Breaking The Law

What part of “ILLEGAL” do people not understand? America is a nation of laws and equal justice under those laws - at least that’s what we strive for in the land of the free and the home of the brave. You want to come to America? Fine. Pack up your gear, drag your butt over here, apply for an entry visa, get a job and contribute to our society, pay your taxes, learn about America, pass a few tests after a few years and you’re officially an American citizen. It’s that simple.

It’s the same process that millions before you went through, including my great-grandfather back in 1847. I was fortunate enough to be born here and I love my country. I welcome anyone who wants to come to America and join me - but there is a right way and an ILLEGAL way. If you choose the right way, then you and I can be buddies and I’ll buy you a beer. If you choose the ILLEGAL way then you need to be shipped out or locked up.

Here’s the way I see it - by choosing to come here illegally, you have chosen to flout our laws and you demonstrate a complete disregard for the rules that 300 million Americans live by. That is a sign of disrespect for me and my country and I don’t like it one bit. In fact, I will not tolerate it in any way, shape or form. By all estimates, there are approximately 11 million lawbreakers right now in this country and today they and their friends will be marching and protesting to protect their rights.

Do you want to know what rights an ILLEGAL immigrant has? He or she has the right to go back where they came from and stay out of America until they learn to respect the law. That’s it. There are no other rights. None. Ningunos. Niets. Aucun. Keine. κανένας. Nessun. どれも. 아무도. никакие. 无. Got that?

Thousands Rally for Immigrants Across U.S.

DALLAS (AP) - Hundreds of thousands of people banged drums, waved U.S. flags and marched in a protest Sunday urging federal lawmakers to pass immigration reform that would legalize an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. Shouting “Si Se Puede!” - Spanish for “Yes, we can!” - the marchers crammed into the downtown streets. They included families pushing strollers with their children and ice cream vendors who placed American flags on their carts. Many wore white clothing to symbolize peace.

Police estimated the crowd at 350,000 to 500,000. There were no reports of violence. It was among several demonstrations that drew thousands of protesters Sunday in New Mexico, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, Alabama, Utah, Oregon, Idaho and California. “If we don’t protest they’ll never hear us,” said Oscar Cruz, 23, a construction worker who marched among the estimated 50,000 in San Diego. Cruz, who came illegally to the U.S. in 2003, said he had feared a crackdown but felt emboldened by the large marches across the country in recent weeks.

In Birmingham, Ala., demonstrators marched along the same streets where civil rights activists clashed with police in the 1960s and rallied at a park where a statue of Martin Luther King Jr. stands as a reminder of the fight for equal rights and the violence that once plagued the city. “We’ve got to get back in touch with the Statue of Liberty,” said the Rev. Lawton Higgs, a United Methodist pastor and activist. “We’ve got to get back in touch with the civil rights movement, because that’s what this is about.”

Organizers in St. Paul, Minn., were surprised by the crowd - police estimated 30,000 - calling for change at a rally at the state Capitol. The rallies also drew counter-demonstrators. In Salt Lake City, Jerry Owens, 59, a Navy veteran from Midway wearing a blue Minuteman T-shirt and camouflage pants, held a yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. “I think it’s real sad because these people are really saying it’s OK to be illegal aliens,” Owens said. “What Americans are saying is ‘Yes, come here. But come here legally.’ And I think that’s the big problem.”

Sunday’s demonstrations come ahead of nationwide protests set for Monday, a signal that what began as a string of disparate events - attracting tens and even hundreds of thousands of people - has become more coordinated.

Do You Feel Lucky, Punk?

OK, I’ve about had a gut-full of some of you ass-wipes and your petty squabbling here in my house. Yes, that means YOU! I have watched the comments devolve into personal attacks lately and I’ve had enough. There are a few regular members here who are going to find their membership abruptly cancelled if this crap doesn’t cease immediately.

Normally, I do not censor comments and I just let things go where they may but it seems a few people are more than willing to take advantage of my good nature lately. No, I’m not talking about trolls. I’m talking about a few members here who seem to believe this blog is here just for their own personal soapbox. Screw that! This is my blog and the only soapbox here belongs to me. Period. If you can’t get that through your thick skull you’re about to get a lesson in Irish tempers.

The message is simple, clear and understandable by everyone: (1) your comments are welcome even if you don’t agree with me, as long as they are on topic or close to it; (2) your bullshit on personal agendas in the comments is not welcome and will be deleted; (3) keep your cussing and repetitive propaganda to yourself; (4) this is the only warning you will get. I am not going to watch this blog turn into a lunatic version of Democratic Underground. Got that?

New members: in case you haven’t figured it out yet, you have to go through one simple step in order to comment here - register and reply to the confirmation e-mail sent out by the system after you register. If you have some bloody e-mail spam-blocking software or e-mail provider at your end, you’re not going to get the confirmation e-mail and you will never become a member. If you use one of these spam-blocking services that requres people to “add” their address to your safe sender’s list, forget it. The system sends out these confirmation e-mails automatically and it has neither the intelligence nor the time to jump through your hoops. Either add the BMEWS sender’s address (allan “at” barking-moonbat.com) to your safe sender’s list or forget it.

In a related note: if you later change your e-mail address and don’t update your profile here the system will start getting bounced e-mails and that annoys the hell out of me. Your account will be deleted after the third bounce.

Summary: if you’re intelligent enough to buy a computer, boot it up and find your way here then I assume you’re intelligent enough to use your head and act like an adult. If not, go away. There are plenty of other blogs out there. Pack your crap up and take it elsewhere.

If you feel the need to test my patience on this, go ahead. Help yourself. Make my day ...

In keeping with the rules of the Geneva Convention, Al Qaeda today issued a statement on the second anniversary of the capture of Matt Maupin detailing how he is being well treated in captivity with special Western meals provided as well as a Bible to read and access to the P.O.W. prison library and frequent visits by the Red Cross and Amnesty International to deliver packages from home and to check on his well-being ...

Unfortunately, not a damn word of the above is true. Two years later and no one knows what happened to Matt. The insurgents have issued a video tape purporting to show their “execution” of the young man. Only one thing is sure: without a doubt, Matt is not being treated with the same kid gloves that the captured Al Qaeda fighters at Gitmo are being treated. Why? Because our enemy is nothing less than a savage band of barbaric murderers, thieves and cowards. They prefer to capture and torture female reporters and behead civilian workers. They are nothing more than wild animals and should be treated accordingly - shot on sight.

Your assignment today is simple: read the story of Matt Maupin and see if you can do anything to help find out what happened to him ... and while you’re at it, compare and contrast the courage, love and devotion of Carolyn Maupin to the insane venom of Cindy Sheehan. Two mothers with decidedly different attitudes toward their sons and what they stood for ....

Mom Holds Out Hope for Missing Soldier

BATAVIA, Ohio (AP)—Nearly 30,000 pictures of Matt Maupin are circulating around Iraq, a loving effort by his parents to locate the only U.S. soldier still listed as missing since his capture two years ago. Carolyn Maupin steadfastly hopes that someday, someone will recognize Matt, and he will come home.

She refuses to consider the alternative. “I honestly thought he’d be back by now,” she said. “I didn’t think it would take this long. Pictures of Matt are placed inside the boxes of goodies sent to troops in Iraq by the Maupins’ Yellow Ribbon Support Center—a storefront operation near the Sam’s Club where Matt used to work.

“We put 10 pictures inside each box with a little note asking them to please help us find him, and also thanking them for defending our freedom,” Maupin said. Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin is known as Matt because Keith is also his father’s name. He was a 20-year-old private first class in the Army Reserves when he was captured April 9, 2004, when his fuel convoy, part of the 724th Transportation Co., was ambushed west of Baghdad.

A week later, Arab television network Al-Jazeera aired a videotape showing Maupin sitting on the floor surrounded by five masked men holding automatic rifles. That June, Al-Jazeera aired another tape purporting to show a U.S. soldier being shot. But the dark, grainy tape showed only the back of the victim’s head and did not show the actual shooting.

The Army ruled it was inconclusive whether the soldier in the second tape was Maupin, and he has been promoted twice since his capture. After a routine review a year ago, the adjutant general approved an Army board’s recommendation to continue Maupin’s status as “missing-captured.” That has not changed, and there are no plans for another review, said Maj. Nathan Banks, an Army spokesman in Washington.

President Bush has met with Keith and Carolyn Maupin on trips to nearby Cincinnati, and they have been briefed at the Pentagon about efforts to find their son. The Maupins have helped get computers to soldiers in Iraq to give them access to e-mail and college courses, and they hope to raise $100,000 at a dinner-dance Sunday to fund scholarships in the name of area soldiers who have died in Iraq.

“They have a great deal of courage,” said Republican Rep. Jean Schmidt, an avid supporter who lives in Loveland near the Maupins’ hometown. “They’ve kept the candle burning for Matt; they’re also keeping it burning for every member of the military.”

A Nuke For Hitler

“The time has come,” the Walrus said, “To talk of many things: Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—Of cabbages—and kings—And why the sea is boiling hot—And whether pigs have wings.”

Yes, the sabres are rattling hard and fast. The noise coming from Iran grows louder every day. It should be no surprise then that the American government is starting to make contingency plans. This is only the second phase. The opening move was made by Iran with threats against Israel, supporting Shiite insurgency in Iraq, bragging about new weapons and proceeding with a nuclear program that is making the whole world nervous.

The rumors of war coming out of Washington are the counter-move intended to send a strong signal to the Mad Mullahs to back off. The next move will come from Iran and the madmen who are pushing the world to the brink of nuclear nightmare. I don’t think the BUsh administration is seriously planning a nuclear strike ... not yet. This is only a small warning being fed to the press, is my best guess.

We shall soon see whether the Mad Mullahs value their existence more than their ideology. The game is on and one can only hope that cooler heads will prevail. if not, we shall soon see if the sea is boiling hot and whether pigs have wings ...

Bush Planning Nuclear Strikes On Iran’s Secret Sites?

The Bush administration is planning to use nuclear weapons against Iran, to prevent it acquiring its own atomic warheads, claims an investigative writer with high-level Pentagon and intelligence contacts. President George W Bush is said to be so alarmed by the threat of Iran’s hard-line leader, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, that privately he refers to him as “the new Hitler”, says Seymour Hersh, who broke the story of the Abu Ghraib Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal.

Some US military chiefs have unsuccessfully urged the White House to drop the nuclear option from its war plans, Hersh writes in The New Yorker magazine. The conviction that Mr Ahmedinejad would attack Israel or US forces in the Middle East, if Iran obtains atomic weapons, is what drives American planning for the destruction of Teheran’s nuclear programme.

Hersh claims that one of the plans, presented to the White House by the Pentagon, entails the use of a bunker-buster tactical nuclear weapon, such as the B61-11, against underground nuclear sites. One alleged target is Iran’s main centrifuge plant, at Natanz, 200 miles south of Teheran.

Although Iran claims that its nuclear programme is peaceful, US and European intelligence agencies are certain that Teheran is trying to develop atomic weapons. In contrast to the run-up to the Iraq invasion, there are no disagreements within Western intelligence about Iran’s plans.

This newspaper disclosed recently that senior Pentagon strategists are updating plans to strike Iran’s nuclear sites with long-distance B2 bombers and submarine-launched missiles. And last week, the Sunday Telegraph reported a secret meeting at the Ministry of Defence where military chiefs and officials from Downing Street and the Foreign Office discussed the consequences of an American-led attack on Iran, and Britain’s role in any such action.

The military option is opposed by London and other European capitals. But there are growing fears in No 10 and the Foreign Office that the British-led push for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear stand-off, will be swept aside by hawks in Washington. Hersh says that within the Bush administration, there are concerns that even a pummelling by conventional strikes, may not sufficiently damage Iran’s buried nuclear plants.

Monster Rabbit

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the cabbage patch, Jimmy Carter’s Killer Swamp Rabbit appears to have swam across “the pond” and is attacking Brits in their vegetable gardens. This monster, which nearly ate the former President on a fishing trip in 1979, is on the loose again and no one knows who his next target will be. However, I would strongly urge MP George Galloway to keep a big stick handy since this beast seems to target lunatic politicians ...

“Monster rabbit” Targets Vegetable Patch

It sounds like a job for Wallace and Gromit. A “monster” rabbit has apparently been rampaging through vegetable patches in a small village in northern England, ripping up leeks, munching turnips and infuriating local gardeners.

In an uncanny resemblance to the plot of the hit animated film “Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit,” angry horticulturists in Felton, near Newcastle, have now mounted an armed guard to protect their prized cabbages and parsnips.

“They call it the monster. It’s very big—it’s nearly the size of a dog,” said Joan Smith, whose son Jeff owns one of the plots under attack. “It’s eating everything, all the vegetables,” she told Reuters. “They are trying to shoot it. They go along hoping to catch it but I think it’s too crafty.”

In the “Wallace” film, which topped both the U.S. and UK box office charts and in March won an Oscar for best animated feature film, the plasticine heroes battle a mutant rabbit bent on destroying their home town’s annual Giant Vegetable Contest. Those who say they have witnessed Felton’s black and brown monster describe it as a cross between a rabbit and a hare with one ear bigger than the other.

Its antics came to public attention when Jeff Smith, 63, raised it as an issue with the local parish council. “He came along to pay the annual fee for the allotment (vegetable patch) and he said ‘ooh we’ve got this big cross between a hare and a rabbit,’” the council’s clerk Lisa Hamlin told Reuters.

Smith himself has described it as a “brute” which had left huge pawprints. “This is no ordinary rabbit. We are dealing with a monster,” he was quoted by newspapers as saying. “It is absolutely massive. The first time I saw it I thought to myself ‘What the hell is that?’ “We have two lads here with guns who are trying to shoot it, but it is very clever.”

In The Beginning …

Just over 60 years ago, this little fellow shown taped to the log below became the ancestor of millions of terrorists who have plagued computer programmers for over 60 years now. This “Lord Of The Flies” was discovered by Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (who later developed the evil programming language, COBOL) trapped between points at Relay # 70, Panel F of the Mark II Aiken Relay Calculator while it was being tested at Harvard University, 9 September 1945. The operators affixed the moth to the computer log, with the entry: “First actual case of bug being found”. They put out the word that they had ”debugged” the machine, thus introducing the term “debugging a computer program”.

Unfortunately for mankind, the creature had already spawned and left behind numerous prodigy that spread quickly through the new machines in a manner reminiscent of a Biblical plague that Moses would have been proud of. Numerous attempts have been made to eradicate this evil species of machine terrorist with absolutely no success whatsoever. Entire legions of computer scientists have spent their lives devising new computer languages designed to shield software from these creatures (anyone remember ADA?), all to no avail. Decades have been spent in laboratories designing methodologies like the Capability Maturity Model and ISO-9000 to keep these radical suicide bombers at bay. It has been an exercise in futility.

No, mankind is doomed to defeat at the hands of these invaders into our computer companions. Even now, these creatures have bridged the gap between machine and man, inflicting their malicious logic defects into human beings, the most blatant example of which are Liberals, Leftists, Democrats, the French, Arabs and OldCatMan. The enemy has taken the fight to our very doorsteps. Our fellow human beings are being infected by these malicious organisms. What can you do? Easy. Find a Liberal, Leftist, Democrat, Frenchman, Arab (or OldCatMan) and rip their skull open. Then lean over the gaping gray matter and yell “SHUT THE F**K UP”. Note: repeated treatment may be necessary for some of these infected humans (like Z-Woof). Proceed with caution.

Army Hospital Picketers: ‘Thank God for Maimed Soldiers’

(CNSNews.com) - The man responsible for the “GodHatesFags.com” and “GodHatesAmerica.com” websites picketed the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Thursday with a dozen of his family members and followers. They carried signs stating “Thank God for Maimed Soldiers,” “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and “God Hates You.”

Fred Phelps, pastor of the independent Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., claimed the injuries and fatalities suffered by American military personnel are the product of God’s wrath.

“God almighty is punishing this evil nation by killing their kids over in Iraq and by maiming, crippling and mangling their kids over in Iraq,” Phelps told Cybercast News Service. “This nation is going to continue to be punished by God until they repent, but we don’t believe they’re going to repent.” See video.

Phelps believes military personnel share the blame for court decisions and legislation favoring homosexuality, even if those service members do not support that lifestyle.

“It’s irrelevant whether they as individuals support them. They joined an army and became a part of a military establishment, voluntarily, knowing that that military establishment was packed and jammed with homosexuals,” Phelps argued. “If they join an army that they know is a sodomite army and fight for a nation that they know is a sodomite nation, they are equally guilty.”

O.P. Ditch of Woodbridge, Va., retired from the U.S. Air Force, learned of Phelps’ planned protest and displayed his own printed sign at the main gate of the Walter Reed hospital.

“I disagree with anybody who comes to a military hospital and, you know, says trashy things like ‘God Is America’s Terror.’ I’m reading their signs right now, ‘Thank God for Maimed Soldiers,’” Ditch said “That’s the same word that Code Pink uses—‘maimed’ soldiers. They said the soldiers were ‘Maimed for a lie,’ and this guy’s using the same words.”

Bush: Democrats’ Leader Sunk Immigration Bill
‘I call on the Senate minority leader to end his blocking tactics’

WASHINGTON (AP)—President Bush blamed Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid on Saturday for the potentially fatal blow dealt to compromise immigration legislation. The landmark bill, which would offer eventual citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants, fell victim Friday to internal disputes in both parties. But Bush—echoing earlier complaints from Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennessee—sought to place all the blame on Reid, D-Nevada, who refused to permit votes on more than three Republican-backed amendments.

“I call on the Senate minority leader to end his blocking tactics and allow the Senate to do its work and pass a fair, effective immigration reform bill,” Bush said in his weekly radio address. Hailed as a bipartisan breakthrough earlier in the week, the immigration measure would have provided for stronger border security, regulated the future entry of foreign workers and created a complex new set of regulations for the estimated 11 million immigrants in the country illegally.

Officials said an estimated 9 million of them, those who could show they had been in the United States for more than two years, would eventually become eligible for citizenship under the proposal. Faced with a major setback only months before much of the Republican-controlled Congress is up for re-election, Bush sought to give life to the issue. Speaking mostly to conservatives in his party, he said border security must be improved and enforcement within the United States needs to be enhanced.

But in a nod to business leaders who support temporary worker programs that would ensure an easy supply of low-cost labor, he spoke passionately about the need to put out the welcome mat for those from other countries. “Immigration is an emotional issue and a vitally important one,” Bush said. “At its core, immigration is the sign of a confident and successful nation.”

The legislation was gridlocked as lawmakers left the Capitol on Friday for a two-week break. After bewildering political maneuvering, a key vote produced only 38 senators, all Democrats, in support—22 short of the 60 needed. “Politics got ahead of policy on this,” Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, lamented.

Man Gets One Year for Stealing Undies

MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP)

A 25-year-old man convicted of stealing hundreds of pairs of underwear was sentenced on Friday to one year in jail for his second conviction of stealing panties. Anthony Allen Scholfield was also sentenced to 10 years probation on Friday in Dunn County Circuit Court, following his guilty plea to a felony burglary charge in February. He had faced more than 18 years in prison.

“It sure could have been a lot worse. It’s a difficult crime,” said Scholfield’s attorney, Peter Morin. Scholfield had been accused of stealing three pair of thong underwear from a woman last summer. He allegedly broke into the woman’s home while she was out of town and stole what the woman described as “very distinctive-looking” underwear.

Scholfield was arrested a short time later after police found the underwear at his residence. Scholfield was convicted of a similar felony burglary in 2003. Police had linked him to the theft of 854 panties. His probation had ended days before the burglary last summer. Scholfield will have to register as a sex offender because of his crimes, said Dunn County District Attorney Kris Cusick. He must also undergo sex offender treatment and pay a $2,500 fine.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:

1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
