One Born Every Second

According to Technorati, there is a new blog born every second. At last count, there were somewhere in the neighborhood of 14.2 million “weblogs” in existence. How in the hell do all those people find something interesting to write about? Don’t answer that. Every morning when I get up, it seems crap just falls out of heaven into my typing lap for ridicule here. Fortunately for me, there seems to be an idiotarian born every second and they’re all just begging for my attention. I am glad to comply as it gives me something to laugh about and improves my writing skills at the same time. I have written more in the last year and a half than I have written in the entire 54 years of my life before that. I’m certainly glad all you good folks enjoy coming here and piling on in the comments. When it comes to bashing Moonbats, there’s never too many for a good scrum.

The blogosphere is continuing to grow, with a weblog created every second, according to blog trackers Technorati. In its latest State of the Blogosphere report, it said the number of blogs it was tracking now stood at more than 14.2m blogs, up from 7.8m in March. It suggests, on average, the number of blogs is doubling every five months. Blogs, the homepages of the 21st Century, are free and easy to set up and use. They are popular with people who want to share thoughts online. They allow for the instant publication of ideas and for interactive conversations, through comments, with friends or strangers.

Interestingly, in the article, Technorati says, “Thirteen percent of all blogs that Technorati tracks are updated weekly or more, said the report, and 55% of all new bloggers are still posting three months after they started.”

SLACKERS! Try keeping it going for eighteen months without missing a day, changing jobs three times and moving across three different states during that period, fighting off trolls left and right and having the occasional fight with friends. For the record, this is the 2665th post by me and nearly 1800 comments I have penned. That works out to about five posts and three comments per day, non-stop, rain-or-shine, day-in-day-out, ad infinitum ....

IT’S MY JOB TO BRING YOU THE CLOWNS!

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
We’re so glad you could attend
Come inside! Come inside!
There behind a glass is a real blade of grass
be careful as you pass.
Move along! Move along!

Come inside, the show’s about to start
guaranteed to blow your head apart
Rest assured you’ll get your money’s worth
The greatest show in Heaven, Hell or Earth.
You’ve got to see the show, it’s a dynamo.
You’ve got to see the show, it’s rock and roll ....

Soon the Gypsy Queen in a glaze of Vaseline
Will perform on guillotine
What a scene! What a scene!
Next upon the stand will you please extend a hand
to Alexander’s Ragtime Band
Roll up! Roll up! Roll up!
See the show!

Performing on a stool we’ve a sight to make you drool
Seven virgins and a mule
Keep it cool. Keep it cool.
We would like it to be known the exhibits that were shown
were exclusively our own,
All our own. All our own.
Come and see the show! Come and see the show! Come and see the show!
See the show!

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
