a law to ban mosque loudspeakers is tabled by pc weaklings

For all their past wars and glories if that term even applies, Israel also has its cowardly pygmy politicians.

Netanyahu is absolutely correct.  Who the hell wants to listen to that caterwauling five times a day? Why should the rest of the population have to endure that crap? But even he has had to back down as he didn’t get enough support.  Yeah, it’s being tabled. For now.  Which translated probably means, fergitaboutit.  But he was right and he did try.

Netanyahu backs law to ban loudspeakers at mosques

JERUSALEM: In a controversial move, Israel’s hawkish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his support for a proposed law that would ban mosques from using loudspeakers to call people to pray, stressing that “there is no need to be more liberal than Europe”.

The law popularly known as the Muezzin Law, proposed by lawmaker Anastassia Michaeli of ultra-nationalist Yisrael Beiteinu party applies to all houses of worship, but the practice is mainly prevalent in mosques.

“There’s no need to be more liberal than Europe,” Netanyahu was quoted by Ha’aretz as telling ministers of the ruling Likud party during a discussion on the proposed law.

However, after intense pressure from Likud ministers Limor Livnat, Dan Meridor and Michael Eitan, who harshly criticised the bill, Netanyahu announced that he was postponing the scheduled debate in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation.

Michaeli has said that hundreds of thousands of Israeli citizens routinely suffer from the noise caused by the muezzin’s calls to prayer.

“The bill comes from a worldview whereby freedom of religion should not be a factor in undermining quality of life,” she emphasised.

“I do not want to turn the bill into a national, religious and cultural issue,” the lawmaker asserted.

“This is a green problem, not a black problem,” she added in reference to the opposition the bill has garnered from politicians and civil rights groups who say it would restrict freedom of religion.

Netanyahu echoed similar sentiments discussing the measure with Likud ministers.

“I have received numerous requests from people who are bothered by the noise from the mosques,” the Israeli Premier said.

“The same problem exists in all European countries, and they know how to deal with it. It’s legitimate in Belgium, it’s legitimate in France. Why isn’t it legitimate here? We don’t need to be more liberal than Europe,” the hawkish leader added.

Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor, however, opposed the move saying there was no need for such a law and that it would only escalate tensions.

“None of the ministers came to Netanyahu’s defence or supported his position,” a minister, who reportedly participated in the meeting, told the Israeli daily.

Realising that he would not be able to muster a majority in support of the law among his ministers, the Prime Minister announced that the bill would be removed from the agenda of the Ministerial Committee for Legislation, which convened a few hours after the Likud meeting.

Yeah Right

Not A Terrorist, Not A Muslim

Belgium Killer kills 5, wounds 123 with grenades and automatic weapons

Rapist drug dealer murderer merely had a grudge against society, so he attacked crowds of Christmas shoppers. With military explosives and machine guns. Nothing to see here, move along.

The gunman, named as Nordine Amrani, 33, began his attack near a bus stop at Place Saint Lambert, a central shopping area and the site of the city’s annual Christmas market and its main courthouse.

He opened fire and threw explosives on a city centre square which was hosting a Christmas market. He ended by shooting himself in the head with a handgun, witnesses said.

“The act which happened here in Liege is horrible, there are no words to describe the tragedy. We think of the innocent victims, innocent victims, of their families and friends. We also think of all the people who were present at the scene, and more generally of the people of Liege. All the country is sharing in the pain of the families affected,” The Prime Minister said.

“According to the information we have this is an isolated act, not a terrorist act, or an attack. The shock that the population feels is understandable and we share it,” he said.

They stressed that Amrani had no known links to terrorism or any history of mental illness or violent crime, but it did emerge that he was released on parole last year from a 58-month sentence for possessing a cache of weapons and 2,800 cannabis plants.

Belgian gunman Nordine Amrani launched his attack on Christmas shopping crowds in Leige’s busy Place Saint Lambert because he knew that he was going to be sent back to prison and had a “grudge against society”, his lawyers said today.

It emerged early this morning that Amrani, 33, killed a 45-year old woman before carrying out his grenade and assault rifle attack that killed three people in Liege, including a 17-month old baby boy.

The Belgian, of Moroccan origin, was on parole and had been summoned to police, where he feared being arrested and being returned to prison because his car number plate had been seen at the scene of an “immoral act”.

With previous convictions and jail terms for possession of arms, he would have known that the police would have raided his properties where he had a new stash of heavy weapons, including grenades and assault rifles.

Amrani was convicted in 2008 of growing thousands of marijuana plants, and caught then with bombs and automatic weapons. He got 8 years in jail. Funny how he was out and about, and re-armed, just 3 years later. Say what???

The police source said Amrani’s rucksack was ‘full of grenades’, with many remaining unused after he pulled the pins out of just three.

The source said Amrani, who came from a North African immigrant background, also had convictions for drug dealing, handling stolen goods and sex abuse.

‘Amrani was well-known to us, but was never linked to any terrorist group,’ said the source.

No, no terrorist group that you are aware of.

And don’t you just adore this leading line from the BBC -

Nordine Amrani was known to Belgian police as a gun enthusiast long before the day he killed at least four people and himself, wounding more than 120.

No waffle brains, he wasn’t a gun enthusiast. He was the armorer for a criminal gang, at least. There is a difference, even if to you it seems slight.

He had previously been convicted for drug dealing and illegal arms possession, as well as for holding stolen goods and other crimes, said Daniele Reynders, the public prosecutor for Liege.

All told, he had racked up around 20 brushes with Belgian law enforcement, an official source told AFP.

Yeah, let’s all thank God that this wasn’t any kind of indication that he had mental problems or anything. All us sane folks have a bomb lab in the garage, don’t we?

Lot’s of papers and blogs are running his picture now that it’s been released. Here’s the only picture of him that he deserves:

image

Burn in Hell, asshole.

PS - Guess those super effective gun control laws don’t work in wonderful Europe either. Not only did this scumbag get his hands on firearms, he got hold of fully automatic ones, and grenades. Grenades are classified as WMDs in the USA, therefore this murder spree is an act of terrorism. Call it Sudden Jihad Syndrome, call it just another criminal loser who just happens to be of pizzlamic descent who just happens to hate the world who just happens to go on a killing spree. During the major Christian holiday season. Pure coincidence. He was just a nihilist trying to commit suicide, who was the worstest shot evah. Yeah, that’s it. And then give props to the Belgie’s criminal justice system ... more than 20 convictions, drugs, guns, BOMBS, rapes, yet here he was, out on the street. Way to go!

Connect The Dots?

Polar bears eating their young, blame Glowball Worming!

BBC Caught Faking Polar Bear Climate Change Photos

Kind of makes me wonder.

Meanwhile, ClimateGate II continues, but I’m so sick of that nonsense I’m not even going to link to it. Ok, I’ll only link it generically, but the whole thing is a crap sandwich with more layers than you can stomach. Canada pulling out of Kyoto, Climate Change blamed for the continued desertification of the Sahel, instead of the goat based economy and the slash ‘n burn practices of the natives AND in direct opposition to the pile of reports over the past 20 years saying the area is getting greener, more data fakery from teh rubber thermometer squad, etc. The only real news from that whole darn genre is the two guys who quit their jobs as hurricane predictors because they realized they had been dead wrong every year for ages, and that the much vaunted models simply don’t work.

I’m sure that Climate Chaos™ will soon be blamed for lions, fish, scorpions, barn cats, sea birds, insects, and all other species who eat their young and always have too. Desperate idiots. Take their keyboards away, they’re a danger to the rest of us.

On the other hand, there may actually be some good news hiding in there somewhere regarding the cannibalism bit, and I think Global Werming should take the blame.

The DC Garbage Nazis

Where are we, England?

DC Woman Fined For Not Recycling Poop Soaked Newsprint

WASHINGTON - It’s the law in D.C. - recycle or face a fine from the Department of Public Works. But is enforcement of the law going too far?

Dupont Circle resident Patricia White says she has been fined eight times for throwing homemade cat litter in her trash. The fines total $2,000. White says she shreds old newspaper and junk mail to use as cat litter. She believes she is helping the environment by reusing the paper and avoiding cat litter you will find in stores.

After being fined several times, White says she called the Department of Public Works inspector who issued the tickets. According to White, the inspector admitted to digging through trash looking for violations. White even appealed the violations in D.C. court. Judge Audrey Jenkins agreed with the inspector after White explained the situation. FOX 5 tried to reach Judge Jenkins, but her office has declined to comment.

D.C. Council Member Jack Evans says DPW is going too far with its recycling enforcement. He demanded a meeting with DPW Director Bill Howland to discuss White’s case.

White says she will continue to fight the citations and continue to dispose of her cat’s litter in the trash and not in the recycling bin.

We have paper recycling here in Clinton too. Newspapers, magazines, cardboard. But if you shred the paper it becomes garbage, and if the paper is soiled with either food or feces it is NOT recyclable. I think the garbage nazis in DC and Judge Stoopid ought to get a better grip on reality. Besides, newspaper is organic, so it can decompose, and it will decompose more readily once it is cut into little bits and soaked with something, especially something that happens to be an organic acid. Like cat pee.

Yet another case of A Bridge Too Far that has connected the insane asylum with the powers of government.

Nice Work If You Can Get It

Another one for the Obviously Obvious files ...

New Study: Drinking Leads To Unsafe Sex

rolleyes :eyeroll: rolleyes

How much alcohol a person drinks directly affects how likely they are to have unsafe sex, a new review shows.

On average, every 0.1 milligram per milliliter increase in study participants’ blood alcohol levels raised their likelihood of having unprotected sex by 5 percent, the researchers found.

Canadian researchers looked at 12 studies that examined the link between people’s blood alcohol content (BAC) and how likely they were to say they would use a condom during intercourse. In all of the experiments, researchers had split the study participants into two groups, and asked one group consume alcohol, while the other group did not drink. Participants were then reported whether they would engage in unsafe sex.

The findings help explain why people who’ve been drinking engage in unsafe sex despite knowing better, study researcher Jürgen Rehm, the director of the Social and Epidemiological Research at Canada’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, said in a statement. “Alcohol is influencing their decision processes.”

The galling thing is that a whole group of “scientists” got paid, probably for the better part of a year, to do this study.

I’d put in a bid with the EU for funding to study how a lack of drinking water causes dehydration, but I don’t think it would go through given their recent legal decisions. Come on already people, wake the hell up. DUH.

DIY chain Lowe’s pulls advertising from American Muslim TV show.  muzzie cries foul

So it’s bigotry because a major company may have seen and doesn’t approve of the TV message, and pulls its advertising.
Mr. Ellison, good muzzie that he is, thinks it’s bigotry.  Of course.  Anyone questioning that group for any reason whatever is, bigoted. They’re islamophobic, to use the newer age word.

I’d be curious to know if any Lowes stores in the USA are being picketed.
If it were here in the UK, there’d already be riots.

US DIY chain defends boycott of Muslim TV show

US DIY chain Lowe’s has defended its decision to pull advertising from reality show “All-American Muslim” amid charges the company had given in to bigotry.

“All-American Muslim,” which airs on The Learning Channel and ends its first season Jan. 8, follows several Muslim families in and around the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Michigan, which is home to one of the largest Muslim populations in the United States and its largest mosque.

It has been accused by one Florida group to be propaganda. But the decision by Lowe’s sparked an outcry by defenders of the show.

North Carolina-based Lowe’s employed its Facebook page to defend itself and called “All-American Muslim,” a “lighting rod” for “strong political and societal views.”
Lowe’s spokeswoman Karen Cobb said the company was one of “dozens” of companies to pull their advertising since late last month. Names of other companies were not immediately available.

Laurie Goldberg, a TLC spokeswoman, declined to say how many companies have pulled their advertising from the show, which attracts about a million viewers per week.

The Florida Family Association, a little-known group that has campaigned against the show, has branded “All-American Muslim” “propaganda” that is “clearly designed to counter legitimate and present-day concerns about many Muslims who are advancing Islamic fundamentalism and Sharia law.”

But U.S. Representative Keith Ellison, who is Muslim, said in a statement that Lowe’s had “chosen to uphold the beliefs of a fringe hate group” and given in to intolerance.

“Corporate America needs to take a stand against these anti-Muslim fringe groups and stand up for what is right because this is what it means to be an American,” he said.

source

Mr. Ellison I’d bet, got elected on a left wing and muslim block vote.  I might be wrong of course. But isn’t it typical that because he doesn’t think Lowes has it right, then of course they aren’t acting as Americans.  Interesting to note that a muslim is deciding what an American is or should be. I guess standing up for what is right, means what is right as defined by Mr. Ellison.

court in Malaysia and big mouth nitwit jesse jackson declare bush blair guilty

Some things are so stupid they amuse, others so stupid they anger.
I’m not too sure what to make of this. I mean, just who are these pipsqueaks anyway?
I’m certain they have no real jobs or profession. Or none they are working in.
Pumped up with left wing importance they pontificate on world affairs, as though they and their little country matter in any big way.  And it’s reported here by another one of those folks with a name nobody except his mother can pronounce.

So this is funny. Sort of.  They really take themselves quite seriously. Schmucks!  woo-hoo. Bush and Blair will be frightened.

Bush, Blair found guilty of war crimes in Malaysia tribunal
By Mahi Ramakrishnan, Press TV, Kuala Lumpur

image

Former US president George Bush and his former counterpart Tony Blair were found guilty of war crimes by the The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal which held a four day hearing in the Malaysia.

The five panel tribunal unanimously decided that Bush and Blair committed genocide and crimes against peace and humanity when they invaded Iraq in 2003 in blatant violation of international law.

The judges ruled that war against Iraq by both the former heads of states was a flagrant abuse of law, act of aggression which amounted to a mass murder of the Iraqi people.

In their verdict, the judges said that the United States, under the leadership of Bush, forged documents to claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

They further said the findings of the tribunal be made available to members of the Rome Statute and the names of Bush and Blair be entered into a war crimes register.

Both Bush and Blair repeatedly said the so-called war against terror was targeted at terrorists.

Lawyers and human rights activists present here say the verdict by the tribunal is a landmark decision. And the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Foundation said it would lobby the International Criminal Court to charge former US president George Bush and Former British prime minister Tony Blair for war crimes.

source

image

But this isn’t so funny.  This pisses me off on more then one level.

Now then, before Lyndon flames me in the possible mistaken belief that I would defend Tony Blair, rest assured L. that were I to do that, my wife would see it as grounds for divorce and mental instability on my part. No, what bothers me big time is, what damn business is it of that blinking, pompous ass, that disingenuous pc leftist Jesse Jackson, to come here to England and demand that a former Brit Prime Minister (no matter who he is) be tried in some court for war crimes.

No American has any god damn right to come here and do that and I don’t even care were that American a right wing conservative.  What is not our business is best left to Brits.  Being critical on blogs of crime in the streets and how justice is administered or as usually the case, is not, is fair game. They do it to us too.  But what this country doesn’t need is some would be head of state (now that’s a horror story worthy of Stephen King) coming here and giving a speech passing his lefty legal judgement on a former PM. Or any other elected official.  If it bothers me when foreigners do it to us (USA) it also bothers me in this case.

Jackson addressed a conference on radicalisation at a university yesterday.
The ignorant big mouthed bag of poo said that “killing innocent civilians with unmanned drones was an act of terrorism the same as suicide bombings.”

I wasn’t aware btw, that Britain used any drones in Iraq, and the way this lying bastard speaks, one would get the impression (entirely mistaken) that civilians were a prime target.

Things must be slow for Jackson in the USA. I guess he had to come here for an audience that would listen.

There’s a word for Jesse.  Isn’t there?

THERE ARE NO STARVING SOMALIS

OK, I want every single person reading this page to dig deep into your pockets or purse and give generously to famine relief for those poor starving Somalians.

Errr,,,, hang on. I think there’s a mistake. Can’t possibly be Somalia.
Because the guy who is head of the recognised government says,

Starving? What starving? I don’t got no stinkin starving here. Well, not in those words.

What he’s quoted as saying is …..

We have no famine, says Somalian prime minister

The world’s aid agencies have become “lords of poverty” and their claim that famine has struck Somalia’s capital is “absolutely” false, according to Abdiweli Mohammed Ali, the country’s prime minister.

Mr Ali, who leads Somalia’s officially recognised government, chose the week when the United Nations has appealed for $1.5 billion to help his country’s people to deliver a stinging attack on relief workers.

A Harvard-educated economist, he believes they have become an “entrenched interest group”, exaggerating the scale of suffering in order to drum up donations.
The United Nations says that 250,000 Somalis are suffering from famine in three regions of the country, including Mogadishu. Patches of waste ground across the bullet-scarred city, devastated by two decades of war, are filled with the shacks of refugees who have fled drought and food shortages. Children with distended bellies and stick-like limbs can be seen in many of these sand-blown camps.

Seated in his air-conditioned office, Mr Ali said the UN’s judgment that famine had struck his capital was wrong. “I have no idea how this international community makes the grading. You ask them and tell me how they did it. They don’t know what they’re talking about. But what I can say is enough relief came to Somalia and we provided enough relief to those affected by the famine.”

It’s not so much that any of us are surprised. And perhaps there are starving Somalis but I don’t give a damn. But I’d encourage you to read all the rest of the article because it is interesting. It really is.

AND YOU CAN READ MORE HERE

The Greening Of The Fleet

Or should I have called this post “The Fleecing of the Green”?

Navy gives bio-fuel a try, orders up nearly half a million gallons ...
At only 4 Times Regular Cost

A California company has been hired to provide 450,000 gallons of advanced biofuels to the U.S. Navy – the “single largest purchase of biofuel in government history,” according to the Navy – at $15 per gallon, or about four times the market price of conventional jet fuel.

And gosh, you’d better sit down for this one: Solazyme, the company that got the contract, not only is the recipient of $21.8 million in Obama’s Green Stimulus deal, on the company’s board sits T.J Galuthier, Clinton’s Deputy Secretary and Chief Operations Officer of the Department of Energy from 1999 to 2001, who also served on President Obama’s White House Transition Team, where he worked on the energy provisions of the stimulus package. A triple coincidence, imagine that. The guy who wrote the green stimulus is now in charge of a company that got a big fat green stimulus handout.

[Secretary of the Navy] Mabus notes that this 450,000-gallon buy — while comparatively large for military biofuels — is still tiny compared to the amount of fuel the Navy and the commercial airline industries consume. He’s promised that as the Navy buys more fuel, economies of scale will kick in, and prices will drop. But an MIT study of alternative jet fuels, conducted in association with the Navy, found that even under optimal conditions — with dozens of refineries up and running — the price of bio jet fuel would still be twice as high as the cost of the traditionally made stuff.

Read all about it here. And here. And here.

It ain’t easy goin’ green. Especially when we have enough regular oil right here in our own country, to run the military for the next couple of centuries. And I do hope that this algae derived fuel they’re buying works a whole lot better than the recycled french fry oil bio-fuel that’s out there. That stuff tends to clog the heck of diesel injectors on tractors and bulldozers and stuff whenever it gets cold. Oops.

I gather the whole carrier group is going to use this fuel on a test trip across the Pacific. I wonder how big the Navy’s fleet of tow trucks tow ships is?

Back from the doctor…

Guess I’m not dying today.

One of the things I like about my doctor is that he doesn’t relegate vitals to the nurses. He takes them himself. My blood pressure was back to normal (120/80) Unlike when I was in the hospital when it ran 180/? Too high, is all I can say. It was just frakking too high!

I’m sure I’m gonna die, but it won’t be today.

Is There Something Wrong With This Picture?

Bad Weather: Six Somali Pirate Ships And Crews Lost At Sea

image

mmm, mmm, chum!

The number of pirate attacks off the Somali coast has declined considerably in recent weeks due to strong winds and storms with pirates reporting that at least six of their groups and six of their boats were lost at sea.

The six pirates groups from Harardheere, Hobyo, Garacad, Bargaal and Ceel Dhanaane area have still not returned from their hijacking missions, according to pirates who spoke to Somalia Report on Sunday.

“Winds and storms greatly affected us. We were forced to decrease our attacks these days. Six groups of my friends, using six speed boats, have been lost. We haven’t heard from them in twenty days. Three groups were from Garacad, Bargaal and Ceel Dhanaane while another three groups were from the Harardhere and Hobyo area” said Mohamed Ahmed, a pirate in Bari region. “I don’t know exactly how many pirates went to sea, but they were at least 53 pirates using six speed boats, carrying different weapons and our equipment to hijack vessels”, added the pirate.

Another pirate in Harardheere area also confirmed the incident to Somalia Report.

“A total of six groups, each one using one speed boat, are missing. We call the storms and winds like this ‘Wajiilo’-time. It will continue until the next month and we are trying to wait or go to sea carefully. We know that two of the speed boats were lost in the Indian Ocean while the other one was lost in the Red Sea”, added the pirate.

The missing pirates are from mixed clans in Somalia, including the largest clans of Daarood and Hawiye.  Several well-known pirates were investors in the failed expeditions.

Guushaaye, a pirate commander holding the MV ALBEDO, was an investor in one of the six boats. Khaliif Dhoore, a pirate from the Saleebaan clan – a sub clan of Hawiye - who hijacked Ukrainian vessel MV VIENNA in 2008, was also an investor in a missing group. Mohamed Garfanje, the hijacker of Fishing vessel FV ARIDE, also arranged one speed boat of these six groups.

Is piracy now a legitimate business or something? We’ve got both the pirates and their financiers giving interviews to the press. By name, no less.  That means we know who they are, and where they are, what acts of banditry each one is responsible for, and the money chain behind them. Authorities now routinely modify their piracy warnings based on wind and weather, and publish maps accurate to the hour, that show the zones the mother ships are operating in. Heck, the local press reports when the mother ships are ready to head to sea.

And now, when the allied navies thwart one of their attacks and arrest a bunch of Somali pirates ( Go Brits! 7 pirates snagged ) we get the news from the pirate’s perspective and the press even tells us who they are and where they’re hiding out after some of them got away. Horry Clap!

Um, why are these people still alive?

For your dancing pleasure

I’ve not been posting lately. Just another bout of bad health. I seem to have gotten over it, though my doctor will tell me for sure later this morning.

I’m posting this video of Barbara and Tim Haller. They were my bosses when I worked for the Dayton Arthur Murray Studio. They taught me how to dance, and I taught my wife how to dance. (wife was one of my first students) Enjoy!

Looks like they are at the Manchester Inn in Middleton. Again. I’ve performed there several times with my students.

We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
