Saudi women with attractive eyes may be forced to cover even them.

Hey .. have you folks seen the latest demand the Saudis, well some at least, are making of their women?
You’d think the rop had gone about as far as it could in their control of women.  Apparently not as some want more restrictions. Not the women of course.
Feel sorry for them.

Look at this.

Saudi women with attractive eyes may be forced to cover even them up, if resolution is passed

Islamic state fears effect of ‘tempting’ eyes on men

Says it ‘has the right’ to issue repressive edict

Women must already cover their hair and wear full-length black cloak

By LEON WATSON

Women with attractive eyes may be forced to cover them up under Saudi Arabia’s latest repressive measure, it was revealed today.

The ultra-conservative Islamic state has said it has the right to stop women revealing ‘tempting’ eyes in public.

A spokesperson for Saudi Arabia’s Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Sheikh Motlab al Nabet, said a proposal to enshrine the measure in law has been tabled.

Women in Saudi Arabia already have to wear a long black cloak, called an abaya, cover their hair and, in some regions, conceal their faces while in public.

If they do not, they face punishments including fines and public floggings.

They are also banned from driving by religious edict and cannot travel without authorisation from their male guardians.

In September, a Saudi women sentenced to 10 lashes for defying the driving ban was only spared when King Abdullah stepped in to stop the public flogging.

Also in September, the king announced that women would be given the right to vote for the first time and run in the country’s 2015 local elections.

The CPVPV, which employs around 3,500 religious police, has repeatedly been accused of human rights violations.

Founded in 1940, its function is to ensure Islamic laws are not broken in public in Saudi Arabia.

In 2002 the committee refused to allow female students out of a burning school in Mecca because they were not wearing the correct head covering.

The decision contributed to the toll of 15 people who were killed in the fire.

Three Wives? Two Husbands? Move To Canada, Quick!

This is a very quick follow up to Peiper’s post below on the ‘honor killings’ in Canada. And a HUGE indication of cultural decline.

Canada: Come On Up, Bring All Your Wives! ??

January 4, 2011

A court hearing challenging Canada’s anti-polygamy law on religious freedom grounds resumes Wednesday in British Columbia and will eventually include testimony from men and women who are living in multiple-partner marriages.

The hearing will not immediately change the status quo, as British Columbia Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Bauman’s ruling will not bind any courts.

But his ruling will address questions about whether polygamy is a criminal activity under Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and, if it is illegal, under what circumstances. Observers predict that if Justice Bauman’s ruling is appealed, the issue could end up before the Supreme Court of Canada, which could make a binding ruling about polygamy.

The legal hearing revolves around the British Columbia community of Bountiful. Formed in 1946, its 400 or so members belong to a breakaway Mormon sect that permits men to have multiple wives.

The challengers of Canada’s anti-polygamy law say that the nation’s 1982 Charter of Rights and Freedoms gives people the right to practice “plural marriage.”

For believers in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, “celestial marriage” — i.e., plural marriage — “is an essential FLDS religious principle,” and “unless the faithful participate in it, they cannot enter into the fullness of glory in the kingdom of heaven in the afterlife,” William John Walsh, an expert on FLDS, said in an affidavit to the court.

The FLDS long ago split from the mainstream Mormon Church, which formerly practiced polygamy but ceased the practice in 1890 and condemns the FLDS as heretical.

People who practice Islam, Wicca and other religions also are adversely affected by the anti-polygamy law, Vancouver lawyers George K. Macintosh, Ludmila B. Herbst and Tim Dickson said in a brief to the court.

Landmark polygamy ruling expected in two weeks

VANCOUVER — The British Columbia Supreme Court is expected to release its long-awaited ruling in a polygamy case on Nov. 23. In April, after 42 days of hearing evidence about whether or not Canada’s polygamy law is constitutional, Chief Justice Robert Bauman reserved judgment. Bauman’s ruling will be posted on the B.C. Supreme Court website, according to information released by court officials Tuesday.

A lockup for reporters is being organized just prior to the release of the ruling.

Lawyers for the governments of Canada and B.C. called witnesses to testify to the harm caused by polygamy. They argued that the practice puts women and children at sufficient risk to justify limiting religious freedoms.

A lawyer appointed by the court marshalled the groups that say the law is over-broad and unconstitutional and should be struck down. Those groups included the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the B.C. Civil Liberties Association.

Wiki data:

Canada: It is illegal by Section 293 of the Criminal Code of Canada. Bigamy is banned by Section 290. However, the law banning polygamy is not enforced by the government. As of January 2009, no person has been prosecuted in over sixty years. A reference case is currently under way in the Supreme Court of British Columbia challenging the constitutionality of this law.

November 6, 2011: An opinion

There isn’t a shred of evidence that polygamy benefits women. Even the UN, often a laughingstock of blind ideologues, has declared that polygamy violates women’s equality rights. Still, that hasn’t stopped academics (who should know better) from suggesting that polygamy be decriminalized.

The latest educator to jump on the decriminalization bandwagon is U of A poli-sci professor Lois Harder. In a recent study written for the Vanier Institute of the Family, Harder wonders if women in polygamous families might be better off if polygamy wasn’t a crime.

“Decriminalizing polygamy would not entail expanding the definition of marriage to include polygamous marriages,” she wrote. “Rather, it would provide a firmer foundation from which to protect women and children in polygamous relationships from exploitation.”

Yeah, right. Remove polygamy from the Criminal Code and all those young girls and women who’ve been brainwashed by the men in Bountiful, B.C., and other polygamous communities will shake off the shackles of exploitation and go to university to become doctors, lawyers and, oh, poli-sci profs.
...
It’s incredibly naive to believe that polygamy can exist without the exploitation of women. The females in these dysfunctional relationships may not think they’re being taken advantage of. They may, in fact, insist they freely chose such a lifestyle.

After all, what woman wouldn’t want to get married in her mid-teens to someone old enough to be her father or grandfather, drop out of school, have a baby every year and share her husband with a bunch of sister-wives? Isn’t that every woman’s dream?
...
Polygamy is simply incompatible with equality and basic human dignity. It’s soul-destroying and merely feeds the deranged dictates of pathological egotists.

Mohammad Shafia’s house rules

At the Shafias’, court hears, men were the law, women property and teen behavior worthy of execution

On paper, Mohammad Shafia was the ideal immigrant, a wealthy, self-made businessman eager to inject his dollars into the Canadian economy. An Afghan who made his fortune in Dubai real estate, Shafia wasted little time setting up shop in his adopted country. In 2008, a year after arriving in Montreal, he purchased a $2-million strip mall in Laval—with a cash down payment of $1.6 million. He launched a company that imported and distributed clothing, household goods and construction material. And he chose the posh suburb of Brossard to build a sprawling mansion with plenty of room for all 10 members of his polygamous clan: himself, two wives and seven children.

The new house was still under construction on June 30, 2009, when three of the Shafia girls—Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13—were discovered at the bottom of the Rideau Canal, floating inside a sunken black Nissan that also contained the lifeless body of their “stepmother,” Shafia’s first wife, Rona Amir Mohammad. The four passengers appeared, at first glance, to be the victims of a late-night joyride gone horribly wrong. Within weeks, however, detectives in Kingston, Ont., offered a far more chilling version of events, laying first-degree-murder charges against a trio of suspects: Mohammad Shafia, the dead girls’ father; Tooba Yahya, their mother; and Hamed Shafia, their brother.

Today, more than two years later, the Shafia patriarch sleeps in a tiny cell with his eldest son. His wife—the one that’s still breathing—is locked in a separate prison.

Much much more at this link.

Canada long ago fell off the left edge of the earth as far as I’m concerned, and has become a socialist cesspool. I would be amazed if the Canadian Supreme Court upheld the existing law, and I’d be even more amazed if they demanded that it actually be enforced. Selective enforcement of laws is one of the ways that a socialist tyranny hides behind a facade of democracy - just ask Obama and Holder. I fully expect the crazy Canucks to rule that polygamy is perfectly fine and dandy. And that any animal over 40lbs is capable of unspoken consent to a human sexual interaction.

The West is going straight to hell.

Aww Gee, Too Bad

Muslims outraged

over pig parts dumped at Swiss mosque site

Mwaaahahahahaa!

Muslims in Switzerland are responding with shock and outrage after a pig carcass and severed swine heads were discovered buried at the site of a proposed mosque.

Police in the town of Grenchen uncovered the pigs Friday after they received an anonymous message claiming that someone had buried the body parts and spilled 120 liters of blood from the animals in an effort to desecrate the ground to halt the construction of the mosque.

Pork and pork byproducts are haram, or forbidden, in Islam.

The unsigned flier, written in German, says “This operation was done (conducted) to protest against the growing expansion of Islam in Switzerland,” and says that a similar desecration in Spain earlier halted another mosque construction project.

Outstanding. Now do this at least once a week. To every mosque the world over. Make a stand. Push back. Let’s begin The Bacon Revolution.

The police chief says that veterinary health officials have been called in to find if pig’s blood has in fact been spilled, and that charges may be filed over illegal dumping of animal parts in addition to other potential criminal charges.

But for Muslims in Switzerland, it’s just the latest sign that they are being victimized by some in the far right.

Abdel Azziz Qaasim Illi, spokesman for Switzerland’s Central Islamic Council said the deed “crossed a line” that had already been pushed against Muslims since a popular referendum in 2009 banned the construction of new minarets.

“Since the ban on minarets there’s been an increase in Islamophobia and Islamophobic events, so it was not really surprising” said Illi. “But it is an escalation in Switzerland because this is a peaceful country where Christians and Muslims have all been living together… and we are a bit afraid this may increase.”

There are an estimated 500,000 Muslims in Switzerland, out of a population of more than 7 million says Illi, who admitted that the population is rising but that most Swiss Muslims were immigrants from Albania and elsewhere in the Balkans, where there is a tradition of moderate Islam.

Switzerland; land of conservative, buttoned down, responsible white people. Heidi. Cowbells. Probably mostly Lutherans if I had to take a guess. Now so overrun with muzzy immigrants from the ghetto states of south east Europe, to the extent that 1 in 14 in their tiny country is a bomb throwing pedophile worshiper. And anyone who can remember the Balkan Wars of 20 years ago will scoff at that “tradition of moderate Islam” garbage. Remember “ethnic cleansing”? Serbia?  Croatia? Sarajevo?

Texas CCW Instructor: Obama Voters And Muslims NOT WELCOME In My Class

image

MASON, Texas—It was a message intended to bring in some extra business. A radio ad for a concealed handgun class at Keller’s Riverside Store in Mason, located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is causing controversy.

“We will attempt to teach you all the necessary information you need to obtain your C.H.L.,” the ad stated.  Forty-five seconds in, the advertisement added a disclaimer.

Ad for gun training bars Muslims and Obama voters

A radio ad for a handgun training class that bars Muslims and Obama voters has sparked an investigation in Texas.

“We will attempt to teach you all the necessary information you need to obtain your [Concealed Handgun License],” the ad says. Then towards the end, it adds: “If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class. You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision under the law.”

And then: “If you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class with no shame; I am Crockett Keller, thank you, and God bless America.”

The ad ran for six days on KHLB, Mason’s local station. It’s also been heard tens of thousands of times on Youtube.

Keller, 65, has said in media interviews that he just regards the message is just common sense. “The fact is, if you are a devout Muslim, then you cannot be a true American,” he told local news station KVUE, while fielding calls congratulating him for his stance. “Why should I arm these people to kill me? That’s suicide.”

“I call it exercising my right to choose who I instruct in how to use a dangerous weapon,” he added.

But the state of Texas may disagree. The Department of Public Safety said in a statement that certified instructors of handgun training are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and added: “Conduct by an instructor that denied service to individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion would place that instructor’s certification by the Department at risk of suspension or revocation.” The department has said it has begun an investigation.

It seems unlikely that Keller will back down, though. “I’m not going to do it,” he told the local news. “I will give up my license to teach before I will teach them,” he said, referring to Obama voters and Muslims.

Gee What A Surprise

Libya: Transitional Leader Calls for Sharia Law

Gosh, who saw that coming?

The transitional government leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil called on Libyans to show “patience, honesty and tolerance” and eschew hatred as they embark on rebuilding the country at the end of an 8-month civil war.

Abdul-Jalil set out a vision for the post-Qaddafi future with an Islamist tint, saying that Islamic Sharia law would be the “basic source” of legislation in the country and that existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified.

In a gesture that showed his own piety, he urged Libyans not to express their joy by firing in the air, but rather to chant “Allahu Akbar,” or God is Great. He then stepped aside and knelt to offer a brief prayer of thanks.

“After four decades of brutal dictatorship and eight months of deadly conflict, the Libyan people can now celebrate their freedom and the beginning of a new era of promise,” Obama said in a statement.

Yes indeed. The promise of going from one form of slavery immediately into another form of slavery. And just how much of a “basic source” do you really think Sharia will be, if the very first thing that the interim government does is get rid of every single law that is non-Sharia? As in “basic” equals “total”.

And another country full of the uneducated and the unwashed gets thrown under the goat cart. I’d like to say “gets thrown under the bus” but a bus is 1,200 years too advanced for them. So we’ll have yet another nation that is watering the seeds of the Caliphate. It’s going to happen in Tunisia to the west, and it’s happening to the east in this very Egypt. Hell, they can’t even wait for elections there, and are busy killing Christians and burning churches left and right. Honesty, tolerance, and eschewing hatred. Riiiiight.

(AP) TUNIS, Tunisia — As the land that launched the Arab Spring heads into historic elections next week, all eyes are on the long-repressed Islamists — and whether a big victory for them will irrevocably change this North African nation and inspire similar conservative movements around the region.

Many fear that despite vows to uphold democracy, Tunisia’s Islamist Ennahda Party is bent on imposing a theocracy that would roll back hard-won secularism and women’s rights. Others see an opportunity to bring a moderate form of political Islam into the Arab world — one styled after the successful ruling party in thriving Turkey.

The Ennahda Party was brutally crushed by overthrown dictator Ben Ali in the 1990s, a policy tacitly approved by Western powers wary of militant Islam. Now, in the Oct. 23 election, it is set to become the largest party in the assembly that will write the nation’s new constitution — largely because it is the best-organized force in the country.

Unlike many Islamist groups in the region, Ennahda has explicitly pledged to champion democratic values and women’s rights, but its secular critics warn the party has a secret agenda to impose hardline Islam.

These fears have been inflamed by the appearance of new ultraconservative groups known as Salafists that have attacked movie theaters and TV stations for showing material they say denigrates Islam.

The pro-democracy Egyptian revolution is heading towards producing results contrary to the expectation of those who spearheaded it.

The Islamist parties now stand a good chance to win an absolute majority in the parliamentary elections in November, and also contest successfully the presidential election. This outcome would be alarming for secularist pro-democracy elements and many regional and international actors, Israel and the US in particular, but it would need to be embraced as part and parcel of process of Egypt’s democratisation journey.

According to an Aljazeera public opinion survey, released on July 7, 2011, nearly 50 per cent of those polled indicated first preference for the Muslim Brotherhood, represented by the Freedom and Justice Party. Another 27 per cent expressed support for the Salafist cluster or what is now called Nour Party. Although there are some ideological and operational differences between the two parties, both are nonetheless Islamist, advocating political Islam as the framework for Egypt’s transformation.

With Libya going over, Egypt pretty much gone, Sudan, Eritrea, and Somalia already gone, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Oman solidly islamic and their leaders under intense pressure ... that’s an area far larger than the lower 48 of the USA. Add in Iran, soon to be Iraq, and of course the madhouses of Syria, “Palestine”, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, et al ... it’s a mess. Do you really think Algeria will remain aloof? Morocco? These countries may not instantly give up their identity to be part of a new empire, but if they all go (or remain) Sharia, there isn’t a whole lot of difference. Their populations are already nearly 100% muslim. All they need is one little spark to ignite the fires of jihad. The sand lands will become a giant green stain on the world. Again. Hell, they already are, but I’m talking about their being a cohesive one. Glenn Beck was right.

Arab Spring my ass. Obama, what have you done?

The only silver lining I can see in this cloud is that the izzies hate each other even more than they hate everyone else, so they won’t go quietly into that good night. They’ll go screaming and bleeding, and the west will just sit and watch.

Oh, and extra credit to you if you got my “this very Egypt” reference; you’ve found another of my favorite authors.

Got Him

Moamar Ghadafi Captured In Libya

Updated: Thursday, 20 Oct 2011, 7:40 AM EDT
Published : Thursday, 20 Oct 2011, 7:40 AM EDT

SIRTE, Libya - Libyan strongman Moamar Ghadafi has been captured, a Transitional National Council military commander said Thursday.

“He has been captured. He is badly wounded, but he is still breathing,” Mohamed Leith told AFP, adding that he saw Ghadafi himself and that he was wearing a khaki uniform and a turban.

Ghadafi was said to be wounded in both legs, according to Reuters, which said he was detained near Sirte.

Libyan TV channel Libya lil Ahrar also said that he was in custody.

However, the TNC’s UK spokesman, Mahmoud Nacua, warned that there was “not enough information” to confirm Ghadafi’s capture, and a former TNC spokesman in Britain, Guma al Gamati told Sky News that “this is not confirmed.”

Sirte, Ghadafi’s hometown and the last bastion of his supporters, was the last holdout against TNC forces. The town’s capture, which both military officials and new regime political sources said was expected later Thursday, would pave the way for the TNC to officially take control of Libya and move its headquarters away from its Benghazi stronghold in the east to the capital, Tripoli.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens next. One less dictator in the area, but what will become of Libya now?

UPDATE: Oops, He’s Dead Now

SIRTE, Libya (Reuters) - Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds suffered on Thursday as fighters battling to complete an eight-month-old uprising against his rule overran his hometown Sirte, Libya’s interim rulers said.

His killing, which came swiftly after his capture near Sirte, is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.

“He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head,” National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters. “There was a lot of firing against his group and he died.”

Reports are conflicting. Some say he was caught in a spider hole like Saddam, and surrendered. Yet somehow managed to get shot in the legs twice, and then in the head? Other reports say he was gunned down by a NATO attack on a fleeing convoy of vehicles. And so on. No word on whether the new “battle-dozer” had anything to do with his death or capture, but it also appears that the town of Sirte has fallen. And that should be about the end of the fighting in Libya. Now, show us his body, and show us how it’s disposed of, so we infidels can learn. Betcha they throw his corpse to the dogs.

UPDATE 2: Rat In A Drain Ditch
image
the drain pipe where Muammar was hiding when he was captured ... and then executed? Lyndon gives us the latest news link!

14:03 NTC spokesman Abdel Hafez Ghoga says: “We announce to the world that Kadhafi has been killed at the hands of the revolution. It is an historic moment. It is the end of tyranny and dictatorship. Kadhafi has met his fate,” he added.

14:00 PM David Cameron to give statement on reports of Gaddafi’s death imminently.

13:57 The revolutionary fighter who says he saw the capture of Gaddafi tells Sky News he hit him with his shoe (one of the worst insults in the Islamic faith). He was reportedly shot once in the head and once in each leg.

13:54 NTC spokesman Abdel Hafiz Ghoga also now confirming the former leader’s death.

13:52 If reports are found to be true that Gaddafi was found in a hole underground in District 2 in his hometown of Sirte, the similarities to the capture of Saddam Hussein are unavoidable. The Iraqi dictator was discovered in a small, underground hole concealed next to farm buildings near the his own hometown of Tikrit. He had been hiding out for months with a handful of his most loyal aides.

14:34 Let’s recap all reports of deaths and captures. Just to be clear, none have yet been independently verified:

Muammar Gaddafi: Dead - NTC officials

Mutassim Gaddafi, Col Gaddafi’s fifth son: Dead - NTC officials

Moussa Ibrahim, Gaddafi’s spokesman: Captured - NTC officials

Abu Bakr Yunis, former defence minister: Killed in Gaddafi’s convoy - NTC officials

Terrorist Scouts Nabbed In Texas

Bomb Scare at Bexar County Courthouse

Police now say 5 men are under arrest after a bomb scare at the Bexar County Courthouse early Wednesday morning.  The search began after authorities arrested 2 Morrocan nationals who were found inside the courthouse. Another man was arrested in a nearby RV and two more were arrested later. A sweep of the courthouse did not uncover any bombs.

Investigators have found 90-day visas, maps, cell phones and computers inside a recreational vehicle that may have been rented by five foreign nationals arrested after a break-in at a county courthouse in San Antonio.

Sheriff’s department spokesman Louis Antu (AN’-too) says local and federal authorities are investigating the early Wednesday burglary at the old Bexar (bayr) County Courthouse. Antu says the men are all in their 20s and were unarmed when they were arrested about 1:30 a.m. Three of the men were caught

inside while the other two were outside near the RV. Antu says he has no information to indicate the break-in is related to terrorism. He says federal authorities are involved because the men aren’t from the U.S. and authorities still are trying to confirm their nationalities.

Uh huh. “no information”. At this point we know what the “nothing to see here, move along” denial means, right?

DEVELOPING: The FBI and local police say they are trying to figure out why five French-Moroccan nationals tried to break into a Texas courthouse in the middle of the night.

At least five foreign nationals are in custody after the attempted break-in at the Bexar County Courthouse in San Antonio, which triggered a bomb scare and FBI terror investigation, a source close to the case tells FoxNews.com.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said the suspects are believed to be of French-Moroccan descent.

Police said two of the men climbed a fire escape and entered an unlocked door on the fourth floor of the courthouse at around 2 a.m., KHOU.com reports.

The men allegedly told investigators that they were visiting from out of town and said they were trying to get a tour of the city, according to the station.

Sheriff’s department spokesman Louis Antu told the Associated Press that there’s no information to indicate that the incident might be affiliated with terrorism. He said the case is being investigated as burglary of a building.

Sure, sure thing Sheriff. We all know that folks from the islamic nation of Morocco come over from North Africa all the time to break in to courthouses in Texas as part of their midnight tourist travel plans.
Happens all the time. Sure it does. And after this they were going giraffe hunting in Ohio.

Iranian Student Running In Weight Vest Mistaken For Suicide Bomber

An Oxford University student was mistaken for a suicide bomber as he jogged around the city’s streets - wearing a weighted vest.

Armed police stopped the Iranian man after reports of a suicide bomber, only to discover he was a jogger wearing an exercise vest.

The suspect was ordered to stop running, put his hands in the air and drop everything as officers approached him.

The officers carefully took off the heavily padded vest and searched it, looking for explosives and a detonator.

However, they found the Oxford University PhD student was wearing a training vest loaded with weights for added resistance when running.

Iranian student Goudarz Karimi said he was shocked by the police response even after they realised he was not a suicide bomber.

He said he had gone out for a jog on Monday afternoon and was confronted by the armed response team in Southfield Road, East Oxford.

Mr Karimi said: ‘They told me “Stop! Stop! Put your hands in the air. Drop everything you have”.

‘The police removed my weight vest and examined it. They started asking questions: “What are you doing?”

‘They said they had a report of someone walking in a bomb suit. There were police cars and the street was blocked.’

Mr Karimi said he feared his ethnic origin had sparked the concerns.

‘I am 100 per cent sure that if I was blond with Caucasian skin type, nobody would have noticed and said anything about it.

‘But I’m of dark skin complexion and from Iran and I’m sure that’s related to it,’ he said.

He said officers advised him not to wear it in the street in future but Thames Valley Police dispute this.

Mr Karimi, who is studying for a PhD in physiology, anatomy and genetics at Oxford University, said: ‘I felt a bit like my rights were violated. The police told me to take my vest off and to go home and I don’t see why I should.

Kudos to the police for not simply shooting this idiot on sight. “out for a jog” wearing blue jeans? Training with a 65lb vest on? Who is this guy, Mr. Olympia? And the vest in “tactical” black? Is he kidding? The only thing missing was a couple wires from his iPod.

Ok, to me, this looks a bit more like an ammo vest than a suicide belt, but come on. Maybe it’s a great design for the 1 in 10,000 hard core runners who use such a thing, but neon yellow or safety orange would have been a better color choice. Something that doesn’t scream paramilitary gear quite so loudly.

Looks to me like a desperate attempt to place the race card.  Or the martyr card. Or just to see if he could get away with it, testing the system. What a jerk.

Driving the Recovery?

Improve the Economy: Raise the Speed Limit to 80mph

Motorway speed limits could be raised to 80mph to shorten journey times and boost the economy

The current 70mph restriction is rarely enforced, police often turning a blind eye to anyone driving at up to 10mph faster than the limit.

Experts have argued that by having a higher speed limit that is enforced more readily, drivers are more likely to have respect for the rules.

A report in the Daily Mail suggests potential changes could be discussed as soon as this month’s Conservative Party conference.

It states that it is now only a matter of time before the change to the law is brought in, although speed restrictions on motorways will be better enforced.

But the Department for Transport refused to be drawn on the matter, describing the report as “speculation”.

“We need to make sure that we are looking at the right criteria when considering what level speed limits should be set at,” a DfT spokesman said.

“This means looking at the economic benefits of shorter journey times as well as considering other implications such as road safety and carbon emissions.

“Any proposal to change national speed limits would be subject to full public consultation.”

The latest figures from the DfT show that nearly half of cars exceeded the 70mph speed limit on motorways last year.

Sounds like a good idea to me for over here too. But I would want state vehicle inspection standards raised to check somehow if cars were stable at those speeds, had the properly rated tires, and had proper brakes. Then I’d want a major effort from the police to enforce safe following distances. People drive on the highways of NJ at 80mph or better all the time ... right on each other’s bumpers. That is not safe driving.

But it would be nice for many of us to get to work 15 minutes faster, and if such a speed limit were to stay around, new cars could be given a more appropriate top gear so that they’d get the same mileage at that speed as they do at 65mph.

Perhaps a bit better driver training could help us, and the UK as well:

The problem with driving is drivers. Not you, dear reader, obviously – your three-point turns are vehicular ballet. It’s the rest of them. As roads have become busier, and our society more self-centred, drivers have become more volatile. And a ton of speeding metal is a lot with which to entrust an angry idiot. Today, even being a passenger is stressful. Although trains can be unreliable, they rarely get cut up on wet motorways, or honked at impatiently by another train travelling three inches behind them. And I can count on no hands the number of times I’ve seen a train driver mouthing curses at a fellow train driver while attempting to run him into a bollard.

In short, our roads would be lovely places to drive if only people didn’t keep driving on them.

Hmmm, maybe. But on the gripping hand, meting out just punishment for offenses behind the wheel seems to be a universal problem ...

Saudi King Abdullah has overturned a court verdict that sentenced a Saudi woman to be lashed 10 times for defying the kingdom’s ban on women driving.

The revelation was made by a government official, who asked to remain anonymous, and who would not reveal the king’s reasons for intervening in the case.

A day earlier, a Saudi court found Shaima Jastaina guilty of violating the driving ban, and sentenced her to 10 lashes, igniting a firestorm in the conservative Muslim kingdom.

It was the first time a legal punishment had been handed down for breaking the longtime ban in the ultraconservative Muslim nation. No laws prohibit women from driving, but conservative religious edicts have banned it.

I bet the Saudis won’t let women drive because there is no peripheral vision in a burkha. That, and they’re all a bunch of 7th century misogynists. But I’m having a happy moment here, daydreaming of NJ having Sharia-esque traffic police ... tailgating? 10 lashes, right now! Didn’t use your signals? 5 lashes, right now! Pennsyltucky Left Lane Dick? 20 lashes, right now! OGB*? 3 lashes when you finally get to where you’re going!

Ach crivens, it’s pouring again. Our third thunderstorm of the day. I am turning into an amphibian, I swear.

One Dot Blashphemy

Girl accused of blasphemy for a spelling error

ABBOTTABAD PAKISTAN: It may have been a mere misplaced dot that led to accusations of blasphemy against a Christian eighth-grader, whose miniscule error led to her expulsion from school and uproar amongst local religious leaders.

Faryal Bhatti, a student at the Sir Syed Girls High School in Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) colony Havelian, erroneously misspelt a word in an Urdu exam while answering a question on a poem written in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The word in question was ‘laanat’ instead of ‘naat’ – an easy error for a child to make, as the written versions of the words are similar.

According to the school administration and religious leaders who took great exception to the hapless student’s mistake, the error is ‘serious’ enough to fall within the realm of blasphemy, Saturday.

Spelling out her punishment

On Thursday, Faryal’s Urdu teacher was collecting the answer sheets from her students when she noticed the apparently offensive word on her pupil’s sheet. The teacher, Fareeda Bibi, reportedly summoned the Christian girl, scolded her and beat her. Her punishment, however, did not end here. When Faryal’s class fellows learnt of the alleged blasphemy, the teacher brought the principal’s notice to the matter, who further informed the school management.

In the meanwhile, the news spread throughout the colony. The next day, male students of the POF colony school as well as certain religious elements took out a rally, demanding the registration of a criminal case against the eighth-grader and her expulsion from the area.

Pretty twisted, eh? Spell a single word wrong on a test and get beaten for it, then get charged with blasphemy, then have the whole town rise up and demand that your entire family get thrown out of the district. So much for tolerance and compassion. Another example of the harsh insanity of pisslam, where their god is so weak that he needs constant protection and can’t take the least amount of criticism, difference of opinion, or even a minuscule spelling error.

I saw this at Weasel Zippers and followed the link to the source, then found that bit of news at a couple of other sources. While I have to agree that this is an over the top reaction worthy of a bunch of rapid lunatics, there is a bit of a media twist going on here. The truth does not justify the reaction, but it does explain some of it ... and I seem to be the only one who has made the attempt to find it.

This was not just any old test in Urdu, the language of Pakistan. Urdu is spoken like Hindu, but written like Arabic I gather. This was what was called a “na’at test”, a special kind of language exam where a special class of poem is deconstructed and analyzed. The same kind of nonsense you had to suffer through in Freshman English.  Ok, fine, it’s a poetry exam. So what? Well, a “na’at” is a special kind of poem, one that is written specifically to praise Mohammed. I have no idea if they all follow the same form, like haiku or iambic pentameter, but the entire category of na’at shareef (exalted poetry) exists for no other purpose. Words of praise for their prophet.

La’nat, on the other hand, is something akin to a witch’s spell. It’s a kind of a prayer to Allah asking for pain, suffering, damnation, or a removal of holy grace from your enemy It’s their conceptual “God damn”, but they REALLY mean it when they say it.

I’d fault the phonetic Arabic writing system for this one, that allows one small dot - a stress point or an accent symbol I think - to change a piety into a holy curse. It’s like writing an ‘N’ where you wanted to write an ‘M’, in a language where ‘Migger’ is a great and glorious accolade. And thus improperly identifying such a piety AS a curse would be quite insulting. If you were an intolerant crazy just looking to be insulted that is. The kind of rebellious nasty thing that an already socially outcast teenager might do out of spite, or that sense of “ooh, look how subtly ironic I am, and they’re all too stupid to notice or appreciate it” that seems to be a worldwide affliction of youth. A real teacher would have known the student, and known what her intent was, and dealt with it.

So that explains that. What any sane teacher would have done at most is to give the kid an F, maybe a bit of detention, and then forget about it. That is, after meeting with the girl and asking her what a na’at and a la’nat are. Heck, if the kid doesn’t know the difference, then it’s the teacher’s fault, yes? But I can’t see her not knowing at least what a na’at is; WTH, they were having an exam on it. Maybe they hadn’t covered la’ats yet, and this could in truth be a simple spelling error. In which case you explain how that one dot is the blasting cap that explodes a major faux pas, and then you forget about it. You don’t rat out the girl to the rest of the class, then to the principal, then to the “religious authorities”, then press criminal charges, then hound the single parent family out of town. That’s what insane people do.

Personally, if Allah can’t handle a bit of insult, then he isn’t much of a god in my opinion. And if people go insane in their reaction to something as small as this, then they are showing just how weak and doubt filled their own faith is, aren’t they? And just how hateful and intolerant they are of everyone, which shows that 75 generations of being good little muslims hasn’t done diddly to elevate them above savagery.

Next Time For Sure

Saudi king allows women to vote in local elections

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah said women in the conservative Islamic kingdom will have the right to join the advisory Shura Council as full members and participate in future municipal elections, meeting a key goal of liberal activists.

“Because we refuse to marginalise women in society in all roles that comply with sharia, we have decided, after deliberation with our senior ulama (clerics) and others… to involve women in the Shura Council as members, starting from the next term,” he said in a speech delivered to the Shura Council.

“Women will be able to run as candidates in the municipal election and will even have a right to vote,” he added.

Activists in the country have long called for greater rights for women, who are barred from travelling, working or having medical operations without the permission of a male relative and are forbidden from driving.

Those changes will come after municipal elections this Thursday, for which women have been barred from voting or standing office.

Yeah right. And the word of their absolute monarch makes the decree effective ... next time. Gosh. Color me unimpressed.

Of course, should those women go to the polls by themselves, or without a supervisory male relative, or drive a car to get there, or vote how they want instead of how they’re told, they’ll be arrested, beaten, raped, and probably executed ... or just killed by their own relatives.

I wonder if they’ll have special female ballots that will only count 1/4th as much as the men’s ballots? That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Another load of shiite from the religion of piss.

How To Put An Airline Out Of Business

via Roger via SondraK

Southwest Airlines, Feds Investigate Arabic Markings on Planes

Hey, I wonder if it says

الصاروخ المستهدف هنا

? (click)

Mysterious messages that appeared to be scrawled in Arabic writing on the underbellies of several Southwest Airlines jets were being investigated Wednesday by the airline and the FBI, Los Angeles radio station KNX-1070 reported.

The graffiti, which began appearing in February on 737-model planes, has been found more often in recent weeks, according to the report.

The writing appears to have been etched using a chemical process and is visible only after an auxiliary power unit is turned on.

Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Brandy King confirmed that the company is “conducting an internal investigation.” The FBI and Transportation Security Administration were also making enquiries.

The airline denied that the vandalism posed a safety or security threat.

It is now SEPTEMBER. The “graffiti” has been appearing for EIGHT MONTHS now.

It’s vandalism? It’s no safety or security threat? “Graffiti” put on using a special hi-tech paint or substance that only becomes visible in the presence of an electro-magnetic field, or when the wing or tail surface heaters are activated? (what else could an auxiliary power unit do, on the outside of a plane?)

So, it’s obvious that Southwest Airlines has such piss poor security on their planes and/or their ground crews that this can happen, time after time, for most of a year. I’m sure that will really make you feel confident and secure, right? Because really, you’d better be: you are betting your life - literally - when you buy a ticket and board one of their planes. I’m absolutely 100% certain that there is nothing else on any of their planes that they don’t know about, right? Right?

Hey, I’ve got Southwest tickets for $50! Any takers?

[crickets chirping][more crickets chirping][still more crickets chirping]

I didn’t think so.

“Nothing to see here, move along!”

Teach Your Children Well

9/11 Coloring Book

an introduction to history for small children, or a lever to teach hatred and prejudice?

image

We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids Book of Freedom is a coloring book about the tragic events of 9/11 2001, featuring pictures of the burning World Trade Center towers and the execution of Osama bin Laden.

Although Wayne Bell, publisher of Really Big Coloring Books Inc., in Saint Louis, says the book was never meant to be controversial, and that it’s simply based on market research, on what people are looking for, the fact that it contains scenes like Osama bin Laden being shot by a Navy SEAL has sparked some controversy. Bell goes on to describe the coloring book as “a simplistic honest tool” to “educate children on events on 9/11″, but do kids who still like to color need to see scenes of mourning, burning buildings, and the execution of a Muslim man portrayed as hiding behind his veiled wife?

The entire first printing run has sold out, but more copies are on the way. At least I hope so.. I see that a pack of 10 of them is for sale on eBay.

The original book We Shall Never Forget 9/11 - The Kids Book of Freedom, will completely sell out soon and is no longer available at wholesale pricing. We Shall Never Forget is the fastest selling book in our company history; traveling to 157 countries, YES, 157 countries, via email, download or regular mail in less than three weeks. Once these last few original copies sell out, this book will no longer be available from the Publisher, Really Big Coloring Books, Inc. Thank you to all.

To the American people and all others who may read this child’s coloring book, We Shall Never Forget is designed (8.5” x 11”, 36 pages.) to be a tool that parents can use to help teach children about the facts surrounding 9/11. This book also describes basic freedoms in America. We suggest parental guidance. As the 9/11 events are shown countless times on national media, this book will help children understand the meaning of these events. The book was created with honesty, integrity, reverence, respect and does not shy away from the truth. In this book you will see what happens to a terrorist who orders others to bomb our peace loving wonderful nation.

The September 11, 2001 attacks on America are now commonly referred to as 9/11. It was a series of coordinated attacks by a radical Islamic Muslim extremist terrorist group who call themselves Al Qaeda. They were self-proclaimed Jihadists; many American people refer to them as homicide bombers. Their leader was a Saudi national named Osama Bin Laden. He and his men used hijacked U.S. airplanes as weapons.

OTOH ...

Believing that the upcoming 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 is best memorialized in crayon, Really Big Coloring Books, Inc. is publishing a new coloring book entitled “We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids’ Book of Freedom.” In offering kids the option of coloring the Twin Towers burning, mourning survivors, or the Navy SEALs shooting Osama Bin Laden, publisher Wayne Bell insists that “the doodles represent patriotism,” a “simplistic, honest tool” to “help educate children on events on 9/11.” But many Muslims describe it as, in a word, “disgusting.”

Fun With Killing Bin Laden: Coloring books are meant to inspire children’s creativity, but the new “We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids’ Book of Freedom” channels that impulse in a shocking direction. Published by Really Big Coloring Book Inc. and intended as a “learning tool” to help teachers explain the terrorist attacks, the book features a page showing a SEAL firing a bullet straight at Bin Laden, who is shown (inaccurately, as it turns out) using a woman as a human shield — more or less challenging tot artists to fill in their own splatter and gore. Publisher Wayne Bell defends the page as being “mild compared to the graphic video games children play,” but since when is a coloring book judged by those standards? [Chicago Tribune]

Not really mentioned in the few reviews and news stories that covered this is that the author added a fair amount of text to the book. So it isn’t just for those kids too young to read, unless the text is there for the parents to help tell the story?

Welcome To Our World

Iran: Chinese korans total POS!!!

LOL  smile surprised  LOL  smile surprised  LOL  smile surprised

Iran says cheap “Made in China” Qurans full of typos

Iran’s Organization of the Holy Quran is scolding Iranian publishers who’ve outsourced production of the holy book to Chinese printers.

Apparently, their copies of the Quran are riddled with typos, according to the Tehran Times.

“These tableaus are made quite cheaply in China but are sold for much more than they are really worth to make that much more profit,” said an official with the organization who monitors and evaluates Qurans available in Iran.

The official even urged importers to halt future Quran shipments from China, the Times reported.

If you’re keeping score at home, China is accused of shipping out seafood laden with putrefying bacteria, toys laden with lead, totally fake eggs and, now, tainted Qurans.

I think this one gets filed under “no shit, Shamir”. Welcome to the real world; everything made in China is third rate crap.
