Monday Morning News Bytes

Sometimes the news bites and somedays it just bytes. Or nybbles. Either way it’s the little bits that give us the big picture .. eight bits at a time ....

The Solvency Trap
President Bush calls the Democrats’ bluff on Social Security.

Monday, May 2, 2005 12:01 a.m. EDT

Give President Bush credit for tenacity. Facing nearly total Democratic opposition and low poll numbers, he nonetheless raised the ante on Social Security last week. The President embraced “progressive indexing” of benefits, in the hope of breaking up the political logjam.

As a policy matter, this at least challenges Democrats to honor their own principles. For months they’ve been saying they really do want to do something about Social Security “solvency,” which means shoring up its inevitable financing shortfall. By adjusting the formula for future benefits based on income, Mr. Bush has now embraced the “fairness” claims that Democrats say they hold dear. So are they serious or not?

On first response, not. Democrats immediately opposed Mr. Bush’s proposal--the brainchild of Democratic financier Robert Pozen--as “big benefit cuts.” AARP lobbyist John Rother proved his organization’s lack of sincerity by calling it “an unnecessary and unfair benefit cut on the middle class.”

Sigh. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan and other Democrats once acknowledged, current policy increases real, inflation-adjusted benefits over time. That’s because benefits are tied to growth in wages, rather than to increases in prices (which rise somewhat more slowly). Though Democrats invoke FDR, this wasn’t his idea; guaranteed annual increases were introduced in 1972 as politicians of both parties competed for elderly votes. Reversing this blunder would still protect all seniors from inflation and also go a long way toward addressing Social Security’s financing shortfall.

But Mr. Bush is going further and proposing to keep wage-indexing for the bottom 30% of all workers, which means their benefits will actually increase by about 40% by the time they retire. Other workers would see more of their benefits price-indexed on a gradual basis as their income rose. And in any case, the indexing adjustment would apply only to the current program’s benefits; whatever higher returns workers get from private accounts would be theirs to keep. If Bill Clinton were the President proposing this, Democrats would be doing “fairness” cartwheels.

(thanks to Neal Boortz, Matt Drudge & James Taranto for the leads on these stories)

Luke, I Am Your …. Mother

One of the “progressive” blogs in the northwest called Blue Oregon seems to think Condaleeza Rice is some creepy dominatrix or is actually Darth Vader because of the sexy black outfit she wore in Germany today.

Au contraire, mes amis! We have proof of Darth Vader’s real identity ....

The Hildabeast In The News

Part One:

I have no doubt that over the past few days you’ve heard the Hildabeast was in the news proposing that a new law be passed allowing felons the right to vote.

Now ask yourselves this:  “Why is she doggedly pursuing this (under the guise of voting fairness) but is doing absolutely nothing to protect the rights of military men and women to have their absentee ballots counted?”

The answer should have hit you like a bolt of lightning:  “because felons are, for the most part, democrats!!!!”

People that profess to be Republicans/Conservatives do not go around breaking the law with the frequency that socialists/liberals do.  We tend to think that criminals should STAY in prison not be let out.  Democrats think all criminals can be rehabilitated and should be set free.

So in effect this will give the Dummycraps over 4.5 million possible new voters in the next election.  Are you surprised?  The party of the poor, dispossessed, repressed and oppressed now wants felons to vote which has a ripple effect meaning they’d vote only for people that would make it easier for felons to continue to be felons---people who’d pass laws outlawing guns, people who’d pass laws abolishing the death penalty, etc.

Oh, and did I mention this is an effort to position herself as a compassionate moderate” in preparation for running in ‘08?  Yeah, I thought I’d remind you.

Part Two:

The Hildabeast is in the news again----with John McCain no less! She was in Iraq (every time I read about another bomb attack my heart raced with anticipation, only to be let down every single time) sucking up and getting face time.  She’s “concerned” you know!!!!

Anyway, when I saw she was with that asshole, McCain, all I could think of was “Clinton/McCain in ‘08.  We crossed party lines for a better America!”

Look closely at the picture.  Is this who we want protecting and defending us in ‘08?

image

Part Three

The Hildabeast is in the news advocating a national holiday on election day. Of course, she does so under the guise election reform, much like her proposal above to allow felons to vote.  And this is supposed to make us like other “civilized” nations (like Iraq) that declare national holidays on election day.  And, of course, the “little people” will eat this up.  Hey, after all, it’s a holiday.  No work!  Fuck the employer!  Let’s stay home and get drunk.

Meanwhile, there is no empirical proof that Americans will go out in any greater numbers to vote.  Hell, they might tend to go in lower numbers as there are so many chores to catch up on and the media will find programming to put on to keep them at home in front of their boob tubes.

Meanwhile American productivity goes down as this means one less work day, possibly two if people “bridge” Monday and Tuesday.  Plus, we all know it takes a bit to gear up for work Monday after a weekend, right?  Now we’ll have to contend with doing that gearing up twice in one week.  More lost productivity!  Now, if she were to propose a change stating that elections would be held on Sundays and then declare a national holiday on that day, I might consider it.  Naturally, then we’d have to deal with the Christian right being all upset as it would interfere with church services because so many churches are used as voting places.  I am sure God would forgive those people for not attending one day out of 104.

Suffice it to say, this bitch is evil.  She does not have the interests of the United States at heart.  She is a conniving c**t interested only in her own self-advancement.

She bears considerable watching.

Almost…..Almost!!!

I was out in the yard weeding and transplanting with the radio on in the background.  Talk radio on, of course, when all of a sudden the regular transmission is cut off and the show interrupted by a “news” announcement.

“Word just in that at a speech today, Hillary Clinton collapsed and....(I’m thinking DIED!  Yes, God, let it be that!) fainted on stage.”

Now, follow me here.  If the Hildebeast had collapsed and died, that’d be reason to interrupt the program, right?  With applause, cheers, whoops, hollers, and other displays of mirth and merriment.

But the bitch just fainted!  And they had to interrupt my program for THAT?

Assholes!

Shrillary In The News

Recall that a couple of days ago, the Hildabeast attempted to cloak herself in “moderate conservatism” by speaking out AGAINST abortion.  Yep, the same “moderate” who is on record as approving of late term abortions.

Those of us with more than a couple of fully operational brain cells know full well that a leopard can not change its spots and that this is nothing more than the famous “triangulation” efforts her asshole, disgraced, worthless piece of crap husband often did while in office to deprive Republicans of issues.

Ben Shapiro put it nicely when he said:

Forgive me while I retch.  Hillary’s bald-faced attempts at manipulating the religious in this country are as transparent as her ambitions.  This is a woman who respects the religious like Charles Manson respected the rich.

Ben has more about Shrillary here.

Given the above “alleged” move, can we expect the Hildabeast to publicly come out and denounce this?

Hint: don’t hold your breath.

Moments When Life Is Good

This brought a nice smile to my face! Any time I hear something derogatory or bad about the Hildebeast I get happy.

The good news?  A GENERIC Republican candidate would clean the Hillarybeast’s clock right now.  Ain’t life sweet?

How about this? The country is now tilting Republican!  WOO-HOO!!

In Gallup’s latest poll this month, those identifying themselves as Republicans jumped to 37% of the public, with Democrats now clearly trailing with 32%.

In October those numbers were 37% Dummycraps to 34% Republicans.

To me that’s a 10% surge for the Red side and a whopping 13.5% drop on the Blue side.

Ahhh, yes, life is good!

Of course, the MSM could not just publish that.  Somehow they felt the need to discredit this good news by saying that “values” had little to do with the shift when they said this:

“contrary to many press reports, “values” ranked well behind the war in Iraq, terrorism and the economy as a prime concern of Americans.”

Fucking MSM!

Hildabeast Alert

This news story scares the shit out of me in more ways than I can tell you. In particular, this one statement in the article ....

“She’s not the caricature that people thought,” Carroll said. “She’s not a ‘60s lefty. She’s not a looney leftist and she works. She’s a reasonably centrist liberal.”

MY ASS! This woman is preparing her disguise for 2008. It’ll still be a liberal in a moderate’s clothing.

Update: yes, that’s Janet leigh from “Psycho”. I just had a Photoshop inspirational “moment”. Every time I think of Hitlary, I am reminded of the shower scene from Hitchcock’s classic. I have no idea what that means, psychologically speaking. No, really.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
