snowden shortlisted for european award, for stealing NSA files.

So the traitorous scum is up for a humanitarian award, with compliments of .... the loopy left tree huggers of the green party.

For once I really am ... speechless.

The following is from BBC News Europe.

Edward Snowden shortlisted for EU’s Sakharov prize

Edward Snowden Edward Snowden said he was grateful for the nomination

Edward Snowden, the fugitive American former intelligence worker, has made the shortlist of three for the Sakharov prize, Europe’s top human rights award.

Mr Snowden was nominated by Green politicians in the European Parliament for leaking details of US surveillance.

Nominees also include Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager shot in the head for demanding education for girls.

Former recipients of the prize, awarded by the European Parliament, include Nelson Mandela and Aung San Suu Kyi.

Mr Snowden’s nomination recognised that his disclosure of US surveillance activities was an “enormous service” to human rights and European citizens, the parliament’s Green group said.

Snowden, who has sought asylum in Russia, said in a statement read out in parliament that he was grateful to Europe’s politicians for “taking up the challenge of mass surveillance”.

“The surveillance of whole populations, rather than individuals, threatens to be the greatest human rights challenge of our time,” he said.

The Sakharov prize for freedom of thought is awarded annually in memory of Andrei Sakharov, a Soviet scientist and dissident.

The winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 10 October.

wuss cries over climate and vows to never fly again.

An excellent example of the lemming like mentality of modern Liberals.
By voluntarily eliminating himself, he is making room for much saner people to prosper.
Doc Jeff

Got a heads up on this article. Again, from Doc Jeff and I missed this as I haven’t seen it yet in the hard copy.  Might be an on line version only.
Funny thing about this, the DM (daily mail) has reported a slightly different version of findings, and even on the radio I heard that there is still some questions unanswered even among members of the IPCC.  Whatever. A hundred years from now ppl will be referring to this in the same manner as we do with regard to the Tulip Mania in Holland in the 1600s.  Of course, human nature being what it is, it’s a certainty that there will be something to replace our current climate mania with something just as stupid.

This guy is a total wuss.

What sort of grown man cries over this subject?  Cringe worthy article but the comments following make for pretty good reading.
Clearly, the vast majority of people just do not buy into this. Yet here we are in a world controlled by climate change fanatics.
Take a look.

‘No children, happy to go extinct’, tweets weatherman after grim climate-change report made him cry (now he’s considering a vasectomy)

Eric Holthaus, who used to do weather for Wall Street Journal, was reacting to Friday’s findings from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Scientists found in the report that it was ‘extremely likely’ that humans are causing warming trends
Holthaus said he has decided not to have children in order to leave a lighter carbon footprint, and has considered having a vasectomy
He tweeted on Friday ‘no children, happy to go extinct’
The weatherman also said he is committed to stop flying as ‘it’s not worth the climate’
US Secretary of State, John Kerry, calls the report ‘an alarm bell’
It means scientists have moved from being 90 per cent sure to 95 per cent sure regarding global warming

By Marie-louise Olson

A meteorologist who has covered weather for the Wall Street Journal tweeted that he has decided not to have children in order to leave a lighter carbon footprint, and is considering having a vasectomy.

He also vowed to stop flying after the world’s recent climate-change report made him cry.

Eric Holthaus was reacting to the findings from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which released a report on Friday that found it was ‘extremely likely’ that humans are causing warming trends seen in the last several decades.

On Friday afternoon the weatherman tweeted: ‘No children, happy to go extinct, which in and of itself, carries a certain sadness. #IPCC’

His next tweet said: ‘Its a very emotional decision. Mixed feelings. adios babies?’

According to another tweet from Holthaus, the Dutch artist known as Tinkebell, who calls attention to animal rights issues through works that use the remains of dead animals, had herself sterilised last week for a similar reason.

Holthaus, who now writes for Quartz, has decided he will also reduce his carbon footprint by giving up on air travel.

‘I just broke down in tears in boarding area at SFO while on phone with my wife. I’ve never cried because of a science report before. #IPCC,’ was his first tweet on around 2pm on Friday.

‘I realised just now: This has to be the last flight I ever take. I’m committing right now to stop flying. It’s not worth the climate,’ he tweeted a few minutes later.

It’s worth reading what a lot of folks are saying in reply in comments at the DM.

just another example of how wrong the world has become. not to mention stupid!

Where’s the penalty in this?
Where’s the punishment that makes an impression that might cause this miserable bastard to think 2wice before doing it again?

Why is 12 years of age too young to be named?

This little shit raped a 6 year old girl, then tells cops .... “I don’t care”.
Why can’t he be made to care?  Cutting off his pecker might go a long way to convincing the scum that he does indeed care.

What a gross miscarriage of justice. Oh wait ... he was fined.

It this sort of thing that has me convinced the F****** world is mad.  What the F*** was the judge thinking?  Or, maybe she wasn’t. This judge perhaps has nothing to think with.  Good grief.  The little girl is almost a baby.  Even in my far away day at age 12 I knew and so do you at any age, right from wrong, good from evil.  I think we all know it even before our parents teach it.  But the born criminal, the bad seed, that life form knows as well but just does not care.

Schoolboy, 12, who showed no remorse after raping six-year-old girl walks free from court and is ordered to pay her just £300

The boy told probation officer ‘I don’t care how she feels’ when asked about victim

He was given a 12 month referral order at Ipswich Youth Court

He was also banned from contacting the victim or her family for 12 months

By Steve Nolan

A schoolboy who raped a six-year-old girl twice has walked free from court despite telling a probation officer ‘I don’t care’ when asked how his young victim felt following her ordeal.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted forcing the girl to carry out a sex act on two occasions, Ipswich Youth Court heard.

But during a meeting with a court official, who was compiling a pre-sentence report, the youth showed no remorse for his victim.

Prosecutor Simon Newell said the boy was asked what he felt about the impact of his crimes on his victim and replied: ‘I don’t care how she feels.’

District Judge Celia Dawson told him that she was not sending him to a secure youth offending unit because she did not want him to be in the company of ‘older and more sophisticated criminals’.

The boy, who lives on the Suffolk and Norfolk border, was given a 12 month referral order and a 12 month restraining order banning him from contacting the victim or her family.

He was also ordered to pay £300 in compensation to the girl, having admitted two counts of rape at an earlier hearing.

The court heard that the boy’s parents took him to a police station when they heard about the sex attack allegations where he admitted what he had done straight away.

Judgee wudgee then went on to make the following erroneous statement.

‘I hope you are aware if you don’t change your attitude you may have very serious problems in the future.’

District Judge Celia Dawson

No you fucking idiot!  The people with the serious problem are his future victims.
If we’re lucky judge --- maybe it’ll be someone close to you.  There’s always hope. Wonder what your judgement will be then. ??

Gator Done

First Time Hunters Catch 727lb Gator

In Mississippi River

image

Vicksburg, MS - A half-century old, cold-blooded, and weighing a third of a ton: there’s a new record for heaviest gator killed in Mississippi.

Three men struggled for hours to pull the beast out of the Mississippi River in Port Gibson. They say they finally got it out of the water on Monday morning.

The Mississippi Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Parks official calls it a record-breaker at 727 pounds.

Right now it’s being kept in deep freeze at a Vicksburg meat processor - a frigid end to the heated battle with completely inexperience gator hunters.

The tag-holder is 27-year-old Dustin Bockman, a UPS driver who lives in Vicksburg.

“It was about 8 o’clock [p.m. on Sunday] and it was me, my brother Ryan, and one of my best friends Cole Landers,” Bockman said.

“He marked him with a buoy with the first shot,” Cole said of Bockman’s strategy. “And we also snagged him with a rod and reel.”

“After you get a hook in him then you just have to fight him and wear him out until you can get him up,” Ryan Bockman, Dustin’s brother, said.

“It was like trying to pull a tree out of the water,” Dustin Bockman said.

“It just would go to the bottom and would not move. It didn’t matter what you did. It’d just stay there until he decided to move,” Bockman said.

After two hours of fighting the 50-something-year-old gator slipped up but it wouldn’t break the surface of the water.

Three shots to the back of the head killed it but also earned it a nickname.

“Elmer,” Bockman said.

“When you stick a gun in the water and it shoots, the pressure, the gas comes out and it can’t come out the end of the barrel. It exploded the gun barrel back like a banana he said that it looked like Elmer Fudd on the cartoon so he called him ‘Elmer’,” Bockman said.

Oh God. Bubba, Earl, and Skeeter in a pirogue. Trying to fire a rifle underwater.  rolleyes  rolleyes  It’s a small miracle they didn’t also earn themselves a Darwin Award.

with apologies to gorillas ….

Looks like one group of these gorillas in the mist have started their own personal aid fund.

Sorry. I should not have used that expression.  Most unfair and I’m sure the Gorillas would not like the comparison had they the gift of speech.  Funny though how some undeserving species do.

So here it is 8 months into 2013 and folks are still raising funds and spending good money in this place.  I guess silly white people will still be doing it a thousand years from now.  By then however, they may not even be all white.  Might be a cross between the two as the brainwashing of made to feel guilty white folks which has been going on for generations, takes hold and produces mostly black and brown and all shades of same. Then nobody will have to feel guilty anymore, but this part of the world will remain exactly as it is now. Or perhaps worse as the whites become blacks and everything just falls apart.

Machete gang shot AK47 rounds above the heads of 14 British private school pupils as they robbed them during Africa aid trip

Group leader and her husband, both 64, assaulted in roadside ambush

Their local tour guide was also stabbed in the back by the armed robbers

Pupils were from £4,000-a-term Cranbrook School in Kent

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Gunman launched a roadside ambush on 14 British private school pupils on an aid trip in Africa, firing AK47 rounds above their heads and threatening them with machetes.

‘We will kill you!’ the men shouted at the youngsters before rifling their bags and making off with money, cameras and mobile phones during the hold-up in the Tabora region of Tanzania.

During the 90-minute ordeal group leader Angela Daly was assaulted, while her husband George, 64, was kicked in the head.

Their local guide was stabbed in the back before the robbers fled.

But the group of 14 pupils, aged 15 to 18, and two staff from £4,000-a-term Cranbrook School in Kent were said to be ‘shaken’ but uninjured following the robbery last month.

A police escort was assigned to them for the remainder of the four-week trip by the regional police commissioner, headmaster John Weeds said.

Although the pupils were given the option of flying home after their ordeal, they all agreed to carry on.

Mrs Daly, a former headteacher, praised the pupils’ bravery. She told The Sun: ‘All of us thought they’d kill us but the students - eight boys and six girls - were incredible.

‘There was no screaming or hysterics and they handed over the money. You don’t resist when someone’s pointing a gun at you.

‘Afterwards, they did admit a lot of prayers were said.’

Hey ...  catch the following quote. You may have to read it more than once.
And folks think my home state of California is La-La land.

The British High Commission in Dar es Salaam was told about the incident, which Mr Weeds said would not deter the school’s pupils from travelling to east Africa again.

Mr Weeds said: ‘The vehicle was not targeted, and there were a number of other local people in the same queue of traffic involved. It wasn’t just about the students.

‘The students were fine. There is no accounting for the emotional effect of such an episode as that is difficult to diagnose, but they came back in high spirits.

‘We will review what happened but we are very enthusiastic about sending our students to the developing world. It’s a very valuable way of broadening horizons.

‘It gives some experience of a completely different environment in a controlled way.

Oh it was controlled okay.  By the guys with the guns.
And as for broadening horizons, ha.  This seems a hell of a way to do that.
The article goes on to claim the school has been helping in this part of the world for 30 years.
Gotta be a joke there somewhere.

Strasbourg court ruled it was ‘inhuman’ for prisoners to die in jail

Deep down I do not believe that the Brits will accept this kind of ruling from the European court.  My guess is they will argue it and finally ignore it.  They could I suppose challenge it in the EU court.  But whatever happens I think it very unlikely that the Brits will cave in to this kind of insanity.

I believe there are people in this world who can not ever be reformed, rehabilitated or saved. They are pure evil.  Which of course doesn’t mean they are all stupid and do not know how to manipulate the system to their advantage when they can.  That the system so often fails us all and gives in to those venomous creatures when they do, is more the fault of weak kneed criminal system than it is of the vermin.  It’s no different than a business taking advantage of all the legal tax loopholes provided.

This particular bleeding heart, hand wringing lefty sob, is well beyond my meager command of the language.

Take a look.  Unbelievable. To us.  Not to them.

Triple murderer becomes first Briton to challenge his ‘life means life’ sentence after Strasbourg ruled it was ‘inhuman’ for prisoners to die in jail

Arthur Hutchinson stabbed couple to death on eve of daughter’s wedding

He also killed their son and repeatedly raped a teenage guest in 1983

Strasbourg declared it was ‘degrading’ for prisoners to die in jail

Some 49 prisoners are currently in British jails serving whole life tariffs

By JACK DOYLE and LARISA BROWN

A multiple murderer has become the first Briton to challenge his ‘life means life’ tariff following last month’s controversial ruling by European judges that it breaches human rights.

Arthur Hutchinson, jailed for stabbing a wealthy couple to death after breaking into their home on the night of their daughter’s wedding, then killing one of their sons and repeatedly raping another wedding guest, has launched the appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

The 73-year-old was handed a whole life tariff nearly 30 years ago and was told he would die behind bars.

The Strasbourg court ruled last month it was ‘inhuman and degrading’ for prisoners to face death in jail.

The initial case was brought following an appeal by three killers including Jeremy Bamber, who shot dead five members of his family in 1985.

Some 49 prisoners are currently in British jails serving whole life tariffs.

Justice Secretary Chris Grayling said: ‘I have repeatedly made clear how profoundly I disagree with the recent ruling by the European Court.

‘Our judges should be able to tell those who commit the most heinous crimes imaginable that they may never be released.

‘To be told this breaches human rights is absurd - and an insult to those who wrote the original Human Rights Convention. What about the rights of the victims and their families?

‘I continue to strongly believe that whole life tariffs are appropriate for the worst murder cases. This is why I want wholesale reforms to our human rights laws.’

Hutchinson is going back to Strasbourg in an attempt to have his sentence declared a breach of his human rights. While his case could be ruled on by the court, any parole application could not take place unless the Government changes the law.

Previously under UK law, whole-life tariff prisoners had no possibility of a parole review or release. The sentence was reserved for offenders judged to be the most dangerous to society.

But, following an appeal by three killers, European judges ruled that a tariff which forces murderers to die in jail was ‘inhuman and degrading’ and proposed that cases should be reviewed after 25 years.

The killers who launched the challenge were Jeremy Bamber, who shot dead five members of his family in 1985, Douglas Vinter and Peter Moore. The most recent murderers to receive a whole life tariff are Mark Bridger, who killed five-year-old April Jones, and Dale Cregan, who murdered two police officers.

The Government has already been asked to provide an official response to Hutchinson’s claim, which could lead to a full hearing next year.

Dominic Raab MP, who is campaigning for human rights reform, told the Daily Telegraph: ‘You couldn’t get a better example of a case where “life should mean life”.

‘UK democratic accountability over our criminal justice system is yet again being threatened by the insatiable appetite of the Strasbourg court.’

Hutchinson broke into the home of Basil and Avril Laitner in Dore, Sheffield, in October 1983, armed with an eight-inch knife.

His trial heard that he killed Mr Laitner, 59, a solicitor, and his wife, 55, whom he stabbed 26 times, hours after the family had celebrated the wedding of their daughter Suzanne.

Hutchinson also killed their son Richard before leading an 18-year-old woman at knifepoint to the marquee in the garden where the reception had been held, tying her up and raping her.

The judge ruled that Hutchinson should serve 18 years, but then Home Secretary Leon Brittan later ruled he should face the whole life tariff.

I don’t understand the original judgment of 18 years. I think that judge meant this animal could appear before a parole board and seek freedom. Something apparently the socialist court in Strasbourg think is reasonable.
And just so the reader knows,
Hutchinson had already brought a challenge against his sentence in the British courts.  But five years ago a Court of appeal turned him down.

You can see why his only hope is the court in Strasbourg.  And as I said at the beginning, I see little chance of that happening.

hands up, spread em, drop that tv remote

Drew posted this.

The Blackrobes blow it again ... how bass ackwards can these buttmonkeys be?

3rd Circuit Court: Second Amendment “Unsettled”

While Drew was doing that, I was busy reading the following not having yet seen his post.

Couple kept in the cells for four hours after being arrested in their bedroom by armed police when a paramedic mistook TV remote for a gun

· Paramedics went to help woman suffering from a panic attack
· While they tended to Michelle Malone her partner was watching TV
· Couple now plan on taking action against West Mercia Police over incident

By Anna Edwards

A couple were arrested at gunpoint when armed officers raided their home after a paramedic mistook their TV remote for a gun and reported them.
Michelle Malone, 46, and Keith Abrahams, 44, were bundled into a police van in the middle of the night and locked in a cell, before being questioned for four hours.
They were eventually released without charge after a paramedic, who had attended the address to help Michelle who suffered a panic attack, thought the remote was a firearm and called police.

The pair said they were surrounded by 10 armed officers wearing body armour, eight uniformed police as well as a dog handler at 1am in their Hereford flat the next morning.

They were then frog-marched from their home and taken to a nearby police station while officers then conducted a forensic fingertip search of the property but found no trace of a gun.

Detectives confirmed during the pair’s interview the paramedic believed he had spotted Keith holding a firearm in the bedroom - but he was only holding a remote as he watched television.

She said: ‘The police told us the medic had seen a 10 inch long black firearm being held by Keith as he lay in bed. ‘But he had dozed off watching TV in his bedroom - it must have been the remote.

‘There is no other explanation. The room was dark but I can’t see how you would mistake it for a weapon. ‘I suffered the indignity of being treated like this all for the sake of a television remote control.

‘I’m an upstanding citizen and normal people should not be treated like this. ‘I can only believe to imagine what my neighbours thought.

‘I just remember running out of bed after hearing a bang like and earthquake and seeing police pointing guns at Keith, who was up against the wall.

‘We were held at the station for four hours but released without charge, but I couldn’t believe it when I heard they were searching for a gun.

‘I’ve never had a gun in my life - I’ve never even seen one before. It was just horrendous. ‘I got back to the house and it was completely wrecked from the search and I just broke down.

‘We received no apology and I just feel violated by their intrusive actions.

And there’s a bit more.

UR IN TROUBLE NOW AMERICA. FRANKIE BOYLE IS ON A HUNGER STRIKE FOR A WEEK

This self professed comic who actually has made tons of money via a very gullable young following, is going to singlehandedly get the USA to release on of the guys being held at Guantanamo.  How?
He’s going on a hunger strike for a week I believe it is. A week?  Wouldn’t that be more a diet than a strike?

So anyway, this foul mouthed bit of total sleaze want the the USA to release one of the prisoners.  He’d like it better if the USA closed Gitmo. And it’s his business you see because, well ... even tho he is a foreigner, he some kind of right to tell America what to do and how it ought to handle things re this subject.
Like it’s really his business.  But with that ego, maybe he really thinks it is.

Now if only someone could toss him into the same hole with that Thomas witch ...

So here’s the latest big mouth almost unknown in America, trying to influence America to do his bidding.

Keeping his mouth shut (but only when it comes to food): Controversial Frankie Boyle goes on hunger strike to support Britain-based Guantanamo Bay prisoner

By Anna Edwards

He’s normally known for making offensive remarks that prompt either disgust or laughter.

image

But on this occasion controversial comic Frankie Boyle only wants to provoke debate about the human rights of a Guantanamo Bay prisoner.

He has gone on hunger strike in solidarity with a Britain-based inmate of the notorious prison.

Boyle, who more usually makes the news by offending people with his acerbic wit, hopes to raise publicity for the plight of Shaker Aamer who has been held at the detention camp since 2002.

He is among a number of people who are taking it in turns to go for a week without eating to show support for the father of four, who is a legal, permanent resident of the UK and is married to a British national.

his acerbic wit ?  His mouth is a toilet and that I suppose passes for wit these days.

In his online blog, US lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, the founder and director of legal action charity Reprieve, wrote that he had spent the past week with no food with Boyle taking over from him.

He said that his high profile - and millions of Twitter followers - would be able to highlight what was happening at Guantanamo.

‘Frankie’s action is more important than mine,’ he wrote.

‘One purpose of these symbolic actions is to provoke debate, to press President Obama to fulfill his post-election promise, and I suspect Frankie is better at doing that than I am.’

He said that the septuagenarian actress Julie Christie has also just volunteered to take part, adding: ‘We live in a celebrity world, and there is nothing wrong with that so long as celebrities use their notoriety for a good purpose.’

Julie who?  Jeeze ... I didn’t even know she was still alive. Must be a hundred by now.

That’s So NY

World Trade Center owners seek billions from airlines

A federal judge began listening to testimony Monday that will help him decide whether the owners of the World Trade Center buildings destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks can pursue billions of dollars in damages from aviation companies linked to the hijacked planes.

U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein in Manhattan plans to announce his decision from the bench as soon as several witnesses conclude testifying in the trial expected to last about three days.

The buildings’ owners, World Trade Center Properties, have already received nearly $5 billion in insurance proceeds.

Lawyers for the owners argued during opening statements that the money they already have received does not preclude them from separately pursuing damages against aviation companies.

Attorney Roger Podesta, speaking for companies including United Airlines Inc., US Airways Inc., American Airlines Inc. and its parent company, AMR Corp., said the $3.5 billion being sought for destruction of the twin towers and a third skyscraper would amount to double compensation.

He said an $8.5 billion total recovery would be more than 2 1/2 times the fair value of the buildings that fell.

Living an hour or less away from New York City for almost my entire life, I often lose awareness that most of the rest of the country despises the place. I don’t go into Manhattan very often, but when I do it’s a grand adventure and I love it. So much to do, so much to see ... and then I get the heck out and go home.  I caught this bit of news on the TV this morning and had an instant ... fit of pique. So New York. Guess they haven’t learned one damned iota from the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, a federal law that resulted when cities - NYC was in the lead of the movement - tried to sue gun companies for criminals using their products ... which, OMGOMGOMG!!!, worked just like guns!!

I can’t see any difference here, though Boeing may not have it’s own personal federal law yet like Colt and Ruger now do. But conceptually it’s an identical situation: a perfectly legal product is stolen (hijacked) and then used in the commission of a crime (9/11). So NYC folks want to sue the manufacturer. What a bunch of Seinfelds.  Judge Drew would have this case before his bench for about 13 seconds before handing down a very New York dismissal.

brit anger at European Court of Human Rights

I have read in the papers that Obama either has already or is about to, sign a multi billion dollar (or is it only million dollar) trade deal with the EU.
SO then closer ties with that officialdom I guess.  Lets hope it doesn’t eventually involve those euro-ass-wipes meddling in USA affairs.  Can’t help but wonder if there were any concessions made to the EU that might impinge on our sovereignty. Just asking.  Because at this moment, many Brits pretty angry at latest decision by the ..... hell.

See it for yourselves.  This really is unbelievable but it’s happening right now.  I think the Brits may pull themselves out of the tangles of this court.

Here’s just another serious reason why.

What about the victims’ rights? Meddling European judges rule that even Britain’s most evil killers have human right to seek freedom

Prisoners serving whole life terms win the right to seek parole in Strasbourg

European Court of Human Rights rules sentence ‘inhumane and degrading’

Convicted killers Jeremy Bamber, Peter Moore and Douglas Vinter appealed

Minister Chris Grayling describes ruling as ‘a terrible day for British justice’

By Jack Doyle, James Slack and James Tozer

Victims’ families reacted with fury last night after European judges ruled serial killers must be given the right to seek parole.

In a hugely provocative decision, Strasbourg said murderers and rapists condemned to die behind bars must now be given a chance of freedom.

The families said the idea of the killers walking Britain’s streets again was a ‘horrendous prospect’ and ‘life must mean life’.

The whole-life tariff applies to 48 men and one woman – Rose West – whose crimes courts regard as so heinous they must never be let out.

But three of them – Jeremy Bamber, Douglas Vinter and Peter Moore – appealed to Europe, saying their sentences ‘undermined human dignity and destroyed the human spirit’. Vinter and Bamber even claimed their time in jail had left them ‘depressed and in despair’.

Yesterday the highest body of the European Court of Human Rights, the Grand Chamber, agreed with them.

It said refusing the 49 any prospect of release amounted to inhuman and degrading treatment in a breach of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

All the killers must now be allowed a review – with the prospect of release if they have been ‘rehabilitated’ and are deemed harmless.

Tory MPs said the ruling was an attack on democracy that exposed the court’s ‘warped moral compass’. Justice Secretary Chris Grayling spoke of ‘a terrible day for British justice’.

Ministers are already in a stand-off with the court over its demand to lift the ban on prisoners voting and are furious over its decisions in favour of terrorists and criminals.

Writing in today’s Mail, Mr Grayling threatened to withdraw from the court’s control after the next election, and accused the judges of being ‘misguided’ and trying to act like a ‘Supreme Court of Europe’.

I will not mention by name here but this has a personal (in a minor way) meaning for us.  One of the 49 killers had done his evil on the family of someone we know very well.  A close personal friend who a few years ago told us the entire sorry tale including things not mentioned in the papers.
The court is soooooo concerned about the rights of these evil, murderous bastards.  How about the victim’s rights?

A few examples out of the 49.

49 monsters given hope of freedom by the European Court of Human Rights: They’re the UK’s most notorious killers… now they can seek parole

ROSE WEST: With her husband murdered 10 young women in their house which became known as the house of horrors.
They even murdered their own daughter.  Husband Fred killed himself in prison.

JEREMY BAMBER: Murdered his adoptive parents, sister and her twin boys age six.

PETER MOORE: Murdered and mutilated four men. He did it, just for fun.

DENNIS NILSEN:Murdered 16 and was caught because his disposal of human entrails blocked his drains.

DOUGLAS VINTER: Stabbed his wife four times before finally strangling her to death.  Now here’s a case of how dumb can a woman be. She met him while he was in prison for a previous killing in 1996.  But like a few others on this list of rotters, he killed and then was let off in 2005 and then killed his wife in ‘08.
Oh sure, allow these guys out as a human right. They aren’t dangerous anymore.
Wanna bet?

Don’t be lazy dear readers.  Read the entire list of 49.  It’s insane that there are some who had maimed and killed and got out only to do it all over again.
Here’s a link. Read it please.

well, this is now officially the silly season, innit?

wow, talk about a bit ott.

Do we live in a silly world or just a sick one?  How about both. Sick and silly.  What kind of thinking brings people to this sort of dumb thing? Yeah dumb thinking. I know. But what preceded that?  What brought them to this level?
Never mind.
Maybe I’m better off not knowing.

Take a look.

‘In sickness and when we are well’: Couple due to marry in civil ceremony were told traditional vow was too religious and must be rewritten

Gary and Louise Lidington were told their chosen vows were ‘too religious’
Registrar called Mrs Lidington, 33, day before and told her to rewrite them
Couple picked civil wedding at Wilton’s Music Hall in London’s East End
The1949 Marriage Act simply says ‘no religious service will be used’
Tower Hamlets Council says officials feared vows breached rules

By Paul Bentley

A registrar ruled the words ‘to have and to hold, in sickness and in health’ were too religious for their civil ceremony.

The 39-year-old and her new husband Gary, 43, had instead to say ‘hold and have’ and ‘in sickness and when we are well’.

They were told the traditional vows were too Christian because of their roots in the Anglican Book of Common Prayer. Yet a minor tweak of the wording satisfied the officials.

Mrs Lidington found the process so ridiculous she burst into a fit of giggles during the ceremony at Wilton’s Music Hall, a historic Victorian theatre in the East End of London. Her husband, who is a barrister, stumbled over his new lines.

‘The vows are so important,’ said Mrs Lidington. ‘They have just stood the test of time, they sound like poetry, they flow beautifully and they are just the form of words that you expect at a wedding. Ever since I was 11 I just imagined that they would be the words I would use when I married my husband.

‘It just seems ridiculous that words which don’t mention religion could be so problematic.’

There is much confusion surrounding the law on civil weddings. The 1949 Marriage Act states that ‘no religious service shall be used at any marriage solemnised in the presence of a superintendent registrar’.

Eight years ago, however, the rules were relaxed to allow a limited amount of material that makes reference to religion

It is now for register offices to interpret the law as they see fit.

She has rwo of them.  Can’t wait for him to discover her daughter Lourdes when he’s about 9 or 10.

I haven’t a clue who Mary Louise is but she hasn’t any more taste than the others.

And even Steven Spielberg has two of them. Here he is with his son.  Somehow that seems so damn odd to say.

I forgot who this woman is and misplaced the note with her name. Not that it matters but, she needs to teach the poor kid to smile or something, especially at night.

bradley manning a hero? yes. but only to the left and other american haters.

What’s got me all worked up today.

Another left wing libtard and I don’t have the sense to pass his scribbling by. No. I hafta read the crap so that I can get my dander up.

This guy writes like he speaks for Americans, one of which he is not.
He claims that flaming faggot Bradley Manning is a hero.  Well right there I know he doesn’t know what the word means.  And apparently the term treason is meaningless but then, he is a liberal and I don’t think they recognize that word either.  He makes a big deal out of chopper pilots cheering after a hit on what they saw as enemy personnel. Well heck, that’s how ppl in combat talk. But Mr. Jones here would not know that, more than likely having had a nice cushy life and not been involved in any combat outside the verbal.  I’ve read this guy before, I must be a masochist as I know from past reads he does not think very highly of the US.
Anyway … here. Take a look.
The hard copy version reads;

THE US IS STANDING IN THE DOCK TOO
By Owen Jones

It has launched illegal and unjust wars with catastrophic human consequences; it has helped overthrow democratically elected governments; it arms and backs some of the most brutal dictatorships on the face of the earth; and it has a track record of supporting terrorist organisations. Even many of its ardent supporters admit that the US foreign policy elite has a somewhat chequered history.

Today, an American hero stands in the dock, damned for a relatively tiny ray of light he shone on the darker recesses of this elite. Over three years ago, US soldier Bradley Manning – even now just 25 years old – leaked 250,000 US diplomatic cables and half a million army reports. There has never been a bigger leak of classified material in the history of the United States.

His punishment has already been severe. According to Juan Méndez, the UN special rapporteur on torture, he has faced cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. For months, he was deprived of human contact. He was stripped of his clothes, left without privacy, and forced to sleep without any darkness. In 2011, P J Crowley was forced to resign as the US state department’s official spokesman after slamming Manning’s treatment as “ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid”.

Manning is partly being tried under the Espionage Act, a piece of legislation dating back to the First World War. He faces 22 charges in total: to 10 of them he has pleaded guilty, including wilfully communicating to an unauthorised person. But the most alarming charge is that he was “aiding the enemy” – in other words, that he intentionally helped al-Qa’ida.

No wonder powerful interests in the US want to make an example of Manning. Among the videos he released was an Apache helicopter conducting a bombing raid that killed Iraqi civilians and a Reuters journalist. “The most alarming aspect of the video to me was the seemingly delightful bloodlust they appeared to have,” Manning has said, appalled by the lack of “value for human life” shown by the pilots’ descriptions of “dead bastards”. Here was the “on-the-ground reality” of both the Iraq and Afghan wars, he claimed.

The truth is Manning has done a great service, both to the American people and to the world as a whole. US foreign policy depends on secrecy, not simply because of fear of US enemies, but because the reality would often horrify the American people.

There is nothing patriotic about the poorly scrutinised actions of the US foreign policy elite. Scores of young men or women are sent to be killed or maimed: those who call for bringing them to safety are smeared as “unpatriotic”. US civilians are put at risk of “blowback”, a CIA word for the unintended consequences of foreign interventions. They can even fail disastrously on their own terms. Back in the 1950s, the US helped overthrow Iran’s last democratically-elected Prime Minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh, fuelling anti-American sentiment that helped drive the Iranian Revolution.

That is why Manning has done us such a service. He has encouraged us to scrutinise the hidden realities of US power, and consider the dire consequences of decisions shrouded in secrecy. His actions should compel us to build a more open, balanced world, where great powers are less able to throw their poorly understood weight around. It would be a long-term investment: the US is in long-term decline, and autocratic China may take its place, quite possibly using its power more unjustly. Better, then, to challenge this world order now.

I have not posted the entire article.
You will find that HERE.

the wheels of justice?

A little late now judge, in the case of those already dead. They could have been spared but for your f***** up bleeding heart attitude.

The wheels of justice(?) grind how?

Doesn’t seem like they move at all.

I failed to do my duty: Judge’s confession after the burglar he refused to jail strikes again at pensioner’s home 11 days later

· Judge said latest victim suffered because he had not done ‘his public duty’
· Steffan Jackson, 18, from Leeds, pleaded guilty to burglary

By Eleanor Harding

A judge has chastised himself for not doing ‘his public duty’ after sparing a burglar jail – only for the thief to break into another house just 11 days later.

Judge Scott Wolstenholme bemoaned his own ‘foolishly optimistic’ decision to give Steffan Jackson, 18, who had burgled his father’s home, a final chance.

The teenager, whose own mother has had to call the police about him in the past, was given a community order.

But less than two weeks later he burgled another house, this time belonging to an 87-year-old man.

It is not the first time that Judge Wolstenholme’s ‘lenient’ sentencing has caused controversy. One man spared jail for a stabbing went on to murder four people.

In 2005, he was criticised over his ‘lenient’ sentencing of murderer Mark Hobson, who was spared jail for stabbing a man and went on to kill his girlfriend Claire Sanderson her twin sister, Diane, and an elderly couple James and Joan Britton.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
