jailed for aiding July 21 bombers

I would like you to check out the link below.  Take a look at these . these, I don’t know exactly what they are.
But NOT human at all.  Go ahead.

Five men jailed for aiding July 21 bombers
By Duncan Gardham
Last Updated: 1:54am GMT 05/02/2008

A judge denounced the “woefully inadequate” sentencing powers in terrorism cases as he jailed the five men who helped the July 21 would-be suicide bombers for a total of 56 years.

Judge Paul Worsley QC said the sentences of between seven and 17 years, dictated by strict guidelines, did not “reflect the enormity” of what the guilty men had done in keeping the plot secret and helping the men who attempted to bomb the London transport system evade justice when their plan went wrong.

He also blamed the men for the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, saying that he would not have been mistaken for one of the bombers and shot by police if the defendants had given up the real bombers instead of hiding them.

Wahbi Mohammed, 25, Abdul Sherif, 30, Siraj Ali, 33, Muhedin Ali, 29, and Ismail Abdurahman, 25, were convicted of a total of 22 charges of failing to disclose information about terrorism and assisting an offender following a four-month trial at Kingston Crown Court in South London.

Mohammed and Siraj Ali were also convicted of having prior knowledge of the plot.

Because prisoners are released after serving half of their sentence, and because they have already served jail time on remand, one of the men, Muhedin Ali, will be eligible for release in just 33 months.

The judge told them: “As this case has unfolded I have reflected that in the event of convictions, the sentences at the disposal of this court are woefully inadequate to reflect the enormity of what you were about in July 2005.”

He said that none of the men had shown any remorse, adding: “I have no doubt that you were each prepared to aid ruthless men and that, in so doing, each of you must have harboured the hope that the bombers would ultimately be successful in their mission to destroy society as we know it, instill fear in its ranks and bring division among peace-loving people.”

advertisementMohammed, the brother of the Oval tube station bomber Ramzi Mohammed, was given the longest sentence – 17 years – after the court heard that he was present as the final preparations were made for the bombings on the morning of July 21.

He took away a video camera used to make the men’s suicide videos and a suicide letter intended for his brother’s family.

After the failed attacks he helped his brother by giving him food and a new mobile phone as he hid with ringleader Muktar Said Ibrahim in north London.

Siraj Ali, the foster brother of Yassin Omar, the Warren Street bomber, was given 12 years for housing Ibrahim while the bombs were being made in Omar’s council flat a floor below in Curtis House, Southgate, north London.

In Ali’s flat police found a notepad on which Ibrahim had set out his plans for “Martyrdom in the Path of God”.

Abdul Sherif, who was jailed for 10 years, is the brother of Hussain Osman, the Shepherd’s Bush bomber.

He later gave Osman his passport, which the bomber used to flee to Italy. Abdurahman, who gave sanctuary to Osman immediately after the failed attacks, was jailed for 10 years, and Ali, a friend of Osman and the Mohammed brothers, hid extremist tapes belonging to Osman and Mohammed’s suicide note.

He was jailed for seven years. Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, who led the hunt for the bombers, described the failure of Mohammed and Siraj Ali to alert the authorities to the 21/7 plot as “despicable”.

All five men, originally from Africa, have leave to remain in the UK but are likely to be deported when they are eventually released.

First They Came for the Smokers..

You know depending on what definition they were to use, anybody other then a toothpick bulemic model would be unable to be legally served in Mississippi… if the law was passed, would Speakeasies open up for Obese people? LOL

JACKSON, Miss. - A state lawmaker wants to ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers — but please, don’t be offended. He says he never even expected his plan to become law.

“I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi,” said Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, who acknowledges that at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, he’d probably have a tough time under his own bill.

More than 30 percent of adults in Mississippi are considered it obese, according to a 2007 study by the Trust for America’s Health, a research group that focuses on disease prevention.

The state House Public Health Committee chairman, Democrat Steve Holland of Plantersville, said he is going to “shred” the bill.

“It is too oppressive for government to require a restaurant owner to police another human being from their own indiscretions,” Holland said Monday.

The bill had no specifics about how obesity would be defined, or how restaurants were supposed to determine if a customer was obese.

Al Stamps, who owns a restaurant in Jackson, said it is “absurd” for the state to consider telling him which customers he can’t serve. He and his wife, Kim, do a bustling lunch business at Cool Al’s, which serves big burgers — beef or veggie — and specialty foods like “Sassy Momma Sweet Potato Fries.”

“There is a better way to deal with health issues than to impose those kind of regulations,” Al Stamps said. “I’m sorry — you can’t do it by treating adults like children and telling them what they can and cannot eat.”

Absolved

Absolved

by Mike Vanderboegh

Phil Gordon felt old, sick, tired and cranky. Cancer did that to you, but he didn’t have to like it. Still, Phil had one more thing to do before crossing the bar and he prayed to the God of Abraham that he would have the time and the strength to do it. He shifted in his recliner, taking in the photographs on the side wall, a life in brief, partially illuminated by the soft glow of the porch light angling in through the windowpane above the front door.

Hippies for Obama … now that’s real change

Grateful Dead To Reunite For Obama Concert

Not to be too sarcastic but I think that would take at least 4 or 5 shovels (Pigpen, Keith, Brent, Jerry, Vince) to truly bring the Dead back together.

This will mark the first time that the members of the legendary band have performed together since 2004. They have agreed to reunite for this one-time-only event in order to lend support to Senator Obama leading into the crucial “Super-Tuesday” series of primaries held on Tuesday, February 5th.

“Deadheads for Obama” will feature Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh & Friends at San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre on Monday night.

It doesn’t look like second drummer Bill Kreutzman will be there, so the three original members - Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Phil Lesh - will be joined by Jackie Greene, John Molo and Steve Molitz.

The concert will be live streamed by IClips starting about 7:30pm PST tonight. It could be a really good show; nobody but nobody can blend rock, country, jazz, and freeform psychadelic music the ways these guys do. But without Jerry, and with Bill not playing, will there be any worthwhile extended space jams? Tune in to see.  It’s almost a guarantee they’ll put on a better show than Tom Petty did last night at halftime.

The Dead also got together to support John Kerry back in 2004, and were part of a post-inauguration fundraiser for Nancy Pelosi in 2007. I really doubt that Obama himself will attend.

Female Muslim medics ‘disobey hygiene rules’

OK, Now before anyone gets upset and says naughty things you must remember.  These are muslims and we MUST have empathy and understanding and blah, blah, blah.

Female Muslim medics ‘disobey hygiene rules’
By Julie Henry and Laura Donnelly
Last Updated: 1:51am GMT 04/02/2008

Muslim medical students are refusing to obey hygiene rules brought in to stop the spread of deadly superbugs, because they say it is against their religion.

Women training in several hospitals in England have raised objections to removing their arm coverings in theatre and to rolling up their sleeves when washing their hands, because it is regarded as immodest in Islam.

Universities and NHS trusts fear many more will refuse to co-operate with new Department of Health guidance, introduced this month, which stipulates that all doctors must be “bare below the elbow”.

The measure is deemed necessary to stop the spread of infections such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile, which have killed hundreds.

Minutes of a clinical academics’ meeting at Liverpool University revealed that female Muslim students at Alder Hey children’s hospital had objected to rolling up their sleeves to wear gowns.

Similar concerns have been raised at Leicester University. Minutes from a medical school committee said that “a number of Muslim females had difficulty in complying with the procedures to roll up sleeves to the elbow for appropriate handwashing”.

Sheffield University also reported a case of a Muslim medic who refused to “scrub” as this left her forearms exposed.

Documents from Birmingham University reveal that some students would prefer to quit the course rather than expose their arms, and warn that it could leave trusts open to legal action.

Hygiene experts said last night that no exceptions should be made on religious grounds.

Dr Mark Enright, professor of microbiology at Imperial College London, said: “To wash your hands properly, and reduce the risks of MRSA and C.difficile, you have to be able to wash the whole area around the wrist.

“I don’t think it would be right to make an exemption for people on any grounds. The policy of bare below the elbows has to be applied universally.”

Dr Charles Tannock, a Conservative MEP and former hospital consultant, said: “These students are being trained using taxpayers’ money and they have a duty of care to their patients not to put their health at risk.

Perhaps these women should not be choosing medicine as a career if they feel unable to abide by the guidelines that everyone else has to follow.”

But the Islamic Medical Association insisted that covering all the body in public, except the face and hands, was a basic tenet of Islam.

“No practising Muslim woman - doctor, medical student, nurse or patient - should be forced to bare her arms below the elbow,” it said.

Dr Majid Katme, the association spokesman, said: “Exposed arms can pick up germs and there is a lot of evidence to suggest skin is safer to the patient if

covered. One idea might be to produce long, sterile, disposable gloves which go up to the elbows.”

3 days to save the republic?

Ann lets fly on Niel Cavuto’s show, continues her ballistic rant on McCain. If the Skipper was still with us, he be getting all worked up ... looks to me like she’s finally put on a couple pounds and her hair looks fabulous, even if the cut is a bit choppy in the front. Sorry Skip, no leg shots in this bit of video.

I don’t want to keep posting on this subject, but the ruckus is still going on. At this point all I can say is: do you research and vote for the better leading candidate in your primary. After that, if things turn out the way Ann envisions, then you’ve got to make up your mind. I honestly thought I’d go GOP no matter what, but I’ve read some more things since last night, and I’m right back to not knowing what I’ll do come November. It’s one thing to be loyal to your party, but what do you do if the party’s final candidate really doesn’t even pretend to carry any parts of the plank? Are all bets off then?

a little update ... some notes from Misha, including McCain haiku:

Whining RINO shills

Handing me a shit sandwich

And I am quite full.

Need more “proof”? McCain gets the endorsement from the LA Times. West Coast Kiss o’ Death? Do you smell a rat in there somewhere perhaps?

Holding on to hope, Romney wins the Maine Caucus.

A deal is a deal? Interesting theory from Daily Pundit.

And I really hope that this is all I have to say about that.

Multiple wives ?  No Problem.  If ur muslim the Brit taxpayer will cover it!

Multiple wives ?  No Problem.  If ur muslim the Brit taxpayer will cover it!

WHAT NEXT? SHARIA LAW?

Multiple wives will mean multiple benefitsBy Jonathan Wynne-Jones
Last Updated: 2:36am GMT 03/02/2008

Husbands with multiple wives have been given the go-ahead to claim extra welfare benefits following a year-long Government review, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal.

Even though bigamy is a crime in Britain, the decision by ministers means that polygamous marriages can now be recognised formally by the state, so long as the weddings took place in countries where the arrangement is legal.

The outcome will chiefly benefit Muslim men with more than one wife, as is permitted under Islamic law. Ministers estimate that up to a thousand polygamous partnerships exist in Britain, although they admit there is no exact record.

The decision has been condemned by the Tories, who accused the Government of offering preferential treatment to a particular group, and of setting a precedent that would lead to demands for further changes in British law.

Oh yeah ... this will apparently cover Hindus and others.  Great system they’ve developed here.

Crivens, Part III - Tis a heavy thing, tae be under a geas

As usual, Rachel Lucas weighs in with some fine writing and delivers a WAKE UP slapdown to the VRWC anti-McCain temper tantrum of this past week. As usual she gets linked from Instapundit, and as usual Bill Whittle provides a really insightful comment.

Damn, I am so jealous. I want to be an internet insider too. Maybe if I was a better writer, or could at least generate some original content. Oh well, I’m just getting started with this bloggy stuff, so give me time.

I had the thought last night that the rabid reaction to McCain this week was akin to the piercing of a boil that has been growing for a long time. A very long time. All the way back to the 1972 oil embargo and the USA “losing” the Vietnam War (after our troops won every single major engagement they fought in and Nixon gave us Peace With Honor and brought the troops home). Frustrations and disappointment with a government that kept moving to the left and acting weak. Living through the embarrassment of Carter and the hostage crisis and his malaise speech (written by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews). It’s been a tough lifetime to be a Conservative in.

Sure, things were looking up when Reagan was in office. But let’s not forget the reality - that the media hammered him 24/7. That his economic policies - Reaganomics - would never work. That he was driving the nation into irreversible debt. That he was bringing on Armageddon and was going to get us all killed in a nuclear holocaust. That old folks, poor folks, and minorities would be left to starve. That he hated gays and thought they deserved the AIDS epidemic. A huge part of the population thought he was nuts. I knew people who were thrilled when he was shot, after being in office only a couple months. The far left was unhinged then too. Yet the economy moved into high gear and he was reelected in 1984. It took the media and the pundits nearly two decades to realize that he was one of our greatest Presidents ever, two decades during which your pointing out this now accepted wisdom got you labeled as a crackpot. Even when the poor old man left this mortal coil, the newsies were just about bleeding through their eyes because they were forced to say something nice about him.

1988 brought us George H.W. Bush and his “kinder and gentler nation” approach. Reagan-lite. 1991 seemed to be the peak of it all, with the decisive campaign in the Persian Gulf War. That was an amazing victory, but I remember screaming at my TV for them to finish the job and oust Hussein. Didn’t happen. After that it seemed like Mr. Bush just coasted along. He just wasn’t trying. And that brought us to the Clinton Years. Weakness followed weakness. And it became popular.

I’m not going to write about the Clintons. If you lived through it as a Conservative, then you know. Let’s just say that it wasn’t a happy time. And somehow, at the end, after all the scandals and disgraces and foolish policy, after all the dirty money schemes and corruption, we came to the 2000 election of Bush vs Gore. And the dishonorable fiasco of “chad”.

The past 7 years have been brutal. BDS on a daily basis. The War On Terror where “you’re either with us, or with the terrorists”, but we don’t seem to be fighting it that hard. Seriously. Yes, our troops are doing a superb job, and I love them for it. But they only go where they’re told to, and they do what they’re told to. From my Conservative viewpoint, the GWoT has been a rather weak willed affair. Remember Fallujah? “Fallujah delenda est”? I would have bombed the place flat in a day as an object lesson. Nope, that fight got put on hold for months. Until just after the next election. Amazing coincidence. Palestine? A weekend for the Marines, and it’s over. Forever. Nope. Instead we now have Condi doing her damnedest to give away the entire nation of Israel so that Bush II can have some kind of “peace legacy”. Like I said, there have been a lot of frustrations as everything has shifted to the left and the will of our leaders has leaked away. I’ll toss in the MSM, “fake but accurate”, bloggers in pajamas, and all the defeatist, treasonous diatribes by Harry Reid and Keith Olbermann and hundreds more like them. Theirs is the “popular wisdom” we’re up against every day. Being a Conservative has not been good for the blood pressure. Take it from me, I live in New Jersey. It really sucks being a Republican these days.

Now we come down to this election cycle. All of the Republican hoped-fors never even made it into the ring. Remember when we thought Colin Powell would make a wise, strong president? Remember when Condi came on the scene and we were all so very impressed by her intelligence and strengths? Neither one turned out to be what we thought. With no clear successor to Mr. Bush available, we went into this cycle (insanely early IMO, which only adds to the stress) with perhaps the biggest group of hopefuls ever. And at this point every single one of the real Conservatives has dropped out. Tancredo was for securing the borders but he turned out to be “a one note pony”. Hunter. Thompson. The other Thompson. All gone. Guiliani, gone. Huckabee, soon to fall off the edge and disappear. Ron Paul, who has some great ideas rattling around in his belfry but can’t express them without sounding unhinged. All the men we felt would stand up for What Is Right ... gone. It’s terrible. So we’re left with two choices: a left leaning RINO who might be crazy, who seems to have a huge amount of left wing money and staff, who has given us some of the worst legislation in modern history, and whom we do not at all believe has seen the light on illegal immigration. And then there’s oily Mitt Romney. Of the two, it looks to me like Mitt is “the lesser of two weevils” and that also adds to the frustration. I didn’t want to have to make that kind of choice this time. Not again. And now McCain, the current media darling, has opened up a modest lead in the primaries. One state. Which means, if you listen to the MSM and their Poll-A-Minute, that it’s all over, and he is the de facto nominee.

Horseshit.

But that horseshit may have been the pin that popped the balloon, the scalpel that lanced the boil. And all the puss and hot air has just burst out. We’ve all had our crazy moment now. Me too! Now I think we’re all feeling a bit better (I’m very glad that nobody is threatening to move to Canada. At least we’re not that stupid), so let’s get back to getting the job done. I’m going to push for Mitt now because I feel I have no other choice. He does have a lot of good qualities, and he has some good positions I can get behind. He isn’t perfect, but neither am I. So I’ll get on board.

And if Super Tuesday turns out to be All Johnny, All The Time, then I’ll have another conniption, but only for a short while because I can see it coming. Then I’ll join the (gag) Straight Talk Express and do what I can. Because, whatever else may be wrong with him, John McCain will not cave on the War on Terror, and those two on the other side - the Socialist and the Anti-Christ - will. Every other issue we can survive, work around, and correct later on. We can not give in to the islamofascists, ever. And that alone will make me vote for McCain if I have to in November.

Crivens part II - oh waily waily waily!*

Emperor Misha says it so well:

If you twats voting for McStain in the primaries really want to know who will be responsible for the Democrat Landslide of ‘08, as it will be known forevermore, you need only walk to the nearest bathroom. Surely you have a mirror in there?

And then reminds everyone that it ain’t over till it’s over, so get out and vote in your primaries. Not for McCain. And don’t be an ass and do a write in for people who’ve already pulled out. It might make you feel a little better, but it’s a wasted vote, and that makes every remaining vote for McCain just a bit stronger. And if/when it turns out that Dear John gets the GOP nomination, Misha tells us how the real knives of the MSM will come out, as the previous post alludes to. And then things will get really really ugly.

He’s certain the Repubelickers are gonna get hammered, and he’s got a Screw Them attitude going ... that I think they deserve. Of course, we get screwed even moreso in the process. Will it “teach them a lesson”? I have my doubts; 2006 didn’t. Even when 1000 VRWC blogs and a million emails were telling them exactly why they lost, they just couldn’t get it.

* The post title is a Nac Mac Feegle reference of course. Like them, I’m dreeing ma wierd right na. So should you.

Crivens!

Atlas Shrugs dishes on the real dirt that could come up in a Clinton - McCain election. Holy crap. Scroll down to the second part where she quotes Dr. Jack Wheeler in How the Clintons Will Destroy McCain.

Ok, I knew about the Huma Abedin thing, and I even alluded to it a few months back. But in today’s world I’m not sure that will hurt Hillary. It may even help. But the stuff on McCain? This is going to be ugly if it gets out ... and uglier if it’s true and provable.

It’s almost enough to make me donate to both Romney and Obama.

Brady group full of nonsense as usual

Latest Bull from Brady

Brady Campaign releases latest “scorecard” on gun laws in the Several States. “Most states lack common sense gun restrictions”; naturally Brady has the exclusive moral high ground to define “common sense”. Which they utterly lack. Funny thing is, the states at the top of their list are also the states with the highest levels of crime, gang violence, and left leaning politics. Too bad they didn’t have the balls to put Washington DC on their list. I cut and pasted the top and the bottom of their list; you can read the whole thing here if you don’t see your state.

image

Officials in most states have done little to keep criminals and other dangerous people from easily obtaining guns, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The new redesigned scorecards are being released today for all 50 states.

Two-thirds of all states score less than 20 points out of 100. Almost half of all states score 10 points or less out of 100.

“We make it too easy for dangerous people to get dangerous weapons. Our gun laws are so weak that, in most states, there are few or no laws to prevent gun violence,” says Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. “This is true at the federal level as well. We need effective gun laws to curb gun violence and illegal gun trafficking.”

My God, the level of stupid here is right off the scales. The entire statement is a compendium of lies. Who buys this bullshit?

“While advocates and officials deserve credit for strong gun laws in states like California, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, even more needs to be done in these, and all, states to ensure that dangerous people don’t have easy access to guns,” said Helmke.

The Brady Campaign scorecards provide a new and redesigned analysis of whether states are enacting the laws needed to protect citizens from gun violence. The new scorecards also show states how their gun laws can be strengthened and their scores improved.

The categories covered by the 2007 scorecards are as follows:

—States can earn up to 35 points by taking all measures needed to “Curb
Firearm Trafficking.” States can fully regulate the gun dealers within
their borders, limit bulk purchases of handguns, provide police certain
technology to identify crime guns, and require lost or stolen guns to
be reported to the police.

—States can earn up to 25 points by “Strengthening Brady Background
Checks.” This involves requiring background checks on all gun sales
and requiring a permit in order to purchase firearms.  Short of
universal background checks, states can also close the gun show
loophole, at least requiring background checks for all gun show sales.

—States can earn up to 20 points by “Protecting Child Safety” when it
comes to guns.  States can require that only childproof handguns be
sold within their borders, require child safety locks to be sold with
each handgun, hold adults accountable for keeping guns away from kids
and teens, and require handgun purchasers to be at least 21 years of
age.

—States can earn up to 10 points by “Banning Military-style Assault
Weapons,” as well as banning high-capacity ammunition magazines.

—States can earn up to 10 points by making it harder to carry “Guns In
Public Places” (except for trained law enforcement and security) and by
allowing localities to “Preserve Local Control” over municipal gun
laws.  This includes keeping guns out of workplaces and college
campuses, not forcing law enforcement to issue concealed handgun
permits on demand, not permitting “shoot first” expansions in self-
defense laws, and not preventing municipalities from passing their own
gun laws.

We acknowledge the research of Legal Community Against Violence on state gun laws. Their publication, “Regulating Guns in America,” and website served as a basis for our analysis. For more information about Legal Community Against Violence, see http://www.lcav.org.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I guess I need to say it yet again. Not a single one of the Brady rating points does a thing to make the lives of law abiding citizens safer. None of them do anything to prevent crime. Many of their points are already covered by federal laws. The child safety locks laws bring the nanny state right into your home and replace responsible parental behavior with state laws. And the “not preventing municipalities from passing their own gun laws” is a Brady wet dream that has failed in the courts time after time after time.

But the Brady idiots do us a nice favor here. Simply read their chart in reverse to see what level of freedom exists in your state.

You sick bastards

Al Qaida shifts from martyrs to murders; retarded women used as remote control bombs

BAGHDAD - Remote-controlled explosives strapped to two mentally retarded women detonated in a coordinated attack on Baghdad pet bazaars Friday, police and Iraqi officials said, killing at least 73 people in the deadliest day since the U.S. sent 30,000 extra troops to the capital this spring.

The chief Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, claimed the female bombers had Down syndrome and that the explosives were detonated by remote control, indicating they may not having been willing attackers in what could be a new method by suspected Sunni insurgents to subvert stepped up security measures.

U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker said the bombings showed that a resilient al-Qaida has “found a different, deadly way” to try to destabilize Iraq.

“There is nothing they won’t do if they think it will work in creating carnage and the political fallout that comes from that,” he told The Associated Press in an interview at the State Department.

The first attack Friday occurred at about 10:20 a.m. in the central al-Ghazl market. The weekly bazaar has been bombed several times since the war started but recently had re-emerged as a popular place to shop and stroll as Baghdad security improved and a Friday ban on driving was lifted.

Four police and hospital officials said at least 46 people were killed and more than 100 wounded. Firefighters scooped up debris scattered among pools of blood, clothing and pigeon carcasses.

About 20 minutes later, a second female suicide bomber struck a bird market in a predominantly Shiite area in southeastern Baghdad. That blast killed as many as 27 people and wounded 67, according to police and hospital officials.

Involving women in fighting violates cultural taboos in Iraq, but the U.S. military has warned that al-Qaida in Iraq is recruiting females and youths to stage suicide attacks because militants are increasingly desperate to thwart stepped-up security measures.

You perverted, sick, putrescent roadkill humping, leprous puss licking, demon spawned bastards. This is a new cowardly low even for the craven likes of A-Q. It’s just as bad as the feral scum that used baby bombs to try and get Bhutto. This is evil. Not pure, not simple, but total. Evil. There are no tortures sufficient to punish those who do this. That it’s done in the name of your pagan religion can hardly make it worse.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
