Lies, Kerry, The Media and Bias
I knew it would come down to this sooner or later. We now have a bunch of vets accusing one another of lying.But, hey! They are not gods. They are human and humans engage in this sort of behavior. It's up to us to either believe them when they discredit others or not. We may believe what both are saying in their discrediting of one another, too. It'll then boil down to either party line affiliation or voting for the side that lied less.
Here are a couple of examples.
A few days ago Tom Harkin (Dummycrap from Iowa) launched a verbal tirade against VP Cheney saying Cheney had no right to criticize The Poodle's war policies because Cheney got deferments which kept him from military service. He went so far as to call Cheney a coward.
OK, that's to be expected.
But then we find out Harkin, in an interview while he was a Congressman, claimed to have served in Vietnam ONE YEAR flying F-8s and F-4s doing recon and combat air patrol missions.
Well, someone did a little digging. Mr. Harkin was NEVER in Vietnam because his only decoration was the National Defense Service Medal (given to ALL personnel who serve.) If he'd been stationed in Vietnam he'd have gotten a Vietnam Service Medal or Campaign ribbon. Seems all Harkin did was serve in Japan.
Will we hear in the news about how the pot (Harkin) is calling the kettle (Cheney) black? Don't count on it. Yet you will get TONS of replays of Harkin calling Cheney a coward, though!
Now let's turn the tables a bit.
One of the vets who accused Kerry of lying by saying his boat never came under fire seems to be lying himself. Larry Thurlow accused The Poodle and his boat of never having come under fire (actions for which The Poodle got a Bronze Star--as did Thurlow.) A review of Thurlow's military records shows that his citation for the Bronze Star indicating ALL boats in that vicinity (to include The Poodle's) had come under fire.
So there you have it.
Lies and counter lies.
But watch to see how the press will latch on to this report and attempt to discredit all anti-Kerry vets with the broad brush of lies and deceptions.
Funny how they never did so with Michael Moore and his movies, eh? I guess lies made by the favored media elite party can be forgiven. Those made by the other party will forever be paraded out as signs of their duplicitousness, lack of credibility, outright dishonesty, blah, blah, blah.
Meanwhile, I can't help but remember the brouhaha created by the media DEMANDING President Bush release his records. Day after day after day we'd read about all sorts of efforts by the media to discredit the President's service. Where is the media in DEMANDING John Kerry release all HIS military records?
(ZZZZZZZZZ..............SNORE............ SNORT..............Cough..................ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ)
One last thing.
