Ted Rall: It’s increasingly evident that Obama should resign

MIAMI — We expected broken promises. But the gap between the soaring expectations that accompanied Barack Obama’s inauguration and his wretched performance is the broadest such chasm in recent historical memory. This guy makes Bill Clinton look like a paragon of integrity and follow-through.

From health care to torture to the economy to war, Obama has reneged on pledges real and implied. So timid and so owned is he that he trembles in fear of offending, of all things, the government of Turkey. Obama has officially reneged on his campaign promise to acknowledge the Armenian genocide. When a president doesn’t have the nerve to annoy the Turks, why does he bother to show up for work in the morning?

Obama is useless. Worse than that, he’s dangerous. Which is why, if he has any patriotism left after the thousands of meetings he has sat through with corporate contributors, blood-sucking lobbyists and corrupt politicians, he ought to step down now — before he drags us further into the abyss.

I refer here to Obama’s plan for “preventive detentions.” If a cop or other government official thinks you might want to commit a crime someday, you could be held in “prolonged detention.” Reports in U.S. state-controlled media imply that Obama’s shocking new policy would only apply to Islamic terrorists (or, in this case, wannabe Islamic terrorists, and also kinda-sorta-maybe-thinking-about-terrorism dudes). As if that made it OK.

In practice, Obama wants to let government goons snatch you, me and anyone else they deem annoying off the street.

Preventive detention is the classic defining characteristic of a military dictatorship. Because dictatorial regimes rely on fear rather than consensus, their priority is self-preservation rather than improving their people’s lives. They worry obsessively over the one thing they can’t control, what George Orwell called “thoughtcrime” — contempt for rulers that might someday translate to direct action.

Of course Old Stinky goes on to get most of it wrong, calling that one captured Somali pirate a child whom we have no right to try [ True! We should have just shot him with the others! ] and how the poor widdle tewworists in Gitmo should all be set free. Ted is still an asshole. But on this one point I tend to agree with him.

Signs and portents folks, signs and portents.

PS - one commentor there put it in a nutshell, albeit a very bitter one: Leave Obama Alone. Because if he goes, we get Biden. If Biden goes we get Pelosi. If Pelosi goes we get Byrd. If Byrd goes we get Clinton. Damn. There isn’t a good pick until we get all the way down to Assistant Dog Catcher. Shit.

Shirk Gets The Shaft

Dear Senator,

I am fairly certain you are going to merely send me a canned response that I am not your constituent, and you therefore could care less how I feel. However, I am part of a movement that will put you back where you belong. The mandate from the 2008 election did not include the Democrats turning our nation into a Socialist Democracy.

We will not stand for it. We will vote you out starting in 2010, but in the event you go to far,, starting with the New Hampshire Resolution we will take the power of the federal government away from the federal government.

The stimulus bill was a travesty beyond description. I see you democrats saying in public that the people are in favor of these policies, but I can tell you that everyone I know is arming themselves, installing sophisticated alarms, trip wires, buying gold, investing outside the United States, and taking every measure possible to protect ourselves from a government gone crazy. We could very well wind up in anarchy, particularly while you in Congress site idly by, spending money we do not have, while ignoring everything else going on in the world. Even the border with Mexico is going unnoticed, while three drug cartels take control of the Mexican government, including the military hardware we provided them. You democrats are very dangerous right now. I hope to God we can survive until 2010 when we take back the House. I realize it may take a little longer to throw you out of the Senate, but we will in large numbers. Now we realize that democrats stand for Socialism.

This is “threatening the government” according to Senator Whitehouse.

Mr. Shirk, a blogger, wrote several letters to the government, and was paid a visit by the FBI. Because they were told to do so. The good news is that the agent was all “right on bro, keep on keepin on.” The bad news is that Senator Whitehouse (D - Rhode Island) has not yet been tarred and feathered [metaphorically of course], and drummed out of office for his tyrannical behavior.

Beginning in earnest in September of 2008 I began a campaign of letter writing to elected United States Representatives, Senators, and the White House under both President Bush and now President Obama. The tone of my correspondence has been that of a citizen who is fed up with the government for spending money we do not have, at a time when we are experiencing economic deflation, and taking control of private business, where I believe it is in violation of the constitutional rights of business owners, shareholders, and frankly every citizen of this country.

Yesterday, as a result of one of my letters, I was paid a visit by the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI. One Senator, Sheldon Whitehouse [ D- RI ] , reported to the FBI that he felt I was endangering the government and should be investigated as a suspected terrorist. This after every single one my letters was sent through the official website of the government, and contained all of my personally identifying information and was specifically stated as advising each U. S. Senator that I was offering political opinion about pending legislation, or governmental policy.

Apparently, as this left leaning Congress assaults our rights on a daily basis, they are now resorting to reporting dissenters to their policies to the FBI, under the guise of terrorist threats.

This is an outrage. An act of jack booted thuggery unseen in this nation in more than 200 years. How dare he? How DARE he? I call for Senator Whitehouse’s (DEMOCRAT - Rhode Island) immediate suspension and ouster, with no pay, no benefits, and no retirement plans. And then we’ll see about criminal charges ... because if “being a fascist scumbag” isn’t illegal, it damn well ought to be.

Taliban gunmen have been filmed executing a surprised couple whom they repeatedly shot for the alleged crime of adultery.

Their deaths were squalid, riddled with bullets in a field near their home by Taliban gunmen as the execution was captured on a mobile telephone.

In footage which is being watched with horror by Pakistanis, the couple try to flee when they realise what is about to happen. But a gunman casually shoots the man and then the woman in the back with a burst of gunfire, leaving them bleeding in the dirt.

Moments later, when others in the execution party shout out that they are still alive, he returns to coldly finish them with a few more rounds.

Their “crime” was an alleged affair in their remote mountain village controlled by militants in an area that was only recently under the government’s sway. It was the kind of barbarity that has become increasingly familiar across Pakistan as the Taliban tide has spread.

But this time, with black-turbaned gunmen almost at the gates of Islamabad, the rare footage has shown urban Pakistanis what could now await them.

Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, has warned that Islamic extremists could take over the nation.

In the past few days the footage has circulated among Pakistanis who usually show little interest in the rough ways of the distant frontier regions.

They have now started to wake up to the fear that al-Qaeda-linked rebels from the frontier could take over their nation.

The killings happened in Hangu district, in North West Frontier Province, about two hours drive from the regional capital Peshawar. The punishment was administered by a local group of the Pakistani Taliban, the Islamic militia which has swept across the NWFP towards the capital Islamabad.

Last week, the Taliban had reached within 60 miles of Islamabad, in Buner district. Their takeover sparked panic in the West, which was already appalled by a peace deal that the government had signed this month with Taliban in adjacent the Swat valley.

In an extraordinary move, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, called on the people of Pakistan to defy their government, saying they “need to speak out forcefully against a policy that is ceding more and more territory to the insurgents”.

The Taliban had agreed a withdrawal, in the last couple of days, to their stronghold of Swat. That will scarcely make the government and elite in the capital Islamabad feel much safer, as Swat is only 100 miles from them.

“The Taliban are steady and confident, the government is weak and faltering,” said Pervez Hoodbhoy, a professor at Islamabad’s Quaid-e-Azam University and one of Pakistan’s leading intellectuals.

“A Taliban victory will enslave our women, destroy Pakistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, make education and science impossible, and make the lives of its citizens impossibly difficult. Some are already contemplating an exodus.”

Pakistan today stands on a knife-edge, threatened with anarchy. The desperate deal signed with the Taliban in Swat looks set to fall apart. The result will almost certainly be violence. An army convoy heading into Swat on Saturday morning was stopped by the Taliban and forced to turn back, in a naked display of their power.

They seem to have been only emboldened by the peace agreement. Many believe that a bloody military operation now looks inevitable,

For those in areas falling under Taliban control, their harsh rule is terrifying.

An SOS text message sent out on Friday by a terrified local resident, in an area of Swat called Bahrain, says that the Taliban have established total control. Asking not be named for fear of reprisal, he said that they have set up check posts at the entrance to Bahrain, from where they kidnap those they want, including young women.

“They’ve even warned the local schools to close the girl classes or face dire consequences. Yet the government says its writ is in Swat.”

Another Swat resident said: “Every day I see armed Taliban move around freely. At the time of prayer, if they see anyone in his shop or walking about, they whip him with a stick.”

The Pakistani Taliban, a copy of the Afghan extremist movement, have long controlled the tribal area along the Afghan border, which is a sanctuary for militants, including al-Qaeda. But it is their march into the heart of the country that has horrified ordinary Pakistanis, and the wider world. And the threat comes not just from the Taliban to the west. Islamic extremists, who are not part of the Taliban, are already entrenched in Islamabad and across the Punjab, the most populous province, seemingly ready to surface when their moment comes.

Islamabad’s defences are being hurriedly fortified, with paramilitary troops stationed on the Margalla Hills, which overlook the city from the West. In the capital, there are thousands of followers of the radical Red Mosque, where there are now open calls for Islamic revolution at the weekly Friday prayers.

“The Taliban will not stop at Swat. They will come towards Islamabad,” said Hasan Askari Rizvi, a military analyst based in Lahore. “If the army is to take action against them, it is going to be a really bloody battle. And then civil government will be knocked out.”

“Extremist groups based in Islamabad will move from within and they (Taliban) will build pressure from outside.”

The footage Pakistanis have been watching shows them what they could expect.

A local journalist was invited to witness the execution, who filmed it with his mobile phone for a Pakistani channel, Dawn News. The Sunday Telegraph is showing the footage in the West for the first time.

There were no names for the two victims.

“Using the media is part of their (the Taliban’s) psychological warfare,” said Imtiaz Gul, chairman of Centre for Research and Security Studies, an independent think tank in Islamabad. “This way, they inject fear into the minds of people who might oppose them, keeping the majority silent.”

After the couple were shot, the family were told to take their bodies away for burial. The punishment was administered by a local group of the Pakistani Taliban linked to warlord Baitullah Mehsud.

The local newspaper reports “three” incidences of street violence that occurred this past Saturday.

The first case involved between 10 and 20 muslim (Asian) men using baseball or cricket bats to assault four white/British men.  It is crystal clear that the first incident was an intentional and malicious assault by a large gang of muslim Street Jihadists on a much smaller group of British men = typical MO of Street Jihad. Note too how the first part of the article makes it sound like both groups were armed - yet further on it appears to say that just the muslims were armed. One wonders if this constituted Kuffarophobia?? No arrests made.

The second so-called assault has an Asian man/ muslim being given ‘a slap’ by a couple of British men. No armed gangs of British men beating up a lone man. No indication that this was in retaliation to the gang assault. Yet unsurprisingly - an arrest was made.

The third so-called “act of violence” was vandalism on a mini cab (likely owned by a muslim therefore the perps must be non-muslim British - right???) Perhaps the Blackburn police didn’t get the memo stating that car vandalism is no longer considered a crime - nevermind a “violent crime”. Perpetrators of such car crimes will likely never be prosecuted.

The article is unspecific as to what neigborhoods were receiving personal “reassurance from the police” - shall I venture a guess?

Weapon Gangs Come To Blow in Blackburn

POLICE have acted to calm fears in the Little Harwood area of Blackburn after groups of white and Asian men carrying weapons came to blows early on Saturday morning.

Police are investigating three incidents which occured at about midnight between the junction of Tintern Crescent and Laburnum Road off Whalley Old Road.

The first incident involved an assault on four white men by a group of Asian males who were seen to be carrying either cricket bats or baseball bats.

Witnesses put the number of Asian males at between 10 and 20.

Police are also investigating an assault on an Asian male by two white men, and criminal damage to a Mini parked in Whalley Old Road.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault on the Asian man, but police would not release any further details at this stage of the enquiry.

During the weekend Neighbourhood Policing Teams have been to the area conducting house-to-house community reassurance measures.

Officers are also looking at CCTV footage from the area.

Taliban executes 14-year-old girl for planning to elope.  Oh those Tali-Killers .. always on the job

And these are the slugs that the authorities in Pakistan have allowed, by agreement, to keep sharia law in their province.
True, this story doesn’t come from Pakistan.  I’m simply pointing out they are the same merciless, stone age ignorant bastards.

A 14-year-old girl and her boyfriend have been executed by a Taliban firing squad after being caught eloping.

The pair were shot dead in front of their village mosque as their villagers looked on in south western Afghanistan, a district official said.
Hashim Noorzai, head of Khash Rud district of Nimroz province, said the girl, called Gulsima, had been unhappily engaged to marry when she fell in love with Aziz, aged 17.

The pair attempted to escape the village of Lokhi and planned to head to Iran and marry, but were captured by villagers and dragged back.
After two days of deliberation, a council of elders had been unable to decide how to resolve the dispute, Mr Noorzai said.
Half the elders favoured some way of allowing them to marry, while the other half favoured execution.

As the council was deadlocked, local Taliban militants stepped in, overruled village religious leaders and declared the lovers must be executed, he said.
Ghulam Dastageer Azad, governor of the province, said the execution was an “insult to Islam”.
Nimroz, a sparsely-populated, desert province on the borders of Iran and Pakistan has little or no Afghan government or foreign presence.

Taliban militants rule large swathes of the province with impunity and dispense justice based on their own interpretations of Sharia law and tribal code.
Abdul Jabar, police chief of the province, admitted he had no police stations in the district and said and many of the fighters who summarily judged cases were themselves often no more than 18 or 19.

Across the border in Pakistan, a deal to allow Sharia law in the Swat valley has seen Taliban militants hold public executions.

Mobile phone footage appearing to show a 17-year-old woman being publicly flogged for adultery in the valley sparked international outrage earlier this month.
Under Pashtunwali, the tribal morality code in southern Afghanistan, relations between unmarried or unrelated members of opposite sexes are strictly regulated.
Extrajudicial “honour killings” are also practised by families who believe a relative has brought them shame, including by refusing to marry a chosen partner.

The Taliban swept to power in the mid 1990s by offering strict justice and Islamic order after years of chaotic rule by predatory and rapacious warlords.
Their travelling justice commissions continue to settle disputes in much of the lawless south where the government has no power and traditional tribal power has been eroded by decades of war.

Did you hear the one about the queer, the Muzzie and the pre-op tranny?

No? Well, you’re unlikely to anytime soon. The British government, fresh from recent proscriptions on religious and racial “hatred”, is pushing ahead with legislation that will criminalize homophobic jokes.

I’ve been trying to recall the last time I heard a homophobic joke in a public forum. You have to go back a ways. At Vegas, Dean Martin used to have a bit of business where he’d refill his tumbler and ask Frank, “How do you make a fruit cordial?” And Sinatra would go, “I dunno. How do you make a fruit cordial?” And Dino would say, “Be nice to him.”

But these days, no matter how cordial you are, it’s never enough. On the BBC comedy show “Little Britain”, a weekly glimpse of the hellhole of Hogarthian depravity that is the United Kingdom, there is a recurring character whose catchphrase is that he’s “the only gay in the village” - a Welsh village, I believe, so his claim would seem to be statistically improbable, if you’ll forgive a bit of Welshophobia - or is it Cymruphobia? Or Cymruhomophobia? Anyway, he doesn’t actually have any gay sex and he gets inordinately jealous if some real live practicing gay comes passing through and threatens his unique status. But one could argue that his determination to be “the only gay in the village” testifies to the social cachet homosexuality now enjoys. On the other hand, one could argue something else entirely. On the other other hand, once you’ve attracted the attention of Constable Plod and his crack humorological investigative unit, you’re probably best to cop a plea and settle for misdemeanor hatemongering and three points on your license.

Down the leftie end of Fleet Street, various columnists, justifying their support for the legislation, or at least its goals, have tutted their disapproval of gay stereotyping in comedy. Limp wrists. Camp walks. Judy Garland references. I write as the token heterosexual Judy Garland fan (please, no tittering) on the Maclean’s payroll, and as a chap who’s sung with Liza Minnelli on TV (oh, okay, titter mercilessly, but no guffawing), yet I confess to some misgivings about the state demanding upon pain of a seven-year jail sentence that the citizenry pretend there’s nothing the red-blooded knuckle-dragging English soccer yobbo likes better than listening to Judy singing “The Man That Got Away” before he nuts you in the head, knees you in the bollocks and tosses you through a chip-shop window.

To its credit, the House of Lords inserted a so-called “free speech” amendment to the bill, but the Justice Secretary, Jack Straw, has decided to repeal that, announcing that there are “no circumstances” in which the right to free speech can “justify homophobic behavior”.

And why stop there? Representatives of the transgendered and the disabled were also invited by the government to grab a piece of the joke-police action. Interestingly enough, last week Barack Obama became the first US president to do a retard gag on national TV. Referring to his bowling score (129) during an appearance on “The Tonight Show”, the Kibbitzer-in-Chief cracked that “it was like the Special Olympics.” Ha-ha! What a wag that Obama is when he unplugs the teleprompter and kicks loose a little. How do you make a fruit cordial? Appoint him your GLBT Outreach Coordinator.

If my past experience of Mr Obama’s notoriously touchy courtiers is anything to go by, it’s undoubtedly racist to suggest that the President is disablist. Likewise, Gloria Steinem and other feminists argued that Bill Clinton’s support for abortion entitled him to go around dropping his pants to any female subordinates who tickled his fancy (I paraphrase, but not much). But, that said, I do wonder how things might have gone had Obama essayed the same jest on a BBC talk show. Robin Page, the chairman of Britain’s Countryside Restoration Trust and a columnist with The Daily Telegraph, spoke at a rally opposing the government’s anti-hunting laws at a Gloucestershire country fair in 2002.

“If you are a black vegetarian Muslim asylum-seeking one-legged lesbian lorry driver,” he began, “I want the same rights as you.” A jocular reference to various approved identity groups by a member of an unfashionable one (country folk). Mr Page was subsequently arrested and, upon declining to answer questions without the presence of counsel, thrown in a cell. Don’t worry. He eventually cleared his name - after five years.

Her Majesty’s Constabulary: The joke police - in every sense.

That’s the problem. Even if you think it’s a good idea for the state to regulate speech, the only troops available to do it are blundering coppers and hack bureaucrats. Last year, as readers may recall, I had the curious experience of having the “tone” of my jokes examined in a Vancouver courthouse by the geniuses of the British Columbia “Human Rights” Tribunal. Hitherto, such forensic dissection has been limited to the more obscure literary critics. But not anymore. Following their week-long deconstruction of Steyn’s “tone”, the BCHRT announced that for its next show trial it would be turning to the “tone” of Guy Earle, a stand-up comic whose late-night putdowns of some lesbian hecklers were allegedly homophobic.

Maybe it would be easier just to ban all jokes, except for official government-licensed rib-ticklers.

This is the chilling moment a 17-year-old Pakistani girl is punished in a horrific flogging by Taliban militants for being seen with a man who is not her husband.

The girl, who received 37 lashes at the hands of her brother and Taliban forces, has sent shockwaves throughout the once stable Swat Valley region.

The mobile phone footage shows the girl pinned down by two men while a third whips her as she begs for mercy.

‘Please stop it,’ the girl begs as the men, one of whom is believed to be her brother, continue their sickening act.

But some claim the commander ordered the flogging to get revenge after the girl refused to accept a marriage proposal.

Pashtun documentary maker Samar Minallah, who lived in Swat for two years in the late 1990s, handed the footage to the media.

The footage has sparked alarm across Pakistan and the west, which fears the Taliban is seeking to extend its influence across the region.

The girl in the video, named as Chaand, was punished in Matta in the Swat Valley.

She did not receive a trial and was punished according to the suspicious of one neighbour.

Ms Minallah said the incident had taken place within the last 10 days, following the signing of a peace deal between the provincial government and militants which saw them gain control of the valley’s judicial system.

She said the video is being circulated because the Taliban wanted people to see it.

‘They want to give the message that this is taking place after the peace deal because this is something they ideologically believe in,’ she said.

Journalists and human rights workers have confirmed the video was recent, but could not say exactly when it was taken.

Human rights officials also claim that the Taliban have committed many atrocities since the peace deal was signed with officials settling disputes ‘according to their whims.’

Mingora, the largest city in Swat district, has been under a mixture of traditional and Islamic law since the peace deal was signed on February 15.

Although the Taliban do not control the courts, they continue to carry out punishments in some regional areas.

The punishment is not the first to be dished out since the peace deal was signed with some sources claiming women have been whipped for harmless activities such as shopping.

A teacher is facing disciplinary action after outraged parents spotted photographs of her posing in her underwear on the Internet.

Aspiring model Natasha Gray, 30, was reprimanded after a stunned parent wrote an anonymous letter complaining about the ‘provocative pictures’.

Miss Gray, who is the Head of PE and Dance at Manor Community College in Cambridge, is pictured wearing pink lingerie and stilettos on website iModel.com.

A caption on her ‘Tasha’ homepage, which promotes her modelling work, states she is ‘willing to travel with expenses paid’.

The angry letter from an unnamed parent said the ‘inappropriate’ pictures were ‘common knowledge’ among students as young as 11 at the school.

‘From doing a bit of digging, it is apparently common knowledge about these photos, and has been for some time.

‘Any teacher is in a position of trust and surely this is inappropriate for not only the school, but also pupils.

‘I am disgusted that, even if these were taken before she became a teacher, Miss Gray has not even attempted to remove them.

‘I assume the pupils have a good giggle about it but I find it rather crass.’

Mother-of-two Claire Schofield, who is a governor at the secondary school and has one child there with another due to start in September, said she was surprised a teacher could be so careless.

‘I would hope that any teacher would be able to be some sort of responsible role model to children at the school,’ she said.

‘I don’t think she really thought this through.’

Headteacher Ben Slade insisted the photos had nothing to do with the school but said Miss Gray would be severely reprimanded.

‘This will certainly be dealt with most severely and will certainly be a disciplinary matter.

‘Teachers are entitled to their union representation and Miss Gray has been spoken to.

‘She will be asked to take the pictures down. This is not a matter for suspension, as much as I would like it to be in this case.

‘If the pictures were more pornographic or if they involved someone of a dubious age it would be more serious.’

Following her win as Britain’s sexiest teacher Miss Gray entered a competition against winners from six other professions to be named ‘Britain’s Sexiest’.

She was narrowly pipped to the top prize by a fitness instructor.

Speaking after the competition she said: ‘It was absolutely fantastic. I had such a brilliant day. The audience was great and helped me get into it.’

Miss Gray was unavailable for comment yesterday.

Council ‘calls pensioners racists’ for objecting to cost of tidying up after travellers.

Well apparently all one has to do is suggest, question or be critical in any way of this newest racial group, and it’s automatic one is a bad person or anyway, a racist.  As labeled by the very left oh so freekin politically correct councils who live and breathe when actually they more deserve to be shot.  Or hung, which ever is cheaper. 

There’s a damn good reason so many people are against this group and if that means the big ‘R’ then screw it.  That’s fine.
Really tired of hearing how bad it is to be racist.  IT ISN’T!  There are often damn good reasons for it.

Especially in this case.

Oh and btw .... re. that tyrannical loon (John Prescott) who is mentioned late in this article. Just so ppl outside UK who are reading this know.
He was Deputy PM under Blair, who brought him ,Prescott, into govt to appease the far left wing of his party.
Prescott wanted to do all he could to “stick it to the well off and the comfortable.”

So called Travelers and others of their kind are a blight on the landscape!

An elderly couple who suggested that Gipsies and travellers should contribute towards the cost of cleaning up any mess they make have been branded ‘racist’.

Pensioners Rita and Norman Brookhouse were told that their views - expressed in response to a public consultation - breached race laws and would be ignored.

However, rather than objecting to proposed new Gipsy and traveller camps, all the couple did was to point out that the planned sites might be messy.

They went on to suggest that any families living on the new sites should be asked to make a financial contribution towards their cleaning costs.

Angry: Pensioners Rita and Norman Brookhouse say they were effectively branded racists by their regional assembly.

The couple, from Havant in Hampshire, were shocked to receive an official reply which told them their views were based on ‘negative assumptions’.

The letter cited the Race Relations Act and concluded that their opinion ‘could be construed as offensive’ and would therefore be ignored.

The Brookhouses’ experience is just the latest example of how local authorities - under pressure from central Government to establish more permanent Gipsy and traveller sites - are using every possible legal tactic to do get their way.

Earlier this year Bedfordshire Police was branded ‘racist’ when it too was told that its official objection to a planned Gipsy camp ‘breached the Race Relations Act’.

The Brookhouses wrote their letter in response to a public consultation carried out late last year by the South East England Regional Assembly .

The unelected organisation - which coordinates the work of 76 local councils - wanted to gauge public opinion on plans to build 1,076 new Gipsy and traveller pitches across its area.

The authority placed advertisements in local libraries asking for views on the camps such as how they should distributed around South-East England.

In their response Norman Brookhouse, 73, and his wife Rita, 76, wrote: ‘Travellers use their current areas because they can find work and facilities available there.  Keeping most in the same area should be less expensive than starting mainly new areas.

‘Reasonable charges must be made for use of sites so that local people know the travellers are contributing to the community finances.

‘At present travellers give nothing to the community where they stay, indeed they create expense (rubbish clearance, etc. after they have departed).’

Catriona Riddell, Seera’s director of planning, wrote back to the couple.

She told them their letter ‘contains statements that are based on negative assumptions about the gypsy, travellers and travelling showpeople communities and / or could reasonably be construed as offensive to such groups’.

The letter went on: ‘While we appreciate that you may not have intended for your comments to be perceived as such, we and our legal advisers consider such comments to be of a discriminatory nature.’

Mrs Brookhouse, a retired scientist, today insisted that she is not racist.  She said she supports the idea of Gipsy and traveller sites that are properly managed.

She said: ‘We are not racist. We have friends from all different walks of life.  It doesn’t matter to me as long as people respect the area they live in and pull their weight.’

She added: ‘This country is supposed to be a democracy - we are all supposed to have a say in what happens.  To be told that they don’t like what you’re saying and therefore going to discount it is utterly ridiculous.

‘This assembly does not represent the country.  I’m a taxpayer in a town where the council has to spend thousands of pounds a year clearing up after travellers and we don’t get anything back.’

The Brookhouses’ Conservative MP David Willetts described Seera’s actions as ‘political correctness gone mad’.

He said: ‘It was a consultation on sites for travellers and the Brookhouses have drawn attention to widespread concern about the expense that’s created by having to clear up their rubbish after they depart.

‘This is basically a statement of fact.  There were no abusive or offensive remarks about gypsies or travellers as an ethnic group.  It is completely absurd to suggest it is and undermines the consultation.’

A spokesman for Seera revealed that it had rejected 147 of the 1,129 consultation responses it received for being racist.

Moira Gibson, chair of Seera’s Regional Planning Committee, said: ‘Under the Race Relations Act it is against the law for local councils or the Assembly to discriminate against anyone on the grounds of their race, colour, or ethnic or national group.

‘Romany Gypsies and Irish Travellers are legally recognised ethnic groups.  As such we have had to discount and return any responses that we and independent legal advisors reasonably considered to be of a discriminatory nature.

‘A vast majority of the responses we received were not discriminatory and have been taken into account.’

In 2006, John Prescott, then deputy Prime Minister, told local authorities that council provision for gipsies and travellers should be ‘significantly increased’.  Since then the number of new sites has doubled.

A Muslim preacher of hate today ridiculed British soldiers who were abused during a homecoming parade - branding them cowards who have an ‘uncanny knack for death by friendly fire’.

Firebrand preacher Anjem Choudary praised the Muslims who had protested at yesterday’s parade for the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment in Luton.

And in an inflammatory message posted on an Islamic extremist website, Choudary viciously mocked their comrade who was killed by friendly fire in Iraq.

His words came as police charged a man who allegedly shouted abuse at the Muslim anti-war protesters.

Choudary, who has links with banned Muslim cleric Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed, likened the soldiers to Nazis and branded yesterday’s homecoming a ‘vile parade’ of ‘brutal murderers’.

Choudary said: ‘On 10th March 2009 200 pathetic and cowardly British soldiers from the second battalion, of the Royal Anglian Regiment, pompously marched through Luton to demonstrate their skill at murdering and torturing thousands of innocent Muslim men, women and children (in Iraq) over a 24-month period.’

Choudary leads the controversial Islam For The UK organisation which wants Britain to be an Islamic state, ruled by Sharia law.

His group was formed after Bakri’s fundamentalist organisation Al-Muhajiroun was banned by the Government.

He said: ‘Non-Muslims in Britain must appreciate that the actions of the British soldiers must be condemned unreservedly; they are not heroes but closer to cowards who cannot fight, as their uncanny knack for death by ‘friendly fire’ illustrates.’

His cruel comments were clearly designed to mock the memory of Private Darren George, 23, from Pirbright, Surrey, who was accidentally shot by a colleague in Kabul on April 9, 2002.

Lesbian Gay Homosexual Bisexual Transgender History Month

Amazing. Pollution gets a month all its own.

Now then, I am not certain about the Transgender thing to be very honest.
It is my understanding only based on news articles and a very few interviews during news programs, that these people are not necessarily homosexual, but instead may be born with parts of em from both sexes.  ???  Do I have that right?  I have also read about it in links and am under the impression that a person somehow knows early on that the “body they have isn’t really theirs.” I’ve seen that quote more then once.

I’m not a doctor and have no training whatever in things of that nature and so think transgender ppl may (I stress that word, “may") be very legitimate, as opposed to a lifestyle I find really odd at best and disgusting at worst.

My views on the subject are known and the point of this story really belong in a heading like Parents Rights.  Apparently they have none when up against the homosexual lobby which appears very willing to force their point of view on children’s education.  Maybe the correct term is INDOCTRINATION.

Parents face court action for removing children from gay homosexual history lessons

More than 30 pupils were pulled out of a week of teaching at a primary school which included books about homosexual partnerships.
The controversial content was worked into the curriculum at George Tomlinson School in Waltham Forest, East London.

The council has declared that children who missed the lessons will be viewed as truants.
The ruling means some families could breach rules that children should not be absent for more than 19 days a year.
Sanctions include spot fines, parenting contracts and ultimately court action.

The parents, who objected to the lessons on moral and religious grounds, said the content was more appropriate to secondary age pupils.
Pervez Latif, whose children Saleh, ten, and Abdur-Rahim, nine, attend the school, said he knew of up to 30 withdrawals from the lessons.
The 41-year-old accountant said Christian and Muslim parents had objected to the theme linked to Lesbian ,queer, Bisexual ,Transgender History Month.

‘We as parents did not receive any guidance that this was going to happen,’ he added. ‘There was just a newsletter mentioning the week and that certain themes would be taught.
‘I didn’t want my children to be learning about this. I wrote a letter to the chairman of the governors explaining that I would be taking my children out of school and he wrote back saying that there was no other option.
‘If I am faced with court action, then I will just explain that these are my views. It was also very difficult explaining to my nine- and ten-year-old boys why they were being removed from school.
‘I found it difficult to explain topics such as homosexual relationships at such a young age.’

One story covered in a lesson was King and King, a fairytale about a prince who turns down three princesses before falling in love with one of their brothers.
Another book, And Tango Makes Three, features two male penguins, Roy and Silo, who fall in love at a New York zoo.
Sarah Saeed, 40, took her eight-year-old daughter out of school during the week.

She said: ‘It is not an appropriate age for the children to be learning such matters. We have our own way of explaining things to them and they should not be subjected to this.
‘I was aware they were going to be learning about homosexual relationships through stories.
‘If the council takes action against me I will tell them that I told the school beforehand I would be taking my child away if they did not change their policy.

‘She has a 100 per cent attendance record otherwise. This is the only time and this is the only choice I had.’
Parents have a legal right to withdraw their children from religious education and sex education lessons – apart from science lessons which cover biological reproduction as part of the national curriculum.

A spokesman for Waltham Forest Council said: ‘As part of the borough’s policy of promoting tolerance in our schools, children are taught that everyone in our society is of equal value.
‘At George Tomlinson, parents were invited to meet with teachers and governors several weeks ago to discuss what work would
be taking place throughout the national LGBT History Month and how this work would be delivered.
‘Regrettably, some parents chose to remove their children from school.

‘The council does not condone any unauthorised absence from school and action has been taken.’
Norman Wells, director of the Family Education Trust, said: ‘It is a fundamental principle of education law that children must be educated in accordance with the wishes of their parents.
‘It is outrageous for a school or local authority to think it can ride roughshod over parents and impose lessons upon children that arouse such widespread concerns.

‘The only action that needs to be taken is to offer an apology to the parents concerned.’
George Tomlinson is close to a school which launched a gayvery queer version of Romeo and Juliet called Romeo and Julian – also to mark the alternative history month.

Dubya vs. B.O.

Now, I’ve problems with George W. Bush, mostly in domestic spending. But I will say this: I’d have been proud to have him as my Commander-in-Chief. He did very well in that regard. Next, we turn to the current Coward-in-Chief, B. Hussein Obama, who never did ANY military service at all. I understand that the military is increasingly demanding that he prove he’s even eligible to be President...as in being a native born citizen.

However that proves out, I spent six years on active duty defending my country against people like B.O. In my book, Obama is a domestic enemy of the Constitution.

NANNY STATE ‘SHOULD INTERVENE EVEN MORE’

BRITAIN’S “nanny state” does not go far enough and the govt. should pass more safety legislation, according to a public health expert.  Dr. Alan Maryon Davis said that people needed new health and safety laws to “save us from ourselves.”

Okay, that isn’t the entire article but it is the part I’m most concerned with.
The rest simply buttresses what I’ve already copied.
You’ll have to take my word that I haven’t made it up.

Now then … the reason I’m interested in this aside from the obvious, is that I have just become a witness to the nanny state in operation.  In fact, right here. Yeah ..
see this house? 
It’s just been built next door to us.  Folks moved in there around the first week in July of ’08.

In order to build this place, they first had to knock down the pretty bungalow that stood there from 1926.  There were three cottages called Dormer Bungalows on this street of approx. 9 houses.  Soon there will be just ours as the one on the other side of us is scheduled for demolition also.

So, they built this house which really does nothing for the area, and filled what was the front lawn in with gravel.  The garage is used for storage and the cars (there are two) park on the gravel.  I’m told it’s an effective burglar alarm as it can be heard quite plainly when anyone walks on it outside the house.  I can believe that as we hear it plainly as well inside ours.  Including the bedrooms.
Unfortunately the houses are pretty close and we also hear their screaming grandkids when they visit at night.

So, the house was completed and they moved in.  BUT ....

A couple of weeks ago, a city inspector or perhaps it was a council member, I’m not clear on that as of this posting, happened to notice a building violation. 

Apparently there was a law passed in 2002 stating that all buildings including private dwellings, MUST be wheelchair accessible.  Well, as you can see in the first photo this isn’t the case at all.  This house somehow got built without a wheel chair ramp.  But as the owner told me yesterday, in all his 61 years no matter where he’d lived the world over, he had never been visited by anyone in a wheelchair.  The builder may have known, we don’t know cause he isn’t around now.  But the outside had to be torn up and a ramp built and tarmac had to be laid down to make a partial driveway
leading to the ramp. 

You can’t wheel a chair through all that gravel and what is needed is a paved drive and a side walk up to the door.  And that’s another issue.  There was a small step up from the slate slabs on the front entrance.  No – no says the inspector.  Can not have that step.  The entire entrance had to be rebuilt and raised and extended and that’s all being done as I write this.  And that’s not all.

A city inspector has spent a total of two and a half hours INSIDE the house, seeing if things there are wheelchair ready as well.  Some modifications were required inside.  A private dwelling …

And so it goes here in the land of Health and Safety and Diversity and Multi Culture where all will be made well for all people and where all people will be made free from insults and hurt feelings and every thought will be given to just about any eventuality where someone might find themselves being offended by who knows what on any given day.

No promise of safe streets and neighborhoods of course.  That doesn’t fall under Health and Safety.
But wheelchair accessibility for private homes?  You bet your bippy by golly.
Why, these folks are on the ball. They’re on a roll.  They’re right on top of things.

A car in every garage, a chicken in every pot and a wheelchair ramp installed in every new home.  It’s the law.

DIFFICULT POSTING AFTER THAT GREAT NOSE ART DREW POSTED. HATE TO BE DOWNER BUT…

A WARNING TO ENGLAND TO BE TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY

I had no intention of posting anything this early today as I truly am busier then a duck in a flood and I’m not trying to be funny.
But there are times when something crops up that I consider so damn important I just have to drop whatever I’m doing and boot the puter and post.

I know there are Brits who visit this site almost everyday.  We don’t hear in comments as many of you as I see out there.
That’s okay I suppose, at least you’re reading us.

I think I can be fairly certain that at least one of you lurking Brits may not hold the same right wing conservative views we Yanks and some posting Brits do.  And that’s perfectly okay as well. What I have to share with you few unsuspecting Brits will be of unwelcome concern to both the left and right wing of of the political spectrum.

I am NOT joking and I am NOT mad although I can understand why some may think otherwise with regard to the last given some of my rants on things like capitol punishment and the lack of justice in the criminal justice system.

ENGLAND, YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE INVADED BY A GROUP AS DANGEROUS AND UNWANTED AS MUSLIM EXTREMISTS.

They really are EXPERT at using the system AGAINST you, and they WILL! Because they can.

If you don’t deport these people or better yet, KILL EVERY ONE OF THEM YOU CAN FIND, you are in for a world of trouble. Like all bullies, they can be made to back down somewhat.  Which does not lessen their danger. I just can not stress the danger enough.

It isn’t the Russian or islam or the Nazis you’re about to be invaded by.
It’s a group of AMERICANS, sad to say.  And believe me, there is NO reasoning with this group. But you’ll find out in due course the truth of what I say here.

One other thing you Brits need to know about this family.  THEY ARE ALMOST ALL LAWYERS!  Oh yes. They know the law and how to twist it and will do so.  And if they do ever get any kind of foothold in your country, you can be certain they know your laws as well.  In fact, better then you do.
Because that’s what they’re all about.  That’s what these scum bags do.

Westboro Baptist Church announces first anti-homosexuality picket in Britain
The fundamentalist US church notorious for picketing the funerals of dead soldiers plans to carry out its first protest in Britain this week, it has emerged.

Followers of the virulently anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church have threatened to picket a sixth form college in Basingstoke, Hampshire during a staging of The Laramie Project, a play about an American youth murdered because of his sexuality.

The church from Topeka, Kansas is mainly composed of relatives of the founder, pastor Fred Phelps, who style themselves “the most hated family in America”.

Their core belief – that God will punish the West for its acceptance of homosexuality – has seen them protest at dozens of servicemen’s funerals brandishing garish placards stating “God hates the USA” and “Thank God for dead soldiers”.

Details of the church’s first picket in Britain was posted on their website with the slogan “God Hates England; Your Queen Is A W----”.

“Some of the best Bible preaching in the history of the world came out of that dark dismal land, but now it is full of all abominations,” the notice read.

“God will shortly destroy the UK and the world, but not until they have got the plain, clear message so that they will be without excuse.”

The target of Friday evening’s demonstration will be the Central Studio arts venue at Queen Mary’s College, where local gay group Freedom Youth is staging a small production of the The Laramie Project this week.

The play, which has roused the ire of Westboro followers in the past, tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a gay teenager tortured and murdered in small town America in 1998.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, a church spokeswoman, confirmed the plan but declined to say whether members would be flying over from the US or if the picket would be carried out by followers in Britain. The church has no scheduled pickets on the days immediately before or after the Basingstoke demonstration.

“It is the first actual picket. We have been preaching by so many means to the UK for years. The arm of the Lord our God is not shortened by oceans and things, all of which he created, and all of which he knew about when he considered these last hours of the very last days of all,” Mrs Phelps-Roper said.

In a lengthy justification of the protest, she cited the recent case of 13-year-old Alfie Patten, who claims to have fathered a child with his 15-year-old girlfriend, as evidence of UK’s moral decline.

“And then you can add to this pleasant little happy UK family moment that another 13-year-old boy has arisen to dispute paternity! Oh yea baby – you UK rebels truly have it groin [sic] on. You are like the doomed American rebels – just a big shameful mess,” she said.

Central Studio confirmed that it was aware of the planned protest and said it was making preparations with the school. A Freedom Youth leader said he believed the chance of the church carrying through on its picket threat was very low, given the distance its followers would have to travel.

Maria Miller, Conservative MP for Basingstoke, said that she had contacted the Home Secretary to see what action the Government may be considering in relation to possible attempts by the Phelps family to enter the country.

She condemned the church’s “highly inflammatory language and behaviour” and said the young people who had worked on the play would not be intimidated by threats.

“The most important thing is that a production that is trying to promote tolerance goes ahead and that’s what I’m focusing on achieving,” she said.

“There’s no evidence that they will be coming along and I don’t believe they have a base in the UK.”

Ben Summerskill, chief executive of Stonewall, the gay right group, described the church’s plan as “distressing”.

“The Laramie Project is a very serious play about a young man who was beaten to death just because he was gay. To regard that as a cause for celebration will make a lot of people both gay and straight feel very uncomfortable,” he said.

“I suspect that they won’t be welcomed by the people of Basingstoke.”

He added: “They have caused enormous distress by protesting outside the funerals of service personnel in the US and I hope they have no intention of trying anything similar in Britain.”

But he warned that any attempt to ban Westboro church members from travelling to Britain would just give them the oxygen of publicity similar to the attention garnered by the right-wing Dutch MP Geert Wilders last week.

Members of Anonymous, the nebulous online community that has previously organised protests against the Church of Scientology, are alreading planning counter-demonstrations outside the college on Friday, posts on internet message boards indicate.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Police said the force was aware of the planned picket.
