double stupid

Sean Penn’s secret Rolling Stone interview with El Chapo helped Mexican authorities discover the notorious drug lord

Actor Sean Penn did what the Mexican authorities never could — find Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman.

But the notorious drug lord’s willingness to chat with Penn for a story in Rolling Stone magazine ultimately led to his capture — and sparked an investigation into the Hollywood actor, a Mexican law enforcement official said Saturday.

The surreal revelations came a day after Guzman was arrested in a motel six months after he escaped from a maximum security prison.

While on the run from Mexican troops, Guzman spent seven hours meeting with Penn in person.

The unlikely pair even sipped tequila together and snapped a photo as Penn interviewed Guzman at his remote hideout for Rolling Stone, which published a story about the experience Saturday.
...
To reach the ruthless Sinaloa cartel leader’s hideout, Penn and Del Castillo traveled more than 26 hours, taking two flights and riding in a two-truck convoy deep in the mountainous jungle.
...
A Mexican law enforcement official said Saturday that it was the Penn interview that led authorities to Guzman’s hideout in a rural part of Durango state — tightening the noose around El Chapo.

Even after Guzman managed to elude authorities, he continued the interview by BlackBerry Messenger and even shot a video that was delivered to the actor by courier.
...
Mexican Attorney General Arely Gomez said Guzman’s desire to turn his story into a biopic helped lead investigators to his secret home in the Mexican seaside city of Los Mochis.

“He established communication with actresses and producers, which became a new line of investigation,” Gomez said.

Penn and del Castillo were placed under investigation by the Mexican authorities following the meeting, a source told ABC News.

I figure right about now the greasy little killer is waking up in his jail cell - Mexican brainiacs put him back in the exact same prison he escaped from, duh - and going “Hey. HEY!! Wait a second, wait a second!!!” as he finally figures out how he was duped. My advice to Sean is to get back to Haiti real quick and hide out in one of those tent cities he built.

migrant rape fears spread across europe, and pc norway has the answer

Migrants have taunted police in Germany ... telling the cops,

“Merkel invited us here”

image

Katie Hopkins is a very outspoken woman, calls em as she sees em, which of course has made her a target of the left.
There is a ton of info at the link with pix and videos.

There are reports that the train station in Cologne has been used as an open air toilet by the scum. Pools of vomit and threats being made by the migrant menace. Police chief in Cologne has been canned amid charges of a cover up, trying to play down what happened.  How could they even think in those terms when the actions of these sub humans took in such numbers?

I hope readers here will use the link below.  And there is so much more.
People are quite rightly worried and angry as well.  But there isn’t much hope.  There really isn’t. Not while the left has this strangle hold.
And btw, the bleeding hearts are helped by stupid looking women (see link) who actually think that somehow holding up a sign with a heart and a request for peace and love and “nice sex”.  The mindset of many of these loony tunes is as much a threat, as the sub species they are trying to make a connection with.

The Green Party in Cologne, heavily pro-immigration, warned that new Facebook groups were springing up specifically to spread hatred of asylum seekers.
Not exactly true. It has never occurred to the gweens and others like them, that the actions taken by the invaders bring that hate upon themselves.

Vienna’s police chief advises women not to go out on the streets alone

Cologne police chief Wolfgang Albers relieved of his duties over handling of New Year’s Eve sex attacks

Security authorities are growing increasingly concerned by the rising number of sex attacks by gangs of migrants which appear to be spreading across Europe.

Finland and Sweden today became the latest European countries to issue warnings to women to be wary of the threat of sex attacks following fresh reports of sexual assaults in the last week, while the Viennese police chief adviced women not to go outside alone in Vienna.

The warnings come as reports emerged that Austrian and German police tried to cover-up the issue over fears of reprisal attacks on asylum seekers and damage to the countries’ tourist trade.

Dozens of arrests have been made today in connection with the wave of recent sex attacks across Europe.

Concerns remain that many of the men involved in the sickening assaults are still at large despite the best efforts by the police.

source, the worst is yet to come

Apparently, it isn’t exactly a crime. Well, it sort of is but ya see, the invading scum only made a mistake.

What do you make of this?

NORWAY OFFERS MIGRANTS COURSES IN RESPECTING WOMEN

Norway is offering asylum seekers courses in how to interpret morals in a country that may seem astonishingly liberal to them.

It is hoped the course in help prevent violence against women.

Questions are also being raised about how to integrate men from patriarchal societies into Europe, where women dress skimpily, drink alcohol and party.

‘Our aim is to help asylum seekers avoid mistakes as they discover Norwegian culture,’ explained Linda Hagen of Hero, a private company that runs 40 percent of Norway’s reception centres for asylum seekers.

‘There’s no single cultural code to say what is good or bad behaviour because we want a free society,’ she said.

‘There has to be tolerance for attitudes that may be seen as immoral by some traditional or religious norms.’

And finally, the best saved for last. UnF*****g believable. But then, this is that idiot Merkel for ya.
Feast your eyeballs on this.

From Frau Merkel herself.

Responding to the reports of sexual assaults (among a lot of other criminal activity) Merkel promised strong action and said.

“We must also speak again about the cultural fundamentals of our co-existence”.

must go tippy toe when speaking of the unspeakable vermin invaders

Wherever they land, they bring problems.  And the folks who must confront and deal with them, must tread oh so carefully.
Notice the language used here.
“unpleasant situations”. You bet.

Immigrants. Invaders. Trash with feet.

The story is a bit dated I confess.  It’s from late December but it still tells a tale.

Italy’s Museion Bozen-Bolzano Museum turns off free wifi for attracting migrants

GERMAN PRESS AGENCY - DPA
ROME

A contemporary art museum in northern Italy has turned off its free wifi because the service was attracting too many migrants.

The Museion in Bolzano/Bozen, the provincial capital of the German-speaking region of South Tyrol, has faced criticism from intellectuals and left-wing politicians, while right-wingers have applauded its move.

“I stand by this decision, which I find legitimate,” Museion Director Letizia Ragaglia told dpa.

Migrants, who rely on social networks to get in touch with friends and family, started going to the museum in April and were initially welcomed, but “the situation got a bit out of hand” in December, with a series of “unpleasant situations,” Ragaglia said.

Mistaking the museum for a shelter, people started sleeping on the premises and using its toilets for their personal hygiene, the director said.

Ragaglia asked authorities to provide an alternative centre for migrants, or increase police presence at the site, but after such requests went unheeded, she said she was forced to take other actions.

She stressed that wifi services were suspended “temporarily” from December 23, to limit the chance that the reduced number of staff working during the holiday period will have to deal with more unpleasant situations.

From January 7 onwards, free wifi will be restricted to a specific area of the museum, or a password may be introduced, but “we will give it to anyone who asks, obviously,” Ragaglia said.

Bolzano/Bozen is a stopping point for migrants seeking to travel on to Austria and Germany via train.

the mermaid

The world may be advancing thanks to a handful of very tech savvy people, but it sure seems to have lost other things along the way to this bright new world.

Like common sense.

Political correctness has become a fixture to a degree where too many are practicing it as a religion.

University students have caused a bit of a stir, by taking PC even further into never, never land.  “Safe Zones” for example, where nothing can be displayed or spoken that might in any way upset or offend someone. A place where, “never is heard a discouraging word, and the skies are not cloudy all day”.  The idea that past figures for whom statues have been in place for a 100 years, they want taken down if that person made their fortune through or engaged in, slavery in any way. Or had anything to do with empire and colonialism.  In other words, if they can’t rewrite history, they want to erase it.  Currently it’s Cecil Rhodes who is in their narrow sights.  I’m waiting for them to target the statue of old Honest Abe the Brits erected so long ago, who in a speech once opined that blacks could never be the equals of whites, nor should marriages between the races be allowed. He had a few other un-pc words on the subject that today, were he alive, he’d be tarred and feathered and disbarred from office.

But maybe those brainless twits are only vaguely aware of Lincoln due to that famous address he gave.  You know.  Friends Romans Countrymen …. I came here to bury this guy.

So anyway … what brought this on was something I read the other day.

Had to read it 2wice to make sure I actually saw what I think I read.

Yup … here tiz.  Glommed it from iNews.

ginger overload

Yeah, one of these days we’re going to have to finish staining the wood trim and then remove the shipping tape from the glass. It’s only been a couple of years so far.

Anyway, Ginger, Baby Ginger, and Harry all stopped by for breakfast. 3 generations of brothers.  The wind yesterday made a mess of the patio, blowing everything over.

mayor says women should be ‘better prepared’ for such incidents. or what? cover up?

Most papers are on this story in one way or another.

It was just a simple matter of time.  Now we’ll wait and see where the real patriots are.
Don’t expect much though as already the weepy eyed, bed wetting bleeding hearts are showing themselves making excuses.

So far, unfortunately, no invaders have been deleted or even attacked by anyone.

One of the invader complaints heard was, that German girls out that night were dressed “inappropriately”.

Yeah ... another generation and they’ll all be covered up.

Teenage victim of Cologne ‘African and Arab’ sex mob reveals how she and her friends were surrounded by 30 men and groped as officials admit the city is a ‘no-go’ area for women

Michelle, a German 18-year-old, has described being groped by attackers
She is one of at least 90 women who were assaulted in Cologne last week
Attackers were described as looking like they were ‘Arab or North African’
Cologne town centre has been called a ‘no-go area’ by its own city council
Councillor Judith Wolter said it was no longer considered safe for women
Up to 300 protesters held demonstrations in the city centre last night

But the mayor says women should be ‘better prepared’ for such incidents

By Corey Charlton for MailOnline

An 18-year-old victim of the sex assaults in Cologne has described being surrounded by a group of 30 ‘angry’ men who groped her and her friends then stole their belongings as they fled.

The teenager, named only as Michelle, appeared on German TV to recount the harrowing ordeal she endured during the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations last week.

Police say the wave of attacks - which has so far seen 90 women report being assaulted - were perpetrated by groups of ‘Arab or North African’ men in the city centre.

Michelle told N-TV: ‘There were 11 of us together at the time.

‘At around 11pm we were at the main train station and wanted to travel on to see the fireworks, and that was when we first noticed all these men standing around.

‘We managed to go into the cathedral and wanted to go past the Museum Ludwig to join everyone and watch the fireworks by the river, but suddenly we were surrounded by a group of between 20 and 30 men.’

Sensing danger, she and her friends then grabbed each other and started holding hands.

‘They were full of anger, and we had to make sure that none of us were pulled away by them. They were groping us and we were trying to get away as quickly as possible.’

As they fled and were groped, the men also took the opportunity to rob objects from their pockets, stealing mobile telephones as the teenage girls fled.

Later as they attempted to go home, they noticed how more men were shooting rockets and other fireworks at each other near the train station.

Plagued by months of petty crimes prior to the sexual assaults.

The city’s council has now admitted the town centre is a ‘no go area’ for women after a councillor claimed it had been plagued by months of petty crimes prior to the sexual assaults.

But the mayor says women should be ‘better prepared’ for such incidents

witnesses who have since come forward said, as they were molested by the gang the men were laughing and pulling their hair, and there were shouts of “ficki, ficki” (fucky fucky) hurled at them as they were called “sluts”.

the mayor says women should be ‘better prepared’ for such incidents

A press conference hosted by Cologne’s chief of police Wolfgang Albers this afternoon confirmed the attacks had been perpetrated by migrants, all of whom were found to be carrying official immigration paperwork by police officers at the time. Mr. Albers said “the crimes have been committed by a group of people who mostly come from from the North African and Arab countries”, and that he found the situation “intolerable”.

In addition to the sex attacks, there were several brawls between migrant gangs at the railway station, and large numbers of fireworks were fired into the crowds and at the hapless police. A witness said: “There were thousands of men. Simply firing into the crowd, and as my girlfriend and I wanted to get us to safety, but they blocked our way. We were so scared! We fled from the station”.

5 cat night

Crivens, it’s cold tonight ...

image

I’d call it a 3 dog night, but we can’t have dogs here, so I guess 5 cats would do it. As if. Our 2 cats have found the hot pocket of air between the back of a sofa and the baseboard heat. It’s almost 100° in that little spot, and they’re in there like white on rice.

So I’ll just grab an extra blanket and burrow further under the covers. Hard to believe that I was out on the patio without a shirt on Christmas afternoon.

Close My Eyes And Jump

I made the big switch last night, going from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10. I’m hoping they gave me a 64 bit OS, but I don’t know how to check that yet.

Right. So this morning, I had half a dozen screens worth of settings to go through, mostly to tell MS not to share out my data to every digital Tom, Dick, or Harry who waltzes by. I’ll try to new parts one at a time when I have time, but for now just leave me alone, let my PC feel as -7- as possible, and let me get back to work.

I have to say, Firefox certainly looks nicer. Much crisper default font.

And I’m off to work.

All this in just 45 minutes

Tami got a wonder pan for Christmas, an electric cooker that does it all. Slow cooker, rice steamer, pressure cooker, you name it. It makes yogurt too. It’s the amazing InstantPot! Not the best name, but quite a gadget.  After reading through the book of instructions, we gave it a try tonight. We made Holiday Chili in just half an hour. Which was just right, because I’d never made chili using a pressure cooker, and I needed the last 15 minutes to evaporate some extra liquids and to add a bit of this and that to get the flavors balanced. And it came out pretty darn good. It isn’t a hot chili, nor a bland one. It’s a rich red chili with little happy forward spikes of green flavor. Red and green, for the holidays.

1 lb of ground beef
2 baseball size Spanish onions
4 small cloves of garlic
1/2 cup ground ancho chili - about a dozen dried chili pods topped, seeded, snipped up, and then ground
1/4 cup ground guajillo - about 7 dried chili pods topped, seeded, snipped up, and then ground
1/4 cup fresh ground cumin
4 fresh green poblano peppers, diced
3 fresh green serrano peppers, diced
2 fresh green jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced
1 habanero
1 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp hot pizza pepper flakes
2 tsp dried Mexican oregano
1 tbs powdered epazote
2 tsp kosher salt or to taste
black pepper
1 14oz can Rotel diced tomatoes with green chili
1 28oz can diced tomatoes
1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 can light red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
part of a regular beer ( I used a Coors after I took a good swig off the bottle )

In the Instantpot, set to saute:
Brown the burger until it’s mostly cooked, then pour in the about half of the ground ancho, all the guajillo, and most of the cumin. Cook for another 2 minutes, add the onions and garlic. Stir things up and let them cook about 3 minutes.

Debate about how much of the habanero to use. Go with her decision to use one pathetic little sliver. Sneak in some extra cayenne later when she isn’t looking, because she was wise to you and hid the little orange atomic bomb. Damn!

Setting 1 jalapeno aside, add everything else except for the salt. Stir well. Set the InstaPot to Chili, close the lid and tighten the pressure relief valve, and let it cook half an hour.

Prepare any side dishes in the interim, while investigating a glass or two of an interesting rye whiskey.

When the timer goes off, turn off the Instapot and carefully open the pressure valve a bit at a time. Plenty of steam will escape, so be careful. Look inside. Find that the beans are still a bit firm, the whole pot is quite watery, and that the flavor is a touch bland. Remove the pressure cooker lid, set the device back to saute, and reduce it for 15 minutes while stirring constantly. Oh, and add the rest of the ground ancho, cumin, a good grind of black pepper, the other jalapeno minced, and about 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt. Stir, cook. Sneak in a little extra cayenne. Call it done, although it could go another 10 minutes. Phooey, it’s time to eat.

Two servings each later, and she’s putting a travel bowl together for lunch at work tomorrow. Yep, it came out just fine. Something tells me we’re going to be using this gizmo a lot this winter.

If you don’t have an InstantPot, don’t worry. You can slow cook this on the stove top or in a dutch oven in a slow oven. Cover, simmer, give it a stir every 10 minutes or so for an hour and a half. Taste and adjust at around the one hour mark. When the pinto beans start to fall apart it’s done, so get the lid off and reduce any excess fluids. While bean lovers could probably add another 2 or even 3 cans of beans, meat lovers could just as well finely chop up some leftover London Broil or chuck steak and add it in.  But bell peppers, red or green, are a bad idea. And no masa flour either. Yuck.

Massive Magnitude 2.1 Earthquake Hits NJ

Gutter falls off of one house in Sloatsburg

Loud “pop” heard across half the state, most sleep through it

An unusual and mild earthquake rumbled in parts of New Jersey on Saturday, officials said.

The 2.1-magnitude shake-up hit Ringwood, New Jersey, at 12:58 a.m., according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake could be felt in Sloatsburg and Suffern [NY], according to the Suffern Police Department.

There was no reported damage to people or property, Ringwood police said.

Left-leaning media idiots quickly used the micro-quake to create fear over a proposed trans-state gas pipe, and of course, against fracking. Not that NJ has any fracking. And we already have several trans-state gas pipes. Outside of the Canadian Shield, no place on earth is ever earthquake free, but NJ comes close, averaging only 1 or 2 magnitude 2.4 or less earthquakes per year.

A small earthquake rattled part of Passaic County early Saturday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirms that a 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck just before 1 a.m. and was centered near Ringwood.

There were no reports of any damage or injuries.

Earthquakes happen in the area from time to time, experts say, because Ringwood sits on the Ramapo fault line.

Pull her papers forever

Bridge Killer

Truck Driver Destroys 135 yo Iron Bridge Because She Can’t Do Math

image

The Lick Creek bridge located in downtown Paoli, Indian took a tragic fall on Christmas Day when when a 23 year old Semi-truck driver, Mary Lambright thought it was a good idea to take her 43,000 pounds of bottled water across the 100 year old bridge. Lambright who was accompanied by her 17 year old cousin in a leased Penske semi abstained no injuries as the time of the accident. She didn’t get out of the situation easy, the Paoli Police department cited her for overweight on a bridge, disregarding a traffic control device and reckless driving of her tractor-trailer. No one was injured at the time of the collapse

The old iron bridge on South Gospel Street in Paoli was destroyed when a truck driver disregarded the weight and height and drove a load weighing over 43,000 lbs. over it Christmas Day.

According to police, Mary Lambright, 23, of Fredricksburg, Ind., was operating a 2015 Volvo tractor pulling a 53-foot semi-trailer loaded with bottled water when she crossed the bridge at about noon. Authorities estimated the load of water weighed around 43,000 lbs.

As Lambright’s truck entered the bridge, the trailer’s top was ripped off due to its height. She continued across the bridge until the weight of the tractor and trailer caused it to collapse.

The craziest part isn’t that 23-year-old Mary Lambright drove her 30-ton truck onto this tiny bridge in Paoli, Indiana built in 1880. It’s that she knew that the bridge’s weight limit was six tons. She just didn’t know how many pounds that was.

Seriously, that’s what she told the police after the crash on Christmas, as they note in their report:

Ms. Lambright was aware of the iron bridge stating she had driven on it several times in her personal vehicle and was also aware of the posted signage “no semis, weight limit of 6 tons”. When asked by Paoli Police why she continued through the bridge knowing the weight limit was only 6 tons she admitted to not knowing how many pounds that was. She was advised the weight of the vehicle at the time of the crash was close to 30 tons.

Lambright, who got her CDL earlier this year, said she wasn’t comfortable backing up her Volvo truck, so she just chanced it on the bridge.

That bet didn’t exactly pay out.

She knew what the weight limits were, she knew what the clearance was, and if she had the awareness of half a jar of peanut butter she knew damn well her load exceeded both. But screw that, she “wasn’t comfortable” making a U-turn in her truck, so she went and did what she damn pleased. And this antique 8 panel pin-connected Pratt through-truss paid the price. The pity of it all is that the fines she will face are minuscule. A couple hundred bucks total, and that’s about it. And a piece of history is destroyed. [ commenters noted that parts of the bridge had to be cut away to allow the truck’s removal. ]

This nice example of an iron kit bridge - it wasn’t steel in 1880 it was iron - most likely won’t be repaired. Not with iron. And not to it’s original specification. They might rebuild it, but it will get “upgraded” with massive steel floor beams, one-piece giant I beam stringers, and welded chords. In other words, it will sort of look like an old bridge, but have the carrying capacity of something modern. And it won’t really even be a truss bridge anymore. These kit bridges were the real thing; every point where the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal beams came together was on an axle pin. They’re completely flexible structures until they’re complete, at which point they become as stiff as any solid structure. That’s the whole idea behind truss bridges, and it was the pin connected chord variety like this one that expressed that engineering principal most honestly. Welded plate bridges are stronger, and they are truss bridges too, but the flexing takes part in the welded plate itself, which is a little cheat on the pure theory of triangular sectional creation.

Oh, and note the upside down deck truss on the floor beams under the bridge. Very rare. This made the road bed a bit stronger, made the bridge a bit lighter, but most importantly it saved a town a couple of bucks and the need to move some really heavy I beams around. Like I said, these are kit bridges. Order one by mail, and the bridge company builds it for you, numbers all the parts, takes it apart, and ships it to you via rail car. Your local workers put Tab A in Slot B and assemble it, no training needed. And it stays up for 135 years. Or longer. Until the luck runs out.

It occurs to me that we have almost the exact same bridge right here in Hunterdon County. Same size, same age, same builder, same highly rare trussed floor beams. Better condition. It’s a beauty I visit every year. I wonder if theirs was put together using hydraulic rivets like ours was, or if they used hand hammered ones?

Thanks to Rich L for the link.

Right. I’m still looking into that Sam Elliot thing. And not from Mask. Gotta have the ‘stache. Gots to.

some short notes and a wish for a good new year. i guess we can hope but ….

We won’t hold our breath.

Americans and Brits this year may get a chance to save things.
But are the votes there?

A couple of short blurbs caught my eye in the past week, now I can’t find the clippings. No matter though as they were so brief I remember the stupidity anyway.

The word “cock” here in Britain hasn’t had quite the same meaning it carries in the USA.
There are pubs for example, with that word in the name.  And inns too.

An old expression not heard these days that I am aware of, but once was common; is “Keep your cock up” which simply was the Brit way to say keep your chin up. The first time I ever heard that was many, many years ago and I heard it from a Brit mom, whose daughter I was mad about. Boy was I in shock.  They had to move back to the UK and there I was in the USA. Depressed.  So she told me that.

Well, there’s a pub called The Black Cock, been around for years and years with no complaints.  But wouldn’t ya know, PC police never sleep where someone may be offended or perhaps take the name to be RAAAACIS.
And that last was exactly what some council member had in mind that some other person might take in their mind. So the pub sign was ordered to be taken down.
Google Black Cock Pub or Inn and you’ll find hundreds with that name.

Meanwhile, some small town mayor in a German locale had requested that folks please not shoot off fireworks at midnight to welcome the new year, because it may upset or frighten the refugees in their town who have come from a war zone.
Anyone from that part of the world is most likely to be very familiar with things that go bang.  They’d feel right at home.

Hmmm.  I can’t even say, so who the hell asked them to come.
Yeah, right. Her.

Hope the new year will be good to us all, but who can tell?

Predictions here among some with regard to American election for top job .... You are not gonna like this bmews.
Dare I speak her name?

I have a gnawing fear that in the In/Out referendum promised for Brits this year, that the final vote will be to STAY IN.

I think the younger voters will swing the vote. Those probably under 30s. Or 35.
If the vote is very close, I have heard it said that those who want out, will at least take heart and have a chance to try again.  But if the stay in crowd win by a large number, it’s all over.  Maybe for another generation or two.
And Washington is encouraging a stay in vote.
What?  DC isn’t satisfied screwing their own country up?

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
