and Google Chrome marks the start of its campaign to rule how people navigate the web.

Mozilla’s Firefox, currently Internet Explorer’s largest rival, has managed to claw its way to around 20 per cent of the browser market thanks in part to co-operation with Google, but has never looked like claiming the No 1 spot.

Analysts believe Chrome, backed by the Google brand and supported by other Google services, could quickly become the strongest ever challenger to Internet Explorer’s crown.

“As the starting point for nearly every user’s Internet experience, the browser is important online real estate. The market share gains by Firefox in a short period of time show to us that users are looking for better browser experiences,” said Mark May of Needham & Co.

Other analysts have suggested that Chrome could help protect and promote Google’s other services, such as search and email.

“This gives Google another opportunity to protect its flank and to create a new branding position,’’ said Roger Kay of Endpoint Technologies Associates.

Other browsers – including Firefox, Apple’s Safari, and Opera - could also be threatened by Chrome, although the chief executive of Mozilla said it would continue to co-operate with Google over Firefox.

“On the financial front… we’ve just renewed our economic arrangement with them through November 2011, which means a lot for our ability to continue to invest in Firefox and in new things like mobile and services,” John Lilly wrote on his blog.

Chrome is designed to make it easier to browse the web, in part by making more use of tabs

In response to the Chrome launch, Microsoft released a statement identifying the improved privacy functions of the latest Internet Explorer.

“The browser landscape is highly competitive, but people will choose Internet Explorer 8 for the way it puts the services they want right at their fingertips ... and, more than any other browsing technology, puts them in control of their personal data online,” said Dean Hachamovitch, general manager of Internet Explorer.

Chrome is designed to make it easier and faster to browse the web, by offering enhanced address-bar features and other elements which differ from those on other rival browsers.

The launch announcement was made on Google’s official blog site last night, after a comic introducing some of Chrome’s functions emerged on the internet.

“We believe we can add value for users and, at the same time, help drive innovation on the web,” the statement said.

“The web gets better with more options and innovation. Google Chrome is another option, and we hope it contributes to making the web even better.”

Five women who wanted to pick their own husbands buried alive in mass honour killing.

I don’t think I need to add anything to this.  And surely if it’s true we won’t be surprised.

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 10:16 AM on 02nd September 2008

Five women were buried alive by their tribe in a mass honour killing prompted by their wish to choose their own husbands.

The victims, who included three teenagers, were abducted at gunpoint, beaten and shot before being thrown into a ditch.

They were still breathing as their bodies were covered with rocks and mud, according to media reports and human rights activists.

Tribesmen in Pakistan’s remote Baluchistan province: Five women were buried alive in a mass honour killing (file picture)

The incident occurred in Baba Kot, a remote village in Jafferabad district, after the women decided to defy tribal elders and arrange marriages in a civil court, according to the Asian Human Rights Commission.

They were said to have been abducted at gunpoint by six men, forced into a vehicle and taken to a remote field, where they were beaten, shot and then buried alive, it said, accusing local authorities of trying to hush up the killings.

A Pakistani lawmaker provoked outrage by defending men from the Baluch tribe who had carried out the killings.

Israr Ullah Zehri told stunned members of Pakistan’s parliament: ‘These are centuries-old traditions and I will continue to defend them,’

‘Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid.’

He claimed the tribal traditions helped stop obscenity - and then asked fellow lawmakers not to make a big fuss about it.

Many stood up in protest, saying the executions were ‘barbaric’ and demanding more discussion.

But a handful said it was an internal matter of the deeply conservative province of Baluchistan.

‘I was shocked,’ said lawmaker Nilofar Bakhtiar, who pushed for legislation calling for perpetrators of so-called honour killings to be punished when she served as minister of women’s affairs under the last government.

‘I feel that we’ve gone back to the starting point again,’ she said. ‘It’s really sad for me.’

The incident apparently occurred about a month ago.

Accounts about the killings have varied, largely because police in the tribal region have been uncooperative. Activists and lawmakers said a more thorough investigation needed to be carried out.

The Asian Human Rights Commission, however, said the two older women may have been related to some of the teenage girls and were apparently murdered because they were sympathetic to their wishes.

There have been claims one of the perpetrators was related to a top provincial official.

Politicians too scared to talk about forced marriage ‘in case they lose Muslim votes’

Kinda makes ya wonder just whose side these folks are on. I mean, it can’t be their country.

The last Prime Minister this country had with any, with any .... you know.  Was a woman.  True, she got some things very wrong at the end but the point is she had ,,, well ,,, something her male counter parts lost and haven’t been able to find again.

If there are any Brits passing thru here and reading this, help me out.  When was the last time either a PM or any MP of any note really spoke out in anything but platitudes, on any subject that touched on muslims?

MPs too scared to talk about forced marriage ‘in case they lose Muslim votes’
Politicians are too scared to speak out against forced marriage in case they lose valuable Muslim votes, according to a veteran Labour MP.

Ann Cryer said politicians in areas with high Muslim populations, many of which are Labour heartlands, should be at the forefront of the campaign to stop young couples being made to wed against their will by their families.

But she claimed that some politicians are afraid to speak out on the issue in case they alienate Muslim voters. The forced marriage unit at the Foreign Office deals with an estimated 300 cases every year, most of them involving teenage girls from Pakistani or Bangladeshi families.

Mrs Cryer, who is stepping down as MP for Keighley in West Yorkshire at the next general election, added that local Muslim leaders are not doing enough to encourage integration and accused them of trying to keep immigrants who move to Britain “in the backwoods”.

It comes just days after Gordon Brown praised her “brave” campaign against forced marriage, and said her understanding of her constituency was “second to none”.

Mrs Cryer, 68, said: “There still is a nervousness to talk about this, especially those MPs in constituencies affected by these issues.

“They should be fighting on the front line, but they are the ones keeping quiet on the issue because they don’t want to lose votes.

“Some of the Muslim leaders in my area are doing their communities a disservice and trying to keep them in the backwoods. They don’t seem to have any understanding about the importance of having integration and cohesion, or to promote women to leadership roles in the community.”

Mrs Cryer has been at the forefront of efforts to ban forced marriages and honour killings. A law that she backed, the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act, which will come into effect this month, will help by giving women the right to apply for an injunction in court and prevent a ceremony going ahead. Her campaigning has also led to the Government raising the minimum age for a marriage visa from 18 to 21.

When Mrs Cryer announced her retirement last week, the Prime Minister said: “She knows every inch of her constituency and her understanding of its communities is second to none.

“After encountering a number of forced marriages among her constituents, she mounted a brave campaign to highlight the sometimes appalling mistreatment of women forced to be brides.”

However Mrs Cryer’s claims have been dismissed by Khalid Mahmood, the Muslim Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Barr.

He claimed that MPs would not be so easily swayed by the perceived opinions of their constituents, and pointed out that many politicians supported the war in Iraq despite opposition from Muslim voters.

Mr Mahmood said: “In terms of being scared, I think that’s complete nonsense. Most MPs will speak their minds because that’s what they’re there for and most of them are strong enough characters.

“People do things because they believe in them, not because of this cynical reason. If that was the case, MPs would have stood up against the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.”

He added: “I’ve been adamantly against forced marriage and people have supported me in that. We’ve also got a rigid system with the embassy in Islamabad now and although it is an issue, it’s not an epidemic as Ann sometimes makes it out to be.”

Such An Accident

Blogger who criticized the Kremlin shot dead while in police custody

I think the bear is getting a mite bit too ferocious, don’t you?

The owner of a news website that criticised the Kremlin was shot dead yesterday.  Magomed Yevloyev, who opposed the Russian-backed administration of Ingushetia, was detained by police when he landed at the region’s airport, according to colleagues.  A report from the Russian news agency Interfax said Mr Yevloyev, whose website has survived repeated official attempts to close it down, was shot by accident.

A source was quoted as saying that while officers were transferring him ‘to an interior ministry office, an incident occurred in which Mr Yevloyev received a gunshot wound to the temple area’.

Ingushetia is in the Russian North Caucasus and borders Chechnya and North Ossetia.

Accidentally got capped upside the head. Accidentally?? Yeah, and all the people opposed to Idi Amin accidentally died in bus crashes.

The authorities in the volatile province in southern Russia said Magomed Yevloyev was shot in the head accidentally while resisting arrest, the Paris-based non-governmental organization reported.

According to The Associated Press, the site’s deputy editor Ruslan Khautiyev said that Yevloyev arrived in Ingushetia from Moscow on Sunday on the same plane as regional President Murat Zyazikov. He said the police blocked the jet on the runway after it landed in Ingushetia’s provincial capital, Magas, boarded the plane and took Yevloyev off.

Yevloyev was then whisked away in a car and later dumped at the side of a road with a gunshot wound to the head, he said.

Magomed ... Mohammed? Do we have a case of an islamic activist getting offed here? Or are the New Reds equal opportunity thugs?

An impoverished province with a largely Muslim population, Ingushetiya has suffered for almost a decade from unrest spilling over from neighboring Chechnya.

President Zyazikov’s administration is battling a low-level Islamist insurgency, who launch frequent attacks on Russian servicemen and law enforcement officials.  In response, Russia has launched a counterinsurgency campaign that has been criticized by human rights group for abuses such as arbitrary detentions and extra-judicial executions.

Over the years, Yevloyev had fiercely criticized Zyazikov. Last year, he accused Zyazikov on his Web site of hiring hit-men to kill him, Reporters Without Borders said.

I found a link to a page that tells a very, very different story: the arrest of this guy was carried out using a whole squadron of cops, and a street battle ensued between the cops and Yevloyev’s supporters.

“In a few minutes after the departure of president’s motorcade, another cavalcade of armored cars drove up to the plane – two UAZ cars and four Volgas. Armed to-the-teeth policemen poured out of the cars. Interior Minister Musa Medov was among them. Having seen Magomed Evloev, the policemen went for him to drag into the UAZ,” Khazbiev said.

It was the action-thriller then.

Relatives and friends of Evloev rushed to rescue him, breaking glass doors and pushing away airport guards, to no avail though. The police fired down a few bursts and escaped with Evloev by emergency route.

His body was dumped by the side of the road. Some accident.

Go read the rest.

Dems fling poo faster than monkeys at the zoo, little sticks to Palin

The 17-year-old unwed daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is five-months pregnant, Palin and her husband, Todd Palin, said Monday in a written statement.

John McCain’s newly named running mate confirmed the story after rumors circulated on the Internet that Palin’s 4-month-old son was actually her daughter Bristol’s child.

Such class! Such nuance! Such elegance!

Such a bunch of douchebags. Don’t mention any one of 1000 facts about our guy, but we’ll go after your children in a hearbeat. Pond scum.

Bristol is planning to marry the father of her child.  The baby is due in late December.

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us,” the Palins said in the statement. “Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”

The Palins asked the media to respect their family’s privacy.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”

What, no abortion? Why are this girl’s parents PUNISHING HER for a mistake? The Obamessiah would not do this to his daughters!!

Sarah Palin’s son, Trig, was born in April with Down syndrome. Internet bloggers have been suggesting that the child was actually born to Bristol Palin but that her mother took responsibility to protect her daughter.

Class, I tell ya. Some people just come to it naturally. Other people are Democrats.

But the Palin family travails don’t stop at Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella confirmed Monday that Todd Palin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in 1986 when he was 22. Sarah and Todd Palin, who had been high school sweethearts, were dating at the time.

Sources close to Sarah Palin told the Christian Broadcasting Network that Todd Palin has been “forthcoming about the situation and has indicated that it was a lesson learned from when he was younger.”

Gosh, and I got a $40 ticket when I was 23 for getting caught with some firecrackers. Guess I’d better never run for office! Now watch Todd become a spokesman for alcohol resistance for Native Americans.

Any little bit of dirt they can dig up, any lie they can make up. But don’t you dare question the Obamessiah. Or mention his middle name. Or his scrawny body. Or his big Dumbo ears. Or his domineering wife. Or his marxist background. Or his association with unrepentant terrorists. Or his dirty money cronies. Or anything else.

Democrats. The party of desperation.

recovering slowly

Big holiday party yesterday. Much drinking and eating. More drinking. Lots of people, lots of noise. More drinking. Major traffic on the highways coming and going, and it was a 120 mile drive to get there. I think I’ll have some aspirin and go back to bed again.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
