Obituary

This is the offical “Anna Nicole Farewell Post”. Pay your parting respects in the comments if you please. Yes, we ogled her in the pages of Playboy, laughed at her marrying that old geezer who was 60 years older than her, followed the vicious war between her and the old man’s son as they fought over the millions he left behind all the way to the Supreme Court.

We watched in shock as she ballooned out to 300 pounds, wondered how she did it when she lost all that weight practically overnight and in recent years wondered how long she would last as her parties got wilder, her son died of a drug overdose and her own behavior spoke of probable problems with alcohol, drugs or both.

Now it’s over. Our morbid fascination with another sexy blonde is done. Where will the next one come from? Somehow I just don’t feel Paris Hilton can ever fill Anna Nicole’s bra shoes. RIP.

Anna Nicole Smith Dies in Florida at 39
_{HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - February 8, 2007}

Anna Nicole Smith, the curvaceous blonde whose life played out as an extraordinary tabloid tale - Playboy centerfold, jeans model, bride of an octogenarian oil tycoon, reality-show subject, tragic mother - died Thursday after collapsing at a hotel. She was 39.

She was stricken while staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and was rushed to a hospital. Edwina Johnson, chief investigator for the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office, said the cause of death was under investigation and an autopsy would be done on Friday. Just five months ago, Smith’s 20-year-old son, Daniel, died suddenly in the Bahamas in what was believed to be a drug-related death.

Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said a private nurse called 911 after finding Smith unresponsive in her sixth-floor room at the hotel, which is on an Indian reservation. He said Smith’s bodyguard administered CPR, but she was declared dead at a hospital. Later Thursday, two sheriff’s deputies carried out at least eight brown paper bags sealed with red evidence tape from Smith’s hotel room.

Dr. Joshua Perper, the chief Broward County medical examiner who will perform the autopsy, said if her death was from natural causes, the findings would likely be announced quickly. He cautioned, however, that definitive results could take weeks. “I am not a prophet, and I cannot tell you before the autopsy what I am going to find,” he said.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:

2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:

It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
