A bit of confusion on my part here ... noticed a story that’s news this weekend that seemed to be news more than 2 years ago. What gives?
Gosh golly, those darned minority students. They seem to get in far more trouble in school than their raw numbers would imply.
So to fix this, DOJ boss Eric Holder and DOE boss Arne Duncan have a solution ... it seems they want the rules applied more leniently to those special kids. It couldn’t possibly be that those feral rodents are disprespectful violent problem kids, it has to be the system. Because racist!!
[Jan 8 2014] Holder’s New School Discipline Guidelines: Stop Targeting Minorities
The Obama administration is urging schools to abandon overly zealous discipline policies that civil rights advocates have long said lead to a school-to-prison pipeline that discriminates against minority students.
The wide-ranging series of guidelines issued Wednesday in essence tells schools that they must adhere to the principle of fairness and equity in student discipline or face strong action if they don’t. The American Civil Liberties Union called the recommendations “ground-breaking.”
“A routine school disciplinary infraction should land a student in the principal’s office, not in a police precinct,” Attorney General Eric Holder said.
Holder said the problem often stems from well intentioned “zero-tolerance” policies that too often inject the criminal justice system into the resolution of problems. Zero tolerance policies, a tool that became popular in the 1990s, often spell out uniform and swift punishment for offenses such as truancy, smoking or carrying a weapon. Violators can lose classroom time or become saddled with a criminal record.

Ok fine. Well, not fine. This is typical, absolute racism on part of this administration. There is not one word in here about dumping the whole idiotic Zero Tolerance crap thing. Come on, did you really expect anything different? From Eric “my people” Holder? And from Obama, The Great Divider? The only amazing thing here is that Arne Duncan is white. Oh wait ... he ran the Chicago Public School system prior to coming to DC. uh hyuh, never mind. So this is just another case of “rewarding my friends and punishing my enemies”.

[Feb 27 2012] Holder targets school discipline practices: ‘unacceptable,’ ‘destructive’
“We’ve often seen that students of color, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and students with special needs are disproportionately likely to be suspended or expelled,” Holder said in Atlanta, Ga.
“This is, quite simply, unacceptable. … These unnecessary and destructive policies must be changed,” Holder said at the meeting, which was hosted by 100 Black Men of Atlanta Inc.
Holder attributed his claim of racial disparity in school discipline to a 2011 study that he said showed “83 percent of African American male students and 74 percent of Hispanic male students ended up in trouble and suspended for some period of time.”
However, Holder’s speech ignored the report’s conclusion that 59 percent of white males are also disciplined. He ignored other data suggesting that the different discipline rates roughly align with actual schoolyard behavior.

Holder’s speech reflects a growing demand by government-funded professionals for federal government intervention to ensure that school officials discipline students in each racial or ethnic group at roughly the same rates, without regard to classroom behavior.

Principles of Equity?? “Behavioral psychologist John Stacey Adams originally developed equity theory in 1963. Adams’ theory states that, when people feel they are being treated fairly, they are more likely to be motivated to do good work; when they feel unfairly treated, they may not only be demotivated but actually may become purposely disruptive.
Funny, this sounds more like the illogical “Equal Rights means Equal Results” nonsense that the Left inhales. I don’t think equity or inequity has anything to do with it. Break the rules; expect punishment. Period.
But why is this new news again? Did it take these schlumps 30 months to figure out what they wanted to say on a press release??

I hate math problems like this
There’s an old, old, geometry question that goes like this:
A bear walks 10 miles due South. He then walks 15 miles due West. He then walks 10 miles due North, and is back in the exact same spot he started from. What color is the bear?*
Now there’s a modern version, one that’s unfortunately true:
A guy gets killed at the local convenience store and dies in the doorway. Customers continue to shop in the store, walking over his dead body, for the next 5 minutes, not even glancing in his direction, until somebody notices he’s dead. What color are the customers, the victim, and the killer?

Recently released surveillance footage shows the moment Jheryl Wright was shot and killed in the doorway of a Kalamazoo convenience store — and the five minutes customers walked over his body to get in and out.
The mother of a Michigan man shot and killed in front of a Michigan store was outraged to learn that customers continued to walk over his body for about five minutes before anyone called for help.
Jackel Wright told WWMT-TV that she recently learned of footage from a security camera inside the Quick Stop store in Kalamazoo that shows the moment her son, Jheryl Wright, was gunned down as he walked out the door in September 2012.
But after the 24-year-old man collapsed, several customers continued to walk in and out of the store — stepping over the wounded man’s body to get through the door.
“When they told me people were still coming in that gas station, stepping over my child in the doorway, I couldn’t believe it,” the teary-eyed mother told the news station.

The shocking clip — which was released during the trial of Clarence Ross, who was convicted last week of Wright’s murder — also shows the clerk continue to deal with customers even after he glances down at Wright’s body.
Ross, 32, was found guilty of open murder, solicitation of murder and felony use of a firearm. He was slated to be sentenced on Jan. 13.
Kalamazoo Michigan is about halfway between Chicago Illinois to the West and Detroit Michigan to the East.
As if this wasn’t bad enough … it gets worse. Over in Wichita Kansas ...
On Sunday, December 29, 43-year-old Danielle Zimmerman suffered a brain aneurysm after she pulled into the parking lot of Taco Bell in the 3700 block of East Harry. As she lay unconscious in her SUV, her purse, iPhone and wedding ring were stolen. She died at a local hospital the next day.
Children sledding later found her discarded purse near I-135 and Mount Vernon, but several credit cards, cash, phone and wedding ring were still missing.
Monday morning, police announced that they arrested two 19-year-old men in connection to the theft. Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, the men were arrested Friday night in the 1600 block of South Broadway.
Quanique Dontrell Thomas-Hameen was booked for robbery, failure to appear and driving while suspended. Daquantrius Shaquill Johnson was booked for robbery, possession of a firearm and probation violation.
OMG, I can’t even pronounce those “names”.

Was not going to boot today .... it’s a bit late now. Thing is .... I could not avoid it after seeing the headlines and reading the accounts and hearing the news on radio.
Two yrs ago you will all be aware ... this country went thru days of riots and looting and buildings burning and muggings and robberies and outright violent assaults of many innocent bystanders. And there was death as well. City after city was torched, and the excuse used by the vermin out having fun was the police shooting of .... A, a white guy .... B, one of those protected others of a darker hue.
Yeah. Right.
Why the F*** is it that cops are NEVER given the benefit of the doubt, even when confronted by criminals? Whatever.
I do not have a crystal ball but my bet is that there might be some trouble brewing by those who could care less about another dead black gang member, who want a new TV or iPad or whatever else their tiny hearts and minds desire, and some hard core idiot white folks who dream of being black and want to show how multi cultural and diverse they are, and the usual anarchists who always take advantage of this kind of thing.
Well as you realize here the deceased is in the news again, because a jury has brought in a verdict in favor of the policeman who shot the vermin dead. He had seconds to make that decision and yet ..... one damn fool asked the question, and I am not making this up,

What was carefully omitted was the fact the one of Duggan’s uncles was the late Desmond ‘Dessie’ Noonan, whose feared family are ‘major players’ in the Manchester underworld.
He was a senior member of North London’s notorious Tottenham ManDem gang, which traded in violence, intimidation and drugs.
In the eight years before his death, Duggan was repeatedly arrested over a raft of serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder and a range of firearms offences.
his mother Pamela, 55, maintains he was a ‘lovely young boy’ who tried to keep peace.
Last night she refused to accept the jury’s verdict, claiming he was a peacemaker, was not in a gang and was no danger to the public.
It is a picture put forward by Duggan’s family and supporters ever since England burned during days of widespread disorder in the summer of 2011.
Back then, few knew of his association with some of the most feared criminals in Europe.

A judge took the highly unusual step of leading his court in a moment’s silence to commemorate Mark Duggan, the alleged gangster whose death sparked the 2011 riots which scarred Britain.
Judge Keith Cutler, sitting at Duggan’s inquest, asked everyone inside the courtroom to fall silent and to acknowledge the ‘regrettable loss of a young life’.Later the inquest heard Duggan was a member of one of Britain’s most notorious gangs and was shot by a police marksman who believed the suspect was about to fire a revolver in a crowded street.
Judge Cutler, sitting as a coroner at the High Court, led the 20-second silence by lowering his head and clasping his hands together.
Addressing the jury, he said: ‘It is right that you should know that present in court today are a number of Mark Duggan’s family and friends and to acknowledge the grief of those family and friends and to respect that loss we will together just have some moments of silence as we sit here to recognise the seriousness of the hearing for which we are about to undertake.’The request for a moment’s silence was understood to have been made by Duggan’s family and supporters.

Just another weekend in DC
DC Police, Secret Service investigating drive-by shooting just steps from White House
Businesses near the White House were riddled with bullets in a two-block drive-by shooting this weekend, prompting a Secret Service investigation.
Two of those bullets entered the window and hit the walls inside Brewood Engravers & Printers at 1701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, just a block from the White House, in a shooting that occurred at approximately 2:30 AM early Saturday morning. The office building entrance, next door to the shop, also has a window boarded up.
The Caribou Coffee at the corner of 17th and Pennsylvania, right across the street from the White House — and normally, a large Secret Service presence — has a wall-length window boarded up. An employee inside Caribou confirmed that a shooting took out the store’s window.
White House staffers have reportedly held meetings at that particular Caribou Coffee to avoid having to record their interactions in White House visitor logs.
A Secret Service agent investigating the matter Monday told Mark Perlman, the manager of Brewood Engraving, that the incident appears to have been a two-block shooting. No motive is known at this time. The Secret Service does not know how many suspects may have been involved, but believes that the shooters were in a car and were not targeting any specific business.
At least one 9 mm bullet was found inside Brewood Engravers.
In case you’ve never been to our nation’s capitol city, it’s a total facade, even worse than NJ’s Atlantic City. You’ve got your government buildings, you’ve got your famous landmarks, you’ve got your memorials and reflecting pools. And around the corner, and sometimes even between one landmark and the next, is some serious low rent ghetto. Not as bad as Detroilet, not as bad as Camden or East St. Louis or Baltimore. But not much better either.
Generally, the Trayvons and the other hood rats know enough to stay out of the Whites and Tourist areas. Keep their she-it in da hood, and nobody knows nuffin. But - perhaps just like the Short Hills Mall shooting here in NJ last week, the Rubicon has again been crossed. Now we’ve got a gang-banger just popping off a whole box full o’ caps right across the street from the White House. In DC, the city with the most restrictive gun laws in the entire country. The city “protected” by more damn armed alphabet agencies, by a massive police force with all the toys, by their own Marine base, and by every kind of spy, secret agent, and covert ninja they can come up with. Not to mention 96 zillion CCTV cameras, microphones, lasers, metal detectors, and the most complex and classified city-wide security system known to man, that can handle everything from snipers to rioters to incoming ICBMs ... at an annual cost of gazillions, all to keep our top government people safe.
And some schwoogie can lean his droopy pantsed punk ass out the window of some urban cruiser and shoot the hell out of the neighborhood and nobody - NOBODY - knows nothing.
WTF people, WTF. That hood rat shouldn’t have made it 20 yards without a Marine boot up his ass and 5 MIB pushing his face through the asphalt.
We’re looking at MAJOR FAIL here ... and Al Q is reading this news report and laughing until they wet themselves.
And nothing will come of it either. No arrests, no firings, no tactical analysis, no nada. Oh wait: 12 agencies, including the National Park Service’s Monument Police, will cry for extra budget money so they can buy more tanks, more guns, more ammo, and more worthless training. Then go back to not doing their jobs, but keeping a super sharp eye on old ladies, vets in wheelchairs, and those radical white people with the TEA protest signs. You don’t dare turn your back on any of those folks, no sir.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department said 6 properties were damaged by the early morning gunshots and that Secret Service is on the scene.
“Well, on Saturday morning about 2:30, there was a car running down the street and somebody was shooting with a nine-millimeter handgun,” the Brewood Engravers manager told TheDC, relaying his conversation with the Secret Service investigator. ”Two bullets hit our window. They hit Caribou Coffee. So they were shooting for about two blocks down Pennsylvania Ave.”
“They’re hoping to get video and hopefully see who perpetrated the crime…No products hit. Just the walls and the window,” Perlman said.
It’s “very weird” that something like this could happen so close to the White House, Perlman said. “Usually this is a pretty safe section of town.”
Yeah, usually. But not any longer. Hey Eric Holder - better keep “your people” in line!
PS - and yes, I am fully aware that the US Marines do not have, nor are allowed to have, an active roll in crime prevention out on the streets. Posse Comitatus and all that. But if there’s one group of feds with guns that I have any respect for, it would be them. So I’d daydream that they’d be on the spot and proactive. It makes a good mental image, and I’m sure that, given the legal opportunity, I could get 10,000 of them to volunteer in a second to kick some gang-banger ass.
PPS - bad Drew, assuming this shooting was done by Urban Black Youth. Are you shitting me? I bet you 5,000 to 1 ... 10,000 to 1 ... that this is exactly who did it. Even if the MSM/feds rig a fall guy and report otherwise! Besides, if it had been some white guy, at least he would have hit whatever he was aiming at!

A man charged with a federal hate crime in connection with a “knockout” assault against an elderly black man appears in court Friday afternoon for a detention hearing.
Authorities say the assault was racially motivated.
Conrad Alvin Barrett, 27, of Katy, Texas, has been charged with one count of violating the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, the U.S. Justice Department said Thursday.
According to the federal complaint, Barrett attacked the 79-year-old man “because of the man’s race and color.”
The suspect made a video of the attack November 24, the complaint said. In the video, he allegedly commented that “the plan is to see if I were to hit a black person, would this be nationally televised?”
He then allegedly “hit the man with such force that the man immediately fell to the ground. Barrett then laughed and said ‘knockout,’ as he ran to his vehicle and fled.”
The victim suffered two jaw fractures and was hospitalized for several days, the complaint said.
Meanwhile, in New York City, where the knockout game is played weekly, if not several times a day, and nearly exclusively by blacks, police boss Ray Kelly still has his doubts that it actually exists.
In a separate case, New York City police on Wednesday searched for a man who allegedly punched a 33-year-old woman in the back of the head in Brooklyn in what may be a “knockout” assault.
Despite that and other cases, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said last month that city officials haven’t seen evidence of a trend, though they are not ruling out the idea.
“The press has named it the so-called knockout game. We don’t discount that that exists. It’s a possibility. We’ve investigated and will continue to investigate,” Kelly told reporters in late November.

This Says It All
It isn’t about money, it isn’t about injustice or social equality - it is about generations who believe that they must never be ‘forced’ into being anything but what ‘they’ want to be - a victim, lazy, a criminal, a predator, a freeloader, unaccountable - what they have always been - bitterly clinging to their racism, victim-status, and base hatreds and criminality.
They refuse to be accountable for their own failures and successes, they refuse to be accountable to their relationships, they refuse to be accountable to their spawn - but damn if they don’t deserve their EBT cards, Obamaphones (or ten), their project apartment, their Medicaid - and you are just a bigoted racist if you think otherwise.

Dem Racis Skoolz
Camden NJ, right across the Delaware River from Philadelphia PA. Once a thriving city, it is now the blackest, poorest, most run down, gang infested, trashheap among any of the eastern states. The libraries have closed, the police department has nearly been laid off, the fire department likewise. It is a horrible cesspool long ago abandoned by the white people who built it. It has been an enclave of the Democratic Machine and all its corruptions for more than 80 years.
And this is the bottom line: More money per student is spent there than in nearly any other school system in the country, no matter how well off that community may be. And it makes no difference whatsoever. Because the populace has gone aboriginal, and couldn’t care less about schooling. WTF, the EBT gets renewed every month either way.
The new school superintendent in Camden, N.J., says it was a “kick-in-the-stomach moment” when he learned that only three district high school students who took the SAT in the 2011-12 school year scored as college-ready.
Paymon Rouhanifard on Tuesday told the school board and the community what he learned on a “listening tour” after he was named to the post in August.
He told the city’s Board of Education that low college readiness shows the district must do better.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/19cp4f3) the superintendent also says he also heard about safety problems in the district. He says one action he’s taking immediately is waiving the $75 background check fee for parents who want to volunteer in the schools.
In June, the state assumed control of the schools in the poverty-stricken city of 80,000.
“College Ready” according to the SAT folks, means scoring a 1550 or better on the modern SAT exam, which uses a 2400 point system these days. So this means taking the SAT, and scoring just less than what used to be called a failing grade (1550/2400 = 64.58%).
The SAT Benchmark was designed to measure the college readiness of groups of students. The SAT Benchmark score of 1550 is associated with a 65 percent probability of obtaining a first year GPA (FYGPA) of a B- or higher, which in turn is associated with a high likelihood of college success. Students meeting the benchmark score of 1550 were more likely to enroll in a four-year college, had higher first-year GPAs and were more likely to be retained for their second and third year than those students who did not attain the SAT benchmark.
Nice. So the BEST of the high school kids in Camden managed to just barely fail the SAT, or slightly better. And this is after you, me, and everyone else chipped in enough tax money to spend more than $15 per hour on each and every student in their school system.
Camden is no tiny town. The population is about 80,000 people. About 40 percent of the residents live below the poverty line. The FBI has ranked Camden first in the nation for violent crimes per capita in cities with over 50,000 residents.

The upbeat website of the Camden Education Association, the local teachers union, doesn’t appear to mention the disastrous failure of the union’s teachers to prepare students for college.“The Camden Education Association shall continue to advocate for quality working conditions, economic benefits, political involvement, and professional growth for its membership in order to promote the best education for Camden City students,” the site perkily promises. (notice there isn’t a single word about providing any kind of education for the students, quality or otherwise!)

Figures provided by the Common Institute of New Jersey show that the Camden school district spends $23,770 per student each year. Across the United States, average spending per pupil is a little over $10,000, according to Governing.com.
Camden has 5 high schools, with at least 2,000 students in that age bracket.

I meant to run this yesterday afternoon, but there was just too much going on here to give me time to post.
There was a carjacking here in NJ the other day that resulted in a murder. While that is very unfortunate, it isn’t all that uncommon.
What is uncommon is that with this crime, the Rubicon has been crossed.
Not many people from outside New Jersey know it, but there are some areas of this state that area extremely tony. And by that I don’t mean the eh paisan! kind of Tony. I mean the this is where the serious money lives, and has lived for more than a century. A large area stretching for miles and miles across the upper middle of the state. Beucolic. Landscaped. Quiet. Safe. And with invisible walls 6 miles high. Seriously: even with Newark Airport right there, the jets fly in every other direction. And near the outer edge of this zone is the swankest shopping mall in the state, the Mall at Short Hills. Which is where this murder went down. Perpetrated by ghetto scum. Which is the real reason the whole damn state is in an uproar: the color line is broken. That invisible wall protecting the well-to-do, and by extension and to a lesser extent the rest of us, has been violated.
The victim, 30-year-old Dustin Friedland, was shot in the head Dec.15 in front of his wife in the parking garage of The Mall at Short Hills. Authorities found the Range Rover, which two of the suspects drove off in, the next morning in Newark, about 10 miles from Short Hills.
Mr. Friedland and his wife are both lawyers. Their SUV is worth about $90,000. He’s dead, she’s a widow, and the car was found (in unknown condition) a day later in the ghetto. You see, NJ is not a big state. So those invisible barriers aren’t hundreds of miles thick. Sometimes they’re only a couple blocks wide. But up until now, for the larger part, certain elements have known not to cross that line. Your side, my side.
And it isn’t at all really a racial barrer. It’s much more of an economic barrier. Any Person of Color is more than welcome over on our side. Just graduate college and have a very successful career. Heck, in the lower areas college isn’t even required. Just have steady employment and the proper suburban attitude. That’s all anyone is really asking.
But now ... I’m not sure what’s going to happen next. Oh, the cops got it together and caught the mooks in just a few days. You knew they would. And now the story has come out that it was 4 of the ratbags doing the crime - a typical ape pack - not the 2 we’d heard about at first. And what a sorry-ass lot of scum are they:
Karif Ford, 31, Basim Henry, 32, and Kevin Roberts, 33, all of Newark, and Hanif Thompson, 29, of Irvington, were all busted. Each is being held on $2 million bail.

The four face a slew of charges in the Dec. 15 killing, including murder, carjacking, conspiracy and weapons possession, authorities said Saturday. Authorities refused to name the triggerman who shot Friedland point-blank in the head.All four — who face possible life sentences — have rap sheets stretching back years that include multiple burglary and drug counts.
Thompson, who has done more than a dozen stints in the Essex County Jail, was released on Dec. 11 after serving time on a burglary charge.
Roberts has been arrested 13 times on narcotics and weapons offenses.
Both Ford and Henry were sent to prison in 2003 — Ford for burglary and Henry for bank robbery, records show.
Henry finished federal prison time eight months ago for a robbery in which he put a gun to the head of a Union Township bank employee.
Henry was busted for the mall shooting at a hotel in Easton, Pa., by an FBI task force and US marshals. Thompson was captured in Irvington, NJ, and Ford and Roberts were nabbed in Newark.
Karif, Basim, Hanif, and Kevin? WTF? Sounds like an illicit swish Saudi dance troop. Nation of Islam? A couple of car jackings can net enough to sponsor some small scale terrorism. But even if that’s a blind alley, what an ugly bunch of lowlifes. Follow the links if you want to see their faces.
I’m waiting for the backlash. Or maybe this one, this First Time, will be overlooked. But if soon we have a Second Time, and then a Third? All bets are off. New Jersey is an odd little state, with pocket ghettos (aka “ethnic enclaves") all over. Mostly we can all look the other way all the time. And the whole state is a happy beach to any crab who can climb out of the bucket and (most importantly!!!) leave the other crabs behind and stop acting like a crab! Which means upward mobility is accepted and encouraged but don’t bring no niggas wit chu! And all of this happens because everyone understands.

A PR executive for a major media company who Tweeted a racist ‘joke’ on Friday that sparked a social media revolt was unaware she had become front page news because she posted the message while boarding a long-haul flight.
Justine Sacco - the Communications Director for IAC, a parent company for Vimeo, OkCupid, Tinder, CollegeHumor, and Dictionary.com - was flying to Cape Town when she Tweeted: ‘Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just Kidding. I’m White!’
The post had been retweeted over 3000 times and was picked up by news sites around the world by the time Sacco landed in Africa.
Blasted for being ‘outrageous’ and ‘inappropriate’, with titles like ‘Worst Tweet of the Year’ stacking up against her, Sacco promptly deleted the Tweet, with her entire Twitter account soon vanishing as well.
But the damage had been done, and IAC were forced to comment on Sacco’s behalf.

A knockout game gone wrong in Vegas has caught the attention of many as a guy tries to knock down a girl and ends up getting beat up by her instead.
A video that was uploaded to World Star Hip Hop shows one major failed attempt at the deadly game known as knockout. Knockout, a game that involves randomly knocking down unknowing pedestrians, has been on the rise amongst young adults and teens in the United States.

This fool only had one, the idiot “friend” who was taking the video. You can hear him counting out the paces as the Chimp Chump runs across the mall to start the attack, then in typical moron style the idiot so gleefully chimps out when the blow lands that he nearly drops the camera and muffs the shot. But it’s too late then, because this time the white girl saw it coming and avoided the blow, and proceeds to instantly go into counter offense mode. Good for her. Of course, the guy she’s with then tries to get a placekicker job withe the Giants, using Chimp Chump’s face as the ball when he delivers a 40 yard attempt. And the two of them continue to wail the crap out of the would be attacker, as other white folks stroll placidly by doing their shopping.

Too bad this woman wasn’t armed. Drawing down on this beast and flattening his melon head with a .45 lead hammer would have been entirely justifiable. Shame we don’t have a few hundred videos like that one. Yet. But this one’s a start.
And since the video ends before “Mall Security” shows up, we can only assume Chump gets up and runs away. Which means he totally lost face, in addition to his injuries, so he’ll be back, looking for revenge. Police better put a collar on this hater before he kills someone. Probably going after some little white granny next time, just to be sure.

Seems like these days certain protected life forms can now even choose what words whitey gets to speak.

Well, along comes this new crime, which has been brought to our attention by a broad nosed old bag who is going to take legal action.
First .... a bit of history on the subject.

The golliwog, golliwogg or golly was a black character in children’s books in the late 19th century usually depicted as a type of rag doll. It was reproduced, both by commercial and hobby toy-makers as a children’s toy called the “golliwog”, and had great popularity in Europe and Australia into the 1970s.
The doll is characterised by black skin, eyes rimmed in white, clown lips and frizzy hair. While home-made golliwogs were sometimes female, the golliwog was generally male. For this reason, in the period following World War II, the golliwog was seen, along with the teddy bear, as a suitable soft toy for a young boy.
The image of the doll has become the subject of heated debate. While some see the golliwog as a cherished cultural artifact and childhood tradition, others argue that the golliwog is a destructive instance of racism against people of African descent, along with pickaninnies, minstrels, mammy figures, and other caricatures, and has been described as “the least known of the major anti-Black caricatures in the United States”. In recent years, changing political attitudes with regard to race have reduced the popularity and sales of golliwogs as toys. Manufacturers who have used golliwogs as a motif have either withdrawn them as an icon, or changed the name. In particular, the association of the golliwog with the pejorative term “wog” has resulted in use of alternative names such as “golly” and “golly doll”.
British jam manufacturer James Robertson & Sons used a golliwog called Golly as its mascot from 1910, after John Robertson apparently saw children playing with golliwog dolls in America.
Robertson’s started producing promotional Golly badges in the 1920s, which could be obtained in exchange for tokens gained from their products. In 1983, the company’s products were boycotted by the Greater London Council as offensive, and in 1988 the character ceased to be used in television advertising. The company used to give away Golly badges and small plaster figures playing musical instruments or sports and other such themes. The badge collection scheme was withdrawn in 2001.
According to an editorial in The Times newspaper golliwogs were banned in Germany in 1934, on the grounds they were inappropriate toys for Aryan children.
In a statement reported by the BBC, Virginia (Ginny) C. Knox, previously brand director for Robertson’s and later Chief Operating Officer of the Culinary Brands Division of RHM, told The Herald Newspaper in Scotland in 2001 that the decision to remove the Golly symbol from Robertson’s jam and marmalade jars was taken after research found that children were not familiar with the character, although it still appealed to the older generations.
“We sell 45 million jars of jam and marmalade each year and they have pretty much all got Golly on them,” said Ms Knox. “We also sell 250,000 Golly badges to collectors and only get 10 letters a year from people who don’t like the Golliwog image.” Today, Robertson’s Golly badges remain highly collectible, with the very rarest sometimes selling for more than £1,000. = $1,634.52.

A black chef claims that her white boss racially harassed her when he mentioned the word ‘golliwog’ during a conversation about the famous Robertson’s jam labels.
Lawyers for Denise Lindsay, 45, claim that the word is ‘inherently discriminatory’ and has ‘racial overtones’ and should not have been used in front of their client.
But her boss Mark McAleese claims that he was talking about the jam label changing and has apologized to her and said that he had no desire to ‘violate her dignity’.
Her lawyers are battling to convince three top judges that the word is inherently offensive to black people and almost always discriminatory - no matter in what context it is used.
Violate her F***** what? How could he possibly violate something she hasn’t got and never had?
So I guess what we now have is or might be .... caution about any conversation that could be overheard by any darkie anywhere who will make the decision as to what is and is not offensive, even if offense wasn’t intended and even if the listener wasn’t personally offended, he or she MIGHT have been and anyway, how many words will have to be altered or stricken off the list of acceptable conversation?
Just look at this. Teach em to read and write, remove the chains and tell em they have rights and next thing you know they will want to marry your daughter. Oh wait ... they already do.
Her barrister, Daniel Matovu, told the court: ‘White people don’t get called golliwogs. The word is an overtly racial comment. [The word] golliwog cannot be interpreted in any other way.
‘What the authorities make clear is that, when something is inherently discriminatory and clearly has racial overtones, there is no further debate.’
British jam manufacturers Robertson’s started using the Golly character, dressed in a yellow waistcoat and bow tie, on its jars from 1910.
In the late-1920s, the company started producing popular badges featuring the character, including a golfing, cricketer and footballer version. The items became collectables.
Miss Lindsay was working as an assistant chef manager at the LSE’s Bloomsbury student halls in February 2009 when the comment was made by chef manager Mr McAleese.
He used the word while discussing ‘the change to the label of Robertson’s jam’, the court heard.
But Miss Lindsay, of Clapham, south west London, was upset and an employment tribunal later found that what Mr McAleese said amounted to ‘an isolated act of harassment’.
He apologised and said that he had not uttered the word for the ‘purpose of violating her dignity’.
The tribunal ruled: ‘We have concluded that, for a white manager to use the words “golliwog” and “golliwog jam” in the course of a conversation with a black Afro-Caribbean colleague is unwanted conduct.’
However, Miss Lindsay’s harassment claim was dismissed after the tribunal said it had been brought too late.
Whether that decision was justified is one of the central issues now being considered by the Appeal Court judges.
Miss Lindsay’s other complaints of race discrimination were dismissed by the tribunal and, although she still has an active victimisation claim, she is asking the court to reconsider the issue.
Her barrister Mr Matovu argued that the tribunal was plainly wrong to dismiss the golliwog complaint purely on grounds of delay.
However, the LSE’s barrister, Shaen Catherwood, insisted that Mr McAleese’s use of the controverisal word - spoken quietly and quickly - did not come anywhere close to racial harassment.
‘I say it is unsatisfactory that somebody should be labelled with a finding of harassment on racial grounds when the actual context in which the word was used was innocent and inoffensive,’ he told the court.
Lord Justice Moore-Bick, Lord Justice Floyd and Lord Justice Christopher Clarke reserved their decision on the case until a later date.
Her lawyer is what? Matovu? What tribe is that?
This case should have been thrown out of court at the get go. I think the bitch is looking for a large payday. Whitey owes her ya know.

I have never seen this lady perform or heard her sing, or whatever it is she does. I only know of her from the newspapers and then only at a glance as I have no interest. She belongs to another age group.
But this article today really caught my eye and convinced me beyond any doubt, not that I ever doubted it, that more than a generation has been brainwashed and dumbed down.
How the hell could anyone with a working brain accuse someone of the ever popular and growing use of the ‘R’ word, simply due to a costume worn on stage.
There is just NO HOPE I don’t believe, that things will improve. Because the idiots who think like what the article describes, are in turn going to or already are, bringing up the next generation of idiots.

Thing is ... I see something like the following article and just don’t understand the idiots that honestly believe the crap they do.
Hey, personally I think the kids who did this look kinda silly, but on the other hand it was a clever stunt.
A send up of Somali pirates. The pose the girl took in this photo looks plain dumb, but then I suppose not being an actress or a professional model, she struck the pose she felt looked .... ? Smart? Whatever.
But for all the folks now shouting RAAAAAAACE. I tell ya I’d like to mowem all down. Somali pirates happen to be black. Or at least a very dark brown. So the kids dress up but since they’re white, they are now condemned AND .... The suck ups at the newspaper want someone to ID the kids.
This is all the result of very successful brain cleansing and indoctrination on a massive scale, by the politically correct left bed wetters, of generations of youth from the time they enter schools. And maybe before. They have managed to carry things so far that nowadays, to use the term colored in reference to a person is now “offensive” and “insensitive.”

The ‘Beerienteering’ event, organised by The Edinburgh University Law Society, had an Around The World fancy dress code.
But four members sparked outrage after pictures emerged of them dressed as Somali pirates with their faces painted black.

An official event page describes Beerienteering as ‘a steeplechase around the bars of Edinburgh full of plenty challenges and surprises’ and tells attendees to ‘expect over-the-top fancy dress.’
Teams of four students including one girl, must race around Edinburgh’s pubs completing various ‘challenges’ along the way to find out their next destination.
The winning team is the one which completes the route in the shortest time.
It is understood that door staff at The Hive nightclub in the city were challenged by other students after allowing the controversial group entry to the venue.
The door staff are believed to have replied that those who were offended could ‘head somewhere else’.
The Edinburgh University Law Society is an independent society and is not affiliated with the Edinburgh University Students Association (EUSA).
Nadia Mehdi, vice president of Societies and Activities at EUSA, said: ‘I’m really shocked to see that in this day and age these students weren’t aware of or chose to ignore the offence they would cause by painting their faces black.
‘It’s not acceptable and should not be condoned. The Law Society is not a EUSA society so we can’t discipline them, but I will be bringing this to the attention of the Law School.’
Keir Gilius, President of the Law Society, said in a statement: ‘The fancy dress theme was All Around the World.
‘As a society, we try to arrange our events with innovative and interesting themes leaving scope for attendees to use their imaginations.
‘In no way was this theme intended to incite racism or cultural appropriation and, as a society, we are vehemently opposed to discrimination of any form.
‘On behalf of the members of our society, we apologise unreservedly for any upset caused.
‘In response to some of the costumes designed, in the future we will strive to ensure that any fancy dress events will actively discourage the use of any costumes that could be perceived as being offensive.
‘If so, the wearers may be denied participation in said event.
‘As a society, we respect our members’ right to freedom of expression, however, cultural insensitivity is intolerable and this is something that we are completely opposed to.
Funny innit how some folks feel they are qualified to decide what is culturally insensitive and intolerable. I guess anything that isn’t politically correct by all these future lawyers is intolerable.
‘In light of the ongoing and comprehensive commentary on our Facebook page, I would not propose to discuss any further details.’A spokesman for the University of Edinburgh said: ‘The University takes issues relating to equality and diversity very seriously and hopes and expects that all members of the University community do the same.
‘To this end, it has a range of relevant policies and procedures in place to address such issues as they arise.’

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
