The End Times?

France is threatening to use nukes in retaliation for any terrorist attacks ...

BREST, France (AP) - President Jacques Chirac warned Thursday that France could respond with nuclear weapons to a state-sponsored terrorist attack, broadening the terms of his country’s deterrence in the face of emerging threats. The warning came as France worked with other Western nations to ensure that Iran does not become a nuclear power. But officials and experts said Chirac’s comments were not aimed specifically at Tehran.

“Nuclear deterrence ... is not aimed at dissuading fanatic terrorists,” Chirac said in a speech delivered at the L’Ile-Longue nuclear submarine base in the western region of Brittany. “Leaders of states who would use terrorist means against us, just like anyone who would envisage using, in one way or another, arms of mass destruction, must understand that they would expose themselves to a firm and fitting response from us,” he said. “This response could be conventional. It could also be of another nature.”

France’s nuclear arsenal is considered a purely deterrent force to protect the nation’s vital interests and is not intended for regular combat. But Chirac, who has the power to decide on deploying nuclear weapons, said there should be no doubt “about our will and our capacity to use nuclear arms” if the country’s vital interests are threatened. “In numerous countries, radical ideas are spreading, advocating a confrontation of civilizations,” he said, adding “odious attacks” could escalate to “other yet more serious forms involving states.”

The Hildabeast is spewing venom at President Bush for not taking Iran seriously and calls for sanctions against Iran...

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) - Sen. Hillary Clinton called for United Nations sanctions against Iran and faulted the Bush administration for “downplaying” the threat Tehran’s nuclear program poses. In an address Wednesday evening at Princeton University, Clinton, D-N.Y., said it was a mistake for the U.S. to have Britain, France and Germany head up nuclear talks with Iran over the past 2 1/2 years. Last week, Iran resumed nuclear research in a move Tehran claims is for energy, not weapons.

“I believe that we lost critical time in dealing with Iran because the White House chose to downplay the threats and chose to outsource the negotiations,” Clinton said. Earlier this week, a meeting in London produced no agreement among the U.S., France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China on whether to refer the dispute over Iranian nuclear enrichment to the Security Council, which could impose sanctions.

The Iranians listen to all this and decide to pull all of their money out of European banks ...

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Embroiled in a nuclear standoff with the West, Iran said on Friday it was moving its foreign assets to shield them from possible U.N. sanctions and flexed its oil muscles with a proposal to cut OPEC output. “Yes, Iran has started withdrawing money from European banks and transferring it to other banks abroad,” said a senior Iranian official, who asked not to be named.

Central Bank Governor Ebrahim Sheibani was quoted earlier as saying Tehran had started shifting funds, but he sidestepped a question on whether the assets would go to accounts in Asia. It is far from clear how placing assets in Asia or anywhere abroad would protect them from being frozen as few governments or major banks would be willing to flout U.N. sanctions openly.

The United States and the European Union want the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to refer Iran to the Security Council at an emergency meeting on February 2. The council has the power to impose trade or diplomatic sanctions, though no swift action to punish Iran is likely. Russia and China, which both have major commercial interests at stake in the Islamic Republic, have urged caution.

Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA in Vienna said hauling his country to the council would be difficult because of the views of Russia, China and some European and developing countries. “Sending Iran to the Security Council lacks a legal basis,” Aliasghar Soltaniyeh told the semi-official Fars news agency.

On top of all that, a whale sailed up the river Thames today and attacked London ...

LONDON, England (AP) - A whale swam up the River Thames past Parliament and Big Ben in central London on Friday, then beached itself. The whale was a Northern bottlenose, said Richard Sabian, a zoologist at the Natural History Museum in London, who went to the scene. “I can confirm reports that it is a whale,” he said, as television networks provided live coverage.

Sabian said such whales rarely swim in the nearby English Channel and this was the first sighting of one in the River Thames since the museum began recording them in 1913. The British Divers Marine Life Rescue group said it would help the whale if it became stranded. At one point the whale appeared to get stuck in shallow water in the River Thames, and officials wearing yellow jackets could be seen running up and down the shoreline at low tide trying to push it back into deeper water.

Witnesses, including people riding in boats and walking along the banks of the river, first spotted the whale near Parliament and said it appeared to be 20 feet long. “I saw it blow. It was a spout of water which sparkled in the air,” said Tom Howard-Vyne, a spokesman for London Eye, the large Ferris wheel on the banks of the river. “It was an amazing sight.”

Is this like ... Armageddon or what?

Gone With The Windbag

“Cotton Picking Mind” -by- Cox & Forkum

Martin Luther King Jr. fought four decades ago to free black Americans from the legacy of slavery. Yesterday, Senator Clinton compared the Republican leadership of the current House of Representatives to the very idea the civil rights leader dedicated his life to fighting.

“When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run - it has been run like a plantation,” she said. “You know what I’m talking about.”

-- New York Sun January 17, 2006

- Michelle Malkin has this one covered pretty well ...

Maybe Hillary just needs to pass out some of that N’Awlins Chocolate to keep the slaves happy?

The Hildabeast Screeches

The most dangerous woman in the world is shifting into high gear in preparation for the 2008 Presidential race. She has obviously been listening to Harry Belafonte (or tutoring him) because the rhetoric is the same. Blast Bush! Play the race card! Screech! Scream! Do you really want to have to listen to this creature dictate from the Oval Office for four (or more) years? Can the country survive with Bill Clinton as “First Dude”? Arrrgghhh! I’m having a nightmare. Help me!

January 16, 2006, 7:17 PM EST
NEW YORK (AP)

Sen. Hillary Clinton on Monday blasted the Bush administration as “one of the worst” in U.S. history and compared the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to a plantation where dissenting voices are squelched.

Speaking during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, Clinton also offered an apology to a group of Hurricane Katrina survivors “on behalf of a government that left you behind, that turned its back on you.” Her remarks were met with thunderous applause by a mostly black audience at the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem.

The House “has been run like a plantation, and you know what I’m talking about,” said Clinton, D-N.Y. “It has been run in a way so that nobody with a contrary view has had a chance to present legislation, to make an argument, to be heard.” “We have a culture of corruption, we have cronyism, we have incompetence,” she said. “I predict to you that this administration will go down in history as one of the worst that has ever governed our country.”

A spokeswoman for the White House declined to comment and referred questions to the Republican National Committee. RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said: “On a day when Americans are focused on the legacy of Martin Luther King, Hillary Clinton is focused on the legacy of Hillary Clinton.”

Harry & Hillary

Memo To Senator Clinton: You are known by the company you keep. ‘Nuff said?

Hillary Clinton to Fundraise with Harry Belafonte
(NEWSMAX)

The New York Observer is reporting that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) will appear Thursday at a luncheon with Calypso singer turned Bush-bashing liberal activist Harry Belafonte. The luncheon is an awards ceremony given by the Children’s Defense Fund, a liberal interest group.

Belafonte gained recent attention by calling President Bush the “world’s greatest terrorist” while visiting Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez. Belafonte was joined on the Venezuela trip by a group of outspoken liberal Americans, including actor Danny Glover and Princeton University Professor Cornel West.

“No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says,” Belafonte told Chavez, “we’re here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people ... support your revolution.” Belafonte finished his appearance on Chavez’s television and radio broadcast with the shout in Spanish, “Viva la revolucion!”

It will not be the first time that Hillary Clinton has appeared with Belafonte after the 78-year-old singer has made controversial remarks. In September, Belafonte told the Congressional Black Caucus that the Bush foreign policy “has made a wreck of this planet”.

“I’m always in Africa,” Belafonte ranted, “and when I go to these places I see American policy written on the walls of oppression everywhere.” Sen. Clinton was the next speaker at the event. Following up, she noted, “What Harry said is so important.”

As reported by Cybercast News Service, during a civil rights march in Atlanta last August, Belafonte called prominent African-American officials in the Bush administration, such as Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, “black tyrants.” He has also compared the Bush administration to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany and, in 2002, described then-Secretary of State Powell as a “house slave.”

The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a conservative black leader, accused Belafonte of treason. “Harry Belafonte’s hatred of President Bush is causing him to embrace America’s enemies,” the Rev. Peterson said in a press release. “I also believe that his actions are treasonous as described by Article Three, Section Three of the U.S. Constitution, which says that ‘adhering to our enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort’ constitutes treason.”

Hillary Loves The Flag

Ah, Hillary, my dear. Surely you’re not going to try and tell little Ol’ Skipper that you really aren’t planning a run for the Presidency in 2008 now, are you? Come over here and give us a hug and confess, sweet-cheeks. I know you really hate cooperating with Repugnicans, especially when it confuses your Leftist, Liberal, Socialist, Communist, bed-wetting, pinko base.

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt their little feelings. Hill sweetie, how long do you think you can maintain this mask, pretending to be conservative in order to get a few Red States in your camp? Please tell me you’re not planning on taking up NASCAR racing next (although I’d just love to see you at Daytona in a bikini presenting the winners’s trophy to Dale Earnhardt, Jr). Perhaps this is just a flirtation with the Right and maybe I’m wrong but you really need to ditch that redneck hick of a husband before he unzips your whole quest for Camelot again ....

imageimageHILLARY BACKS BAN
ON FLAG-BURNING

December 5, 2005
WASHINGTON (NY POST)

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has quietly signed on to a Republican measure that makes it illegal to desecrate the American flag — a move that will boost her credibility in the conservative “red” states. Clinton is the sole co-sponsor of Utah Republican Sen. Bob Bennett’s new legislation that outlaws flag-trashing without addressing the issue of a Constitutional amendment to ban it. It’s a delicate dance on a longtime hot-button issue that has major implications in a potential 2008 White House bid for Clinton as she tries to woo heartland voters and block new centrist-Dem darling Gov. Mark Warner of Virginia.

Warner last month fired a warning shot at Hillary’s presidential hopes when he helped elect a fellow Democrat to succeed him in Virginia — proving he has the juice to boost other Democrats in red states. “She has been tagged, just about everywhere, as a likely loser because she can’t carry a single red state. With Mark Warner on the rise, she has got to find ways to counter that criticism. This is one of the exhibits,” said Larry Sabato, of the University of Virginia. Seventy percent of Americans want flag-desecration outlawed, according to several polls — and that feeling is even stronger among the moderate red-state voters Clinton needs to make any White House hopes a reality.

Yet the liberal core of the Democratic Party that Clinton must have during the primary season is dead-set against amending the Constitution to banning flag-burning — which the Supreme Court has ruled is protected by the First Amendment. She hedged on the issue last summer, when the House voted to amend the Constitution and ban flag desecration. It appeared the Senate would vote too — though it hasn’t happened. “I support federal legislation that would outlaw flag-desecration, much like laws that currently prohibit the burning of crosses, but I don’t believe a constitutional amendment is the answer,” she said at the time.

Her spokesman, Philippe Reines, said she’s now following through on her promise. The bill doesn’t explicitly ban anyone from setting the flag afire. But it makes it illegal for a protester to “intimidate any person or group of persons by burning” the flag — which leaves police with plenty of room for interpretation. It also outlaws anyone from lighting somebody else’s flag on fire and from desecrating the flag on federal property. Congressional lawyers, who have been poring over Supreme Court rulings, believe the bill will withstand judicial review. But for Clinton, analysts say the real value is that she can tout her co-sponsorship of the bill on the campaign trail.

No Surgery For Fat People

In case you ever wondered what lies down the dark road of national health care, look no further than our friends in the UK. Now they’re refusing surgery for obese people, or at least those with a body mass index (BMI) over 30 (which rules me out fer sure). This means that if you lived in the UK and fractured a hip, you would not be operated on until your BMI had been checked and approved. Do any of you recall who tried to ram national health care and socialized medicine down our throats back in the early 1990’s? I can’t seem to recall her name but I think it was “HIL” something or other ....

Obese Patients Denied Operations
SUFFOLK, UK (BBC)

Obese people are to be denied some surgical procedures in a bid to cut costs in the NHS. Three Suffolk primary care trusts have ruled patients with a body mass index (BMI) over 30 will not get operations like hip and knee replacements. A person of average weight would have an BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9.

Dr Brian Keeble, a director of Ipswich PCT said: “We cannot pretend that this work wasn’t stimulated by pressing financial problems.” Under new guidelines surgery will not be performed unless “the patient has a body mass index below 30 and conservative means have failed to alleviate the patient’s pain and disability”.

“Pain and disability should be sufficiently significant to interfere with the patient’s daily life and/or ability to sleep.” Hospital consultants and GPs in East Suffolk came up with a list of 10 conditions for which there must be a threshold in order for surgery to be performed. Included in the procedures for which there are conditions are such things as varicose veins and grommets for glue ear in children.

Dr Keeble said: “Our work on clinical thresholds has been a key part of this process. “We started from the idea that operating on some conditions, either at an early stage or before other treatments have been tried, could actually be detrimental to the patient because of the risk of side effects from the procedure.”

But he admitted financial pressures were a factor in the decision. “I believe that these thresholds will produce some clear benefits in that both patients and their GPs will know when these procedures will be performed,” he added. The clinical director of the National Obesity Forum, GP Dr David Haslam, said that he was alarmed by the level being set at a body mass index (BMI) of 30.

“This level condemns a quarter of the population to misery - there’s a huge number of people with a BMI of over 30. “The argument that the life of joints is reduced because people are overweight is more relevant to those with a BMI of above 40.

Quote Of The Day

“This administration owes our CIA agents around the world a promise that their identities will never be jeopardized. And it owes the American people direct answers and responsible action.”
-- Hillary Clinton, blasting former top White House aide Lewis Libby for allegedly lying to investigators

Hmmmmmm .......

direct answers” .... I guess that depends on what your definition of “is” is, doesn’t it, Hillary?

responsible action” .... Do we really need to go into cigars, semen-stained blue dresses, “TravelGate” or Whitewater again, Hillary?

The Hildabeast Weighs In

OK, you knew it was coming and so here it is. Try to keep the comments sane and rational. OK, I only said “try” ....

Hillary Clinton: Alito Record ‘Raises Serious Questions’
(NEWSMAX)

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said yesterday that the judicial record of Bush Supreme Court nominee Sam Alito “raises serious questions about whether he will be steadfast in protecting our most fundamental rights.”

“I intend to closely examine Judge Alito’s record and qualifications and carefully monitor the Judiciary Committee hearings in order to determine whether he intends to be a guardian of the rule of law who puts fairness and justice before ideology,” Clinton said, in a statement posted to her web site.

Clinton warned that only after “a thoughtful and deliberate process of closely examining and scrutinizing Judge Alito’s record” will she be able to determine “whether he merits a seat on the highest court in the nation.”

Of course, Mrs. Clinton had no such problem with her husband’s last Supreme Court pick, ACLU chief counsel Ruth Bader Ginsburg - who was a wild-eyed left-wing ideologue who favored coed prisons and thought that 12-year-old girls should be allowed to have sex.

Nightcap

imageimageBill Clinton was walking along the beach when he stumbled upon a Genie’s lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it and lo-and-behold, a Genie appeared. Bill was amazed and asked if he got three wishes.

The Genie said, “Nope...Due to inflation, constant downswing, low wages in third world countries, and fierce global competition, I can only grant you one wish. So...What’ll it be?”

Bill didn’t hesitate. He said, “I want to be remembered for bringing peace to the Middle East, instead of that other stuff with Monica, and Jennifer, and the rest of those women. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with each other.”

The Genie looked at the map of the Middle East and exclaimed, “Jeez, Fella! These people have been at war for thousands of years. I’m good, but not THAT good. I don’t think it can be done. Make another wish.”

Bill thought for a minute and said, “You know, people really don’t like my wife. Even though she got elected, they call her a carpetbagger. They think she’s mean, ugly, and pushes me around. I wish for her to be the most beautiful woman in the world and I want everybody to like her. That’s what I want.”

The Genie let out a long sigh and said, “Lemme see that map again.”

Shrieking Banshee Alert

imageimageHillary Clinton Jumps On Katrina Bandwagon
(NEW YORK DAILY NEWS - Sept. 5)

With many blaming the growing scope of Katrina’s devastation on the Bush administration, Sen. Hillary Clinton called yesterday for a 9/11-style probe into how the federal government responded to the crisis.

“It has become increasingly evident that our nation was not prepared,” Clinton (D-N.Y.) said in a letter to Bush asking him to set up a “Katrina Commission.”

“The slow pace of relief efforts in the face of a mounting death toll ... seems to confirm that our ability to respond to cataclysmic disasters has not been adequately addressed,” she said.

Her call echoed statements of Republicans such as Arizona’s Sen. John Kyl, chairman of the Technology and Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who plans a hearing and has said the catastrophe in New Orleans could have a lot in common with a terror attack.

A White House spokeswoman deferred comment to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who appeared on numerous Sunday morning broadcasts insisting there would be time to lay blame later.

Clinton has decided at least one thing without waiting for any commission reports. She said she plans to introduce legislation to split the Federal Emergency Management Agency out of the Department of Homeland Security and give it back a cabinet-level director like it had in her husband’s administration.

Memo To The Hildabeast: Just how does one prepare for a Category 5 Hurricane, you ignorant twit? Should we just go ahead and resurrect all those “Duck And Cover” films from the 1950’s? How about if we spend trillions to prepare for something that only happens every five hundred years? Splitting FEMA out of the DOHS won’t improve response time one bit and you know it. Can’t you find better things to do with your time than annoy the grown-ups?

The Hildabeast Conspiracy, Phase II

imageimageIs anyone paying attention to this woman and her conniving strategy (pictured at left in a secret dress rehearsal for being declared Queen Hillary I, her ultimate goal)? Lately, she has come out in favor of “family values” and has even been smooching up to religious groups on the Right. That was Phase I of The Hildabeast Conspiracy. She has suddenly starting sounding like a Conservative, especially when you compare her to the rabid, Leftist anarchists in the Democratic party. In other words, she is doing the same thing her husband did: pretend to be a moderate and after the election, take a sudden turn to the Left. I’ve seen this crap before from ol’ Slick Willy, hisself.

Now comes Phase II of The Hildabeast Conspiracy: the rabid, Leftist anarchists in her party suddenly start picking on her and complaining that she is deserting them. They are up in arms over the “decided tilt toward the center” on key issues. Poor, poor Hillary is being beset on both sides: from the evil “vast right-wing conspiracy” on the Right and the “nattering nabobs of negativity” on the Left. This poor, sweet lady is suffering from abuse by everyone who is not in the moderate center. Don’t you feel sorry for the poor dear? She really needs your vote for President in 2008 to fight back against the evil on both sides of the political spectrum. Would you care to donate $2000 to the Hillary ‘08 campaign. Sure. I knew you would ....

!!! SUCKER !!!

(WASHINGTON POST)—Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s call for an ideological cease-fire in the Democratic Party drew an angry reaction yesterday from liberal bloggers and others on the left, who accused her of siding with the centrist Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) in a long-running dispute over the future of the party.

Long a revered figure by many in the party’s liberal wing, Clinton (D-N.Y.) unexpectedly found herself under attack after calling Monday for a cease-fire among the party’s quarreling factions and for agreeing to assume the leadership of a DLC-sponsored initiative aimed at developing a more positive policy agenda for the party.

The reaction highlighted the dilemma Democratic politicians face trying to satisfy energized activists on the left—many of whom are hungering for party leaders to advance a more full-throated agenda and more aggressively confront President Bush—while also cultivating the moderate Democrats and independents whose support is crucial to winning elections. The challenge has become more acute because of the power and importance grass-roots activists, symbolized by groups such as MoveOn.org and liberal bloggers, have assumed since the 2004 election.

The most pointed critique of Clinton came in one of the most influential blogs on the left, Daily Kos out of Berkeley, Calif., which called Clinton’s speech “truly disappointing” and said she should not provide cover for an organization that often has instigated conflict within the party.

“If she wanted to give a speech to a centrist organization truly interested in bringing the various factions of the party together, she could’ve worked with NDN,” the blog said in a reference to the New Democrat Network, with which Daily Kos’s Markos Moulitsas is associated. “Instead, she plans on working with the DLC to come up with some common party message yadda yadda yadda. Well, that effort is dead on arrival. The DLC is not a credible vehicle for such an effort. Period.”

Other blogs noted that the day Clinton was calling for a truce, one DLC-sponsored blog was writing disparagingly of liberals. Marshall Wittman wrote from the DLC meeting in Columbus, “While someone from the daily kosy (misspelling intended) confines of Beserkely might utter ominous McCarthyite warnings about the ‘enemy within,’ here in Columbus constructive committed crusaders for progressivism are discussing ways to win back the hearts of the heartland.”

Roger Hickey, co-director of the liberal Campaign for America’s Future, said Clinton had badly miscalculated the current politics inside the Democratic Party and argued that she could pay a price for her DLC association if she runs for president in 2008.

“There has been an activist resurgence in the Democratic Party in recent years, and Hillary risks ensuring that there’s a candidate to her left appealing to those activists who don’t much like the DLC,” he said.

Hillary Says ‘NO’ To Freedom Of Speech

The Hildabeast doesn’t believe in freedom of speech, according to NewsMax. She and her cohorts have pressured every major network into cancelling appearances of Edward Klein, author of the sizzling new biography ”The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It and How Far She’ll Go to Become President”. Only Sean Hannity stood up to the immense pressure ....

Hillary Pressures Networks to Cancel Klein
by Carl Limbacher Jr
Monday, June 27, 2005

In what may be an unprecedented act of media censorship, several major TV and cable networks – including NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, Fox and CNN - have cancelled planned appearances of the author of the new, red hot book on Hillary Clinton.

Her aide called the book “full of blatant and vicious fabrications contrived by someone who writes trash for cash.”

Hillary’s top aides and supporters have also launched a major effort to stop any discussion of the book over the TV airwaves. So far, their censorship effort has been a huge success in stopping Klein from appearing on television.

Though the celebrated author was scheduled to appear on more than a half dozen major TV network shows, all have cancelled except one, Fox’s “Hannity & Colmes.”

However, conservative host Sean Hannity did reveal that he was under immense pressure to cancel the program.

“I’ve had more political pressure than I’ve ever had in all my years in radio,” Hannity said to Klein during a radio interview. “Do you know the number of requests I’ve had to cancel you and not have you on this program? I’ve never in the history of this program had more demands to cancel the guest.”

Freedom of speech is fine for me
And sometimes even for thee
But only as long as the two of we
Get it straight and agree, you see?

-- Hitlery Clinton

Hilarious Clinton Gets Spanked By Pataki

imageimage

Senator Hilarious Clinton (D-NY), pictured at left giving a salute to her storm troopers and shouting “Seig Heil”, was scolded by New York Governor George Pataki after the Senator requested Karl Rove’s head on a platter. Pataki snapped back that he would deliver Rove’s head when Senator Hilarious delivered the heads of Harry Reid, Howard Dean and Dick Durbin. At last report, no one was giving head ....

New York Gov. George Pataki read Sen. Hillary Clinton the riot act on Thursday after she demanded that he condemn comments by White House political advisor Karl Rove.

“I think it’s a little hypocritical for Sen. Clinton to call on me to repudiate a political figure’s comment, when she never asked Sen. Durbin to repudiate his comments,” Pataki told reporters, after she complained that he sat idly by as Rove blasted liberals for being soft on terror at a New York Conservative party function Wednesday night.

“She never responded when asked to respond [about Durbin],” Pataki complained. “She never responded to Howard Dean’s insult to every single Republican, saying that they never earned an honest day’s living.

“She never responded to Sen. Reid’s unfair criticism of the president - he called the president a loser and a liar. He’s never apologized - she never requested that.”

“She never called for an apology or clarification when Moveon.org called for moderation and restraint in response to the terrorist attacks.”

Pataki concluded: “So, when she does that, I’ll be glad to listen to her call for me to ask someone to apologize.”

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
