Quote Of The Day

"People who have what they want are fond of telling people who haven't what they want that they really don't want it."
-- Ogden Nash (1902 - 1971)

On This Day In History

August 12,1908 - The Model T Rolls Off The Assembly Line
Henry Ford's first Model T, affectionately known as the "Tin Lizzie," rolled off the assembly line in Detroit, Michigan. The Model T revolutionized the automotive industry by providing an affordable, reliable car for the average American. Prior to the invention of the Model T, most automobiles were viewed as playthings of the rich. Ford was able to keep the price down by retaining control of all raw materials, as well as his use of new mass production methods. When it was first introduced, the "Tin Lizzie" cost only $850 and seated two people. Though the price fluctuated in the years to come, dipping as low as $290 in 1924, few other changes were ever made to the Model T. Electric lights were introduced in 1915, and an electric starter was introduced as an option in 1919. Eventually, the Model T's design stagnancy cost it its competitive edge, and Ford stopped manufacturing the "Tin Lizzie" in 1927.

August 12, 1961 - East Germany Begins Construction Of The Berlin Wall
In an effort to stem the tide of refugees attempting to leave East Berlin, the communist government of East Germany begins building the Berlin Wall to divide East and West Berlin. Construction of the wall caused a short-term crisis in U.S.-Soviet bloc relations, and the wall itself came to symbolize the Cold War. Throughout the 1950s and into the early 1960s, thousands of people from East Berlin crossed over into West Berlin to reunite with families and escape communist repression. In an effort to stop that outflow, the government of East Germany, on the night of August 12, 1961, began to seal off all points of entrance into West Berlin from East Berlin by stringing barbed wire and posting sentries. In the days and weeks to come, construction of a concrete block wall began, complete with sentry towers and minefields around it. The Berlin Wall succeeded in completely sealing off the two sections of Berlin. The U.S. government responded angrily. Commanders of U.S. troops in West Berlin even began to make plans to bulldoze the wall, but gave up on the idea when the Soviets moved armored units into position to protect it. The West German government was furious with America's lack of action, but President John F. Kennedy believed that "A wall is a hell of a lot better than a war." In an attempt to reassure the West Germans that the United States was not abandoning them, however, Kennedy traveled to the Berlin Wall in June 1963, and famously declared, "Ich bin ein Berliner!" ("I am a Berliner!").

August 12, 1981 - IBM Introduces The Personal Computer
By the early 1980s, the computer had shrunk from being a room-clogging behemoth to a relatively dainty machine that could fit on desks in homes and schools. So, IBM's introduction of its Personal Computer (PC) on August 12, 1981, didn't exactly signal a technical revolution. But that didn't stop Big Blue's PC from bursting onto the scene. Their new product sold 136,000 units in its first year and a half of release, propelling the company's stock on an upward climb that peaked later in the decade. IBM had seemingly served notice to the computer industry: the granddaddy of business computing was making a break from the boardroom and looking to conquer America's homes. Not as widely noticed was the fact that IBM's new machine was a pastiche of other company's components, including a processing chip courtesy of Intel and an operating system developed by a thirty-two person concern called Microsoft. Eventually, IBM would not only be relying on other company's technology, but would be chasing them for profits. Though recent years have been a touch kinder to the company, the early 1990s saw IBM posting annual losses that sometimes ballooned up to $8 million.

Public Service Announcement

Look at the map below. If you live in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina or Virginia, this would be a great weekend to take that last minute summer vacation .... TO COLORADO!

This has been a public service announcement of the BMEWS Weather Bureau. Row, row your boat .. gently down the stream ....

Vilmar has promised to stand outside in the rain and thunder and lightning and high winds and practice his primal scream therapy. I told him it wouldn't work. The Democrats will still be here after the storm passes. Ain't that a shame?

Me, I'm snug as a bug in a rug way up here in the North Alabama mountain country. He-he-he ....

By my reckoning, Charlotte, NC should be ground zero for about 48 hours, starting Friday morning.

Note: Why the f**k couldn't the National Weather Service have chosen Clyde as the "C"-named storm this year? Get it? Bonnie and Clyde? Never mind ....

FREAKY!!!  FREAKY!! FREAKY!!

Talk about becoming one with something.

This story is TRULY disgusting.

A 600 pound woman who authorities believed had not moved off her couch for about 5 years had to be taken to the hospital, couch and all, because she'd become attached to it. Seems her body just had become one with the couch over the years.

Yeah, she died on the operating table even after being surgically removed from it.

NASTY!

Makes you wonder where her family was in all this. The place stank to high heaven so how did she get her food? Didn't anyone get a clue what was happening?

I'm glad you asked .... it's called MoveOnPlease.Org.

The top headline of the day: Everything Bad Fault Of Rumsfield

And then it gets really hilarious. Go see it now. Before the Democrats file a law suit ....

Is the State Right or Wrong?

Here's a chance for more of you to sound off.

I'll be right up front: as far as I am concerned, I see nothing wrong with what the state did in these cases. Call me crazy but......... Anyway, here goes:

You've all heard of forfeiture by foreclosure for not paying taxes, right? Well, some people in NY are pissed off that the state not only took their property but when they sold it, made money on it! BOO HOO!!!

Before you get all hot and bothered, read the article carefully. You'll see the state INITIATES these actions after 3 (THREE) years of non-payment. They then send registered letters and for the next 2 years allow the homeowner to make restitution. Then, and only then, after those 2 MORE YEARS, is the home sold.

Some of you may still be upset at this and think the state should not foreclose but read to see how many people BOUGHT their homes back at the foreclosure auction!

So let me see if I understand this. For all those years they did not have 10 or 20 or 30 thousand dollars in fees, taxes, penalties but all of a sudden they were able to get their hands on several HUNDRED thousand dollars seemingly all at once?

BULLSHIT!!!!

To add insult to injury, activist groups want the state to provide counseling and "safety nets" for the delinquent homeowners. WHAT?!?! So now we give assistance to people who are capable enough to have bought a house but are deemed incapable of keeping it? And we reward this bad behavior with "rights groups" demanding training and counseling? FUCK 'EM!

Yep, there will be a few that slip through the cracks but you know, life is not fair. Maybe reading something like this will cause people to become a bit closer to their families and watch over grandma and grandpa to make sure they are OK.

One last thing: a lot of times these houses are sold and make a huge profit and have lots of equity built into them. The foreclosed owners are crying that they deserve that money. I do not think so. But if it were up to me, I would peg the value of the home at what it was worth the first year they failed to make payments with anything above and beyond that going to the state PLUS the homeowner not only pays the fines, fees, penalties, back taxes, etc. but would also be on the hook for state and county expenses in selling the home. PLUS I would place a hold on any disbursed monies to the homeowner contingent on the outcome of a report detailing whether these people owed anyone else any money (credit cards, auto loans, etc.) If they owed anyone ANYTHING, those bills get paid first to preclude the owner from filing for bankruptcy immediately afterwards and skipping out on payments.

Think about it: you live in an area where the home is worth $150000 today and you have $5,000 in equity in it. You then stop paying taxes. Following current established procedures, the state can't sell it for 5.5 years from today. In the meantime, a boom takes place and your house goes up to $400,000 in value (it's not unusual and is happening in Florida right now)

So explain to me why should you pocket almost $200,000 (after fines, etc.) just because you're a fuck-up?

Spy Games

President Bush yesterday announced the nomination of Porter Goss to head the CIA. Porter Goss is currently a Congressman (R-FL) and head of the House Intelligence Committee. He is also a former CIA field agent.

AP just reported on his nomination with the following headline "CIA Pick Goss Faces Tough Confirmation".

Hmmmm. Interesting headline, eh? Go back and read the first paragraph above. Goss is (1) head of the Congressional Committee that oversees intelligence and (2) is a former CIA field agent. You would think that would make him the most qualified man in the country to head the CIA, right?

Wrong! The Democrats are up in arms because (1) he is a Republican and (2) he is from Florida. They are accusing President Bush of (a) being partisan by selecting a Republican and (b) trying to make sure he gets Florida's electoral votes in November.

Have you ever heard such blatant, partisan, political bullshit? Here is what Nancy Pelosi had to say:
"You must keep the politics out of intelligence," said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California. "I'm not sure that has been done here."
Why not, Nancy? You and your party have made damn sure that intelligence is being kept out of politics, why not vice versa? Finally, Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) had this insanely stupid statement:
"The selection of a politician — any politician from either party — is a mistake," said Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. "Having independent, objective intelligence going to the president and the Congress is fundamental to America's national security."
Need I remind Senator Rockefeller that the CIA Headquarters in Langley is named "The George H. W. Bush Center"? That it is named after a fine head of CIA who was a congressman before before nominated to the post of DCI? That he did a fine job as head of CIA and later became Vice President and eventually President .... without damaging the CIA, the country or practicing partisan politics while he was DCI?

Democrats are also saying President Bush should wait until after the November elections to allow the next president to appoint the DCI. Well, let's think about that for a minute. John Kerry has already made statements that the President should not drag his feet on the findings of the 9/11 Commission and that if he were President, he would act on it right away. So it looks like the Democrats are actually just trying to box President Bush in. They don't want to rush into getting a new head of CIA but will pillory Bush if he doesn't move quickly.

Once again, folks .... pay attention to the bullshit games going on from the Democrats. There's not an honest man or woman in the bunch. And they sure don't know jack shit about intelligence, having none of their own.

On the Heelz of Nealz’ Reasonz

Hopefully you've read the piece below which Neal Boortz penned yesterday.

Now take a look at Michelle Malkin's 5 reasons to fear the Democratic Party. She discusses Ted "FatFuck" Kennedy, the ACLU, professional grievance mongers like the NAACP and CAIR, the open borders lobby and 1st Amendment fetishists.

As usual, she does a fine job of putting all these together cogently. The very safety of our country and its borders are at stake.

Should We Be Afraid of John Kerry?

I got this from Neal Boortz's site yesterday and you can find it in his archives here.

I could comment on it but I would add nothing substantive to what's been written. He covers many points and they are all worth setting to memory. So I will let the master use his own words:

WHY I'M AFRAID OF JOHN KERRY

There's plenty of time in the weeks to come to expand on this, but here are just a few of the reasons, presented in Cliff Notes form, of why John Kerry scares me:

Sovereignty I'll make this number one. We all know that John Kerry changes positions to make the maximum appeal to voters at any particular point in time. When Kerry was NOT trying to appeal to voters he said that U.S. troops should not be deployed overseas without the "permission" of the United Nations. Just how much power would Kerry give the UN over our decisions on national defense? How much would Kerry give up to the European Union in order to gain the "popularity" he so desires over there.

Terrorism: You may believe differently, but I believe that the Islamic terrorists would prefer Kerry in office. I think that they see him as weaker than George Bush. Well, so do I.

Consistency: John Kerry hammers home the fact that he would have formed an international coalition to dispose of Saddam. Well, when George Bush 41 formed just such a coalition to get Saddam out of Kuwait, Kerry voted "no." When George Bush 43 formed a somewhat smaller coalition to get Saddam out of Iraq, Kerry voted "yes." Someone make sense out of this for me please.

Social Security: Face it, the system is a disaster. Kerry wants to continue the present course. Bush has this wild-eyed idea that your money should be placed into an account with your name on it ... and account that you can exercise some control over. 'Nuff said.

Socialized Medicine: OK, it's probably inevitable, given the cowardice of the American people ... but I want to stall it off as long as possible. Kerry's medical care spending plans total over one trillion dollars over the next ten years. We can't afford it without even more confiscatory taxes.

Higher taxes: Kerry has pledged to raise taxes on "the rich." The problem here is that the rich folks that Kerry is talking about, families with incomes higher than $200,000 a year, are the very people who own Americas small business jobs machine. Increased taxes on these people are jobs killers. (Vilmar note: the key here is "FAMILY" income---you do the math to see who ends up getting screwed!.)

More government: Kerry is a typical Democrat. He believes America is great because of government, and the way to make America even greater is to expand that government. OK, so Bush isn't much better in this regard, but I would rather give Bush a second term to correct the error of his ways than to give Kerry a fresh start for eight years to make the burden of big-government even greater.

His record: Kerry's entire presidential campaign is based on four short months in Vietnam. Four months in Vietnam, 20 years in the United States Senate. What did he accomplish in those 20 years? Answer? Nothing. And that's the record he's running on?

“Feel-Good” Education

I fear for the future of this nation when I see stuff like this occurring in our public school systems.

In California (of course) they are considering passing a law EXPELLING!! (not suspending or giving detention to) kids who "reject" one another! Oh, it gets worse! If you speak badly about the kid (even if it is true) you can get expelled.

The scenario:

Little 13 year old Juanito is sitting there in the recess yard (sitting because they took away all the swings, see-saws and merry-go-around for fear he'd hurt himself and took away the balls because he might want to play "dodge-ball" which can be hurtful to other students) anyway, he's sitting there talking about Tammy (whose mother is a crack whore, her father a pimp, and her sisters welfare queens) and tells his pal, Shaquille, this information. Hey, Juanito lives next door to Tammy's family. He ought to know.

A teacher overhears and Juanito is EXPELLED! Forever forbidden to return because he told the truth.

It gets better. If Juanito hangs out with Shaquille and Tammy in a little clique and Roscoe, the fat kid who never bathes, wants to join in and they refuse, they are ALL EXPELLED for making Roscoe fell bad about himself.

Can it possibly get any worse in our educational system? What are these people trying to do? Raise a bunch of emotionally neutered people so fearful of displaying normal human characteristics and so fearful of speaking the truth they internalize it all and then later in life all explode in a fury of violent crimes to vent their bottled up frustrations?

It's supposed to be voted on today. If I can find updates I will post them.

Being eternally cynical and pessimistic I predict that even if this fails in its current form it will set the precedent for further attempts by different schools who will learn after-the-fact what they can do to word it such that they can circumvent the will of protesting parents

Bizarre-o Wednesday

Want to make a scary movie? Remember sitting in math class and having to learn algebra? Remember telling the teacher, "I'll NEVER need to use this in REAL LIFE!"

Well, boopsie, now you do.

Sure to win the next Cannes Festival I am certain. Yep, a film spoofing Californicator's dependence on illegal immigrant labor. The premise? One day Californicators awake to find all Mexicans gone. Trash piles up, gardens go to waste, cars stay unwashed. Evil capitalists look helpless.

The ending? They all return and show their love and admiration for the "desaparecidos."

What a load of SHIT! Hell, if I had my way I'd make them ALL disappear (the ILLEGALS!!) and we'd soon find all manner of people who'd do the things they did. Plus market forces would NOT allow crazy spikes in food costs, service costs, etc. If you've been told different you've failed Economics 101.

Soon as I saw the headlines I KNEW the sex of the subjects talked about. Gotta wonder if it was done on purpose.

Quote Of The Day

"The thing that impresses me the most about America is the way parents obey their children."
-- King Edward VIII (1894 - 1972)

On This Day In History

August 11,1965 - Watts Riots Begin In Los Angeles
In the predominantly black Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, racial tension reaches a breaking point after two white policemen scuffle with a black motorist suspected of drunken driving. A crowd of spectators gathered near the corner of Avalon Boulevard and 116th Street to watch the arrest and soon grew angry by what they believed to be yet another incident of racially motivated abuse by the police. A riot soon began, spurred on by residents of Watts who were embittered after years of economic and political isolation. The rioters eventually ranged over a 50-square-mile area of South Central Los Angeles, looting stores, torching buildings, and beating whites as snipers fired at police and firefighters. Finally, with the assistance of thousands of National Guardsmen, order was restored on August 16.

The five days of violence left 34 dead, 1,032 injured, nearly 4,000 arrested, and $40 million worth of property destroyed. The Watts riot was the worst urban riot in 20 years and foreshadowed the many rebellions to occur in ensuing years in Detroit, Newark, and other American cities.

August 11,1966 - The Camaro's Debut
The first Chevy Camaro drove out of the manufacturing plant in Norwood, Ohio, on this day in 1966. The 1967 Camaro coupe was named just weeks before production; General Manager Elliot Estes, when publicly announcing the name, quipped, "I went into a closet, shut the door and came out with the name." Camaro is actually French for "comrade, pal, or chum." The Camaro was a hit with the public, sporting a base price of only $2,466 for a six-cylinder engine and three-speed manual transmission.

About Friggin’ Time

Sometimes you've got to take your victories in small doses.

This is a step in the right direction and may be of some benefit in stemming the illegal immigrant tide coming to the US.

Later this month the border agents for the INS will have permission to boot these fuckers out without having to run them past a judge.

HOORAY!!

Advocates Anti-American bed-wetting liberal communists say these illegals merit special considerations and that:
"mistakes would be made when border agents decide who will be deported and who will not, often in the vast, inhospitable plains of the southern deserts"

The only comment I have to make as to that concern if it does happen is...............SO WHAT?

It is illegal. They know it. They willingly broke a law. They got caught. And ultimately they must take responsibility for those actions.

A Woman After My Own Heart

You know, some days there is so much stuff out there you just do not know what to put out first. I wanted to post this yesterday but got overcome by events.

The Babe in the Bunker kicks some serious ass. It's one thing for me to say, "kill 'em all and let God sort them out." Not too many people pay attention and those that do think I am half-crazy anyway.

But when Barbara Simpson does it, hundreds of thousands of people read what she says. Maybe some will take notice what IS being said:

Basically what I've been saying for years say: these asshole terrorists are nothing but vermin and like vermin we should exterminate them. No questions. No mercy. Catch them. Kill them. Except I go a step further. Hunt down their families and kill them, too. Unmercifully. Remorselessly.

Read what sounds like music to my ears:

Our house is infested with rats and termites. Our house is our country, the United States of America. The vermin are terrorists.

Sorry, I don't cut them any slack. They should be caught and shot.

She then refers to those who aid and abet terrorists in the US thusly:
"They are fellow American citizens who aid and abet terrorists. They are equally dangerous and guilty, and should also be caught and shot."

You know, stuff like that makes me wish for the legality of polygamy. I'd marry this woman right now! And if polygamy were legal I'd also be married to Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter. (yeah, I know, they'd not marry me but, hey, this is my daydream. Butt out!)

She then goes on to laundry lists all the recent incidents around the world (arrests, indictments illegals, groups that assist illegals, etc.) and wonders where the Democratic party is in all this.

How to Spot a Democrat

If ever you wanted to get a true measure of a Democrat and to better understand the way they think, read these two pieces by Dennis Prager.

The first one discusses his observations of Dummycrap reaction to a 12 year old girl pontificating about how poorly a job Dick Cheney performs as Vice President. Mr. Prager basically states the following:
(that Democrats) frequently treat and regard children as adults and frequently treat and regard adults as children.

(that) liberals do not generally want children to call adults "Mr." or "Mrs." Such titles render adults distinct from children.

(that) liberal teachers often dress and talk similarly to their students and ask to be called by their first names.

(that) liberals led the fight to lower the voting age to 18 and why California Democrats are now seeking to lower it further (as low as 14).

(that) liberal educators worked to enable students to design college curricula.

(that) liberals don't worry about protecting children's innocence as much as conservatives do.

(that) the politicization of children is no more a problem to most Democrats and liberals than is children's sexualization.

and finally,
(that liberals) don't worry about protecting children's innocence as much as conservatives do. The early sexualization of children is therefore not a problem to liberal educators.

The bombshell was this one:
Of course, this girl has accomplished nothing compared to Dick Cheney. She has no wisdom, no humility and no knowledge beyond the leftist platitudes spoon-fed by her parents and schools. She is a mere child, more foolish than most, in that she actually thinks she has earned the right to publicly ridicule the vice president of the United States. The Democratic Party is as shameless as it is immature.

In a follow-up article he goes on to describe the range and nature of the "hate email " he received from those self-same Dummycraps.

Basically it boiled down to people telling him to go fuck himself, that he was pathetic for picking on a little girl, and to blow it out his ass. Nice, eh?

He blasts back at his critics with these gems:
why should a 12-year-old girl be immune from adult criticism? Because of her age? This objection is staggering in its inversion of traditional wisdom, which held that it is 12-year-olds who generally need to hold their tongues before they criticize, let alone ridicule, an adult; and that it is adults' role to criticize the young so as to make them responsible adults.

note the double standard invoked here. A 12-year-old girl should be invited to speak at a national political convention and be taken seriously when she speaks -- but criticizing her is out of bounds because she is 12! This line of thinking reinforced my contention that the Democrats hid behind a 12-year-old girl because they did not have the courage to attack Vice President Cheney themselves. (emphasis mine)

He then also says,
In the feminist world in which liberals live, liberal girls and women of any age are immune from criticism, especially from men.

And the coup de grace:
Childhood is the time to be a child and to be imbued with the values that will enable one to be a politically wise adult. I have enormous interest in speaking with children, but I have little interest in their political views.

PLEASE read these. It will well be worth your while.

What an absolute load of rubbish!

Do you know what the solution to terror is? According to Benazir Bhutto, former prime minister of Pakistan, it is the elimination of poverty.

She rants and raves about how CEOs make so much money, that people are poor and oppressed, that big business is responsible.

What this asshole does not realize is that the people LEADING the terrorists are NOT poor. And the goal of terrorists is to keep people poor in order to keep them ignorant and subjugated. Look at the Palestinians. Three quarters of those fuckers are unemployed. Why? Because terrorists leaders keep that area of the world so unstable nothing can bloom there--neither plants, nor flowers, nor industry, nor jobs.

The western world can not do anything to ameliorate that situation until terrorists are wiped out. Period. Then and only then can the process of improving people's lives continue.

But then again, what do you expect from people in that part of the world anyway? And why the hell does she not give up her wealth to jump start the process in her own country? Oh, that's right! A good socialist never acts alone and to do so would contravene what the word "socialist" means. Therefore everyone else must do so before she does (kinda like a good will gesture, eh?)

Is it any wonder we have the immigration mess we do?

Check out what John Lehman, from the 9-11 commission, has to say about what some of our cities are doing as it relates to illegal immigrants:

"It is ridiculous that five cities in the United States do not allow local police to cooperate with the federal immigration service,"

Yep, you read it right. Cities actually PROHIBIT their police forces from dealing with the feds when it comes to illegals.

Two of the cities? Houston and LA!! AW!! come on! They don't have an illegals problem there, do they? THAT'S why the cops there don't chat with the feds. Yeah, that's it! No illegals in either of them.

Talk about patronizing the criminal element!
