MIA

Lawlessness. Criminal gangs running wild. Powerless government. I’m afraid that doesn’t sound like a real “country” to me. Militant groups with rockets all over the place and daily kidnappings and suicide bombings do nothing to convince me that these people need anything more than a bullet to the head or a rope around their neck.

It should be obvious to everyone, including the Angry Left here in America, that these people are not “freedom fighters” or “insurgents”. They are criminals, thugs, murderers and thieves and the so-called “governments” in the Middle East look the other way and let them run wild. No one knows who has Centanni and Wiig. All of the usual suspects deny any knowledge.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again ... forget about throwing these madmen in prison. Either gun them down on the spot or publicly execute them and get them out of the gene pool. Enough already. Jail will not do any good with these pea-brained pissants. Send them to Allah or whatever heathen god they worship. May the devil take them all.

I sincerely hope and pray Centanni and Wiig come out of this alive. There is no telling where they are being held or even if they are still alive. I hope they are. All we can do is wait for whoever kidnapped them to stick their head up out of whatever hole in the ground they’re hiding in and make whatever ridiculous demands they feel they can get away with ...

imageimageGaza Groups Deny Kidnapping Journalists
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Aug 16, 7:09 AM (ET)

The wife of a kidnapped Fox News cameraman said Wednesday she’s been told by Palestinian officials her husband’s captors acted on their own, without support from militant groups.

The cameraman, Olaf Wiig, 36, of New Zealand, and Fox reporter Steve Centanni, 60, a U.S. citizen, were abducted Monday from their TV van near the Palestinian security services headquarters.

Major militant groups in Gaza have denied involvement and no public demands had been made. Wiig’s wife, Anita McNaught, on Wednesday appealed to the kidnappers to free her husband and Centanni.

“The bottom line is there is no good reason for these two men to be held,” said McNaught, a BBC World presenter. “They are friends of the Palestinians. They are here telling the Palestinian story for weeks now, when the rest of the worlds media has not been here.”

Directing her words to her husband in the on-camera interview and choking back tears, McNaught said: “It’s going to be all right. You are going to come home to me.”

McNaught said she had just finished covering the war in Lebanon and was flying home through Damascus when she got the news of the kidnapping. McNaught said she has been told by Palestinian officials that the kidnappers appear to be rogue gunmen without ties to any of the political groups in Gaza.

Pyrrhic Victory

image

A Pyrrhic Victory (pronounced pirric) is a victory which comes at devastating cost to the victor. The phrase is a reference to King Pyrrhus of Epirus, who during the Pyrrhic War defeated the Romans at Heraclea and Asculum in 279 BCE, but suffered severe and irreplaceable casualties in the process. After the battle of Asculum, Plutarch relates a report by Dionysius that:

“The armies separated; and, it is said, Pyrrhus replied to one that gave him joy of his victory that one other such would utterly undo him. For he had lost a great part of the forces he brought with him, and almost all his particular friends and principal commanders; there were no others there to make recruits, and he found the confederates in Italy backward. On the other hand, as from a fountain continually flowing out of the city, the Roman camp was quickly and plentifully filled up with fresh men, not at all abating in courage for the loss they sustained, but even from their very anger gaining new force and resolution to go on with the war.”

The phrase is more often reported as “Another such victory over the Romans and we are undone”.

Barking Moonbat Of The Week

imageimageThis week the coveted Horse’s Ass Trophy goes to .... The Hildabeast .... again. This makes about the four thousandth time by my reckoning. Sooner or later we’re just gonna have to induct this beeyatch into the Hall of Fame if she keeps up. Fresh from her dazzling performance stabbing Joe Lieberman in the back, Slick Willie’s wife is on the warpath, claiming President Bush isn’t doing enough to make the country safe from terrorists.

Where has this pitiful excuse for a Senator been hiding lately? To the best of my recollection, there hasn’t been an attack on American soil since September 11, 2001. How do you improve on a perfect record? How do you do better than zero attacks since the administration took steps to fight the war on terror. That would be the war that her husband ignored for eight years while keeping busy staining intern’s dresses and lying to grand juries. Congratulations, Hillary. Once again you have proven you’re a complete horse’s ass. Here is your trophy. Enjoy ...

imageimageSen. Clinton Faults Bush on Security
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - Aug 15, 6:56 AM (ET)

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a possible contender for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 2008, on Monday criticized the Bush administration for failing to do enough to protect the country from terrorists.

Clinton’s comments came after authorities in the United Kingdom last week said they thwarted a terror plot involving airplanes bound from Britain to the United States. Conspirators allegedly planned to blow up as many as 10 planes flying from Britain to the United States using liquid explosives, which the U.S. Transportation Security Administration’s security equipment cannot detect in carry-on luggage.

“We’ve done some things right,” the New York senator said at a community event in Schenectady. “Obviously we’ve beefed up airport security in some ways, but as we’ve learned over the last week not in every way that matters. We still have not done what we need to do to protect our ports, our borders, our bridges, our transit systems, our rail lines, it’s a long list.”

“I don’t think our long-term strategy for homeland security is yet what it needs to be,” she said.

Finally!

Does this mean that the “politically-correct, offend no Muslim” bullshit is about to end? Are people finally waking up? I doubt it. If Britain goes through with this profiling there will be lawsuits galore and the “Arab street” in England will be wringing its hands and crying “foul”. That doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea though, just that insanity prevails over common sense.

So what if a few “peaceful” Muslims have to undergo a little tighter security check. If they had any brains they’d realize it’s for their safety as well as the rest of us. Instead they will wail and moan that they are being persecuted. My advice to them is to stuff a sock in it now. Put up with it and pray that it doesn’t get worse. If this continues, Muslims may not be allowed on any planes and internment camps may be just around the corner.

And don’t tell me I’m being too harsh on Muslims, most of whom supposedly eschew violence. This has nothing to do with them. It is about capturing criminals and madmen and if these creatures are all young Muslim men then target those who fit the profile for a little extra security checking. It is far, far better to offend a few “peaceful” Muslims than to let one insane Muslim board a plane with bombmaking material that utlimately kills, in cold blood, everyone aboard ... including those easily offended “peaceful” Muslims ...

imageimageMuslims Face Extra Checks In New Travel Crackdown
LONDON (THE TIMES) - August 15, 2006

The Government is discussing with airport operators plans to introduce a screening system that allows security staff to focus on those passengers who pose the greatest risk.

The passenger-profiling technique involves selecting people who are behaving suspiciously, have an unusual travel pattern or, most controversially, have a certain ethnic or religious background.

The system would be much more sophisticated than simply picking out young men of Asian appearance. But it would cause outrage in the Muslim community because its members would be far more likely to be selected for extra checks.

Officials at the Department for Transport (DfT) have discussed the practicalities of introducing such a system with airport operators, including BAA. They believe that it would be more effective at identifying potential terrorists than the existing random searches.

They also say that it would greatly reduce queues at security gates, which caused lengthy delays at London airports yesterday for the fifth day running. Heathrow and Gatwick were worst affected, cancelling 69 and 27 flights respectively. BAA gave warning yesterday that the disruption would continue for the rest of the week.

Passengers are now allowed to take one small piece of hand luggage on board but security staff are still having to search 50 per cent of travellers. Airports have also been ordered to search twice as many hand luggage items as a week ago.

BAA was criticised yesterday for failing to commit itself to recruiting more security staff and for claiming that its existing 6,000 staff at seven airports would be able to handle the extra searches. Tony Douglas, the chief executive of Heathrow, said that X-ray screening of hand luggage would be much faster under the new rules on size and contents, leaving staff free to carry out more searches.

The new measures, which include a ban on taking any liquids through checkpoints, are expected to remain in place for months. A DfT source said it was difficult to see how the restrictions could be relaxed if terrorists now had the capabil-ity to make liquid bombs.

The DfT has been considering passenger profiling for a year but, until last week, the disadvantages were thought to outweigh the advantages. A senior aviation industry source said: “The DfT is ultra-sensitive about this and won’t say anything publicly because of political concerns about being accused of racial stereotyping.”

Three days before last week’s arrests, the highest-ranking Muslim police officer in Britain gave warning that profiling techniques based on physical appearance were already causing anger and mistrust among young Muslims. Tarique Ghaffur, an assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said: “We must think long and hard about the causal factors of anger and resentment.

“There is a very real danger that the counter-terrorism label is also being used by other law-enforcement agencies to the effect that there is a real risk of criminalising minority communities.”

Sir Rod Eddington, former chief executive of British Airways, criticised the random nature of security searches. He said that it was irrational to subject a 75-year-old grandmother to the same checks as a 25-year-old man who had just paid for his ticket with cash.

Charities Funding Terrorism

We already know that Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas and all the other terrorist groups have no morals, no qualms about using civilians as shields, no intention of acting civilized and no real reason to exist except to kill, murder and injure. They are all thugs, murderers and damn liars on a grand scale. The pretense of “holy war” or jihad is nothing more than a pitiful attempt to excuse their barbaric acts. They are no more religious than a rock is. Rocks have better sense.

I have watched these cretins use every uncivilized act in the book to continue their insane agenda. I’m never surprised at how low they will go. Not any more. Even when I learn that they siphoned off $5 million in earthquake relief funds sent to Pakistan, I am still not surprised. All I can say is be careful where you donate nowadays. These people are an abomination if they can take money intended to help starving, homeless victims of a natural disaster and divert it to use to blow up innocent people. We need to start getting barbaric back on them. Public hangings might be a good place to start ...

Charity Funds Said to Provide Clues to Alleged Terrorist Plot
Officials Say Money for Attacks Came From Earthquake Relief
LONDON (WASHINGTON POST) - Tuesday, August 15, 2006

The transfer of millions of dollars from Britain to a Pakistani charity working on earthquake relief last year helped investigators uncover the alleged plot to blow up airplanes bound for the United States, according to two senior Pakistani intelligence officials.

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, said that a large portion of the money sent from Britain to the charity was siphoned off and ultimately used to prepare for the attacks. The officials said that about 5 million British pounds, or $10 million, was transferred to Pakistan, but that less than half was used for relief operations after the earthquake last October, which killed tens of thousands of people.

“British intelligence smelled a foul play the moment the transfer was made in December last year,” said one of the senior intelligence officials, who is directly involved in the investigation. “The innocent Pakistani souls in Britain who contributed so generously for the victims of the earthquake didn’t know that their money would actually be used for one of the biggest terrorist operations,” the other Pakistani official said.

British police are holding 23 suspects, most of them London-based Muslim men in their twenties. Intelligence officials have said that at least 17 of the suspects have family ties to Pakistan. A spokesman for Scotland Yard declined to comment on the money transfer. The Pakistani officials did not identify the charity in question. The New York Times reported Monday that investigators are focusing on Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a Pakistani charity that is a front for Lashkar-i-Taiba, an Islamic militant group.

In 2002, Pakistan’s president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, banned Lashkar-i-Taiba, but the group renamed itself Jamaat-ud-Dawa as a way to evade sanctions, according to the State Department. Lashkar-i-Taiba is one of the largest and best-trained groups fighting Indian forces in the disputed Himalayan province of Kashmir. Lashkar-i-Taiba has been linked by U.S. authorities to al-Qaeda.

According to Michael Clarke, a terrorism specialist at King’s College London, Jamaat-ud-Dawa played a considerable role in helping the residents of Pakistani-controlled Kashmir and northern Pakistan recover from the earthquake, which struck a region that is home to several camps and bases belonging to militant Kashmiri groups and other radical organizations linked to al-Qaeda.

Most Ridiculous Headline Of The Day

There isn’t much I can add to this headline. “Snarlin’ Boy George” takes to the streets today to sweep up the trash? Seems kinda redundant to me. Trash sweeping up trash while trash stands by taking pictures. Too much trash for me to handle. Get out the caterpillar and push all this trash off into the Hudson River ... if the EPA approves ...

80’s icon serving 5 days of community service
NEW YORK (CNN) - Monday, August 14, 2006 - 10:45 a.m. EDT (14:45 GMT)

With a city-issued broom in his hand, Boy George started his court-ordered community service early Monday, sweeping leaves and trash off the sidewalks of New York. It took less than an hour for the former Culture Club frontman to get into a spat with the media.

“You think you’re better than me?” he yelled. “Go home. Let me do my community service.” Boy George took to the streets of Manhattan as a Department of Sanitation worker wearing an orange vest, dark capri pants, shoes without socks, and without the wild makeup and androgynous style that made him so recognizable as the ‘80s icon who sang “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?”

“This is supposed to be making me humble. Let me do this,” he said. “I just want to do my job.” The singer, born George O’Dowd, was ordered to spend five days working for the Department of Sanitation after pleading guilty in March to falsely reporting a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment. The officers who responded found cocaine instead.

At 7 a.m. Monday, a sport utility vehicle pulled up at a Lower East Side sanitation depot. The agency planned to issue the singer a shovel, broom, plastic bags and gloves for the job of picking up trash on the city’s streets.

In June, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Anthony Ferrara issued a warrant for O’Dowd’s arrest after he initially failed to complete the requirements of his plea deal. When O’Dowd appeared in court 10 days later, Ferrara called off the warrant but warned the singer he could not escape his community service commitment.

“It’s up to you whether you make it an exercise in humiliation or in humility,” Ferrara told O’Dowd. O’Dowd, 45, initially envisioned a service project more in line with his status as an ‘80s icon. He petitioned to spend the time helping teenagers make a public service announcement. Among his other proposals to the court: holding a fashion and makeup workshop, serving as a DJ at an HIV/AIDS benefit or doing telephone outreach.

All Quiet On The Eastern Front

And so it looks like the fighting will wind down over the next few days ... unless Hezbollocks decides to keep to pattern and continues to fire rockets in spite of themselves. What are the odds that this “peace” will last more than 48 hours? It’s got to be a long shot.

At the very least, keep an eye on southern Lebanon over the next week. If Hezbollocks stays quiet and honors the ceasefire that means they just got their ass whupped badly. If, on the other hand, they decide to break the peace with rocket attacks that probably means they weren’t hurt bad enough. This will be a good barometer of how much damage Israel did to the terorist organization.

Of course, their leader Nostrallah and President Ahmawhackjob of Iran will declare a “great victory over the Zionist state” - which is typical bullcrap from these pencil-dick blowhards. Speaking of pencil-dick blowhards, I hear the Fwench are going to send a force to Lebanon as part of the peacekeeping force. Now that should be fun to watch. Let’s see how fast the Frogs can scurry for cover and surrender when the shooting starts ...

imageimageLebanon Ceasefire Takes Effect
LEBANON (AFP) - Aug 14 1:12 AM US/Eastern

A UN-brokered ceasefire deal aimed at ending the month-long war in Lebanon entered into force at 0500 GMT on Monday. The hours leading up to the agreed hour for an end to the fighting were marked by intense fighting, with Israel launching a series of air raids across Lebanon and Hezbollah firing a barrage of rockets on the Jewish state.

At least 38 Lebanese civilians and four soldiers were killed by Israeli fire as warplanes kept up their deadly bombing, police and rescue workers said, while five Israeli soldiers were also killed in action.

Israel said it would stop the offensive at 8:00 am (0500 GMT) Monday in line with a Security Council resolution passed unanimously Friday calling for a full cessation of hostilities. The Lebanese cabinet, which includes two Hezbollah representatives, also agreed to respect the accord, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s personal envoy, Geir Pedersen, said after talks with Prime Minister Fuad Siniora.

Earlier Sunday a Lebanese cabinet meeting on the question of disarming Hezbollah was postponed because the Shiite movement was standing by a refusal to give up its arms, a cabinet minister who declined to be named told AFP. “This is the moment of truth and they do not want to give up their arms. We preferred to accept a delay of the meeting to allow the discussions to continue,” the minister had said.

Israel meanwhile urged the world to apply the UN resolution firmly, warning that Hezbollah must be dismantled and the Lebanese army quickly deployed in the south. “The application of the resolution will depend on the will of the Lebanese government, but especially on the determination of the international community,” Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said in Jerusalem.

“It is clear that Resolution 1701 foresees the dismantling of Hezbollah and not only the disarming” of the militant group, she said. “We want to see the Lebanese army deployed immediately in south Lebanon.” The agreement to halt fighting raised hopes of an end to the bloodshed which has claimed the lives of more than 1,000 Lebanese and some 150 Israelis.

But with Hezbollah vowing to fight until the last Israeli soldier leaves Lebanon and Israel stressing that it will respond to any attack on its troops or rocket fire, it was unclear whether the cessation of hostilities would hold.

And the bloodshed went on as the clock ticked towards the agreed hour to end the fighting. In one of the deadliest raids, at least 15 people were killed, including three children, and 20 wounded by Israeli air strikes that hit eight buildings and a mosque in Beirut’s southern suburbs, emergency services said.

At least eight people were also killed and 30 wounded in Israeli air raids late Sunday near the ancient city of Baalbeck in eastern Lebanon, police said. In Israel a man was killed by a rocket attack in the north of the country as the Shiite militia fired a record 250 rockets at the Jewish state.

The Anti-War Movement’s Ugly Face

I found this over at ZombieTimes via LGF. ZombieTimes also has a complete gallery of the anti-war protesters that will turn your stomach. It never ceases to amaze me how vitriolic and deranged the anti-war Left can be. Then again nothing that happens in San Francisco surprises me any more. The signs carried by the protesters are full of hate, anti-semitism and just plain insane in some cases. Go take a look at all the signs and the “peaceniks”. I wouldn’t give a warm bucket of spit for the whole bunch. War is always an evil, ugly thing. These people, in their blind hatred and racist anger are much worse. This is the ugly face of the Angry Left ...

“Stop the U.S.-Israeli War” rally in San Francisco on August 12, 2006.

(SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE) - Thousands of largely calm but noisy demonstrators rallied Saturday in San Francisco to protest Israel’s military actions against Lebanon and Palestinian territories, while a smaller group staged a counter-protest.

Police arrested a demonstrator in a melee that started when a woman tried to burn an Israeli flag in the Civic Center after a midday march through downtown.

Police used batons to subdue the brief skirmish after tensions flared between demonstrators and counter-protesters, who were on opposite sides of Polk Street, separated by metal barricades and dozens of police officers.

The two groups exchanged insults and gestures periodically throughout the rallies. When the woman started to set the Israeli flag on fire, police in riot helmets rushed toward her and then other demonstrators joined the fracas, resulting in the arrest of one man, who police hauled from the crowd shirtless, blood trickling from a cut on his forehead. Police did not respond to messages requesting his identification.

Protesters chanted, “Long live Lebanon. Long live Hezbollah,” during a march down Market Street to Fourth Street before heading back for a second rally.

“A lot of children are dying in Lebanon,” said Sabine Antonios, 33, of Berkeley, as she breastfed her 9-month-old son, Sebastian, at the rally.

“We have to pass a message along that there are a lot people against what’s going on,” said Antonios, who is half Lebanese and has family in the war-ravaged country. “My dream come true would be to have war crime charges brought against Israel and the Bush administration. But I don’t think it’s all of a sudden going to happen because of (the protest).”
