Tsunami News

The pleas for help and assistance continue.  The warnings of scam artists are also rising.

Me?  I do nothing.  Since my government has already decided to give $350,000,000 of our taxpayer dollars to this effort, I’ll leave it at that.  (And people wonder why “other than disaster” giving to charities is down?)

Here’s a letter from a professor in Sri Lanka begging for help. Hopefully they printed my comments.

Speaking of Sri Lankans, this guy lost (or thinks they’re dead) 72 members of his family. Muslims believe in 72 virgins for every terrorist bomber who dies in the name of Allah.  I wonder if this is how Allah harvests his virgins?  Whacks a whole family, recycles them into virginity and has them available for the next sheethead to come his way?

OK, OK, that was a bit over the top but you have to understand the area hit was rife with leftist, terrorists, radical Islamists PLUS their government refused to accept Israeli aid if soldiers came along.  I can’t get too excited.

Concerns grow that marine life will take centuries to re-establish itself. Probably from the same group of enviro-wackoes that tried to tell us we’d run out of oil by 1996 (we keep finding more and more); that the world’s population would be decimated by starvation by 2000 (it did not happen); that global warming would raise the ocean’s levels 20 feet by 2005 (it hasn’t) and that the ozone hole would keep growing (it’s shrunk.)

Now HERE’S a novel way to ID the dead before you throw them in the ground.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:

1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
