UK Budget Crisis: RAF to be cut back to 1914 levels

How can the RAF have a Dawn Patrol when they’re flying off into the sunset?



The RAF will shrink to its smallest size since the First World War, under unprecedented cuts being proposed at the Ministry of Defence. 

In the most significant changes to Britain’s defences since the post-Suez review of 1957, ministers and officials plan to scrap large parts of the Armed Forces.

The Services will lose up to 16,000 personnel, hundreds of tanks, scores of fighter jets and half a dozen ships, under detailed proposals passed to The Daily Telegraph.

But the RAF will bear the brunt of the planned cuts. The Air Force will lose 7,000 airmen – almost one sixth of its total staff – and 295 aircraft. The cuts will leave the Force with fewer than 200 fighter planes for the first time since 1914.

The Telegraph has also learnt that the “black hole” in MoD finances, caused by orders which have been made but cannot be paid for, is approaching £72  billion over the next decade – double the amount previously suggested.

The entire force of 120 GR4 Tornado fighter-bombers looks destined for the scrap heap to save £7.5 billion over the next five years. The Tornado was supposed to be in service until 2025, but with a major overhaul due in the next five years costing £10 million for each aircraft, it is now under threat.

The cut will mean job losses as RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Marham totalling almost 5,000 personnel.

Under the plans, the number of Eurofighter Typhoons is likely to be reduced further from 160 to 107 planes based at a single RAF airfield to save £1  billion. The entire fleet of 36 Hercules transport aircraft, the workhorse in Iraq and Afghanistan, is to be phased out and replaced by an order of 22 new A400M planes.

The £3.6 billion project for nine Nimrod MR4 reconnaissance aircraft is also vulnerable, along with a number of other surveillance planes.



I’m certain all these defense cuts will be more than matched by an increase in free housing and benefits for more muzzie terrorists, Somali layabouts, and the next wave of gypos from Romania. Who needs a military when you invite the entire world over to stay for free?

#32 - Boudreaux’s Vasectomy

After having their 10th child, Boudreaux and Clotile decided that that was enough. So Boudreaux went to the doctor and told the doctor that he and Clotile didn’t want to have any more children. The doctor told Boudreaux that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem.

The doctor told Boudreaux that he was to go home, get a cherry bomb, light the fuse, put the cherry bomb in a can, then hold the can up to his ear, and count to 10.

Boudreaux said to the doctor “I may not be the smartest man, but I don’t see how putting a cherry bomb in a can next to my ear is going to help us not have any more children.” So Boudreaux and Clotile drove to Texas to get a second opinion.

The Texas doctor was just about to tell them about the procedure for a vasectomy when he figured out who he was dealing with. So, the doctor told Boudreaux to go home and get a cherry bomb, light the fuse, place the cherry bomb in a tin can, hold it next to his ear, and count to 10.

Figuring that both doctors couldn’t be wrong, Boudreaux went home, got a cherry bomb, lit the fuse, and put the cherry bomb in a can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count on his fingers, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5...” at which point he paused, placed the can between his legs, and resumed his counting with the fingers on his other hand.

Boudreaux died and was on his way down to Hell. In anticipation, the Devil turned up the thermostat to make it extra warm for Boudreaux. When Boudreaux arrived, the Devil asked, “Hey Boudreaux, how do you like the heat down here?”

Boudreaux says, “Mais, it’s just fine. It reminds me of Bayou PonPon in July.”

That made the Devil mad. That night, he turned the thermostat up all the way it could go. Man it was hot! When Boudreaux woke up, the Devil asked him, “NOW how do you like it down here?”

Boudreaux says, “Mais, it’s fine. It reminds me of August on Bayou Lafourche.”

As you might expect, that made the Devil all the more mad. Well, that night, he turned the thermostat down all the way it could go! The whole place frosted over. Icicles started forming from the rafters. When Boudreaux woke up, the Devil asked him, “How you like it NOW, Boudreaux?”

Boudreaux, shivering, through blue lips, says, “Mais cher, I’m one happy Cajun!”

The Devil was infuriated! He yelled, “What do you mean you’re one happy Cajun?!!”

Boudreaux, still shivering says, “The Saints done won the Superbowl!”

And Again!

Dear GOP

Would you PLEASE have some bigwig at the top of the heap make a clarifying statement about what Lindsey Graham, and now Chuck Grassley, “meant” by their statements the other day about the 14th Amendment?

We are being beaten to a pulp on this one. Strawmen are being erected and set on fire left, right, and lefter. It’s time to fight back. For ONCE, would you finally fight back? The right side of the blogosphere can’t do it alone, though God knows we try, day after day after day.

Simply put: there is nothing wrong with the 14th Amendment. It is fine as it is. Even Section 1. The problem is that people have misunderstood what it actually says. Graham and Grassely are only saying that the proper understanding of Section 1 needs to be made clear again. Well, tell people that’s what they’re saying. Please. Because if they really do believe that the amendment is out of date and poorly written, then they deserve a trip to the woodshed, or worse.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States …”

Does NOT mean that anyone born here is automatically a citizen. It never meant that, and it still does not. The misunderstanding comes from the words “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof”, which too many people think means something like “and subject to our rule of law while here”. It does not mean that. It means, just like what was written in the Civil Rights Act of 1866 (another Republican accomplishment) “and not subject to any foreign power”.

People make a big issue out of original intent. Fine. Easy. Look up the Congressional Record of May 30, 1866 and read EXACTLY what Senator Jacob M. Howard (R-MI), the author of this part of the 14th meant, and what every other representative at the time fully and completely understood:

“The first amendment is to section one, declaring that “all persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United State and the States wherein they reside.” I do not propose to say anything on the subject except that the question of citizenship has been so fully discussed in this body as to not need any further elucidation, in my opinion. This amendment of which I have offered is simply declaratory of what I regard is the law of land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.”

Foreign nationals are NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. They are subject to the jurisdiction of their home countries. Plain and simple. Black and white. And yet a huge part of the citizenship does not understand this. Teach them. Make an effort. Try. Find some backbone. Stand up. Fight.

I can find 25 major web sites in a matter of seconds that are utterly trashing the GOP right now over this. To them, Graham’s statement means he wants to bring back slavery. And worse.

I’ve blogged about it multiple times, and so have many others on the right. We are happy to call ourselves the VRWC, the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, and we do our best to push Conservative and Republican views. Or what we feel ought to be Republican views.

Ann Coulter put up a post about it, and found that the “anchor baby” error may have snuck in in 1982 as part of an absurd footnote by Justice Brennan (progressive Democrat) in Plyler v. Doe. It is NOT law. It is not, should not, must not be official policy.

It’s an awful lot of extra work for us out here in the grassroots when representatives like Graham seem to insist on having foot in mouth disease, with hand grenades taped to their toenails. Help us help you. Please.

Kick up a fuss folks. Email your reps, email Graham and Grassely. Email the talking heads at the news networks. Write letters to the editors. Et cetera. Put the word out. Never retreat, never surrender.
Always quote the above bit of Original Intent. That can not be argued with, even though “scholars have debated this for generations”. Horse shit. Left wing progressives have tried to change the meaning of the words for generations. Nothing scholarly there, and nothing debatable either. Just more lies and agitprop.

ROMANIAN PRES. TO BRIT TXPAYER … THANKS FOR TAKING US IN, LOVE UR HOUSE.

Hey ... how often do you see this?  Of course, he doesn’t say anything about the Romas (gypos) who cause mayhem but never mind.

Romanian president praises countrymen for doing British jobs in attack on ‘lazy Westerners’

The president of Romania has publicly thanked the tens of thousands of his countrymen who do jobs in Britain instead of claiming benefits back home.

In an extraordinary TV broadcast, Traian Basescu paid tribute to the two million Romanians who live and work abroad instead of claiming benefits at home.

‘Imagine if the two million Romanians working in Britain, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, came to ask for unemployment benefits in Romania,’ he said.

‘So to these people we have to thank them for what they are doing for Romania.’

Reality check: Romanian President Traian Basescu has praised his countrymen for claiming benefits in EU countries like Britain

And Mr Basescu blamed the boom in emigrant Romanian workers on lazy Westerners.

‘In those countries, the social protection is at a level that makes it more comfortable to be unemployed.’

‘Romanians do that hard labour for them and to earn better and make more money than they could at home,’ claimed President Basescu.

Romanians workers have flooded into Britain with other eastern European citizens after joining the EU following the collapse of Communism.

When they they arrive the immigrants are immediately entitled to child benefit, Tax Credits and housing support.

After 12 months in Britain they can receive generous income-related benefits like unemployment benefit.

At home in Romania, they would receive just £20 a week for 12 months.

Mr Basescu’s attack comes as Hungary gets set to hand passports to millions of people living outside the EU - raising the prospect of a new wave of immigration into Britain.

Most of the beneficiaries live in impoverished countries on the fringes of Europe. Once they are given a passport, they will be entitled to full access to the rest of the EU – including Britain.

I haven’t a clue how in the hell I pick up these stories so often but they always cause that old ... RCOB.  I guess in this case the photos grabbed me first and then I read and then ....

Okay so.  If anyone should NOT be driving anything more dangerous then a tricycle, it’s this jerk.

He gets pulled over by the police because (Major Crime Wave) he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.  Lots of folks don’t and sometimes some simply forget. Whatever.
I don’t care about that.

So he gets stopped, he has health issues we read, the article says “disabled” but not how or what. And the one photo of him being pulled from his car is hard to tell.  I don’t much care about that either. Thing is .....

A police officer goes to the side of his car, his car “lurches forward” and the cop gets knocked down. He isn’t hurt but naturally the police react. But he takes off, driving the speed limit (OJ anyone?) and when the cops finally stop the schmuck and wreck his car ....  he says

“It’s something you’d expect in America”

And that isn’t all he says.  He claimed that when he saw the officers flashing blue lights and heard the siren, he thought they were escorting him home.

Are ppl getting dumber or do they believe the rest of the populous is,except them?  Jeesh.  Freekin idiot.  Another one of those dimwits who know all about America.  Yeah, like I know about heart surgery.  You gotta read this article even tho I gave away the high points.

Police officers ‘smashed OAP driver’s window and dragged him out of car’ after he was stopped for not wearing seatbelt

For the apprehension of a disabled pensioner, it seemed a little excessive.

A police officer jumped on the bonnet of retired businessman Robert Whatley’s car and kicked the windscreen while another hit the window with his baton 15 times until it smashed.

They then dragged the 70-year-old, who has a heart condition and recently recovered from a stroke, from his £60,000 Range Rover.

A court heard yesterday that Mr Whatley, right, was originally pulled over in a country lane in Monmouthshire by traffic police who tried to issue him with a fine for not wearing a seat belt.

But when an officer went round to the passenger side, the car lurched forward and he was knocked over.

Mr Whatley told Caerphilly magistrates court, South Wales, that he then drove off because he thought the matter had been dealt with, felt ‘frail and vulnerable’ and was worried he would suffer another stroke.

The police followed him for 17 minutes, during which time he did not break the speed limit. Mr Whatley said he thought the blue lights and siren of the police car meant the officers were giving him an escort home.

He finally pulled over when he was confronted by a police ‘stinger’ device to puncture his tyres on the road into Usk.

I don’t get where the author of this piece seem to start with the idea that the cops over-reacted. How would they have known what awaited them inside a car with illegally tinted windows?

Country Life

Brave Autumn, Defender of Ducks

Little did I know that when I posted a picture of Skokie and Harold last week, the two right wing ducks who read BMEWS, that I would soon be privy to an entire saga of heroic adventure. I’ve had several emails from the duck’s people, Jeff and Autumn, and have learned a tremendous amount about waterfowl livestock and a daily challenges of life out in the real country, living in the House of Log. I’ll try and put together a coherent story from little snippets of the emails they’ve sent me, and I’ll paraphrase a bit as I see fit.

J & A’s little quackers are locally famous. They even have their own channel at YouTube. All the neighbors are forever asking about their exploits ... because these two have the “It” factor, and provide all sorts of comedy. They aren’t really livestock, they’re pets. Affectionate and attention hungry feathered children who have totally bonded with their “parents”. And a certain pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers. Aww, so cute!

Harold & Skokie are great comedians and as I said earlier - have brought daily humor to us.  So much so, they have their own channel on YouTube.  We had no choice, they were in demand. Family and friends called and wrote asking for daily updates as they grew, feathers were sent for kids’ show-and-tells, all the questions everyone asked made the whole venture interesting.  So we began to put still photos and video footage together with music backgrounds. Go to YouTube’s search window and enter: ‘Cattywumpus Farm’ or “JabberwockyNation”.

But such a ducky idyll like this can’t last forever, and the two web-footed clowns are sometimes on the receiving end of the harsher aspects of nature. I told you about their being picked on by the local wild turkeys. This week’s adventure is far more serious. Coyotes. Hungry evil coyotes. A small pack of them. But coyotes who had not taken the Mom Factor into account. Big mistake.


What happened was this: noon, she left the boys on the porch for a moment.  Came outside sat down, heard a bunch of noise coming from our orchard that is to the left of our front porch.  She saw a group of turkeys light from the ground, go over the top of the orchard and fly toward the tall trees behind our dog kennel.  This is an indication of a predator.  Turkeys only fly when thoroughly freaked.  A second later a rust colored coyote showed up.  Mom Duck (Autumn) opened the door and shooed Harold and Skokie in the house…she had to take her eye off the coyote… but she’s well aware of their ‘double back’ routine.  I’m asleep upstairs and our log house is insulated so well for sound I didn’t hear anything till nearly too late.

She got the boys in…and waited…she had her .410 loaded sitting on the porch floor and her .38 in her porch chair. 

She sees no activity...thirty minutes later…opens the front door for the boys…they walk out…just as they hit the porch and walk to the left …this coyote shows himself just yards from the house.  She knows about quick movements with predators…she was careful...coaxed the boys back to her…the .410 was on the porch floor…the .38 with low recoil hollow points is in the chair also behind her.  Skokie went in the house no problem…Harold thought she was playing ‘tag’ and ran to the end of the porch… to the left...right toward the coyote...this caused the normally skittish coyote to charge to the house…which caused my wife to grab a log from the woodpile…and scream an unbelievable scream…that’s what woke me up and I ran down the steps…I hit the front door…and approximately thirty feet from the porch is a huge coyote…Harold is hugging my wife’s foot in fear…Mom is holding another log and this coyote isn’t backing down…she threw the first one and cracked him good.  Autumn gave him a look pupil to pupil they were twenty feet apart and she pulled her lips back to a full toothful ‘go ahead punk make my day’ in dog speak…my wife is little but she has her Dad’s voice….everyone that calls after she answers the phone calls her Mister.  LOL.  She growled back deeper and meaner than the coyote…LOL.  I grabbed her .38 and I was panicked didn’t think just shot to stop it all. I was worried this crazy coyote and her would go head to head.  I shot in the air like an ass. He took off.

We called the neighbors because they have cattle with calves and chickens and such…that’s when we found out there was a trio of coyotes that had gotten to chickens, calves and two deeply loved family dogs.  They said there’s three that aren’t leaving the area.  We always call each other, being so far apart and all.  Autumn and I met up with everyone and she was tapped for duty.  Autumn is a crack shot. 

Back to the coyotes … noon isn’t a proper time for coyotes ... something is wrong with this group that has all neighbor’s concerned ... seven neighbors ID’d a uniquely colored coyote with companions…what has us all worried is normally coyotes are skittish and easily shooed off.  These are NOT. 

So a-hunting she did go. Into the woods to get the Big Bad Wolf. Ok, the medium sized wolf, but there are 3 of them and only one of her. So she left the .38 and the .410 behind, and took the .264. Egads! A .264 is a 6.5mm hot rod deer rifle. It’s based on the .300 H&H case, the same one used for the .338 Winchester Magnum elk cartridge and the .458 Winchester Magnum elephant gun. It can shoot a 140 grain bullet at more than 3000 feet per second. And a 140 grain bullet in the small .264 caliber has exceptional sectional density, which means the bullets can shoot through damn near anything and keep right on going. Overkill? Hardly. “Too much gun” is usually just the right amount. “Too much rifle for a woman?” Don’t you dare go there. Country girls can handle anything when the job needs doing.

High summer is the best time to visit your relatives back on the farm. Send the city kids and grandchildren out to the country for a few weeks. So word soon got out about the ‘yote hunt, and it nearly became a carnival. Hey, it’s a bit of excitement for everybody.

Senior neighbors with good hearing and grandchildren spending the summer with them are having a type of “Where’s Waldo” with Autumn, the coyote massacre and “Miss Autumn’s out with her gun!” rumors.

First email came from an 80 yr. old WWII Vet. around 5 AM.  He said: “Remarkable, here I was heading into town when a familiar blonde carrying a familiar rifle walked onto the road.  She leans into the car window and says: “Could you get a message to Jeffrey?  Tell him, Mom Duck One - Coyotes Zero” and there were seven boys with her.  A few carrying their guns, water bottles and backpacks...is she taking on the Boy Scouts? Shes two miles from home.”

LOL.  “Miss Autumn” has a following.  Most of the kids here are staying with grandparents...and this is the biggest excitement.  A rigged boy scout trip in the woods day and night learning things.  It gives me hope that not all kids are stuck to their Wiis and Xboxes!

I check my phone for a message from the Great Blond Huntress ... four hours go by ... finally:

Her: “Me and my calvalcade of followers...lol...one down...two to go.”
Me: “Do you need me to come out and help you dispose?  Need a shovel?  Need the truck?”
Her: “No...it’s okay.....it’s all taken care of...”
Me: “You buried it?”
Her: “Not really.”
Me: “Wha?”
Her: “Jefferson.  Just what in the hell do you think I’m using to bait the trap?  The boys just learned hands on coyote anatomy.”

Yup, like I said, more than enough gun gets it done.

No pictures yet, not that they’d show much other than pulp. But I’m expecting to soon hear that the other two ‘yotes have been turned into throw rugs.

Wardmama, I think you’ve got some competition for Ace Varmint Remover.

Update: Mom Duck 2, Coyotes 0.  Still out in the woods, camping out with the local boys on their best scouting expedition ever ever ever!!; rumor has it than an unknown blond woman and her custom made Harry Lawson rifle have nailed another fanged furball. Dinner in the woods was franks and beans, a proper cowboy meal, followed by Jiffy Pop around the campfire. Hope those kids brought cameras, because nobody is going to believe their story back in the city without some pictures. Maybe we should get Autumn one of those horned helmets and a big metal breastplate. She’s got to have Valkyrie status in those kid’s eyes by now. Warrior Princess, at least.

Ok so now finished with one part of tech support.  I imagine I’ll get myself into trouble later on when my RAM sticks arrive and I install them. Increasing RAM. That should be fun.  Reason I say that is coz every time I read about how straightforward and easy something is .. it ain’t.  Altho heck.  How hard can it be to insert these things?  So if I suddenly disappear for a lifetime, you’ll know why.
Then I have to finish these damn old windows and scrape more rust and treat and paint and scrape old paint and repaint etc. Bah.

Alright so on to the news from Pakistan North. This’ll slayya.

Parents’ fury at council plans for halal-only menus in primary schools

Parents have expressed fury at plans to serve pupils halal-only menus for school dinners.
In a move which has also enraged animal welfare groups, only meat from animals killed and prepared using Islamic teaching may be allowed at 52 primaries in Harrow.
Critics say the plan puts the needs of Muslim children before those of other faiths, while parents say they have not been consulted over the scheme.

One of those little bits of history that many would prefer to sweep under the rug. From today’s post at Grand Old Partisan, written by Chuck Devore (R-CA) who takes Ron Paul to task for some really stupid remarks he made about Lincoln and the Civil War.

Note: South Carolina voted for secession on December 20, 1860. The steamship Star of the West, acting as a supply vessel for Fort Sumter, was fired on by both The Citadel and by Fort Moultrie on January 9, 1861. Lincoln became President on March 4, 1861. By that time 7 states had seceded and formed the Confederacy before he took office. 17 days after Lincoln’s Inauguration, Alexander Stephens, the Vice President of the Confederacy, gave what is called ”the cornerstone speech”, and in it he said:

BP dupes the President

It seems a miracle that our beloved leader was able to convince BP to establish a $20 billion slush (oops, escrow) fund to compensate those hurt by the ongoing oil plume in the Gulf of Mexico. After all, he had no constitutional power to force them to do so; so had to resort to Chicago-style negotiating.

But, let us take a closer look at the effect on BP’s finances:

1. BP will establish a $20 billion fund, but will pay only $7 billion into it during 2010.

2. BP is a British corporation, but has a very large operating entity in the U.S.

3. By generally accepted accounting principles, BP must book the entire $20 billion expense in the year accrued. Therefore, they will book a $20 billion expense in 2010, reducing their U.S. tax liability by $7 billion.

4. Our dear leader also convinced this massive corporation to show their concern for the “small people” by withholding dividends to their shareholders for the last three quarters of 2010. This reduces their outward cash flow by about $7.5 billion, including approximately 40 percent of that amount to U.S. citizens. Assuming the Bush tax cuts will survive through 2010, the U.S. Treasury will lose another $450 million in taxes on that amount. We won’t even discuss the effect on the U.S. economy.

Let us review the results:

BP Cash Flow:

Escrow funding ($7 billion)

Dividend saving $7.5 billion

Tax savings $7 billion

Net favorable cash flow : $7.5 billion

US Treasury Tax Receipts:

BP Corporate income tax ($7.5 billion)

BP Shareholders ($0.45 billion)

Net unfavorable tax receipts ($7.95 billion)

I guess we really should expect this. After all, our dear leader is the most inexperienced man in any room he walks into.

So, after all this mess, BP comes out $7 billion ahead? Awesome. But that’s only for this year. Next year they’ll still have to drop that much or nearly twice that into the escrow fund. But, it may not be needed! Because the End Of The World oil spill, the Worst Disaster Evah Evah Evah Evah!!!! seems to be mostly cleaned up already. That 75% of the oil that was spilled seems to have dissipated, degraded, or been sucked up. Go figure. Who knew? Well, Rush Limbaugh for one. And anyone who saw how rapidly Saddam’s mess in the Gulf in ‘91 was cleaned up. Or that IxToc oil spill in the Gulf that Mexico did some years back ... but the environmentally conscious seem upset that their doom and gloom 50 years of problems forecast might not last 1 entire year.

Battle to halt BP oil spill is nearing its end, says Barack Obama

BP claims it has reached ‘significant milestone’ in efforts to permanently seal Deepwater Horizon well

Barack Obama today declared the US’s largest and most politically embarrassing oil spill near an end as BP said it had reached a “significant milestone” in its efforts to permanently seal the Deepwater Horizon well.

“The long battle is finally close to coming to an end, and we are very pleased with that,” said the president, who was strongly criticised for what was initially seen as a slow and weak response as millions of barrels of oil poured into the Gulf of Mexico.

BP said it had completed a process known as static kill, in which heavy mud was pumped in to plug the stricken well, producing a “textbook” result.

Obama described the static kill operation, and a report by government scientists that about 75% of the nearly 5m barrels of spilled oil has been dealt with by the clean-up effort or nature, as “very welcome news”.

The White House tried to ensure the administration would gain credit for leading what it called a “robust” response to the disaster by saying that the clean-up would not have been as successful if it had not pushed BP “every step of the way”.

Right, because playing golf, going to rock concerts, putting half of Louisiana out of work, hiring thousands of layabouts to put sand in bags while only working a third of a day for full day’s pay at a higher hourly rate than they’ve ever seen, and taking multiple vacations is what we all call a “robust response”. Plus letting all the various government departments have a festival of stepping on their own dicks and generally slowing things down and making them worse. Dimwit.

Leftists Displeased, Surprised by Disappearing, Dispersing Gulf Oil

RUSH: The New York Times, the Washington Post, it’s everywhere.  “On the Surface, Gulf Oil Spill Is Vanishing Fast; Concerns Stay—The oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico appears to be dissolving far more rapidly than anyone expected --” No.  There were a lot of us that expected this to happen.  “-- a piece of good news that raises tricky new questions about how fast the government should scale back its response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster.” Come on, New York Times, scale back?  Does the federal government scale back in anything?  It’s response?  The moratorium goes on, jobs shut down, drilling shut down, 135,000 jobs kaput, $20 billion shaken down from British Petroleum. 

Speaking of that: “BP said Tuesday that it plans to cut its U.S. tax bill by $9.9 billion, or about half the amount pledged to aid victims of the disaster, by deducting costs related to the oil spill.  A portion of that could be refunded from taxes BP paid in earlier years.  The company disclosed its intentions as part of its second-quarter earnings report, in which it said it would record a $32.2 billion charge to reflect the costs of the spill.  Under U.S. corporate tax law, companies can take credits on up to 35 percent of their losses.  The credit for BP could mean, however, that taxpayers will indirectly foot part of the bill for the $20 billion” shakedown that BP was forced to pay by Obama “to compensate people and businesses harmed by the disaster.” It doesn’t read that way in the Washington Post.  I used my own words to make the story accurate, calling it a shakedown.  Gonna cut their tax bill by $10 billion.  This is said to be the taxpayer indirectly footing the bill.

That seems to at least partially support the above numbers.

And this is the Washington Post: “Oil from the BP blowout is degrading rapidly in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and becoming increasingly difficult to find on the water surface, the head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Tuesday.  ‘The light crude oil is biodegrading quickly,’ NOAA director Jane Lubchenco said during the response team daily briefing. ‘Significant oil has been dispersed and broken down by bacteria.’

“A significantly more optimistic assessment of the environmental effects of the oil well blowout came Tuesday from Edward Owens, who worked with Exxon for four years on the Valdez spill in Alaska and who has been hired as a consultant to BP. Owens was quoted as saying the fragile Louisiana marshes would be close to pre-blowout condition within months and that the environmental impact on the gulf as a whole would be ‘quite small.’” Whoa.  Something’s going to have to happen to this guy.  Doesn’t he realize the permanent destruction of the Gulf is now settled science?

The immense patches of surface oil that covered thousands of square miles of the gulf after the April 20 oil rig explosion are largely gone, though sightings of tar balls and emulsified oil continue here and there.

Reporters flying over the area Sunday spotted only a few patches of sheen and an occasional streak of thicker oil, and radar images taken since then suggest that these few remaining patches are quickly breaking down in the warm surface waters of the gulf.

Hmmm, no wonder the government wouldn’t let anybody fly over this. That kind of news goes completely against the approved story. And Cap & Trade had to move forward. Let no crisis go to waste ... even if you have to manufacture one? Or at least digitally enhance it?

One Gay Judge Decides In Favor of Gay Marriage

Proposition 8, Twice Approved By Popular Vote, Shot Down




A federal judge in California on Wednesday overturned the state’s ban on same-sex marriage, saying the voter-approved rule violated the constitutional rights of gays and lesbians.

The decision, issued by Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker in San Francisco, is an initial step in what will likely be a lengthy legal fight over California’s Proposition 8, which defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

At stake in the trial was whether California’s ban on same-sex marriage violated the constitutional rights to equal protection and due process of two gay couples that want to marry.

Total horseshit. Any person in California has the same right to marry a person of the opposite gender as anyone else. That’s equal rights. Equal OUTCOME is a different story, in that the person a gay may want to marry may not be of an opposite gender. Too frickin bad. Have your civil unions, draw up your partnership documents. But you can’t call it marriage. And that’s what the people of the left coast state said. Twice. By wide margins.

Outside a San Francisco courthouse, a small group of same-sex marriage supporters waited for the decision. They waved flags and carried signs that read: “We all deserve the freedom to marry.” Rallies were planned for later in the day.

Idiiots. See above; you already have that freedom. Now you want special privileges? Eff off.

So now California is run by the judges. Regardless of the wishes of the people, as expressed through the legislature and the voting process.

Take this judge out and hang him before he allows transgendered bestiality and grants sheep and goats equal rights. Use a thin rough rope. Sic semper tyrannis.

This is why I can’t watch the news. I just can’t. The level of stupid out there is overwhelming. It’s me against the millions. I can’t take it anymore.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday night argued that the 14th Amendment no longer serves the purpose it was designed to address and that Congress should reexamine granting citizenship to any child born in the United States.

The 14th Amendment was passed following the Civil War out of fear that southern states would try to find a way to deny citizenship to freed slaves.

Pointing to that history, Graham said during an interview with Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren that birthright citizenship should not be applied to babies born in the United States to parents who are illegal immigrants.

“I’m looking at the laws that exist and see if it makes sense today,” Graham said. “Birthright citizenship doesn’t make so much sense when you understand the world as it is.”

“You’ve got the other problem, where thousands of people are coming across the Arizona/Texas border for the express purpose of having a child in an American hospital so that child will become an American citizen, and they broke the law to get there,” he said. “We ought to have a logical discussion. Is this the way to award American citizenship, sell it to somebody who’s rich, reward somebody who breaks the law? I think we need to look at it really closely.”

To further justify having that “discussion,” Graham also pointed to tourists who, he says, come to the United States on 90-day visa during the later stage of pregnancy in order to give birth to a child with U.S. citizenship.

“You come to a resort, you have your child at a hospital within the resort [and] that child is an American citizen,” Graham said. “That, to me, cheapens American citizenship. That’s not the way I would like it to be awarded.”

Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell has called for “taking a look” at changing the 14th Amendment as well.

The line in question in the amendment reads: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States …”

70 or more people commented on the post at Politico, and NOT ONE saw any error in Graham’s “understanding” of the 14th. Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, bless her blond roots, said that the 14th does give citizenship to anyone born here, then the camera went to Rosen out in DC who instantly parroted that remark.

Hey Graham, you dumb cracker: READ THE GOD DAMNED AMENDMENT:

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.



Didn’t I just post on this two weeks ago? Why, yes I did. I guess “reading comprehension” must be subject to majority rule that the plain and simple words that I read in the first section of the 14th DO NOT MEAN WHAT THEY SAY, and that millions and millions of people have turned the meaning INSIDE OUT because they only repeat what they are told, understand things the way they want to, are just plain lazy and/or stupid, or at least have never spent one whole minute making the smallest of efforts to try and think and understand what the Constitution ACTUALLY SAYS.

So, I’ll post it again.

The opening section of the Civil Rights Act of 1866:

An Act to protect all Persons in the United States in their Civil Rights, and furnish the Means of their Vindication.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That all persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States; and such citizens, of every race and color, without regard to any previous condition of slavery or involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall have the same right, in every State and Territory in the United States, to make and enforce contracts, to sue, be parties, and give evidence, to inherit, purchase, lease, sell, hold, and convey real and personal property, and to full and equal benefit of all laws and proceedings for the security of person and property, as is enjoyed by white citizens, and shall be subject to like punishment, pains, and penalties, and to none other, any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, to the contrary notwithstanding.

Note the “and not subject to any foreign power” part. This one paragraph grants full equal rights to all, regardless of color or gender.

This Act was vetoed by President Andrew Johnson (D-TN), but the veto was overridden by the Radical Republicans in Congress. This Act is still alive today, as 42 U.S.C. § 1981. Because the actions of this Act were not specifically empowered by the Constitution as it then existed, the ideas of the Act were quickly duplicated by the 14th Amendment. That’s a bit of a chicken-egg thing, but it worked.

Amendment XIV
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

While the 14th is most famous for overturning Dred Scott it also overturned Barron v. Baltimore, an 1833 decision wherein the Supremes ruled that the Bill of Rights did not apply to the States. [ Barron was also the Kelo of it’s day, and that decision was just as wrong as Kelo regarding property rights. ]

So it is blatantly obvious that the later Slaughterhouses decision was wrong because it was over-focused. Slaughterhouses specifically only “incorporated” those rights that the federal government had granted, not those rights that it “merely” recognized. And this started the nation down the long slow road of incorporation. At this point in time, Amendments 1 through 9 have been incorporated, although the 3rd Amendment (quartering soldiers in your home) has only risen to the 2nd and 10th Circuits; it has never come before SCOTUS. The 10th Amendment deals with the States themselves, and thus it’s incorporation would be redundant. So in effect Slaughterhouses has been mostly nullified even if it hasn’t yet been explicitly overturned. I’m waiting ...

But back to that “and not subject to any power” bit from the Act. That’s the same meaning as the “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” language in the 14th. It takes an act of willful blindness to not see the real meaning, and that meaning is this: foreign nationals who are in our country and who give birth do not magically bear American citizens. They are “subject to any foreign power” because they are citizens of that other nation; they are “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”.  This means that the “anchor babies” thing is bass-ackwards, dead wrong, and always has been.

Hey, that’s not just my opinion. The smallest bit of research shows that this was the original intent. Here are the words of the author of that part of the 14th Amendment, Senator Jacob M. Howard (R-MI):

The first amendment is to section one, declaring that “all persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United State and the States wherein they reside.” I do not propose to say anything on the subject except that the question of citizenship has been so fully discussed in this body as to not need any further elucidation, in my opinion. This amendment of which I have offered is simply declaratory of what I regard is the law of land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons. It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are, or are not, citizens of the United States. This has long been a great desideration in the jurisprudence and legislation of this country.

Oh, and Bob Menendez? What’s he got to do with this? He was asked to comment on Graham’s statement. He said that if we stopped giving citizenship to all the children of foreigners born here, then this would result in millions of children having no citizenship in any nation at all.

The weather has pretty much matched my mood today …

Pardon me but I’m just a bit pissed off today.  Sometimes things get to me and I have this problem shakin-em-off.  That ever happen to you?
Take a look at the headlines, which isn’t what got me going early today.  Not at all. Well almost not at all.

I went with the wife on her weekly grocery hunt as she needed some help today, and frankly I needed to get out and off the old duff for a couple hours.
I went to the magazine rack for a computer magazine, and went to the check out while my wife surfed the isles of the market.  I had in mind to read the magazine in the store’s coffee shop for a few minutes and then rejoin her.  So I mentioned to the cashier that I’d be walking around the store with the mag in my hand and needed the receipt so nobody would think I was lifting it.
And the bastard says, and you just fuckin well know when someone isn’t joking.

“Oh don’t worry about that. We don’t shoot people who don’t have a receipt in this country.” Really?  Like we do you mean? “ Well, seems so.” You’ve been reading the wrong comic books. Jerk!

OK, small thing I guess. Not a lot to get too worked up over I guess.  Well, sorry. I can’t really help how I feel about some things. It’s the old euro attitude with regard to those mad Americans and their guns.  Never mind that most Americans really do not own guns.  I’ll bet the majority don’t. But this isn’t about if we do or don’t.  It’s about attitudes held and passed on by asswipes like they have some kind of special knowledge about us, when they in fact know next to nothing at all.  Cept what they read in the left wing press.

Frankly, I am not hopeful.  But I’m still pissed.
