A Dark Ending

My sister in law’s sister in law’s body was discovered this evening. She killed herself by alcoholism. It took at least 20 years. It was well hidden; I didn’t even know she was a drinker until two years ago. I guess she had it under control for a long time, but the last year or so really spiraled downwards, and not by accident.

Everybody was willing to help her, to get her help, to talk, to anything. And she rejected all of it. The worst kind of morning after effects were no epiphany. As far as I know, and I’m an outsider here, she went down the path into darkness knowingly.

It’s very sad, and right now I’m very conflicted.

A lot of the time, life sucks. It’s not just you. It sucks for every one of us. Careers end. Jobs stop. Money issues. Legal problems, sometimes very bad ones. Relationships turn bad. But we persevere. We get knocked down, but we get up again. And sometimes if a hand up is offered, you take it. You don’t resent people for trying. They’re not doing it out of pity or contempt. There is no shame involved. They’re doing it out of love, because that’s what family is. Friendships too. No matter what.

So if you are sinking down, you don’t have to drown alone. Hell, you can even reach out to this blog, and comment by the paragraph. It’s happened before. And we will stand by you.

Goodbye LJ. I wish I’d known you better. I wish I could have helped. I wish I’d known earlier. I wish I’d ... anything.

I probably shouldn’t post this.

Peiper, his wife, and Alderly

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

JRR Tolkien

Vilmar was kind enough to use some of his photographic skills to make good copies of the few pictures I got from their executor some time ago when he settled their estate. They’re gone a long time now, and probably so is the charming but decrepit little English bungalow they lived in on the outskirts of Winchester, out in the quiet farm lands. I always teased him that he was a hobbit living in the Shire, on a cowpath at the edge of the barrow downs. The house had no number, merely a name. Alderly. Their ancient [bronze age] gnarled and pollarded tree lined driveway-width street has been “discovered” and many of the old homes have been bought up and torn down to make way for modern McMansions. And so the past passes.

They never had chidren.

Peiper was my co-blogger here for years. We exchanged letters, emails, books, presents. We were both fascinated by tales of the old pirate days, and our friendship grew from there. We both loved to read, and the esoteric bits of history. I kept her well supplied with fancy chocolates and holiday goodies after he passed away, along with cards and letters on a regular basis.

I’m not sure of when this picture was from, one of their anniversaries I think, but it shows them both in good health and spirits. And that’s how I shall remember them. Peiper, JayD, Jay. His real name was Joel Diamond, and he and his wife Jennifer died a few years ago.

They were my best friends that I never met, and I only talked to her a few times. I don’t think I ever even talked to Jay, although I kept the phone message he left on our machine after hurricaine Sandy for many years. Digital brothers. She was the most charming woman I’ve ever spoken to. Ten minutes on the phone and it felt like we’d known each other our whole lives. I miss them both.

Click on the image of them for a larger version if you’d like.

UPDATE: Wardmama found a couple old emails they’d shared, and one had a picture of Peiper and “his” gold record. He was a country music DJ in Nashville for a good number of years.

image

It was the late Royce Kendall on the right, who made sure I was given a gold album (the record co. gave me a plaque for the single).  It would never have occurred to me to think I had one coming, altho in all truth I was the one to get the ball rolling and was the first DJ to pull that song off the LP and play it as a single.  Year is 76. Gosh.

Sure wish I could have my hair back if nothin’ else.

Peiper’s memory might be off a little bit. Looking into the discography of The Kendalls, a father and daughter singing duo, their big hit, was Heaven’s Just a Sin Away, gold record, Grammy winner, #1 on Billboard country tunes ... which came out in 1977.

A Month Late And A Trillion Short

President Trump Orders US Flags To Half Mast For 3 Days For COVID Deaths

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that he would order flags to fly at half-staff to memorialize Americans lost to the coronavirus.

“I will be lowering the flags on all Federal Buildings and National Monuments to half-staff over the next three days in memory of the Americans we have lost to the CoronaVirus,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The president announced his decision after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked Trump to mark the day when America reached the milestone of 100,000 deaths from the virus.

Pelosi and Schumer wrote in a letter to President Trump:

We will always carry their memory in our hearts. As we pay our respects to them, sadly, our country mourns the deaths of nearly 100,000 Americans from COVID-19. Our hearts are broken over this great loss and our prayers are with their families.

Currently the number of coronavirus deaths in the United States stands at 94,591 according to data tracked by Johns Hopkins University.

The president said that the flags would fly at half-staff on Memorial Day to honor Americans who died serving in the U.S. military.

“On Monday, the flags will be at half-staff in honor of the men and women in our Military who have made the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Nation,” he wrote.

On the one hand, this is a fine, temporary gesture, coming just before Memorial Day when all the flags would be dipped in remembrance anyway.

On the other hand, while it may appear that he is making a bi-partisan gesture, he is being manipulated by Pelosi and Schumer, essentially admitting defeat. That’s not what he’s doing, but that’s how the MSM and millions of people will see it.

On the third hand, this is all “a day late and a dollar short” to me, as all the states around me have been flying the flag low for so long now. For a day or two, it’s a fine thing. For more than a month, it’s defeatism. yes, there has been the days set aside for police memorial, but most of this has been for coronavirus deaths. And that bugs me. All the other deaths from all the other illnesses, accidents, old age, etc, far outstrip the somewhat nebulous numbers of “covid caused, covid related, covid suspected” victims. It begins to feel like a con. Defeatism. Keep the sheep sad and they stay in line longer. And I’m getting damn sick and tired of that.

[ May 15 ] In Connecticut, state and U.S. flags are half staff indefinitely in recognition of all those whose lives were lost or affected by COVID-19.
...
Illinois has joined the states who are lowering their flags for the victims of COVID-19.
...
In Massachusetts, flags at soldiers’ home facilities and veteran cemeteries began flying half-staff on April 19 until a date to be determined in respect of veterans and Soldiers’ Home residents who died from COVID-19.
...
In Michigan, state and U.S. flags are flying half staff indefinitely, according to a proclamation that went into place on April 10.
...
In New Jersey, all state flags and U.S. flags are being flown at half-staff indefinitely in memory of the people who have lost their lives to the coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation was placed by Gov. Philip D. Murphy on April 3 and is still ongoing
...
In New York, all flags on state government buildings will fly at half-staff indefinitely while the state is “on pause” due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on April 8.
...
In Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered that all commonwealth flags on commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and public grounds fly at half staff indefinitely in honor of the victims of the 2019 novel coronavirus. The proclamation was put into place on April 8.

A gesture overused loses meaning, impact, and importance. This extended “act of mourning” is no more than empty virtue signalling. This offends me, as a significant tradition is being besmirched. Watered down to nothing. And every one of the states doing it is run by Democrats.

The Last Freeman Has Passed Away

Freeman Dyson, Leading Physicist, Polymath, 96

Theoretical physicist Freeman J. Dyson, known for his work across multiple scientific disciplines, passed away on February 28 in Princeton, NJ

Dyson was a mathematical prodigy who started his career on the right foot, publishing a landmark paper during his graduate studies in 1949 that would help advance the theory of quantum electrodynamics. His insights would lead to a better understanding of quantum mechanics and special relativity, a “Rosetta Stone of physics,” according to the IAS

Dyson was critical of the scientific establishment’s devotion to and dependence on mathematical abstractions. This bled into his later criticism of the accuracy of climate modeling, and disagreement with the scientific community’s urgency to pursue climate change efforts because of them.

In his later years, he considered himself an environmentalist “in love with frogs and forests,” but was critical of the focus on climate change over what he defined as more “urgent problems” like overfishing and habitat destruction

And yes, the Dyson Sphere was named for him, even though he didn’t invent it. But he did work out the details and the numbers, and the concept itself showed just how - literally - far out there his mind was. Take a star with a habitable planet. As life evolves on that planet, the intelligent species consumes more and more energy. The ultimate source of their energy is solar, but a planet is just a small thing. So rebuild the planet. Rebuild the whole solar system. Mine the galaxy and invent scrith. (and maybe discover slood along the way) Build a RingWorld, and then grow that into a RingBall. An entire sphere that completely encloses the star, sized equal to the planetary diameter, captures all the energy the star can provide. And gives you about 100 trillion times as much room as a mere planet. And blocks all the radiation from your Sun and your civilization, so it hides you from hostile aliens. That’s thinking big.

And now he’s gone.

Obama throws Orlando Victims under the Bus

As if we weren’t already reeling from all this death already. Both on this site and in general. The floor of the Pulse Club at Orlando is still awash in blood, the local hospitals still have people from Mateen’s shooting rampage in them, Israelis are mourning yet more murdered by The Usual Perpetrators, Bangladesh has Jihadis killing Hindus, Peiper has passed on… and honestly you just wish for a time in the world to not cry and cry and cry.

Much less spend hours trying to contact family friends living in that neck of the woods on the off chance things aren’t ok with them. But boy oh Boy, do we have a treat for you....

Have you ever wondered what things might have been like if- in the face of clear and present threats- the government refused to acknowledge the threat by its’ name? Well, we no longer have to because that’s the situation we live in, and have been living in for the *past Eight YEARS.* Now they’ve just made it clear how deep that goes, even when the butchers come for the “LGBTwhatever” community that is supposed to be a preserve- and set of special snowflake clients- for the Left. In the days since the mass murders, Obama has failed the American people so crushingly. Let us count the ways:

1. Not bothered to identify the Orlando shooter- or any of the perpetrators lately- by ideology or name.

2. Refused to give any statements or plans on how we will counterattack said ideological godfathers of this crime.

3. Called for yet more restrictions on our Second Amendment Right, which will make it even HARDER for the supposedly precious LGBTs- and everyone else- to defend themselves against an atrocity like this.

Over at PJ Media they do a good job showing how self-defeatingly stupid This is.

The more incompetent the Obama administration becomes, the less convincing its demand for public disarmament will be. Conversely, the more competence the administration demonstrates, the more likely the public is to entrust its safety to it.

Historically, state failure drives civilian armament, not the other way around. Perhaps the clearest example of this trend is Lebanon, where the inability of the central government to protect the sectarian communities has led each to protect itself. While America is not Lebanon, the same principles hold true: competence inspires confidence, and there is precious little competence in the administration.

Other people have covered this much, much better than I can. So please, I encourage you, check them. Victor Davis Hanson, Neo-Neocon, Ace of Spades, and the incomparable Mark Steyn (as well as Fernandez) have all given incredibly valuable things on this, but linking them all and giving juicy excerpts would probably bulk this post up too much. So I’ll limit my link to some gallows humor (Scimitar Sidebursters?)

Standard Leftist Procedure for after a Jihadist Massacre

But as for where my input comes in.... I have had my misgivings with Trump and still do, but I will say that I have been very, very impressed by how he has preformed here. Both in terms of how he has skillfully covered the issue (I do think he has been a rather sharp political operator lately), but on the moral and ethical issues. He did not HESITATE to identify the ideology that drove this atrocity and call out Obama for both trying to disarm law abiding American citizens using it and the disproportionate anger the manchild in chief had for him over *the man who murdered American citizens.* My recitation here can’t do it justice, so please read it too.

But of course, soon after he pointed it out you had the usual talking heads, apologists, and spin doctors get on their high horses to try and say “What’s the big deal?” That it really really really doesn’t matter if Obama or others use the term “Jihadist”, “Islamist”, “Radical Islam”, or- God Forbid- Islam itself to describe the perpetrator or his motivations. Or to quote Obama’s former rival, Secretary of State, and current (grudging) heir, “What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?”

Well, I’ll tell you. Because all of these supposedly genius, big brained individuals are burning a lot of calories and doing a lot of mental gymnastics to try and avoid dealing with something that is really *Very, VERY simple.*

To avoid getting too deep into the linguistics (because I am not sure i know enough about it), words are a medium for conveying meaning. We use them to communicate concepts, ideas, and thoughts. I say “water” and you know I’m talking about what you drink. I say “Moss” and you know to look at green stuff growing on a rock.

I write “Pet” and you look to your pets.

And if I write OR say “cowardly dipshit” you look to the White House.

So the words you use are important for what kinds of concepts you convey, and thus what the nature of your message is. This is also relevant for the words you DON’T use. I’m *PROBABLY* not going to talk about a disaster where a bridge collapsed the exact same way if it was brought down because of construction flaws as if it was collapsed by a Bomb. Both are tragedies and both feature very similar chain of events, but one was an accident or negligence, the other is MASS MURDER.

And likewise, I am not going to blame the construction company for the collapse if it was primarily caused by a terrorist bomb, and I’m not going to call the construction company “terrorists” in the event they were to blame (even if they were massive douchebags whose actions claimed many lives).

Identifying the cause of the tragedy, its’ perpetrators (where there are any), and the motive for why they acted the way they did are CRITICAL to understanding why it happened, how it happened, and HOW IT COULD BE PREVENTED. As well as notifying the public of these facts and educating them on any threats they face, whether from depraved corruption in the meat industry, bad contractors, or totalitarian ideologies that want to murder or enslave us all.

Obama and his minions either don’t get this or are trying very very very hard to pretend they don’t.

But enough of me talking; let’s imagine what might have happened if other Presidents that came before took a similar approach to Obama. Let’s make a game out of it. I’ll stick some Obama-ated historical quotes below the cut. Can you guess A: The enemy it was originally referring to, and B: Who said it? I’m not even going to pick on the low hanging fruit and show how the other party has done it; For the sake of it, let’s limit ourselves to other Democrats.

Go to the comments if you want the answers.

Last Post For Peiper

It is my sad duty to let you all know that Joel Diamond died this morning sometime before 11am Eastern.

Known to us as Peiper, or JayD, or JD, or Jay, or whatever ... he had been released from hospital to a recovery center about a week ago, after being returned to the hospital after a mere 30 hours in the recovery center before that. Prior to that, he was in pretty intensive care since March 29, when he suffered a major thoracic aneurysm. And everything went downhill from there.

His wife Jen left me a message on my answering machine which I did not see until I got home this evening. She is distraught of course.

I can’t write right now. And to think I just started bombarding him with cards and letters, celebrating his second escape from Nurse Ratchett. After all, he was alert, up, and walking around a bit. So it was all Hurrah!!

All that mail should just about be showing up there now. I doubt if he ever even saw one.

I’ll call her tomorrow. I want to send huge flowers. I want this to have not happened.

So Long, Nancy

Nancy Reagan, 94

image

Nancy Reagan, one of the most high-profile and influential first ladies of the 20th century, has died. She was 94.

The cause of death was congestive heart failure, according to her rep Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman with the Reagan Library.

“Mrs. Reagan will be buried at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, next to her husband, Ronald Wilson Reagan, who died on June 5, 2004,” Drake wrote in a statement.

No More Fish

Abe Vigoda, 94. Actually, honestly dead this time for real

image

It’s no longer a hoax: Abe Vigoda is actually dead.

The Brooklyn-born character actor, famous for both his roles in “The Godfather” and TV’s “Barney Miller” during the ‘70s and for being erroneously proclaimed dead multiple times ever since, passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 94.

The long-time television fixture’s daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, told The Associated Press that her father passed away peacefully in his sleep while staying at her Woodland Park, New Jersey, home.

Sad to see him go, but 94 is a good long life. And with him gone, the dead pool perennial candidate list narrows to Fidel and Zsa Zsa.

it was bound to happen. the question is why it took this long. young and dead at 22

Yesterday I did a couple of posts on Sweden, and also posted videos by Pat Condell.

And when I booted a short while ago ....

I saw this.

Heartbroken mother of refugee worker ‘stabbed by 15-year-old asylum seeker’ in Sweden

‘She was not only my daughter, she was my angel’:  weeps as police warn they cannot cope with rising tide of migrant violence

Alexandra Mezher, 22, fatally stabbed at migrant centre where she worked

Her family, who are originally from Lebanon, described her as ‘an angel’

Boy aged 15 living at the centre has been arrested on suspicion of murder

Teenage killer was overpowered by other children living at the centre

Swedish police demand more cash to stem rising violence in the country

Family blames ‘Swedish politicians’ for the attack after record migration

By Sara Malm and Keiligh Baker and Ulf Andersson In Stockholm, Sweden, For Mailonline

The mother of the young Swedish social worker who was allegedly stabbed to death by a 15-year-old asylum seeker at a shelter for refugee children wept today and said, ‘She was not just my daughter, she was my angel.’

image

Alexandra Mezher, 22, was working alone with ten youths aged between 14 and 17 when she was attacked at the home for unaccompanied young migrants in Mölndal, near Gothenburg. She later died of her injuries in hospital.

Chiméne Mezher, 42, today spoke of her anguish at the loss of her daughter as the family blamed Swedish politicians for her death. Sweden is one of the main destinations for refugees and migrants entering the EU and police warn they cannot cope with the tide of migrant-related crime.

Miss Mezher’s cousin also told Swedish media: ‘It is the Swedish politicians’ fault that she is dead.’

The incident comes amid rising tensions over migration in Sweden. The number of threats and violent incidents at asylum facilities doubled between 2014 and 2015.

Police have warned the city’s train station is ‘overrun’ by gangs of migrants who are ‘groping’ women and have called for more resources to cope.

Prime minister Stefan Lofven has also admitted that many people are fearful of a similar attack because ‘Sweden receives so many children and youths arriving alone’. Last year Sweden took in more than 160,000 asylum seekers in 2015, putting it among the EU states with the highest proportion of refugees per capita.

Alexandra, of Lebanese Christian origin, lived with her parents Boutros, 46, and Chiméne Mezher, and her younger brothers in Borås, some 40 miles from Molndal.

Her father came to Sweden from Beirut, Lebanon, in 1989 and her mother moved there three years later.

It has now emerged that Miss Mezher had been working alone at the housing in Mölndal, which is home to ten unaccompanied minors.

Police said Miss Mezher was attacked shortly before 8am on Monday by a boy, who was then apprehended by other children living at the centre.

She was taken to Sahlgrenska Hospital in Gothenburg, but died later on Monday as a result of her injuries.

Officers discovered a knife at the scene and the teenager has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Swedish police have today praised the actions of the other children living in the facility, hailing them ‘heroes’ after they overpowered the boy after he attacked Miss Mezher.

CONTINUES WITH TEXT AND PHOTOS

Almost all we have heard over the last few weeks is the weeping and hand wringing over those poor, poor unaccompanied youths whose needs must be cared for.
We keep hearing over and over about “children”.  Children my butt.  In today’s world, youth ends pretty early. Even in my day, we knew right from wrong and we knew what a criminal was.  Even in my day we weren’t all that innocent at age 12.
But heck ... what else can we expect from a yootful muzzbot ?

Oh poor kid, they’ll send him to a youth center of some kind for a few years. Or maybe no years, as after all, the kid is actually, under age.
Is that some crap er what?
But life is over for the young volunteer, age 22. The poor girl volunteered because she wanted to help others.
Unfortunately, sadly, those she was trying to do good deeds for, aren’t humans.  Her time and efforts would have been more profitably spent, helping out at some animal rescue center.

Of the thousands of “children” who have made the crossing and managed to get themselves situated, with public purse benefits of course,
one can not help but wonder how long it will be before mommy and daddy and some first cousin, also get a pass to join up with, their kids.

There is so much more I want to say and can’t find the right words.

attack on Christianity

I am needed elsewhere but just had to share this.  You might have seen it already.

Meanwhile ... invaders continue to land in Europe and there is to be sure a backlash. But it won’t really amount to much unless European patriots in numbers, which so far they apparently lack, start stacking up the bodies in impressive enough numbers to discourage any others from coming, and to scare the hell out of the weak/left Euro leadership.  And they need to utterly destroy the 5th column and the rights industry.  Usually the same ppl.

Oh and get this new demand from the EU regarding migrants.  These folks just never learn.

An EU commission is demanding that Britain agree to accept migrant quotas. They are demanding Britain sign up to the quota system, or be blocked from deporting thousands of asylum seekers.

Which has nothing to do with my post this morning.  I just thought you’d find it of some insane interest.

The other news of much interest to Christians I would think everywhere, but even those who are not, who see the madness this group want to inflict on the entire world.  As well as the many ppl who have interest in antiquity.

Isis ‘to eliminate Christianity from Iraq’: 1,400-year-old St Elijah’s Monastery of Mosul flattened

By Umberto Bacchi
Intl. Business Times

The Islamic State (Isis) destruction of Iraq’s oldest Christian monastery has been met with shock and despair by religious figures and heritage conservationists around the globe. Satellite images obtained by AP revealed the 1,400-year-old St Elijah’s Monastery of Mosul has been completely flattened.

The battle against Isis goes on in ‘liberated’ Ramadi, a city reduced to rubble

“I can’t describe my sadness,” Father Paul Thabit Habib, a priest from Mosul now in exile in Irbil, told the news agency. “Our Christian history in Mosul is being barbarically levelled. We see it as an attempt to expel us from Iraq, eliminating and finishing our existence in this land.”

Built between 582 and 590AD by Assyrian Christian monk Dair Mar Elia, from which it took the name, the holy site dear to the Chaldean Catholic community been a place of pilgrimage for centuries. Damaged in the 2003 Iraqi war, it was briefly turned into an Iraqi and later US military encampment before its cultural value was recognized and a preservation project started.

Mosul fell to IS (Daesh) fighters along with large swathes of Iraq in spring 2014. The jihadi group has systematically blown up or bulldozed ancient monuments it perceives as blasphemous symbols of different religions in areas it controls.

World heritage sites in Nineveh, Palmyra and Hatra are among the more than 100 religious and historic sites, including mosques, shrines and churches that have fallen the victim to IS iconoclastic violence.

The St Elijah’s Monastery was one of the first to fall into IS’s hands but the destruction had not before been confirmed. An analysis of the satellite photos pinpointed the date somewhere 27 August and 28 September 2014.

“Oh no way. It’s just razed completely,” Suzanne Bott, a conservation practitioner who worked at the monastery for two years, told AP upon seeing the satellite images. “What we lose is a very tangible reminder of the roots of a religion.”

The revelation came a day after the UN reported IS had repeatedly blown up houses of Christians living in Iraq in an attempt to consolidate its brutal rule by punishing minorities and potential opponents. In a report on the conflict, the world body said it documented the destruction of at least 31 Christian homes in the Mosul area from May to October 2015.

recent /source

And in a bit of side news.

IS is alleged to have committed a series of atrocities in 2015. On 10 July militants forced victims to lie to down in central Mosul in front of a large bulldozer, which drove over them. On 1-2 August IS militants allegedly killed 19 women in Mosul for refusing to have sex with fighters.

On 21 June women were offered as sex slaves to the top three winners of a Quran memorisation competition in Mosul. On 23 June an IS group video shows men placed in a car and hit by rocket-propelled grenade, men drowned in a cage and men decapitated with explosives.

It also contains claims that a group of child soldiers fleeing the frontline in Anbar province were killed.

But the west must play by rules. And play is the correct word, even if ISIS isn’t playing at what they do.
Hey .. Want insanity of the west and lawyers and war?

Howz this?

A former Brit sniper who took out a vermin firing on his troops, ten yrs ago?
Is now to be questioned because he did not give a warning to the poor terrorist victim of western racist attitude.
italic is mine.

Eagles Guitarist Glenn Frey Dead

Glenn Frey, 67

image

… the cause of death was a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.

Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We’re told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. He died in New York City.

Glenn also got into acting, snagging a recurring role on “Miami Vice.”

He reunited with the Eagles in ‘94 for their monster Hell Freezes Over tour and recorded music till the end, releasing what would be his fifth and final solo LP, “After Hours,” in 2012.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been fighting intestinal issues for awhile but his condition relapsed before the holidays, forcing the Eagles to pull out of their Kennedy Center Honors appearance in December. At the time, the band said he needed major surgery that would require a lengthy recovery.

Don Henley said, “He was like a brother to me; we were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken.”

Glenn Lewis Frey (pronounced Fry; born November 6, 1948) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and actor, best known as a founding member of the Eagles. Frey formed the Eagles after he met drummer Don Henley in 1970 and the two eventually joined Linda Ronstadt’s backup band for her summer tour. The Eagles formed in 1971 and released their debut album in 1972. Glenn Frey played guitar with the Eagles as well as piano and keyboards, and shared lead vocals with Don Henley. The Eagles broke up in 1980 after becoming one of the most successful bands of all time. Frey sang lead vocals on many Eagles hits such as “Take It Easy”, “Peaceful Easy Feeling”, “Tequila Sunrise”, “Already Gone”, “Lyin’ Eyes”, “New Kid in Town”, and “Heartache Tonight”. After the breakup of the Eagles in 1980, Frey embarked on a successful solo career. He released his debut album in 1982 and went on to record Top 40 hits “The One You Love”, “Smuggler’s Blues”, “Sexy Girl”, “The Heat Is On”, and “You Belong to the City”.

Fred Is Dead

Actor, two term Senator, attempted Republican Presidential Candidate, and perennial TV huckster of reverse mortgages and other geegaws for seniors Fred Thompson has died. He was only 73.

Fred Thompson, a former U.S. senator from Tennessee, GOP presidential candidate, Watergate attorney and actor who starred on the television drama “Law and Order,” died on Sunday in Nashville. He was 73.

Mr. Thompson died after a recurrence of lymphoma, according to a prepared statement issued by the Thompson family. Mr Thompson, who had recently purchased a house in Nashville to return to Tennessee, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2004.

“It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, husband, father, and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville surrounded by his family,” the Thompson family’s statement reads.

“Fred once said that the experiences he had growing up in small-town Tennessee formed the prism through which he viewed the world and shaped the way he dealt with life,” his family said. “Fred stood on principle and common sense, and had a deep love for and connection with the people across Tennessee whom he had the privilege to serve in the United States Senate. He enjoyed a hearty laugh, a strong handshake, a good cigar, and a healthy dose of humility.

they’re coming and the UK will be worse off. as usual.

I don’t normally do it this way but ....

I thought one little example from the following Littlejohn commentary was worth it.
This little one minute clip should be multiplied times a thousand, because that’s how bad things are.
And some of these miserable vermin are now arming themselves, if reports are to be believed.  And they should be. Look who the authorities must deal with. Savages hardly out of their trees and caves.

THE DEATH OF THE WEST AS INVASION CONTINUES UNABATED

Good grief Charlie Brown.

From last Tues to Friday alone, 7,000 illegal migrant invaders of Europa were stupidly saved by various ship nationals.  The Italians had already given up, as I understand things, on the wholesale deployment of their small navy and coast guard. The Greeks said today they “Can not cope” after the influx had tripled.

The only good news to come out of all of this, is that some 400 more invaders drowned in leaky boats in rough seas. Good.  The pity is it could not be the 7,000 newest arrivals to darken, in more ways than one, what once was a superior culture.

image
Lets not kid ourselves.  Most of these invaders, and lets not call em anything else, are not skilled labour.
And very soon, they’ll be coming to a neighbourhood near you. And maybe next door.
Even the EU now openly say that “migrants have become a flood”.

The Greeks have appealed to the EU for help in handling the invasion of these unwanted, unwashed lice carrying filth.
What a switch.
What the hell did the Greek do when Italy invaded their country?  Didn’t they kick ass until the Italians had to request the help of superior soldiers and commanders? And even then, the Greeks fought the Germans too.

The Greek (and Italians) do not need NATO or EU help.  What’s wrong with these people that they just refuse to defend to the death their countries?
I mean the death of those invading them.
Napalm, poison gas, machine guns, cannon.
Any of the above or a combination of all, will not stem the tide.

It will stop it dead in it’s unwashed, unwanted tracks.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
