Out Of Control In Paris

Now the MOOS-lim rioters in Paris are setting fire to little old ladies. Handicapped, no less. It’s time for the gendarmes to start firing real bullets. Fire at will, Jacques (if you have any balls left, mon ami)! Open season. No bag limit ....

A woman on crutches was doused in flammable liquid and set on fire earlier this week as she tried to get off a bus in a Paris suburb, a judicial official said Friday. She suffered severe burns.

In the eastern city of Dijon, teens apparently angered by a police crackdown on drug trafficking in their neighborhood set fire to five cars, said Paul Ronciere, the region’s top government official.

Another 11 cars were burned at a housing project in Salon-de-Provence, near the southern city of Marseille, police said. Overnight in the Paris region, at least 520 cars were set ablaze, up from previous nights, the Interior Ministry said. It said five police were slightly injured by thrown stones or bottles.

Khadaffi Duck Jails Blogger

Freedom of speech in the Arab world? Get real! Folks, the governments of the Middle East don’t know how to conduct business in a free and open society. All they know is fascism. Islamofascism, if you want to be entirely correct. It’s amazing to me that the groups in America who benefit the most from free speech and even abuse it are the ones who are violently against our attempts to bring freedom and democracy to that backward region. Don’t even get me started on the women’s rights groups who don’t give a rat’s a** about their female counterparts who live under outright slavery and oppression, all according to Islamic “laws”. Bah!

Libya Reportedly Puts Blogger in Prison
CAIRO, Egypt (AP)

Libya has sent to prison for 18 months a blogger who criticized the government on the Internet, Human Rights Watch says in a report that inspired a series of Web tributes to the dissident Friday. A Tripoli court convicted Abdel Raziq al-Mansuri of illegal possession of a handgun and sentenced him to 18 months’ imprisonment on Oct. 19, the New York-based rights group said in an e-mail to The Associated Press in Cairo.

“The gun charges are a ruse,” said the Middle Eastern director of HRW, Sarah Leah Whitson. “The authorities went after al-Mansuri because they did not like what he wrote.” Al-Mansuri, 52, was detained in Tobruk, his hometown, in January after publishing about 50 articles critical of Libyan society and government on a dissident Web site based in Britain, http://www.akhbar-libya.com, the rights group said Thursday.

Libyan government officials were not available for comment Friday as the country was celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday that follows the holy month of Ramadan. The rights group, who visited al-Mansuri in Tripoli’s Abu Selim prison on May 5, said his family published the outcome of his trial in an Oct. 27 letter to the government, media and rights organizations that condemned al-Mansuri’s detention and sentence.

“Such outspoken criticism is rare in Libya,” said Human Rights Watch. Politics has been tightly controlled in the country since Col. Moammar Gadhafi seized power in 1969. The letter said the authorities had asked family members to denounce al-Mansuri as mentally deranged.

“If defending the right to free speech, and asking for basic human rights is insane in our country, then welcome to a family that is, from its oldest to its youngest, insane,” the letter said, according to Human Rights Watch. The letter added that in sentencing al-Mansuri, the court had refused to give him credit for the months in detention he had already served.

The rights group said that after detaining al-Mansuri, Libyan security officials searched his home and “found an old pistol that belonged to his father.” The group reported the head of the Internal Security Agency, Col. Tuhami Khaled, as denying that al-Mansuri was arrested for his Internet writings.

“He was arrested because he had a gun without a license,” the group quoted Khaled as telling its representatives in May. Asked why the Internal Security Agency was detaining al-Mansuri instead of the police, Khaled replied that the pistol was “a job for internal security,” the group said.

British Judge Apologizes To Muslim Criminal

Unbelievable! Does anyone have any idea what is happening in Europe nowadays? The MOOS-lims are burning Paris to the ground, shooting at cops and in Britain, a judge apologizes to a MOOS-lim terrorist for scheduling his trial date on a Muslim holy day!!!! Kick that judge off the bench and shoot the MOOS-lim. DAMMITALL!! When the revolution comes and I’me declared president for life, we’re gonna straighten out a whole lot of these Muzzi ragheads and the Liberal appeasers. Yes, sir! Up against the wall!! BANG! BANG!

Judge Apologizes for Muslim Holiday Order
LONDON (AP)

A British judge apologized Thursday to a suspected Islamic militant ordered to appear in court for an extradition hearing on one of the Muslim calendar’s holiest days. Haroon Rashid Aswat, 31, is accused of trying to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon, and the U.S. government is seeking his extradition. He appeared in London’s Bow Street Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for the first day of the hearing.

“It is the most important day of my religion today—Eid,” Aswat told Judge Timothy Workman, referring to the festival of Eid al-Fitr that ends a month of fasting during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

“For me it is not a problem,” he told the judge. “I can understand it is about technical difficulties. But for these people doing these bombings in this country, they are very simpleminded—they take it as an insult.

Workman apologized for the timing of the appearance, saying: “If I had known we would have picked a different day.”

U.S. lawyer Clair Dobbin said Washington was seeking extradition in relation to “conduct which took place between October 1999 and the early stages of 2000, which involved the setting-up of a jihad training camp in Bly, Oregon.”

Aswat’s case was adjourned until Nov. 24.

Paris Is Still Burning One Week Later

One week later and the MOOS-lims are trying their best to burn Paris down around their ears. The French are finally reaping the fruits of their integration experiment. Key quote below: “If French society accepts these tinderboxes in its society, it cannot be surprised when they explode”.

imageimageParis Riots Hit One Week
CLICHY-SOUS-BOIS, France (FOX NEWS)

Menacing youths smoked cigarettes in doorways Wednesday and hulks of burned cars littered the tough streets of Paris’ northeastern suburbs scarred by a week of riots that left residents on edge and sent the government into crisis mode.

In a seventh consecutive night of skirmishes, young people threw rocks at police Wednesday in six suburbs in the Seine-Saint-Denis region north of Paris — about a 40-minute drive from the Eiffel Tower. In one of them, Le Blanc-Mesnil, about a dozen cars burned and curious residents, some in slippers and bathrobes, poured into the streets.

Some said the unrest — sparked by the accidental deaths of two teenagers last week — is an expression of frustration over grinding unemployment and police harassment in the communities, where many North African immigrants live. “It is not going to end. It is going to explode,” said an 18-year-old who would only give his name as Amine.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin and Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy (search) both canceled trips abroad to deal with the unrest. “The government is entirely mobilized. Its immediate priority is to restore public order, and restore it without delay,” de Villepin said.

Muslim leaders at Clichy-sous-Bois’ mosque, meanwhile, prayed for peace and asked parents to keep teenagers off the streets after skirmishes broke out after two teenage boys were electrocuted last Thursday while hiding in a power substation because they believed police were chasing them.

The unrest spread to at least nine Paris-region towns overnight Tuesday, exposing the despair, anger and criminality in France’s poor suburbs — fertile terrain for Islamic extremists, drug dealers and racketeers.

The violence, concentrated in neighborhoods with large African and Muslim populations, has highlighted the difficulties many European nations face with immigrant communities feeling marginalized and restive, cut off from the continent’s prosperity and, for some extremists, its values, too.

“They have no work. They have nothing to do. Put yourself in their place,” said Abderrahmane Bouhout, president of the Clichy-sous-Bois mosque, where a tear gas grenade exploded Sunday evening. Local youths suspected a police attack, and authorities are investigating.

The violence cast doubt on the success of France’s model of seeking to integrate its large immigrant community — its Muslim population, at an estimated 5 million, is Western Europe’s largest — by playing down differences between ethnic groups. But rather than be embraced as full and equal citizens, immigrants and their French-born children often complain of police harassment and of being refused jobs, housing and opportunities.

“If French society accepts these tinderboxes in its society, it cannot be surprised when they explode,” said Claude Dilain, the Socialist mayor of the Clichy-sous-Bois suburb.

Totally Unreal News Story

Did you think the Mad Mullahs were the only ones that were barking mad in Iran? Think again. This news story has more barking madness, per word, than anything I’ve read in hundreds of years. Nuking Iran would be doing them a favor. These idjits need to be put out of their misery ....

Iranian Kills Woman When She Proposes
TEHERAN (Reuters)

A 52-year-old Iranian has been sentenced to death for killing his 70-year-old lover when she asked to marry him, a newspaper reported Monday. A court report in the Etemad daily said a taxi driver, identified only as Hamidreza, became furious when his elderly lover Setareh proposed marriage.

“I went to her house and she said she had deep feelings for me and suggested we get married,” he told the court. Hamidreza explained he already had a wife and children. “She then got frustrated and slapped me,” he said.

The man knocked her unconscious and suffocated her with bed-sheets before making off with her jewelry.

Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!

Key quote below: “the resolution was adopted under Chapter VII of the U.N. Charter, which is militarily enforceable”. Even the French (in the form of Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy) are actually showing a little intestinal fortitude over this one (see below). Brazil, China and Russia are sleazing out but it looks like the heat is on for Bashir Assad and the Syrian government (which, by the way, has been funneling foreign insurgents into Iraq for over a year now). Besides, I just don’t like Assad’s looks. The guy is a former eye doctor as well as just plain looking like a wanker ....

imageimageU.N. Security Council OKs Syria Resolution
NEW YORK (AP)

The U.N. Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution Monday demanding Syria’s full cooperation with a U.N. investigation into the assassination of Lebanon’s former prime minister and warning of possible “further action” if it doesn’t. The United States, France and Britain pressed for the resolution following last week’s tough report by the U.N. investigating commission, which implicated top Syrian and Lebanese security officials in the Feb. 14 bombing that killed Rafik Hariri and 20 others. The report also accused Syria of not cooperating fully with the inquiry.

The three co-sponsors agreed to drop a direct threat of sanctions against Syria in order to get support from Russia and China, which opposed sanctions while the investigation is still under way. Nonetheless, the resolution was adopted under Chapter VII of the U.N. Charter, which is militarily enforceable. The resolution requires Syria to detain anyone the U.N. investigators consider a suspect and let investigators determine the location and conditions under which the individual would be questioned. It also would freeze assets and impose a travel ban on anyone identified as a suspect by the commission.

Those provisions could pose a problem for Syrian President Bashar Assad, as well as his brother, Maher Assad, and his brother-in-law, Assef Shawkat, the chief of military intelligence. The Syrian leader has refused a request from the chief U.N. investigator to be interviewed. Investigators also want to question his brother and brother-in-law. The U.S. invited foreign ministers of the 15 Security Council nations to attend the meeting to send a strong message to Syria to cooperate with the inquiry, and a dozen ministers showed up, including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and ministers from Russia, China, Britain and France.

Rice told the council that Syria had been put on notice by the international community that it must cooperate with the inquiry by German prosecutor Detlev Mehlis. “With our decision today, we show that Syria has isolated itself from the international community—through its false statements, its support for terrorism, its interference in the affairs of its neighbors, and its destabilizing behavior in the Middle East,” Rice said. “Now, the Syrian government must make a strategic decision to fundamentally change its behavior.”

“The Chapter VII resolution that we are passing today is the only way to compel the Syrian government to accept the just demands of the United Nations and to cooperate fully with the Mehlis investigation,” she said. British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said the Security Council is “putting the government of Syria on notice that our patience has limits.” “The people of the Lebanon have become all too acquainted with grief,” he said. “We owe them a better future, and this resolution is one way of providing them with that better future.”

France’s Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy stressed that the resolution has one aim: “the truth, the whole truth about Rafik Hariri’s assassination in order that those responsible for it answer for their crime.” By adopting the resolution, he said, the council showed solidarity with Lebanon, support for the Mehlis commission’s work which has been extended until Dec. 15, and demanded “firm and urgent cooperation” from Syria. Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa, who flew to New York to attend the council meeting, listened to minister after minister demand his government’s cooperation. Several noted Damascus’ recent promises to cooperate.

Assad on Saturday ordered that a judicial committee be formed to investigate Hariri’s assassination. A presidential decree said the committee will cooperate with the U.N. probe and Lebanese judicial authorities. Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, whose country has large Lebanese and Syrian communities, made clear that any further action against Syria would require Security Council approval. “Brazil will not favor hasty decisions that may lead to an undesirable escalation of the situation or further endanger the stability of the region,” he said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the resolution was useful because it showed the council’s determination to discover the truth behind Hariri’s assassination. “The final text of the resolution, of course, is not ideal,” he said. Russia said last week it opposed sanctions against Syria, its longtime ally. Late Sunday, Lavrov criticized what he described as attempts to turn the Security Council into an investigative body, in comments broadcast by Russia’s Channel One television. Although the final text dropped the threat of sanctions, it said if Syria doesn’t cooperate “the council, if necessary, could consider further action.” That could, ultimately, include sanctions.

Football Fatwa

According to the UK Guardian, a Fatwah has been issued regarding how MOOS-lims should enjoy the sport of football. Feel free to add your own “rules” to this blatant bulls**t ....

1. International terminology that heretics use, such as “foul,” “penalty”, “corner,” “goal”, “out” and others, should be abandoned and not said. Whoever says them should be punished and ejected from the game.

2. Do not call “foul” and stop the game if someone falls and sprains a hand or foot or the ball touches his hand, and do not give a yellow or red card to whoever was responsible for the injury or tackle. Instead, it should be adjudicated according to Sharia rulings concerning broken bones and injuries.

3. Do not follow the heretics, the Jews, the Christians and especially evil America regarding the number of players. Do not play with 11 people. Add to this number or decrease it.

4. Play in your regular clothes or your pyjamas or something like that, but not coloured shorts and numbered T-shirts, because shorts and T-shirts are not Muslim clothing. Rather, they are heretical and western clothing, so beware of imitating their fashion.

5. If you have fulfilled these conditions and intend to play soccer, play to strengthen the body in order better to struggle in the way of God on high and to prepare the body for when it is called to jihad. Soccer is not for passing time or the thrill of so-called victory.

6. Do not play in two halves. Rather, play in one half or three halves in order to completely differentiate yourselves from the heretics, the corrupted and the disobedient.

7. If neither of you beats the other, or “wins”, as it is called, and neither puts the leather between the posts, do not add extra time or penalties. Instead leave the field, because winning with extra time and penalty kicks is the pinnacle of imitating heretics and international rules.

8. Young crowds should not gather to watch when you play because if you are there for the sake of sports and strengthening your bodies as you claimed, why would people watch you? You should make them join your physical fitness and jihad preparation, or you should say: “Go proselytise and seek out morally reprehensible acts in the markets and the press and leave us to our physical fitness.”

9. You should spit in the face of whoever puts the ball between the posts or uprights and then runs in order to get his friends to follow him and hug him like players in America or France do, and you should punish him, for what is the relationship between celebrating, hugging and kissing and the sports that you are practising?

10. You should use two posts instead of three pieces of wood or steel that you erect in order to put the ball between them, meaning that you should remove the crossbar in order not to imitate the heretics and in order to be entirely distinct from the soccer system’s despotic international rules.

11. Do not do what is called “substitution,” that is, taking the place of someone who has fallen, because this is a practice of the heretics in America and elsewhere.

Guess Who?

Guess who was behind the recent bombings in a crowded marketplace in New Delhi, India that killed 59 people and wounded hundreds of others? Take a guess from the list below and then read the article to see if you guessed correctly ....

    A. The CIA

    B. Mossad

    C. MI-6

    D. Muslim Terrorists From Pakistan

imageimageGroup Said to Be Behind India Blasts
NEW DELHI (AP)

A caller claimed Sunday that a little-known Islamic group in the Kashmir insurgency was behind terror bombings that killed at least 59 people at two crowded markets the day before in India’s capital. Police said earlier that 61 people died in the Saturday night explosions, but lowered the figure Sunday, saying some deaths had been counted twice.

Investigators were questioning numerous people after raids on dozens of small hotels across New Delhi. Authorities said they had gathered “lots of information” about the attacks, but declined to comment on the claim of responsibility. With security tightened in New Delhi and across many states in India, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held an emergency Cabinet meeting Sunday evening to discuss the attacks.

“We have lots of information but it is not proper to disclose it yet,” Patil told journalists after the meeting. “Our people are making good progress. The investigation is going well.” A man saying he represented the militant group Islamic Inquilab Mahaz (Front for Islamic Uprising) made the claim in a call to the Kashmir News Service in India’s portion of Kashmir, a Himalayan region also claimed by Pakistan where Muslim separatists have waged a 16-year-old insurgency.

The smaller group is tied to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, the most feared militant group in Kashmir, police said. U.S. officials have linked the group to al-Qaida. The caller, who identified himself as Ahmed Yaar Ghaznavi, said the attack “was meant as a rebuff to the claims of Indian security groups” that militant fighters had been wiped out by military crackdowns and the mammoth earthquake that hit Oct. 8.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil refused to comment on the claim. But a leading anti-terrorism expert said earlier that the timing and nature of the bombings appeared to indicate the work of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba. “It looks like Lashkar. They are the most active group here,” said Vikram Sood, the former head of the Research and Analysis Wing, India’s external intelligence agency.

A police spokesman said during the day that 22 people had been detained in the hotel raids, but declined to give further details, citing the sensitive nature of the investigation. Police officials later insisted no one was detained, but said people were being questioned. The first explosion hit at 5:45 p.m. in New Delhi’s main Paharganj market, killing 16 people and leaving bloodstained streets and mangled stalls of wood and twisted metal.

Within minutes, an explosion at the Sarojini Nagar market killed 43 people and a bomb meant for a bus in the Govindpuri neighborhood injured nine. Police said the three blasts wounded 188 people in all, several seriously.

Paris Is Burning

Three nights ago in Paris, three teenagers were accidently killed when they jumped into an electrical substation while fleeing from police. There have been three nights of bloody riots, burning buildings and outright civil war in FrogLand since then. See if you can guess what group of people the rioters all belong to. The answer is in the last paragraph below ....

imageimageFires Of ‘Civil War’ Erupt In Paris
PARIS (MAIL & GUARDIAN)

Hundreds of French youths fought with police and set cars ablaze in a northern Paris suburb early on Saturday morning in a second successive night of rioting. The disorder was triggered last week when two teenagers were electrocuted and killed in a local substation while fleeing from police. French authorities insist they were running away from officers investigating a break-in, but people in Clichy-sous-Bois claim that the dead youths had committed no crime.

On Saturday afternoon, a silent march was held to the town hall in the centre of the suburb. Many protesters wore T-shirts bearing the message “Dead for nothing”. “We respect the republic,” said Siako Karne, the brother of one of the dead men. “The republic has to respect us.”

Firefighters extinguished more than 30 burning cars and dozens of dustbins pushed into makeshift barricades on Friday night and Saturday morning as running battles in the streets of the north-eastern suburb pitted more than 200 riot police against scores of hooded youths. At least one shot was fired at the police, 19 people were detained and 15 officers and one journalist injured, an official spokesperson said.

An officer from police trade union Action Police CFTC called for help from the army to support police officers. “There’s a civil war under way in Clichy-sous-Bois at the moment,” Michel Thooris, from Action Police CFTC, said. “My colleagues neither have the equipment nor the practical or theoretical training for street fighting.”

Clichy-sous-Bois is home to 28 300 people, a large number of whom are recent immigrants from North or Central Africa. Most live in rundown, low-rise public housing estates. Unemployment rates are among the highest in France and many locals see the police as “the enemy”.

Religion Of Peace Update

“There are none so blind as those who cannot will not see.”—Except for those who have no heads. They can see even less. How much longer must the world continue to put up with this crap before someone decides to put a stop to it? How do we stop it? Is Allah really proud of his “people” for beheading little schoolgirls? Are other Muslims around the world happy to see this kind of barbarity? I demand an answer ....

Three Indonesian Girls Beheaded
JAKARTA, Indonesia (BBC)

Three girls have been beheaded and another badly injured as they walked to a Christian school in Indonesia. They were walking through a cocoa plantation near the city of Poso in central Sulawesi province when they were attacked. This is an area that has a long history of religious violence between Muslims and Christians.

A government-brokered truce has only partially succeeded in reducing the number of incidents in recent years. Police say the heads were found some distance from the bodies. It is unclear what was behind the attack, but the girls attended a private Christian school and one of the heads was left outside a church leading to speculation that it might have had a religious motive.

Central Sulawesi and Poso in particular was the scene of bitter fighting between Muslims and Christians in 2001 and 2002. Muslim gang members carry makeshift rifles as Christian homes burn in sectarian violence-wracked Poso, December 2001. More than 1,000 people were killed before a government-brokered truce.

Although the violence has been subdued, it has never gone away completely. A bomb in May in the nearby town of Tentena, which is predominantly Christian, killed 22 people and injured over 30. The fighting four years ago drew Islamic militants from all over Indonesia and many have never gone home.

Analysts say the militants have targeted central Sulawesi and believe that it could be turned into the foundation stone of an Islamic state. The analysts have warned that the violence could resurface at any time.

Iranian Insanity

Meanwhile in Iran, the Mad MOOS-lims are rattling sabers and foaming at the mouth over ... Israel. The President of Iran is violently angry at Israel for oppressing Arab people, bombing mosques and .... wait a minute, none of that happened. He’s calling for jihad against Israel simply because .... Jews exist. What a piece of work these asshats are. Listen to this incredible crap from the “Religion of Peace” ...

Iranian Leader: Israel Will Be Destroyed
TEHERAN (AP)

Iran’s hard-line president called for Israel to be “wiped off the map” and said a new wave of Palestinian attacks will destroy the Jewish state, state-run media reported Wednesday. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also denounced attempts to recognize Israel or normalize relations with it.

“There is no doubt that the new wave (of attacks) in Palestine will wipe off this stigma (Israel) from the face of the Islamic world,” Ahmadinejad told students Wednesday during a Tehran conference called “The World without Zionism.”

“Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury, any (Islamic leader) who recognizes the Zionist regime means he is acknowledging the surrender and defeat of the Islamic world,” Ahmadinejad said.

Ahmadinejad also repeated the words of the founder of Iran’s Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who called for the destruction of Israel. “As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map,” said Ahmadinejad, who came to power in August.

Ahmadinejad referred to Israel’s recent withdrawal from the Gaza Strip as a “trick,” saying Gaza is part of the Palestinian territories and the withdrawal was meant to make Islamic states acknowledge Israel.

You can thank Jimmy Carter for the bulls**t coming from Iran. Thanks to the Peanut President, back in the 1970’s, these jerks took over Iran and now we’re having to pay for Carter’s stupidity.

Burning Christian Churches In Egypt

Bloody riots, burning churches, people murdered ... and it all started over a DVD which “offended” MOOS-lims. All this from a so-called “Religion Of Peace” ... ?

Egypt Police Guard Churches After Riots
ALEXANDRIA, Egypt (AP)

Thousands of police manned barricades around Christian churches in Egypt’s second largest city Saturday, a day after Muslim rioters attacked churches and shops, leaving four people dead in the country’s worst religious violence in five years. Egypt’s top Muslim and Christian leaders appealed for calm as tensions simmered in Alexandria, where some 5,000 Muslim rioters rampaged through two predominantly Christian neighborhoods. Clashes with rubber bullet-firing police killed two rioters and two policemen, police and hospital officials said Saturday. At least 90 people were injured.

The violence followed a week of protests over the distribution of a DVD of a play deemed offensive to Muslims. St. George’s Coptic Church, where the play was performed two years ago, was one of the seven churches attacked Friday. The play, entitled “I Was Blind But Now I Can See,” tells the story of a young Christian who converts to Islam and becomes disillusioned. Islamic leaders accused Copts of releasing the DVDs and demanded an apology.

But political leaders and security officials said Islamic extremists distributed the DVDs in an effort to tarnish a Coptic Christian candidate running in next month’s parliamentary elections for Alexandria’s impoverished Ghorbal constituency. Maher Khalah, one of two Copts running on the ruling National Democratic Party ticket in this mainly Sunni Muslim country, announced Saturday that he was withdrawing from the race to prevent any recurrence of the violence.

“This violence is not about the DVD, it is all about the elections,” Khalah told The Associated Press. Coptic Christians, who account for about 10 percent of Egypt’s population of 72 million, complain of discrimination but generally live in harmony with the Muslim majority. Violence flares occasionally, particularly in small southern communities. Friday’s violence was the bloodiest since January 2000, when an argument between a Coptic shopkeeper and a Muslim customer swelled into gunfights and other street battles that killed 23 people, mostly Christians, in el-Kusheh, a town south of Cairo.

In a joint statement, the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Shenouda III, and Egypt’s highest Islamic authority, Grand Sheik of al-Azhar Mohammed Sayyed Tantawi, urged Christians and Muslims not to resort to violence. “We call on everyone to be calm so we can spread the grace of peace, security and affection among us,” the religious leaders said. “If something happened and was misunderstood, then it is our duty to deal with it in the spirit of dialogue and understanding.”

Shenouda canceled a trip to Alexandria on Saturday for his annual Ramadan fast-breaking meal with Muslim officials because of the violence, church leaders said. Coptic community leader Kamil Sediq warned that the repercussions of Friday’s violence could spread to Cairo and other provinces and reiterated that the church would not apologize. “We’re not going to apologize because we don’t want it to become a precedent,” said Sediq, of the Coptic Community Council, a secular body of prominent Copts established in 1874 to oversee affairs of the community. “We did nothing to apologize for.”

Where’s The Outrage?

When they do it, there are celebrations and parties in the streets. When we do it, there is worldwide outrage and the UN weeps. Something’s entirely out of whack when MOOS-lims can assassinate Americans, burn the bodies and then mutilate them and drag them through the streets without a single peep from their MOOS-lim bothers and sisters around the world. As usual, Amnesia International and the United Notions are awfully quiet. However, let one lousy Arab stub his toe while in American captivity and all hell breaks loose. It’s time to take off the gloves and institute public hangings with rope soaked in pig fat ... and tell all the whining complainers on the Left to go take a flying leap ....

Four U.S. Contractors Killed in Iraq
BAGHDAD (AP)

An angry mob of insurgents attacked a convoy of American contractors last month when they got lost in a town north of Baghdad, killing four and wounding two, the U.S. military said on Sunday. The Sept. 20 attack in the mostly Sunni Arab town of Duluiyah, about 45 miles north of Baghdad, was reported for the first time on Saturday by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph and confirmed by the military on Sunday.

The convoy, which included U.S. military guards riding in Humvees, made a wrong turn into Duluiyah and insurgents opened fire with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades, Maj. Richard Goldenberg, a spokesman for Task Force Liberty in north-central Iraq, told The Associated Press.

“Task Force Liberty soldiers, which have a forward operating base in that area, responded to assist the convoy, administered first aid to two wounded contractors and evacuated the remains of four contractors killed,” Goldenberg said. He said he had no information about what the U.S. soldiers riding in the convoy had done during the attack.

The attack caused no U.S. military casualties, but Goldenberg said his men, acting on a tip, returned to the area two days later to detain an individual suspected of ties to the attack. The U.S. troops killed two insurgents after coming under fire. The Telegraph reported the contractors killed and wounded were employees of the Halliburton Co. subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root, the biggest U.S. military contractor in Iraq. But Goldenberg could not confirm that.

The Telegraph reported that two of the contractors not killed in the initial attack were dragged alive from their vehicle, which had been badly shot up. They were forced to kneel in the road before being killed. “Killing one of the men with a rifle round fired into the back of his head, they doused the other with petrol and set him alight,” the paper reported. “Barefoot children, yelping in delight, piled straw on to the screaming man’s body to stoke the flames.” The crowd then “dragged their corpses through the street, chanting anti-U.S. slogans,” the report said.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
