Don’t Touch

Question: How many first-graders can even spell “S-E-X” much less “H-A-R-A-S-S-M-E-N-T”? Best I recall, at that age, I was convinced all girls had major cooties and were utterly useless creatures who played with stupid dolls (little did I know how right I was).

Now what has this school accomplished here? They have emotionally scarred this young boy for life and the little girl has learned a valuable lesson that will gain her either a promotion or a hefty sum in a lawsuit in about 20 years. Madness, I tells ya. Complete, total madness ....

First Grader Suspended for Harassment
February 8, 2006, 1:23 PM EST
BROCKTON, Mass. (AP)

A first grader was suspended for three days after school officials said he sexually harassed a girl in his class by allegedly putting two fingers inside the girl’s waistband while she sat on the floor in front of him. The boy’s mother, Berthena Dorinvil, said she “screamed” about last week’s suspension from Downey Elementary School, and added her son doesn’t know what sexual harassment is.

“He doesn’t know those things,” she told The Enterprise of Brockton. “He’s only 6 years old.” School officials declined comment to The Enterprise, citing the child’s age. “They would have not suspended the child without doing an investigation,” said spokeswoman Cynthia McNally.

Dorinvil said the school principal, Diane Gosselin, called her to pick up her son Jan. 30. She said her son asked the principal if the police were going to come get him. The principal told Dorinvil the girl complained to the teacher after her son touched the girl’s waistband, hitting her skin, in a room full of children. Dorinvil said her son told her he touched the girl’s shirt, not her skin, after the girl touched him.

New Rules for School Children

Every day I see a story that makes me more confident in our decision to homeschool.

British school bans raising hands

LONDON, Jan. 28 (UPI)—A school in London has banned children from raising their hands in class and teachers from calling on students with their hands raised.

“It is every child’s instinct and every teacher’s instinct as well because it is ingrained in us,” said Andrew Buck, the school’s principal.

“Some pupils are jiggling so much to attract the teacher’s attention that it sometimes looks as if they need the lavatory, then when it is their turn they often don’t know the answer. Boys—and it is usually boys [emph mine - FC]-- are seeking attention, so they put their hands up before they have had time to think about the question.”

Buck said the same children often wave their arms in the air, but when teachers try to involve less adventurous pupils by choosing them instead, it leads to feelings of victimization, the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

To spare embarrassment of the students who do not know the answer, the school has incorporated a “phone a friend” system, allowing one child to nominate another to take the question instead

Yup, it’s those industrious boys being the cause of all the ills.  Good grief.

Another Teacher Creature Feature

Now this is getting ridiculous. Really. No, I’m not referring to this latest teacher-student-sex escapade. I’m referring to her name. Cameo Patch? What’s up with that? And what’s up with this “informant” crap? It seems neither the student or the teacher could keep their mouths shut ...

imageimageSexy Substitute Teacher Has Relations With Boy
Woman, 29, facing up to 5 years for illicit activity with 17-year-old
(WORLDNETDAILY)

A 29-year-old substitute teacher in Utah is facing felony charges for allegedly performing oral sex on a 17-year-old male student. Cameo Patch was a fill-in instructor at Tooele High School, and was arrested after an informant disclosed her alleged relationship with the boy. The pair reportedly met in the classroom, but engaged in the alleged wrongdoing off campus after school. All indications are the sexual activity was consensual.

According to the police report, “… [Patch] and the juvenile met in a local restaurant, exchanged phone numbers, and arranged to meet to talk later in the evening. During the course of the meeting between the two, sexual activity between [Patch] and the juvenile occurred.” The informant stated Patch “performed oral sex” on the student, but did not engage in sexual intercourse.

The teacher has been charged with the third-degree felony of “unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old,” though she was originally charged with misdemeanor lewdness. Prosecutors say the felony applies in this case because the assailant is at least ten years older than the minor. The Tooele County School District issued a statement saying it “has removed [Patch] from the substitute pool.”

The woman, who faces up to five years in prison, has her initial court appearance slated for Feb. 6. This latest case joins a long list of women who have been accused or convicted of having illegal sexual activity with children.

Math is Hard

Saw this on Kim’s site and had to pass it along.

Nearing a diploma, most college students cannot handle many complex but common tasks, from understanding credit card offers to comparing the cost per ounce of food.

Those are the sobering findings of a study of literacy on college campuses, the first to target the skills of students as they approach the start of their careers.

More than 50 percent of students at four-year schools and more than 75 percent at two-year colleges lacked the skills to perform complex literacy tasks.

That means they could not interpret a table about exercise and blood pressure, understand the arguments of newspaper editorials, compare credit card offers with different interest rates and annual fees or summarize results of a survey about parental involvement in school.

Let’s see a show of hand of how many of you have been frustrated with the chore of handing a cashier bills and change (so you could get back more usable change) only to see the blank stare of a brook trout while said cashier pondered the significance of what you just did?

But it only gets better.

“This sends a message that we should be monitoring this as a nation, and we don’t do it,” Finney said (Joni Finney, vice president of the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, an independent and nonpartisan group.)

No, Joni, it says that our government education system is a collosal failure.

Almost 20 percent of students pursuing four-year degrees had only basic quantitative skills. For example, the students could not estimate if their car had enough gas to get to the service station. About 30 percent of two-year students had only basic math skills.

The survey showed a strong relationship between analytic coursework and literacy. Students in two-year and four-year schools scored higher when they took classes that challenged them to apply theories to practical problems or weigh competing arguments

Go figure.  When you actually ask the young skulls of much to figure something out (as opposed to just asking for the answer) they actually learn a valuable skill.  Whoda thunk it?

*for those who don’t get the headline, see here.

Most Outrageous Item Of The Day

Unbelievable! Simply unbelievable! The union that represents the nation’s teachers has been exposed for the leftist crooks they are. The NEA union officials pay themselves roughly ten times what the people they represent earn and to top it off they spend $65 million funding leftist organizations of all kinds. Two questions: (1) how does this money they give to these groups help teachers? and (2) what business does a teacher’s union have spending union dues on these blatantly political movements? Is it any wonder your average twelfth grader can’t read, spell or do real math but has a head full of liberal propaganda?

Teachers’ Pets
The NEA gave $65 million in its members’ dues to left-liberal groups last year.
(WSJ OPINION JOURNAL)

If we told you that an organization gave away more than $65 million last year to Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Amnesty International, AIDS Walk Washington and dozens of other such advocacy groups, you’d probably assume we were describing a liberal philanthropy. In fact, those expenditures have all turned up on the financial disclosure report of the National Education Association, the country’s largest teachers union.

Under new federal rules pushed through by Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, large unions must now disclose in much more detail how they spend members’ dues money. Big Labor fought hard (if unsuccessfully) against the new accountability standards, and even a cursory glance at the NEA’s recent filings--the first under the new rules--helps explain why. They expose the union as a honey pot for left-wing political causes that have nothing to do with teachers, much less students.

We already knew that the NEA’s top brass lives large. Reg Weaver, the union’s president, makes $439,000 a year. The NEA has a $58 million payroll for just over 600 employees, more than half of whom draw six-figure salaries. Last year the average teacher made only $48,000, so it seems you’re better off working as a union rep than in the classroom.

Many of the organization’s disbursements--$30,000 to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, $122,000 to the Center for Teaching Quality--at least target groups that ostensibly have a direct educational mission. But many others are a stretch, to say the least. The NEA gave $15,000 to the Human Rights Campaign, which lobbies for “lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equal rights.” The National Women’s Law Center, whose Web site currently features a “pocket guide” to opposing Supreme Court nominee Sam Alito, received $5,000. And something called the Fund to Protect Social Security got $400,000, presumably to defeat personal investment accounts.

The Grinch

I leave it up to the jury here. What penalty should we impose on this Grinch Teacher? Death by hanging’s too good. Lethal injection too humane. How about drawn and quartered? The wrack? Use your imagination ....

imageimageGrinchy Remark Sends
Kids Home in Tears

LICKDALE, Pa. (LEBANON DAILY NEWS)

Jamey Schaeffer stretched her mouth open wide, showing off a pair of twin gaps in her smile. With a mouthful of fingers, she said she has no interest in two front teeth for Christmas. Instead, she’d like a Barbie doll from Santa Claus — and Santa Claus only. But a substitute music teacher almost came between the 6-year-old and a Christmas Eve spent dancing cheek to cheek with sugar plums.

Theresa Farrisi stood in for Schaeffer’s regular music teacher one day last week. One of her assignments was to read Clement C. Moore’s famous poem, “A Visit from Saint Nicholas” to a first-grade class at Lickdale Elementary School. “The poem has great literary value, but it goes against my conscience to teach something which I know to be false to children, who are impressionable,” said Farrisi, 43, of Myerstown. “It’s a story. I taught it as a story. There’s no real person called Santa Claus living at the North Pole.”

Farrisi doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, and she doesn’t think anyone else should, either. She made her feelings clear to the classroom full of 6- and 7-year-olds, some of whom went home crying. Schaeffer got off the school bus later that day, dragging her backpack in the mud, tears in her angry little eyes. “She yelled at me, ‘Why did you lie?’” recalled Jamey’s mother, Elizabeth. “‘Why didn’t you tell me Santa Claus died?’”

Elizabeth Schaeffer said she was appalled by Farrisi’s bluntness. “I had to call the school,” said Schaeffer, a part-time custodial employee for the school district who is on temporary leave after complications from her last child’s birth. “I had to do something.”

Meanwhile, Farrisi, who is well versed on the history of “Santa Claus” — the traditional and literary figure — clarified her comments. “I did not tell the students Santa Claus was dead,” she explained. “I said there was a man named Nickolas of Myrna who died in 343 A.D., upon whom the Santa Claus myth (is based).”

Hot For Teacher, Episode #248

Ho-hum. Another week, another lusty female teacher. This one is from Pensacola, Florida. Where are they finding all of these horny educators? More importantly, why weren’t they hiring them when I was in school back in the Jurassic ...?

imageimageTeacher Accused Of Two-Year
Affair With Her Student

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKMG)

A former Escambia County teacher has been charged with having sex with an underage student at a private school where she taught before working at the public Escambia High School. Janelle Marie Bird, 24, is accused of having a two-year affair with a student from East Hill Christian School.

The boy was 15 when the affair began. Bird was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery and two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, all are second degree felonies. Bird turned herself to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office on Friday and was released after posting a $15,000 bond, The Pensacola News Journal reported Monday.

Bird’s attorney, Jerry T. Allred of Pensacola, did not immediately return a telephone call from The Associated Press seeking comment on the case Monday. If convicted, Bird faces up to 15 years in prison on each count.

Bird left East Hill Christian School in June for a job with the Escambia County School District where she was teaching reading to ninth- and tenth-grade students at Escambia High School when the allegations surfaced.

The Escambia County School Board voted Nov. 22 to fire Bird without cause before her probationary status expired. The board fired Bird after the rumors of the affair surfaced. Because she had not completed enough time with the district, she was still on probation and could be fired without reason at any time.

Kalifornia Racists

I thought Kalifornia was the most liberal state in the union. I believed the state had a diverse population where all races lived together in harmony and nobody cared about skin color. I was wrong. Go figure. If this story below was about some small town in Mississippi in the 1960’s, I could believe it but Kalifornia in the 21st century? Sorry. Does not compute.

Why is anyone in this country today concerned at all about a person’s skin color anymore. I thought those days were over and done. My children are grown and out of school now but when they were younger and in school all I remember caring about was their grades and whether they were learning to read, write and do math and .... you get the picture. I couldn’t have cared less what the skin color was of the person sitting next to my child (unless he or she was green, in which case I was prepared to fight off the Martian invaders).

Seriously, why is anyone concerned with race in this day and age? Is it all Jesse Jackson’s fault? Are the race-baiters winning the war to keep the “racist” pot stirred up (so they can make millions blackmailing)? Who cares? The fact is that we live in a dynamic society and people change jobs and move around all the time. What are these school districts going to do in five or ten years when the neighborhoods have a completely different “complexion” due to families moving in and out?

Sooner or later this has to stop. It would be better if it ended now rather than drag out an old outdated idea that you can impose “racial diversity” on a society that is constantly in motion and whose members would really prefer to just ignore a person’s race and judge them on their character instead. This kind of forced racial quotas shows a complete lack of character ... or intelligence.

Calif. Suit May Set Integration Precedent
December 10, 2005, 6:01 AM EST
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP)

When Michael Winsten and his wife, Cheryl, moved here four years ago, they expected their young children eventually would attend the high school down the hill, about a 3 1/2-mile bike ride from their home. Since then, relentless growth in this Orange County community has forced a school district building boom, and the Winstens’ five children will have take a bus to a new school farther away.

The Winstens say the real reason for moving their children is to ensure there are enough white students at the new school. They are suing Capistrano Unified School District over the attendance boundaries, claiming the school board put racial balance ahead of safety and neighborhood cohesion.

“I think the stupidest factor is using skin color and test scores,” Michael Winsten said. The case highlights a predicament faced across the country 51 years after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that school children cannot be segregated by race: How to create integrated schools without violating anti-discrimination laws.

At issue in the Capistrano case is Proposition 209, a measure California voters approved in 1996 that bars discrimination or preferential treatment based on race or ethnicity. The Winsten’s lawsuit is dividing a community that has long prided itself on its racial harmony. Peter Ditto, a father of three teenage girls who supports the school district’s changes, said he understands why people are upset, but he believes bringing up race is the wrong approach.

“Our kids have to live in a diverse world,” Ditto said. “I think recognizing that people are different, dealing with different cultural issues, are important lessons.” School district attorney David Larsen said race was used only at the end of the boundary-drawing process to ensure that none of the schools would be segregated. “There’s a strong desire for one school not to be known as the school in the hills and one as the school in the valley, so to speak,” he said.

Larsen said parents, administrators and community members spent months working on attendance options. District memos show officials wanted to create high schools with about 2,500 students each and a racial composition as close as possible to 65 percent white and 35 percent minority to resemble the district’s ethnic makeup.

Hot For Teacher, Episode MLIX

WHEW! I was getting scared, thinking that our streak of sleazy stories about some wild female teacher seducing a (lucky?) teenage boy was about to end. Never fear! Our streak lives on. Now in its umpteenth continuous week, we present this week’s titillating teaser teacher from Pell City, Alabama. Are we on a roll here or what ... ?

imageimageEx-teacher Gets Prison For Sex With Student
PELL CITY, Alabama (BIRMINGHAM NEWS)

A former Leeds High School teacher was sentenced to prison Monday after admitting in court that she had consensual sex with a 15-year-old boy. Emily Morris, 27, will spend one year and a day in prison and serve four years on probation under the sentence handed down by St. Clair County Circuit Judge Jim Hill.

She pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree rape; in return, a second count of second-degree rape and one count of second-degree sodomy were dropped.

The boy was a student at the school, where Morris taught 10th-grade English for part of the 2004-05 school year. Morris had sex with the boy in her car off-campus in February, Assistant District Attorney Lamar Williamson said. “She knew how old he was,” Williamson told Hill.

“Is that true?” Hill asked Morris.

“Yes sir,” Morris said quietly.

Hill ordered Morris to report to the St. Clair County Jail on Jan. 5. She has been free on $5,000 bond since her arrest in June. She appeared to be on the verge of tears as she left the almost empty courtroom with relatives. Morris could have received up to 20 years in prison for the crime, a Class B felony.

Williamson said it was important that Morris spend some time in prison because she took advantage of her “position of trust and authority” as a teacher. Morris’ attorney, William Dawson, said she agreed to the plea bargain, in part, because of the possibility of receiving a much longer sentence.

Morris resigned from her job after allegations surfaced earlier this year. The victim’s father reported the crime to the Leeds Police Department in March. St. Clair County investigators became involved because the crime took place in the county.

A grand jury indicted Morris in June. Second-degree rape occurs when a person older than 16 has sex with a person younger than 16, provided the offender is at least two years older than the victim.

Hot For Teacher, Part LIX

OH, COME ON! You didn’t really think we’d let you get away for the holiday without at least one last parting shot at our favorite teacher did you? The sultry wench pleaded guilty and started working on her insanity plea. The young stud who was “abused” by aforementioned teacher is surprised to learn that his mother thinks he is scarred for life. Yeah, right. The kid is now what we refer to as a “made man”. And before you all jump all over me and scream about “what if this had been a male teacher and a young girl”, bear in mind that I don’t make the rules for our goobered up society, I just report on ‘em.

Oddly enough, she won’t be able to make money on a book or movie deal but here’s the catch .... this “hardened criminal” will never need to buy another drink in her life. All she has to do is walk into any neighborhood bar and proclaim loudly, “I’m a sexual predator.” The stampede will begin within seconds. Are we men a bunch of sexist pigs or what? In a related question, if she is unemployed how is she paying her attorney? He looks awfully tired in the picture below. I wonder ...

imageimageFlorida Teacher Pleads Guilty in Sex Case
TAMPA, Fla. (AP)

A female teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to having sex with a 14-year-old student, avoiding prison as part of a plea agreement. Debra Lafave, 25, whose sensational case made tabloid headlines, will serve three years of house arrest and seven years’ probation. She pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

The former Greco Middle School reading teacher apologized during the hearing, saying “I accept full responsibility for my actions.” The boy told investigators the two had sex in a classroom at the school, located in Temple Terrace near Tampa, in her Riverview town house and once in a vehicle while his 15-year-old cousin drove them around Marion County.

The boy told investigators Lafave told him her marriage was in trouble and that she was aroused by the fact that having sex with him was not allowed. He said he and Lafave, a newlywed at the time, got to know each other on their way back from a class trip to SeaWorld Orlando in May 2004. If convicted at trial in Hillsborough County, she could have faced up to 15 years in prison on each count.

The plea agreement also was designed to resolve similar charges in Marion County, where Lafave was scheduled to appear in court Dec. 8. But prosecutor Ric Ridgeway said his office wants to speak with the boy’s family first. Hillsborough Circuit Judge Wayne Timmerman said LaFave also will forever lose her teaching certificate, must register with the state as a sexual predator, may not have any contact with children including the victim, and will not be allowed to profit from the sale of her story or personal appearances.

The victim’s mother said afterward that the public scrutiny had taken its toll on the family, and they just wanted to see it all end. “If we had continued along this path, this would have followed him forever,” said the mother, whose name was being withheld to protect her son’s identity. “My prayer is that he can leave this behind him and go on and be a happy, healthy young man.”

After Tuesday’s hearing, Lafave’s attorney, John Fitzgibbons, said the plea was “a fair resolution of this case.” Asked how she felt afterward, Lafave said “tired.” Fitzgibbons said in July that plea negotiations had broken off because prosecutors insisted on prison time, which he said would be too dangerous for someone as attractive as Lafave. He said then that she planned to plead insanity at trial, claiming emotional stress kept her from knowing right from wrong.

Taxed Twice, Sued Forever

This almost reads like an episode from The Twilight Zone. The family in the story below obviously live in the wrong place. I’m thinking it may be time for them to move their house two feet west ... or south ... or east ... or ... oh, forget it - there are taxmen on all sides, it seems. Better just to blow the house up, collect the insurance and move to another state. Problem solved.

Schools Suing For $35K Tuition
Forest Hills pursues family whose house was on border
CINCINNATI

James and Linda Huegel sent their two children to the Forest Hills School District, and now the school board is suing the couple for $35,485 in back tuition from 1993 to 1999. The district says the couple lived in the 8000 block of Forest Pine Drive, which was in the West Clermont School District at the time, according to the suit filed in Clermont County Common Pleas Court. The residence was transferred to the Forest Hills district in 2000.

Forest Hills sued the couple in October 2000, but Clermont County Common Pleas Court ruled it did not have jurisdiction until the Ohio Department of Education ruled. The district turned to the Court of Appeals, which agreed with the trial court’s decision. The Ohio Supreme Court refused the case.

The Department of Education ruled in June that the Huegels were not Forest Hills residents before the 1999-2000 school year and that their attendance was unauthorized. On Aug. 19, the Forest Hills School Board demanded full payment of tuition, but the Huegels haven’t paid, the lawsuit said.

Ohio law says that school districts must provide free public education to students living within their geographic borders, but districts are allowed to set tuition amounts for out-of-district residents who want to enroll.

Part of the Forest Pine residence is located in Clermont County, and part of it is in Hamilton County, said Bronston McCord, attorney for Forest Hills. The Huegels’ developer told them that their house is in Forest Hills, which was incorrect, McCord said. Every other house on the street is in Forest Hills. McCord said it’s unlikely that the Huegels didn’t know they were in the wrong school district, because they received two tax bills - one from Hamilton County and a larger one from Clermont County. Both list the school district.

Whether the Huegels knew that they were sending their kids to the wrong district, Forest Hills still has to pursue the matter, McCord said. “The bottom line is that Forest Hills is required by law to collect tuition for the unauthorized attendance.” While building their Forest Pine Drive home in 1993, they discovered the property sat in two school districts, James Huegel said. Because of that, the Huegels sought an Ohio Department of Education opinion in 1993.

“The Ohio Department of Education told us we could attend either school district, because we were paying taxes in both,” Huegel said. But in June 1999, the Huegels received a letter from Forest Hills, saying their children could not attend school there. “They (Forest Hills) have some responsibility in this also to know what property is in their district or what property they believe is in their district,” Huegel said. “It’s not like we gave them a phony address.”

Tower Of Babel

This is where it starts. Where it ends is a good question. What are the advantages of having all elementary students learn English and Spanish? I’m all in favor of students learning a second language. I took two in high school and college - first Latin then French. In those days (the 1950’s & 1960’s) students were required to take at least two years of a foreign language in high school. The thing is, we were given a choice and could pick a language that we thought might be of benefit some day.

This news story below is not about raising the competitive abilities of students by having them learn a foreign language. It is purely and simply about multi-culturalism and surrendering to the rapidly growing Spanish-speaking minority in this country. This is only the first step in creating a bi-polar country where communication is only further damaged by having two distinct national languages. Down that road is a monstrous tar pit. I’m just glad I won’t be around to be the tar-baby ... or would that be “bebé alquitrán”?

Dual-Language Public School OK’d in Georgia
JONESBORO, Ga. (AP)

A school board has voted to open a public elementary school where students will be taught to be equally proficient in English and Spanish by fifth grade. Unidos Dual Language Charter School, which is scheduled to open next fall, is believed to be the first of its kind in the state.

It won’t target the immigrant community by teaching English as a second language, but aims to teach both languages together to classes equally divided between English- and Spanish-native speakers.

“They’re able to learn a language in very natural ways,” said DeeAnn Dozier, the Clayton County schools English teacher who reviewed the petition. The board voted Monday night.

Hispanics make up nearly 8 percent of students enrolled in the state’s public schools this year, according to a report released last week by the National Council of La Raza, the largest U.S.-based Hispanic advocacy group.

The first dual language education program in the United States was started in 1962 in Coral Way, Fla., according to the Unidos petition. In 2004, 294 programs used both Spanish and English.

Misbehaving Teachers, Part XXLVIII

It appears the teaching establishment has another one for the record books. Today’s “Teacher Seduces Student” story comes from Tampa and involves a female teacher and .... a female student. C’mon! You really didn’t believe for one instant that the homosexuals would let the heterosexuals have all the criminal fun at school, did you ...?

Student Accuses Coach Of Affair
TAMPA (TBO)

Math teacher Jaymee Lane Wallace earned accolades coaching the Wharton High School girls varsity basketball team to two district titles, but several of her players told police she had a secret. They accused Wallace of having an 18-month sexual relationship with one of their teammates that many of them discussed but didn’t report until Tampa police began asking questions five months ago.

Wallace, 28, of 16392 Compton Palms Drive, surrendered Monday on an arrest warrant charging her with lewd and lascivious battery, a second-degree felony. If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison. She was released from Orient Road Jail after posting $7,500 bail. Her attorney has filed a not-guilty plea. Police did not identify the alleged victim, now 17. Police began investigating the alleged relationship in June, after the girl’s family contacted authorities. Relatives said Wallace disapproved of the teenager’s new girlfriend and got into an argument at the girl’s house on Memorial Day. Afterward, the girl told her mother she and Wallace had an affair, police said.

The girl’s mother told police in a report released Tuesday that she “feels betrayed” and her daughter is in counseling. The girl told police the relationship began in December 2002 when she was 14 and Wallace allegedly stapled a note to a graded paper saying she found the girl attractive. In the police report, the girl describes how she and Wallace became intimate in 2003, when she was 15, after Wallace drove her and teammates to watch a Final Four game in Lakeland. They parked in the lot of a “factory” on 30th Street, later identified as Yuengling Brewery, and performed oral sex in Wallace’s car, police said.

The girl’s older sister, now 19, and another teammate said Wallace would shield the relationship by bringing them and the alleged victim on errands, where they would kiss and hold hands, or to her apartment, where the other girl would wait in the living room while Wallace and the alleged victim were in the bedroom. The sister told police she once walked in the room and saw Wallace and her sister naked.

Wallace was relieved of her coaching duties in June, when the police investigation began, and the school district reassigned her to work in the Office of Professional Standards. The district first questioned the alleged victim and her mother about an inappropriate relationship in March when the mother of another student reported her suspicions, spokesman Steve Hegarty said. At the time, the alleged victim and her mother said they knew nothing, and the district, wanting to be discreet, did not investigate further, he said.

The school also sent a letter to the alleged victim and Wallace and received no response from either, Hegarty said. Wallace said inthe police report that she and the alleged victim had a “mother/daughter or big sister/little sister” relationship. The alleged victim said Wallace broke off the relationship in 2004, about a year after Wallace’s wedding, saying she wanted to have children and felt guilty about what she was doing to her husband. In coming forward, the teenager said she was in love with Wallace and did not want to get her in trouble but could not lie to her mother anymore.

As The World Turns

Another kinky teacher, a sex blog, a disgruntled ex-wife, an anonymous letter to the school board .... today’s featured soap opera takes place in the small town of Mansfield, Texas just outside of Dallas ....

Teacher Quits After School Finds Her Sex Blog
MANSFIELD, Texas (AP)

A Mansfield elementary school teacher resigned after school officials found she used her class computer to access a personal Web log chronicling sexual exploits and containing disparaging remarks about her students.

Becky Pelfrey, 38, had worked for the Mansfield district for three years and had spent seven years working for Arlington schools. Her log featured links to sexually-oriented Web sites and comments about her students, including a reference to them as “stinky kids.”

School district spokesman Terry Morawski said the district has not sought to file criminal charges and he is not certain that Pelfrey committed a crime. Officials were alerted to the situation by an anonymous letter dated Sept. 22.

Pelfrey’s husband, Bill Pelfrey, claimed the letter was written by his ex-wife and Becky Pelfrey’s former best friend, Tanya Hanna. The families are involved in a custody dispute. Hanna denied the claim.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
