Time For A Purge

Get Stuffed

Voter Fraud and Ballot Box Stuffing Just “Normal Political Tactics” In Troy NY

Gird your loins for 2012, conservatives.  A voter fraud case in upstate New York should serve as a reminder of what crooked politicians are willing to try during an election year.

The election fraud in Troy grows ever larger

Via the Times Union:

A grand jury investigating ballot fraud in a 2009 primary indicted City Councilman Gary Galuski.  He is the eighth person to face charges in connection with the probe.

Galuski was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Rensselaer County Court by Greene County Court Judge George J. Pulver. Galuski pleaded not guilty.

Galuski was charged with four counts of first-degree falsifying business records.

The case centers around fraudulent attempts to get Democrat candidates on the ballot for the Working Families Party.  The problem with the WFP?  Roger Stone reports:

The WFP has been proven to be nothing more than a front for ACORN and its left-ward agenda.

WFP is used by ACORN as a sledge hammer to force Democrats to toe the Union line.  WFP was founded by key members of ACORN, and shares many of its political strategies.  The WFP has listed ACORN as an affiliate program directly on their Web site.

For those thinking ACORN has disbanded in New York, think again.  They simply had a name change to New York Communities for Change.

As the city of Troy, NY, awaits jury selection in the first trial involving two Democrats and their alleged roles in a “massive” voter fraud scheme, new details have emerged from the investigation.  Details involving two other veteran political operatives that have already pleaded guilty.

According to a recent Fox News report, Anthony Renna, a Democrat guilty of second-degree forgery, and Anthony DeFiglio, a Democrat guilty of first-degree falsifying business records, are trying to drag all local politicians, regardless of party affiliation, down with the ship.  Thus far, eight people have been charged in connection with the ballot fraud investigation, four of which have pleaded guilty.

Reports emerging from the investigation indicate that the Democrats are trying to implicate Republicans of the same conduct they have been charged with.  According to the state police, Renna and DeFiglio both claimed that, ”voter fraud is an accepted way of winning elections, and faking absentee ballots was commonplace.”

Renna explained that the process of handing in forged ballots and fake votes ensures that “ballots are voted correctly.” He adds, “‘Voted correctly’ is a term used for a forged application or ballot.”

DeFiglio added that such fraud is actually “an ongoing scheme and it occurs on both sides of the aisle.  What appears as a huge conspiracy to nonpolitical persons is really a normal political tactic.”

Local Republicans, presumably the party being referred to on the other side of the aisle, are vehemently denying that ballot fraud was,or is, a normal political tactic.

James Gordon, Chairman of the Troy Republican Committee said, having been a part of the election process for a number of years that he has, “never heard or seen anything resembling these actions.”
...
With eight Democrats facing charges in the investigation, Gordon sums up the situation by saying, ”Democrats wanted to win and it appears at any cost.”

“This was greed, ignorance, lack of ethics, and laziness.  Bad people doing bad things.”

The New Party, ACORN, the Center For Working Families ... it’s 2008 all over again ... these are all pretty much the same organization under different names ... and this is the group that first brought Obama onto the scene. Fraud, theft, corruption ... a page right out of Alinski’s Rules For Radicals.

even more here

Every voter roll in the country needs to be purged and brought up to date, cross referenced to the graves registration folks, Social Security, the Post Office, et cetera. No motor voters, no absentee ballots without a certifying witness. Photographic voter IDs when you vote. And significant fines laid on those who try to vote more than once, who try to vote in someone else’s name, and so on. If you want an honest government the very first step is to make sure they are elected honestly. Not a single citizen should tolerate any of this crap, ever. Not even once. And for the officials involved in collecting and counting the votes? Jail time if they rig it or mess it up. They’ve been given a sacred public trust, and sullying that ought to be a stoning offense.

One comment I read somewhere suggested that every Republican and Independent in the country should show up to vote and present both a photo ID and their voter registration card, voluntarily. It may not be the law now, but it would make a tremendous statement, and the word would get out. After that, how hard could it be to pass a Voter ID law if roughly half the population was already doing it?

I’m sure you already have at least two forms of photo ID. I’ve got three that I can think of instantly, and probably a couple more around here somewhere.

We The People are the law, and the law is there for us. We are not there for the law. Never forget.

“It shakes the confidence of the voters when they see something like this happened,” said former Troy Mayor Harry Tutunjian, who recently left office and is now a Republican member of the county legislature. “We want to encourage people to get out and vote and express their democracy. But if they see their right to vote being taken away by others, they are going to be hesitant and think that their vote isn’t worth anything,”

Special Prosecutor Trey Smith obtained indictments against a slew of public officials, including former City Council President Clem Campana, City Clerk William McInerney, and two city councilmen besides LoPorto, John Brown and Gary Galuski. Campana and Galuski have pleaded not guilty.

Brown, who pleaded guilty to possession of a forged instrument, could go to jail for six months. LoPorto, who ran for re-election last November as the Working Families Party candidate, was defeated.

This is probably Raaaacist

The coach had put together the perfect team for the Detroit Lions. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges and the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn’t find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win.

Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in Afghanistan.  In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Afghan Muslim soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a 15th story window 100 yards away. KABOOM!

He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards away, right into a chimney.  KA-BLOOEY!

Then he threw another at a passing car going 90 mph. BOOM!  BULLS-EYE!

“I’ve got to get this guy!” the coach said to himself. “He has the perfect arm!”

So, he brings him to the States and teaches him the great game of football. And the Lions go on to win the Super Bowl.

The young Afghan is hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants is to call his mother.

“Mom,” he says into the phone, “I just won the Super Bowl!”

“I don’t want to talk to you,” the old Muslim woman says. “You are not my son!”

“I don’t think you understand, Mother,” the young man pleads. “I’ve won one of the greatest sporting events in the world. I’m here among thousands of my adoring fans.”

“No! Let me tell you!” his mother retorts. “At this very moment, there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to keep your sister in the house so she doesn’t get raped!”

The old lady pauses, and then tearfully says, “I will never forgive you for making us move to Detroit.”

Joe Biden Was Right!

image

Good old Joe, he’s so special

Wednesday -

Vice President Joe Biden fumbled on a play to campaign contributors in San Francisco on Wednesday, marking yet another one of his infamous ‘oops’ moments.

In a rousing speech at a private fundraiser, the politician mistakenly predicted the city’s 49ers football team would lose its shot at the Super Bowl to the New York Giants.
...
Speaking at the closed event at the Bently Reserve in the Bay Area’s financial district, he kicked off with ‘The Giants [are] on their way to the Super Bowl!’

Sunday -

New York Giants beat San Francisco 49ers 20-17 to reach Super Bowl

Lawrence Tynes booted the Giants into the Super Bowl again. Tynes kicked a winning 31-yard field goal in sudden-death overtime and New York beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 in the NFC championship game Sunday night to reach its second Super Bowl in five seasons.

Well, even a broken clock is right twice a day, right?

the dumbest thing you’ll read? well, it gets loopier. UPDATE to yesterday’s gender story.

Here’s a brief update to yesterday’s article about the little boy growing up being brainwashed about gender.

Ya gotta wonder why the parents are allowed to keep this kid.  He is gonna grow up one confused boy. Er ... girl?
Wanna bet that soon the loon conditioning him now, is gonna teach him how to walk in high heels. Jeesh.
Isn’t this a form of child abuse?  Or am I over reacting?

Hate to say this but .... the kid already looks, well, erm. Kind of odd already?

‘What’s the difference between boys and girls? That’s silly!’ ‘Gender neutral’ child’s reaction to mother’s questions on sex
By JILL REILLY
image

A mother who kept her five-year-old son’s gender a secret since he was born has posted a video of him on the internet discussing ‘silly’ gender differences.
In the 90 second clip, Sasha Laxton, who has been brought up as ‘gender neutral’ can be seen laughing with Beck Laxton and saying it is ‘silly’ to have girls’ and boys’ colours

Sasha’s gender has only been revealed recently because he started school in September, and when Miss Laxton, a web designer, asks if he thinks girls and boys are different, a grinning Sasha simply replies ‘No.’

His mother,46, continues her questions and says: ‘What do people sometimes say to you about colours?’

‘Pink and yellow are girls’ colours and blue and green are boys’ colours. I think that is really silly!’ Sasha replies.

‘What about dressing up in a tutu and being a fairy? Do you remember when you did that for Christmas and I sent it on the Christmas cards because you looked so beautiful?’ asks Miss Laxton.

A smiling Sasha replies ‘Yeah.’

Taliban executes 15 Pakistani soldiers.

Nose buried in weekend papers and mags but this article comes from the net. No surprise.  Less then an hour ago.

These are the folks our troops are ordered to treat ‘humanely.’

I don’t normally like to simply post an article and let it go. But heck. What can I say?  The photos alone speak for themselves. I have one posted here but there are 6 more at the link below if you need that many to show what these vermin are like.

Handcuffed, blindfolded and shot in the back of the head: Taliban releases horrific video of executions of 15 Pakistani soldiers

The paramilitary troops were abducted on December 23
‘God is greatest’ the Taliban yelled as they fired AK-47 rifles
Horrific video has been copied and distributed in street markets

By JILL REILLY

A video showing fifteen Pakistani soldiers being lined up and shot dead by a firing squad has been released by the Taliban.

The paramilitary troops were abducted on December 23 in what the terror group described as an operation to avenge the deaths of insurgents in Pakistan.

The release of the horrific video is intended to serve as a warning to Pakistan’s 600,000-member army, which has failed to break the back of the insurgents despite superior firepower and a series of offensives against their strongholds in mountain regions.

image

The abducted soldiers were stood blindfolded, handcuffed to each other on a barren hilltop as one of their bearded Taliban captors held an AK-47 rifle and spoke with fury about revenge.

‘Twelve of our comrades were besieged and mercilessly martyred in the Khyber Agency (area),’ said the militant.

‘Our pious women were also targeted. To avenge those comrades, we will kill these men. We warn the government of Pakistan that if the killing of our friends is not halted, this will be the fate of you all.’

Before death, one of the men described how dozens of Taliban fighters stormed their fort in the northwestern Tank district and kidnapped the soldiers.

‘They attacked us with rockets, killed a sentry. One ran away. The Taliban entered the fort and captured us with our weapons,’ he said, sitting in rows with other soldiers with their arms folded and legs crossed in front of Taliban banners.

‘They tied our hands, put us in a Datsun and took us away.’

Homerun For Newt

Gingrich Tramples SC Primary

Garners as many votes as Romney and Santorum Combined

Delivers knockout victory speech!

UPDATE: Here it is!  And here it is:

Says the choice - between him and Obama - is one between an America that stands for freedom/opportunity/independence and one that’s a Saul Alinksy socialism that bows to Saudi princes. (actually he first says “the centerpiece of this campaign is American exceptionalism versus the radicalism of Saul Alinksi”, and then it gets better)

HORRY CLAP. Newt didn’t just throw down the glove, he picked it up and smacked the crap outta the left time after time after time, in plain straight up talk, and called the far left and their policies a destructive anti-American bunch of pinkos, and the media their running dogs. He hit just about every single Tea Party point, and then a dozen more dear to Conservative hearts. Then he smacked Obama upside the head with a dead fish over the Keystone XL pipeline and our nation’s debt to China. By gosh, gumbo, and by Hillary’s hoary beard, hit the news sites and/or YouTube and listen to that speech. He’s on fire!

Not the victory speech, but a good talk, half an hour, from Newt:

Hero of the Week

The only thing he could have done to make it better would have been to say “Don’t be like Obama and try to blame your mistakes on someone else.”

Never retreat, never surrender. Now let the smack-down commence.

THE DUMBEST THING YOU MAY READ ALL YEAR … MAYBE

As anyone who reads this site often knows, I have a habit of declaring many items as the most stupid.  I need to make a belated New Year’s resolution, that I will no longer declare at the start of a new year or half way through a year, that I have already discovered theee one moonbat award for the whole year.  Because as readers also know, after making such grand pronouncements, it often turns out that there’s yet a dumber item then the previous one I nominated as the absolute pig ignorant dumb thing. I should wait till the end of the year and then pick out one that really does take the prize. Right?  Well .. I would like to do that.  However ..... of all the dumb things I’ve written about, of all the loony tune items I have found over the last few years, and I have found a few, for example.
Remember a few years ago the story about the then Labour govt. deciding that a public park was being used by “Too many middle aged, middle class white people.” Remember that?  Now that was pretty stupid. I believe the plans were to also dismiss the park attendants and close the park.  It was kept open for another year because a private party donated the money to keep it open and the jobs intact.  I have no idea what happened after that year. So that was dumb.
Then there was suggestion by one politician who wanted to form an agency to encourage muslim women to learn the skill of fishing in England’s famous rivers.
The charge was made again that it appeared to be only men, and then men of a certain pale skin color and of a certain income level, were using England’s fishing grounds. Or should that be waters?  It went nowhere of course.  How many muslim women are interested anyway?  And would their masters allow them out like that?  Pretty dumb, yeah?  Well, here it comes BMEWS.

My nomination for the absolute dumbest, the most weird, the stupidest and most loony tune decision I have ever heard of or imagined.  This might just make it.
This might just be the dumbest thing for the rest of the year.

Boy or girl? The parents who refused to say for FIVE years finally reveal sex of their ‘gender-neutral’ child

By DAVID WILKES

His fairy wings, pink tutu and ballet pumps suggest this little boy has raided the dressing up box.

But if five-year-old Sasha wanted to wear this every day, his parents would have no problem at all.

In fact, as they are bringing him up to be ‘gender neutral’, they would see it simply as their son expressing himself.

image
Gender neutral: Sasha dressed as a fairy on the picture that was used on the family Christmas card in 2010

Not that they usually refer to him as ‘him’. From the moment Sasha was born, Beck Laxton and Kieran Cooper have been at pains not to lumber their son with the stereotyping they fear that gender brings.

So they simply called him ‘the infant’ and kept his gender a secret from all but a few close friends and relatives. As he grew older, he was encouraged to play with dolls as much as Lego, slept in a neutral yellow room and was allowed to wear both boys’ and girls’ clothes.

But now that he is five and at school Miss Laxton, 46, and Mr Cooper, 44, believe it will be almost impossible to keep it up.

Last year parents in Canada who refused to say whether their child was a boy or girl stirred up outrage and accusations they were turning their child into a freak.

Sasha’s parents, who have faced their own share of raised eyebrows, are thought to be among the first British parents to speak about this far-from-traditional method of raising a child. They are keen to highlight the issue publicly and get other parents talking about it.

image

‘I wanted to avoid all that stereotyping,’ Miss Laxton explained yesterday. ‘Stereotypes seem fundamentally stupid. Why would you want to slot people into boxes?

‘Gender affects what children wear and what they can play with, and that shapes the kind of person they become. I start to get cross with it if it skews their potential.’

The process began even before Sasha was born, with his parents choosing not to be told their baby’s sex after scans during the pregnancy. It wasn’t because they wanted a surprise, they just wanted to avoid the inevitable expectations of what having a boy or girl meant.

After he was born, they waited 30 minutes before asking midwives his sex because they ‘did not want to prejudice his life with gender’. They gave him a name that suited both boys and girls and referred to him as ‘the infant’ rather than a son or daughter.

It is only now that Sasha has started primary school that the secret has become impossible to keep and they have started telling the wider world that Sasha is a boy.

Miss Laxton, a web designer from Sawston, Cambridgeshire, admitted that keeping her child’s gender under wraps for so long had not been easy. At her mother and baby group, she said she was regarded as ‘that loony woman who doesn’t know whether her baby is a boy or a girl’. ‘I could never persuade anyone in the group to come round for coffee,’ she said. ‘They just thought I was mental.’

At school, Sasha sometimes wears a ruched-sleeved and scalloped-collared shirt from the girl’s uniform list.  But he has yet to encounter any teasing or bullying. ‘Nobody’s ever mentioned it and I would hope that if they actually said something to Sasha, he’d be confident enough to make a good response,’ his mother said.

His father, a computer software designer, said Sasha is aware he is a boy and has been allowed to grow up taking an interest in whatever he wants. ‘If Sasha wants to dress up in girls’ clothes then so be it,’ Mr Cooper said. ‘But we’re not forcing it.

‘The girl’s clothes and fancy dress are for fun at home. We don’t make Sasha go out in girl’s clothes.’

Miss Laxton said her own background had influenced her view about gender stereotypes.

‘My mother’s very sporty and my dad was very emotional. We’d watch The Wizard of Oz and always start crying, whereas my mum would think we were really soppy,’ she said. ‘So it’s always seemed obvious to me that stereotypes didn’t fit the people I knew.’

Dr Daragh McDermott, a psychology lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, said it was difficult to predict any long-term effects of Sasha’s unconventional upbringing.

‘It’s hard to say whether being raised gender-neutral will have any immediate or long-term psychological consequences for a child, purely because to date there is little research examining this topic,’ he said.

‘That being said, the family setting is only one source of gender-specific information and as children grow, their self-identity as male, female or gender-neutral will be influenced by school, socialisation with other children and adults, as well as mass media.

‘As a child grows they develop their own independent sense of self that will include their own individual gender identification.’

Last year, Canadians Kathy Witterick and David Stocker insisted that they would raise their baby Storm as a gender-neutral child.

Of that case, Dr Harold Koplewicz, a U.S. child psychiatrist, said he was ‘disturbed’ that well-meaning parents could be so misguided.

‘When children are born, they’re not a blank slate,’ he said. ‘We do have male brains and female brains. There’s a reason why boys do more rough and tumble play; there’s a reason why girls have better language development skills.’

Ratz. I was going to post a nice bit of eye candy but Peiper beat me to it. So my photo layout of an amazingly tall red haired Canadian lingerie model will just have to wait.

And somehow I ran across this thing, which would make a really great WhatsIt. Pity that the search engines have killed this game for all of us.

So I’ll have to find something else to blog about ...

News? Let’s see ...

Sadness: jazz singer Etta James has died.

TV cook, mayonnaise and butter guru Paula Deen has diabetes. Never saw that one coming!  Surprise, she’s had it for years, and kept right on cooking that artery clogging sugar rich glop. Devil’s advocate?

Obama sings soul at the Apollo, gets rave reviews for his one line, six word riff. Hey, give him a break, it wasn’t on the teleprompter!

After teh hole dang internet got POed, the SOPA and PIPA censorship bills got shelved. Would that the world acted this way with every piece of BS legislation that comes along.

Oh no you don’t! Fed official tries to clam up to Congress over Fast & Furious! Yo MoFo, you are an employee ...

The chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona is refusing to testify before Congress regarding Operation Fast and Furious, the federal gun-running scandal that sent U.S. weapons to Mexico.

Patrick J. Cunningham informed the House Oversight Committee late Thursday through his attorney that he will use the Fifth Amendment protection.

Perhaps 20 years for Contempt will open his dirty yap.

Good news? Hmm ... I think this is ... SCOTUS throws out Texas Gerrymander plan made by judge.  Damn straight, Skippy. Drawing up gerrymandered electoral maps is what the legislature is for, not the judiciary.

Politics? Oh fug that. I’m sick of it. Newt’s ex and her gotcha video, as she swoops down on her 6 speed broom. Question the timing, much?

Humorous news? Ha, I got one ...

How Do You Know You’re In The Third World?

Mexico City police say they have arrested a would-be bandit who rode his skateboard to bank robbery attempts.

Police say Sergio Ledesma and his skateboard have been turned over to prosecutors after he allegedly attempted to rob two banks by whispering threats to tellers.

Police say the teller at the first bank simply acted as if he hadn’t heard Ledesma, who then skated off to a second bank.

The second teller told police Ledesma appeared to whisper a threat. So the teller set off a silent alarm, and counted out the money while the would-be robber waited patiently.

Police said Friday Ledesma was still waiting when they arrived and arrested him.

Thank God he didn’t take the burro. That stereotype would be ...

the far right in europe. will they all get together on one page?

Not sure how this is gonna work out to be honest.  The reputation of the EDL isn’t exactly pure as the driven snow.  But on the other hand, so long as the liberal left continues to force feed people with this diversity/multi culture crap, where now even using the term colored is an offense, where the muzzies are free to abuse the host countries using their legal system to do so, we may see more of this and who knows.  There could be violence attached to it.
Even folks who harbor no race hate views are concerned about muslim influence and the folks who enable it.  Many of them say they no longer recognize their own country.  Hell, that’s no surprise to me.  It had been approx. 25 years that I’d been away from England when I came back here in 2004.  It did not take long for me to see the huge, and I do mean a hell of a lot, difference that happened over those years. So it shouldn’t be at all surprising that Brits are very much concerned.

Anti-Islamic groups across Europe to attend far-Right rally

Far-right anti-Islamic groups from across Europe are planning to rally in Denmark, for what organisers have billed as the birth of a European movement.

By Richard Orange, Malmo

More than 10 anti-Islamic groups, led by the English Defence League, are expected to send representatives.
“There will be speeches from every defence league in Europe,” said Isak Nygren, the spokesman for the Swedish Defence League. “I hope we can show that there’s resistance against Islamisation of Europe, that we can inspire each other.”

The EDL has held one European rally before, sending members to Amsterdam in 2010 in support of Dutch anti-Islamic politician Geert Wilders, who was in court accused of insulting religious and ethnic groups.

Mr Wilders, who has moved to distance himself from the EDL, is not expected to attend the event.

Stephen Lennon, the former football hooligan who formed the EDL three years ago, however said he was inspired by the Amsterdam gathering to link up with other far-Right groups in Europe, setting up the European Freedom Initiative.

He described the planned gathering, in Aarhus on March 31, as the “first proper European event”.
“We’re hoping this will be the launch of a wider European Defence League,” he said. “We don’t expect it to be big, but our first event wasn’t that big, and they’re just going to get bigger and bigger.”

Mr Lennon, who was convicted of assault in November 2011 after headbutting another EDL member at a rally, said his members were prepared for violence.
“The likelihood is that the local Islamic community will come and attack us, aided and abetted by the far-Left,” he said. “We come to protest peacefully, it’s not our fault that when we come out, that they come to try and bash our heads in.”

Imran Shah, the spokesman for the Islamic Society of Denmark, urged Muslims to stay away from the rally and called on the Danish government to act against the growing movement, especially in the wake of last year’s massacre of 77 people by Norwegian far-Right extremist Anders Behring Breivik.
“We’ve seen what the rhetoric of hate can do in Norway. Do we want some deaths here before we react?”, he said.

Breivik was an early European supporter of the EDL, attending a rally in Bradford in 2010, and claiming hundreds of EDL members as his Facebook friends.
Matthew Goodwin, an expert on the far-Right at Nottingham University, said that the EDL’s move into Europe is worrying.

It’s an interesting article. And I think that he (Lennon) does have a valid point with regard to the violence thing.  Not saying the EDL is above that. Not at all.
But it’s interesting that the other side can attack with impunity under the flag of anti fascism but when someone hits back, by which I mean the right, it’s always an attack against freedom and democracy.
The left forever shouts down speech by anyone they don’t approve of or whose opinion runs counter to the one world, one opinion. Theirs naturally.
I’m aware that there are some nasty people on the right, dangerous ones even. But so far they seem to be the only ones willing to take any action of any kind.

More than £2billion is being claimed in benefits by foreigners every year, including thousands of illegal immigrants, figures reveal.
The Department for Work and Pensions announced a fraud investigation last night after it emerged 5,000 illegals claimed handouts worth £42million to which they are not entitled.
Ministers acted after the first-ever study of claimants’ nationality, which found 371,000 foreign nationals are on out-of-work benefits.

The 49-year-old was granted housing benefits of almost £8,000 a month to live in the six- bedroom property with his wife Sayida and children.

The unemployed couple demanded to be moved to West Hampstead, north-west London, after deciding their home in the Midlands was inadequate.

The payments, revealed last year, are among the largest ever given in housing benefit.

Their new home has a 90ft garden and has been recently refurbished, with an en suite master bedroom and modern kitchen.

It is minutes from West Hampstead Underground station and the neighbourhood is home to comedian Stephen Fry.

It is understood Mr Khaliif has up to eight children and lives on benefits. He has not worked since arriving here three years ago.

It is understood the family left £600 worth of damage to their old home in Coventry and did not pay the final month’s rent.
Housing benefit was recently capped at £400 a week, but the Khaliifs were able to claim more because they moved before the change came into force.
According to property sources, the house was being advertised to rent at £7,800 per month.

We’re in the money,
We’re in the money;
We’ve got a lot of what it takes to get along!
We’re in the money,
The sky is sunny;
Old Man Depression, you are through,
You done us wrong!

We never see a headline
‘Bout breadline, today,
And when we see the landlord,
We can look that guy right in the eye .

We’re in the money
Come on, my honey
Let’s spend it, lend it,
Send it rolling around!

One Up, One Down, One Sandbagger

Greed League: 5-2 win this week
Cheap League: 2-5 loss this week

I think I have developed a working hypothesis that a bowling average is an honest indicator of your ability until that average hits about 205-215. After that your average becomes more of an indicator of your ability to manipulate a number to give your team the best handicap advantage. Case in point would be the guy on the team that beat us on Cheap League last night, who carries a 224 average, yet threw a 760 series. He’s actually a 260-class bowler (a 279 is a perfect score except for 1 throw); we see him in tournament situations all the time, every week, where he throws 800+ series. It’s part of the strategery of league play, and his 1st place team is still 20+ pins ahead of even the 2nd place team (which right now happens to be us).

In a perfect world with an infinite supply of bowlers, leagues could put average caps on the memberships, and the top players would be excluded from the lesser leagues, forcing them to go compete in the hardcore leagues which are often run without handicaps of an kind. Scratch bowling, just like the pros do on TV. Alas, the world isn’t perfect, the economy is in the outhouse, and every bowling league in the country is super glad to have anyone who shows up and pays the dues every week.

Since this was a position round in Cheap League this week, next week we go back to the normal rotation, which means we play this team again next week. Let’s see how they do then.  In Greed League we’re hanging onto 3rd place.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
