Music for the mesmerized masses

CNN just slightly behind the times

but still on track with the approved agenda

imageI caught a bit of whatever CNN calls its morning show today. They were running a little puff piece on the Obamessiah, about all the songs performers the world over have written in support of him, and isn’t that just awesome?? So many from so many different places; here’s just two examples from the Caribbean; look how Obama is connecting with people from all over ... blah blah blah gak. I wasn’t fully conscious at the time but I’m pretty sure they managed to puff the segment out to cover at least 5 solid minutes. So much ado about nothing.

Now, when I first get up and I’m starting to inject that first cup of coffee, I don’t want hard news fired at me. Give me a couple minutes to come to life. Let me just sit there and watch Robin Meade smile and move and blink those big brown eyes and shake all that hair ... let that all just seep down to my brain stem, so that my first actual thought of the day is “how the hell does she cram those happy sweater puppies into that blouse?” That’s not a bad way to wake up at all. So a little background music fit into that really well.

Somewhere around the second cup the words started to soak through. Some of the lyrics from the first tune, done by reggae singer Cocoa Tea:

Well this is not about class
nor color race nor creed
Make no mistake its the changes
what all the people done need

Let’s shout out -
Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. whoa yeah
(they say) Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. whoa yeah
...

African Americans rise
and keep your eyes on the prize
cuz now all the Party Men realize
the black man is in their eyes

Well its not a joke its a fact
we’ll be painting the white house black
and I can believe it too
black folks we run the red white and blue

Give him a shout out-
Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. whoa yeah
(they say) Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. Barack. Obama. whoa yeah

Wow. A chant for the masses. No, it’s got nothing to do with race at all. Which is why the entire song is about being black. Huh? But it’s a catchy tune. Pretty good.
Now for those of you who have your brains in gear a bit more, the second one, performed by The Mighty Sparrow, who is the calypso star, is amazingly explicit:

Barack! Barack!
He’s fighting for openness and honest government!
Barack!
He’s doggedly defiant,
Phenomenal strength and wisdom beyond comment!

After you put we in a quagmire!
Not this time!
We come out to vote!

What’s at stake?
Clean up Washington overall!
In the wake
Of the Jack Abramoff scandal.
The middle class done elect a man,
It’s without representation,
This régime has too much corruption!
He wants to see,
A whole energy policy,
Inclusively,
Extent? Comprehensively:
Renewable fuels to clean coal,
There’ll be no price gouging at all,
These things are Barack Obama’s goal.

Entrenched in the crooked régime, we must all, take note,
They’ll be kicking and screaming at me, so we all must vote!
By not exercising these rights,
It’s refusing to see the light,
Democrats! Rise up! Stand up and fight!

Barack! Barack!
On the Senate Affair Committee he’s a giant!
Barack!
Dignifiedly resilient,
And with rock star status he’s Barack The Magnificent!

Wow, that’s a whole brain full of points in just six and a half minutes. I will give The Mighty Sparrow major props - this is some really deep stuff, wrapped up in a happy little tune. Amazing.

Little Barry is running an amazing campaign. He has the media so deeply in his pocket that all they need to do is turn their heads a little to see if Jesse Jackson has cut his nuts off yet. I think John McCain has a polka tune out. Probably on a 78rpm record, and performed by the Wheezing Wobblers down at the Senior Center. Send in a few box tops and his campaign will mail you a copy, 4th class postage. I hear is quite the swinging tune.

And here is an interesting thing: these Obama tunes have been around for months and months. Sparrow’s tune was cut almost an entire year ago, and Tea’s piece came out no later than early March. I wonder why CNN waited so long to run the news? It almost makes me wonder if they have a huge pile of stories all lined up and choreographed, set to be aired at specific times ... ah, that sounds too much like a conspiracy theory. Which would imply they’re turning themselves inside out to support this commie. Couldn’t happen. Not in America.

Obama ‘08: America needs the RIGHT guy, not the White guy

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
