At least 29 students and a teacher have been killed after Islamic extremists attacked on a boarding school in northeast Nigeria.
Survivors, who are being treated for burns and gunshots wounds, say some students were burned alive in the pre-dawn attack today on the Government Secondary School in Mamudo town in Yobe state.

Farmer Malam Abdullahi wept over the bodies of his two sons, aged ten and 12.
‘That’s it, I’m taking my other boys out of school,’ he told The Associated Press. He said he had three younger children in a nearby school.

A teenager has been killed in Egypt after an Islamist mob threw him off a ledge on top of a roof and beat him as he lay dying, local media reports.
The young man, identified as Hamada Badr, 19, and his three friends were caught on camera hiding from a large group who had chased them onto a terrace in Alexandria.
The video, apparently filmed with a mobile phone camera from across the road, show the four teenagers escaping onto a 20ft ledge during violent protests on Friday.

Jihadists are terrorizing Syrians and persecuting Christians.

Syrian terrorists have beheaded a Catholic priest who they accused of collaborating with the Assad regime. Those accusations have not yet been verified. Father Francois was summarily executed and the Vatican has confirmed the martyrdom.

VATICAN CITY (Catholic Online) - The Vatican is confirming the death by beheading of Franciscan Father, Francois Murad, who was martyred by Syrian jihadists on June 23.

Below is the news release from the Vatican, via news.va.

On Sunday, June 23 the Syrian priest François Murad was killed in Gassanieh, in northern Syria, in the convent of the Custody of the Holy Land where he had taken refuge. This is confirmed by a statement of the Custos of the Holy Land sent to Fides Agency. The circumstances of the death are not fully understood. According to local sources, the monastery where Fr. Murad was staying was attacked by militants linked to the jihadi group Jabhat al-Nusra.

Father François, 49, had taken the first steps in the religious life with the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land, and with them he continued to share close bonds of spiritual friendship. After being ordained a priest he had started the construction of a coenobitic monastery dedicated to St. Simon Stylites in the village of Gassanieh.After the start of the Civil War, the monastery of St. Simon had been bombed and Fr. Murad had moved to the convent of the Custody for safety reasons and to give support to the remaining few, along with another religious and nuns of the Rosary.

This should make it clear to Christians around the world what jihadists are about. Make no mistake. Catholics and Christians around the globe are under dire threat, particularly from the spread of militant Islam. Until the threat is recognized and taken seriously, martyrdoms like this will continue.

Catholic Online believes it is very important the world knows that Christians are being murdered for their faith, and that martyrdom isn’t an ancient phenomenon.

I don’t have the words and just don’t know what to say that has not been said already.  These aren’t people. They are vermin in human form. You might have said it better. 
The Brits by which I mean their govt. not the population they are supposed to represent, are all hot for arming the good rebels against that nasty Assad fellow.
If you ask them just who are the good guys here, they have no answer that I’ve heard.  The PM here has been hot to trot for awhile, never mind that the country is hurting in many ways and most folks are damn sorry their troops ever went there and see no good in it. And now Obama appears to be falling into line somewhat, in that I understand him to now being agreeable to sticking the American nose into Syria by way of help of some kind to the rebels.

German police foil terror plot.

I am not even a little bit surprised.  If anything surprises me it’s that the scum had not planned it years ago using this method.  I always thought it could be done.

Good for the cops catching these bastards but catching this one group is not enough.

The country should be cleansed of this vermin because sooner or later, these peace loving members of the ROP will succeed.  I hope not of course but I’m thinking law of averages.

Europe should make itself muslim free by any means necessary.  Of course we know they won’t, so kiss the Fatherland and the rest of Europe goodbye.

It is not that Europe doesn’t recognize the threat. The problem is that Europe will NOT do what is necessary because the methods would look like the 1930s.
And appearances count more than national safety and survival I guess.

If only the Nazis had not been so damn stupid and one way and stubborn.  Everything was written in stone for them and could never be changed. There was no reasoning with them.  Only agreeing.  And now the world is paying for their intransigence with multi culture, forced diversity and the dictatorship of political correctness, open borders and the brain washing of generations for the armies of the left.  It appears to me that only Nazi methods will reverse the tide and restore any normalcy to the world.  And that’s a scary thought.

German police foil Islamist terror plot to use remote controlled aircraft filled with explosives as guided missiles

Police in Germany have raided dozens of addresses to foil an Islamist terror plot intending to use remote controlled model aircraft filled with explosives to be flown into targets.

Armed officers of the specialist G9G units raided homes in Stuttgart, Munich and Dachau after receiving information that at least one assassination attempt was being planned using the model planes as guided missiles.

Technical materials and paperwork were seized at several addresses while prosecutors spoke of plans for a ‘seditious outrage’.

German intelligence officers have been warning for some time of a home-grown attack inside the country’s borders as more and more Islamists return from Jihadist training camps in Pakistan ready to commit terrorist acts.

As well as the addresses in southern Germany, an Internet service provider in the state of Saxony was also raided. At least two men are in custody and authorities say the operations will continue as more intelligence is gathered.

No information was given about likely targets or exactly which Jihadist organisation the suspects are affiliated with.

One of the addresses raided was at the Olympic Village in Munich, scene of the 1972 Olympic massacre when fanatics of the Black September movement stormed the living quarters of Israeli athletes. All eleven hostages later died in a shootout at Munich Airport.

Prosecutors said that the arrests were linked to a plot centred on Islamist ‘Holy war’ but gave no further details.

German media reported that some model aircraft, which are powerful and big enough to carry explosives capable of destroying a commerical building, were seized in the raids early this morning.

The paperwork taken from several of the suspect addresses also relates to money laundering necessary to fund the planned outrages, according to media reports. The suspects are of Tunisian descent.

Germany’s Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which deals with internal terror threats, said only recently in its annual report that the country remains a ‘top target’ for Islamist fanatics for its support for NATO operations in Afghanistan.

This is the first I have heard of this fellow or his group.  Hate to say it but I think the cards are stacked against his success although I wish him much.

He might be the first one I’ve heard who has reminded people that, This Is A Small Country!

I greatly fear that if he wants to save this place, then he’s going to have to take over the schools and re-educate millions and toss out the left wing teachers who still think Marx and Trotsky are the answer.  And believe you me, there are a few here who do.  And they teach.

The Daily dim Mail insists on calling a clear murder committed in front of witnesses an “execution”.  And these are supposed to be professionals. Execution my ass. It was murder plain and simple.

Oh yeah, one of the butchering bastards has been in court, and has insisted he be called by another name. Did the court tell him to drop dead? Of course not and so even the press is now calling the verminous slime ball Abu Hamza at his demand. Not request people. Demand. That’s not all folks.

When told it was customary to stand when called in court he replied, “In that case I’ll sit.” And so he did. What sort of picture does that paint I ask you. I’ve no doubt they will both be jailed for a long time. Oh, perhaps a few years? Then some shrink will claim they are fit and safe. I really don’t know that. I’m just frustrated and blowing off steam.

I don’t understand the justice (?) systems at work in this country or mine. I don’t understand why we haven’t been able to take it away from the left who stole it. Here’s a case of a couple of rank bastards who in full view of the public in broad daylight, butchered a young man on a London street. That being the case, why bother with courts and lawyers? Why can’t they be immediately hung, cut down and hung again?  Why were they sent to a hospital for the gunshot wounds they sustained confronting the cops?  The black bastard in court was blowing kisses to his brother in the gallery, and kissing his Koran.  Why let him even have that much? He wouldn’t be acting that way if he knew for certain he’d be beaten up and severely so. For every infraction a fingernail pulled or a tooth. It wouldn’t take a lot to get the message across. But no. He has to be given his ‘rights’ and he mustn’t be offended. Jeesh.  Why should he have any rights?  None of which of course has to do with this post for another outrage that is related to the crime.  Some muzzie scum are saying the murder never happened, it was all staged. Read on folks.  This is today’s reality.  Do any of you see it getting any better anytime soon?  I for one do not.

An Islamic Society at one of Britain’s largest universities has promoted a video claiming the execution murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich was a hoax cooked up by the state, it was revealed today.

Hours after the death of the soldier, 25, a Muslim student group at London Metropolitan University (LMU) circulated a YouTube film arguing the crime was manufactured using ‘fake blood’.
The six minute video called ‘Woolwich false flag b*******. Masses are in a state-sponsored trance’, has been viewed by 300,000 people, and says that Scotland Yard detectives investigating the murder were Freemasons who were in on an anti-Muslim conspiracy.

The film even claims that traumatised witnesses were in on a hoax, taunting those who tried to comfort Drummer Rigby as he lay dying by saying: ‘These women look very traumatised lol (laugh out loud).’

London Metropolitan University has previously admitted it would consider ending the sale of alcohol on campus in case it offended Muslim students.

Last year border officials also stripped the institution of its right to sponsor non-EU students, leaving thousands at risk of deportation, amid fears many were on courses there just to get a British visa.
Members of its LMU Islamic Society, who also posted the video on its Facebook page, have previously called non-Muslims ‘evil’ and heaped praise on the Taliban.

The video shows news coverage on the day of Lee Rigby’s death, including his alleged killers covered in blood and holding weapons.
Over the pictures are subtitles, arguing his death was a conspiracy, including one asking: ‘Where is the blood on his hands that is seen on most of the other videos?’.

As a reporter describes the scene in Woolwich the film says: ‘Now add some fake blood and a fake media whore (reporter) talking s***, stating the obvious just in case you don’t get it and we got the made up news lol.’
It later says: ‘I need proof and not fabricated ‘bs’ (b*******).’
It then cuts to a police officer telling the public to ‘move back’.
The subtitles then say: ‘Yes listen to the masonic copper, move back before you film anything incriminating against their false flag charade.’

‘That a video like this was shared by students the day after a soldier was killed like that on London’s streets is deeply concerning, and highlights the ease with which social media allows material like this to be accessed,’ Rupert Sutton, of anti-extremism think-tank Student Rights, told the Evening Standard.
‘We’ve seen in the past how students can be led towards violence by online material, and for this reason university authorities should be increasingly aware of this kind of activity.’

The University today tried to distance itself from the video.
‘The University is committed to ensuring all its students are free to study in a safe and secure environment,’ a spokesman said.
‘The views expressed by individual students or student societies, including on social media, do not represent those of the University.’

The LMU Islamic Society has so far refused to comment.

I didn’t expect anything like this, and I hope the EDL or no other rightist group was responsible just to inflame against the vermin of the rop.  That would be stupid in the extreme and do more to hurt our side. Cos anything the muzzies may do would of course be blamed on the far right.

Meanwhile in police raids at least 6 people have been brought in for questioning or arrest, two were tasered, this in relation to the murder of that Brit soldier last week. It’s being reported that the attack was not a one off lone wolf thing, and there may be a network of the scum involved.

There has been a march by the EDL, which of course was met by a group from the left calling themselves Unite Against Fascism. The way it works is, everyone who is not in total agreement with them is a fascist and so they can pretty much demonstrate and if they want to, even turn violent because their cause is anti fascism.  That make them legit.

The pressure to denounce appalling acts is itself a form of prejudice.

Two of Britain’s most celebrated war memorials have been defaced, apparently with the word ‘Islam’ scrawled across them and inscriptions scrubbed out with red paint.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the vandalism of the RAF Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park and the Animals In War Memorial in Park Lane, both in central London.

Pictures taken today show that the damage has now been covered over with plastic or white sheets.

Scotland Yard said there have not been any arrests, so it not clear if it has been done by Muslim protesters or far-right groups attempting to stir-up hatred.

The Animals in War Memorial is ‘a powerful and moving tribute to all the animals that served, suffered and died alongside the British, Commonwealth and Allied forces in the wars and conflicts of the 20th century’, according to the Animals in War Fund website.

The monument was unveiled by the Princess Royal in November 2004 - the 90th anniversary of the start of World War I.

The fund’s website says the £2 million needed to build the monument came from ‘a national appeal and the generosity of many individual donors, charities and companies’.

A uniformed French soldier on anti-terrorist duties in Paris had his throat cut by a knife-wielding man tonight.

The savage attack follows the murder of a British soldier by two men using weapons including knives and a meat cleaver. One of the suspects said they were acting in the name of Islam.

Today there were fears that the Paris attack was a copy-cat crime and that a radical Muslim might once more be responsible.

Police in the French capital described the attacker as a being ‘bearded, of North African origin and wearing a light coloured jihab’ under a jacket.

He pounced on the 23-year-old soldier outside a Virgin store in La Defence, the business district of the city which was packed with Saturday afternoon shoppers.

The attack on a soldier in Paris was being treated as a ‘terrorist incident’, said a source at the Paris prosecutors office.

‘The anti-terrorist branch of the prosecutors office is dealing with the matter,’ the source added.

The soldier was knifed as a he patrolled around the suburban railway station for RER A service which links the French capital with the suburbs.

Pierre-Andre Peyvel, prefect of the Hauts-de-Seine district, said the soldier’s wounds were ‘serious enough’.

The soldier is currently at the nearby Percy hospital.

‘Thousands of people were in the area at the time of the attack,’ said Mr Peyvel. ‘It would have been quite easy to blend into the crowd and then disappear.’

‘The attack happened just after 6pm,’ said a police source. ‘The soldier was stabbed repeatedly, most notably in the throat.

‘The attacker ran away and the military are still looking for him, supported by the police. He is around 30 years old and of Arab appearance.

‘The wounded soldier was taken to a local railway station for treatment and then on to hospital.’

The source said that the soldier’s life was not in danger, but he was ‘badly hurt’.

And here is what the French President had to say.  Nobody here at BMEWS will take surprise at the comment. He is after all, an avowed lefty and this is how they think.

what the morning papers are saying, and it ain’t good.

We’ve been SO obsessed with showing how tolerant we are ,the “clever” people in charge over the last 30 years or so , have totally let down the population of our country,giving not a soul the option or ,indeed ,having the plain decency to ask them if this is what they wanted for the country they grew up in . They’ve actually made it virtually impossible to raise the issue,as to do so is considered racist and the questioner becomes the questioned. How can this be right?

We no longer have a justice system because our laws need changing. Those in power right now will not listen. It turns out according to the morning papers, that the two vermin referred to as “suspects” altho I can not think why that word should apply, have been on the terrorist radar screen of the security services for years.

I would agree that it’s near impossible to keep watch on all 24/7 as there just are not enough agents or the money. Although money in these cases should not even be a part of the equation.  You find the money.  If needs be, take it away from orphans and widows.  (ok not really but)

To make things worse from my POV which I believe to be correct unless you can show me otherwise; I think the media do not help when they trumpet the flaws and dumb mistakes that would be terror “suspects” make, thus giving the bastards lesson 101 in how to improve your killing methods.

Since this event, some radical hate preachers have been given time to air their views.  On the BBC?  Apparently so.

Baroness Warsi spoke out amid a growing furore at Westminster about the amount of coverage given to Anjem Choudary and other militant Islamists on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 News.

MI5 had been monitoring the two fanatics responsible for the slaughter of a young soldier near Woolwich barracks for eight years.

The Security Service is facing an inquiry by MPs amid a raft of devastating revelations about the killers’ known links to Islamist extremism.

One of the pair – Michael Adebolajo – was so high profile he was photographed outside Paddington Green police station six years ago behind notorious hate preacher Anjem Choudary.

He was even intercepted by officials as he attempted to travel to Somalia to fight alongside Islamist terrorists last year.

It also emerged that Adebolajo was a violent ex-prisoner who was a member of a banned terrorist group.

Incredibly, he was said to have been preaching jihad on the streets of Woolwich earlier this week, only a few hundred yards from where 25-year-old Army Drummer Lee Rigby – a married father – was beheaded.

As MI5 faced accusations that they let the men slip through the net, David Cameron ordered a full intelligence review by a Westminster committee.
On a dramatic day:
· Sources confirmed that 28-year-old Adebolajo once served a jail sentence for violence;

· Tory minister Baroness Warsi attacked broadcasters who give airtime to ‘extremist voices – idiots and nutters’ after Choudary gave interviews on BBC TV and Channel 4 News;

On their wedding day six years ago.  He had served as a machine gunner, saw combat in Afghanistan and comes home to a country where due to ‘human rights’ even known terrorists can not be deported.  An EU thing and the UK can’t say, stick it where the sun don’t shine. But only a very small chance.

I read LyndonB’s comment on a Drew post from yesterday.  The UK isn’t alone in the doom room.  Unless the people rise up, and THEY WILL NOT, all of Europe save possibly the Russians, are also doomed. And even they have libtards and a birth problem while islam Marches On.

UPDATE on the Muslim savages rioting in Sweden

In the area of Husby in Stockholm Sweden, About 200 armed Muslims carried out a well-planned riot that burned hundreds of cars and buildings. The main group behind the riots, Megafonen, received City funding as a ‘youth activist group.’ Turns out the “youths” consisted of revolutionary Muslim activists whose goal was to destroy the area they live in (no doubt living on government welfare benefits).

Over 80 % of the residents are non-european immigrants, legal and illegal, mainly Arab and African Muslims. First the Muslim demand that the state build them mosques, then they demand loudspeakers to broadcast the Muslim Call to Prayer five times a day. Next they demand money, free housing and welfare money for their clans, vacation pay and cars. Next they begin to demand money and offices for their groups and community organizations.

In this case, one of the groups, Megafon organized the riots, and the leader stirred up violence against the police before she shut down her Twitter account to hide her tracks. A screen shot was saved and can be seen in the film. Rioting in the 200 burning hell hole cities called ghettos are common in Sweden.

Large masses of rioting Muslims roam in packs, set fires to trick police and fire to arrive, them they pelt the emergency vehicles with rocks, IED’s, fireworks or use guns.

Heard on the radio this morning.  With regard to the killing of a soldier here in the UK yesterday, some interviews with residents in the area explain that near by is an immigration ghetto, mostly infested with life forms from Somalia. Italics mine.  Anyway, residents say that the folks who are native born here, feel like they have fewer rights then the Somali immigrants

Rami al-Khamisi, a law student and founder of the youth organisation Megafonen, told the Swedish edition of online newspaper The Local that he had been insulted racially by police. Teenagers, he said, had been called “monkeys”.  Most are from Turkey, the Middle East and Somalia.

Man dead in suspected Woolwich terror attack

A man has died and two are injured after police responded to a reported machete attack in south-east London.

The government is reported to be treating the assault as a suspected terrorist incident and the prime minister said it was “truly shocking”.

Eyewitnesses said a man was brutally attacked in a Woolwich street by two men who were later shot by officers.

Local MP Nick Raynsford said the dead man was a soldier at Woolwich barracks but this has not been confirmed.

Home Secretary Theresa May has summoned a meeting of the government’s emergency response committee Cobra to assess the incident.

Mrs May said she had been briefed by the director general of Security Service MI5, Andrew Parker, and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe on the “sickening and barbaric” attack.

“It has been confirmed to me that a man has been brutally murdered,” she said. “Two other men were shot by armed police and they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.”

Whitehall sources have told the BBC it is “a fair supposition” that the incident was a terrorist incident but police have not commented publicly on the suggestion.

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said the police view is that the attack may have been filmed and footage may exist.

According to senior Whitehall sources the people carrying out the attack were heard to say Allahu Akbar [God is Great], said our political editor.

On Twitter, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson described the attack as a “sickening deluded and unforgivable act of violence”.

London Ambulance Service confirmed one man had been found dead at the scene.

It said two men had been taken to hospital, one in a serious condition.

One of the men was airlifted from the scene, and another was taken away by road ambulance

A greeting card company hoping for a laugh used a doll meant for Muslim girls as the basis for a birthday card that depicts a headscarf-wearing little girl as a terrorist.

In a pink hijab, or headscarf, and flowered dress, a doll is depicted on the card saying things like ‘Pull string for message IF YOU DARE!’ and ‘She’ll love you to death!’ insinuating that the innocent-looking Muslim is a suicide bomber.

The card appears to be based on a real doll meant for actual Muslim girls.

The Aamina Muslim Doll, which speaks phrases in Arabic, is the brainchild of a mother who couldn’t find dolls that resembled her daughter.

‘It all started when my daughter was 2 ½ years old,’ writes founder Farzana Rahman on her company website.

‘I was trying to find toys that would help her to speak her mother tongue, Urdu. Failing to find anything, I embarked upon designing a talking Urdu doll myself.’

The doll, which has a male counterpart in the Yousuf doll, was the first of many products created by Rahman to celebrate Muslim and Arab culture with toys.

Aamina wears a pink hijab and a dress with flowers, just like the girl on the card.

That message has now been made into a joke by greeting card company NobleWorks Inc., a joke a Chicago-area Muslim rights group says plays upon hateful stereotypes.

The card was first released in 2011, but was only recently noticed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in a Chicago novelty store.

‘Islamophobic generalizations and negative stereotypes often hit those who are most visibly perceived as Muslim,’ wrote Ahmed Rehab CAIR’s Chicago Monitor, ‘and women wearing the Hijab are often the group hit the hardest.

‘Many Muslim women around the world, certainly in the US, choose to wear the Hijab as a free-willed expression of modesty and self-respect. For them, it is a message that men should address their minds and not their bodies.’

I wonder what the outcome if some refused to wear the clothing of a med-evil religion. Yeah and medieval too.

NobleWorks, whose motto is ‘Dare to Laugh’ features an extensive line of politically-themed humor cards on its website.

‘I can only imagine folks and friends,’ writes Kanfi, ‘who receive or read our cards, can help but wonder as to whether laughing is the appropriate thing to do. But as our motto goes: “F**k ‘em if they can’t take a joke!"’

But as is usual these days, the bearded muzzies (and even their men) win another round.

CAIR responded in kind:

‘The notion that a doll, that looks like any other doll that any little girl in the world would play with, can be presented as a terrorist doll simply and only because it is a “Muslim” doll or because it has a “Muslim scarf” on its head is not what defines “funny” for a lot of people, but bigoted, ugly, idiotic, moronic, etc.’

The Muslim group said it has written an official letter to NobleWorks sharing its concern over the card they say exposes little girls ‘to messaging that criminalizes their basic identity for profit.’

The card appears to have been removed from the NobleWorks website.

Very often these vermin look so much alike I can not tell one from another. Well, hardly tell.  They all do have one look in common.

Spot the error? Well done, and you mooohambone. DId you notice the mistake made? You didn’t?  Well here. See page four of the local paper and do better next time.  Thank allah and the MSM for pointing this out.

This terrifying collection of shotguns, knives and samurai swords was discovered in the boot of a car carrying six British jihadists who plotted to kill and maim hundreds of people.

A nail bomb packed with 458 pieces of shrapnel and parts for a pipe bomb were also found.

The gang had evaded the security services and their car was only searched after being impounded because the driver did not have insurance.

The terrorists plotted to detonate a bomb at an English Defence League rally, which would have caused hundreds of casualties, including police officers, bystanders and members of the far-Right protest group.

The terrorists now face lengthy jail sentences after admitting the plot – a protest against the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee – at Woolwich Crown Court yesterday.

The court heard that the men drove from Birmingham on June 30 last year to set off the bomb at the rally in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

However, the meeting had finished early and by the time they arrived everyone had dispersed.

On the way back, the gang’s Renault Laguna was stopped by a policeman in a random spot-check on the M1. He impounded the car after discovering it was uninsured.

It later emerged that one of the terrorists had tried to insure it, but entered the wrong registration number on an online form.

The car was taken to a pound near Sheffield where it sat for two days until a worker found the weapons and ten copies of a note addressed to the Queen, David Cameron and ‘the enemies of Islam’.

A series of coincidences saw the plan by Islamic fanatics to use bombs, guns and swords in a murderous attack on far-right extremists foiled.

lego offends islam, lego backs down.  well of course they do. it’s the accepted thing to do.

I had not thought to be here this late. It’s a rushed day for me and I haven’t the time to copy and upload a lot of photos. Just one here.
Therefore, go to the link and take a look for yourselves.  Maybe I missed something again due to lack of proper attention paid to the photographs.

Seems these folks really have to dig pretty deep to find things that “offend” islam.  Hell, I would think it was self offending but that’s me. 
I suppose one might have to be .... one of them to find anything to get upset about.  I also wonder just how honestly upset they are.

THE HAGIA SOPHIA MOSQUE: CENTURIES OF HISTORY AND UPHEAVAL

The Hagia Sophia was first built around 360AD in the Byzantium capital Constantinople, later Istanbul.

It served as an Eastern Orthodox Cathedral and was the world’s largest for nearly a thousand years, until Seville Cathedral was completed in 1520.

In 1453, Constantinople was conquered by the Ottoman Turks under Sultan Mehmed II, who ordered the building converted into a mosque.

Christian symbols such as the bells and altar were removed and many of the mosaics were plastered over. Islamic features, such as the four minarets, were added while it was in the possession of the Ottomans.

It remained a mosque until 1931 when it was closed to the public for four years. It re-opened in 1935 as a museum by the Republic of Turkey.

It is famous for its massive dome and is considered the crowning achievement of Byzantine architecture. Some experts say it ‘changed the history of architecture’.
