Show Me

As a citizen of the “Show-Me State”, I urge everyone who also lives in the Great State of Missouri to pay heed to Senator Talent’s message below. He’s a good man who doesn’t raise hell and rant like me so I’ll do it for him.

Claire McCaskill and the Democratic National Committee and their surrogates in the Angry Left have done everything in their power to smear Senator Talent. Outrageous lies have been told, expensive media blitz campaigns have been covering the airwaves with all manner of disgusting claims and accusations. They even drafted “Bubba” Clinton to come campaign for McCaskill.

Claire McCaskill is not the person we want in Washington representing us. Jim Talent is. He has done a great job for Missouri over the last four years and deserves our continued support. Get out and vote tomorrow and send Jim Talent back to Washington. We need all the help we can get. The Democrats will be in downtown St. Louis shuttling people from polling place to place to vote 2 or 3 or 4 times. They will have dead people and family pets casting votes for McCaskill. Only you can stop this evil plan of theirs.

So get off your butt, Missouri! Take time off from work. Call the babysitter. Do whatever you have to do. It only takes a few minutes to cast your vote. This country is counting on us to do our part to keep the lunatic Democrats out of office. Remember, if you don’t vote and the Democrats win, you only have yourself to blame when they raise our taxes, cut and run from Iraq, make us pay for human cloning experiments and run the country into the ground. I challenge all of you: SHOW ME YOU CARE ABOUT AMERICA!

GO VOTE!

Your vote is a sacred trust that I take very seriously in my role as a Senator. That is why I’m writing to you today to ask you personally for your vote. Elections are about the future and tomorrow’s election is in your hands. In less than 24 hours Missouri voters will head to the polls, where we will have the opportunity to decide the direction we want Missouri to go over the next six years.

That’s why it’s so important that you vote tomorrow - and in addition, why it’s critical that you remind your friends and family about this important election. Please let them know that I am asking for their vote and that I would be honored to serve another six years to make Missouri and our country better.

Before they vote, ask them these simple questions. First, do they want higher taxes and bigger government, or do they want lower taxes and a government that empowers people? Second, do they want representatives who believe in the values of Washington, D.C. or someone who will stand up for the common sense, conservative values of Missouri?

Let them know that if they want lower taxes, a government that empowers people and a Senator who will continue to stand up for the common sense, conservative values of Missouri, then I need their vote tomorrow. We can make permanent the tax relief that is driving economic growth and creating jobs in Missouri. We can lower health insurance costs for small business men and women and their employees.

We can protect the security of our country by making certain that our service men and women have the tools they need to win the War on Terror. We can control the border and protect our people from terrorism, drugs and illegal immigration. We can empower our farmers and ranchers so they can continue providing America with the safest, most abundant and most affordable food supply in the world.

We can protect the American flag from public desecration and the Pledge of Allegiance from judges who want to remove the words “under God.” We can protect traditional marriage. We can protect our Second Amendment rights. And we can protect the value and dignity of human life at all stages.

The opportunity to serve Missouri in the U.S. Senate - to fight there for the traditions and values of the heartland - has been the greatest professional honor of my life. I am more grateful than you will ever know for giving me that chance, for your faith in me.

Working together we have made this a great campaign about important issues facing our state and our nation. But now we must remind everyone across Missouri why it’s so important that they cast their ballots tomorrow. My friends, I would be honored to continue standing up for the common sense, conservative values of Missouri as your United States Senator. That is why I’m asking for your vote tomorrow.

With sincere thanks,

Senator Jim Talent

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
