Apologies for lack of posts last 24 hours or so.  Been AWOL.

Off all day yesterday, not off as in vacation, but didn’t post for which I feel guilty.

Busy with project and trying to do things around here before some really hot and humid weather sets in.  This old place takes a lot of time and care and because it’s so old and has so much wrong with it, there just isn’t any way that we can spend a lot of money on it.  Which means things get patched a lot and repainted and rust sanded and wire brushed etc. At my age, I find I can’t do as much as I did at say 30 or 40. Have to take breaks.  Not used to that.  More used to starting and finishing and working through meals etc. but then ouch. Suddenly find the ole back gets a mite stiff.  Break for a beer right? Then fall asleep.

No-one who one day might buy this place will be buying it for the house. It’s the property that has the value. We hope.  Prices have slid this past year. Anyway, we can’t even consider selling for another year.  Homesik I may be but, based on everything I’ve been reading when time allows, and with the shoe in appointment of that supreme nominee well, do I really wanna return? 

Ever have one of those where am I days weeks?

I’m reminded of an old (a very old) Red Buttons song. “Strange things are happening.”
Maybe not strange exactly but more like a pinball on tilt.

Apologies to friend Drew for dumping extra stuff for him to do while I nurse a bout of exhausted, a miserable case of embarrassing IB and a damn cough (yeah, again) that the docs here won’t give me the codeine for which will stop the damn thing. I can set a clock by it. Anywhere between 2:30 and 2:39 in the morning. Cough,cough and then try and get back to sleep again.  Seeing another doc on June 5th, that was the soonest I could get when I called in last week. Something tells me its no more then a very weird sinus drip, but so far I can’t seem to find anything to dry it up. Even that over the counter stuff that advertises itself as doing that.  It doesn’t.  I’ve found a number of other things here that don’t work but I’ll save that for later.
In fact, I’m gonna post what I have here, and the rest will be posted tomorrow.  Oh yeah there’s more. There’s always more.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:

1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
