Power Food

Hmmm.  Deep Fried, Bacon-Wrapped, Cheese-Filled Hot Dogs.  What could be better?

BACON, CHEESE AND BEER DOG

Ingredients:
1 hot dog
1 slice of thick-cut bacon
1 can of spray cheese
1 can beer (It doesn’t matter what kind, but we recommend something dark. Corona probably isn’t a good idea)
1 cup flour
Oil for frying

Instructions:
This one is a little work-intensive, so be ready to buckle down. First take the center out of the hot dog with an apple corer, if you have access to one. If not, just cut out the middle with a knife. Fill the cavity with the spray cheese and use the hot dog you removed from the middle as a cap to keep the cheese in. Wrap the bacon around the hot dog and deep-fry for two to four minutes or until bacon is cooked. Dab them dry with a paper towel (so the batter will stick). Mix the beer with the flour until it reaches a thick, but lump-free consistency. Dip the dogs in the batter, coating the dog completely, and deep-fry on high heat for two to three minutes or until brown and deadly.
NOTE: Don’t fry them too long or all of the cheese will explode out into the oil. That’s very bad.

Astronaut Story Follow-Up

I’m glad the Navy is doing the right thing with this woman. She still faces criminal charges and the Navy is going to postpone judgment until that case plays out. In the end she will probably be forced out of the Navy but in the meantime she can receive psychiatric care and work on getting her life (and her head) back together. After all, how many of us can claim to never have done anything this incredibly stupid in our lives? Think glass houses and stones, people ...

Astronaut Dismissed By NASA, Will Take Navy Assignment
(WASHINGTON POST) - Thursday, March 8, 2007

Astronaut Lisa M. Nowak has been dismissed by NASA and will return to active duty in the Navy, officials said yesterday. Nowak has been charged with attempted kidnapping and other felonies in connection with a late-night encounter in Florida with a woman she saw as a rival for the affections of astronaut William A. Oefelein, a Navy commander.

Navy spokeswoman Lydia Robertson said Nowak will begin her new assignment on March 21, working with the Chief of Naval Air Training in Corpus Christi, Tex. Navy officials have said they will decide whether Nowak should face military charges after her criminal case runs its course.

The public dismissal of Nowak appears to be the first in the history of the astronaut corps, said space historian Roger D. Launius of the Smithsonian Institution. He said Nowak is also the first active-duty astronaut charged with a felony.

Nowak, 43, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted kidnapping and burglary with assault, stemming from her Feb. 5 confrontation at Orlando International Airport with Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman. Nowak was released on bail and is wearing a monitoring device on her ankle.

“Private” Property

The notion of private property is one ingrained into our cultural concience.  We value it very highly, as evidenced by the severe backloash over the Kelo decision by the SCOTUS last year.  But what are your children learning about private property from their teachers?  If they are in Government school, you can bet your kitten that they are learning that private property is a bad thing.

A simple example that Neal Boortz has been touting for years is the annual “School Supplied Shuffle”, whereby kids are told which supplies they need to buy for the upcoming year, then when they arrive in class for the first day, all those supplies are gathered into one pile to be used by those who need them, when they need them.  Thos sissors and crayons and glue sticks that your child painstakingly picked out for his very own immediately become the property of the state, to be distributed to those who need them.  “From each according to his ability, to each acording to his need”

I now read of a bed-wetting liberal teacher in the Seattle area who has taken it a step further.  The full article is subscription only, but you can see the gist here.

As they watched their elementary-age students playing with Legos, Ann Pelo and Kendra Pelojoaquin saw some disturbing trends.

In the current issue they describe how some kids hoarded the “best” pieces, denied their classmates any access at all to the pretend town they were building, and displayed other undesirable behavior surrounding ownership and the social power it conveys.

So the teachers banned Legos, and worked with the kids to surface the issues raised by the ways they had been using the popular building blocks.

Makes me want to puke.

Furball Of The Day

Every once in a while the News Cat here at BMEWS coughs up a furball and we just have to share it. Today’s furball involves France, an insane Muslim and a gynecologist. What more could you ask for? Here, kitty-kitty-kitty ...

French Muslim Jailed For Attacking Gynecologist
PARIS (Reuters) - Friday, 26 January 2007

imageimageA French Muslim who attacked a male gynecologist for examining his wife just after she had given birth, saying it was against Islam, has been jailed for six months by a Paris court.

Fouad ben Moussa burst into the delivery room at a Paris hospital last November and shoved, slapped and insulted Dr Jean-Francois Oury as he examined the woman after a complicated birth, the prosecution said in court on Wednesday. Police had to intervene to remove him.

Ben Moussa, a 23-year-old lorry driver, apologised for the attack and said he had requested a female doctor. French state hospitals comply with such requests when staffing permits but say patients must accept treatment from the doctors on duty.

“This is a public and secular place,” prosecution lawyer Georges Holleaux said of the state hospital where the attack occurred. “This is not the place where one can invoke religion to get different treatment.”

French media have reported cases in recent years of Muslim men barring male doctors from treating their wives, sometimes resorting to violence, but legal cases against them are rare.

France’s five million Muslims make up eight per cent of the French population, Europe’s largest Islamic minority.

Barking Moonbat Of The Week

Even on Christmas Eve, the people with broken brains long for attention. Some more so than others ....

Man Sets Self Aflame In Calif. Protest
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Dec 23, 10:48 AM EST

A man used flammable liquid to light himself on fire, apparently to protest a San Joaquin Valley school district’s decision to change the names of winter and spring breaks to Christmas and Easter vacation. The man, who was not immediately identified, on Friday also set fire to a Christmas tree, an American flag and a revolutionary flag replica, said Fire Captain Garth Milam.

Seeing the flames, Sheriff’s Deputy Lance Ferguson grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran to the man. Flames were devouring a Christmas tree next to the Liberty Bell, where public events and demonstrations are common. Beside the tree the man stood with an American flag draped around his shoulders and a red gas can over his head.

Seeing the deputy, the man poured the liquid over his head. He quickly burst into flames when the fumes from the gas met the flames from the tree. The deputy ordered the man to drop to the ground as he and a parole agent sprayed him with fire extinguishers. “The man stood there like this,” the deputy said with his arms across his chest and his head bent down, “Saying no, no, no.”

The man suffered first degree burns on his shoulders and arms, Milam said. Kern County Sheriff’s Deputy John Leyendecker said the man had a sign that read: “(expletive) the religious establishment and KHSD.” On Thursday, the Kern High School Board of Trustees voted to use the names Christmas and Easter instead of winter and spring breaks.

Don’t Tread On Me

This came across our radar screen from LGF. You may be surprised to learn that we live in a country where burning the American flag is protected as freedom of speech but burning the flags of terrorist organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas is considered “hate speech” and will get you thrown off of certain college campuses ... at least in San Francisco.

I only wish I could live long enough to witness the San Andreas Fault dump the whole lot in the Pacific. With any luck the pollution level in that ocean might revert back to normal after a few million years. All those weirdos and whackos being digested by sharks could hurt the shark population though. It’s a tradeoff I can live with ...

ASI Passes Resolution Against Flag Stomping
(GOLDEN GATE EXPRESS) - November 28, 2006 08:48 PM

imageimagePreceding an ongoing investigation into SF State College Republican behavior, the Associated Students board unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the student group for purposely stomping on flags containing the Arabic symbol for God.

“Associated Students, Inc. deems the College Republicans’ actions as contrary to university values and feel they should be held accountable by the university for their actions,” the resolution says.

The Nov. 15 resolution comes on the heels of several student and student organization complaints at board meetings and the Office of Student Programs and Leadership Development, or OSPLD, which has also sparked a separate investigation and assembly of a special panel to decide if the College Republicans did indeed violate the university’s conduct rules.

The resolution cited a rule outlined in the university’s Strategic Plan saying, “SFSU facilitates teaching, learning and work experiences among students, faculty and staff that promote equity and social justice within a respectful and safe environment.”

Moreover, the resolution sets the stage for the College Republicans possibly losing official student group status and or ASi funding. Amid heavy campus police presence at an Oct. 17 anti-terrorism rally in Malcolm X Plaza, some members of the crowd turned angry when the College Republicans stepped on homemade Hezbollah and Hamas flags, though the student group claims they were not initially aware the flags contained the Arabic symbol for God.

After that, the College Republican-organized rally dissolved into a heated shouting match between the group and a mix of students, including some Muslim students, eventually resulting in formal complaints to student representatives.

‘They were voicing their concerns that this event was even allowed. They were offended,” said Kimberly Castillo, board member and chair of University Affairs, the committee that drafted the resolution. “We felt it our duty to respond.”

The College Republicans said they will take legal action against the university if sanctions are imposed upon them, citing their First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Psycho

You’re mad ... all of you. Totally insane. Around the bend. Fruit loops, even! Or so says a new study out of Southern Connecticut State University. Yes, I’m talking to you - you certifiably insane Bush-lover. All of you need to have your heads examined. Maybe then you’ll wise up and vote for Kerry ... in which case you’ll not only be barking mad but certifiably stoopid ....

Are George W. Bush Lovers Certifiable?
(NEW HAVEN ADVOCATE)

imageimageA collective “I told you so” will ripple through the world of Bush-bashers once news of Christopher Lohse’s study gets out. Lohse, a social work master’s student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush.

Lohse says his study is no joke. The thesis draws on a survey of 69 psychiatric outpatients in three Connecticut locations during the 2004 presidential election. Lohse’s study, backed by SCSU Psychology professor Jaak Rakfeldt and statistician Misty Ginacola, found a correlation between the severity of a person’s psychosis and their preferences for president: The more psychotic the voter, the more likely they were to vote for Bush.

But before you go thinking all your conservative friends are psychotic, listen to Lohse’s explanation. “Our study shows that psychotic patients prefer an authoritative leader,” Lohse says. “If your world is very mixed up, there’s something very comforting about someone telling you, ‘This is how it’s going to be.’”

The study was an advocacy project of sorts, designed to register mentally ill voters and encourage them to go to the polls, Lohse explains. The Bush trend was revealed later on.

The study used Modified General Assessment Functioning, or MGAF, a 100-point scale that measures the functioning of disabled patients. A second scale, developed by Rakfeldt, was also used. Knowledge of current issues, government and politics were assessed on a 12-item scale devised by the study authors.

“Bush supporters had significantly less knowledge about current issues, government and politics than those who supported Kerry,” the study says.

Kraziness Goes To Korea

The Cindy Media Whore 2006 world tour continues this week in South Korea to sold out audiences of riot police, military police and the usual crowd of brain-dead liberals attempting to alleviate their painful existence in a life of mediocrity. It’s bad enough that we have to put up with Kim Jung Il and his pathetic attempts to get attention with his firecrackers but now Sheehan has to go to Korea to try to upstage the madman.

Don’t these people have jobs? Where do they get the money to go on tour around the world with this insanity?  Was Cindy Sheehan neglected as a child and now must make up for it with this performance for the cameras? Does this crazy woman have no shame or sense of dignity? Is it any wonder Casey ran away from her and joined the Army?

I know. I ask way too many questions. Maybe Cindy will sneak across the DMZ and hook up with Kim Jung Il. Now that would be newsworthy. Can you imagine the offspring from that union? Wait! Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to create any visual images at this point ...

US Activists Protest Larger South Korea Bases
SEOUL (AFP) - Tue Nov 21, 9:01 AM ET

imageimageA group of US peace activists led by Cindy Sheehan staged a protest outside the headquarters of American troops, urging a halt to the relocation of US military bases in South Korea.

The 18 protesters led by Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq more than two years ago, rallied outside Yongsan Garrison after their request to see the commander in chief of US forces in Korea, General Burwell Bell, was turned down.

They tried to make their way through dozens of South Korean riot police carrying shields who were blocking access to the gate.

Shouting slogans such as “Stop US military base expansion!” and “Stop repression in Pyeongtaek!” the protesters held up their US passports and asked police to get out of their way.

The US forces want to consolidate 35 US bases scattered across South Korea into two hub bases by 2008—one in Pyeongtaek, 70 kilometers (45 miles) south of Seoul, and the other in Daegu City, 300 kilometers southeast of the capital.

Yongsan is among the bases which will close. The construction of a US base at Pyeongtaek has met strong protests from activists and villagers who have to be evacuated from their homes or farmland.

“Believe me, we will be passing along these concerns (of villagers) to the Pentagon, to the Congress, to the people of America and we will be doing every thing we can as Americans to correct this situation in South Korea,” Sheehan told journalists.

Medea Benjamin, founder of Code Pink, a US women’s peace organization, said: “There is no way that I feel my family will be more secure or that Korean families will feel more secure by expanding the Camp Humphreys base (in Pyeongtaek) and taking land from people who have farmed there for generations.”

The group travelled to Pyeongtaek on Monday and joined some 100 people from Daechuri village for their 820th consecutive candlelight vigil against the expansion of the base.

South Korea hosts some 29,500 US troops under a mutual defense treaty signed following the 1950-1953 Korean War.

The Diebold Conspiracy

Whew! That was a close one. We certainly dodged a major bullet in the recent election, didn’t we? Of course I’m referring to the hackers who were going to break into the Diebold voting machines as well as Hugo Chavez who also planned to tinker with the boxes to steal the election from Democrats ... AGAIN!

Is it just me or does anyone else smell a rat? A DemocRAT? The lamestream media and practically every talking head in the Democratic party has been spewing one conspiracy theory after another for months now about how the Diebold voting machines were going to be hacked and another election would be stolen from the Donks.

So, what happened? The Donks won and ... the tinfoil hat brigade went silent. Whazzup wid dat? If I didn’t know better, I’d say the Donks and their liberal pals in the MSM were merely paving the path for a gazillion lawsuits to contest the election if they lost. There is just way too much tinfoil on the Left nowadays for it not to be a concerted effort to disguise their own sleazy plots to rig elections.

I demand a Congressional investigation. I want to know why the Diebold machines worked so well after all. There’s something fishy going on here and I intend to get to the bottom of it .... after I re-adjust my tinfoil hat, that is ....

Electronic Voting: The Catastrophe that Wasn’t
After election, media silent on left-wing claims of Diebold-Bush conspiracy
(BUSINESS & MEDIA INSTITUTE) - 11/15/2006 2:30:56 PM

imageimageLike claims the U.S. was responsible for 9/11 and Republicans were fixing gas prices, the media promoted the left-wing electronic vote-rigging conspiracy. Now that the votes have been cast and counted, Republicans lost, and the silence of the national media has been deafening.

The idea was that somehow the company Diebold had programmed the machines to let Republicans win. The theory, perpetuated by left-wingers posting on Daily Kos and The Huffington Post and Bev Harris’ book, “Black Box Voting,” was embraced by all three broadcast networks, as well as CNN and MSNBC.

Following Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) defeat in 2004, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann ignored statements by the candidate’s own Ohio attorney about the lack of evidence of “confirmed fraud.” Instead, Olbermann ranted for days about fraud causing the Kerry defeat during his show “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”

Leading up to the 2006 election. Lou Dobbs and Kitty Pilgrim waged a five-month long, two-person war against electronic voting in regular “Democracy at Risk” segments during CNN’s “Lou Dobbs Tonight.”

Dobbs fostered mistrust of electronic voting throughout his broadcasts. “When it comes to the federal government, don’t expect much assurance that your electronic vote will be counted accurately. New standards for electronic voting machines may not be ready in fact, for years,” he warned on Oct. 29, 2006.

And on election day 2006, NBC’s Brian Williams said there were complaints of “plain old trickery at the polls.” As Williams tossed the story to reporter Chip Reid, the response came, “Well, most of it, Brian, is electronic voting.”

Ironically, electronic voting went national because of a bipartisan push for election reform after the disastrous 2000 Florida recount. But that bipartisan support for such voting machines turned into allegations and conspiracy theories after the 2004 elections.

Before the 2006 election, news media were buzzing about the dangers of electronic voting, parroting left-wing vote-stealing conspiracies and even warning that Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez might sway the results. That story was forgotten almost as soon as the ballots were tallied.

But from 2004 to Nov. 7, 2006, the media dragged the Diebold Corp. – the largest of the four makers of electronic voting machines – through the mud. Some even went so far as to color Diebold as a potential election thief.

“The CEO of the company last year held a fund-raiser for the Republicans, and he said that he believed his job was to make sure that he got every delegate in Ohio voting for George W. Bush,” NBC reporter Tom Costello said of Diebold on Olbermann’s MSNBC show Oct. 20, 2004. “That is the CEO of a company that is making voting machines. You can understand why there’s some mistrust out there.”

Despite CEO Walden O’Dell’s resignation from Diebold in late 2005, the media continued the onslaught. CBS Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian did a story on suspicion of the corporation on Nov. 1, 2006, “Evening News.” “Diebold is the largest supplier of electronic voting machines. The absolute control over the election process that a company like Diebold potentially could have from tabulation to the software that’s inside, to the certification, it’s concerning to people.”

The media interviewed liberal experts critical of Diebold or those who believed elections had been rigged. Bev Harris, author of “Black Box Voting,” was interviewed or mentioned in stories by all five networks. Harris has been lionized by liberals, called “heroine” by the left-wing site Buzzflash.com and has held a joint press conference with Ralph Nader.

Another expert critical of Diebold was David Dill of Stanford University and founder of VerifiedVoting.org. He popped up on CBS, CNN and MSNBC. “That person who hacked the machine could be an insider, even a programmer at the company,” said Dill during a discussion about the possibility of hacking Diebold machines on CBS “Evening News.” That was May 1, 2004. What the networks didn’t say is that Dill is listed as a contributor to the liberal Huffington Post blog.

Although it wasn’t a news program, HBO too featured Diebold prominently in a documentary titled “Hacking Democracy” the week before the 2006 election. Meanwhile, on the Oct. 20, 2006, edition of ABC’s “The View,” Rosie O’Donnell accused Diebold of cheating Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) out of the presidency in 2004.

“What was he doing conceding the day after when the votes weren’t all counted and they were cheating with the Diebold machines?” O’Donnell asked. In reality, when election day rolled around there were not many fingers left pointing at Diebold, although ABC News did mention one. Democratic Senate candidate Harold Ford, Jr. worried about “Diebold machines not working” during Nov. 7, 2006 “World News Tonight with Charles Gibson.”

“I guess Diebold has finally been vindicated,” quipped conservative commentator Ann Coulter in her Nov. 8, 2006, column.

The Pogroms Begin

Well, that didn’t take long. I suppose it is only fitting that today is the 68th anniversary of Kristallnacht. If you don’t know what that was, go read the article at Wikipedia ... and while you’re there look up ”pogrom”.

Do any of you still think the lunatics on the Left will let this opportunity get by them? Lock and load, boys and girls. We are now entering what the Chinese call “interesting times” ....

“Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation is a step in the right direction,” said Anthony D. Romero, ACLU Executive Director. “Rumsfeld is responsible for the torture and abuse of detainees in U. S. military custody and must be held accountable for the failures that occurred on his watch. He has placed the blame on junior military members and has been nothing but derelict in his duty. Congress must initiate an immediate and exhaustive investigation into his six-year-long record of unlawful activity, violations of the rule of law and complicity in the executive branch abuse of power.

-- ACLU: “Rumsfeld Resignation a Step in the Right Direction”

“Donald Rumsfeld may be looking forward to living out his golden years at his vacation home on the Eastern Shore, but lawyers who represent detainees at Guantánamo Bay have other ideas. In a message just sent to reporters, they say they intend to file war crimes charges against Rumsfeld next week in Germany, arguing that his departure from the Department of Defense means that he’s no longer entitled to immunity from prosecution. “

Most Ridiculous Item Of The Week

How many things can you find wrong with this story? I count eight.

Naked Man Arrested for Concealed Weapon
EL CERRITO, Calif. - November 4, 2006, 12:41 AM EST

imageimageA man was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon after police found him outdoors—naked—and he told them he had a tool in his rectum, authorities said.

The man was lying on a tree stump, masturbating beside a nature path, near a Bay Area Rapid Transit station Thursday, police said.

John Sheehan, 33, of Pittsburg, was initially arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure. But when asked whether he was carrying anything police should know about, Sheehan mentioned the tool, said El Cerrito Detective Cpl. Don Horgan.

“You can’t get much more concealed than that,” Horgan said. Officers drew their weapons and firefighters were called to the scene. Sheehan removed a 6-inch metal awl wrapped in black electrical tape without incident.

Sheehan, who was paroled from state prison last week, was then booked into jail on suspicion of parole violations, indecent exposure and one felony count of possessing a concealed weapon.

“When you’re talking about an awl or an ice pick and you’re dealing with somebody who’s fresh out of prison, it’s a weapon. That’s a stabbing instrument,” Horgan said.

It was not immediately clear what Sheehan was on parole for. A person answering the phone at the jail Friday night did not know whether Sheehan had a lawyer.

Lunatic Of The Day

imageimageMom Accused of Swinging
Baby As Weapon

ERIE, Pa. -October 9, 2006, 2:39 PM EDT

A woman used her 4-week-old baby as a weapon in a domestic dispute, swinging the infant through the air and striking her boyfriend with the child, authorities said.

The boy was in serious but stable condition Monday at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, police said.

“Never, never, never. I can never remember anything like this,” District Attorney Bradley Foulk told the Erie Times-News.

Chytoria Graham, 27, of Erie, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. She was held Monday in the Erie County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The infant, whose name was not released, suffered a fractured skull and some bleeding in the brain, authorities said. His head hit Graham’s boyfriend, the baby’s father, police Lt. Dan Spizarny said.

Authorities removed four other children from Graham’s home and placed them with the Erie County Office of Children and Youth, Foulk said.

The Shadow Knows

He’s back home in Venezuela ... and he hasn’t stopped babbling yet. I certainly hope Jimmy Carter, Danny Glover, Harry Belafonte and Cindy Sheehan are real proud of their little buddy. It’s funny, but I haven’t heard a word out of any of them in the last few days. Have they finally realized their South American friend is a certified loon? I doubt it - because then they would have to admit that they are just as insane themselves for befriending this crackpot.

Chavez Says President Bush Should Resign
CARACAS, Venezuela - September 23, 2006, 1:45 AM EDT

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez launched yet another verbal assault against President Bush upon returning from a highly charged U.S. visit Friday, calling on the American leader to resign. “He should renounce the presidency if he has any dignity. The president of the United States has failed completely,” Chavez said at the inauguration of a natural gas project in northwestern Venezuela.

It was Chavez’s first appearance since returning from the United States, where he called Bush “the devil” at the United Nations’ General Assembly and later criticized him in a speech to supporters at a church in Harlem. “The imperialist government of the United States says we have failed but they are the ones that have failed in everything you see,” he said Friday.

He accused the Bush administration of fueling terrorism, claimed that both the CIA and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration were “infiltrated” by drug traffickers, and urged people to divest their dollars because new bills were being “fabricated.” In an interview broadcast Friday Chavez kept up his attack.

“I think it was a rather humorous speech,” Chavez told TV and radio host Tavis Smiley in a PBS broadcast. “People were smiling.” But then added, “(Bush) considers himself a god. And that is a terrible manipulation, since this is obeying interests that are against God. And since he considers himself like God, when you call him the devil, it is just to strike a balance.”

Saturday Silliness

The “Reverend” Fred Phelps has a bone to pick with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central’s Daily Show. This video was captured from Phelp’s hate-filled web site. Phelps is a living parody of himself and probably could use a long stay in a nice “insitution” out in the countryside. I’m sure Nurse Ratchet can help him overcome his affliction ....

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
