READ MY LIPS: NO NEW AMNESTY

anncoulter.com

On the bright side, if President Bush’s amnesty proposal for illegal immigrants ends up hurting Republicans and we lose Congress this November, maybe the Democrats will impeach him and we’ll get Cheney as president.

At least Bush has dropped his infernal references to slacker Americans when talking about illegal immigrants. In his speech Monday night, instead of 47 mentions of “jobs Americans won’t do,” Bush referred only once to “jobs Americans are not doing” — which I take it means other than border enforcement and intelligence-gathering at the CIA. For the record, I’ll volunteer right now to clean other people’s apartments if I don’t have to pay taxes on what I earn.

Go read the rest and be glad you’re not in her sights.

imageimageA policeman was interrogating 3 blondes who were training to become detectives. To test their skills in recognizing a suspect, he shows the first blonde a picture for 5 seconds and then hides it. “This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?”

The first blonde answers, “That’s easy, we’ll catch him fast because he only has one eye!” The policeman says, “Well… uh… that’s because the picture shows his profile.” Slightly flustered by this ridiculous response, he flashes the picture for 5 seconds at the second blonde and asks her, “This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?”

The second blonde giggles, flips her hair and says, “Ha! He’d be too easy to catch because he only has one ear!” The policeman angrily responds, “What’s the matter with you two? Of course only one eye and one ear are showing because it’s a picture of his profile! Is that the best answer you can come up with?”

Extremely frustrated at this point, he shows the picture to the third blonde and in a very testy voice asks, “This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?” He quickly adds “… think hard before giving me a stupid answer.” The blonde looks at the picture intently for a moment and says, “Hmmmm… the suspect wears contact lenses.” The policeman is surprised and speechless because he really doesn’t know himself if the suspect wears contacts or not. “Well, that’s an interesting answer… wait here for a few minutes while I check his file and I’ll get back to you on that.”

He leaves the room and goes to his office, checks the suspect’s file in his computer, and comes back with a beaming smile on his face. “Wow! I can’t believe it… it’s TRUE! The suspect does in fact wear contact lenses. Good work! How were you able to make such an astute observation?”

“That’s easy,” the blonde replied. “He can’t wear regular glasses because he only has one eye and one ear.”

The Big Picture

Take this post and slap it into the face of the next Liberal you meet. In fact, feel free to smack them up side their pointy little heads while you’re at it. Oh, and be sure to send it to all MSM outlets that currently participate in the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy (that would be all of them).

All we hear from the MSM is “low morale”, “troop reductions”, “2,000 dead”, “gloom and doom”. It’s time they faced the fact that their anti-American hatred is not working. Thankfully, there are plenty of decent people in this country who believe in America. I congratulate and thank all of them. They have my support no matter what the MSM says. So there!

imageimageAmericans Enlist in Record Numbers
May 16, 2006

In the last seven months, the U.S. Army has met or exceeded all of its recruiting goals. In that time, over 160,000 people have enlisted, or re-enlisted. The total strength of the active duty and reserve forces are 1.2 million men and women, all of them volunteers.

Except for a few months in 2004-5, the military has been able to maintain its strength, despite wartime conditions.

The biggest problem has not been casualties (only about 10,000 soldiers have been killed or disabled so far, less than one percent of overall strength), but the disruption to family life caused by so many troops getting sent to combat zones. This discouraged re-enlistments in reserve units, although mainly among the non-combat troops. In combat units, re-enlistments were at record levels.

The army adapted to the shortfalls by increasing signing and reenlistment bonuses for key jobs, paying attention to not sending troops overseas any more than needed, and allowing a few percent more of the recruits to come from the lower end of the recruit pool.

But the biggest asset in the recruiting effort has been the world-of-mouth from the troops themselves. They believe in what they are doing, and accomplishing. They believe they are well equipped, trained and led to do it. This angle has not gotten much press coverage, probably because so few members of the press know troops personally.

The army recruits largely from the middle classes and non-urban areas. Just the kinds of places and people where you won’t find journalists and pundits. When the media does address the recruiting situation, it is dismissed as not relevant. The troops are described as not “getting the big picture,” or worse.

Angry Mexicans

It’s obvious to me from reading the article below that the Mexicans want a war. They may get it before this is over. In the meantime, we need to do something about the collaborators behind our lines .... businesses who hire illegals. Can we start building the internment camps now?

The Mexicans who are getting their panties in a wad may not realize it but their getting angry only makes the matter worse. The USA is our country, not theirs. We will defend it with whatever means necessary - even if our government won’t. If they want to come here legally, fine. If they continue to escalate the anger on this issue, it could turn into a real shooting war real soon.

Mexicans Denounce Senate Border Plan
May 18, 2006, 5:43 AM EDT

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico (AP)—Mexican lawmakers angrily denounced a measure approved by the U.S. Senate to build new border fences, and illegal immigrants vowed to skirt them and cross into U.S. territory anyway. But the administration of Mexican President Vicente Fox, which had called the fence proposal “shameful” and “stupid” as recently as December, was conspicuously silent after the Senate bill passed Wednesday—perhaps because the measure also opens the door for millions of undocumented Mexicans to achieve some legal status in the United States.

“There are so many of us, most with families and roots in the United States. They are never going to stop us from crossing,” said Julio Cesar Gutierrez, a 21-year-old from the western city of Guadalajara who was planning to swim across the Rio Grande into Texas from the border city of Nuevo Laredo. “We will dig under a wall, go over one. If the authorities over there want a war, we will fight.” Gutierrez, who was wearing a Washington Nationals baseball cap and a backpack carrying bottled water, said he had crossed three previous times and worked as a cook in Houston but was deported each time. “They want to treat migrants like criminals,” he said. “All we want to do is work.”

The Senate agreed to give many illegal immigrants a shot at U.S. citizenship, but also backed construction of 370 miles of triple-layered fencing along the southern border. It is unclear where the new barriers would be built, though some have speculated they could go up in an area that includes Nuevo Laredo, across from Laredo, Texas. The measure, which has yet to clear the House, comes as President Bush continues to flesh out his plans to deploy 6,000 National Guard soldiers along the border to support the Border Patrol. In Mexico City, lawmakers from Fox’s conservative National Action Party and both major opposition parties denounced the initiative.

“It’s a lamentable development and more evidence of a step backward in bilateral relations between Mexico and the United States,” said Inti Munoz, a spokesman for House lawmakers from the leftist Democratic Revolution Party. ”The construction of a wall and the militarization of the border are signs that speak of the absolute failure and lack of Mexican foreign policy.”

Mexican Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez said late Wednesday that the government would not immediately comment on the Senate bill. Just days earlier, the Fox administration was quick to express concern that Bush’s National Guard plan could “militarize” the border region. In December, the Mexican president said extending border walls was “shameful,” and Derbez called a U.S. House proposal to do so “stupid.”

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador—a fiery Fox critic and the Democratic Revolution Party’s presidential candidate in July 2 elections—called the president’s silence on the Senate bill a sign of weakness. “The truth is the federal government and the president have no authority,” Lopez Obrador said Wednesday. “And for that reason, Mexicans who cross the border out of necessity are being humiliated.”

Migrants preparing to cross the border in Nuevo Laredo said they would prefer to climb walls than make dangerous trips through the desert into Arizona and New Mexico, routes that have become popular since U.S. authorities fortified barriers separating San Diego and Tijuana. “In the desert, smoke rises from the ground and you can die while you’re walking,” Gutierrez said. “The river here, even with a wall, is easier.”

Jose Antonio Maldonado, a 16-year-old from Honduras who was trying to make it into the United States illegally for the first time, said he had no family or friends across the border and was unsure where to find work if he succeeded in crossing. “We have withstood days of train rides, risking our lives without eating, without sleeping, to get to the border,” he said, detailing the trip from his homeland. Central Americans traveling without proper documents in Mexico face deportation and often complain of being beaten or extorted by corrupt authorities. “If there were a wall here, or any other obstacle, we’d overcome it,” he said.

Spam Terrorists

Well, the terrorists have won another one. This time it’s the Al-Spama Martyrs Brigade. You know - the dirty rotten rat b**tards who fill your e-mail with crap all day long (I average about 2,000 per day). I use Mailwasher Pro to filter out this junk. Mailwasher uses several services like Spam Cop to organize the war against these evil “insurgents” from Viagrastan and Cialistan.

Mailwasher recently added Blue Frog to the arsenal of weapons to allow coalition forces (you and me) to fight these savages. However, Blue Frog has been whipped by Denial Of Service (DOS) attacks and is throwing in the towel. We are losing this war on terror because Congress will not pass a law against spam and the evil DOS attacks used to intimidate us into ordering a year’s supply of [ fill in the blank ]. This is truly the Asses Of Evil we are facing, people!

Web Attacks End Anti-Spam Effort
Wednesday, 17 May 2006, 15:06 GMT 16:06 UK

TEL AVIV (BBC)—A series of web attacks by spammers have forced a security firm to end an initiative to curb junk mail. Israeli start-up Blue Security used a variety of tactics to make spammers clean up the lists of addresses to which they sent junk mail. The firm also automatically filled in forms on spammers’ websites to get names taken off the mailing lists.

But escalating attacks from spammers annoyed by the initiative’s success has led to its closure. Blue Security set up the Blue Frog anti-spam scheme in July 2005 and since then has signed up more than 500,000 members. The scheme involved users reporting to Blue Security every spam message they received. The security firm would then contact the spammers who sent the mail and ask them to remove the name of that user from their mailing list.

If this method of stopping spam failed, Blue Security would then visit the spammer’s websites advertising the products seen in junk mail and fill in any forms asking for users’ names be removed from the list. This could mean that some spammers’ websites were getting thousands of requests for mailing lists to be cleaned up every day.

Blue Security claimed that the scheme reduced spam for many of those that signed up. The tactic of bombarding spammers’ websites was controversial among many anti-spam workers. The first indication that some junk mailers had taken exception to the anti-spam efforts came in early May when Blue Security was hit by a large so-called Distributed Denial of Service attack.

In such attacks websites get bombarded with huge amounts of data that their servers cannot handle. At the same time some of those that had signed up for Blue Security’s anti-spam system started getting threatening messages. Blue Security realised that if it re-started its anti-spam campaign the attacks would get worse as the spammers seemed to have a huge network of remotely-controlled computers under their control.

“We cannot take the responsibility for an ever-escalating cyber war through our continued operations,” said a statement on Blue Security’s website. As a result the company has decided to discontinue its anti-spam efforts. “We believe this is the responsible thing to do,” said the statement. The company said it would now explore other ways to use its technology although for non-spam uses.

Hump-Day Productivity Enhancer

OK, it’s Wednesday - otherwise known as “Hump Day” because you’ve reached the mountaintop of the work week and it’s all downhill from here. So you’re sitting there in your office bored to tears after finally completing that Powerpoint presentation your insane boss demanded you finish by ... yesterday.

Look around. Do you see the boss anywhere in sight? If not, turn the sound down or put on your earphones and dial it up. You are now about to waste the rest of the day with a little morale booster.

Your mission is to protect your city’s nuclear power plant from invading ... uh ... Iranians. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Iranians. You have a souped-up “Bio-Cannon” and it’s up to you to stand your ground. Assume the defensive position and click the image below. It’ll be 5:00 before you know it. Unless the boss drops by before then ...

Leftist Loon

Noam Chomsky is the poster child for the Looney Left. In fact, he is probably their “prophet” having taken an anti-American position on just about every issue in his books and teachings. He just concluded a trip to Lebanon where he sucked up to Hezbollah and made all kind of wild accusations about the US, Israel and the Hezbollah “freedom fighters”.

All he has accomplished is to further inflame the region and encourage Hezbollah to continue its forty year terrorist war against Israel. As usual, the facts get twisted beyond belief. Chomsky conveniently forgets that the reason Israel invaded Lebanon was because Hezbollah was sitting on the border lobbing missiles and bombs into Israel. Israel finally had enough but Chomsky totally ignores that aspect of the conflict - just as he ignores anything but his own dyspeptic agenda.

Chomsky Hails Hezbollah On TV
Leftist American professor says U.S. leading terrorist state
May 17, 2006 1:00 a.m. Eastern

Hosted by Hezbollah, leftist professor Noam Chomsky ended his visit to Lebanon with a tour of Al-Khiam Prison where he declared the terrorist group’s success in removing Israel from the south was “a victory for all the peoples that fight injustice and oppression.”

In a broadcast by Hezbollah’s Al Manar television Sunday, translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Chomsky was shown embracing Hezbollah leader Nabil Qauq at Al-Khiam, where Israel kept prisoners during its occupation of southern Lebanon. Hezbollah was credited with liberating the area after Israel withdrew in 2000.

The U.S. State Department lists Hezbollah as a “terrorist organization.” Hezbollah Sec.-Gen. Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah frequently calls for destruction of the U.S. In a February speech aired on Al Manar, he led a crowd in chants, “America, America you are the Great Satan … America, America, the enemy of the Muslims … Those who have come at night, like bats, will hear Lebanon saying: Death to America.”

On Saturday, Al Manar quoted Chomsky responding to Hezbollah’s designation by the U.S. as a terrorist state. The professor said that “if the U.S. was to stick to the clear and precise definition of terrorism in its code of laws, it would be the leading terrorist state.”

A reporter asked Chomsky how the U.S. views his visit. “I don’t know what their response will be, and I don’t care,” he said.

- Read the rest at WorldNet Daily...

That last really says it all, doesn’t it? Chomsky doesn’t care what the US thinks of his actions. What he fails to realize is the American people, not just the government, are taking a real dim view of his anti-American hatred. Maybe if he had his citizenship revoked he could stay over in Lebanon, Syria or Iran where I’m sure his views are more properly appreciated and admired.

Verizon Says It Did Not Give Call Records To NSA
May 16, 2006

(USA TODAY)—Verizon Communications this afternoon said that it “was not asked by the (National Security Agency) to provide, nor did Verizon provide, customer records” from any of its telephone businesses “or any call data from those records.” Any media reports that say it did those things “are simply false,” the company stated.

It is the second company to challenge a USA TODAY report Thursday that said three phone companies had assisted the NSA in collecting “call records of tens of millions of Americans.” Late Monday, BellSouth said it had not “provided bulk customer calling records” to the NSA. The third company named by USA TODAY, AT&T, has not commented on whether it assisted the NSA.

A fourth firm, Qwest, has said it was approached by the NSA to take part - but turned down the request. Steven Anderson, USA TODAY’s director of communications, issued a statement this afternoon saying that:

“USA TODAY reported last week that calling records from Bell South and Verizon are part of a National Security Agency database, according to sources with direct knowledge of the program. We’ve read the statements by Bell South and Verizon. We will continue to investigate and pursue the story aggressively.

- More telco obstruction news here ...

This is utter crap. If you go to USA TODAY’S web site from the link above, they will record all kinds of information about you as soon as your browser opens the page. Now who’s spying on who? And while we’re at it, why don’t we just send Osama a Qwest or Verizon calling card? He probably already has one by now. Never mind.

Mexico Threatens Lawsuits Over Guard Patrols
Tue May 16, 5:03 PM ET

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP)—Mexico said Tuesday that it would file lawsuits in U.S. courts if National Guard troops on the border become directly involved in detaining migrants. Mexican border officials also said they worried that sending troops to heavily trafficked regions would push illegal migrants into more perilous areas of the U.S.-Mexican border to avoid detection.

President Bush announced Monday that he would send 6,000 National Guard troops to the 2,000-mile border, but they would provide intelligence and surveillance support to Border Patrol agents, not catch and detain illegal immigrants. “If there is a real wave of rights abuses, if we see the National Guard starting to directly participate in detaining people ... we would immediately start filing lawsuits through our consulates,” Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez told a Mexico City radio station. He did not offer further details.

Mexican officials worry the crackdown will lead to more deaths. Since Washington toughened security in Texas and California in 1994, migrants have flooded Arizona’s hard-to-patrol desert and deaths have spiked. Migrant groups estimate 500 people died trying to cross the border in 2005. The Border Patrol reported 473 deaths in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30. In Ciudad Juarez, Julieta Nunez Gonzalez, local representative of the Mexican government’s National Immigration Institute, said Tuesday she will ask the government to send its migrant protection force, known as Grupo Beta, to more remote sections of the border.

Sending the National Guard “will not stop the flow of migrants, to the contrary, it will probably go up,” as people try to get into the U.S. in the hope that they could benefit from a possible amnesty program, Nunez said. Juan Canche, 36, traveled more than 1,200 miles to the border from the southern town of Izamal and said nothing would stop him from trying to cross.

- More Mexican lawsuit threats here ...

Now I’m really getting angry. They’re going to file lawsuits to force us to let their people invade out country and break our laws? It’s time to say to hell with it and go ahead and invade Mexico - bomb Mexico City to dust, demand surrender ... and steal all the oil. If we’re going to be accused of being bullies we might as well earn the reputation.

“Dying Star: Ant Nebula”
Chandra X-Ray Observatory

This mage shows part of the unfolding drama of the last stages of the evolution of sun-like stars. Dynamic elongated clouds envelop bubbles of multimillion degree gas produced by high-velocity winds from dying stars. In these images, Chandra’s X-ray data are shown in blue, while green and red are optical and infrared data from Hubble.

Planetary nebulas - so called because some of them resemble a planet when viewed through a small telescope - are produced in the late stages of a sun-like star’s life. After several billion years of stable existence (the sun is 4.5 billion years old and will not enter this phase for about 5 billion more years) a normal star will expand enormously to become a bloated red giant. Over a period of a few hundred thousand years, much of the star’s mass is expelled at a relatively slow speed of about 50,000 miles per hour.

This mass loss creates a more or less spherical cloud around the star and eventually uncovers the star’s blazing hot core. Intense ultraviolet radiation from the core heats the circumstellar gas to ten thousand degrees, and the velocity of the gas flowing away from the star jumps to about a million miles per hour.

Disorganized Crime Syndicate

Protection Racket: an extortion scheme whereby a powerful organization, most often a criminal organization or gang, coerces individuals or businesses to pay protection money which allegedly serves to purchase the organization’s “protection” services against various external threats, whereas usually the actual threat comes from the organization itself. Those who do not buy into the protection plan are often targeted by the organization and are harassed to try to force payment of the protection money.

Aksa Brigades Threatens US, Europe
May. 16, 2006 19:28

The Aksa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah, on Monday threatened to strike at US and European interests in response to international sanctions on the Palestinian Authority. The threat, the first of its kind, came as PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was scheduled to hold talks in Moscow with President Vladimir Putin on the severe financial crisis in the PA territories. Moreover, the threat by Abbas’s Fatah party came as Palestinians marked the 58th anniversary of the nakba, or catastrophe (the secular anniversary of Israel’s independence).

“We won’t remain idle in the face of the siege imposed on the Palestinian people by Israel, the US and other countries,” said a leaflet issued by the Aksa Martyrs Brigades in the Gaza Strip. “We will strike at the economic and civilian interests of these countries, here and abroad.” The leaflet added: “Let the entire world know that we won’t succumb in the face of the policy of blackmail, siege and starvation. In the past we did not capitulate in the face of the policy of assassinations, detentions and air raids.”

The group also urged the heads of Arab and Palestinian banks to resist US and Israeli pressure and to agree to transfer funds from Arab and Islamic countries to the PA. Another armed group affiliated with Fatah, the Abu Rish Brigades, threatened to launch a new intifada unless the international community agreed to fund the PA. “This will be a merciless intifada that will destroy everything,” said Abu Haroon, a spokesman for the group in the Gaza Strip.

“We will plan and carry out more martyrdom attacks inside the Green Line regardless of the price and effort,” he warned. “Those who are imposing the sanctions on the Palestinians will soon regret their decision.” Abu Haroon, who was speaking at a rally marking the anniversary of the nakba in Gaza City, accused the US administration and some European and Arab countries of “acting as if they were receiving instructions from the Zionist Knesset.”

Thousands of Palestinians took to the streets throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip to mark Nakba Day. Many carried old keys as symbols of the right of return for refugees to their original homes inside Israel.

- More on the Palestinian Mafia at the Jerusalem Post ...

Professor Speak With Forked Tongue

When we last checked up on Chief Babbling Bulls**t he was travelling around the country stirring up trouble at every leftist organization he could find and defending his public contention that the people killed in the World Trade Center on 9/11 were “little Eichmanns” (Wikipedia: “Adolph Eichmann") and deserved to die.

His teaching schedule at the University Of Colorado had been cut back to only one class while an investigation was underway into charges of plagiarism and misconduct. The investigative committee finally reached a verdict. Guilty. So long, Ward. Enjoy your retirement. Sue if you want. You lawyer will probably speak with a forked tongue also. Those 3,000 innocent souls who perished on 9/11 are at peace. You sir, still have a lot to answer for ...

imageimageColorado Professor Cited for Misconduct
May 16, 2006, 3:14 PM EDT

BOULDER, Colo. (AP)—An investigation of a professor who likened some of the Sept. 11 victims to a Nazi found serious cases of misconduct in his academic research, including plagiarism and fabrications, a University of Colorado spokesman said Tuesday.

One member of the five-person investigative committee recommended that ethnic studies professor Ward Churchill be fired, and four recommended he be suspended, university spokesman Barrie Hartman said.

Churchill, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, declined immediate comment Tuesday.

The professor touched off a firestorm with an essay relating the 2001 terrorist attacks to U.S. abuses abroad. The essay referred to some World Trade Center victims as “little Eichmanns,” a reference to Adolf Eichmann, who carried out Adolf Hitler’s plan to exterminate European Jews during World War II.

University officials had earlier determined Churchill could not be fired for his comments about the terrorist attacks, but they launched an inquiry into allegations about his research.

The committee’s 125-page report said Churchill falsified, fabricated and plagiarized some of his research, did not always comply with standards for listing other authors’ names and failed to follow accepted practice for reporting results.

The decision on his future at the university will be made by school officials later this year. Churchill has said if he is fired, he will sue.

Churchill’s wife, Natsu Saito, who also teaches in the ethnic studies department, said Tuesday she had resigned her tenured teaching position at the school but said she and Churchill have no plans to leave Boulder.

In her resignation letter, Saito accused the university of reneging on promises to her and the department, ignoring racial harassment of the department and individuals, and treating Churchill unfairly. She said her decision to resign was not prompted by the pending report.

Pirate Ballerina has the full scoop and ongoing coverage of Chief Babbling Bulls**t.

Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
