This Time You Make A Guess

Guess the motivation I mean. Happy Monday, another multiple murder/mass shooting. Maybe we do need more gun control. Maybe we need anger management classes in all the schools from First Grade on up. Zen meditation and Christian forgiveness and turning the other cheek stuff. Because we seem to be a mighty angry society, whipping out the guns and pulling the trigger all the time, over emotions, not over self defense.

Which is really friggin stupid.

Police say 5, including gunman, killed in Washington apartment shooting

Authorities say five people, including the gunman, are dead after a shooting at a Washington apartment complex that appears to have been sparked by a dispute.

Officers responding to an emergency call at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the apartments in Federal Way encountered a chaotic scene, with bullets flying.

“When officers arrived there were still shots being fired,” said Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock.

They found two injured men on the ground in a parking lot. One of the men reached for a gun as police moved in to assist the two, she said.

At that point, officers opened fire. The suspect died but police said it wasn’t immediately clear if it was from their gunfire.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. –Five people were killed in a shooting late Sunday night at a Federal Way apartment complex, Federal Way police officers said.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, the shooting took place shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pinewood Apartments near 333rd Street and Pacific Highway South in Federal Way. Somewhere between six and 15 shots were fired, and at least two people were down when police arrived.

When police officers went to help one of the men injured on the ground, he allegedly pulled a gun. Police fired back, killing the man. No officers were injured in the incident.

Police officers confirmed three people were deceased in the apartment’s parking lot — including the suspect — and an additional male was found dead in a nearby apartment. No further suspects were being sought, and no one was arrested or in custody.

A law enforcement source said a fight may have broken out in the parking lot of the apartment complex, leading to the shooting.

It may be that all parties involved in this shooting are now dead. So we many never know what this was about. Drugs. Money. Crime. Affairs of the heart. Flash anger. Make a guess.

Federal Way is an area south of Seattle, way down at the end of Puget Sound, right next to Tacoma WA. I don’t know a thing about the place, other than the Weyerhaeuser plywood company having headquarters there.

Any lurking anti gun ppl might want to pass us by. Or stay and learn something

This fellow is GOOD!

Found by accident because Drew mentioned gunsamerica.com and only mentioned them in passing. It was in a comment Drew left for me and I thought Guns America looked pretty good and so went there. It’s now book marked.
It’s my understanding that this fellow now works for the NRA. Or if not then I misunderstood but no matter.
I can’t pronounce his name but he has lots of stuff on YT.

Now then .... after you see this .....

More on my Gun Show Weekend

I must have ambled past that dealer a dozen times. Each time I stopped to look longingly on his 9mm P-226. No other dealer had one. I’m sure he was getting annoyed. One dealer had a P-229. It has a shorter barrel and the frame is wider than the P-226. And it just didn’t feel right when the dealer let me handle it.

Thirteenth time I walked past the West Chester Guns table, I sat down and asked for the P-226.

Dealer: “A man who knows his firearms!”

Actually I know nothing! But after a decade of reading or listening to the Deathlands series, where the main character, Ryan Cawdor, carries a 9mm P-226 with the suppressor, I felt like I knew this firearm already. Not that I’m ever influenced by a fictional character… grin but Cawdor almost always gets his scrambled brains together after a mat-trans jump by reciting the specs of his weapon.

Then the dealer handed that P-226 to me. And magic happened.

That gun fits my hand perfectly! I didn’t realize this before, but I bought my revolvers to suit my wife. They really are too small for me. The P-226 just fits. Weight and balance are perfect. I can’t quite describe it, but I knew I was not going home without one. Maybe Drew will understand. My wife keeps telling me to quit playing with it. I can’t. It feels too much like a part of me. The P-229 didn’t come close!

So Michael, when are we hitting the firing range? Drew advises I run at least 500 rounds through her, ‘observing proper barrel break-in procedures’, whatever those are. Drew, please elaborate.

A Rude Display

Texas Cop: “We’re Exempt From The Law”

soldier arrested for carrying a rifle in the woods

Army Master Sergeant. C. J. Grisham, a serving American soldier and veteran of the the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who recently was illegally disarmed by the Temple Police Department while out for a walk with his son.

“We live out in the country in Texas, near Temple,” he told me. “My son and I were on a ten-mile hike so that he could earn his hiking merit badge – it’s the last badge he needs to become an Eagle Scout.” But half way into the hike, Grisham said, “a police officer pulled up.” Initially, he was “cordial” and he “asked what we were doing.” Grisham told him. “Then he looked at my rifle. I carry a rifle any time I walk around because there are feral hogs and cougars and things like that.”

From here, things took a turn for the worse.

Follow the link and read the rest, and watch the rather chilling video. I wonder how big a lawsuit it’s going to take to teach the cop that he isn’t Boss Hog?

Update: MORE. Looks like Barney Fife here is just acting as his master told him to (and screw that inconvenient law) ...

The conflict between law enforcement and armed military personnel in the community around Fort Hood, one of America’s largest military bases, has recently and repeatedly involved the issue of gun control — and the tension has been exacerbated in part by an Obama-supporting prosecutor described as a “bandleader” of anti-gun efforts in the heavily conservative community.

The conflict reached a fever pitch last month, when Texas police arrested an active-duty Army sergeant for “rudely displaying” a hunting rifle.

Last month? Dammit, I hate it when news sites put some story up as if it happened today. Are their aggregators so slow that things take 30 days to bubble up to the top? Give me NEWS, not OLDS.

News You Don’t Need To Know

Fox News: Home invasion suspects killed in gunfight with NC homeowner

Two men suspected of attempting to invade a home in North Carolina Friday died after a gunfight with the homeowner.

Fayetteville Police tell WTVD both robbery suspects fled the home after the exchange of gunfire. One of the suspects, 25-year-old Dominik Council, was found dead on the side of the road nearly two hours after the incident.

The other suspect, 20-year-old Xavier White, was found wounded and transported to an area hospital, where he later died, according to the station.

Police said the homeowner, who was not identified, was injured during the gunfight. Details on the individual’s condition were not immediately available.

Police on Saturday identified 24-year-old Lamyer Campbell and 24-year-old Derek Hair as suspects in the attempted home invasion.

The above story links to the local version of the story, below:

[local NC affiliate] MyFox8: Suspects dead after attempted home invasion in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two men who attempted to invade a Fayetteville home early Friday morning died after a gun fight with the homeowner, according to WTVD.

WTVD reports the exchange of gunfire happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at a house in the 7500 block of Levi Road.

Both suspects fled the scene after the exchange, WTVD reports.

The local version of the story links to a TV news report, below:

2 charged in attempted home invasion, 2 others killed

FAYETTEVILLE ([ABC local affiliate] WTVD)—Investigators say two men who attempted to invade a home early Friday ended up dead after a gun battle with the homeowner.

It happened in the 7500 block of Levi Road at approximately 3:37 a.m. After the exchange of gunfire, both robbers left the home.
One of the men, 20-year-old Xavier White, was found wounded on Martha Court. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died.

Police said the body of 25-year-old Dominik Lavon Council was found along the shoulder of the road in the 5400 block of South Sumac Circle around 5:45 a.m.

Police said the homeowner was also hurt in the gunfire. That person was not identified.

Saturday, detectives identified two additional suspects.

They are 24-year-old Lamyer Gorminie Campbell and 24-year-old Derek Rashaun Hair.

Both Campbell and Hair have been charged with first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit first degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

And what do you know? After tracing the links three levels down, we find that the TV station actually carries a picture of the two surviving suspects.

image

Four armed robbers, breaking into a house in the middle of the night. And the government tells you that you have no need at all ever for more than 7 rounds    10 rounds   high capacity magazines.

Gun owner stops home invaders dead
But media coverage quiet on racial, 2nd Amendment overtones

When a group of black men were planning a home-invasion robbery in Fayetteville, N.C., on Friday, they stuck to an M.O. that had succeeded all over the country, but made one fatal error: They chose the wrong home.

The residents of the targeted house were home at the time and armed. After what local authorities report as a “gun battle,” two of alleged robbers died.

Most home invasion robberies follow the same script: Find a residence in a nice neighborhood where people do not live too close together. Statistics show potential victims are likely white or Asian, though professional athletes of all races are common targets, too. In this case, police are not identifying the identity of the home owner.

In an increasingly common crime around the country, especially in rural areas near cities, the perpetrators rush in, maybe beat up the occupants, take what they came for and get out. Maybe kill someone. Maybe not.

But this is the most important part of the plan: The potential victims need to be defenseless.

And that is where Xavier White, Dominik Lavon Council, Lamyer Gorminie Campbell and Derek Rashaun Hair went wrong: They chose the wrong house.

Both of the arrested suspects have prior records.

Off Target

Looks like Christopher properly celebrated Buy A Gun Day. Good luck with your new piece. I hope you got one of the newer models with the SRT (short reset trigger). Get yourself a little can of TSI-301 and some Slide Glide Lite, run about 500 rounds through it at the range, using proper barrel break in procedure, and your new toy will soon be in great shape. And remember, always run the brushes in from the chamber end.

Just be careful what targets you choose. Political Correctness now rules the firing line.

Florida Cop Fired Over “Trayvon” targets

image

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Officials with Port Canaveral said a police sergeant has been fired after he brought shooting targets resembling Trayvon Martin to a firearms training session.

Sgt. Ron King was terminated from the police department on Friday, according to officials.

Port officials said King brought two shooting targets which had images resembling Trayvon Martin on them to a firearms training session on April 4.

The image of someone wearing a dark hoodie with a drink can in their hand has become a well-known symbol in the death of 17-year-old Martin. The unarmed teen was shot and killed in Sanford last year.

King was supervising the training session and asked if anyone wanted to use them.

“He had a target in the back of his car and offered it to two other officers with the port,” said said John Walsh, CEO of Port Canaveral. “They rejected his offer and told him to put it back in the car.”

Officials will not say if the targets were actually used by King.

“Whether his act was hatred or stupidity, none is tolerable,” said Walsh.

But King told a different story in a YouTube video he posted, saying, “I find that people are accusing me of doing something that I just plain did not do.”

King said he brought the targets to demonstrate what officers should not shoot at, and claims anyone saying otherwise is trying to further their own political agenda.

So a mere drawing of a hoodie wearing target is assumed to be a vile and racist thing. And yet, at the very same time ...

DHS Spends $2 Million On “Non Traditional” Training Targets

Photo Quality “No More Hesitation” targets exclusively feature white citizens with guns

image image image image

A provider of “realistic” shooting targets to the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies has created a line of “non-traditional threat” targets that include pregnant women, mothers in playgrounds and elderly American gun owners.

Law Enforcement Targets, Inc. is a 21-year designer and full service provider of training targets for the DHS, the Justice Department and thousands of law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

The company’s website offers a line of “No More Hesitation” targets ”designed to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training.” The targets are, “meant to help the transition for officers who are faced with these highly unusual targets for the first time.”

The targets include “pregnant woman threat,” “older man with shotgun,” “older man in home with shotgun,” “older woman with gun,” “young school aged girl,” “young mother on playground,” and “little boy with real gun.”

Why are top training target suppliers for the government supplying the likes of the DHS with “non-traditional threat” targets of children, pregnant women, mothers in playgrounds, and elderly American gun owners unless there is a demand for such items?

This is particularly alarming given the fact that the Department of Homeland Security has purchased roughly 2 billion rounds of ammunition over the course of the last year, enough to wage a near 30 year war.

In comparison, during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month.

The DHS also purchased no less than 7,000 fully automatic assault rifles last September, labeling them “Personal Defense Weapons.”

The fact that targets of armed pregnant women, children, mothers in playgrounds, and American gun owners in general are being represented as “non traditional threats” “for the first time” is deeply concerning given the admitted preparations for civil unrest undertaken by Homeland Security as well as other federal agencies.

The company behind controversial shooting targets that include images of children, pregnant women and elderly gun owners received almost $2 million dollars in contracts from the Department of Homeland Security.

Minnesota-based Law Enforcement Training Inc., which brags of its close relationship with the DHS and thousands of law enforcement agencies, has stoked outrage after producing shooting targets which feature “non traditional” threats amidst banal environments such as a pregnant woman in a nursery, a mother in a school playground and a little boy.

Gun Show Weekend!

Gun Show! Please welcome the newest member of my family: Sig-Sauer P-226

image

The SIG SAUER® P226® is the pistol that set the standard by which all other combat handguns are measured. Designed as SIG’s entrant in the military trials to replace the 1911, today the P226 is in use by the U.S. Navy SEALs, Federal agents, and numerous law enforcement agencies including the Texas Rangers, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Michigan State Police to name a few. The exceptional ergonomics and balance make this full-size pistol easy to handle. Available in either 9mm, .357 SIG or .40 S&W, its longer barrel yields better ballistic performance and accuracy.

That’s it, except that I opted for the 9mm with the threaded barrel. So my barrel looks like this:

image

Note the old-style grips and the white lettering that was discontinued do to popular complaining. As I said, I don’t have the beavertail. The threaded barrel is for the optional suppressor, which I shall buy later. There’s a $200 gov’t fee, a 9-month wait, and that’s in addition to the suppressor price. I daresay I’d get on all sorts of gov’t watch lists, but as a vet, I’m already on all sorts of gov’t watch lists.

Going back tomorrow. I want to buy an ‘assault weapon’, if I can find one… machinegun

In lieu of that, I’m thinking of a SIG516.

image

If I buy it from the same dealer, I don’t have to do the background check again since I just did it today and the paperwork is still good. Is that the gun show loophole? Obviously if I buy from another dealer I have to do the check again so the new dealer has paperwork.

Missouri Sells Out

Highway patrol gave feds Missouri weapon permits data
AGAIN

Oh, but the police are your friends! My ass.

Missouri’s database of concealed weapon permits was twice given to federal authorities investigating Social Security disability fraud in a move that has enraged lawmakers already angry over potential abuses in a new driver’s licensing system.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Col. Ron Replogle was questioned for nearly an hour this morning by the Senate Appropriations Committee after he revealed to Chairman Kurt Schaefer yesterday that his agency had turned over the data.

The delivery of the information to federal authorities has become a huge issue for lawmakers since they began raising questions about new driver’s licensing procedures. A lawsuit from Stoddard County challenged the procedures that require all supporting documents — including certificates granting concealed weapon privileges — to be scanned and retained.

In November 2011 and again in January, Replogle said, an agent of the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General received discs with the data. Each time, the agent was unable to read the encryption format and destroyed the discs, Replogle said.

“They said no names were retrieved,” Replogle told the committee this morning. “They do not have those names. They did not disseminate that information, and all that information has been destroyed. We have asked for that documentation of what has happened.”

The data was turned over because the Office of Inspector General is a law enforcement agency, Replogle said. It was done by a mid-level supervisor at the patrol. Replogle said he was not informed of the transfer until four weeks ago.

The intention was to cross-check the names on the concealed carry list with the agency’s list of those with disabilities attributed to mental illness to find possible evidence of fraud in the system.

New procedures are being put in place to make sure a similar release of data does not happen again without his approval, Replogle said.

Really? Well fuck him. His approval isn’t worth a dog turd sandwich. It’s against the law. Period.

State law bars the Department of Revenue from implementing the federal Real ID Act. The procedures adopted for Missouri licenses mirror Real ID Act requirements. State law also mandates that concealed weapons permit data is confidential.

Gov. Jay Nixon has denied that concealed weapons permits were turned over to a “magical database” for federal agents to “mess with” Missourians. The requests from Social Security were revealed yesterday in an appropriations committee hearing, and Replogle gave incomplete information to Schaefer yesterday.

“There is nothing magical about the name Real ID,” Schaefer said after this morning’s hearing. “It is the things that go along with it, the giving up of personal data, the subjecting yourself to identity theft without any due process of law before that information is given up.”

For weeks, he said, the department has denied it was implementing Real ID or turning over concealed weapons permit information.

“What we now know is we were lied to about the process, how it is implemented, how it is funded, and we were lied to about the fact that the Department of Motor Vehicles or the state of Missouri did or did not give out a list of concealed carry holders to the federal government,” Schaefer said.

Don’t put your faith in the state government either. Even if they seem steadfast up at the top, somewhere in their pyramid there will be a filthy weasel like this guy. And all it takes is one.

*REMINDER: Missouri is the same state that issued a report naming tea partiers, libertarians, and anyone who flew the military authorized Gadsden Flag as potential domestic terrorists.

More over at RedState; including a taped radio show that gives much more info.

More? http://danaloeschradio.com/exclusive-dhs-plans-backdoor-gun-registration/

Hmm ... what do they call it when the government breaks it’s own laws to enact a policy that the citizens don’t want and nobody ever voted for? Can’t recall right now ... starts with a “c”, sounded like a term for a two door car I think.

kneejerk gun bill moves forward, freedom takes a backseat

RINOS defect to Camp Ayers ...

Controversial gun legislation cleared a key Senate hurdle Thursday, as lawmakers voted 68-31 to start debate on the package which includes expanded background checks and new penalties for gun trafficking.

Senate Democrats, joined by 16 Republicans, were able to overcome an attempted filibuster by GOP senators opposed to the current bill. Those senators could still slow-walk the debate, but the Senate will eventually begin votes on amendments—one of which is considered crucial to winning support for a final vote.

The following is a list of Republican lawmakers who voted to advance the gun legislation in the Senate Thursday:

New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte
Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss
Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn
Maine Sen. Susan Collins
Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake
Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson
Arizona Sen. John McCain
Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker
North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr
North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven
Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham
Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander
Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker
Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey
Nevada Sen. Dean Heller

The following is a list of Democratic lawmakers who voted against advancing gun legislation:

Alaska Sen. Mark Begich
Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor

Do not trust your government to protect your rights. Do not trust the Republicans to protect your rights. Act now and let your voice be heard.

Don’t Eat The Brown Memes

Well duh, of course Obama and Bloomberg are using phony “facts” to push for more gun control. Repeating lies until they’re accepted as facts is the Left’s way, learned straight from their propaganda hero Goebbels. And those lies are used to generate an emotional reaction from the unthinking low information voter, to get support for their knee-jerk reaction bills. Like the gun control law rushed through the NY legislature in January, that now needs all sorts of repairing, rewriting, and exceptions added, to the point where NY Governor Cuomo came right out and told people to pretend their pistol magazines had less capacity than they did, in order to comply with a law that forces everyone to use magazines that don’t really exist. Mostly. 7 round magazines DO exist, but mostly only for the classic 1911 .45acp pistol. And even after all this microscopic examination of firearms, the ding-dongs still use the wrong terms. Magazines hold cartridges, aka rounds, not bullets. Cartridges hold bullets. And clips are used to load magazines. But why let facts and terminology get in the way of a thoughtless emotional response based on a false meme?

Don’t eat the brown acid. Don’t swallow the false memes.

Obama Background Checks Stats Are Old, Weak, Full of Holes

As President Obama prepares to head to Colorado on Wednesday to push gun control legislation, some are calling into question the validity of a key statistic he’s using to tout his message on near-universal background checks.

During several speeches, Obama has said 40 percent of all gun purchases were made without a background check.

But that number is nearly two decades old and comes from a poll with a relatively tiny sample size. Gun rights groups like the National Rifle Association, as well as The Washington Post’s “Fact Checker,” are calling out the president’s stat, saying his numbers on background checks need a background check of their own.

During a speech last week, Obama asked, “Why wouldn’t we want to make it more difficult for a dangerous person to get his or her hand on a gun? Why wouldn’t we want to close the loophole that allows as many as 40 percent of all gun purchases to take place without a background check? Why wouldn’t we do that?”

It isn’t a loophole either. Another tab of poisonous brown acid. It’s called freedom.

The oft-cited figure, it turns out, was pulled from a 1997 study done by the National Institute of Justice. In the study, researchers estimated about 40 percent of all firearm sales took place through people other than licensed gun dealers. The conclusion was based on data from a 1994 survey of 2,568 households. Of those, only 251 people answered the question about where they got their guns.

PolitiFact tracked down the co-author of the study, Duke University professor Philip Cook, and asked him if he thought the 40 percent estimate is accurate.

“The answer is I have no idea,” Cook reportedly told PolitiFact. “This survey was done almost 20 years ago.”

So even 20 years ago, only about 10% of people were willing to answer that kind of MYOB (Mind Your Own Business) question. And while the article goes on to show how this very small sample from a very old survey introduces a large margin of error, it does not consider that when people are asked MYOB questions, they often lie in their answers. So the statistic Dear Reader is bandying about is more than likely worthless.

The president isn’t the only one who’s used the 40 percent figure to make a point. Many others stumping for the cause have pulled from the same info pile.

On Jan. 24, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand stated the importance of background checks during a television interview.

“The background checks bill is vitally important.  It’s going to basically say you can’t buy guns without getting a background check. Today, about 40 percent of guns are purchased without a background check.”

Seven months earlier, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg used the same statistic to skewer the National Rifle Association following the Colorado movie theatre massacre.

“There’s a loophole where you can sell guns without a background check,” he said last year, on July 22.  “Forty percent of guns are sold that way.”

Hey, look at that. Liberals all lining up behind the exact same talking points. Might as well just hand out trained parrots and save us all the effort of watching them on TV.

The truth is that NOBODY knows how many guns are sold face to face, person to person, without any paperwork or gun shop and government approval. And the even BIGGER TRUTH is that this is exactly how America is supposed to be. Private citizens going about their private business, buying and selling their own private property. And it’s none of the government’s goddam business.

PS - “don’t eat the brown acid” was a public service announcement made during the Woodstock concert during the Summer of Love. 1968. Groovy hippies man. Just in case you’re wondering. The message became famous, and is even on the Woodstock record album CD streaming audio .rar file.

Prices Slashed! Best Deer Of The Day!

Too Good A Deal Deer To Pass By

Man Charged For Hunting In A Walmart Parking Lot

[Pittsburgh PA] An Indiana County man is facing several charges, after wildlife officials say he went deer hunting in a Walmart parking lot.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission says 40-year-old Arcangelo Bianco, Jr., fired several rounds from a handgun at a 10-point white-tailed deer from within the Burrell Township store’s parking lot, and then bagged the animal near Old William Penn Highway.

The alleged shooting happened last November, while Bianco was shopping at the store, and then saw the buck in the parking lot.

Oho, there might just be a competitor for Clinton NJ in the “biggest and mostest deer everywhere you look” competition. Out by Pittsburgh you get 10 pointers IN the parking lot. Here in Clinton we get them across the street from the Walmart parking lot. There a huge herd over there by Edna Mahan and the Developmental Center

“He got out of his car and chased the deer down through the parking lot, and I believe even across Route 22,” said Patrick Dougherty, the Indiana County District Attorney.

According to charging documents, the deer ran around a corner of the store, and Bianco hopped out of his truck, gun in hand, and “began firing multiple rounds at the deer.”

Concerned shoppers packing the area on a busy day for holiday shopping called 911 to report a man with a gun running through the parking lot.

Buck Fever. You never know when it will strike.

Bianco faces a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment, as well as several hunting violations, including hunting without a license, shooting on or across highways and unlawful killing or taking of big game. The charges come after a four-month investigation.

State police initially opted to not file charges and hand over the case to the Game Commission whose charges carry stiffer penalties.

Dougherty says it was important that the charges be filed.

“Number one, we’re a big hunting community, and people that are legitimate hunters were very upset about this. Number two, that people that were at risk in parking lot that night,” said Dougherty.

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that brainwave here went out hunting at 9pm??

Here in NJ they’d never get around to charging him with the hunting violations. He’d be locked up so fast for gun crimes and so on that it would make your head spin. Out in western PA they understand things a bit better. Man, gun, big deer. It’s inevitable what happens next.

Free Guns!

Best liberal smack-down of the day.

Move To Tuscon, Have A Blast

A former mayoral candidate in Tucson, Ariz., is drawing heated criticism from Democrats after he launched a program this week to hand out free shotguns in high-crime neighborhoods.

Shaun McClusky, who kicked off the program Monday, financed it with initial donor commitments of $12,000. He told FoxNews.com that with those private donations alone, he can arm and train 36 people—and hopes to begin that process in 60 days.

McClusky said he’s already received more than a dozen responses from residents, “none of them negative, all of them positive.”

image

The 9 shot Mossberg 590, about $325, makes a great home defense gun. Comes in 12 or 20 gauge

But with McClusky launching the gun handout program in the same area where former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in 2011, he’s running into stiff resistance from Arizona officials.

State Rep. Victoria Steele, who represents Tucson, called the program “plain lunacy.”

“Arizonans in Tucson and across the state are demanding that we reduce gun violence and create safer communities. Handing out shotguns is not a solution,” she said in a written statement.

Want to bet Ms. Lib? $50 says that crime in the neighborhood he distributes the guns in drops like a friggin’ rock within 3 months.
Especially if he talks up the act, adds some possible BS about a new Neighborhood Watch and Citizen’s Night Patrol. That will drive the Left and the media ( but I repeat myself) bugpoop, freak out the police, and result in a much higher patrol presence in the area. Which will cause crime rates to drop.  Hahahahaa. Just make sure that old Jim Crow helps the guns go to the proper people. Otherwise it WILL be the Wild West.

The program, though, is actually the brainchild of a master’s student at the University of Houston. The student, Kyle Coplen, launched what he calls the Armed Citizen Project, a nonprofit that is handing out “defensive shotguns” for free in certain neighborhoods of Houston and studying the effect on crime rates.

Reached Thursday, Coplen said it’s too early to tell whether there is an effect—but he said he intends to expand the program to 15 cities by the end of the year. Right now, the program is only in Houston and Tucson, with McClusky’s help.

“His idea’s great,” McClusky said Thursday. “So I took his idea and I ran with it here in Tucson.”

McClusky said he’s working with a gun shop that will help procure the shotguns and run the background checks and another school that will help conduct training classes. He said he’s identified three high-crime neighborhoods and estimates it will cost $300 to $350 to arm each person who signs up.

Pure undiluted awesome.

That’s right you EUrowienies, in America we sell ammo designed specifically for shooting people

20 gauge shells are very similar

Don’t know shotgun gauges from a hole in the ground? Here’s Heather to help show you the differences. Smaller gauge number equals bigger gun and more recoil

A Different Kind Of Boomstick

Oh FutureBoy, Your Gun Is Ready

It’s an SW1 from the German company Steinkamp. It’s a two barreled bullpup with 24” barrels that’s probably too short overall to be sold in the USA. It costs about $5000. It weighs 7 1/2lb. It’s available chambered in 8x57, or custom ordered in any rimmed cartridge you want, up to one or both barrels as 20 gauge shotguns. It came out in 2008, so maybe they can make it in 12 gauge by now. Takes scopes or Aimpoint style sights. They’ll even build you one stocked in wood laminate if you insist. But you still only get 2 shots.

more info here.

Wonder if they could make one with a built-in laser? Kewlness! Somewhere, Buck Rogers is envious.

Gun Quote Of The Day

Sometimes you cruise the ‘net and just find the most outstanding remarks ...

Participating in a gun buy back because you believe that the criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you believe that the neighbors have too many kids.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
