And So The Mill Churns

Does it now grind out truth, or just more rumor?

UPDATE: Now he doesn’t! “No torn eye socket” according to CNN here. But he did have a swollen face. And around we go again.

You did see yesterday’s report that officer Wilson had an orbital floor fracture, right? That means something hit him so hard it broke his face bones below his eye. Not that we were shown his bruised up picture or his X-ray.

Proceed with caution, but follow this link.

Ferguson Still

There is no other News but Ferguson, and MSNBC is it’s prophet.

Well, no, that’s not completely fair, but it’s fairly close. All the networks seem to be zeroed in on this story, to the exclusion of almost all else.

And now Governor Nixon has brought in the National Guard.  And now, while the “10 days in August” continues, overnight violence has lead to the arrest of 31 ne’er-do-wells, and the story in the press starts to turn toward the police’s version of events as one, or perhaps more than a dozen witnesses corroborate the shooting officer’s view: the giant Brown rushed him, and would not stop. Naturally “the other side” now claims these are created witnesses, because their story didn’t hit the media first thing. Well, perhaps it did, but nobody was listening at the time.

“Josie” claimed when Wilson opened the door to get out of the police car, “Michael slammed his door shut.” Brown, according to “Josie,” then “bum rushes him, punches him in the face.” She said at one point Brown “got the gun totally turned against his hip,” and “Darren shoves it away and the gun goes off.”

“Josie” claimed Brown and Johnson started running away and, following protocol, Wilson pursued them while they were 35 feet ahead of him and yelled, “Freeze.” She said Brown then started taunting Wilson by saying,”Oh, what are you going to do about it? You’re not going to shoot me.”

“All of a sudden, he just started to bum rush him, he just started coming at him full speed,” the caller claimed, “And he just started shooting and he just started coming. He really thinks he was on something.”

The caller claimed that Wilson thought “it was unbelievable” and that his “final shot was in the forehead.” Brown then allegedly fell about two to three feet in front of Wilson. “Josie” said Brown was not shot in the back, contrary to initial reports. An eyewitness at the scene has also said that Brown “doubled back” to charge the officer before he was shot and killed.

ONE ... count him; one ... one media talking head may have realized that the media is a culprit here to a very large extent. And that “media” includes new and old, mainstream and backwater.

Former CNN anchor and Fox News Channel’s “MediaBuzz” host Howie Kurtz criticized some outlets for creating “almost a lynch mob mentality” in Ferguson, MO in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Brown.

“Some liberal outlets [are] creating almost a lynch mob mentality around this, the Huffington Post today, screaming banner headline ‘Arrest Him.’ Now, the Huffington Post, nor you or I, knows exactly what happened” he said. And “when you cross that line into becoming an advocate and to demanding that somebody be prosecuted before the facts are in, while the investigation is going on, you’re grandstanding, you’re trying to keep the story alive and I really think it’s troubling.”

Kurtz also criticized CNN for showing the house of accused officer Darren Wilson, stating, “It defies my understanding how you could put his life or the life of his family in danger by even briefly showing the house or naming the street.”

I have to agree with that last. Willful endangerment, whatever the proper legal term. CNN ought to be sued for $25-50 million for this. That’s nearly an explicit call to violence. Implicit, absolutely. And for that they should pay heavily.

PS - Please just go fuck yourselves; you’re not helping: Redskins Run Onto Field Before Game with Hands Up for Michael Brown

Meanwhile, Roger Simon beats out Obama by a country mile: he doesn’t blame Bush for Ferguson, he blames LBJ. But since Simon is Conservative, no one will listen.

Um, Never Mind. Maybe?

Slain Ferguson MO Youth Michael Brown

Had Just Robbed A Convenience Store?

Police today named Darren Wilson as the officer who fatally shot Michael Brown and released video stills and an incident report on a robbery shortly before the shooting that named the teenager as the ‘prime suspect’.

In a shocking twist to the killing which sparked riots in St Louis over the last few days, the officer investigating the convenience store robbery also attended the scene of the shooting and said the suspect and Brown were the same person.

According to the police report, video shows Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson having an altercation with store staff and allegedly stealing box of Swisher Sweets, a type of cigar.

In the grainy images, a large black man wearing a light-colored shirt, distinctive shoes, a red baseball hat and khaki shorts is seen assaulting a clerk and then stealing cigars.

A photograph of Michael Brown’s body in the street after he was shot dead shows that he was wearing a light grey shirt, the same shoes and khaki cargo shorts. There was also a red baseball cap by the body.

This is NOT a case of mistaken identity; the convenience store crime report names Brown as the suspect, and the officer who shot him had also responded to the store robbery.

6’4” 292lb ... he was just a little kid.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2725917/Ferguson-police-Officer-Darren-Wilson-cop-shot-dead-unarmed-teenager-Michael-Brown.html
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/08/15/ferguson-police-say-michael-brown-fit-description-strong-arm-robbery-suspect/

The unarmed black teenager who was fatally shot by a police officer in a St. Louis suburb, fit the description of a suspect in a strong-arm robbery that happened minutes earlier, a suburban St. Louis police chief said at a Friday press conference at which the officer was publicly identified for the first time.

Ferguson, Mo., Police Chief Thomas Jackson said that the robbery took place just before noon on Saturday at a nearby convenience store roughly 10 minutes before a police officer identified as Darren Wilson fired the bullet that killed Michael Brown. Police say that the shot was fired after a struggled touched off by Wilson’s confronting Brown. Jackson said Wilson is a six-year veteran with no disciplinary action on his record.

The news conference came after nearly a week of sometimes-violent protests and calls by many, including President Obama, for local law enforcement to be more transparent about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police previously said they withheld Wilson’s identity because of the potential for threats on the officer and his family. The officer has been on administrative leave since the shooting.

Police released still images and were planning to release video from the robbery, at a QuikTrip store in Ferguson. Jackson said Wilson, along with other officers, were called to the area after a 911 call reporting a “strong-arm robbery” at a nearby convenience store.

Naturally, there are those whose immediate reaction was that this was some kind of CYA lie put out by the police.

“I am incensed,” Laura Keys, 50, told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I can’t believe this is the tactic they are using, bringing up a robbery to make the victim look like he was the person who created this whole mess.”

Police have said Brown was shot after an officer encountered him and another man on the street. They say one of the men pushed the officer into his squad car, then physically assaulted him in the vehicle and struggled with the officer over the officer’s weapon. At least one shot was fired inside the car before the struggle spilled onto the street, where Brown was shot multiple times, according to police.

But a much different story has been told by Dorian Johnson, who says he was walking down the street with Brown when he was shot. He has said the officer ordered them out of the street, then grabbed his friend’s neck and tried to pull him into the car before brandishing his weapon and firing. He says Brown started to run and the officer pursued him, firing multiple times.

So, is Dorian Johnson under arrest for helping steal those $49 worth of lousy cigars? I have no idea. Tried to pull this gigantic guy into the cop car? With one hand holding his gun? Sounds like bullshit to me. Tase him, cuff him, call for backup with a come-along.

But I still like my idea of multi-angle digital video cameras both in (and inside) police cars, and mounted right on the officer’s uniform. These days they aren’t even as big as a button, and a datastream like this would have cleared this situation up in a minute.

Without a doubt, fingerprints from the store or on those cigars will place Brown and Johnson at the scene. And some people will still say that was planted evidence too.

The report then reads: ‘That is when Brown reached across the counter and grabbed numerous packs of Swisher Sweets and turned to leave the store.’

The attendant then calls 911 as someone else comes out from ‘behind the counter and attempts to stop Brown from leaving’. Someone tried to stop Brown from leaving and locked the door until ‘Brown returned the merchandise to him’.

‘That is when Brown grabbed X by the shirt and forcefully pushed him back into the display rack’.

X backed away and Brown and Johnson exited the store with the cigars’, said the report

The officer writing the robbery report said he attended the scene of Brown’s shooting and that after reviewing the surveillance footage ‘I was able to confirm that Brown is the primary suspect in this incident.

‘A second person, also at that scene, identified himself as being with Brown. That person was later identified as Dorian Johnson. After observing Johnson and reviewing the video, I confirmed he is the second suspect in this incident.’

Dorian Johnson has made multiple TV appearances since the fatal shooting of his friend. At no time did he make reference to being a suspect in a store robbery.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a single apology, an “oops, we all over reacted” or the return of a single item of looted merchandise. Faux mob outrage and mob violence are the MO of the day.

How Big A Wimp Is He?

Man, this hurts.

When even the FWENCH tell our President to cowboy up, you know he’s a wiener.

French foreign minister slams Obama for golfing while Iraq burns

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has a message about Iraq for Barack Obama: Get back to the White House and do something.

‘I know it is the holiday period in our Western countries,’ Fabius told a radio interviewer Tuesday in France,’ but when people are dying, you must come back from vacation.’

Full-time workers in France are guaranteed a whopping five weeks of paid vacation every year, making his plea all the more urgent.

Obama is on a family and golfing holiday in a ritzy neighborhood of Martha’s Vineyard but says he will come back to Washington this weekend before returning on Tuesday to fun, sun, and more golf.

As town after Iraqi town is conquered by ISIS, an Islamist terror group that claims it has established an ‘Islamic state,’ Obama’s approach has consisted so far of airlifting humanitarian supplies to victimized groups, protecting the aid drops with airstrikes, and begging for help from allies.

Britain, France, Italy and other European nations have backed the humanitarian assistance with material and personnel, reported The Wall Street Journal, which first broke news of the French diplomat’s criticism.

Meanwhile Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have been encouraging a nascent Iraqi government from a safe distance, while assuring Americans that the U.S. won’t enter another prolonged war with boots on the ground.

Eyebrows went up Wednesday in Washington, though, when the White House announced that Obama was leaning toward deploying ground troops to Mount Sinjar, a northern Iraqi hideout to which tens of thousands of Yadizis, a persecuted religious minority group, have led from ISIS.

Ordinarily, I’d say the froggy could vous allez sable de livre (go pound sand), but in this case he’s right.

And it looks like today, Vacation Guy is doing something. Hopefully, not something stupid. Or, at least less stupid than usual.

Oh goody ... he’s going to give a speech at 12:15. Although half of that will be about the riots in Ferguson MO, so expect him to cuss out the cops and be all rayciss once again.

... 12:49, still waiting ...

News for race fear over beer … a committee of idiots in govt. office

Once again I find myself with a subject covered well by Drew only yesterday.

Look how far the mindless idiots now carry these things. And it’s true, there is a new “ism” invented almost daily.
Life can be difficult enough without the mad ravings of the pc crowd.
Here is yet another example.

Yes, it’s a long read and I could have simply given the link to you, which I will do anyway.
Good grief ... and this come from right inside a govt. body. These folks pass the laws all are supposed to obey.

News for race fear over beer served in Commons

Race fear in the Commons: Parliamentary PC brigade refuses to let bar sell ale featuring black-faced Morris dancers because it might cause offence

· MP Jake Berry was asked to nominate guest ale from his constituency
· But chosen ale from brewery in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, fell foul of chiefs
· House of Commons PC brigade said ale’s label could cause offence
· The label features black-faced Morris dancers in nod to mining heritage

By Daily Mail Reporter

When an MP was asked to nominate a guest ale from his constituency to be served at a House of Commons bar, he was only too happy to help out.
But Jake Berry’s chosen tipple from an award-winning brewery in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, has fallen foul of the Commons PC brigade – because its label features black-faced Morris dancers.

The beer from the Irwell Works Brewery was intended to celebrate the Britannia Coconut Dancers from nearby Bacup, who have been performing since 1857 with blacked faces to celebrate the area’s mining heritage.

But officials said the image may cause offence, so the beer will be served in the Strangers Bar sporting the Bacup crest instead.
Parliamentary chiefs threw out the pale ale which had been specially crafted by a multi award-winning Rossendale brewery, saying the imagery ‘may have caused offence.’

MPs and local politicians slammed the decision, saying it ‘favours political correctness over common sense’.
The Coconutters have hit out, saying their traditional black make-up and colourful turbans, red and white kilts and clogs, are a celebration of Lancashire’s mining heritage.

It comes days after Will Straw, son of Blackburn MP Jack, was embroiled in a Twitter storm after posting a picture of himself with the morris dancing troupe.
Joe Healey, Coconutters secretary, called the decision ‘a real sad shame’.

He said: ‘I don’t understand the furore. Some people make caustic comments without understanding the tradition.

‘After recent comments made about us, I felt compelled to go back through our history, and there is no racial element whatsoever. There is no mention of race or ethnicity.
‘Researchers from Sheffield University have done the same, and come to the same conclusion.’

Irwell Works Brewery in Ramsbottom dropped the image of the Coconutters from the beer pump and replaced it with the Bacup crest, which will accompany the ale in the Strangers Bar.

Mr Berry said: ‘We thought of several names, but as the boundary dance was saved earlier this year, I thought it would be a fitting tribute to name the beer after the Britannia Coconutters, to celebrate their huge contribution to traditional dancing and their charity work across Rossendale.

The House of Commons authorities did not feel that this would comply with the strict rules they have regarding the naming of guest beers and requested us to choose one of our alternative suggestions.

‘I’m disappointed in the House of Commons Authorities decision. People who live in London obviously have no understanding about our Lancashire traditions.’
Sara D’arcy, managing director of Irwell Works Brewery, said: ‘After Jake suggested we do a beer featuring the Coconutters, I made it up and we sent it down with him.

‘He came back to us and said they thought the picture of them could offend people, so we changed it to the Bacup crest.’
A spokesman for the House of Commons said: ‘The ale offered was not acceptable as the imagery proposed to be used in connection with sales may have caused offence.’

IDIOTS @ WORK

[Drew barges in, reads this post, and realizes it so needs a picture. So here they are in all their coal dusted glory. Quite literally, with bells on. So, you Englishers: is this a Border Morris team? Or are they just still in the “Minors”?]

Affirmative Action Dies In Michigan

SCOTUS: 6-2 Ruling:

States Can Decide Whether Race Is College Admission Factor

The Supreme Court has upheld Michigan’s affirmative action ban, ruling that the state has the right to determine whether racial preferences can be considered in college admissions.

In a 6-2 ruling on Tuesday, the justices said that a lower federal court was wrong to set aside the change as discriminatory. The Supreme Court ruled that Michigan voters had the right to change their state constitution to bar public colleges and universities from using race as a factor in admissions.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, suggested that right extends even beyond college policies.

“There is no authority in the federal constitution or in the [courts’] precedents for the judiciary to set aside Michigan laws that commit to the voters the determination whether racial preferences may be considered in governmental decisions, in particular with respect to school admissions,” he wrote.

Kennedy said voters chose to eliminate racial preferences because they deemed them unwise.

“This case is not about how the debate about racial preferences should be resolved. It is about who may resolve it,” Kennedy said.

Well, kind of. And the answer about who is ... We The People. Always was anyway.
And one way to “resolve” them is to eliminate them. And make college a choice for the best students, ignoring race, gender, religion, sports ability, and sexual alignment entirely.

The decision reads inside-out: the federal government does not have the power to annul state laws that give the people of that state (ie the voters) the power to shut down Affirmative Action programs in state institutions, primarily regarding school admissions, but extending to all government functions.

Hell, that still isn’t very clear, is it? Here: The people can vote to get rid of race preferential policies at the state government level. That includes the state colleges. The people can also vote to put Affirmative Action stuff into place at the state government level if they want.

Bottom line: the power’s to the people. Right on.

In dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor said the decision tramples on the rights of minorities, even though the amendment was adopted democratically. “But without checks, democratically approved legislation can oppress minority groups,” said Sotomayor, who read her dissent aloud in the courtroom Tuesday. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg sided with Sotomayor in dissent.

At 58 pages, Sotomayor’s dissent was longer than the combined length of the four opinions in support of the outcome.

Yeah, well what else would you expect from a crazy chola? She had to pitch a fit or somebody could cut a bitch.

I would like an absolute social avalanche to come of this. I don’t want there to even be a box to check for race or gender on any state mandated form. Not on a college admission, not on a mortgage application, not on your driver’s license. And I want to see those columns dropped from all the government databases, everywhere. They simply aren’t necessary, and their very existence degrades real equality.

Today is a great day in American history.

Would That It Were Otherwise

A nice medium essay on real “equality” over at SBPDL

Aside from some problems with basic math - the whole Trayvon thing was 2 years ago now, not 1 - he hits the nail squarely on the head.

Welcome to the new reality. And it’s a bitch.

This is what it means to live in the United States of America.

What a horrible racist thing to write. And how even more racist of me to mention it. Bull. Shit.

I was watching Brit Hume talking to Bill O’Reilly on Fox News last night. These two “fair and balanced” old white farts were debating - now, in 2014, not in 2007 - whether race has been any advantage to Barak Obama and Eric Holder. And I’m pretty sure that their conclusion was ... maybe. Bull. Shit. Responsible journalism at it’s finest. Not even close.

No worries; I also saw Fox’s panel discussion about the Bundy ranch and the BLM - and not a single word about Harry Reid and the China connection. You know, the one Infowars broke, that was nearly immediately coincidental with the BLM backing down and this becoming an instant non-story, the moment it went viral around the world.

But hey, later on I saw yet another panel discussion on Fox about the situation in Ukraine (in which token leftist and Obama sycophant Juan Williams STILL worships Lord Obama) and nobody said a syllable about Putin having his hand on the gas valve of Europe. Unreal. And Fox is the best we have. “Fearless and un-biased” they like to say of themselves if I recall correctly. Pure. Bull. Shit.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the world that can actually think ... “tanks alot” ...

You Don’t Say

UPDATE: 5 arrested for attempted murder but only the teen gets charged with “hate crime”

image

Saffold, Davis, Wimbush : 3 of the 5 arrested

A Detroit teenager was charged with assault and a hate crime today over the brutal mob beating of a driver who stopped to help a boy he had accidentally hit with his pickup truck.

The 16-year-old boy, who has not been named, is the only one of five people charged in the April 2 attack on Steve Utash to face an ethnic intimidation count.

Mr Utash, a 54-year-old grandfather is white, and the teenager and four adults charged in his beating are black.

‘In the case of the 16-year-old charged as a juvenile we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt the crimes of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and ethnic intimidation,’ Kym Worthy, Wayne County’s prosecutor, said.

‘In the case of the four adult defendants that have been charged, the facts and the evidence does not support a charge of ethnic intimidation.’

Like hell. But miracle of miracles, a black person has been charged with a hate crime.

Worthy said she ‘would not be surprised’ if police submitted more warrant requests stemming from the attack.

‘This case is still under investigation,’ she said. ‘We are still looking at every avenue and every aspect. We know that there were a number of people involved in this case.’

The 16-year-old is in custody and faces a hearing Saturday in the county Juvenile Detention Center.

Latrez Cummings, 19, was charged Thursday with assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

Bruce Wimbush Jr., 17; Wonzey Saffold, 30; and James Davis, 24, were arraigned this week on the same charges and are being held in the county jail on $500,000 bonds pending preliminary examinations on April 21.

And once again, I had to look at the UK news pages to find the latest news and pictures on a “sensitive” story here in the USA. Coverage here has been very “plain brown wrapper”. Um, is that a pun in this situation?

More accurately, “You Can’t Say”

An essay in American Thinker about the event in Detroit last week, in which a black kid got hit by a pickup truck he ran out in front of. When driver Steve Utash stopped to render aid, a mob of layabout blacks beat him nearly to death. And robbed him. Utash is in a coma, no arrests have been made, and the press is scared to death to label this a hate crime, or a racist incident, or even to mention race at all. In truth, it is entirely about race, and is yet another episode in the ongoing, one directional race war in America.

Let’s get one thing straight: the savage mob attack on a white motorist in Detroit by a dozen or more black men on Wednesday was not a “vigilante style” attack.

Yet that’s what Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and City Council President Brenda Jones are trying to call it in a joint statement meant to play down the unavoidable racial element.

May I suggest that the members of this ad-hoc mob of neighborhood goons already harbored racial animus long before Utash’s pickup ever entered their neighborhood?  May I suggest that, after a lifetime of being told by community leaders, schoolteachers, politicians, clergymen, and countless other role models, that every one of them is a victim of racial injustice, and every one of them is righteously entitled to racial justice “by any means necessary” – that these punks spotted a chance for racial vengeance and took it?

Well, it’s kind of raw and ugly to put it that way.  And it says more about what’s really going on in Detroit than just a lot of cool restaurants opening up downtown.

What happened in Detroit on Wednesday is that a black child was hurt accidentally by a white man, and then a gang of racist thugs almost killed him, driven by blind, insane revenge.

Yeah, no kidding. They’ve been fed the curdled milk of human hatred since they were born. Several generations, poisoned from birth. Such a waste.

Going all Zapruder:
Link to security video that shows the kid getting hit, here; see the hit at 0:35 and the zoomed recap at 0:54, when 4 kids race out onto the high speed road from behind several stopped cars, right in front of the truck. Watch closely and you’ll see at 0:34 that the 2 kids in the middle are in a runner’s crouch, and they start their sprints when the truck is barely 10 feet away. Not too bright a move IMO.

Other thoughts ... if what the uncle says on the video is correct, Utash pulled in to the gas station right behind where the boy was hit. And his beat down was in that same spot. So why is this not on the security tape that covers that area? Oh please, like somebody ran in and stopped the tape? No way. And where is this mob coming from? I don’t see anyone hanging around, and maybe only 1 other pedestrian. Presumably they all came running to get in on the excitement, but from where? The pizza shop across the street? The church next door? This is not an urban density residential area. Were they all inside the gas station’s mini-mart? And again, WHY was the tape cut so short? (as if I need to ask)

Paid For Failure

NYFD: Reparations: $66,000 Each

New New York City Mayor De Blasio races to go belly up and settle lawsuit, agrees to pay out >$100 MILLION to 1,500 “firefighters” over raycis exam. Wait, strike that.  "firefighters"  They never were firefighters. They were simply guys who took the entrance exam, and failed. Because. Racism. Uh huh; under that terrible evil Nazi racist Republican, Mayor Bloomberg (RINO extraordinaire, the Mary Poppins of the Nanny State, arch liberal, Socialist Utopian), the Fire Department written entrance exam was too difficult. Right. For illiterates perhaps. Whatever. Welcome to Bizzarro World, Part CXXVII. Automatic win for all Black people, or else massive cash payments. All from your tax dollars, one way or another.

Abandoning a legal battle hard-fought by his predecessor, Mayor de Blasio on Tuesday agreed to have the city shell out more than $100 million to a group of 1,500 minority firefighter applicants who sued over FDNY entrance exams that were found to be biased.

De Blasio made no secret of his desire to settle the controversial case upon taking office in January and the Vulcan Society and its lawyers took full advantage, scoring $98 million out of a $128 million cap on the city’s financial exposure.

The generous settlement amount doesn’t include at least $3.7 million more the city will be on the hook for in fees to the plaintiffs’ lawyers.

Besides back pay, the settlement includes more than $6 million to cover lost medical payments, fringe benefits and interest. The payment method hasn’t been determined and will have to be approved by a federal judge.

If evenly distributed, the payout would be about $65,000 for each member of the class action.

In a related maneuver that reveals the extent of City Hall’s new orientation, city Corporation Counsel Zachary Carter was granted permission to have controversial Judge Nicholas Garaufis administer the plump payout and determine the lawyer fees.

Garaufis presided over the case, ruling in 2011 that the FDNY — and then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg, specifically — intentionally discriminated against minority applicants.

But an appeals court tossed the portion of his ruling that characterized the discrimination as intentional and assigned a new judge, citing Garaufis’ lack of impartiality. That key legal point directly impacted financial damages and the reputation of the FDNY. A new hearing with a different judge had been scheduled for later this month, but was scuttled with the settlement deal.

So Commie Boy to the rescue!! Because given the appeals court ruling, this case would either simply evaporate in court, or the settlement would shrink down to almost nothing. But hella no, gots to have them reparations!

So while he was there, he also shelled out nearly $4 Million to the Vulcan Society, a group of firemen kind of like the Professional Black Caucus in Congress. Because the firemen already have a union you know. So they need their own secondary organization, just for Black Folk. But don’t you effin’ dare make a Promethius Club for White firemen. That be raycis!

Doggamn. A brudda could do ai-ite, ai-ite indeed, just by dropping a packet of seeds on the ground (Pigford II) and then failing a test. Together, that’s into the 6 figure range. Free moneys! I be voting Democrat for the nex 200 years!

NOTE: If you would like to see what some of the questions on the horrible exam were like, go here. If you don’t get at least 8 of the 10 right, don’t come back. If you do get all 10 correct, plus the extra hard bonus picture question of the lamp shop, for which the correct answer is already circled, I will award free caulk to the first person who can figure out how these questions are legitimately racist.

NOTE 2: Pity party for the smart minority folks who aced the exam, and STILL couldn’t get the job. Say What??. Oh wait. First, the NYFD ran out of money one year, so they didn’t hire anybody. Raycis!! Then the courts declared that the tests they had given were racist, so all the results got thrown out. Which means nobody got hired from that now discredited exam. RAYCIS!!  The real bottom line is that the entrance exam may not actually be actually racist, especially not after more than 40 years of anti-discrimination fine tuning, but the RESULTS are racially skewed.  What the courts call “disparate impact.” Because these days, Equal Opportunity = Equal Outcome. And that’s Social Justice. Anything else ... is raycis.

She-it. Can I dig up a darkie ancestor somewhere so I can claim my One Drop, and go get me a check for $65 LARGE? Dis brudda be jonesin for dat.

the politically correct always seem to win the day. wish we could be rid of them.

Just another example of the pandering to groups, of accommodating, of backing down.

In this case, all it took was just one foreign born young student by the name of Mamusu.  Here’s a person who hasn’t a clue.
Racist?  The movie is racist and so cancel the original planned theme for the ball.

GWTW was never my favorite movie but hell, I recognise how well it was done, and never thought of Negroes, the correct term in use back then, in a negative light based on the movie.  I had other problems.  I hated seeing the depiction of Atlanta being burned by those (censored).

It was a movie of romance, which for me all those many years ago was a bit of a bore.
But I don’t recall slavery being romanticised, and slavery wasn’t the main focus of the movie. But try and explain that to the politically correct ppl with names like Mamusu and Yasmin Lawal.  And btw, that movie produced the first Oscar given to a black actress. It was a reflection of the times.  Anyway, if students don’t approve of the theme, why not simply avoid it?  Oh no. Can’t do that. Better to censor those who wouldn’t be ‘offended’ and easier too.

I had lots to say but .... best I don’t.  Had I a cooler head ...  yeah well, thing is I don’t.

Cambridge University college forced to drop ‘racist’ May Ball theme

A Cambridge University college has abandoned plans to hold a Gone with the Wind-inspired ball after complaints that the film is racist.

Officials at St Edmund’s College have admitted that the organising committee was forced to change the theme after concerns were raised about the Oscar-winning film.
Starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, the 1939 film is famous for the romance between Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara but it has also been widely criticised for its depiction of black people.

There is a high percentage of foreign students at the 19th-century college, with around two-thirds of the students coming from 60 countries.
Mamusu Kallon, who was born in Sierra Leone and is a student at St Edmund’s, said she was dismayed by the choice of theme for the ball.

“It is a film that glamorises the romantic dreams of a slave owner and a KKK member while rendering the horrors of slavery invisible,” she said.
“The black characters fulfil every derogatory racist stereotype of the ‘slave’ and black people continue to be subject to the modern-day versions of these stereotypes. Surely Cambridge University should not be perpetuating this?”

Last month, students at the college, which counts the Duke of Edinburgh as an honorary fellow, agreed to change the theme of the May Ball. A college spokesman said: “The committee initially selected the theme of Gone with the Wind, but then changed it to ‘Journey through the Seasons’ after concern was expressed by some of our students.

“The college felt that it would have only been necessary for it to intervene formally if the matter had not been resolved satisfactorily. The college supports the change of theme and is proud of its record of friendliness and cordiality.”

The row comes only a week after members of Cambridge’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) committee launched a campaign asking students to speak out about instances of discrimination. Yasmin Lawal, the president of the BME committee, stressed that the aim of the campaign was to raise awareness of the issues facing ethnic-minority students in Cambridge.

Ms Kallon, a third-year human, social and political science student, said that there were issues to be addressed.

“I think there is a serious gap between policy and practice, and a refusal to understand that racism is not just the N-word or explicit in nature.”

After the name change, organisers of the ball, for which tickets cost as much as £129, promised partygoers that they would “experience all four seasons in one memorable night”.
“Our college grounds will evoke fruitful autumn gardens, long midwinter nights, the early hours of spring and the fierce passion of midsummer,” they said.

There’s no racist like a liberal racist

A recent one from Pat Condell

Hi, I’m Pat Condell.

I don’t respect your beliefs and I don’t care if you’re offended.

Cheers.

Now that we’ve got the formalities out of the way, welcome to my website.

Pat has his own website. I don’t know how long he’s had it. It is at Godless Comedy. What I found most interesting was that he links to news stories related to each of his commentaries.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
