Oops 2

Didn’t we hear this same story last year, only about Iran? What is going on already???

More than a third of U.S. weapons to Afghan forces unaccounted for

American efforts to arm Afghan government forces in their fight against the Taliban and al Qaeda have suffered from “significant lapses in accountability,” with more than one-third of all U.S.-procured weapons currently unaccounted for, according to a U.S. government report released Thursday.

The U.S. military failed to “maintain complete inventory records for an estimated 87,000 weapons — or about 36 percent — of the 242,000 weapons that the United States procured and shipped to Afghanistan from December 2004 through June 2008 … Accountability lapses occurred throughout the supply chain,” a U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report states.

The Defense Department spent roughly $120 million during this period to acquire a range of small arms and light weapons for the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), including rifles, machine guns, and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

Account for every rifle. Every grenade. Every bullet. From when they get made to when they get handed over. If you can’t do that, then you’re out of a job. What the yabbos do with them after that is not your responsibility, but if you start seeing them for sale at the local bazaar, then you stop handing them out. Is that too hard a concept to understand? NOTHING “falls off the back of a truck”. Especially on our side of the pond. Hey, crazy idea: have the shipments guarded!

Arizona Home Invaders Are Mexicans

You probably saw the video on the news last night. This guy in Tuscon Arizona has surveilance cameras all around his house. A bunch of banditos drive up in what looks like a Chyrsler 300, with great big chrome rims. They all jump out of the car firing and go running into the guy’s garage. But he saw them coming, so he has time to get his own gun. Suddenly he returns fire and they go flying. 3 of them jump the wall and run away, 1 gets back in the car as bullets tear up the windshield, and away he goes, loud exhaust and all.

Amazing video of an attempted home invasion in Tucson. Investigators say the victim fought back by shooting at a group of armed men trying to break into his house. This all happened Thursday afternoon near Cardinal and Irvington on the southwest side.

The is video from a surveillance system overlooking the driveway of the victim’s home. It shows the suspects pull up in a car and jump out. One of the would-be home invaders fires a shot as he runs into the garage. Within seconds several more shots ring out. Investigators say those came from the man inside the home.

In the video you can see shards of glass fly as bullets hit the front windshield. Two cameras caught the crime on tape. Once the homeowner shot back the suspects scattered. Three ran away on foot and the fourth jumped back into the car and sped away.

As for the suspects, they all got away but police did find the getaway car a short while later. That lead them to 23 year old Jesus Mendivil. He remains on the loose but investigators say he was shot in the arm during the shootout.

My guess is that’s the guy from the rear seat, the one who stumbles to his knees and falls against the front of the car as he’s running away. It’s pretty clear video. I bet they can ID the faces easily from it. Notice that the thugs are all wearing gloves too. It’s a hit squad.

I was just watching CNN interview the Sheriff or Police Chief from Pima County. Aside from the usual reporter idiocy of “we don’t know what kind of guns they used, but they sounded like machine guns”, the officer let on that at least one of the suspects is known to the authorities already, and wanted on previous assault charges. Finally the reporter asks the right questions, and the officer admits that this is likely gang related and that the suspects are from “south of the border”.

There you have it. Organized crime, from Mexico, invading American homes, possibly with automatic weapons. They got out of the car shooting, so add “with intent to kill” into that mix. Can we secure our borders now please?

image

food for thought: these guys are from Mexico, so that probably IS an M16 in the picture. Notice that it has a sling, which is kind of rare on a civilian weapon. Makes me wonder though.

If you listen to the video, it’s pretty obvious that no automatic weapons were fired. The homeowner gets off about 10 shots to the bandito’s 2, but the rate of fire is way too slow for actual machine guns. That doesn’t mean the thug wasn’t carrying one; he either didn’t shoot it, or had it switched to single shot mode.

Oh, and while the cops say the homeowner was fully within his rights, they also say that he is a person known to them, and that it is not likely that this attack was random. Which might also explain why the guy had so many security cameras around his house, and why he was so fast to get hold of his gun. Or that could be BS from the cop. Stay tuned, story as it develops.

Dutch MP banned over anti-Islam film is to be sent back home from Heathrow.

My final post for the day ...
As usual ... frustrated by the hand wringing whinny pc appeasing left.

The fat double chinned poo pile has got her way and had Mr. Wilder banned from the country.

Sure thing.  He was an easy target for the politically correct and corrupt left.  He has the audacity to be critical of the ROP.

This country no longer owns their own streets, their sovereignty is at the mercy of the eu and the muzzies and they are being slowly strangled by political correctness.

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 6:04 PM on 12th February 2009

A right-wing Dutch politician is to be sent back to the Netherlands after attempting to defy a ban on entering Britain.

Geert Wilders arrived at Heathrow airport this afternoon and was presented with a letter that refused him entry to the UK.

Mr Wilders said he was detained by UK Border Agency officials on arrival, had his passport taken away, and was told he would be sent home within two hours.

The politician had been invited to Westminster to show his 17-minute film Fitna, which criticises the Koran as a ‘fascist book’, by a member of the House of Lords.

Speaking from Heathrow, Mr Wilders branded Gordon Brown the ‘biggest coward in Europe’ and said freedom of speech in Britain had been ‘set back centurie

And just look at those we HAVE let in…

The Home Secretary may consider Geert Wilders too much of a threat to public safety to be allowed into Britain. But by contrast, these are some of the characters who have been let in:

FIREBRAND CLERIC

Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, 82

Egyptian-born Muslim cleric Yusuf Al-Qaradawi

Visited London in 2004 at the invitation of Ken Livingstone, then the city’s mayor, who considered him a ‘progressive force for change’.

Egyptian-born spiritual leader of Muslim Brotherhood, which embraces the Hamas organisation that controls Gaza.

Has justified suicide bombing, which he calls martyrdom, and the killing of Israeli women and children, on the grounds that they are ‘militarised’.

HOMOPHOBIC SINGER

Bounty Killer, Rodney Price, 36

Performed in East London in November despite appeals to the Home Secretary from gay activists who wanted him banned from the country.

The Jamaican reggae singer is accused by critics of glorifying gang violence and guns and of inciting murder against gays.

One song, translated from the Jamaican patois, calls on listeners to ‘burn a fire on poofs and faggots’. Another claims: ‘We need no promo to rub out dem homo’.

BILLIONAIRE CULT LEADER

Reverend Sun Myung Moon, 89

Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Unification Church

Labour Home Secretary Charles Clarke overturned a 27-year ban against the cult leader and allowed him 24 hours in Britain to address a rally in London, in 2005.

The Korean-born billionaire declares himself to be the Messiah.

His movement, famous for its mass weddings of thousands of couples, is said to brainwash the young people it persuades to become followers.

It has been a failure in Britain since 1981, when the Moonies lost a milestone libel case against the Daily Mail. The Mail had called Moon’s Unification Church ‘the church that breaks up families’.

SERIAL PAEDOPHILE

Raymond Horne, 62

A serial paedophile with a long jail history in Australia for offences against boys from 13.

Horne, who emigrated to Australia with his parents in 1952, when he was five, has a criminal record in Queensland stretching back 43 years.

He was released last year from a 12-year sentence for 14 offences against two homeless boys he met while posing as a charity volunteer.

British ministers made no objection when Australian authorities deported him to this country after he finished his sentence, on the grounds that because he never took out Australian citizenship, he is British.

ANTI-SEMITIC AGITATOR

Ibrahim Moussawi, 43

Ibrahim Moussawi, editor of the newspaper Al-Intiqad

Propagandist for Hezbollah cleared to enter the country by Jacqui Smith in November, despite fierce Tory objections.

He is the head of a TV station that routinely describes suicide bombers as ‘martyrs’ and which has broadcast a 30-part series on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-semitic forgery produced in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century that pretends to present a Jewish conspiracy for world takeover.

Moussawi is alleged to have said that Jews are ‘a lesion on the forehead of history’.

Take another look

In response to an email, I just took a look at the Wikipedia page on Ron Paul.

Apart from the extreme isolationism, I found myself agreeing with just about every single one of his positions. And if you toned down the extreme isolationism a bit to a “Buy American / Keep American Jobs In America” level ... allowing the rest of the world to go screw itself, and saving us zillions in foreign aid and trillions in military expenses ... just what was so wrong with this guy? [ I know, I know: you can’t always trust Wikipedia. Certain truths may have been bent or edited, and those PaulBots were mighty active. ]

Yes yes, the MEDIA wanted everyone to think he was batshit insane. A foaming at the mouth raving lunatic. Such a loonie. And he does not have a good TV presence.

But ...

He called the fiscal collapse months or even years ahead of time. He was for secure borders. He was against the “War on Drugs” because it just doesn’t work ... although securing the borders would go a long way towards winning. He’s against big government, against big spending, for the Second Amendment, against the liberties lost to the Patriot Act, for free trade, and even supportive of Letters of Marque And Reprisal, which would end this Somali Pirate thing in about 3 weeks. He was against the IRS.

Ok, the Gold Standard thing. Gosh, he wanted to back our money, or at least some of our money, with gold. Which we mine lots of. And which has been the basic human currency - or object of value - since, um, forever. He’s also against the Federal Reserve, a system that I really don’t understand. Is the Fed screwing us? Can’t say. It sure did look like Alan Greenspan had one helluva lot of power in his day. It was almost like he was his own personal branch of the government. That can’t be that good a thing.

I’m probably begging for about 14 paragraphs from Turtler, which would be very illuminating I’m sure ... so let me refocus my question: Why would Paul have been a worse President than Obama? Why would he have been worse than Hillary? Or even Hillary-Lite (aka Juan McAmnesty)?

Teenage handbag thief outpaced by 72-year-old ex-sprinter.  (way ta go grandma. kudos.)

It’s great to share a story like this. Pity there aren’t more although there are a few.

No comment, just wanted to share this.

She must be in great shape.  I’m only a year younger and can no longer walk the miles I used to, never mind run. Forget that entirely. Can’t.

A teenage thief picked on the wrong victim when she tried to run off with a bag belonging to pensioner Jean Hirst - a former championship sprinter.

By Paul Stokes
Last Updated: 6:24PM GMT 12 Feb 2009

The schoolgirl was surprised to discover her victim, a former All England Schools championship sprinter, still had a turn of pace - at the age of 72.

As Mrs Hirst gave chase, she soon began to close on the culprit who was forced to throw down the bag in her desperation to escape.

The retired teacher had allowed three teenage girls into her car to help her with directions after getting lost on the way to a theatre.

She was straight out of the starting blocks again, however, when one of them took advantage and tried to make off with her bag.

Mrs Hirst said: “Suddenly I felt 18 again. The adrenaline just kicked in and I seemed to turn back the years.

“She had a head start but I covered 70 yards in about 15 seconds and was within two strides of her when she looked over her shoulder and saw me.

“She probably thought I was an easy target but she shouldn’t have judged a book by its cover. The look on her face was one of sheer amazement and she just threw my bag aside.”

Mrs Hirst, a widow, from Mansfield, Notts, was able to stop and pick up the bag which she described as containing her “whole life”, including her purse, keys and address book.

As a 17 year old, she was the Nottinghamshire County Schools 100 yards champion and qualified for the final of All England Schools Championship in Ashington, Northumberland.

Her latest unscheduled sprint was from the car park of the Duchess Theatre, in Long Eaton, Derbyshire.

She had stopped to ask the three girls, who were aged around 15 or 16, if they knew the way and they insisted on getting into the car to take her there.

When they arrived one of the girls asked for 20 pence and Mrs Hirst realised her bag had suddenly disappeared with one of the back seat passengers who was calling for the others to go with her.

“Then she started running and that’s when the fun began. I was not as out of breath as I thought I would be at my age,” she said.

When Mrs Hirst returned to the car, the other girls apologised for their friend’s actions and she decided against calling the police.

She added: “I just told them to choose their friends more carefully. There was no way I could detain them and at the end of the day I was just glad I had my bag back.”

Mrs Hirst, who has two grown up children, was later rebuked by her daughter who told her the girl could have had a knife or turned aggressive.

She added: “I didn’t think of my safety, but I did pay for it a little the next day. I was covered in aches and pains and my daughter turned to me and said it was because I didn’t warm up properly.”

Female FBI officer ‘tortured Mumbai terror attacks suspect with sex.  (say what?)

Yeah people .... this is what the world with the help of lawyers has come to.

This slime ball should have been shot after any information needed was collected.  His ‘lawyer’ needs to be taken out as well.
In another more logical age, he would be history and there’d be no lawyer who would take the case.

A female FBI officer tortured a suspect in the Mumbai terrorist attacks by performing a sex act on him during interrogation, it has been claimed.

By Ben Leach
Last Updated: 10:29PM GMT 11 Feb 2009

Fahim Ansari is accused of helping to plan the attacks in which 173 people were killed in November.

His lawyer, Ejaz Naqvi, has filed legal papers with Mumbai magistrate’s court, claiming the “white woman” removed all his clothes and showed him pornographic films.

In the papers, he claims that three foreigners, including the woman, sexually abused him, causing him “severe itching and wounds” on his body, including his genitals.

Mr Ansari, a devout Muslim, claims this amounts to torture because it is against his religion, The Sun newspaper has reported.

A court in the Indian city ordered medical checks on “wounds on his private parts and all over his body.”

Mr Ansari was arrested with five other suspects last year.

Police have said that he is a trained member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the terrorist organisation responsible for the Mumbai attacks.

He was detained in February last year in connection with an attack on a police camp in Rampur that left seven paramilitaries and one civilian dead.

Police have said Mr Ansari had hand-drawn maps of key Mumbai landmarks, some of which were hit in the attacks that started on 26 November.

New Ann

Dear Ann writes about the stimulus bill in her latest column, Goodbye America! It was fun while it lasted. It’s a fairly gentle essay, given her style.

One of the comment leavers, Ralph from Texas, mentions how to make a counter stimulus that could save the country. And save it tens, maybe hundreds of billions at the same time.

1. cut corporate taxes to 0%------ lowers costs, increases competition, increases production, increase jobs, increases consumer spending from those and generates tax revenues from the sales taxe
2. cut capital gains to 0 %- encourages selling, stimulating economic growth for those engaged in the exchange of those assets, perhaps creating jobs, encouraging domestic consumption thereby generating tax revenue
3. cut estate taxes to 0%- similar results from cutting capital gains rate to 0%
4. Net loser - governmental spending- tuff chit here’s your budget -stay within it or we put someone in who will

Way to go Ralph. That’s the common sense approach that only us non-bureaucrats can see. Eliminate taxes that discourage business. Eliminate taxes that discourage investment. Eliminate the estate tax, because it’s just plain unfair. That money has already been taxed 3 or 4 times at least. Don’t spend more than you take in, duh. And the best part? Smaller government. Not that anyone is ever going to listen to that. Ever. At any level, from the Federal right down to the Condo Association level.

I’ve held my nose and watched the NYC news for the past few weeks. The latest fear-o-meme (should that be a fear-o-moan? Which would be an scary idea that seems attractive at first, but you realize it smells in a way you can’t quite identify?) has been “Oh noes! Without the OStimulus, all the teachers, cops, and fireman are gonna be laid off!! We’re all gonna die!!”

No. New York City has a budget that is out of control, by billions. Bloated government, bloated spending. Beyond belief. 8 million Sienfelds taking and taking. Ralph from Texas could fix that problem in a second: snip snip snip. But that isn’t going to happen. All the government jobs will be saved by the Ostimulus. Which is exactly what Ann is writing in her column.

Suck the pockets of your great-grandchildren dry to pay for ever more government workers now. And the rest of us can go jump.

Dear Washington:
Dear Trenton:
Dear Albany:
Dear Mayor Bloomberg:

Sod off.

The way to save the nation is to let the nation be the nation. Get government off our backs and out of our pockets. Yes, in the short run that would make things worse. And if harshly implemented it means people would die. But government needs to be trimmed. Obama was wrong with his “don’t ask if government was too big or too small, instead ask if it works” idea. Government is almost always too big, and it almost never works. So trim the heck out of it, take away most of the jobs, and leave them as an advisory board. Every single law now has a 10 year sunset provision, and that same provision just got tacked onto every law passed in the last 50 years. Every. Single. One. Too many laws. Too many rules. Too many taxes. Too many government employees. Too much government. A lot of it has to go. Let’s start with half, and then cut some more.

Political Chemistry

A guest post by the dependable Carol, via her friend Terry

New Element Discovered

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.  Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from four days to four years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years; It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium , an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Governmentium has been found to concentrate in certain key locations such as governments, large corporations, and especially in universities. It can usually be found polluting the best appointed and best maintained buildings. Scientists warn that Governmentium is known to be toxic and recommend plenty of alcoholic fluids followed by bed rest after even low levels of exposure.

Governmentium has been shown to be completely immiscible with most other elements, but has an amazing affinity for hot air.

I understand the same research group is still searching for Libertarium which has no protons, no neutrons and no electrons. Its existence was first postulated in Ayn Rand novels but it has never been found in nature.

The Sum Of All Fears

The new politics of “hope & change” is looking like a Hollywood remake of “Larger-than-life Dopes and Same-ole-same-ole Corruptocrats” with tax cheats flanking the new Cabinet, an Attorney General who never saw a pardon he didn’t like or a terrorist he couldn’t love, a porn-protection guru as his Deputy, and a man without an ounce of intelligence knowledge or experience now the wartime head of the CIA.  Add to this mess a Secretary of State whose husband owes far more than any other American alive to foreigners.  The new Secretary of Education was in charge of Chicago schools, where more than 500 verified acts of child battering by teachers went unpunished and teacher unions trumped student rights.  This Cabinet is shaping up to be worse than Bill Clinton’s and Jimmy Carter’s combined, while President Obama throws cocktail parties with $100/pound steak.

President Obama’s definition of bipartisanship:  “I won.”

President Obama’s definition of leadership:  “Nancy can handle the details.”

Our new President had the gall to pronounce the so-called economic stimulus bill absolutely free of “earmarks” and “make-do work,” while spinning his prosaic campaign rhetoric before an international audience in a prime-time “press conference.” This bill has close to a trillion-dollar price tag, but according to the Congressional Budget Office will do worse to our overall economy than no government action whatsoever.  So, if this bill has no pork or earmarks in it, then it is pure socialist folderol run amok before it even gets implemented - in the face of the “worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.”

The Peter Principle has reached its pinnacle in President Barack Obama.

Go read the rest. Kyle-Anne Shiver writes about the confluence of Murphy’s Law and the Peter Principle that is B Hussein Obugger. Outstanding. And she doesn’t even bother to mention the muslime angle or the Kenyan birth angle. Small taters, those. But do follow some of Ms. Shiver’s links.

Economic Collapse: Act of War, or Act of Politics?

Representative Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), Capital Markets Subcommittee Chair, talking about why the government was in such a rush to inject $700 Billion into the banking industry back in September, and why that money really isn’t to be used for loans. It’s there to build capital reserves, to put some bedrock back into the banks’ foundations. Kanjorski talks about what went on at a closed door meeting between Paulson and Congress.

“On Thursday at about 11 o’clock in the morning, the Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous draw down of money market accounts in the Unites States to the tune of $550 Billion dollars was being drawn out in a matter of an hour or two. The Treasury opened up their window to help. They pumped in $105 Billion into the system, and quickly realized they could not stem the tide. We were having an electronic run on the banks. They decided to close the operation, close down the money accounts, and announce a guarantee of $250,000 per account, so their wouldn’t be further panic out there, and that’s what actually happened.

If they had not done that, their estimation was that by 2 o’clock that afternoon $5.5 Trillion would have been drawn out of the money market system of the United States, would have collapsed the entire economy of the United States, and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed. Now we talked at that time, about what would happen if that happened. It would have been the end of our economic and political system as we know it.”

In plain English, he is saying that there was a deliberate run on the banking system. He does not say where the run came from, or who was behind it. Soros, with his history of shorting the Pound and mangling the Thai money a few years ago? The Saudis? Iran? Russia? Was this an act of war, or an act of political leverage? Both are possible. It only takes a few snowballs to start an avalanche.

Want to point fingers? Go read all about it at Atlas Shrugs. The links trace back to Capitalism Gone Wild. You can watch the video in both places, and it’s out at Live Leak. Start really listening closely at the 2:10 mark.

Don’t throw this idea away because it seems like a gold plated tinfoil hat conspiracy theory. This is the modern world, and wars can be waged and won sometimes without firing a shot. And we are involved in a war right now, and it is global, and we have many enemies.

Want another example? Better be glad that no military emergency cropped up in Europe last month.  Because the British and the French air forces and navies weren’t working too well ... because the planes and ships had been brought down by the conficker computer virus. A virus that got inside and started sending all the British military emails to a Russian computer server. But it caught fire right at the same time Russian bombers were “testing” the edges of British airspace. Coincidence?

The UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) confirmed inquiries made by the website The Register that since the 6th of January 2009, “the performance of the MOD IT systems in a number of areas was affected by a virus… This meant that some people were without regular IT access (i.e. email, internet). There have been no infections detected on any networks with sensitive information.”

The Register’s story says that the virus is affecting Royal Navy warships like the carrier HMS Ark Royal.

“The Navy computers infected are the NavyStar (N*) system, based on a server cabinet and cable-networked PCs on each warship and used for purposes such as storekeeping, email and similar support functions. N* ship nets connect to wider networks by shore connection when vessels are in harbour and using satcomms when at sea,” says the story.

Virus sends RAF emails to Russia
The Ministry of Defence is investigating a major breach in security amid claims that all e-mail traffic from a number of RAF stations has been sent to a Russian internet server.

The e-mails were allegedly diverted to the Russian sender by a worm virus that entered the MoD systems 12 days ago bringing down computers and blocking e-mail communications across the military.

Small peanuts? Think how effective and instantaneous a spy system would be if it got BCCed on every email that went through the military. Now, if a virus can get in that can do that, what’s stopping a more malicious virus from doing a bit of harm? Let’s try one out on the French and see what happens ...

French fighter planes grounded by computer virus
French fighter planes were unable to take off after military computers were infected by a computer virus, an intelligence magazine claims.  The aircraft were unable to download their flight plans after databases were infected by a Microsoft virus they had already been warned about several months beforehand. At one point French naval staff were also instructed not to even open their computers.

Microsoft had warned that the “Conficker” virus, transmitted through Windows, was attacking computer systems in October last year, but according to reports the French military ignored the warning and failed to install the necessary security measures.

Sacre bleu! Brought to their knees faster than they could even reach for the white flags! But they rescue a bit of Gallic pride by noting that the British were screwed even worse the month before by the same bug!

The French press also reported that the only consolation for the French Navy was that it was not the only ones to have fallen victim to the virus. It said that a report in the military review Defense Tech revealed that in the first days of January 2009 the British Defence Ministry had been attacked by a hybrid of the virus that had substantially and seriously infected the computer systems of more than 24 RAF bases and 75 per cent of the Royal Navy fleet including the aircraft carrier Ark Royal.

What was 9/11 2001? It was a physical attack against our financial and military control systems. It sure would be illuminating to know what date Kanjorski was really referring to in the video. He states that the meeting was on September 15th, but he starts his explanation of the bank run with “On Thursday, at about 11 o’clock”. September 15th was a Monday. The previous Thursday was September 11th.

Kanjorski - “Someone threw us in the middle of the Atlantic ocean without a life raft. We are trying to determine which is the closest shore and whether there is any chance in the world to swim that far. We don’t know.”

Let’s find that someone. And kill them.

Help!

Okay. Why? I don’t know. Just needed something to do at 4:00 in the morning on my day off. Two words hit my barely functioning brain: YouTube and Photograph.

So, I found this YouTube video of Ringo Starr and his All-Star Band performing Photograph. And I can’t identify any of them. For instance, does Paul McCartney pop in? Is that Billy Preston on keyboard?

And who is that giving good sax to Ringo?

The rest look very familiar. Who’s the guy with the headband? And… is Charlie Daniels in there playing piano?

These guys all look familiar. I’m sad that I can’t actually name them. Help me out.

UPDATE!!!

Chris Edwards says:

The guy with the headband is Mark Knopfler from dire straits.

I thought he was too young but then I found this:

Sorry, embedding disabled by request. Could be Knopfler. He wears a headband.

Cure for the Obama hangover?

The Obama Hangover is the pain a moderate Obama backer is now feeling after having been promised the moon and realizing they have instead . . . been mooned. It’s got to be humiliating watching your Mr. Hope & Change fumble these first few weeks like a leprous teen would his girlfriend’s bra.

That’s a quote from Doug Giles. I’m not too familiar with him, but you have to admit he has a way with a simile. grin

Here’s his ‘cure’:

1. Tell yourself that God still loves you (He doesn’t like you much) even though you’re a culpable dork for this debacle.
2. Go to iTunes and download The Who’s song, “We Won’t Get Fooled Again.” Listen to that about fifty times.
(note: I posted a YouTube live performance at my own blog Something’s Rotten some time ago. Thought of it immediately)
3. Block the MSM and MSNBC on your remote.
4. Start watching Fox News.
5. Read everything Townhall.com posts every day ‘til Christ returns.
6. Repeat step #2.
7. Read Saul Alinsky’s book Rules for Radicals to understand Barack’s verbiage and where he intends to drive this nation.
8. Read Newt’s book, Real Change, Bernie’s book, Slobbering Love Affair, Delingpole’s book, Welcome to Obamaland and Barton’s book, Original Intent.
9. Get a sledgehammer and hit yourself with it.
10. Go look for all our cherished traditional American convictions that made our country great that your threw away and then once again esteem them.
11. Throw away your buttsmacker lip balm.
12. Say “yeah, right” one thousand times.
13. Repeat step #9.
14. Realize that the government is not your friend.
15. Repeat step #2.

We’re in for a rough ride folks. Especially if this Porkulous bull… bill passes. The bill includes national healthcare. After which, going to the doctor will be like Oliver asking for more gruel: “Please Sir. May I have some… healthcare?”

UPDATE:

I almost forgot. The new Obambi logo:

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
