Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown, engines on
Check ignition and may God’s love be with you

Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five,
Four, Three, Two, One, Lift-off

This is Ground Control to Major Tom
You’ve really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it’s time to leave the capsule if you dare

“This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I’m stepping through the door
And I’m floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do

Though I’m past one hundred thousand miles
I’m feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much (she knows!)
Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear....

“ am I floating round my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do.?

MEMO: No, this is not a photoshopped image. It’s the real deal. NASA Bulletin follows:

Free Flying Orbital EVA

Mission Specialist Bruce McCandless II, is seen further away from the confines and safety of his ship than any previous astronaut has ever been. This space first was made possible by the Manned Manuevering Unit or MMU, a nitrogen jet propelled backpack. After a series of test maneuvers inside and above Challenger’s payload bay, McCandless went “free-flying” to a distance of 320 feet away from the Orbiter. This stunning orbital panorama view shows McCandless out there amongst the black and blue of Earth and space.

At about 100 meters from the cargo bay of the space shuttle Challenger, Bruce McCandless II was further out than anyone had ever been before. Guided by a Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU), astronaut McCandless, pictured above, was floating free in space. McCandless and fellow NASA astronaut Robert Stewart were the first to experience such an “untethered space walk” during Space Shuttle mission 41-B in 1984. The MMU works by shooting jets of nitrogen and has since been used to help deploy and retrieve satellites. With a mass over 140 kilograms, an MMU is heavy on Earth, but, like everything, is weightless when drifting in orbit. The MMU was replaced with the SAFER backpack propulsion unit.

Most Ridiculous Item Of The Day

THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY! I don’t think I could stand much more of this kind of silliness and outright asinine behavior from the pitiful (and slightly deranged) hairless apes on planet Earth. It was bad enough when the Muslims got all offended and jihad-stompin’ over Mohammed cartoons but the following literally takes the cake. Chinese getting offended by satirical sendups of Chairman Mao? In New Zealand? Key quote: ”Chairman Mao is like Jesus to us.”

imageimageStudents See Red Over Mao Send-Up
18 May 2006

NEW ZEALAND (MANUWATU STANDARD)—A mob of angry Chinese students protested at Massey University yesterday after Chairman Mao was lampooned on the cover of the student newspaper. Students likened the cover of Chaff, which this week satirises women’s magazine Cosmopolitan, to the anti-Muslim cartoons circulated around the world in February.

Tempers flared outside Massey’s library as about 50 Chinese Massey and UCOL students and a Chinese lecturer confronted Chaff staff. Students said the issue is racist and the last straw, as many have also suffered verbal abuse on the streets of Palmerston North.

Tianxiang Mao said it was common for Asian students to be lambasted with racial slurs when driving. “People yell `F-ing Asians’ when we are in the car driving down the road. I don’t say anything. What can I do?” UCOL student Xing Tang said Chaff staff are ignorant of Chinese culture.

“Chairman Mao is like Jesus to us,” he said on the verge of tears. “We pay $20,000 in fees and a Musa fee (which funds Chaff) and this is how we are treated.” Student Ronnie Cao likened the cover to the anti-Muslim cartoons.

“This is discrimination against us.” It will have a huge effect on New Zealand’s reputation, Mr Cao said. However, compared with the United States, New Zealand is still considered a safe place for Chinese parents to send their children, he said. Yang Chenglin said students are proud of their Chinese culture.

“Mao gave us independence. He’s no more a killer than George Washington or George W Bush. “He is the father of China - without Mao, there is no China.” Mao Zedong, or Chairman Mao, was the founder of the People’s Republic of China and one of the most prominent figures in Chinese history.

He is also revered as a great spiritual leader and cultural symbol. Students gathered in tight circles outside the library yesterday, signing a petition demanding an apology. Students also want remaining copies pulled out of circulation. Tensions flared as agitated students confronted Chaff editor Edrei Valath and news editor Matt Russell.

“It was an arbitrary decision to run the cover of Mao,” Mr Russell said, adding it was intended as a joke. “We were looking for a picture of Marx or Lenin and we couldn’t use Castro because he had a beard and it just didn’t work. I didn’t think it would offend.” Mr Valath said students are “enraged for the sake of being enraged”.

- Believe it or not, there’s even more of this silliness here ...

That’s it. I’m throwing in the towel on humans. Actually, I’m going to take my towel, flip the switch on my Intergalactic Thumb and see if I can hitch a ride on the nearest Vogon cruiser. Vogon poetry makes more sense than humans ... and my android Marvin is much more cheerful. Adios!

A Lesson In Racism

Senator Harry Reid, while thoughtfully ignoring Iran’s latest quackery requiring non-Muslims to wear badges to identify them has, on the other hand, decided that making English the official language in America is racist ...

Senate Endorses English As National Language In A Symbolic Stand
Thursday, May 18, 2006

WASHINGTON (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS)—In an impassioned debate laden with symbolism, the Senate voted 63-34 Thursday to declare English the national language as it continued to debate legislation that would put millions of illegal immigrants on track to U.S. citizenship.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., denounced the amendment as racist and joined other opponents in warning that it could undercut long-established civil rights law. The amendment’s lead sponsor, Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., bristled at the assertion, saying the proposal would unify the nation’s increasingly diverse population and wouldn’t dismantle existing legal protections.

The first Senate vote on the issue in more than two decades illuminated the emotional divisions over Congress’ efforts to craft legislation to deal with as many as 12 million immigrants who’ve entered the country illegally in search of better-paying jobs.

- More Democratic nonense here ...

Senator Reid is like all the rest of the Democrats in thinking that they can get away with playing the race card, even where it is not warranted and ignoring true racism in a country that has expressed a desire to destroy the United States. In order to educate Senator Reid, we present the following example of “racist”. Please do not giggle as you read this. Senators Reid, Kennedy, Kerry and Biden will have you arrested and shot if you do.

Mexican Family

A Mexican family crosses over the border to the Land of Milk and Honey where the streets are paved with gold. But the husband can find no work.

His family is hungry, so he takes a walk to a quiet place at the foot of a big hill, kneels at the base of a tree, and begins to pray: “Sweet Jesus, please show me a way to feed my family...”

Eyes closed, the Mexican does not see the BLACK man coming over the top of the hill, who is stumbling wildly with a broken grocery sack. When the Mexican man opens his eyes, a large wheel of cheddar cheese rolls down the hill an lands at his feet!

“Oh, thank you Jesus, thank you!” he cries, grabs the cheese, and runs straight home. Upon returning home, he gives the cheese to his wife and instructs her to make nachos.

“But wouldn’t you rather have cheese enchiladas and burritos and other things?” she inquires. “No,” the husband says, “Jesus sent this to me with a message… As I ran home,

I kept hearing Him yell, ‘ THAT’S NACHO CHEESE! THAT’S NACHO CHEESE!’

Don’t blame me for the above. All I did was Google for “racist jokes” and Google obliged by returning 3,110,000 hits. I’m shocked!

Breaking News: Revolt At Gitmo

Jay at StopThe ACLU has the scoop on a breaking news story ....

Prisoners wielding improvised weapons clashed with guards trying to stop a detainee from committing suicide at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the military said Friday.

The fight occurred Thursday in a medium-security section of the camp as guards were responding to the fourth attempted suicide that day at the detention center on the U.S. Navy base, said Cmdr. Robert Durand.

Detainees used fans, light fixtures and other improvised weapons to attack the guards as they entered a communal living area to stop a prisoner who was trying to hang himself, Durand said.

A Real Shootin’ War

Remember, a few days ago I told y’all that this would be turning into a real shootin’ war real soon? Don’t say I didn’t told’ja so ...

imageimageSan Diego Border Reopens After Shooting
May 19, 2006, 9:36 AM EDT

SAN DIEGO (AP)—The world’s busiest border crossing reopened early Friday following a nine-hour closure that occurred after federal authorities shot and killed the driver of a sport utility vehicle headed for Mexico, officials said.

The shooting on Interstate 5 around 3:30 p.m. Thursday was about 50 feet north of the San Ysidro Port of Entry, which links Tijuana, Mexico with San Diego. The crossing reopened around early Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, said Maurice Luque, a spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. No other injuries were reported.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents began following the black SUV after somebody reported seeing it pick up suspected illegal immigrants near the U.S. side of the Otay Mesa border crossing, said Lt. Kevin Rooney of San Diego Police Department.

As traffic backed up near the border, the vehicle stopped on the shoulder. When agents approached and tried to get the driver to step out of the SUV, the suspect “began to drive off and he veered hard to the left, trying to get back in traffic,” Rooney said. Two agents then opened fire, he said.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the driver was armed. Five passengers, whose identities were not released, were taken into custody, Rooney said. Anna Valderrama of Tijuana, Mexico, who was about four vehicles back when the shooting occurred, said she was stuck in her car for more than two hours. “I was going to eat with my family,” said Valderrama. “I feel desperate to go home.”

Time to start stockin’ up on ammo, folks.
The border war is about to begin in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 ....

Those Who Forget The Past …

OK. Enough is enough. Does anyone out there doubt for even a second now that the Iranian leaders are complete whackos ... and completely evil at that. What is it going to take before the rest of the world wakes up and smells the ovens?

Must you all wait until the news is filled with Iranian trains filled with Jews and Christians headed for some unknown “camp”? If you have already forgotten where this kind of behavior by a fascist government leads then ... shame on you.

The nations of the world can stop it now by working together or you can all sit back and just wait for the genocide to begin. Just don’t be surprised when we next hear news from Iran about “Die Kristallnacht” ....

imageimageIran Eyes Badges For Jews
Law would require non-Muslim insignia
Friday, May 19, 2006

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country’s Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims. “This is reminiscent of the Holocaust,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. “Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis.”

Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical “standard Islamic garments.” The law, which must still be approved by Iran’s “Supreme Guide” Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims.

Iran’s roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth. “There’s no reason to believe they won’t pass this,” said Rabbi Hier. “It will certainly pass unless there’s some sort of international outcry over this.”

Bernie Farber, the chief executive of the Canadian Jewish Congress, said he was “stunned” by the measure. “We thought this had gone the way of the dodo bird, but clearly in Iran everything old and bad is new again,” he said. “It’s state-sponsored religious discrimination.” Ali Behroozian, an Iranian exile living in Toronto, said the law could come into force as early as next year.

It would make religious minorities immediately identifiable and allow Muslims to avoid contact with non-Muslims. Mr. Behroozian said it will make life even more difficult for Iran’s small pockets of Jewish, Christian and other religious minorities—the country is overwhelmingly Shi’ite Muslim. “They have all been persecuted for a while, but these new dress rules are going to make things worse for them,” he said.

The new law was drafted two years ago, but was stuck in the Iranian parliament until recently when it was revived at the behest of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. A spokesman for the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa refused to comment on the measures. “This is nothing to do with anything here,” said a press secretary who identified himself as Mr. Gharmani. “We are not here to answer such questions.”

The Simon Wiesenthal Centre has written to Kofi Annan, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, protesting the Iranian law and calling on the international community to bring pressure on Iran to drop the measure. “The world should not ignore this,” said Rabbi Hier. “The world ignored Hitler for many years—he was dismissed as a demagogue, they said he’d never come to power—and we were all wrong.”

Murtha Maroon

image

There is no reason to respect Time Magazine for digging into this story. The liberals at that rag care nothing about giving aid and comfort to the enemy and would love nothing better than to dishonor the military. John Murtha, on the other hand, should know better. I could respect his opinion a whole lot more if he kept this out of the media and kept his damned mouth shut until the investigation is finished. This is grandstanding on his part and he knows it.

Murtha: Marines Killed Haditha Civilians In Cold Blood
Thursday, May 18, 2006

Rep. John Murtha, an influential Pennsylvania lawmaker and outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, said today Marines had “killed innocent civilians in cold blood” after allegedly responding to a roadside bomb ambush that killed a Marine during a patrol in Haditha, Iraq, Nov. 19. The incident is still under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Multi-National Forces Iraq.

The Marine Corps originally claimed that a convoy from the Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, hit a roadside bomb that killed Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, 20, of El Paso, Texas, and the ensuing firefight killed 15 Iraqi civilians — casualties the Corps at first claimed were killed in the bomb blast — including seven women and three children.

A March 27 Time magazine report published claims by an Iraqi civil rights group that the Marines barged into houses near the bomb strike, throwing grenades and shooting civilians as they cowered in fear. The report prompted calls for a Pentagon probe. “It’s much worse than was reported in Time magazine,” Murtha, a Democrat, former Marine colonel and Vietnam war veteran, told reporters on Capitol Hill.

“There was no firefight. There was no [bomb] that killed those innocent people,” Murtha explained, adding there were “about twice as many” Iraqis killed than Time had reported. No official investigation report has been released by the Pentagon and a spokesman for Murtha was unable to add to the congressman’s remarks.

“I do not know where Rep. Murtha is obtaining is information,” said Lt. Col. Sean Gibson, a spokesman for Marine Corps Forces Central Command in Tampa, Fla. “Thoroughness will drive the investigation.”

Three Marine officers from the battalion that is under investigation, including battalion commander Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, were relieved April 7 for “lack of confidence in their leadership abilities stemming from their performance during a recent deployment to Iraq.” Officials would not tie those firings to the Haditha investigation, however. The two other Marines who were relieved, Capts. Luke McConnell and James Kimber, were company commanders within the battalion.

Barking Moonbat(s) Of The Week

Quick! Which one is stupider? Jennifer for acting like a loon and disappearing on a bus into the night or John for taking the stupid beeyatch back when she was apprehended? My money is on John. The poor schmuck ain’t got the brains God gave a billy-goat if he ever thought things were gonna work out with this dame. Either way, we think this duo should share the award this week for making it into the news one more time. Anyone want to take bets on whether this is the last time we’ll hear from Jennifer? I didn’t think so. Stay tuned ....

Thursday May 18, 2006 3:00pm EST

A year ago Jennifer Wilbanks bolted into tabloid infamy as the “Runaway Bride” when she faked her own kidnapping for three days on the eve of her wedding in Duluth, Ga.

To the amazement of many, fiancé John Mason quickly took her back, with the couple even moving into a large new home in an Atlanta suburb and talking about taking a second run at marriage.

But in early May Mason’s camp let it be known that any nuptials were off – and suddenly the woman who couldn’t take “I do” for an answer seems to be having a problem with “I don’t.”

“I’m not confirming or denying the breakup,” Wilbanks, 33, told PEOPLE May 14. “John and I have some things to work out.”

But to Mason’s family and friends there is no doubt that this time the split is for good. “I think John realized there were some fundamental differences in their personalities that he wasn’t going to be able to deal with,” a friend says of Mason, 33, who runs his family’s Duluth medical-care business.

Oops!

Life Lesson #488: the key to covering up a prison execution is to have a ready excuse (and an alibi) handy beforehand. Not that I might accuse anyone of actually wanting to see Moussaoui dead. Nuh-uh. Not me. I’m just sayin’ ....

Staffing at Famed Supermax Prison Low
May 18, 2006, 9:17 PM EDT

DENVER (AP)—The federal prison dubbed the nation’s most secure has dangerously low staffing levels, making it more difficult to guard notorious criminals such as Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and the Unabomber, a union representing its guards said Thursday. Staffing was reduced at Supermax in February 2005 and shortly after, two inmates were killed in two separate incidents, according to the American Federation of Government Employees.

The slayings were the first since the prison 90 miles southwest of Denver opened in 1994 with a staff of 220 that has now dwindled to 185, the union said. The prison houses about 400 of the nation’s most violent and disruptive inmates, including Eric Rudolph, Ted Kaczynski and Terry Nichols on “bombers’ row.” “I feel that we do protect society from convicted terrorists. Once our resources are actually diminished then it makes it a little harder to do that,” correctional officer and local union president Jeff Johnson said following an arbitration hearing to discuss the union’s complaints.

Krista Rear, a spokeswoman for Supermax, couldn’t immediately confirm the union’s staffing figures but said that overall staffing at federal prisons has decreased. She said the cuts were made to make operations more efficient and effective but that safety hasn’t been compromised. “At no time is the public in danger as a result of having fewer staff here. All our security measures and procedures are able to be fully followed with the numbers of staff that we have,” Rear said.

Unlike state prisons, Rear said that all employees at federal prisons like Supermax—from nurses to secretaries—are trained to respond to emergencies within the prison and know how to use a shotgun, an M-16 rifle, and a 9mm handgun. According to the union, decreased staffing has increased tensions between guards and prisoners, leading threats to guards to double from 55 between March 2004 and 2005 to 110 between March 2005 and 2006.

Johnson said prisoners are sometimes being denied privileges like recreation breaks and telephone calls because there aren’t enough guards and that causes more tension. Rear said the prison didn’t keep track of the number of threats against guards, only assaults. She said she wasn’t aware of anyone being denied privileges. Moussaoui entered the triangular, two-story prison last week. Prisoners are kept isolated in soundproofed, 7-by-12 foot cells. Each cell has a long, narrow window looking out at other prison walls or the small concrete recreation yard.

Through The Looking Glass

“Unsung Heros”
U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Rachel Walters

This photo does not depict a glamorous sunset or beach. It was taken far from any national park or observatory but it means something special to me. My father enlisted in the US Army in December, 1941 and was placed in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic. During WWII, he kept the bombers flying and also manned a machine gun in the belly of those same bombers as they drove the Nazis back.

Through the Korean War and later Vietnam, the old man went from props to jets, learning each new technology as it came along. I remember seeing him sitting up at night reading thick volumes of new maintenance manuals. Sometimes he’d still be there when we got up next morning to go to school. Dad only had a Sixth Grade education, coming from a poor South Alabama sharecropper’s family during the depression but that son of a gun could fine tune a sophisticated Pratt & Whitney jet engine in no time flat. I know. I watched him do it on frequent trips to the flight line with him.

And when the hot-shot pilots came bouncing in to take their birds out to play they all treated the old man with the highest respect. I remember wondering why Colonels, Majors and Captains were so respectful and friendly with a lowly Tech Sergeant. As I grew older, I gradually came to understand why. He literally held their life in his hands ... and they knew it.

It’s one thing to sit in a cockpit and keep an eye on a dozen gauges and manage a joystick and two pedals. It’s something else entirely to remember everything about thousands of hydraulic lines, electric wires, machine tolerance and the milllion things an aircraft mechanic has to remember to make sure his pilot comes back alive.

You won’t see these guys like my dad or Staff Sgt. Ronald Broughton, 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron C-17 propulsion technician, shown here working on a C-17 Globemaster III jet engine, in some movie like “Top Gun”. That does not alter the fact that for every fancy pilot you see, there are literally dozens of troops like this keeping the birds in the air.

Question: which one do you you think has more intelligence (a) a journalist who denigrates the troops, spends his time at a safe hotel bar and only needs to know how to write a few words to get paid; (b) a Hollywood actor activist who hates the military and only has to remember how to memorize a script; or (c) this man who has to keep straight millions of parts in a modern jet airplane where the slightest mistake means someone will die?

The answer is easy: when my Dad retired after thirty years as a Chief Master Sergeant, they held the going away party at the Officer’s Club and the old man never paid for a single drink. I did have to help carry him home though. I felt honored to do so.

Google Releases BMEWS From Prison!!

FINALLY! Google has decided that this blog is not guilty of any major crimes against humanity (in spite of complaints from several parties unknown - hmmmm). It has taken a while to get the Barking Moonbat Early Warning System re-listed on Google due to their being distracted by a threat from another quarter.

It seems that Dilbert created a new search engine to compete with Google.

This threw the evil minions at Google into a frenzy and they had to invent a death ray to get rid of Dilbert.

That created a new problem at Google headquarters as they didn’t want anyone to know they rubbed out Dilbert so it had to look like an accident.

The only problem the Google gang had at that point was they did not know the secret location of Dilbert’s house. This is where I came into the picture.

I quickly realized that the only way I could get Google to hurry up and clear me of all charges against me would be for me to rat out Dilbert and Dogbert and disclose Dilbert’s undisclosed secret location. I confess. I broke and gave them exact coordinates.

They quickly released this blog from search engine prison and our rankings and traffic immediately shot up again this morning. Speaking of “shot up” ....

I sincerely hope Scott Adams will forgive me. I had to do it, Scott. It was either you or me. Please don’t be angry ...

The Hildabeast Solves Abortion Problem

The gospel according to Hillary: get rid of Conservatives (a.k.a. “right-wing ideologues") and the abortion problem will be solved. It is the evil neo-cons who are withholding contraception who are to blame for the rising abortion rate.

Does this woman ever stop blathering long enough to actually listen to what she is saying? Only Babs Streisand manages to come close to the ridiculous accusations this woman constantly throws out there. If right-wingers won’t let people have condoms, birth control pills or common sense (two of which are readily available practically everywhere in this country - even though the third is in short supply in blue states) then why are those same right-wingers so against abortion.

As usual, the Hildabeast’s logic totally escapes me. This whole “vast right-wing conspiracy” gig is getting kinda tired and lame, if you ask me. If anything, there is a true “vast left-wing conspiracy” going on around here and they don’t want any competition. So why don’t we all help the Hildabeast. Take all your used condoms, carefully wash them, wrap them nicely and send them to Hillary. Explain to her that you want to help her cause and that Al Gore told you to recycle so you’re just doing your part to save the women and the planet. A true Liberal “two-fer” ....

imageimageHillary Clinton: Right Wingers to Blame for Abortion
Wednesday, May 17, 2006 11:07 p.m. EDT

2008 White House hopeful Hillary Clinton is blaming right wing “ideologues” for denying women access to contraceptives - leaving them no choice but to end their unwanted pregnancies with abortion.

The move to withhold contraceptives “was started by a small group of extreme ideologues who claim the right to impose their personal beliefs on the overwhelming majority of the American people,” Clinton declared in an e-mail to supporters on Wednesday.

“They’re waging this silent war on contraception by using the power of the White House and their right-wing allies in Congress,” she complains, adding, “and so far, they’re getting away with it.”

So just how are these right wing ideologues driving up the abortion rate? Clinton explains: “Low-income women, denied access to contraception, are having more unwanted pregnancies - four times as many as those for higher income women. And almost half of all unwanted pregnancies end in abortions.”

The former first lady didn’t explain, however, why - in places like New York City, where high school nurses’ offices distribute candy-flavored condoms - the abortion rate continues to soar.

In January, for instance, the New York Daily News reported: “For every 100 babies born in New York City, women had 74 abortions in 2004, according to newly released figures that reaffirm the city as the abortion capital of the country ... That means 40 out of 100 pregnancies in the city ended in a planned abortion - almost double the national average of 24 of 100 pregnancies in 2002.”

- More drivel from the Hildabeast at NEWSMAX ...

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
