Countdown

We’ve started a new countdown (see left top sidebar). One week to go to the BIG CELEBRATION. This blog will be one year old and will take off the diapers and remove the training wheels next Wednesday (January 12th) at 6:00pm (the date of our first post was January 12, 2004 6:21pm).

I’m saving “The Heavenly Poker Game, Act III” until then and there will be a few more surprises (I can’t tell ‘cause I’m under a gag order from the 9th Circuit Court). We will have several species of guests and maybe even an on-line cocktail party (on-line chat room) for the occasion. Come as you are. BYOB (Bring Your Own Boobies). Come join “The Annoying Dwarfish Nuisance”, the “Pigmaster”, the “Steel Turnip”, “MAJ Mick”, “Pepe Ze Woof”, the “Macker Truck” and the whole gang .... including El Supremo and yours truly (BMEWS SecWar - I’ll be the dashingly good-looking, handsome, debonair sophisticate maneuvering around the room and accepting praise and worship from everyone).

Be there or be without hair! Or be bear .... or aware. But if bare, then share.

Update I: The On-Line Chat Room (i.e., the Grand Ballroom of BMEWS) is all setup and ready to go - the party streamers are hung, the band is rehearsing, the punch is fermenting .. Countdown: T-minus 7 days and counting ....

Update II: El Supremo has declared that we will have a Photoshop Contest to celebrate the event. Stay tuned. The announcement will come tomorrow. Get your paint-drawing-kludge software ready. Prizes this time! Real prizes!

(NOTE: This post was allegedly sanity-checked prior to remission.  Any alleged errors should be framed on the faulty tin-foil hat I’m wearing and the cosmic rays.  Gramma’s errors are indentional. Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:

1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
