Vilmar’s New Voting Proposal

Unless you’ve lived under a rock the past few days you’ve heard about all this last-minute voter registration brouhaha and may also be concerned about its effects on the general election.  Not to mention the rapid degradation of civility as it relates to elections in recent years.

Me?  I’m worried about the entire scope of the actions by these 527 groups and the fact that most of them are taking place in counties run by and lived in predominantly by Democrats.  There are even reports of the NAACP going into jails and registering people.  Granted, as long as they are not felons that’s fine but given the actions of Fuckface’s supporters (violence, break-ins, shootings, etc.) I would not be surprised to read later on that a huge fraud was perpetrated by the NAACP at these jails.

Check out this article from the Palm Beach Post to get a feel for what I am talking about.

In addition to the rules broken in this post from a couple of days ago we also have instances of hundreds if not thousands of registration forms collected months and months ago but ONLY NOW being dropped off, at the last minute, to purposely undermine the process and cause confusion and disruption at Supervisor of Elections Offices. This is done, no doubt, so that review of the forms becomes more lax.

We have hundreds of instances of incomplete forms with local lawmakers DEMANDING they be accepted anyway because the registrant’s “intent” was to fill it in.  Visions of hanging and dimpled chads, anyone?.

We even have many forms not even signed!!!!

Result?  Lots of these new voters may not receive their voter cards.  And do you think they will check before the elections to find out why they’ve received nothing back?  FUCK NO!!  They will wait until after the election and then file a lawsuit saying they were disenfranchised!!  Leading the way will be assholes like Representative Meeks, Jesse Jackson, the ACLU, the NAACP, Al Sharpton and all the other race baiters in this country (not to mention the “international monitors!!")

We HAVE to change the way we do business as it regards voting.  So my proposal is actually quite simple.  We roll back the clock and completely re-vamp election laws and take us back to rules in effect 30-40 years ago or more.  To wit:

1.  No more motor-voter bullshit.  If you are too fucking lazy to register correctly, you do not deserve to have a right to vote.  Get off your fat, lazy ass and get involved.  It’s YOUR country, fuckwad!  Take an interest in it.  It is not the responsibility of government to hold your hand and walk you through the process.

2. No more early voting. PERIOD.  You vote on the day of election and that’s that.  If you can’t make it, tough shit.  It’s not my problem and I should not pay higher taxes to fund an elections supervisor’s office with lots of people working in it to cater to your laziness by running ads, encouraging you to request absentee ballots and staffing said offices to run your fat-assed lazy ballot through the machinery, etc.

3. Absentee ballots?  Except for the infirm, elderly without means to arrive at polling stations or military, do away with them.  Hell, make it so that you need a note from a doctor (who will be liable for immediate revocation of his practice license if he falsifies the papers) stating a person can not appear at the polling station (bed bound, incapable of driving, etc.) Believe it or not there are people in mental health facilities registering the mentally infirm to vote!!!  You think these people have a clue?  Or will they check off what they are told by some over-zealous partisan hack (Dem or Rep?) If you have to be away on business---OOPS!!!  Too bad!  Make arrangements before hand with your elections supervisor.  Get called away at the last minute?  It’s not MY problem.  Nor should it be anyone else’s but yours.  If businesses honor federal holidays they can also halt business travel for one day.  They do not need to shut down--just suspend travel.  Hell, once every couple of years is not that high a price.

4.  ABSOLUTELY require social security card plus proof of ID (birth certificate from a US hospital or naturalization certificate otherwise) and a statement attesting to where you live (utility bills, rental contract, mortgage contract) to register to vote

5.  Require states to run those social security numbers to make sure the voter is not registered elsewhere in the US.  This will reduce the fraud of people living in one state, vacationing in another and then voting in both (one in person and the other by absentee.) Plus it helps keep tabs on the itinerant or criminal elements of our society.

6.  Require voters to show valid ID (not some stupid VISA card or college ID with a picture on it) before being allowed to vote.  This can be a driver’s license (or similar ID issued by the state in lieu of a license), a military ID, or a passport.

That’s it.  For now.  Until I make it even more difficult.

Hell, you may not like what I just said but what I’ve witnessed over the past few years is a process where certain people are trying to make it so easy to vote (because the citizenry is so apathetic) that fraud and misuse are rampant---and standard operating procedure.  I can not sit by idly and allow our system of government to become corrupted by those with agendas who would use illegal means to achieve their goals. (that goes for Dems and Reps) We all know that anything achieved easily and with little effort is easily scorned and not appreciated.  Is that what is happening to the voting process?  Changing it to make it a bit more difficult will “separate the wheat from the chaff” so to speak.  What you’d have left are those that truly believe in the process and will make the extra effort to vote because they would be the ones truly vested in assuring America’s future.  The lazy non-voters become nothing more than spectators in the process--as they should be.

As far as I am concerned, if people do not want to vote that is their right.  Personally I think they are irresponsible and abdicating their responsibilities as citizens but.........since they have a right to be stupid, why not this, too?

On the other hand, I see where those that DO vote will actually have a voice in what is going on and will not compete in a banana style republic system where millions get paid off for voting the way they do.  I need go no further than my county.  28 percent of the registered voters showed up for the primaries.  As you know, al that’s required is 50% plus 1 for someone to win.  So what we had was 14% (plus 1) of the general registered voter population making the decisions for the other 86% AND the rest of the county/state/country who are not registered or can not vote.  To me, THAT’S a strong voice.

Think of the advantages:

OK, now that I’ve pissed you off, tell me what’s wrong with my plan.  I just spent 30 minutes brain dumping and writing this so I probably overlooked a few things and there may be small segments of people I’ve missed but overall, I think it is a wonderful plan.

Then again, I AM the Benevolent Dictator!  I WOULD think that, wouldn’t I?

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
