No kidding BMEWS readers.  If the powers that be in this country can find different ways to do themselves in, they will do so and happily wave as their ship sinks.

Keep in mind that not every Brit goes along with the lunacy.  I don’t believe most do.  Not the ones I speak to anyway.  So how does this stuff happen?  I’m at a total loss to explain it.  It’s way beyond pc gone amuck.

Imagine this guys ... you own a business and two ppl are sharing a gag or a comment.  Someone overhears what is being said AND ... they can charge harassment under a new law if they say it offends them.  And that’s the least of a law taking effect today, a law pushed thru by the previous govt. under that hag, Harriet Harperson. (Harman) I tell ya, they are getting flakier and flakier here.

However .... here is something even dumber.  Oh, you didn’t think things could get dumber? Well in Spain, men are to be allowed breast feeding time off.
You could not make this up.  Govts. are just plain stupid when it come to common sense and going overboard to ensure that all people and all things MUST be equal. 

Seems that since women are given an hour or so to tend baby, then husbands also must get equal time.  Just what they’re supposed to do during this time isn’t stated.  Maybe join wifey dear and watch? Oh yeah, they still get paid for the time off. I think it’s called Spanish Practice. Pay but no work.

Death of the office joke: Coalition enacts Harriet’s PC equality law which means ANYONE can sue for ANYTHING that offends them

New equality laws masterminded by Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman have come into force today, threatening to create a political correctness minefield for recession-hit businesses.

Under the Act, vegans, teetotallers and atheists are to be given the same protection against discrimination as religious groups while gipsies and travellers will get special favours because of the ‘many socio-economic disadvantages’ they face.

There is also a provision which extends protection from third party harassment, meaning employers have a responsibility to shield their staff, where possible, from abuse by customers.

This has led to fears that bosses could be sued for jokes or comments that staff overhear and find offensive - even if it is not directed at or about them.
The Act, which ministers claim will help stamp out pay discrimination, have been slammed by employer groups who claim it will cost £189million to implement.

firms will be banned from asking job applicants about their health, while new protections for disabled people will make it easier for staff who have taken a large number of sick days or who look after elderly relatives to win unfair dismissal cases.

The Act will also make is easier for staff to claim they were discriminated against because of disability because they no longer have to prove they were treated less favourably than a non-disabled colleague.

Tory and Lib Dem ministers are still arguing about whether to implement Miss Harman’s notorious plans to force local authorities to discriminate in favour of the poor in order to narrow income inequalities.

The plans were hailed as ‘socialism in a single clause’ when Miss Harman unveiled them last year.

Sometimes the far left comes up with a good one. Well, by “good one” I mean an idea that is totally stupid but very difficult to criticize. This one makes me want to grind my teeth in rage because it’s so wrong, but it’s not going to be so easy to bust on it.


Latest Comic Book Superhero: A Muslim In A Wheelchair

Comic book fans will soon be getting their first glimpse at an unlikely new superhero—a Muslim boy in a wheelchair with superpowers.

The new superhero is the brainchild of a group of disabled young Americans and Syrians who were brought together last month in Damascus by the Open Hands Intiative, a non-profit organization founded by U.S. philanthropist and businessman Jay T. Snyder.

The superhero’s appearance hasn’t been finalized, but an early sketch shows a Muslim boy who lost his legs in a landmine accident and later becomes the Silver Scorpion after discovering he has the power to control metal with his mind.

Sharad Devarajan, co-founder and CEO of Liquid Comics whose company is now turning the young people’s ideas into pictures and a story line, said the goal is to release the first comic book—launching the disabled Muslim superhero—in early November in both Arabic and English.

Snyder says he was inspired by President Barack Obama’s effort to reach out to the Muslim world in his January 2009 inaugural address. Last month, Snyder flew 12 disabled Americans to Damascus to meet their Syrian peers, and one of their main goals was to come up with ideas and story lines for the new superhero.

Devarajan found the young people’s imagination to be quite amazing.

“Each of their ideas was so originally distinct, whether the Syrian kids or the U.S. kids,” he said, adding that perhaps because of their disabilities, the young people think as individuals without being influenced by outsiders. One girl, for example, wanted to have the power to combine the energy of the moon and the sun.

Devarajan said it was noteworthy that none of the young people wanted the hero’s power to be something that cured their disability.

“They were empowered by their own disabilities, and they should not be seen as a source of weakness,” he said.

The dozen Americans were selected after a national call for applications by The Victor Penada Foundation, a non-profit educational organization that promotes the rights of young people with disabilities. They included youths who were blind, deaf, using wheelchairs, or suffering from Down syndrome, autism, and cognitive disabilities.

The Syrians were invited by the Al-Amal school for the disabled whose chair, Asma Assad, the wife of Syrian president Bashar Assad, spent an afternoon meeting with the youngsters.

“It must be every child’s dream to create a superhero,” the Syrian first lady said in a video provided to the AP. “But I really do hope that we can bring our powers together—our human powers together—to be able to make a difference.”

Ok. I can accept RollerBoy and his super cool Wheelchair of Justice. Why not? That’s a positive message. And there is nothing wrong with a disabled superhero. Lots of people are disabled, kids included, so why not make a superhero that’s easy for them to identify with? And there is no reason that the superhero has to be a white guy. Heck, there have been plenty of superheros in the past who weren’t. Sure, make one who is middle eastern. Who cares? Granted, it’s a bit saccharin that he lost his legs in a landmine explosion, but that’s the real world. It happens, and it happens to children a lot in certain parts of the world. Awful, but real. The first issue is going to have to cover the boy’s accident, so it will be really illuminating who they show planted the mine in the first place. Want to bet the planters name is Ben-David?

But what is the point of specifically focusing on the fact that this one just happens to be a muslim? That I don’t see. I don’t think it ever played into the story lines that Captain America was Pentecostal. Is jizzlam going to play a central role in the story lines? Is his Transformer-like wheelchair named Al-Buraq or something? Does it fly like a magic carpet? Will the Silver Scorpion be out there righting wrongs by manipulating metal with his mental powers causing Jewish settlement housing to collapse? Maybe he’ll knock down skyscrapers filled with little Eichmanns just with the power of his mind. The odds that he’ll mind-ray the executioner’s sword into slag as it’s just about to behead or behand some captive being subject to jihad or sharia is pretty damn slim.

I think this is one of the more disgusting attempts of islamo-pandering I’ve ever seen. You can take the Cindy Sheehan “moral high ground” all you want, but don’t build an outhouse there and try to make us believe it’s a mansion.

Multiculturalism is in some ways almost more totalitarian than Communism. We just didn’t realize this at first. In Norway, Khalid Salimi, a Pakistani “anti-racist,” complained about the fact that too many white natives peacefully enjoyed music at a festival together in their own country. This wasn’t “diverse” enough.
Soon whites will literally be banned from congregating in separate groups. I no longer consider this a joke.

BMEWS readers may recall the post from a few days ago, regarding a German banker who wrote a book.  He decried the islamification of his country, he also said that Jews shared the same genes in the same way people anywhere do.  Well you’ll recall the sky fell on him and Jewish “activists” were “offended” as were muslims and of course Turks. He was critical of immigration naturally.  Well, he is no longer on the board of the bank.  I heard about it on the radio early today. 

If you go to the link go Gate of Vienna and read the whole thing by Fjordman, there is one thing I take serious issue with and believe to be totally false although I am willing to say (I hope) it’s just a bad mistake or something in translation. In an otherwise excellent bit of reporting, he says this.

The “conservative” President Sarkozy has said publicly that native Frenchmen have to mix with immigrants. It is thus mandatory in France to import Africans and breed with them.

It is true, as some observers point out, that many people make stupid choices and more or less freely vote for parties that insult them and take away their freedom and dignity. This is a very real problem and exposes some of the flaws of mass democracy. I don’t question that. The issue is whether there is also something else at work in the modern West in addition to this, and my answer to that is “yes”.

As Bat Ye’or has demonstrated in her pioneer work Eurabia and I have confirmed in my own book Defeating Eurabia, the leaders of the European Union have been promoting Third World mass immigration, including Muslim immigration, as a long-term policy for decades. Similar policies are no doubt at work in North America.
The harassment of the popular immigration critic Thilo Sarrazin in Germany and the hostile international reactions to the referendum against Islamic minarets in Switzerland clearly demonstrate that we are also dealing with a self-appointed transnational elite in power throughout the Western world who are consciously and deliberately trying to dismantle Western nation states using international law combined with massive propaganda campaigns, “anti-racist” brainwashing of people of European origins and above all mass immigration.
In his essay The Tea Party vs. the Intellectuals, Lee Harris describes how the USA’s intellectual elite has become radically out of touch with the sensibility of a large chunk of their nation’s population. He notes the “mounting dissatisfaction at living in a society in which a small group has increasingly solidified its monopoly over the manufacture and distribution of opinion, deciding which ideas and policies should be looked upon favorably and which political candidates will be sympathetically reported.”

$2.25 Billion for Reparations?

I am full-on confused here. WTFFFF?

Barack Obama and USDA’s Shirley Sherrod involved in reparations shake down?

Ok, there was this court case. Pigford v. Glickman. 1997. 400 black farmers felt they had been discriminated against by the USDA when applying for farm loans. They won. In 1999 each was given $50,000 for settlement. But by then the word had leaked out, and the original 400 plaintiffs had grown to a class action suit involving thousands. Sixteen thousand to be a little specific. It was the free money tree: all you had to be was black, and a farmer, and the government would cut you a check for 50 Large. Period. Done deal, no proof of anything discriminatory required. Yikes.

Well, that’s not entirely true. At the time the government was reviewing each claimant, and about 41% of them were denied.  But quite a few years later the case was re-opened. By a freshman Senator, Barack Obama. And by Chuck Grassley (R - IA). And the awarding started all over again, with those denied in the past now being accepted. And tens of thousands of new applicants accepted and approved. So many, in fact, that the number of applicants was 2 to 4 times greater than the actual number of black farmers, then, now, or ever. Go figure.

Somehow in this mess, Shirley Sherrod and her husband managed to get awarded a $13 million settlement, for a farm that they owned that had gone out of business. The largest settlement of all the Pigford claimants. How about that? And just after that, coincidentally, she got hired by the USDA. Amazing.

Now it looks like the total settlement amount could add at least $1.25 BILLION to the $1 BILLION already paid out.

What was originally a $20 million settlement has ballooned exponentially, twice. It does not appear that any real proof of discrimination, or even of actual farming, is necessary. It looks to me like somebody planted ACORNS and grew a money tree, and the fruit is ready for picking.

This really looks like a major scam. It looks like Sherrod and Obama are in it up to their necks. Please read the whole story, or at least as much as is known at this point, starting with

Rdoger’s post at C&S, a slightly longer synopsis at Hummers & Cigarettes then loads of details and data in Zombie’s post at Pajamas, and then by what might be the first post on this over at Free Republic. Googling up Pigford v. Glickman couldn’t hurt either.

From what I gather, $1 billion had already been paid out, back in 1999. Another $1.25 has been awarded, but the allocation of that money is in doubt. Looks like it was recently removed from a defense appropriations bill. How it was in there to begin with, God only knows, but that’s DC.

400 black farmers were discriminated against. Agreed. Pay them their settlement. 16,000 more tried to get some of that 11 years ago. Half failed. Now 89,000 black farmers are claiming they should be paid as well. Even though we have don’t have even half that many black farmers. How can this not be a scam? How the EFFITY EFF did Sherrod get $13 million and a job out of this? How can this not be some kind of stealth reparations in the most original form - because somewhere between $50,000 and $13 million really ought to enable you to buy 40 acres and a mule.

Spread the word. If this is not a con and corruption, then this is the biggest example of government ineptness ever. Ever. I want to see proof of discrimination for each and every loan application, all 89,000 of them, for the period in question. With further proof of farm ownership at that time. And 10 years in jail for any and every applicant who faked it. You can not join a class action suit after it is settled. That’s not allowed. It is not the fault of the government that the suit may not have been advertised sufficiently at the time, is it? You certainly can not be allowed to put your claim in 11 years after the fact. This smells to high heaven, and if it turns out to be rotten, then Chuck Grassley should get the axe too. Good intentions are no excuse if he didn’t investigate enough to smell a rat.

Will history books refer to the 44th American president as Barack Obama, Barack H. Obama or Barack Hussein Obama?

Late into the night, the Texas Board of Education considered these and other questions for the state’s social studies curriculum. The debate has set off a culture war, pitting conservatives against democrats in a battle that attracted 40,000 e mails from parents, teachers and academics from around the nation.

Despite deep political differences, the debate remained polite until the topic focused on President Obama. Then it got personal. Lawrence Allen, a black former high school principal from Houston offered a motion to enter President Barack Obama’s name in a section of the curriculum that recognized significant dates in U.S. History.

David Bradley, a white businessman from Beaumont, motioned that the president’s legal name should be used, Barack Hussein Obama. “I think we give him the full honor and privilege of his full name.”

“I am getting pretty fed up with this,” said Democrat Mary Helen Berlanger. “You don’t have to be derogatory. We don’t always put in Jefferson in William Jefferson Clinton.”

“The intent behind what you are doing I think is pretty obvious,” said Republican Bob Craig.

“This is our first black president,” said board member Mavis Knight, who is black. “You are making it sound humiliating.”

Well, it’s humiliating having this wiener in charge, so why not use his real name? I mean, his current real name. Um, the anglicized version of Buraq Hussein Obama. What the heck, he’s named for Mohammed’s griffin-like dream horse El-Buraq, so why not spell it properly? Would that be calling too much attention to his islamic roots? Maybe we should use the name on his birth certificate. Good luck with that one.

And the whole thing in Texas is utterly stupid. Duh, you list the guy’s whole name once, then you use his last name and title for everything you write about him. But I still think it’s funny that, nearly 3 years since he appeared on the national scene, that lefties still assume that they’re the target of some kind of insult whenever anyone says “Hussein”. Gee, too bad.

See now?  Here we are with an aggravating story that I’ve avoided all week. Can’t ignore it any longer and feel compelled to share this idiocy.

It’s exactly this type of verminous scum that someone like me would use the dreaded ‘N’ word about.  But then I have to make myself think a bit more.  Yeah, she’s still a nigger and there’s no doubt about that.  But who encouraged her?  Who taught her? Who put ideas into an otherwise empty but thick skull? Who?  I’ll tell ya.
Stupid white libtard jerks.  This whole civil and human rights thing has gotten so far out of hand, that a bitch like this can actually make a court case against the defense dept and the army based in part on one of the holy ‘isms.’ You know the one. Begins with R.

Whenever one of these life forms doesn’t get their way or decides they’ve been insulted, idiot white folks cave in so fast, anyone nearby gets pneumonia from the breeze they cause.  Lets be clear about one thing. It isn’t all black folks who think this way or act this way. I suspect they are damn well embarrassed by others of their color who do.

They have managed to make racists out of many people who weren’t that way inclined.

Which brings us now to the other dreaded “ism.” S E X I S M !  Oh yeah. And sister sexual harassment. 

Her commanding officer told her that the Army was a ‘ war-fighting machine’ and ‘unsuitable for a single mother who couldn’t sort out her childcare arrangements’.

The panel awarded Miss DeBique £15,000 plus interest of £2,016 for hurt feelings after it earlier ruled she suffered sex and race discrimination.

Single mother soldier who claimed £1.1m over childcare left her baby for two years

Her demand for more than £1.1million from the Army for sex discrimination would have enabled single mother Tilern DeBique to return home to her poverty-stricken Caribbean village in triumph as a rich woman.

Yesterday, however, the former corporal was having to revise her plans after a tribunal ruled she should receive only £17,016.

The 28-year-old from St Vincent, who calls herself SexyT on the internet, was told she made ‘an error of judgment’ in refusing a job in a family-friendly base where there were childcare facilities.

Tilern DeBique, who is known as SexyT on the internet, claimed £1.1m over childcare, but a tribunal ruled she should receive only £17,016

Miss DeBique, whose daughter Tahlia is now four, had argued that she was forced to choose between a military career and her child.

Yet the Daily Mail has discovered that while portraying herself as a devoted single mother, she has in fact spent nearly two years apart from her daughter after dispatching her to the Caribbean to live with her sister.

Tahlia was just three months old when she was handed over to her aunt Sonia. It was almost a year before Sonia took the child back to the UK to

be with her mother. And less than a year after that, Tahlia was back in St Vincent.

So what is the true story of the woman who poses on MySpace in a see-through top suggesting: ‘Give me a shout sometime’, and became embroiled in a three-year legal battle with the Army which cost the taxpayer an estimated £100,000?

This is not a short read but I would urge all to please read the entire thing. Beside being informative and interesting, it’s also a sterling example of how far into the stupid well too many white folks have fallen into.

When you’re done with that, see this one.  The writer doesn’t have it all correct as she says the panel in the end showed “common sense” or like words. You tell me. Where did common sense come into this?

After all, how could the Ministry of Defence have the temerity to expect a single mother to appear on parade when she couldn’t find appropriate childcare?

And how could the Army refuse her modest request for her sister to fly halfway around the world to look after her daughter?

Given the recent history of similar tribunal claims - for example the £484,000 paid to an RAF typist who injured her thumb - Ms DeBique had every reason to believe she’d hit the jackpot.

Mayor makes public apology for comparing illegal immigrants to sperm on Facebook.

Booting way earlier then normal for me but felt compelled to share this bit of bullshit.  I can’t believe anyone would want to make some sort of big deal out of this, and it just shows you all how far down this path humans (at least here in the UK) have fallen.  How much more pol. correct and how many more apologies must be made before someone with some sense say, that’s enough, damn it.  Sorry folks, but this sort of thing just gets the old dander up. RCOB.
Yeah I know, compared to lots of other things going on, so on and so forth.  Still, doesn’t mean this isn’t maddening. Stupid too.

Maybe if I had taken the time to grab that morning coffee first. Nahhh. I’d still be PO’d.

A mayor has made a public apology after posting a joke online comparing illegal immigrants to sperm.

Sue Mills, mayor of Great Torrington market town in Devon, made the posting on her Facebook page.

The 50 year-old wrote: “Illegal immigrants are like sperm - millions of them come in but only one works.”

The mayor said her comments were made in a private capacity and could only be seen by the 380 “friends” on the site.

She said: “I accept the comments on my page were out of character and never intended to cause offence.

“It was intended as a bit of fun and not designed to upset anyone. I wish to publicly apologise for this mistake and deeply regret any upset I mayhave caused.”

Michael Tyghe, the town clerk, said: “We are having a meeting to discuss the situation. There may be a comment from the council then. I have known Sue for sometime now and one thing she is not is racist. This is just a regrettable mistake in my opinion.”

Cllr Mills has been on Great Torrington Town Council for seven years and became the deputy mayor in 2007 before becoming mayor in May 2009.

SOURCE FOR THE STUPIDITY

I thought that was damn funny btw.  It was nothing to say sorry over. And it was not a mistake damn it. It was a funny line and true or not people can’t run around apologizing for every word said on the chance that one line or one word will offend.  If anyone takes offense at her line, then they have too much time on their hands to become offended and aren’t working. More likely receiving benefits in the form of council houses and weekly out of work cash benefits etc.
And for the town clerk to announce a “meeting to discuss the situation,” also shows how stupid ppl have become and how much they have bowed to PC.
Notice how easily the association to race is made here as well. That’s interesting.  She referred to ‘illegal immigrants’ not anyone in particular of any one racial group.  Illegals also come from countries with large white populations. So where exactly does a defense of racial attitudes come into this?
Even if she had referred directly to illegals coming from Jamaica or Africa, or some muslim countries where her comment would more then likely be right on the money, she still would have required NO defense based on race.  Jeesh. A simple funny joke and a town council has to have a freekin meeting. JERKS!

For her part, she makes things worse by saying sorry. That implies she did or said something wrong.
The world is a mad fuckin place and doesn’t show signs of getting better.  Not with this kind of thinking it doesn’t. 
I need my coffee.

WITH APOLOGIES TO MY BRIT FRIENDS BUT, WHEN IT COMES TO THIS SORT OF CRAP …..

If this sort of total bullshit isn’t stopped pretty damn soon, you really are well and truly doomed.
I am beyond anger or frustration with this kind of thing.  On the other hand, to give em left handed credit, the mus-slimes did carry signs saying to hell with freedom and hell to freedom of speech.  Which at that time they were themselves enjoying. Of course, THEY define what is and isn’t to be free I guess.

Imagine being “quizzed by the fuzz for saying this. But damn it, it is true.  I’m not upset with the police who after all must by the shit-ridden laws passed by the commie-sars in charge here, respond to complaints.  The fault isn’t theirs.  As for these hand wringing asswipes who wrap themselves in a flag of Human Rights, every single one with NO exceptions should be taken out.  It’s wet work sure but there are lots of patriots I’m sure who would be happy to volunteer to do the GOOD deed that needed doing.

Oh .. I almost forgot but this story just reminded me.  I have some good news to pass on. It’s a week old but better late then ....

A human rights lawyer was stabbed at his home about ten days ago. He bled to death.  I for one am very happy about that.  When I heard the story I couldn’t help but think, YES!  MORE-MORE.  ENCORE!

Some may regard that as somewhat extreme.  If you do, then you haven’t learned to hate enough. These slime are having a field day and have for years and look where its brought us.  I say we are all much better off with ALL of them graveyard dead.  If not all, then enough to discourage their followers. Alas, the west has no fist of steel. And no stomach for the job and the other side knows that.  That is why they are winning.

Please note, I am speaking strictly for myself. That’s my personal take on our world and the way I see it headed. All politically correct and social engineered and run by civil/human rights leftist bastards who enjoy the power and telling others how and what to think. Well screw em!

MP quizzed by police after saying ‘wearing burkha was like having paper bag over your head’

An MP was investigated by police for inciting racial hatred over controversial comments about the burkha following complaints from a human rights association.

Conservative MP Philip Hollobone said wearing the garment was the religious equivalent of ‘going round with a paper bag over your head’.

During a parliamentary debate last month he urged the House of Commons to ‘seriously consider’ banning the garment.

Now it has emerged police received a complaint about the Kettering MP a few days after his comments from the Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC).

Officers rang Mr Hollobone to say a complaint had been made but the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case a few days later as there were no grounds for prosecution.

Debates in Westminster are protected by parliamentary privilege but Mr Hollobone said the complaint could have related to comments made inside or outside the Commons.

He criticised the ‘hypocritical and ‘patronising’ NREC today for championing freedom of speech while attempting to have him prosecuted.

Last month the organisation sent the outspoken MP a letter criticising his stance on Muslim women who chose to wear the burkha in public.

Mr Hollobone said: ‘It’s complete hypocrisy. They talk on one hand about freedom of speech and expression and then without even making contact try to get me prosecuted.

‘In this country you should be able to have a debate about controversial subjects without the threat of police action. That’s how democracy works.

‘I am not going to be silenced by the threat of prosecution when all I am doing is speaking out about the concerns of my constituents.

‘If this had gone to court I would have defended myself.

‘I don’t blame the police at all, they are obliged to investigate reports of crime. That’s their job. But I am disgusted that the NREC should seek an MP’s prosecution.

‘I have been in correspondence with them and offered to meet representatives of local Muslim groups but that invitation is still outstanding.

‘The issue here is the covering of ones face in public. The nihab and the burkha are not legal requirements.

‘There are large numbers if immigrant women who will not be able to integrate into the British way of life if they cover themselves up.’

On March 11 Mr Hollobone used another Commons’ debate to mark International Women’s Day to reiterate his views on the burkha.

He said: ‘This is Britain. We are not a Muslim country. Covering your face in public is strange and to many people both intimidating and offensive.’ Burkhas are worn by an estimated 100,000 of the 2.4million Muslims in the UK.

Northamptonshire Police said the complaints related to comments made at the beginning of February in Parliament, although he also expanded on them in a local newspaper.

A police spokesman said: ‘It was brought to our attention and we looked into it but the CPS decided there was no case to answer here.’

Bungling foreign nurse can KEEP his job… despite barely any English and ‘worrying’ lack of competence

A bungling Indian nurse who could barely understand English and refused to learn the language can keep his job, a tribunal ruled today.

Biju John, 38, from Cambridge, has been declared fit to work even though the chairman of the Nursing and Midwifery Council panel said he displayed a ‘worrying’ lack of competence.

The hearing had been told staff felt they were ‘carrying’ him and did not feel safe leaving patients in his care.

He had even written to the NMC insisting he could understand instructions, stating ‘I never be confused at all (sic).’

The tribunal was told the Indian nurse had a limited knowledge of basic nursing skills and did nothing when a patient was struggling to breathe.

The NMC heard John, who did not attend the hearing, should have started basic airway management as the man gasped for breath after coming round from an operation.

John was this week found guilty of seven charges relating to his lack of competency when he worked at the hospital between July 2003 and December 2004.

These include failing to complete basic skills required of a nurse, not demonstrating his English was sufficient to communicate with colleagues effectively, which gave rise to the incident with the latex gloves, and failing to take appropriate action when a patient’s oxygen levels dropped.

However, the panel ruled John could keep his job subject to a number of conditions.

NMC chair David Kyle said his lack of competence was ‘worrying’ but ‘not irremediable’.

‘Other nurses felt they were carrying him. Anaesthetists were nervous about leaving their patients in his care and adopted a practice of returning to check on their patients because they were concerned about them.

So then, how much time should be allowed to bring this guy up to speed?  How many more chances should he have to perhaps kill someone?

And then there is this bit of fluff and nonsense as well.  No, the problem isn’t a non existent order that ended long ago. It’s PC and all it stands for.

Police banned from asking for someone’s ‘Christian’ name because it might offend those of other faiths

Police officers have been banned from asking for ‘Christian’ names for fear of offending other religions.

Officers taking down a suspect’s particulars must now refer to their ‘personal’ or ‘family name’ as the word ‘Christian’ could offend Muslims, Sikhs and other faiths, according to new diversity guidelines.

They are also warned not to use terms like afternoon or evening as it could confuse people of ‘different cultural backgrounds’ about the time of day.

The 62-page ‘Faith and Culture Resource’ booklet produced by the force’s diversity support group sets out customs and practices in a number of religions and beliefs including paganism and rastafarianism.

In it, officers are told to offer to remove their shoes on entering people’s homes as some religions frown upon shoes being worn inside the home.

Other handy tips for police include wiping their feet to get rid of mud when entering a gypsy’s trailer and not to put a cup of proffered tea on the floor as this could offend their standards of cleanliness.

Another guide also warns against the phrases ‘manning the phones’, ‘layman’s terms’ and ‘the tax man’, as it ‘makes women invisible’.

Harperson on the march again. Vegans to get discrimination rights along with teatotalers & atheists

I had no idea, not even a clue, that this particular grouping of people had problems of discrimination.  Vegetarians? Tea drinkers? Atheists? What next?
Naval ship’s captains? Jeesh.

One commenter in The Times wrote, Vegan...an old Native American word meaning poor hunter. LOL

I’m just guessing here but I’d say Ms Harperson deserves a few bats to add to the colony she already has in her belfry. 

Gee and to think. All those many youthful years and I was the victim of discrimination without ever knowing I was.  Who do I sue?  Says here that it’s unlawful for example to have ladies nights where they save money but men do not.  So I’m a past victim.  You too. Oh what a hard life and oh how unfair. Hey, how about we men demand restitution for all the extra money we spent while the ladies got into clubs for free. There ya go. We demand money and oh yeah. A sincere and heartfelt apology from all women.  Oh boy. This should be fun.

Don’t mock my lentils: vegans to get discrimination rights

VEGANS and teetotalers are to be given the same protection against discrimination as religious groups, under legislation championed by Harriet Harman, the equalities minister.

Members of cults and “new religions” such as Scientology, whose supporters include the film stars Tom Cruise and John Travolta, would also be offered protection, as would atheists.

A code of practice explaining the legal implications of the equality bill states that religions need not be mainstream or well known for their adherents to gain protection. “A belief need not include faith or worship of a god or gods, but must affect how a person lives their life or perceives the world.”

The code, drawn up by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, singles out vegans, who do not eat any animal products or wear leather, as meriting protection from religious discrimination. It says: “A person who is a vegan chooses not to use or consume animal products of any kind. That person eschews the exploitation of animals for food, clothing, accessories or any other purpose and does so out of an ethical commitment to animal welfare.”

A spokesman from the commission explained: “This is about someone for whom being vegan or vegetarian is central to who they are. This is not something ‘thought up by the commission’. Parliament makes the law, the courts interpret it and the commission offers factual and proportionate guidance to organisations where necessary. We are providing guidance on the implications of the equality bill.”

The legislation also covers “any religious belief or philosophical belief” and even “a lack of belief”.

Philosophical beliefs to be protected could include humanism and pacifism, but a spokesman for Harman said scientific or political beliefs such as Marxism and fascism would not be covered. The commission added that the recently founded International Church of Jediism, with 500,000 followers worldwide who base their philosophy on the Star Wars films, would not qualify. Beliefs had to be heartfelt.

The watchdog also warns that advertisements giving preferential treatment to men or women could be illegal. This could mean the end of “ladies’ nights” at clubs, when women receive cut-price drinks or free entrance but men pay full price.

People for whom abstention from alcohol was a way of life would also be protected. Conversely, the bill would make it unlawful for a shopkeeper to refuse to sell cigarettes to a woman because she was pregnant.

Danish paper apologises for printing Muhammad cartoon

A Danish newspaper has apologised for any offence caused when it reprinted a cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb-shaped turban in 2008.

Politiken said it was apologising as part of a settlement with Muslim groups in the Middle East and Australia.

Other Danish newspapers criticised Politiken for its move.

Twelve cartoons of Muhammad were initially published in 2006, sparking widespread protests by Muslims in various countries.

Politiken - and other papers - republished one in 2008 when police uncovered an alleged plot to kill cartoonist Kurt Westergaard.

Editor-in-chief Toeger Seidenfaden said on Friday: “We apologise to anyone who was offended by our decision to reprint the cartoon drawing.”

He told the Associated Press (AP) news agency that the paper still had the right to publish.
“We have the right to print Kurt Westergaard’s drawings, we have the right to print the original 12 drawings, we have the right to print all the caricatures in the world,” he said.

“We apologise for the offence which the reprint has caused. That is what we apologise for.”

Up until a couple of years ago, or was it only last year? I forgot. No matter because the then top dog at the MET, the metropolitan police, was a man who claimed to be quite “proud” of being “politically correct.” When the new consrv. mayor of London took over after ousting a self confessed communist mayor, he threw the bum out. Hmm. Wait. This is England and generally they are somewhat more polite. The new mayor didn’t throw out Sir Ian Blair but he did allow him to quit the post.  That man was probably the very worst thing that has ever happened to the police of this country, and they still have not recovered.
When I took the morning papers off the chair on the front porch, about the first story that caught my eye today was this.

Sir Ian Blair signed a formal agreement with an Islamic extremist to treat him as the Metropolitan Police’s “principal” representative of the Muslim community, it can be disclosed.

The activist, Azad Ali, was accepted by the Met as a trusted interlocutor. The force also agreed to give him information on forthcoming anti-terror raids. – Mr Ali has previously justified the killing of British troops in Iraq, believes al Qaeda is a “myth,” and has praised a key mentor of Osama bin Laden.

Mr Ali signed the deal, a copy of which has been seen by the Daily Telegraph, in his capacity as the then chairman of the Muslim Safety Forum – a body closely linked to the fundamentalist Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE).

The Muslim Safety Forum was set up, in its own words, to challenge the “unfair focus on the Muslim community when it came to policing activities and enforcement of anti- terror policing legislation.”

It was accepted by the police as a legitimate body. The agreement, dated December 2006 and personally signed by Mr Ali and Sir Ian, who was Commissioner of the Met at the time, states: “The Commissioner will recognise the MSF as the principal body in relation to Muslim community safety and security.”

Sir Ian or his deputy committed to meet Mr Ali and the MSF at least twice a year and to hold monthly meetings with the MSF at “New Scotland Yard or other suitable premises.”

The agreement says that the Met and MSF will “use the MSF as a consultation body to help formulate policy or practice.” and “progress an annual plan of work through agreed priority workstreams,” jointly led by Met and MSF representatives.

The Met also agreed to set up a four-strong panel with the MSF to offer the Muslim community a chance to comment on whether the information police had on a suspect was too flimsy and the consequences of a raid for community relations.

Mr Ali, one of the panel members, said at the time: “This will allow independent scrutiny of intelligence.”

US sports presenter suspended for calling colleague’s clothes ‘horrifying’

She’s 47 going on 16 looks like.

Oh good grief.  Political correctness alive and well in the USA.  Make a dumb comment or even one that’s right on the mark but still maybe dumb and ur toast.
Jeesh.  There’s a photo of the lady he was referring to at the link.  I think she she looks ridiculous as well. Pretty bad cloths sense. IMHO. So why should he be sidelined for venturing an opinion?  She didn’t complain and I don’t think he should have said sorry coz he was damn sure right.
But as always you can make up your own minds, I’m just sayin is all.  It certainly looks like a heads up the butt award for a PC,USA.

A popular US sports presenter has been suspended after calling a woman colleague’s clothes “horrifying” and saying she “dressed too young”.

Tony Kornheiser, 61, said television anchor Hannah Storm, 47, was wearing a shirt that was too tight and she looked “like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body”.
He said: “She’s got on red go-go boots and a Catholic school plaid skirt – way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s.”

Both presenters front shows for the ESPN sports network. Mr Kornheiser has been suspended for two weeks from his show Pardon the Interruption. Miss Storm co-hosts the SportsCenter show.
Mr Kornheiser said he had personally apologised to Miss Storm who is said to have laughed off his comments.

He said: “If you put a live microphone in front of somebody, eventually that person will say something wrong. As result of this, I have been sent to the sidelines for a while.”
He added: “I’m a troll, look at me. I have no right to insult what anybody looks like or what anybody wears.”

Discussing her wardrobe in 2008 Miss Storm said she liked “fitted and feminine” clothes.
She said: “I think you can look age appropriate but still don’t have to sacrifice style.”
John Skipper, ESPN’s vice president for content, said: “Hurtful and personal comments such as these are not acceptable and have significant consequences.”
