a daily mail comment, and not a pleasant one.

Caught this today .... hate to post it.

I understand similar happening in the USA as well.

Take a look at this.

Just think, a vomit/toilet culture has managed to do something that a superior Germany never achieved.

The answer may not be so easy but the solution is always here and handy.  The problem is that everyone who has a say in the decision has to worry about politics, world opinion, the euro-court and of course .... the lawyers on the left.

What the UK urgently needs is their own version of, the night of the long knives.

Security services should be making these vermin disappear.

so I guess white lives don’t matter … no white protesters anywhere burning anything

a joke for the jail time.

He’ll be out in three. And at some point it’ll all be the victim’s fault.

Anybody here ready to believe he doesn’t have a criminal record?  I didn’t see it in the article, but would be willing to bet he’d been done for this sort of thing before but got lucky no deaths.

scum!

You took two lives, not one’: What judge told drugged driver who killed dancer and her unborn child after ploughing into her at 70mph

Paige Jackson, 22, was 28 weeks pregnant when she was hit by the car

Was killed instantly and emergency caesarean section failed to save baby

Floyd Mangove, 22, pleaded guilty to cause death by dangerous driving

He was sentenced to seven years in prison at Leicester Crown Court

By Andy Dolan for the Daily Mail

A dancer and her unborn baby were killed when a drug-fuelled driver mounted a kerb in his car, flew through the air and ploughed into them at more than 70mph.

Paige Jackson, 22, who was seven months pregnant with her first child, died instantly after being hit by the Volkswagen, which took off and spun 360 degrees after crashing into a sign in a 30mph zone.

Floyd Mangove – who had been drinking and smoking cannabis – has now been jailed for seven-and-a-half years, with victims’ relatives applauding the judge as he said: ‘I’m treating it as the death of more than one person.’

The 22-year-old, who had danced professionally and aspired to be a model, was killed shortly after setting off from home to walk to McDonald’s, where she was working extra shifts to earn cash in preparation for the birth.

Care worker Mangove, 22, who had climbed behind the wheel that February morning after a ‘rough night’, failed to negotiate a gentle right-hand bend before ploughing into the road sign.Martin Hurst, prosecuting, said: ‘His wheels locked and he mounted the pavement, demolishing a road sign with two upright posts which acted as a ramp, causing the car to take off and rotate 360 degrees, landing on its wheels.

‘In the course of the flight he struck Paige from behind, causing massive injuries to her head, abdomen and leg.’

He said the baby, who would otherwise have been born normally, died despite doctors’ best efforts. Mangove was arrested at the scene and found to have 142 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 micrograms.

He had been smoking cannabis. CCTV showed Mangove, from Leicester, was driving at between 71mph and 88mph in the build-up to the crash in the suburb of Aylestone.

here we go again.  theirrrrrr baaaaaack.

Well gosh isn’t this a surprise.

Here we go again, and more than likely many of the same who were active the last time are at it again now.

See what happens when they are left alive and breathing?  They come back. Again and again.  Just as I have said they will. But then, you knew that also. Too bad the authorities haven’t cottoned on to the fact that killing these scum would solve the problem. And don’t use Syria or Libya as examples, cos those folks think dying make em something special.
But if you’re dealing with the likes of these scum, killing a few hundred (in the most painful manner possible) really would frighten the face covered vermin.  In the middle east they always expect to die anyway and most don’t have a cushy life to live.
But these asswipes do. These folks not only don’t expect to die, they doubt they’ll even get more than a minor boo-boo and a slap on the wrist.

Look at the bastard about to smash that window behind which are two women bothering nobody and having nothing to do with whatever (false) protest these shits are wailing over. Look at him. Does anyone think he cares about the possible outcome?

Now, cut his hands off, both of them, and he won’t be trying that again.

Six people have been arrested after protestors on a student demonstration charged the headquarters of the Tory party in central London.

Armed with a large wheelie bin, a group charged towards police who were guarding the entrance of the building, which is near Parliament Square.

Officers forced them back and pushed people away, before more protestors tried to force their way in. Two people, a man and a woman, were arrested at the scene for affray, officers said. Two others were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. One protestor was arrested for criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon, while a sixth person was arrested for violent disorder.

Thousands of students have been marching through central London in protest against tuition fees and debt.

‘Various missiles were thrown at the officers and protestors pulled down protective fencing around the grass area in Parliament Square. A large group of protestors walked onto and have occupied the grass area. The officers withdrew from the area. Three officers suffered minor injuries.’

A breakaway group later attacked a nearby Starbucks coffee shop and threw chairs from another restaurant at police, witnesses said.

Protestors chanted ‘one solution: revolution’ and taunted police by shouting ‘there are many, many more of us than you’ at police.

nearly there

Just another day or two and my family situation will be finished. I’ve been at the relation’s for nearly a week now, helping out. Things are looking much better, so maybe, just maybe, I can get out of here tomorrow.

Oy, the stories I could tell.

a national food policy?

Shades of Stalin!

How we produce and consume food has a bigger impact on Americans’ well-being than any other human activity. The food industry is the largest sector of our economy; food touches everything from our health to the environment, climate change, economic inequality and the federal budget. Yet we have no food policy — no plan or agreed-upon principles — for managing American agriculture or the food system as a whole.

That must change.

I’d have to disagree. Why we allow people who think like this to continue drawing breath? THAT must change. Leave us alone!

If you like what ObamaCare is doing for health insurance, you will love what a federal program to control what we eat does for food, as it takes into account “the environment, climate change, economic inequality” et cetera ad nauseam.

A federal stranglehold on how food is produced, distributed, and consumed will allegedly guarantee the following:

● All Americans have access to healthful food;
● Farm policies are designed to support our public health and environmental objectives;
● Our food supply is free of toxic bacteria, chemicals and drugs;
● Production and marketing of our food are done transparently;
● The food industry pays a fair wage to those it employs;
● Food marketing sets children up for healthful lives by instilling in them a habit of eating real food;
● Animals are treated with compassion and attention to their well-being;
● The food system’s carbon footprint is reduced, and the amount of carbon sequestered on farmland is increased;
● The food system is sufficiently resilient to withstand the effects of climate change.

In this time of illegal immigration I think first we have to define ‘All Americans’. And what is this ‘our public health and evironmental objectives’? Define ‘toxic’? I don’t see people keeling over dead-right-there (DRT) from bad stuff in the food. As for the production of our food, it is already transparent. Anybody can take a tour of a slaughter house or processing center. I just bought 1/4 of a cow. 170# of various cuts, hamburger, tongue, liver, etc. I’ve taken two tours of the farm. I’ve been behind the scenes at the local butcher’s. I’ve been to pig farms, chicken farms. It’s already transparent. All you have to do is request a tour and go. As for the marketing? By definition that’s transparent. You see it on TV, you hear it on radio.

Food industry already pays a fair wage.

“…a habit of eating real food.” I’m certain I’ve never eaten imaginary food. Last time I saw that trick was in the movie ‘Hook’.

Animals are already treated with compassion.

Carbon footprint? I still can’t get anyone to show me a ‘carbon footprint.’

Climate has always changed. The ‘food system’ — whatever that means — has always survived.

This has been tried before, and it worked wonderfully, according to Walter Duranty of the New York Times. Joseph Stalin used it suppress resistance to collectivization in the Ukraine. This was called the Holodomor.

Only those with a vested interest in the status quo would argue against creating public policies with these goals.

If you like going to the supermarket and seeing the shelves covered in food that you want to eat at a price you can afford, you have a vested interest in the status quo. If you want to stand in line for a bowl of gluten-free government gruel, don’t bother putting up any resistance to endlessly encroaching liberalism.

a disciplinary hearing for promoting the politically incorrect.  male/female marriage

An elderly man of 71 has been doing his charity bit, by being a res cross volunteer for many years.  Over 20 years, he became a senior volunteer and when he started, political correctness had yet to raise it’s scummy head.  But times have changed of course, and one must be cautious of holding unpopular opinions and worse yet, demonstrating with a sign that openly opposes same sex marriage.
Such was exactly this fellows transgression.

He has been made unwelcome by the charity because in their view, his (view) is no longer compatible with those of the red cross.
His sign said, “No Same Sex Marriage” and “No redefinition of marriage.”

Well .... we can’t have that sort of thing now, can we?

So the charity let him go.  And it wasn’t as if he was protesting on the steps or wearing anything to ID him as a red cross volunteer.
His attitude is just not in keeping with these more up to date, corrupt and brainless times.

Red Cross volunteer, 71, axed over gay marriage protest: Pensioner told he is no longer welcome at charity because his views are incompatible with its values

Bryan Barkley held the one-man protest outside Wakefield Cathedral
Stood by himself and held up a placard which read ‘No same sex marriage’
Has now been dismissed from the British Red Cross due to the protest
Was told he was no longer welcome as his views are incompatible with its values

By Andrew Pierce and Eleanor Harding for the Daily Mail

A volunteer has been dismissed from the British Red Cross for protesting against gay marriage.

Bryan Barkley, 71, was told he is no longer welcome at the charity because his views are incompatible with its values.

The church-going pensioner received his dismissal letter after holding a one-man protest outside his local cathedral.

He held up a placard saying ‘No same sex marriage’ and ‘No redefinition of marriage’.

Yesterday his supporters said the charity’s action was shocking and it was punishing volunteers for their thoughts and views.

Mr Barkley, who has worked for 20 years as a senior Red Cross volunteer, is appealing against his dismissal which he calls ‘unfair and without justification’.

The grandfather, who has been married for 42 years, joined the organisation after taking early retirement from his job as a civil engineer and had recently represented it at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

He said yesterday: ‘What have I done wrong? I passionately believe that the institution of marriage is between a man and a woman and is the cornerstone of our society. Why is it wrong to say so in public?

‘Freedom of expression is being stifled in this country. I have nothing against homosexuals. But I don’t believe Parliament was representing the views of the people when it changed the definition of marriage.’

Mr Barkley, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, worked for the charity’s international tracing service helping reunite families in Britain with relatives in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He staged his protest outside Wakefield Cathedral in March.

It was reported in the local press and Pink News but his link to the Red Cross was not mentioned.

However, in May he received a letter from Andy Peers, director of operations for the charity in Yorkshire, summoning him to a disciplinary hearing.

can no longer say, you could not make it up, cos you could. nothings off limits anymore

This is just one of the things wrong with our modern world.

You could, these days, envision it happening and make it up and it would turn out to be true.

There is nothing anymore, that is too bizarre.  Nothing.
And here is one heck of a good example of the stupidity and political correctness that some people have taken on.

I can no longer say you could not make it up, cos you most certainly can. And you’d no doubt be right.

Ordeal of OAP who quipped ‘I’m not Muslim’ at airport security after he was stopped: Man spends six months facing racism charges before case is finally dropped

· Paul Griffith was stopped at Stansted airport on his way to Malaga
· The 75-year-old was asked to take his shoes off before he made the remark
· Airport staff called police and on his return from Spain he was arrested
· But 24 hours before appearing in court the CPS dropped all charges

By Daily Mail Reporter

A pensioner who said ‘I’m not Muslim’ when he was asked to remove his shoes at airport security has spent more than six months facing charges for racism.
Paul Griffith, 75, pictured, set off the security scanner’s alarm at Stansted airport when travelling to Malaga for a week’s holiday.

He removed his shoes as requested, but said: ‘I am not Muslim am I?’

A security guard accused him of racism and called the police, saying he was upset by the remark.

‘One minute I am queuing up to get on a plane and the next I am confronted by two armed policemen.

‘They said I had used racist language and took me to an office in the terminal,’ Mr Griffith said yesterday.

Mr Griffith was allowed to go on his trip but was arrested when he returned. He was charged with causing ‘racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress’.

‘When I got back I had to wait six hours before they interviewed me again, arrested me and said that was being charged with causing racially aggravated harassment.

‘I was photographed, had my finger prints taken and they also took a DNA swab from my mouth. ‘Then they said I would have to go to my local police station.

When I went to Colchester police station I was told I had been charged with an offence under the Crime and Disorder Act but that I could accept a caution instead.

‘I refused to do that - I had done nothing wrong and I wasn’t going to admit to a criminal charge if I wasn’t guilty of any crime.’

a night at the opera, but it isn’t the marx bros. veiled woman told to remove or leave

There are some things the French do get right, in the face of lefty opposition every step of the way.

Brit authorities might never be able to follow, due to the strangle hold the left has on these matters.
They make everything a race issue with their habit of attaching “phobic” to words thus shutting down all argument. It’s phobic or else an ism.

Meanwhile, on the negative side of French thinking, their courts have fined former actress and goddess Bridget Bardot more than once and not for small sums either, for her criticism of the homosexual lobby and the lifestyle itself, and also for her criticism of that oh so peaceful religion and its followers.
She was even fined for her criticism in a book she wrote warning about uncontrolled immigration especially by muslims.  So the French don’t always have things right.
In this case .... they do.  But it may be too late for the French and for Europe as well.

I have been to Heathrow Airport, London dear reader.  And mostly, the people I saw were more than likely legals. It’s their numbers that are staggering. But wait. I mustn’t say that cos it’s .... you know.  And what I see there is only the very tip of the berg. And anyway, I’m also guilty of scare mongering for telling ppl what I have seen for myself and what I continue to see.

Woman is thrown out of Paris opera after cast refused to perform unless she removed Muslim veil

· Cast ‘objected strongly’ to woman in the audience wearing a niqab-type veil
· Security guard asked her to either uncover her face or leave
· Ban on covering the face in public in France was introduction in 2011
· The incident has divided opinion in the city’s liberal arts community
By Peter Allen

France’s Socialist government today pledged to toughen up its anti face-covering law after a veiled Muslim woman was ejected from a major Paris opera house.

In an incident which has divided opinion in the city’s liberal arts community, cast members performing La Traviata ‘objected strongly’ to the presence of a woman in the audience wearing a niqab-type veil.

‘A singer spotted her in the front row during the second act,’ said Jean-Philippe Thiellay, director of the Bastille Opera, which was opened by Socialist president Francois Mitterand in 1989.

‘Some performers said they didn’t want to sing,’ said Mr Thiellay, who confirmed that she was kicked out.

There has been a ban on Muslims covering their face in public in France since the introduction of a law in 2011.

Women living on housing estates on the outskirts of major cities like Paris are regularly criminalised with a fine, but this is the first incident of someone being ejected from an artistic venue.

So far unnamed, she is believed to be a well-off woman from a Gulf State, and was attending the performance with a friend.

Referring to a security guard, Mr Thiellay said: ‘He told her that in France there is a ban of this nature, asked her to either uncover her face or leave the auditorium.

‘The man asked the woman to get up, they left. It was unpleasant getting her to leave.

‘But there was a misunderstanding of the law and the lady either had to respect it or leave,’

From the dept. of,

Gimma a break.

According to Apple, and yeah; I know many folks who automatically won’t believe what major corporations tell us cos yes, they do so exaggerate, and do it often.
But Apple says passwords were stolen and they are still looking into how all those ‘neked’ photos found their way onto the net.
Crime of the century.

You think not?

This lady will not agree with you.
She says anyone who even searches the net in hopes of finding any of the now infamous pix, is “committing a sex crime.”
I kid you not.

So .... I thought I would help things along with this photo of our good looking lady movie star. Yum. Whoops. Am I allowed to say that?

‘It is a sex crime’: Jennifer Lawrence speaks out for the first time about nude photo leak to Vanity Fair

By JENNIFER PEARSON FOR MAILONLINE

Jennifer Lawrence is making no apologies about keeping naked pictures of herself on her computer.

But the 24-year-old actress is hitting back at the hackers who stole the provocative shots in Vanity Fair’s November issue.

Jennifer spoke about the incident for the first time by calling the photo theft ‘a sex crime.’

‘It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime,’ she told the publication. ‘It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change.’

Jennifer has spoken out about how the law should be changed so those responsible for the violation of privacy should be prosecuted like sex offenders.

She has said anyone who viewed the pictures should ‘cower with shame’.

The Hunger Games star indicated that she took nude selfies for her boyfriend at the time and although she didn’t name him in the interview the special someone is believed to be actor Nicholas Hoult.

‘I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years,’ she told the magazine. ‘It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.’

Then the unthinkable happened: hackers broke into her iCloud and posted the photos online on August 31.

At first, Jennifer was brought to tears.

‘I was just so afraid. I didn’t know how this would affect my career,’ Jennifer described her initial reaction to the news.

‘Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this,’ she said.

‘It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world.’

‘Even people who I know and love say, “Oh, yeah, I looked at the pictures.” I don’t want to get mad, but at the same time I’m thinking, I didn’t tell you that you could look at my naked body.’

Another big consequence was that Miss Lawrence had to tell her father Gary, a construction worker, that naked images of her were being viewed by millions of people online.

Miss Lawrence said he took the news far better than she expected.

She said: ‘I don’t care how much money I get for The Hunger Games, I promise you, anybody given the choice of that kind of money or having to make a phone call to tell your dad that something like that has happened, it’s not worth it.’

Unedited version is here

I have not been fortunate enuff to see what it is she’s talking about.

Are we talking about porn?
Or just some nude photos?

a night at home, yay

I get to sleep in my own bed tonight, woo hoo.

And after a medical appointment of my own tomorrow, I’ll head back up there.

The family health situation is much better, but still not completely out of the woods yet. So more hospital visiting and home preparing on my part will be on the duty roster the next few days. But hey, bowling Friday, so I get the weekend off. I hope.

Meanwhile, I’m having a nice gin & tonic, then getting some sleep.

Amazon issues totally stupid warning to buyers about racist tom and jerry animated cartoons

The world we live in today is populated by far more idiots than ever before.

Is that due to a greater world population?

Or is it due to far too many people with far too much time to look for things that are not there?

For certain it is due in large measure to an increase in the world’s population of,
left wing, do good (for their egos) ppl who think they are liberals, and are happy to tell the rest of us how to lead our lives and even how we should all think. Or what we ought to find funny and not so funny.

I’m disappointed in Amazon that they found it necessary to add a warning of race-ism, attached to a Tom & Jerry cartoon.  Apologize, apologize, apologize.

Gee, I guess I missed it when I was young and the message went over my head.

I never saw the race issue, never saw the cartoon thinking any less or thinking at all, about Negroes, as they were correctly known in those ancient times.

But the fact of the matter is, if the black cartoon character was portrayed as a stereotype, it’s honestly because in large measure there were many maids and servants of that day, who did speak and act in ways that set them apart as a group.  The many Eastern European Jews who came to the USA spoke with a funny accent, and there was a radio and later TV series based on a character called Molly Goldberg. And those folks also were a recognizable group.  There is no way I can write the way the Goldbergs spoke, but it was aways embarrassing.  So I guess I can understand some black folks being embarrassed and even offended by the way their people were portrayed.  But over time, things got to a politically correct point where simply having fun with a weird accent or stereotype automatically became a hateful thing.  And so some things became .... Isms. Nowadays we have all sorts of things invented by the left and they all carry an ism.
Whatever the left doesn’t want to see and hear or have anyone else see and hear and worse yet approve of, they simply attach an “ism” to it and it become something unacceptable and even carries the force of law in some places.

Tom and Jerry racist? No, the real bigots are those who want to rewrite history, writes sociology professor FRANK FUREDI

By Professor Frank Furedi For The Daily Mail

For more than 70 years, their cat-and-mouse capers have enthralled young people across the globe. Violent, hilarious and often somehow poignant, Tom and Jerry’s only crime has until now been to encourage children to watch tele-vision when they should have been doing their homework, tidying their bedrooms or performing some other worthwhile task.

This week, however, they fell foul of the censors at Amazon, which seems to have taken its lead from Cromwell’s Puritans. The company says Tom and Jerry cartoons must carry a warning that ‘they contain some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American society’.

The particular focus of Amazon’s reproach is the portrayal of the black maid in the cartoons, known as Mammy Two Shoes because only her lower half ever appears on the screen. Her character, apparently, is nothing more a crude racial stereotype. ‘Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today,’ states Amazon.

There are those who have applauded the online retailer’s stance. Dr Birgitta Hosea, director of the animation master’s course at the University of the Arts in London, says: ‘Images like that are not OK. Children are at stake here. It is important that they get positive images of people and not just negative, “mammy” stereotypes of black women.’

Poor old Tom and Jerry. All they were trying to do was entertain us, but now the thought police have decided to impose their modern-day values on cartoons made decades ago.

On the surface, perhaps, this is a trivial affair. Why should Amazon not warn viewers that they may be offended by the depiction of Mammy Two Shoes? After all, she is the archetype of a black woman working for a white family from the southern U.S. in the mid-20th century, when such women did not have the vote.

Well, there are a number of reasons in my view.

To begin with, it is deeply patronising to suggest that modern-day families do not understand that they are watching historical cartoons, made when values were different. Are the censors really suggesting that, by watching Tom and Jerry, our children will turn out racist, believing that ‘Mammy Two Shoes’ is the norm?

image

More importantly, however, this is a worrying new example of the way history is being re-written by politically-correct know-alls who are so blinkered that they can only see things from their own perspective — which is, of course, a modern-day perspective. It is as if they are writing history back-to-front, imposing their own moral views on the past.

These people pose as the champions of children, arguing that by issuing their warnings of racism, they are offering them protection from encountering it.

But it’s hard not to believe that their real motive is to parade their own piety.

ok then … schools should also serve the kids kosher food too. except that,

Except that, contrary to what many believe, very many Jews do in fact eat pork and everything else many ppl think they don’t consume.
Anyway ... it is interesting that so far .... the Jewish population here and the USA who are religiously conservative, and the orthodox (who I have no patience for and find them an embarrassment) none of them has to my knowledge demanded kosher food in schools.  Haven’t heard of any demand from Hindus either.
Seems muslims and especially the idiot converts with less brains than god gave a tennis ball, they complain. They insist. They demand.

Why the heck can’t they go to a strict muslim country and wallow all they want in their faith.

You just have to feel sorry for the kids here. Look how young they are.

image

What the heck is it with so many western women, and what especially is it with western white women, that they gravitate to this insanity.
I just can’t get my head around that.
This woman is still living here. Wonder what her attitude might be if she were living in a muslim country.
OK, so you take youngsters like this, get em well and truly brainwashed, maybe raise the perfect suicide killer. Perfect cos a blond light skinned person could conceivably pass for .... one of us.

Muslim family sends children to school with ‘Halal only’ stickers taped across their chest after daughter is served up non-Halal food

Henna Khan has sent her three children to school with ‘Halal only’ badges
She took action after Woodside Academy in Bradford kept serving non-Halal
The mother, 29, said the homemade badges on their uniforms are a ‘protest’
Woodside Academy apologised and said an investigation had been launched

By Emma Glanfield

Three Muslim children have been sent to school with ‘Halal only’ badges taped to their uniforms after one of them was served non-Halal food in the canteen on ‘eight or nine occasions’.

Khadija Khan, five, has been given non-Halal food by staff at Woodside Academy in Bradford, West Yorkshire, numerous times despite her parents writing to the school to express their beliefs.

Her mother, Henna Khan, 29, has now decided to take matters into her own hands and said she has taped the stickers to her children’s uniforms in ‘protest’.

The family also complained to Bradford Council, who sent a letter informing them that staff would be given Halal awareness training.

i hasta go now

I have to go help out family for a few days. Will be back Monday, but may be gone again from Tuesday. fun fun fun.

We did manage to win all 7 points at Fun League last night. Two guys on our opponents team were former teammates from years ago on Greed League, so that brought out my competitiveness. After being in a bit of a slump the past couple of weeks, I rolled a 222 in the first game, against Joe’s 225. He got me, but my paper average is now quite a bit lower than his, and with help from my current team and our massive 4 pin handicap, we managed a win. I threw something a bit above average in the second game, and we won that one too. And then the beer started flowing. By the third game we were all laughing and hanging out having fun, hardly bothering to bowl. But I pulled a 202 out of somewhere, and we took that one by 57 pins. Overall I threw a 599, just missing the 600 mark. Good enough. Came home, had something to eat, went to bed.

Raining and miserable here today. Eww ick.

on a personal note

You’ve all heard of computer hell week I suppose. Or maybe not since I just made the term up. Actually, I’ve had it all in one or two days.
Grumble.

Worst part was trying to get thru to tech ppl I pay for and hardly ever have to use, but can’t get beyond their damn recording giving me options my call has nothing to do with. Then when I do get someone, it’s a call center in India and whatever language they are speaking, it ain’t ringlesh.  Rats.

Hey ... has anyone else been reading about Windows 10 yet?  Interesting stuff. I guess MSFT is going to undo a few of the things they thought ppl would love in Windows 8 but few did.  Anyway .... for awhile I thought I might be getting a new puter but .... you know the old expression about the best laid plans of etc, etc.
In two weeks time we are having new windows fitted for the front of the house.  The rest will be done next year, probably in the spring. Anyway ... it’s been a long time in coming.  The windows, all installed in 1923 or 24, are only being held together by paint and rust.  Old rusted iron, single glazed and a few have developed cracks that started last winter and continue even now.  So anyway, we can only do things in stages and the work isn’t being done for cosmetics I can assure you. Altho of course things will look better.  Then the house is in desperate need of painting and I figure it could take another year at least before I can find a pro to do the work.  Oh, it isn’t that I can’t find one. I can do that okay.
The problem is that nobody wants to work. No really they don’t.

We had one fellow last year for example, who worked on a neighbor’s house, and we hired him for some work here which he did quite well.
Later on, just a few months in fact, he had to come back to the neighbor for some repair or I whatever, and I asked him for an estimate to paint the entire house. I don’t think it’s been done since 1970 or thereabouts.

So he said he’d come on over as soon as he was through next door.  But he never did.
I happened to see him at our local market two weeks ago.  Said hello, exchanged a comment or two about the weather, and I asked him if he had time to stop by and take a look at the house as it needs painting.  Oh sure he says.  I can stop by Monday or Tues. evening when I finish up another job. Great.

Haven’t heard a word.  And he’s at least the third house painter, (they are called decorators here, I suppose that’s what they do after all) anyway, the 3rd I’ve spoken to and it’s like pullin’ teeth to get folks to take your money.  When you find someone who shows up on time and who arrives when they say they will, it is cause for celebrating.
And heck ... when one even shows up earlier than expected why ..... you want to marry them provided they’re the right gender.

No kidding.  You have no idea how difficult it is.  They take the time to advertise their services but when you call and leave your number after listening to a recording .... you’re never certain of a call back and with good reason.  It’s because they hardly ever do.

So now back to the really important things in life.  Computers and tech support and my reason for calling tech support.
About 10 days ago when they were fixing something for me, I mentioned in passing that I was thinking of upgrading to Windows 7.
So, the guy I was talking to volunteered the information that I could call on them and they would walk me thru an installation.  Hey, pretty good I guess. I could call Drew but something tells me he wouldn’t be available at a time convenient to me. Oh yeah.  And he wouldn’t like getting a tech help call at 2 in the morning.
Sheesh ... some folks.

My call to my paid for tech service was to ask a question which it didn’t occur to me to ask at the time I spoke to them a week ago.
I’m curious to know if their help was a clean install.  I have read that OS can be installed over the old one, but that a clean install is better
So I’m still trying to fight the answering loop system to get thru.
It’s hopeless.
And I won’t get started on what I think of my ISPs customer service, or I’d be here all night and the air would turn very blue.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
