From The Halls Of Montezuma ….

.... To the parking lots of Ohio .... the US Marines are on guard. This one nabbed a purse snatcher. All in a day’s work for a Marine. Ooh-RAH!

image

Recruiting trip puts Marine in the right place

Marine Corps Sgt. Brandon Hampson was out looking for qualified applicants Monday when he found a purse-snatcher instead.

No sweat.

He just used another part of his Marine training, tackled the guy and held him until police got there.

Hampson, of Lancaster, aided in the arrest by the Chillicothe Police Department of Zachary Phillips, 21, of 5020 Bushmill Road. Phillips was charged with theft and taken to the Ross County Jail. Tuesday, he appeared in Chillicothe Municipal Court and was arraigned on the theft charge as well as one count of receiving stolen property.

Hampson, who joined the Marines four years ago because he said it is the best thing a young man can do, said he understands the desperation of people, but stealing from a grocery shopping mom and her kid should never be an option.

“They were there trying to do normal family stuff,” Hampson said. “No one was there to protect them. I was just glad I was there.”

The Lion King Is Dead

Sony Corp. yesterday stepped in with a consortium of other companies and bought the remains of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). They will divide up what remains of the once great movie company and it will disappear forever. Sam Goldwyn and Louis B. Mayer are crying in their graves. Say a last goodbye to “Leo” .... ROAR ....

Weird News

Today’s Darwin Award winner is brought to you by Tirana, Albania. When dynamite fishing is outlawed only outlaws will go dynamite fishing .. some only once.

What happens when cleavages collide? You get a bar-room brawl that is “tit for tat”. With pics that are not safe for work.

Newest US spy plane has only 13 inch wingspan, 7 inches long. Newest US Navy pilot recruiting poster reportedly searching for a “few good .. uh .. half-men”.

Woman registers complaint about neighbor’s loud TV by driving her car into their living room. Knight Rider unavailable for comment.

Medical problem du jour: Leeches up your nose. Gives whole new meaning to sinus attack.

A celibate Buddhist monk and a policewoman posing as a prostitute. What could go wrong with that scenario?

■ Finally, what weird news would be complete without the requisite picture of a broadly grinning Prince Charles and his new .. uh .. erh .. bride. The happy couple confessed and prayed for their sin of adultery, mourned the Pope’s death, got “hitched” (literally) and were last seen heading for a Motel 6 in Shropshire with the British paparazzi in hot pursuit. Memo to Britain: just think, in twenty years this .. uh .. erh .. woman could be the “Queen Mum”.

Saturday News Brief

General Motors pulls all of its ads from the Los Angeles Times. The Times is in denial, claiming GM is over-reacting.

GM’s move came a day after the L.A. Times published a column by its Pulitzer Prize-winning auto critic, Dan Neil, about the automaker’s brand strategy.

The column’s headline called the Pontiac G6 “a sales flop.” It also said the automaker should “dump” Chairman and Chief Executive Rick Wagoner and “let the impeachment proceedings begin.”

GM spokeswoman Ryndee Carney said the move to withdraw advertising was not spurred by any specific story but by “concerns over accuracy and misrepresentations with the paper’s editorial coverage over a period of some time.”

I guess the mainstream media (MSM) doesn’t understand not to bite the hand that feeds you.

A woman who recently sued Wendy’s after allegedly finding a human finger in her chili has a long history of filing lawsuits.

The woman who claims she bit into a human finger while eating chili at a Wendy’s restaurant has a history of filing lawsuits - including a claim against another fast-food restaurant.

Anna Ayala, 39, who hired a San Jose, Calif., attorney to represent her in the Wendy’s case, has been involved in at least half a dozen legal battles in the San Francisco Bay area, according to court records.

She brought a suit against an ex-boss in 1998 for sexual harassment and sued an auto dealership in 2000, alleging the wheel fell off her car. That suit was dismissed after Ayala fired her lawyer, who said she had threatened him.

People like this woman are why our courts are overcrowded and companies have to raise prices to keep lawyers on staff. I say give her the finger.

The US Postal Service wants to raise rates, price of stamps .. again.

The Postal Service said the price of a first-class stamp would rise to 39 cents from 37 cents early next year if the increase is approved by the Postal Rate Commission, an independent body that oversees the post office.

The increase comes as part of a broader 5.4 percent rate rise that the Postal Service will apply to most packages.

The stamp price increase is needed to cover a $3.1 billion payment that Congress requires the Postal Service to make to its employee pension fund. The agency has sought congressional action to eliminate that requirement. If that happens, postal officials said, the rate increase request will be withdrawn.

Hmmmmm .... the USPS’ service just gets worse and worse and they keep raising prices? Yep, that makes sense.

First spammer convicted under new anti-spam laws gets nine years in jail.

But defense attorney David Oblon argued nine years was far too long given Jaynes was charged as an out-of-state resident with violating a Virginia law that had taken effect just weeks before. He planned to challenge both the constitutionality of the law and its applicability to Jaynes.

Actually, ninety-nine years and a day would be too short a sentence, in my opinion .. and while they’re at it, send his lawyer to the electric chair .. just because.

Foreign Moonbats

bat Remember Norway, home of that assmunch who accused us of being stingy?

Well, his government is run by a bunch of politically correct moonbats.  Well, we kinda knew that already but this one is REALLY special.

A Norwegian minister said that the government would CLOSE (that’s in shutter/bar/lock) the doors of companies that do not meet a minimum of 40% recruitment in women in their boardrooms by 2007.  And not only shut them; the government would LIQUIDATE their assets!!!!

In other words, they are taking away a woman’s right to choose to stay at home.

So is this how liberal socialism works?

Of course, the feminists will be cheering this ruling.  But it was never about “equal rights” after all, was it? It was always about activist rights.

Who the hell wants to live in a hellish place like that?  I hope Norwegian CEOs get smart and shut their doors now.  Maybe go to Ireland.  Then I’d like to see how they’d raise tax revenue to support their government dependant masses.

bat Going to Peru soon?

Don’t take a taxi or a bus.

Why?

many drivers have psychopathic tendencies

OOOOPS!

Yesterday I posted how a New Mexico city council member had said he wanted the Minutemen in his state.

I guess someone got carried away or his constituents read him the riot act.

He has now denied ever saying anything like that.

I say he got his balls handed to him and that’s why he’s speaking up.

I therefore take back what I said about him being a presidential candidate.

Assclown!

Should He Stay Or Should He Go?

You may have heard about the guy trapped in an elevator for four days.  If not, read this.

Now, did you know he was an illegal alien?

Did you also know that he was told he need not fear deportation?  Oh, yeah!  Straight from the INS’ mouth, too.

And if you wonder why millions of people stream across our borders, you need read nothing more than this:

The disclosure of Chen’s immigration status raised questions about how the information became public. Under city rules, police are allowed to seek a victim’s residency information for investigative purposes, but they may not disclose it to anyone else.

But it gets worse.  The mayor of New York, an alleged Republican, said this about how the press found out about his status

“it’s unconscionable. His immigration status had nothing to do with it whatsoever and should not have been divulged, clearly.”

Are you still wondering?

So, should he stay or should he go?  Remember, your answer will underscore your true feelings about illegals in this country and the mockery they make of our borders and laws.

My vote:  back to China!!!

Of Course, The Euro-Peons Will Do Nothing

Mugabe, the brutal dictator of Zimbabwe says he’s coming to the Pope’s funeral (isn’t that a bit like Adolf Hitler (if he were alive) going to, oh, let’s say, Golda Meir’s funeral?)

Anyway, the EU has a ban on his travel.  He’s coming anyway.

Any bets on them doing nothing about it?

Sounds like the UN and its resolutions, eh?

Education News

Remember when I posted about the English wanting to put in place a system where no child got less than a “C” grade?

Guess what those socialist assclowns want to do now?

drop the current national curriculum and scrap A-levels and GCSEs

All this in hopes of winning over student voters!

Who’d a thunk it?

How crass!!!!  Unless I have this all wrong it’s like saying our high school students either need no diplomas or just need a pass/fail grade.

Maybe LyndonB can come to my rescue again and explain this.  But look, even after the fine explanation we got on this O levels and A levels business over there (read the comments in the post linked above) I still get a bit confused sorting it all out.  It was like reading about the Rules Of Cricket:

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.

When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.

There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

The Governator Takes on The EPA

I wish him lots of luck on this one.  Ah-Nuld wants to relax EPA rules that stand in the way of developers trying to build more housing for the Californicators populating that state.

Tip to the Guv:  call them.  Warn them.  Then start picking them off one by one starting at the top.

You’ll have more housing built than you can shake a stick at.

Another Take On The DeLay Story

If you recall, Tom DeLay recently made a comment about activist judges related to the death sentence they pronounced on Terri Schiavo.  He said this:

“the time has come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior” and that Congress should “look at an arrogant, out-of-control, unaccountable judiciary that thumbed their nose at Congress and the president.”

Dems got unhinged.  Coupled with the other two stories floating around about him, they are smelling blood.

But is everything they are doing based on fact or just a typical smear campaign.

And just WHO ARE the people behind this campaign?

That’s why you should read this story.

Domestic Weirdness

bat Imagine yourself sitting around doing your job.  Your wife gets kidnapped.  10 years go by.  Do you give up hope?  Who knows?

But what would you do if after 10 years she shows up?  And you find out she’s been living with her kidnapper?  And then she says she was kept against her will--but was never tied up?

Sorry, I smell a rat.

bat

More GREAT news from our hallowed universities.  It’s bad enough that the professors teaching there are so full of shit but apparently they steal shit, too!  Then try to cover the stink up with money.

Yes, from Harvard, I bring you a professor who from now on should be called, “Dr. Horseshit.”

bat You are a criminal. You get caught.  Your lawyer defends you and says you are competent to stand trial.  You get convicted.

You appeal.

You represent yourself and say your lawyer was wrong and that you are INCOMPETENT.

Prison officials ought to immediately sterilize this moonbat so he does not procreate any more than he may have already done.

Oh, and he’s a real “MOON"bat, too.  He’s tried filing mining claims on asteroid belts, Jupiter, etc.

bat This could very well have implications for OCM.

A friend gets arrested.  You go post bail.  You use currency which smells like dope. They arrest you for possession.  The next morning, the friend you came to bail out has to come bail you out.

How stupid can people be?

Yeah, I’d Like To Know, Too!

Some people in Washington are curious to know why the latest presidential commission found details on failures of our intelligence community leading up to Iraq that were not found earlier.

Yep, inquiring minds sure would like to know:  “what did they know and when did they know it?”

Read about it here.

Minutemen Hijinks

The Minutemen are having way too much fun along the border. Now they’re forcing illegal aliens they spot to pose for pictures wearing funny t-shirts .... then letting them go .... and then calling law enforcement to catch the greaser.

Something about that just appeals to my sense of justice .... and humor.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
