terrorists and gypsies and prisoners must have more “rights” says left.

Good gosh.  If you read the comments section after the article, you get the strong impression that many of the people really believed their PM when he said he’d do away with this sort of thing.
He said he would yeah.  But he only meant it at the time said and it was forgotten by the next promise If not well before. .  That’s what politicians do. Even the ones we think we like and trust.
Anyway, this is one of those truly stupid ideas that only the left can dream up. And will enforce whenever given the opportunity. Now that you can trust.
Take a look at this mind bender.

PRISONERS, TERRORISTS and GIPSIES SHOULD BE HANDED MORE HUMAN RIGHTS, DECLARES EQUALITY QUANGO

By IAN DRURY

Prisoners, gipsies, terrorists and union activists routinely have their human rights abused, a highly controversial report will claim today.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has spent at least £150,000 ( $ 236,487.17 ) of taxpayers’ money publishing a review into how public bodies safeguard people’s rights.

The left-wing quango, led by former Labour politician Trevor Phillips, has concluded that ‘more could be done to improve human rights protections of some,’ which also included vulnerable people in care homes and victims of crime.

But it contentiously calls for more rights for groups that include criminals, travellers and gipsies on illegal camps, and suspected extremists.

Some of the EHRC’s conclusions will spark anger because they are in defiance of the rulings of law made in Britain’s courts and decisions made in Parliament.

In one of its most controversial findings, the report, due to be published this morning, states that prisoners should be given the right to vote. In February last year, MPs voted to continue to deny inmates a chance to vote in elections despite a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights.

But the report, called How Fair Is Britain?, states: ‘Human rights… apply to everyone, even unpopular minorities.

‘Offenders may be punished with a prison sentence, which means a denial of their right to liberty. Treating the right to vote as a privilege to be removed for bad behaviour is a disproportionate interference with a fundamental right.’

The report also states that travellers and gipsies had no choice but to occupy sites illegally because local authorities had undermined their rights by failing to provide land for caravans. Evicting them therefore contravened Article 8 of the Human Rights Act – the right to a private and family life.

Right. That damned article 8, an invention of the Euro-peeon left, their court and union. And imposed on the UK. Go ahead, call me chicken little but I tell ya folks, if the left gets their way and I know I keep saying it, the USA won’t be far behind that one world one law ONE ARTICLE nightmare, but in our case it will be another association writ in stone that joins us to Europe.  Not so far fetched I don’t think.  Look what the left has already brought us to in just two generations.

‘Gipsy and traveller communities face a shortage of caravan sites,’ the report claims. ‘This means it is difficult for them to practise their traditional way of life.’

It echoed a claim by the Strasbourg-based Council of Europe last week that October’s eviction of 80 families illegally camped at Dale Farm, near Basildon, Essex, was an outrage against human rights.

Tory MP Philip Davies said: ‘I don’t really think the commission needed to spend tens of thousands of pounds telling us we need more human rights – that’s the reason for its existence. It seems a complete waste of money.

‘In many cases the people who the commission says are not getting human rights have forfeited them.

‘Do prisoners think of the human rights of the victims of their crime? Do travellers think of the human rights of those whose land they illegally camp on? Not for a second.

Red Leader, Red Leader, Do You Copy?

In case you haven’t seen it, the latest article from Andrew Breitbart:

The reason that Obama’s Alinskyite past, and his many appearances in political photography and video from the 1990s, are conspicuously missing from the national dialogue is that State Senator Barack Obama’s reinvention as a reasonable and moderate Democratic politician could not withstand scrutiny of his political life.

For those who didn’t know just how red Fearless Reader really is, or for those who may have momentarily forgotten. The Love Song of Saul Alinksy.

In The Audacity of Hope, Barack Obama claims that he worried after 9/11 that his name, so similar to that of Osama bin Laden, might harm his political career.

But Obama was not always so worried about misspellings and radical resemblances. He may even have cultivated them as he cast himself as Chicago’s radical champion.

In 1998, a small Chicago theater company staged a play titled The Love Song of Saul Alinsky, dedicated to the life and politics of the radical community organizer whose methods Obama had practiced and taught on Chicago’s South Side.

Obama was not only in the audience, but also took the stage after one performance, participating in a panel discussion that was advertised in the poster for the play.

And there was his name, right on the poster advertising the play. Baracka Obama. Baracka? Misprint? Not hardly. Senator Baracka Obama.

This was also the period just before Barack Obama served with Bill Ayers, from 1999 through 2002 on the board of the Woods Foundation. They gave capital to support the Midwest Academy, a leftist training institute steeped in the doctrines of—you guessed it!—Saul Alinsky, and whose alumni now dominate the Obama administration and its top political allies inside and out of Congress.

Stanley Kurtz, author of Radical-in-Chief, described the Midwest Academy as a “crypto-socialist organization.” Yet almost no one has heard of Midwest Academy, because the media does not want you to know that the president is a radical’s radical whose presidency itself is a love song to a socialist “community organizer.”

In itself this can be spun to be meaningless. But half a dozen of the dozen panelists there were known commies, and proud of it. And the rest? Perhaps Baracka should know that if you lie down with dogsa, you get up with fleasa. Not that he’d bother to scratch; these are his friends.

Coincidentally, another story sticking it’s head up today, via the latest WikiLeaks: the 2008 Obama campaign got big green from Big Red: Obama received campaign donations from the Russians. Hey, that’s against the law!

First, the Democratic Party engaged in election tampering, a felony, by stuffing ballot boxes in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Second, the Democratic Party paid Jessie Jackson six figures to keep his mouth shut about political issues during the 2008 campaign. It was widely known at the time that Jackson had no use for Obama. And third, Russian money went to the campaign of Barack Obama much as Chinese money went to the campaign of Bill Clinton during the 1990s.

Wow. Radical.

really ignorant wankers ….. raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacist

I suppose it could get even more politically correct and dumber.  That’s why I’m not asking, does it get any dumber then this? Cos of course it could.

I am not one who supports unions but here’s a case of ppl I generally despise who actually have done no wrong.  In fact, I’m their side in this ONE example of our loony tune world.

How could anyone with a brain link this ancient thing to race?  And of all the dumb things to do, why did anyone think it necessary to say sorry if offense was caused.  Only a total idiot, a brainless twit with no idea could have come up with a racial slant.  But hold on.

The person or persons who thought it was racist obviously also thought the three wise monkeys looked like guess who?  And are they saying at the same time that those same ppl aren’t able to spout any wisdom?  Now that smacks of raaaaaaaaaacism.  Granted, I’ve seen many who .... nah. Won’t go there.

Workers in FOUR YEAR legal battle costing £200,000 ($316,670) finally cleared of racism over innocent Three Wise Monkeys leaflet

· Unison branded cartoon ‘offensive’ as the committee criticised contained a single black member
· They mounted full-scale investigation and banned group from holding office
· Pamphlet producer says the racist slur was a ‘pretext’ for kicking them out
· Unison is considering another appeal which could costs tens of thousands

By EMILY ALLEN

A group of union activists have been cleared of racism for producing a leaflet with an image of the Three Wise Monkeys proverb - after a £200,000 legal battle.
The Unison branch members chose the picture of the ‘hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil’ monkeys to mock their leadership for failing to tackle issues.
The ancient Japanese saying is a gentle insult routinely applied to those who deliberately ignore an unwelcome truth and the four thought it would make an effective satirical point.

The Unison branch members chose the picture (pictured) of the ‘hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil’ monkeys to mock their leadership for failing to tackle issues

But bosses of Britain’s biggest public sector union branded the cartoon ‘offensive and racist’ - because the 15-strong committee criticised contained a single black member.

And the chairman of its National Black Members Committee said the pamphlet ‘belonged in the past with Bernard Manning’.

Officials mounted a full scale investigation and banned the group from holding office in the union, which represents over 1.3 million workers.

The so-called Unison Four, who had already apologised for any offence caused, claimed they were victims of a witch hunt and sued the union.

But it took a four-and-a-half legal battle costing up to £200,000 for justice to be done.

One of the pamphlet producers, Glenn Kelly, 50, accused the union of a ‘scandalous waste of money’.

The four were all hard-left members of the Socialist Party seen as rebels by the New Labour loyalist leadership and Mr Kelly said the racist slur was a ‘pretext’ for kicking them out.

The Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled that the four were unjustifiably disciplined under the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act.

It upheld the findings of an earlier tribunal that the four were ‘committed anti-racists and have fought against racism’.

It accepted that the cartoon was intended to suggest the leadership was ‘closing its mind to and ignoring issues that concerned the membership’.

It also concluded of the four: ‘It is obvious to anyone looking at the cartoon that it is meant to represent the well-known image of the three wise monkeys who see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.

‘It never occurred to them that anyone would take it out of context and consider it to be racially offensive because one member of the committee, the chairman, was a black man.’

The EAT panel also ruled: ‘The right to freedom of expression entitles a union member to reasonably express his opinions on internal union matters generally and the right to freedom of association must entitle members of the union to influence the policies and actions of their union.

‘The disciplinary measures that were imposed on them preventing them from holding any office in their union plainly had a serious effect on the exercise of their freedom of expression and their freedom of association and that of their members who voted for them.’

comrade commissar for euro human rights court warns UK.

Some stories of interest with regard to Europe’s cancer.
You folks in the USA won’t see this where you are.  You are lucky to be mostly far removed.

I’ve had this for a few days not being sure how I wanted to present it.  But the latest comment from the usual left wing idiot socialist gas bags at the European Human Rights courts, decided me on posting the web pages with links and let you see just how F****D up euro-weenies can be. And they want others to agree to their twisted thinking.

In brief.  You will recall if you’ve been visiting this site over time, that there was a great brouhaha over a traveler’s ILLEGAL camp site which took ten years to resolve.  They were illegal from the start and they knew they were. So last year they were finally and forcibly removed. That’s it. That’s all. End of story. Erm ... well maybe not.

An ass wipe by the name of Thomas Hammarberg, who happens to be a European Human Rights Commissioner, has opined the following.  Notice please what the idiot who can not die soon enough to please me, has said re. Dale Farm;

Thomas Hammarberg, Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe, said the eviction of travelers from the illegal Dale Farm camp last year was a violation of their rights, ‘highly regrettable’ and must never happen again.
Britain is undermining the rights of gypsies and travelers to housing which is ‘culturally acceptable’ to them.

euro-weenie court

So in other words it was not legal or moral or correct to move the sponging SOBs, even though they themselves were in violation of the law and were in place illegally. I won’t even take time to go into all the collateral problems they caused the community they invaded. For those of you reading this who do not know, Dale Farm was the largest illegal camp site in Europe.
Meanwhile, here in the UK, The Council of Europe also runs the European Court of Human Rights, which David Cameron is currently trying to reform following its repeated interference in decisions made by British courts and Parliament.

Okay so.  We’ve got two kinds of the same sort of ppl. One group is from Eastern Europe and mostly Romanian, the other travelers and mostly I am told, Irish and English. I have read that the Irish branch are somewhat smarter and more lawyered up.  I don’t personally have any knowledge of the truth of that. Doesn’t matter anyway because both are serious problems.
But for this post …. the subject is the lying, thieving, teach em all as kids; The Roma Gypsies.
Take a look at this and if you really wanna be impressed, see the link. Cos it is impressive in a negative sort of way.

Gipsy pickpockets’ palaces: The mansions built by Romanian family of thieves who robbed train passengers while they slept

By REBECCA CAMBER

In Britain, they claimed to be destitute, living on benefits and scrounging from tourists to whom they sold the Big Issue.  (a street magazine)
But in fact the Rostas family had five huge palaces in their Romanian homeland, financed by the proceeds of a massive pickpocketing racket here.
These are the gaudy mansions the family of Roma gipsies built after stealing hundreds of thousands of pounds from commuters, snatching mobile phones and cash as they dozed on late-night trains from London to Kent.

The stolen phones were sold in Romania to generate huge profits which the family used to build this 16-bedroom villa. A few streets away four similar blue-roofed palaces, all decorated with the Mercedes car emblem to symbolise wealth, are shared by other members of the extended family.

All are unfinished to avoid paying Romanian property taxes.

image

Police believe the family may be part of a wider criminal network spread across Europe, operating in Britain, Ireland, Spain and France. One neighbour, Artur Potra, 42, a retired engineering technician, said: ‘They have never worked in Romania. They just steal, steal, steal. They started out trading stolen whisky and cigarettes in the 1990s before they moved into Britain.

BUT WAIT ..... THERE’S MORE.  Look here.

‘Con Air’ gypsy gang members who flew to Britain in £800,000 benefit fraud told to pay back just £17.65

By RICK DEWSBURY

Two members of a ‘Con Air’ Roma gypsy family who jetted in and out of the UK to pocket more than £800,000 ($1,267,478) in benefits have been ordered to pay back just £17.65p.  ($23.30)

Ramona and Dorina Dumitru were part of a gang that cheated taxpayers out of hundreds of thousands of pounds in what was described by a judge as a ‘flagrant’ attack on the benefits system.

The fraudsters used forged home office documents and job references to illegally obtain national insurance numbers, which they used to claim a range of state handouts.

Gang members claimed benefits under two different aliases at the same time, and boosted the payouts they received by inventing children, producing what they said were photographs of the non-existent youngsters.

Some of the claimants did not live in the UK at all while making benefits claims, with one woman making regular flights into the country from Romania to collect their payments.

Today in a proceeds of crime hearing at Southwark Crown Court Ramona Dumitru, 34, who claimed she had six children, aged between two and 13 years old, was ordered to pay back just £16.65p of the £81,106.33p she netted.

Dorina Dumitru, 39, who used both her name and an alias was told she would only have to repay £1 despite having pocketed £101,333.27 after the court heard she had no assets.

Gum stolen from the UK being used as currency on black market in Romania

Police warn supermarkets to security-tag boxes of chewing gum to combat bizarre crime wave
MATT CHORLEY

Chewing-gum theft has become big business for criminal gangs who smuggle the confectionery across Europe to be used as a substitute for cash on the streets of Romania.

Prosecutors warn that the bizarre crime wave is now a “major problem” in cities across the UK, with thousands of pounds’ worth of gum stolen from shops. The Crown Prosecution Service warned yesterday that those caught will face the “full force of the law”, including jail.

Police believe organised gangs have identified a “soft target” in stores, where large amounts of stock are routinely left on shelves. In many cases, thieves simply load boxes of gum into trolleys and walk out. A number of forces claim the gum is sent to Romania, where shops and kiosks give chewing gum to customers instead of change, though Romanian diplomatic sources have played down the idea.

Dean Lampard, a CPS prosecutor, said: “The theft of large quantities of chewing gum is becoming big business. The police have told us this specific crime has become a major problem up and down the M5 corridor, as well as in other parts of the country.”

His warning came after two Romanian men were jailed last week for thefts worth more than £1,000. Ciprian Petw received a 24-week sentence for stealing £550 of gum in Norfolk and Taunton. He was picked up by police with a large foiled bag in Asda, Taunton, while out on bail for the Norfolk theft. He was found guilty at Taunton Magistrates’ Court of going equipped for theft. He had previously shoplifted in Manchester, Elgin and Suffolk, as well as Norfolk, and had made enough money to fund a trip home to Romania for Christmas, the court heard. Meanwhile, Fane Raducanu pleaded guilty to stealing chewing gum worth £430 from the same Asda store. He was given a six-week custodial sentence.

Police say similar raids have been carried out in Hounslow, Northampton, Hull, Newcastle, Slough, Worcester and North Yorkshire. From April to July last year, there were seven thefts of large quantities of gum in the Shrewsbury area alone. “Since then, it’s continued,” PC David Walton from West Mercia Police told The Independent on Sunday.

“We are not talking about a couple of packs; we are talking about five, six, seven maybe eight hundred pounds’ worth in one go. It became apparent it was just Romanian nationals. The chewing gum has a tangible value back home. If you are making a purchase in a shop on a street corner or a kiosk, if they don’t have sufficient change, they will give you strips of gum. The bottom line is it’s going back to Romania. People are loading up the trolley and brazenly walking out with it.”

PC Walton says the problem also goes “all the way up the M1”. The thieves avoid alcohol, meat and razor blades – where supermarket security is known to be tighter – and instead target the sweets aisles. Supermarkets have been encouraged to security-tag boxes of gum and reduce the amounts they keep on display.

THEY EVEN STEAL GUM

There was a published photo last week sometime, of a 6 or possibly 7 year old who was being supervised by an adult gypo while the kid shoplifted.
They actually do train them that young.

this is where freedom dies with a boot stamping on its face

Left-wingers shifted their focus from economics to issues of group identity.
Instead of attacking the capitalist West for oppressing the workers, they attack mainstream society for oppressing marginalised or minority groups that were held to be victims of the majority.

Hugely aided by human rights law, such groups then became immune from criticism

The rest of it is below and comes from a Melanie Phillips editorial. As does the title headline for this post. Why bother?  Because I really fear the sky could fall on the USA one day, as it’s already done here. And based on some comments by some of you, it seems it started there a while ago.

Very often we come across stories so bizarre, or sometimes just so silly and sometimes funny, that an old and much used expression comes into play.  That being, ‘you couldn’t make this up.’
It once had a bit of punch to it but it’s now used so often that my reaction in these utterly dumbed down and pol. correct times is, oh yes I can.

We are faced today with true stories of human folly (nothing new there) and a so totally illogical way of thinking and accepting behavior that perhaps a hundred years ago or even fifty, that expression would apply.  That’s because today, the norm is really so bizarrely surreal, that it is no longer correct to say, you couldn’t make it up because clearly, you darn well can.  Just think it and give it a week or so and someone somewhere will be promoting it. Promoting what?  Doesn’t matter. Whatever. Just make it up. It’ll fit.

It’s in that spirit that I now share a small part of an article that as usual has to do with race but actually less race then total stupidity.
Could any of us have made this story up?  Sure we could.

Mother of boy asked ‘Are you brown because you’re from Africa?’ slams school for branding episode a ‘racist incident’
By DAMIEN GAYLE

The mother of a schoolboy who was asked whether he was ‘brown because he’s from Africa’ today blasted the school for turning the innocent question into a ‘racist incident’.
Nicola Allen, whose son was four at the time of the incident, said the matter had been blown out of proportion after Griffin Primary School in east Hull launched an investigation into playground comments made by Elliott Dearlove.
She insists she never accused seven-year-old Elliott of being racist following the comment. She also says she believes the child is being unfairly treated.

source

Here’s where and how it started.  One kid age 7 asking a 4 year old a question.

Boy, 7, branded a racist for asking schoolmate: ‘Are you brown because you come from Africa?’
By RUSSELL MYERS

The mother of a seven-year-old boy was told to sign a school form admitting he was racist after he asked another pupil about the colour of his skin.
Elliott Dearlove had asked a five-year-old boy in the playground whether he was ‘brown because he was from Africa’.
His mother, Hayley White, 29, said she received a phone call last month to say her son had been at the centre of a ‘racist incident’.
She was then summoned to a meeting with Elliott, his teacher and the deputy head of Griffin Primary School in Hull.
Ms White claimed she was asked at the meeting to read a copy of the school rules and in particular its zero-tolerance policy on racism.
‘I was told I would have to sign a form acknowledging my son had made a racist remark which would be submitted to the local education authority for further investigation,’ she said.
‘I refused to sign it and I told the teacher in no way did I agree the comment was racist.
‘It seems the matter has been taken out of all proportion and common sense seems to have gone completely out of the window.’

source

Well, there’s the background and the links but this column in today’s Mail by the ever brilliant Melanie Phillips is very much worth your time.

A seven-year-old branded a bigot. How on earth have we come to this?

By MELANIE PHILLIPS

The word ‘Orwellian’ has become over-used to the point of cliche. Yet there is really no other way to describe the deeply sinister, upside-down onslaught upon common sense that has extended even into the school playgrounds of politically correct Britain.

The aim was originally to create a kinder, gentler world — with a commitment to eradicating racial or any other type of prejudice.
Supporters of these beliefs profess to loathe and detest bullying, with teachers instigating school playground patrols and ‘anti-bullying weeks’ to stamp out this hateful practice.

And yet, in pursuance of these aims, we have witnessed the rise of the widespread State-sponsored bullying of children.
The latest example was the experience of a seven-year-old boy from Hull, whose mother was astounded to be told by his primary school to sign a form admitting he was racist.

So what was the heinous act this child had committed to cause him to be branded in this way? Why, merely to have asked a five-year-old boy in the playground whether he was ‘brown because he was from Africa’.

What on earth is racist about that question? It does not express a hateful dislike of, or racial superiority over, another person on account of the colour of their skin. It merely wonders, in a child-like way, about the reason for that colour.

It is thus a perfectly inoffensive question from a curious child. The reason for the five-year-old’s brown skin is, indeed, that his ancestry lies in another continent.

So how can a correct assumption constitute a prejudice? The school’s gross over-reaction suggests that racism is being redefined to include not only hateful references to someone’s colour, but any reference to it at all.

Real racial prejudice is, indeed, a horrible thing. But such wildly inappropriate labelling is to trivialise and thus effectively deny the harm done by truly vile attitudes.

Witch-hunts are bad enough in themselves; but to make a child their target is really quite obscene.

Because of their immaturity, children cannot be held to account for their behaviour in the same way as adults. When the young killers of toddler James Bulger were tried for his murder, there was uproar among progressive folk over the fact they were being made to stand trial because they were just children themselves.

Yet it would seem that those whose collective heart bleeds for child killers are nevertheless intent upon branding seven-year-olds as enemies of the people — just for displaying an attitude that some bureaucratic Big Brother wannabe deems to be beyond the pale. The seven-year-old from Hull was by no means an isolated example. The extent of such state-sponsored bullying amounts to a kind of playground Inquisition.

Last year, it was revealed that teachers were branding thousands of children as racist or ‘homophobic’ following what were merely playground squabbles.
In total, 34,000 nursery, primary and secondary pupils — including more than 20,000 pupils aged 11 or younger — were effectively classed as bigots for so-called ‘hate speech’.

One child was called a racist for calling a boy ‘broccoli head’ (on the basis the vegetable looks a bit like Afro hair); another was said to be homophobic for telling a teacher: ‘This work is gay.’

A six-year-old was said to have been reported by his school to the local authority after telling an ethnic minority friend: ‘Your skin is the colour of poo.’
A ten-year-old child was arrested and brought before a judge for having allegedly called an 11-year-old boy a ‘Paki’ and ‘Bin Laden’ during a playground argument in which the other boy had called him ‘a skunk’ and a ‘Teletubby’.

Back in 2006, after a 14-year-old schoolgirl asked a teacher if she could sit with a different group to do a science project as all the girls with her spoke only Urdu, her teacher actually called the police.

The girl was arrested and taken to a police station, where she was fingerprinted, photographed and placed in a bare cell for more than three hours. She was questioned on suspicion of committing a racial public order offence, and then released without charge.

Ludicrous, or what? Yet this over-reaction is actually mandated by law.

Under the 2000 Race Relations Act, teachers are obliged to report any incident that is perceived to be racist by the victim or anyone else as ‘hate speech’ — even if it is committed by a child.
Of course, it is not just children who are being subjected to such vilification on the grounds of offending some interest group or other. Last week, Channel 4’s advertising campaign for the sequel to its hit show My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding was attacked as racist for saying it was ‘Bigger. Fatter. Gypsier.’ What on earth is offensive about ‘gypsier’? If a sequel to the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding was advertised as ‘Bigger. Fatter. More Greek’, would that be said to be racist? Of course not.

This witch-hunt is going on all the time.

Who can forget the experience ten years ago of farmer and writer Robin Page, who was arrested on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred after making a speech at a pro-hunting rally that began: ‘If there is a black, vegetarian, Muslim, asylum-seeking, one-legged, lesbian lorry driver present, I want the same rights as you.’

Such reaction by the police and other officials in responding to trumped-up claims of ‘hate speech’ is the kind of behaviour we associate with Eastern Europe under communism.

So how on earth has Britain, the historic cradle of liberty, got itself to the point where it conducts witch-hunts against children for expressing ‘forbidden’ views?

It all stems from the collapse of socialism, after which Left-wingers shifted their focus from economics to issues of group identity.

Instead of attacking the capitalist West for oppressing the workers, they attack mainstream society for oppressing marginalised or minority groups that were held to be victims of the majority.

Hugely aided by human rights law, such groups then became immune from criticism and were encouraged to complain about their treatment.
Moreover, how people felt became much more important than anything they actually did.  So if such a victim group claimed to have been insulted, that was regarded as proof that an insult had actually occurred.

This replacement of objective reality by subjective feelings was a recipe for turning truth and justice inside out.

When George Orwell created his fictional ‘thought police’ and ‘Ministry of Truth’, he was attacking Stalinism and its attempt to re-configure human psychology itself.

Incredible as it may seem, that’s what we have in Britain with ‘political correctness’, which should more properly be called cultural Stalinism — a regime of oppression and intimidation in which even innocent children are being branded as bigots.

A kinder, gentler world? No, this is where freedom dies with a boot stamping on its face.

PHILLIPS

And speaking of yes, I could make it up.
And you’d all say, it’s gross beyond words but probably true. It could happen.
And it did. I’m almost sure you read about it in the states.

A male gave birth to a baby. He (I guess she?) had been undergoing hormone treatments etc., born a female, changed gender but … kept her (his? It?) womb. So anyway, mommy has a beard and the whole thing is disgusting and I am not I realize being very charitable or kind.  For which I am sorry. Sort of.  Cos it’s something I don’t know how to deal with. Then of course, it is not my business to deal with anyway.

Oh Please. Again but different subject.

Just what the Brits with all they already gave on their plate need.  A lefty has been idiot actor from Hollyweird telling the Brits what to do.
What a schmuck is Sean Penn.  Long before I even knew who he was, like when he was married to what’s her name, I always thought his face somehow resembled a putz.  Maybe that’s why she liked him?  Don’t know why but it just looked that way.  Now it’s grown older.

So now they’re at it again.  One of their unions (dockhands) are warned not to unload or service Brit ships.
Angry words back and forth and in steps the putz penn.

Hollywood actor Sean Penn has criticised Prince William’s deployment to the Falklands in a second attack on Britain in two days.

Madonna’s ex-husband was condemned as ‘moronic’ by Tory MP and former Army officer Patrick Mercer yesterday for claiming Britain’s continuing hold on the Falklands was ‘colonialist, ludicrous and archaic’.

But the left-leaning actor showed he cannot keep his mouth shut over the islands by accusing the UK of ‘insensitivity’ for posting William to the disputed South Atlantic territory and labelling Britain a colonial dinosaur for the second day running.

The double Oscar winner went on the attack again after a meeting with Uruguayan president Jose Mujica in Montevideo - less than 24 hours after he savaged Britain over the Falklands during his visit to Buenos Aires to see the Argentine president Cristina Kirchner.

Penn, who once called for U.S. president George W. Bush to be impeached over the Iraq War, met both state leaders in his role as Ambassador-at-large for Haiti.

He condemned criticism of his attack on ‘colonial’ Britain as ‘hyperbole’ and again insisted on calling the islands by their Spanish name of Las Malvinas.

Grinning smugly as he praised Uruguay as a ‘model of development in the world’ he added: ‘My oh my, aren’t people sensitive to the world colonialism, particularly those who implement colonialism.

Penn, who has received praise from crackpot Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, insisted he was proud of America’s long-standing alliance with the UK but felt he had the responsibility to criticise when criticism was due.

And he said that while he understood and respected the wish of people living in the Falklands Islands to remain British, they should also understand the need for Argentina and Britain to negotiate the sharing of the islands’ natural resources.

And here’s our hero with his pin up poster boy, Hugo Chavez. Don’t they look like they belong together?

For any Brits passing through here. Just so ya know. Not all Americans approve of this jerk.  Only the idiots of which we have a few. A few too many. Sadly. But not the majority I’d bet.

The Falklands are by gosh British!

No, It Takes One Person Willing To Push

“It Takes A Village”

yeah, but only if everyone cooperates

An observation on life in a communist microcosm.

We live in a condo park. On the ten or so roads in this little village there are 438 housing units in 55 buildings of about 8 units each, with parking everywhere in between. Everyone pays a fat monthly fee to the condo association, and they in turn supply the water, hire people to mow the lawn, plow the snow, collect the garbage, run the pool, maintain the buildings and generally keep the place neat and tidy. Sure, we have a bunch of silly rules (eg these units are all electric, yet everyone must have a CO detector, and the state comes around every couple years to inspect it), but most of the time it’s pretty cool.

We don’t have individual garbage cans. Instead, every other building has a nicely finished wood corral with a 5 yard dumpster inside, and the truck comes around twice a week.

We don’t have individual recycling either. We have commingle, and every other other building has one of those wooden corrals just for recycling. The problem is, down at our end of the village, that 5 buildings share this 1 corral, and inside are just 3 giant garbage can bins and a shelf for newspapers and cardboard. Which are supposed to be cut to size and bundled with string. Sure. In theory. In theory the recycling guys come by every week. In theory. Every Friday.

It’s only Wednesday and the recycling corral is an overflowing disaster. All 3 bins are overflowing, several plastic bags of commingle are on the ground, there is cardboard in willy-nilly heaps all over the place, and loose newspaper everywhere.

We’re all supposed to take care of the corrals, and not make a mess for our neighbors to deal with. Riiiiight.

The truth is that when more than 3 people are responsible for anything, no one is actually responsible for it at all. When it takes a village, or even a good part of a neighborhood, and nobody is watching, it never gets done. One person either has to do the work, or crack the whip.

So when I took our recycling over there this afternoon, I spent a few minutes trying to neaten the place up. Again. There really wasn’t too much I could do; that corral gets too much traffic and needs more carrying capacity. So I took 5 big boxes that hadn’t been broken down or tied up, and set them up on top of the bins to hold even more recycling. I hope that will be enough until Friday. Then I went back inside and called the office, and requested - again - that we get at least 2 more bins for that corral. I don’t see what else I can do.

Come Saturday, I’ll go back out there with a knife, some twine, and a snow shovel to scoop up some of the mess. Again. Seems I do this about every other month. It’s not my job.

On top of one of the heaps of waste paper was a 2011 calendar someone was getting rid of. It was a whole year of piggy pictures, done by Eide and Flynn, who have made a good career out of animal photography. So I took it, and I’m thinking of making up a sign. I can use one of the piggies, which really are adorable. Make it cute, make it funny, and maybe people won’t be insulted. Too much. In theory.

image

Now, all I have to figure out is how to say “Clean up your effing mess you lame-ass shite-crusted crotch weasel, we’re sick of it!” in a charming and humorous diplomatic manner.

pc health police shut down hospital burger king

This is I gather, what happens in a socialist nanny state.  What an outrage.
It is not as though Burger King doesn’t sell salads and other items with less calories and fat.  But that aside, there are damn few hospital cafeterias and none in our area, that are worth much.  So personally, I’d welcome mouth satisfying food as served by BK. And it isn’t like I eat there every day or even every month.
Why can’t people choose for themselves without having other people decide for them?

And talking about sending out the wrong messages.  I have seen a few medical staff who didn’t exactly fit the image of exercise and healthy eating.
I wonder what sort of brainwashed world this new generation born in 2012, will see in 2037 when I won’t be here to see it for myself.  And perhaps I won’t want to witness it all and so might be lucky.  They’re being born into a world where everything will be proscribed for them.  Things will be forbidden but it won’t matter since they won’t grow up in a world where they’ll have the experience of choice.
Pessimistic I suppose but that’s how I see it.

Hospital facing $4.8m cuts forced to pay $31,395 to shut Burger King on its site

Fast food store which opened in 1997 has been replaced by Costa Coffee

By ROB COOPER

An NHS trust paid £24,000 to shutdown a Burger King restaurant inside a hospital.

The outlet in the entrance area of Croydon University Hospital in Surrey has sold burgers and high fat meals to patients for 14 years.
But it was replaced with a Costa Coffee outlet at hefty cost to the taxpayer in December last year following pressure from health campaigners.
The £24,000 ($31,395) cost is enough to cover the salary of lower grade nurse for a whole year.

They accused the hospital of hypocrisy for taking money from the fast food chain at a time when Britain is undergoing an obesity crisis.
The Burger King was located close to notice boards promoting healthy eating.
Explaining the decision, Croydon Health Service said the ‘world had changed’ since bosses signed the contract with Burger King in 1997 to open the fast food restaurant.
Figures obtained under freedom of information laws reveal the NHS Trust paid £24,000 to Compass UK - the company operating the fast food franchise - to terminate the contract.
The trust said none of the money would go to Burger King itself.
The hospital has to find £34.7million savings over the next three years and has been forced to axe 200 jobs and close four wards.
Hospital bosses hope to claw back some of the money by opening a new pharmacy in the entrance area.
The decision has been welcomed by Croydon North MP Malcolm Wicks.
The Labour MP said: ‘From the first time I saw the wretched burger joint, I was upset about it.

“The trust said none of the money would go to Burger King itself.”
They make it appear as if money going to BK would be a high crime, and saying that none of the money would go them, makes it look more like an apology.  But we’re not giving money to “those people.”

A Labour MP. Tells ya all you need to know.  Not that many conservatives don’t deserve a swift kick. The left is ever happy to be outraged or offended on behalf of others and will happily do the thinking for others as well.

‘Advertising and selling fast food, which is generally unhealthy, really grates with what a modern hospital is about.
‘I’ve badgered successive chief executives about getting rid of the thing, so I wouldn’t criticise the hospital for finally taking the right decision, though the costs are substantial.’
Folake Segun from patients group Croydon Shadow Health Watch said: ‘Hopefully the trust will take the opportunity to properly consult with the community before bringing in such companies in the future.’
he original contract was signed in 1997 between the hospital’s landlord Heathcrof Properties and Compass UK.
Croydon Health Service chief executive Nick Hulme said the hospital had never had direct control over what businesses operate in the entrance area.
He said: ‘We made a business decision to invest in this change which will give our patients and visitors a better service.’

Wanna bet? Don’t hold your breath for that. It’s what they always chant. It’s a mantra. Better service, we’ll learn from our mistakes, it’s good for the kids who are our only concern, yadda, yadda.  It all translates to, stop thinking for yourself. We know what’s best for you.

Churchill might be more then just dismayed

I said what I wanted to in a previous post, so this one will stand alone.

No explaining needed as you will see.

Mr. Randall has it right, as usual.

And btw .... his column appeared to late for him to mention the latest demand, not passed into law as yet, by the European court he mentions here.
The news lately has been focused a bit on kids not being disciplined or held to any standard, because parents have become fearful of being accused of child brutality for mere spanking.  Not talking now about actual child abuse, but where a parent might simply swat a kid’s backside for being naughty. Well, the European court through a spokesman has said that ALL member states (which includes Britain) should immediately make it a crime to spank or use corporal punishment of any sort on any child. Spanking they said, is violence against children and violates children’s human rights.  They are as usual full of s***.

What kind of people have we become?

Churchill would be dismayed by modern Britain’s capitulation to jackboot egalitarians

By Jeff Randall

Between Christmas and New Year, the 70th anniversary of an event, which in no small way helped change the course of history, passed almost unnoticed. On December 26, 1941, less than three weeks after Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor, Winston Churchill addressed both branches of Congress in the United States. The prime minister, who was in Washington to agree military strategy with President Roosevelt, used the invitation from Senators and Representatives to excoriate the Axis powers and pose a simple question: “What kind of people do they think we are?”

This wasn’t Churchill’s finest oratorical effort, but it was clever. As well as denouncing the forces of darkness and the enormity of their aggression, it was an invitation to ordinary Britons, suffering the horrors of war at home, to reflect on the challenge ahead. He was, in effect, asking fellow citizens: “Of what are we made?”

Seven decades later, one wonders how the great man would view the kind of people the British have become. What has happened to the freedoms and independence for which he urged us to fight? It’s hard to imagine our wartime chieftain being anything other than dismayed by the erosion of sovereignty, capitulation to the “equalities industry” and enslavement by debt. We have lost control of domestic borders, ceded legal primacy to Europe and allowed the Storm Troopers of political correctness to stamp their corrosive version of right and wrong on British law.

For evidence of our self-inflicted abasement, look no further than this month’s ruling from Europe’s Court of Human Rights that Abu Qatada, a radical Islamist preacher, regarded as one of al-Qaeda’s main inspirational leaders in Europe, cannot be deported from Britain to his native Jordan because his trial there might have contained evidence obtained by torture.

According to a recent government report, some 3,775 former foreign prisoners, who were in line for deportation by the UK Border Agency, have been released from custody and are living here, most thanks to Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the right to a family and private life. A Nigerian rapist was due to be sent home after losing a series of appeals in British courts over his jailing for an attack on a 13-year-old girl. But Strasbourg’s worthies insisted that they must protect the culprit’s “social ties” with Britain, which had blossomed while he defied expulsion.

Are we really powerless to resist this nonsense? It would seem so.
One reason is the complicity of Britain’s home-grown human-rights obsessives and jackboot egalitarians who, in the words of sociologist Peter Saunders, professor emeritus at the University of Sussex, “seek nothing less than hegemony for their moral values and beliefs”. This requires the unconditional surrender of adversaries and the criminalisation of those who dare to oppose. It’s a war of attrition through relentless assaults on popular consciousness by masters of subversion.

Their goal, according to Prof Saunders, is “eroding the ideals of independent thought, self-reliance and personal responsibility and replacing them with the language of thought-crime, group rights and equal outcomes”. This is modern Britain, where a foreign-born paedophile cannot be put on a plane back to Pakistan but traditional Christians are arrested for disobliging comments on homosexuality — a triumph of intolerance over faith.

After 13 years of the Brown Terror, ( ref. to the former left wing Labour govt ruled for 13 miserable years , italics peiper ) during which reckless state borrowing and out-of-control consumer debt masked economic and social failure, the Coalition is trying to reverse a pernicious tide of grievance culture and something-for-nothing expectations. George Osborne claims: “We are reducing welfare entitlements, imposing new conditionality on benefits and capping overall awards.”

That, at least, is the aim, but an insurgency of human-rights lawyers, grandstanding bishops and professional do-gooders is defending every ditch. Only this month, a Romanian living in the UK, who claims to make a living selling the Big Issue, but qualifies for more than £25,500 a year in benefits, was told by a court that she was not receiving enough. Despite objections from the local council, she was awarded an additional annual housing allowance of £2,600. Chancellor, please take note.

Do not conclude, however, that the immigrants are to blame for this mess. Who among us faced with a choice between penury in a Bucharest rat-hole and £500 a week in handouts plus a subsidised home would not be on the train to London? The only surprise is that so few are already here.
What’s more, the influx of foreign workers is forcing us to confront a problem which those seeking to blame high levels of unemployment entirely on public-spending cuts would rather ignore. Why does London have the highest rate of youth joblessness in the country when so many services in the capital are underpinned by newcomers?

Last week,Pret a Manger, which pays above minimum wage, admitted to the London Evening Standard that only 19 per cent of its payroll is British (in London the figure is far lower). Are we really saying that our education system is so poor and work ethic so diminished that Britain can no longer produce staff suitable for a sandwich shop? That is the conclusion of many business folk to whom I put this question, though they prefer sanitised phrases such as a “deficit of lifestyle skills” instead of the less euphemistic “welfare addiction”.

Given that 70 per cent of Britain’s state-educated pupils do not even take GCSE history, never mind pass it, one can bet confidently that the majority of young people trying to enter a difficult jobs market will never encounter the Churchill question: what kind of people do others think we are?

And Now, The Show Trials Begin

What a load of nonsense and projectionist hypocrisy. Politics at its dirtiest, an episode of smoke and mirrors staged to create deniability that “there side does it too!!!!!!!”

Indiana Sec. State On Trial For Voter Fraud

Indiana’s top elections official is himself facing allegations of voter fraud.

Secretary of State Charlie White, a Republican, is in the unusual position of being the person entrusted to protect the integrity of the ballot box, while at the same time fighting seven felony charges involving allegations he registered to vote at his ex-wife’s house and served as a local councilman when he actually lived outside the district.

Notice how even Fox News, which leans further to the left every single day, plays the name-that-party game. The guy is GOP, so they tell us that almost instantly. Had he been a Donkey, it would not have been mentioned.

White has claimed he spent four nights a week living at the home of his ex-wife, Nicole Mills, because his then-fiancee, and now wife, Michelle Quigley White, did not want them to live together until they were married. Mills’ house was inside the Fishers Town Council district that White represented at the time, but he had purchased a condo outside of his district lines to live with his second wife.

White was indicted in March, accused of fraud, perjury, theft, voting in the wrong precinct, submitting a false voter registration change of address and casting a “false, fictitious or fraudulent ballot.”

“Charlie White registered to vote at a place he didn’t live. That was in contravention of the law,” said Karen Celestino-Horseman, a lawyer for the Indiana State Democratic Party, which brought the allegations against White at the Indiana Recount Commission. “It was not his residence.”

“Under Indiana law, when you register to vote you have to have the intent to make that your residence ... but he had already bought a condo,” she told Fox News, saying the condo where he really intended to live with his new wife was not in the council district.

“By not registering outside the district, he was able to stay on the Fisher Town Council and receive $1,000 a month. If he had gone in and changed his registration officially, the Democratic members would have been notified that he had moved out of the district.”

For White, it has been a dizzying journey that, at times, has seemed to leave his job hanging by the proverbial thread. But he has steadfastly maintained his innocence.

Oh, so they busted him for stuffing the ballot boxes, filling out thousands of fictitious voter registration forms, and getting the graveyard to vote twice in the last election? No.
They busted him for buying a new home in the wrong neighborhood and not living there more than half the time. Because, you know, no one else on earth owns more than one residence, vacation home, or income property. The charge is that he committed something like “future fraud” because it was his INTENT to live at the new place full time at some point in the future, therefore he was gaming the system NOW.

What a load of cobblers.

And where is the stalwart GOP in his state? What support is he getting from his party brothers and sisters? Friggin’ Zilch, of course. “Stand By Your Man” is a tune no Republican knows the words to.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Republican, has called on White to resign, something White says he will not do. White has told reporters he has the support of the people, and that his case was known to voters at the time he was overwhelmingly elected.

Whatever happens, the case has already damaged the credibility of the election system, Democratic lawyer Celestino-Horseman said. “Having violated something as basic as the voter registration system does not build confidence in voters, regarding our electoral process.”

Oh boo hoo, the credibility has been damaged because of this. Oh noes!!!!11! GFY ya damn hippie fascist. You’re just as full of it as your masters at the DNC.

Only In Russia

Soviet Era Missile Sub Still Burning Nope, it’s out now

Only in Russia would the outside of a submarine catch on fire. At least this one was docked. And being worked on via wooden scaffolding. No word on whether toxic fumes are being drawn inside the boat through it’s screen doors.

image

A number of crew members of a Russian nuclear submarine that continued to burn overnight at a drydock are reportedly trapped inside the smouldering vessel.

The Yekaterinburg, one of Russia’s largest nuclear subs, was undergoing repairs in the northern Murmansk region when the blaze broke out late on Thursday.

It quickly spread from the shipyard’s wooden scaffold to the 11,740-tonne vessel’s outer hull, with footage of the incident showing the submarine engulfed in flames.

On Friday morning, fire crews were still struggling to put out the blaze at the Arctic drydock, which is located close to the border with Norway.

It would take “a few more hours” to fully extinguish the smouldering outer rubber shell, which minimises radar tracing, according to emergency situations minister Sergei Shoigu.

The Delta IV class submarine, which was commissioned by the former Soviet Union in 1985, can carry up to 16 intercontinental ballistic missiles and is one of six in a class which form the backbone of its sea-based nuclear defences.

The Interfax news agency reported that the damage from the fire could be so extensive that the submarine would need to be scrapped.

However, deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin, who is in charge of the nation’s military industries, said the vessel would rejoin the navy after repairs.

UPDATE: they got the fire out finally ...
by dragging the sub out of the dry dock and putting it under the water. Genius solution!

MOSCOW — Firefighters extinguished a massive fire aboard a docked Russian nuclear submarine Friday as some crew members remained inside, officials said, giving assurances that there was no radiation leak and the vessel’s nuclear-tipped missiles were not on board.

Military prosecutors have launched an investigation into whether safety regulations were breached. President Dmitry Medvedev summoned top Cabinet officials to report on the situation and demanded punishment for anyone found responsible.

No leaks, and no missiles on board. Of course not. Nothing to see here, move along.

Daily Mail has a real good cover of the story here, with plenty of pics and sidebar info.

There ya go

From the beginning, Occupy Wall Street was a huge progressive political Lollapalooza, an operation supported by unions and Democrats, planned and coordinated by career anarchists, and populated by students and fellow travelers. It quickly descended into a circus, a freak show, and a crime scene.

The Obama campaign, the Democratic Party, and the media colluded in an attempt to create class war in America in the pursuit of getting President Obama re-elected and ending the momentum of limited government conservatism as embodied in the Tea Party.

READ IT ALL, in staggering detail, at Breitbart. A well done essay, indeed.

IL? Better Than That

Not Just IL, DEAD

North Korea’s Kim Jong Il, Dead at 69

image

loser  two_thumbs_up  trophy  LOL  LOL  LOL  trophy  two_thumbs_up  loser

Kim Jong Il, North Korea’s longtime leader, has died at 69 of a heart attack, state TV reported on Monday in a “special broadcast.”

State media reported that Kim suffered the heart attack while riding a train on Dec. 17, and that he had been treated for cardiac and cerebrovascular diseases for some time. It said an autopsy was done on Dec. 18 and “fully confirmed” the diagnosis.

“It is the biggest loss for the party ... and it is our people and nation’s biggest sadness,” an anchorwoman clad in black Korean traditional dress said in a voice choked with tears. She said the nation must “change our sadness to strength and overcome our difficulties.”

Kim ruled North Korea with an iron fist for 17 years. He succeeded his father, revered North Korean founder Kim Il Sung, after the elder Kim’s death in 1994. The nation remains one of the last remnants of the Cold War era, and is heavily isolated.

Kim maintained absolute control of his country and kept the world on edge with erratic decisions regarding the country’s nuclear weapons program.

Madeleine Albright is said to be devastated by the death of her hero and has not yet released a statement.

court in Malaysia and big mouth nitwit jesse jackson declare bush blair guilty

Some things are so stupid they amuse, others so stupid they anger.
I’m not too sure what to make of this. I mean, just who are these pipsqueaks anyway?
I’m certain they have no real jobs or profession. Or none they are working in.
Pumped up with left wing importance they pontificate on world affairs, as though they and their little country matter in any big way.  And it’s reported here by another one of those folks with a name nobody except his mother can pronounce.

So this is funny. Sort of.  They really take themselves quite seriously. Schmucks!  woo-hoo. Bush and Blair will be frightened.

Bush, Blair found guilty of war crimes in Malaysia tribunal
By Mahi Ramakrishnan, Press TV, Kuala Lumpur

image

Former US president George Bush and his former counterpart Tony Blair were found guilty of war crimes by the The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal which held a four day hearing in the Malaysia.

The five panel tribunal unanimously decided that Bush and Blair committed genocide and crimes against peace and humanity when they invaded Iraq in 2003 in blatant violation of international law.

The judges ruled that war against Iraq by both the former heads of states was a flagrant abuse of law, act of aggression which amounted to a mass murder of the Iraqi people.

In their verdict, the judges said that the United States, under the leadership of Bush, forged documents to claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

They further said the findings of the tribunal be made available to members of the Rome Statute and the names of Bush and Blair be entered into a war crimes register.

Both Bush and Blair repeatedly said the so-called war against terror was targeted at terrorists.

Lawyers and human rights activists present here say the verdict by the tribunal is a landmark decision. And the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Foundation said it would lobby the International Criminal Court to charge former US president George Bush and Former British prime minister Tony Blair for war crimes.

But this isn’t so funny.  This pisses me off on more then one level.

Now then, before Lyndon flames me in the possible mistaken belief that I would defend Tony Blair, rest assured L. that were I to do that, my wife would see it as grounds for divorce and mental instability on my part. No, what bothers me big time is, what damn business is it of that blinking, pompous ass, that disingenuous pc leftist Jesse Jackson, to come here to England and demand that a former Brit Prime Minister (no matter who he is) be tried in some court for war crimes.

No American has any god damn right to come here and do that and I don’t even care were that American a right wing conservative.  What is not our business is best left to Brits.  Being critical on blogs of crime in the streets and how justice is administered or as usually the case, is not, is fair game. They do it to us too.  But what this country doesn’t need is some would be head of state (now that’s a horror story worthy of Stephen King) coming here and giving a speech passing his lefty legal judgement on a former PM. Or any other elected official.  If it bothers me when foreigners do it to us (USA) it also bothers me in this case.

Jackson addressed a conference on radicalisation at a university yesterday.
The ignorant big mouthed bag of poo said that “killing innocent civilians with unmanned drones was an act of terrorism the same as suicide bombings.”

I wasn’t aware btw, that Britain used any drones in Iraq, and the way this lying bastard speaks, one would get the impression (entirely mistaken) that civilians were a prime target.

Things must be slow for Jackson in the USA. I guess he had to come here for an audience that would listen.

There’s a word for Jesse.  Isn’t there?
