Aid convoy stoned by irate Egyptians.  Ha. Good.  It’s that Commie Galloway Guy .. read.

Just so you folks know who don’t know and now ya will.

This Galloway buffoon (I call him that but he isn’t really totally stupid) is a true blue Anti-American so and so , and so I haven’t any problems reading that he may be having a problem here and there.  Wish they’d keep him where he is.

I don’t think he’s still a member of Parliament.  Lyndon?  Did he lose his seat?  Doesn’t read that way.  I thought he was out.

Anyway, he is pretty shrewd but then so were Hitler and Stalin and Mao.  But this Galloway is slicker by far you can bet your butt on that.

Here’s something from The Clue Batting Cage that will give you some idea.

The Gall of George Gallway

BBC News reports that Incessant Terror Apologist George Gallway ("Respect" party, UK) is praising Iraq “martyrs”.

Some in the British Government are trying to downplay any influence the man has, presumably over Islamist militants. But they miss the point.

He says:

“It can be said, truly said, that the Iraqi resistance is not just defending Iraq. They are defending all the Arabs and they are defending all the people of the world against American hegemony.”

And that isn’t all this guy says.  Again, from the same source as above:

“These poor Iraqis - ragged people, with their sandals, with their Kalashnikovs, with the lightest and most basic of weapons - are writing the names of their cities and towns in the stars, with 145 military operations every day, which has made the country ungovernable.

“We don’t know who they are, we don’t know their names, we never saw their faces, they don’t put up photographs of their martyrs, we don’t know the names of their leaders.”

Now then, this is just part of what the blog had to say and by all means use that link above for more.

Clearly openly and drippingly romanticising the Baathist and Islamist resistance and dismissing the other 20 million or so Iraqis who want nothing to do with Ba’athists or Islamist extremists. This is clearly a recruitment speech. Gallway is a mouthpiece for the Islamists. He is working for them. He is a traitor.

So you can see why I’m so nit picky and pleased when things don’t go exactly as this guy would like.  Whatever causes him agro, I’m all for it.

George Galloway convoy stoned by irate Egyptians
A British aid convoy led by George Galloway, the east London MP, that was carrying relief supplies for Gaza, was pelted with stones and vandalised in the Egyptian town El-Arish late on Sunday, an organiser said.

by Our Foreign Staff
Last Updated: 9:22AM GMT 09 Mar 2009

The convoy, which set out from London last month carrying relief supplies valued at £1 million ($1.4 million), was in El-Arish, a border staging post about 28 miles from the Rafah passage to Gaza.

“It’s an absolute disgrace,” said the organiser of the aid shipment, Yvonne Ridley. “The power was cut. During cover of darkness members of our convoy were attacked with stones.

image

“Vandals also wrote dirty words and anti-Hamas slogans,” she said. “Several people in the convoy were injured in the attack.”

A security official said that during a power cut, which is a frequent occurrence in the town, children had pelted the convoy with stones.

The convoy is expected to head to Rafah but its future movement is tied up in a dispute between organisers and Egyptian officials, who had welcomed the activists, over the inclusion of non-medical aid in the convoy.

Egyptian officials have said they would allow medical relief through the Rafah passage but non-medical goods such as food would have to pass through Israel’s crossings with the Palestinian enclave.

“George Galloway is still in negotiations,” Ridley said. “What we have agreed to do is to separate the medical aid from the non-medical aid. The non-medical will go into Gaza via the Egyptian Red Crescent.”

Ten Libyan trucks carrying medicine were allowed to transfer their aid to Gaza on Sunday, a border official said.

Egypt opened the Rafah crossing to aid and Palestinian wounded during Israel’s 22-day war in Gaza in December and January, which killed 1,300 Palestinians and 13 Israelis, but has since closed it to aid.

It is not the first time the shipment has attracted controversy. Three men arrested by counter-terrorism police last month were allegedly planning to leave Britain as part of the convoy to Gaza.

A spokesman said police had not contacted the organisors in relation to the arrests.

WOO-HOO … I THINK THE NORTH KOREANS MIGHT BE A TAD UPSET WITH US.

Gee, Maybe we should just apologize since we’re busy in other places.
No wait. Before we do anything or try and respond, we should check first with Europe to see what they say.  Maybe they’ll be able to help since they like us now. ?  Hmmm. Maybe they only like Barry.  Maybe we could just send him? Hey. I like that. Lets send Barry over there to talk with them.

They so seem a bit touchy here but I wonder if they’re bluffing.

What?  Me Worry?

btw ... Are you folks back home getting this story this way?

North Korea threatens full scale war if rocket is intercepted
North Korea says it will wage war on America, Japan and South Korea if any attempt is made to intercept the launch of a rocket it claims is intended to put a satellite into space.

By Richard Spencer in Beijing
Last Updated: 7:13AM GMT 09 Mar 2009

It has also cut off its border and telephone links with the South in protest at military exercises by American and South Korean troops which began on Monday.

Plans for a launch were first picked up by satellite imagery, with foreign intelligence agencies saying it was a test of a long-range Taepodong-2 missile with the capacity to hit parts of the United States.

The United States said it would shoot down the missile if it headed towards its territory. Japan has suggested it might try to intercept any launch, even if the payload is a communications satellite as claimed by Pyongyang.

“If the enemies recklessly opt for intercepting our satellite, our revolutionary armed forces will launch without hesitation a just retaliatory strike operation,” the general staff of the North Korean army said in a statement on state media. It singled out the United States, Japan and South Korea as targets.

“Shooting our satellite for peaceful purposes will precisely mean a war,” it said.

The North has put its army on full alert in the face of the annual spring military joint exercises begun today by the South Koreans and Americans.

It shut the border point which allows South Koreans to visit a special industrial zone in the city of Kaesong which is funded and run by South Korean companies. The South said 726 people had been turned back.

“It is nonsensical to maintain a normal communications channel at a time when the South Korean puppets are getting frantic with the above-said war exercises, levelling guns at fellow countrymen in league with foreign forces,” the North said.

Last week it also said it could not guarantee the safety of civilian aircraft which approached North Korean airspace during the exercises, causing airlines to adjust their routes.

This threat in particular is beyond the standard fare of North Korean rhetoric. It comes after six months of political uncertainty in relations between North Korea and the West, which had been improving slightly in the wake of a deal supposed to bring an end to its nuclear weapons programme.

Most western analysts linked the uncertainty to the stroke believed to have been suffered by the North’s leader, Kim Jong-il, last August.

This weekend he emerged to cast his ballot in elections for the country’s official parliament, in which he was a candidate.

Voting was expected to be unanimous. Only one candidate’s name appeared on each ballot, and while it was theoretically possible to cross that candidate’s name off, electors had to do so in a special booth, making clear they were dissenters.

The main focus of interest during these elections was rumours that Kim’s youngest son, Kim Jong-woon, would stand.

There is as yet no clear sign of a succession to the leadership. If the rumours were confirmed, Jong-woon would be the only one of the three sons to have been appointed to any official position, a clear sign that he was being marked out.

But as yet no names of candidates other than Kim senior have been given to the outside world.

AN AFFRONT TO THE WORLD?  OH WELL IF IT’S IN THE TIMES ……

I wasn’t gonna boot again tonight. But damn, there was the Times on the table and I just had to open it.

I got PO’d over their editorial re. Guantanamo.  What is it with these folks here.

These schmucks are worried about due process.  Yes I understand it could happen to any of us given the right circumstances. But come on damn it.
This guy’s story just isn’t an ordinary everyday thing.  Sure, we all try sneaking into countries, we all end up by mistake in Afganland. Where oh btw, there’s a war of some kind going on.

I’m just pissed at the continued hue and cry about Gitmo like it’s anyone’s business but ours.

Here’s what I mean. No reason you guys shouldn’t see it.

Due Process
Guantánamo Bay was an affront to the world. Its inmates must now find justice outside.
But that does not mean making Binyam Mohamed a hero.

I really don’t much care about any “affront” my country may have caused the world, comrade editor. Frankly, our security arrangements are not the business of some pinko editor in London mounting his moral soapbox.
I’m more worried about losing my country the same way the Brits have lost theirs. Won’t happen quite as fast in my country though, cause we have guns and the willingness to use em.
An affront to the world?  The whole world?  Africa? So.America? Somalia??? RUSSIA?  Hey mr. editor, screw the world and you too.

The US detention centre at Guantánamo Bay was a grotesque betrayal of justice. But its story does not end with the US President’s decision to close the camp. It is only the beginning of difficult decisions for other countries about how to treat returning inmates. The arrival at RAF Northolt yesterday of Binyam Mohamed, the first prisoner released since President Obama took office, poses real dilemmas for the British Government.

Like many former detainees, Mr Mohamed’s history is complicated. An Ethiopian by birth, he spent seven years in Britain before heading to Afghanistan, where he allegedly attended a paramilitary training camp, and then to Pakistan, where he was arrested by Pakistani security forces in 2002 on suspicion of terrorism. He has spent the last seven years in some of the most horrific jails in the world. He claims to have endured both extraordinary rendition and torture, orchestrated by the US and allegedly abetted by UK intelligence services.

These are serious charges, which must be taken seriously. The fact is that in seven years, Mr Mohamed was never tried. He was initially accused by the US of involvement with al-Qaeda, but charges against him were dropped some months ago. He has also, almost certainly, suffered torture. The Attorney-General has rightly opened an investigation into whether there was criminal wrongdoing by M15, which supposedly interrogated Mr Mohamed in Pakistan.

Whatever his reasons for travelling to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mr Mohamed has been treated outrageously. It was essential that he be released, and right that the British Government pushed the CIA to make documents available to his defence counsel to facilitate that release. There is no justification for him to be put in prison now, or to be kept under a control order which would restrict his movements.

image

(I couldn’t resist sticking this toon in here.

Yet the wrongs that Mr Mohamed has suffered do not mean that the British Government can put aside all questions of national security. It would be foolish to do so, not least given the Pentagon’s claim that 61 former Guantánamo inmates have “returned to jihad”. Mr Mohamed is not a British citizen. The decision to welcome him here, and presumably to fund his housing and medical treatment, seems to be partly motivated by a desire to help to speed the closure of Guantánamo, and partly because Britain was his official place of residence when he was arrested. (His residency expired while he was in prison).

It is therefore right and proper for the Government to have set some conditions in return. Mr Mohamed has accepted that he must report regularly to the authorities, and that he will be kept under surveillance. If he turns out to pose no threat to this country, he should have nothing to fear, and Britain can feel proud of helping America to try to cleanse its reputation. But his immigration status must be linked to his behaviour. Mr Mohamed has been admitted to the UK on a “temporary” basis. If he gives any cause for alarm, the Government should lose no time in returning him to Ethiopia.

Mr Mohamed is challenging the legality of his detention, which is clearly a matter for the US Government. His lawyers have also served suit in the UK, demanding that the Government release US intelligence documents it holds. But that must be a decision for the US authorities, not the UK ones. The Foreign Secretary is right to warn that for Britain to reveal another country’s intelligence would damage trust between intelligence services. The stain of Guantánamo can only be eased if its detainees are now given due process. But justice does not require that Britain should undermine its own national security. Mr Mohamed’s fate now lies in his own hands.

Under this rule, even Osama Bin Laden is British.  (A BMEWS MUST READ. REALLY!)

RICHARD LITTLEJOHN is a columnist with The Daily Mail here in England.

I think he’s perhaps one of the best, most logical and clear thinking conservative writers around.
I really admire and appreciate good word smiths.  Even if one happens to be on the left.  But I’m especially happy when the best are found in the conservative camp.

There is a very serious problem this country faces, and the left wing powers that be along with the european weenies of the eu are helping to make it worse.  But here.  I’ll let Mr. Littlejohn tell you about it.  Even an American not living here has to wonder about what this country is doing to itself.
Maybe the people here didn’t realize exactly what they were getting themselves into when they voted Labour in 1997.  But they should have.
But then, Blair was a damn good salesman and the thing he sold the very best was .... Blair.

It’s my personal belief that the Labour party is destroying this country.  Even scarier is I am not certain the Tories can save it even if they win the next election.
Stay Tuned.

Under this rule, even Osama Bin Laden is British

Last updated at 8:27 AM on 20th February 2009

Some years ago, in the wake of the Afghan hijack fiasco at Stansted, I invented a spoof game show called ‘Asylum!’

Anyone could play, provided they had no links to Britain. International terrorists were especially welcome.

All you had to do to win was find your way here and remember the magic word ‘asylum’. Prizes included a council house, lavish benefits and lashings of Legal Aid.

It was supposed to be a joke but, as always, was based on fact. I can remember writing that none of the hijackers would be deported and they’d all end up living here permanently, courtesy of the mug British taxpayer.

That’s exactly what happened. The Afghans took their place among a motley crew of foreign undesirables granted refuge in Britain. Top of the list was Abu Qatada, described as Osama Bin Laden’s European ambassador.

image

He’s been shacked up in West London since 1993, when he arrived from his native Jordan on a false passport. Since then he’s cost us £50,000 a year in benefit payments and more than £1.5million in lawyers’ fees.

After 9/11, the Government woke up to the enemy within. Tony Blair announced that ‘the game has changed’. No longer would we play host to Islamist headbangers, dedicated to our destruction.

Britain’s reputation as a soft touch was over. The preachers of hate were to be rounded up and kicked out, we were promised.

Blair knew perfectly well that was never going to happen, thanks to Labour’s embrace of the European ‘yuman rites’ act, which he once called his proudest achievement in politics.

And despite a raft of grandstanding ‘ anti-terror’ measures, Qatada is still here, along with a roll call of psychopaths from across the globe.

This week, after a drawn-out legal battle, the Law Lords ruled finally that Qatada could be returned to Jordan, where he has been convicted in absentia of terrorism offences.

But that won’t happen any time soon, either. The appeals process isn’t exhausted by any means, and will drag on for years, fuelled by a bottomless well of Legal Aid.

To add insult to injury, a panel of European judges has awarded Qatada £2,500 in damages for the brief period he spent in Belmarsh prison after 9/11.

Another ten foreign terror suspects held at the same time also received payouts ranging from £1,500 to £3,400 each.

image
‘YA’ KNOW, I SOMETIMES WONDER WHY I’M HIDING IN THIS SMELLY CAVE WHEN I COULD BE CLAIMING MY HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE UK.’

They include a variety of north Africans with links to Al Qaeda and other terror groups. Most, like Qatada, entered on false passports. They should have been deported instantly.

Even after they were jailed as a threat to national security, they were all free to leave the country voluntarily at any time. They chose to remain in prison and fight expulsion through the courts. Eventually, they were released under ‘control orders’.

And until Britain repeals the pernicious ‘yuman rites’ act, here they’ll stay, indefinitely.

The ‘rights’ of foreign terrorists will continue to trump the rights of law-abiding British citizens, who will be forced to carry on picking up the bill for their expensive lawyers and welfare benefits.

We’re not even allowed ‘for legal reasons’ to know the names of eight of the men we have been ordered to pay compensation. So who should we make out the cheque to, then? There is no end to this lunacy. Binyam Mohammed is an Ethiopian citizen who was granted leave to live in Britain. In 2001, he decided he’d rather live in Afghanistan.

Shortly after 9/11, he was arrested at Karachi airport carrying a false passport, trying to board a plane for London. He ended up at Guantanamo Bay and claims to have been tortured.

Britain is now moving heaven and earth to bring him ‘home’. Yet he hasn’t lived here for eight years and left of his own free will. By no stretch of the imagination is he a British ‘resident’, let alone a British citizen.

We’ve got enough problems with foreign terrorists, not to mention home-grown headbangers, without working ourselves into a lather over the fate of an Ethiopian who was resident in Afghanistan when he was arrested in Pakistan.

In the case of Binyam Mohammed, what we’re looking at is extraordinary rendition in reverse. Instead of flying terror suspects abroad to be tortured, we’re flying them here to be pampered.

Taken to its logical conclusion, the definition of British ‘resident’ should apply to Osama Bin Laden. After all, he lived in London for a few years before moving to Afghanistan. Maybe we should offer to bring him ‘home’, too.

And if Bin Laden was discovered living above a kebab shop in Finsbury Park, he’d be granted indefinite leave to stay, showered with benefits and given access to the best ‘yuman rites’ lawyers taxpayers’ money could buy.

If we can’t even deport Abu Qatada, because he wouldn’t face a fair trial, what chance would we stand with Bin Laden?

Welcome to London, twinned with the Hotel California. You can check in any time you like - but you can never leave.

LITTLEJOHN

You cannot do anything british in Great Britain any more!!  AN UPDATE TO EARLIER STORY.

Earlier this week I posted this story.

Row over Cambridge University’s ‘insensitive and offensive’ British Empire ball.

Row over Cambridge University’s ‘insensitive and offensive’ British Empire ball
By Tamara Cohen
Last updated at 3:49 PM on 09th February 2009

Cambridge University has been accused of advocating slavery and racism yesterday by hosting a glamorous ball to celebrate the excesses of the British Empire.
Emmanuel college is hosting the ‘Empire’ ball in honour of ‘the Victorian commonwealth and all of its decadences’ priced at £136 per head.
But there was outrage from anti-racist groups as students were urged to ‘Party like it’s 1899’ - the year the Boer War started and concentration camps were used for the first time.

http://tinyurl.com/asw97u

Well just to update BMEWS on the story and let everyone know.

The miserable spineless and cowardly wimps who are the powers that be at the college, have caved in to the self appointed leftist bastards who know nothing of their own history or distort what little they do know.  The authorities at the institution for politically correct thought have changed the name as DEMANDED by the self styled “anti-racist” groups.  Apparently their pretended “outrage” impressed the people in charge of the college enough and so the ball will go on but with another name.

So, another win for the thought police and the left.

I think I now see clearly why Brit officialdom have an aversion to and strict ban on guns in this country. Makes sense ya think about it.

It’s to stop ppl like me from using protest groups as target practice!  Which I would be sorely tempted to do.  I mean really tempted.

Their continued breathing offends me.

Orwellian ‘equality’ agenda is not just sinister - it’s unhinged. Of course. It’s called Socialism.

TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEEDS.
FROM?
THEM WHO HAS IT.  WHO ELSE?

GREAT BRITAIN ON THE VERGE OF ANOTHER SURGE IN SEEKING ANSWERS IN THE FAILED PAST.

Today’s White Paper on social mobility should concern anyone who cares about justice and liberty, for it is not about social mobility at all.

It is in fact a blueprint for imposing ‘equality’ through every single arm of government.

By, Melanie Phillips
Daily Mail

Already, every public authority in Britain is legally bound to ensure that policies do not unfairly discriminate on grounds of race, gender, disability or sexuality – a requirement which has actually brought about much injustice. Now they will be similarly bound to bridge the gap between rich and poor.

And how are they going to do this? Inescapably, by taking away from the better off what they have achieved on the basis that this is unjustified ‘privilege’, and giving it to the poor on the basis that they are unable to achieve by themselves.

And this from a government which has itself spent the last decade destroying the life chances of millions of poor people by undermining the nuclear family, bringing the education system to its knees and trapping more and more people in welfare dependency.
Gordon Brown and Harriet Harman

Double act: Instead of actually helping those who have been unable to make it, Gordon Brown and Harriet Harman will instead punish those who have

Instead of genuinely helping those who have been unable to make it, they will instead punish those who have. And they call that ‘fairness’!

Social mobility is actually the antithesis of equality, because if people are able to progress higher up the social and income ladder it follows that others will be left behind.

Social mobility inevitably rests upon a meritocracy in which people are rewarded for what they have achieved. This is the only fair system. Imposing ‘equality’ - which is really a kind of ‘identicality’, a belief that everyone must end up in exactly the same place - is monumentally unfair.

It amounts to institutionalised discrimination based on the highly subjective and ideological prejudices of those in power to decide just who deserves to be privileged and who to be discriminated against.

Accordingly, any moves to apply it are inevitably deeply coercive and in the end unattainable - as was proved so appallingly under Soviet communism. For the British government to introduce this Orwellian agenda is not just sinister - it is positively unhinged.

The person said to be behind this is that middle-class paragon, the Equalities Minister Harriet Harman, who is said to have convinced her Cabinet colleagues of the need to enshrine the class war in law.

good morning all comrades. todays order of business: Private schools told: open to poor or Close!

Today’s lesson for new comradeskys, commissars will take notes on those not paying attention.

“FROM EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY, TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEEDS.”

Comrade Marx will give test.  Those failing will be re- schooled. Those unwilling will be shot.

Have a nice day.

Private schools have been told to provide more free places to children from poor homes - even if they claim to be full - or effectively face closure.

By Graeme Paton, Education Editor
Last Updated: 12:22AM GMT 17 Dec 2008

The new rules are designed to stop fee-paying schools being run exclusively for the wealthy.

Guidance published today by the Charity Commission also suggests schools could raise fees for existing parents as part of a “deliberate pricing strategy” to fund more places for deprived children.

The rules, which come into force next year, will be a blow to many independent schools as they battle the threat of falling pupil numbers prompted by the economic downturn.

Last night, experts said it may be the “final nail in the coffin” for some smaller schools.

Under Labour’s 2006 Charities Act, fee-paying schools are no longer automatically entitled to charitable status.

They must prove they provide “public benefit” to hang on to tax breaks worth an estimated £100m to the sector every year.

Schools have already warned they may have to increase class sizes or ask existing parents for more cash to satisfy the requirements.

Official guidance outlines how independent schools - along with charities for the poor, charitable hospitals and religious groups - can pass the new test.

It said they must do far more than offer “minimal or tokenistic” help for working class children.

In Scotland, four leading private schools have already been ordered to increase the amount spent on poor pupils or risk being stripped of charitable status.

The Charity Commission said it would intervene at schools struggling to meet the requirement in England and Wales to find “ways to fund free or subsidised access”.

It has the ultimate power to remove schools from the charities register - effectively closing them down and transferring assets to other charities - although officials insist this would be highly unlikely.

Sue Fieldman, of the Good Schools Guide, said: “This is not the Christmas present private schools wanted. It could not have come at a worse time. Many are already stretched financially as parents struggle to pay fees and it could be the final nail in the coffin, particularly for some small prep schools. I imagine the commission will be quite lenient to begin with but increase the pressure on schools when the economy picks up.”

Guidance, which has been toughened up compared to draft rules published in March, suggests schools can help pass the public benefit test by:

* Giving pupils from state schools free access to swimming pools, drama studies and concert halls

* Allowing them to sit in on certain classes not offered in the state sector

* Giving poor pupils coaching to boost their chances of getting into top universities

* Sponsoring one of the Government’s semi-independent academies

But the document makes it clear that providing more bursaries is the most likely way to satisfy the requirements.

It suggested schools should consider “increasing general fee levels in order to offer subsidies to those unable to pay the full cost”. Last year, the average private school charged £11,253.

(in dollars at that time it would have come to more then $22,000.)

The commission said the option was “certainly available” to owners, although it would not be feasible for every school.

Guidance said others may offer more places even if they are officially full. This will raise concerns among parents that small class sizes - seen as one of the main attractions of the fee-paying sector - may have to rise in some schools.

“It might be possible to offer additional places at a school in addition to the places for existing pupils,” said the document. “Even if there are legal and practical limitations on how many boarding pupils can be housed, additional day pupils might be easier to cater for and cost less.”

Schools were encouraged to drop academic scholarships - which can often go to bright children from wealthy homes - and divert cash to means-tested bursaries.

If schools cannot afford subsidies, the commission said they should consider embarking on fundraising drives or find “wealthy philanthropists”. Commissioners may step in to help schools raise money.

Commissioners are already investigating five schools as part of pilot tests. Other schools will be expected to file public benefit reports in their annual accounts from 2009, and officials may carry out random inspections.

The guidance makes clear schools will be judged on a case by case basis, although large schools with the highest fees will be expected to do the most.

It also rejects claims from many headmasters that they should pass the test simply by educating pupils who would otherwise be schooled at taxpayers’ expense.

“If the opportunity to benefit… is not genuine, or is meaningless or trivial, then it would count for very little in a public benefit assessment,” said the guidance.

More than 500,000 children attend 2,000 private schools in the UK. The majority were set up as charities, receiving benefits - principally in rate relief - of about £225 per child every year.

Last year, the number of pupils at independent school increased, but there are fears the economic downturn may push some families away. At least seven have closed this year citing the credit crunch.

Guidance effectively rules out the possibility that schools can relinquish charitable status or be sold to profit-making organisations to get around the rules.

Under charity law, any proceeds of a sale must be used for charitable purposes, it said.

Dame Suzi Leather, Charity Commission chairman, said: “Not only is it now a legal requirement for all charities to demonstrate how they benefit the public, but also our own research shows that the public expects charities to be clear about what they do and to be accountable and transparent at all times.”

The Independent Schools Council was outraged by draft guidance published earlier this year, insisting it was “heavily biased in favour of wealthier charities”.

David Lyscom, ISC chief executive, said it was studying the latest report before advising schools in the New Year.

SCHOOL DAZE

HELP, is needed here from someone who understands the school system here better then this foreigner posting the article.  Lyndon? Chris? Brits anywhere?

Why does a school charging £11,000 a head qualify to collect any monies from charities. Unless the money is specific to a person on say a scholarship or grant of some sort.  I know private schools here are what Americans call public, and public schools here are private.  ???

Man oh man.  I can see why you guys drive on the WRONG side.
Get ready for “roundabouts” in the USA. Right. Nashville already has one or two. Anywhere else?

100,000 citizens resist Obama

this post is dedicated to Turtler

An email from Grassfire.org:

+ + Obama Resistance Update
Grassfire.org

Christopher,

Thank you so much for taking part in Grassfire’s “Join The Resistance” campaign. I’m thrilled to report that in just one week, more than 100,000 citizens have joined the Resistance!

This is great news, especially with more and more reports about the very aggressive agenda President-elect Obama has set for the first days of his administration.

Obama’s promised executive orders alone will shut down oil and gas exploration, push radical global warming policies and force taxpayer funded abortions. And now Obama is promising more massive bailouts that will further expand government power.

+ + Our Goal: 200,000 Resisters This Week!

Are we there yet?

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism.  But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Norman Thomas
U.S. Socialist Party

Presidential candidate 1940

“We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism.”

- Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev, 1959

2001 radio interview revisited

Just because the internet was all over Obama’s 2001 radio interview the other day doesn’t mean that the rest of the nation is even aware of it yet. Keep spreading the word! A day or two spent focusing on this is NOT enough. And sometimes it takes a day or two for some authors to work up a good essay on the subject. That’s Ok by me.

Very simply, our Constitution was written to limit the power of government. That’s the whole concept behind America: We The People have the power and the rights; government of all forms should be minimal. That’s why the Constitution writes about “negative liberties” as B. Hussein Obama put it in that interview. That’s all that should be there when talking about the powers of the government. He just doesn’t get it. Constitutional Professor, my pustulant posterior.

Laura Hollis writes a good one in today’s Town Hall. It’s worth a read, if only to help fine tune your own talking points around the water cooler.

Just as he tried to prove to everyone that his patriotism was demonstrated by the lack of symbols of the United States, so he is now arguing that his passion for the Constitution is demonstrated by his commitment to shredding it.

Well sure ... his side believes that the “ultimate expression of patriotism is dissent” ... so this attitude means Obama must be the ultimate patriot, right? The Left are morons.

In a radio interview given in 2001, Obama reveals yet again about what he means by ‘equality,’ when he says, “…the Supreme Court never entered into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.”

Bad?  Sure.  Because now it’s not just “spread the wealth” a little bit (antithetical as that already is to American notions of hard work and prosperity).  It’s that “redistribution of wealth” is part and parcel of Obama’s vision of what is “political and economic justice” in this society.

But it is much worse.  Because this Harvard-educated lawyer then announces that the United States Supreme Court when headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren, was “not radical enough,” in its pursuit of civil liberties, because “it didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution.”

If this has not stopped you dead in your tracks, either you don’t understand, or you’re already dead.

Well, it didn’t actually stop me in my tracks. I figured out ages ago that this guy was an anarchist commie, just like his “fellow traveler” mommy and absent babydaddy, just like Davis, Wright, Ayers, and all his other mentors, and the New Party in Chicago he once belonged to. This coffin has so many nails in it there’s no room for the corpse!

Obama is engaging in dangerous demagoguery when he suggests that we the people of the United States need him – or the government he wants in place – to give us rights we don’t already have.

This deceitful view was echoed when he was introduced by Democratic Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur in Ohio earlier this week, who said that Americans “needed a Second Bill of Rights guaranteeing all Americans a job, health care, homes, an education, and a fair playing field for business and farmers.” This is no “bill of rights,” it is a bill of attainder (look it up).  Those found “guilty” would be anyone wealthier, more successful, or more prosperous than any other.  And the punishment?  The very things Obama and the Democrats are already pushing for: high taxes, and even seizure and redistribution of all American’s private property.

I am stunned beyond belief that these blunt admissions do not give otherwise patriotic Obama supporters (and this describes the vast majority of them) serious pause.

… Blinded by the light(worker) ...

I’m not mocking Ms. Hollis at all, just inserting a few of my own comments. Spend a few minutes reading her essay, then get back out there spreading the word.

the REAL William Ayers

I bought up the subject of what’s going to happen after we take over the government. We, we become responsible, then, for administrating, you know, 250 million people.

And there was no answers. No one had given any thought to economics; how are you going to clothe and feed these people. The only thing that I could get, was that they expected that the Cubans and the North Vietnamese and Chinese and the Russians would all want to occupy different portions of the United States.

They also believed that their immediate responsibility would be to protect against what they called the counter-revolution. And they felt that this counter-revolution could best be guarded against by creating and establishing re-education centers in the southwest, where we would take all the people who needed to be re-educated into the new way of thinking and teach them… how things were going to be.

I asked, well, what’s going to happen to those people that we can’t re-educate; that are die-hard capitalists. And the reply was that they’d have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated that they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these re-education centers. And when I say eliminate, I mean kill. 25 million people.

I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees from Columbia and other well known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people.

And they were dead serious.”

Larry Grathwohl, former member of the Weather Underground

I found this at Pal2Pal, she found it at Confederate Yankee, he found it at Zombietime. It’s at The Jawa Report too, as does Little Green Footballs. Make it even more viral. Confederate Yankee has the video. Right now it’s still up on YouTube:

Information on the Weather Underground has been easily available for 20 to 30 years. And lest you think that this group dissolved in the 60s or 70s, they were still active in 1981, when they robbed a Brinks armored car at the Nanuet Mall in Nanuet NY (not 5 miles from where I was living at the time), killing and wounding several guards and several policemen a short time later. Susan L. Rosenberg was part of that gang and part of this robbery and these murders. She was also part of Ayers team that bombed the Capital in 1983. So was Linda Sue Evans. Both were sent to jail for their crimes, and they would still be there today, but Bill Clinton pardoned these terrorists at the end of his term as President.

Is that why the Weather Underground thing isn’t getting any press attention? Is it old news that doesn’t matter, because Clinton pardoned some of them and because Ayers got off on a technicality? THESE PEOPLE ARE MURDERERS. This isn’t some cutesy-poo “let’s play rebels while we’re in college” bullshit.

But it gets no traction in the media. Fuck no, it gets anti-traction: today the news is that over 3000 college professors, including fellow commies Rashid Khalidi from Columbia, and former University of Colorado Ward Churchill, have signed a petition to Leave Britney Alone!! protest what they say is the “demonization of Professor William Ayers,” asserting that his violent actions as the co-founder of the Weather Underground were just “history.” JUST HISTORY. College professors. Just history: without meaning or context or any possible relevancy to today. No more important than knowing whether it was King John or King William who signed the Magna Carta. These are the people who are teaching your children, at great cost to your bank account:

It seems that the character assassination and slander of Bill Ayers and other people who have known Obama is not about to let up. While an important concern is the dishonesty of this campaign and the slanderous McCarthyism they are using to attack Obama, we also feel an obligation to support our friend and colleague Bill Ayers. Many, many educators have reached out, asking what they could do, seeking a way to weigh in against fear and intimidation. Many of us have been talking and we agree that this one gesture, a joint statement signed by hundreds of hard-working educators, would be a great first step. Such a statement may be distributed through press releases or ads in the future.

ZombieTime has excerpts of Prairie Fire, the Weather Underground manifesto. It is a chilling document. Go and read it. And lest you think that, gosh, this happened 40 years ago when Obama was only 8 so it doesn’t matter, (even though the last of it happened only 27 years ago when Obama was 20) the contents of Prarie Fire are said to be in Sing a Battle Song: The Revolutionary Poetry, Statements, and Communiqus of the Weather Underground 1970 - 1974, a book published in 2006, dedicated to RFK’s assassin Sirhan Sirhan and still for sale at Amazon today. Damned if I’m going to buy a copy just to prove that though. Just two years ago Ayers still believed in his cause enough to republish his manifesto in a new book.

William “guilty as hell, free as a bird” Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist; a communist riveted to the idea of the violent overthrow of America and the forced re-education of her people. Obama’s friend, coworker, and babysitter: a bomb throwing anarchist bent on the violent overthrow of this nation, willing to execute 10% of the population if necessary to force his views down everyone’s throats. This is the guy who baby sat Obama’s children, who introduced him to the political world from his own living room, who shared an office with him for 3 years, who served on several committees with Obama the Community Organizer, who even got Obama to do an endorsement blurb for his kiddie book. He IS NOT simply “some guy from the neighborhood”.

Does this make Obama a communist anarchist terrorist too? No, but it doesn’t matter. As commenter Will Collier put it, while troll stomping over at Confederate Yankee:

That anyone who would so much as agree to be in the same room with Billy Ayers or Bernadine Dohrn--much less launch their career from their living room--has no business holding any elected office in this country. Period, dot.

That’s not hard to understand, unless you’re a Leftist.

God Bless you Will Collier ... you’ve hit the nail directly on the head. Not one citizen with an active braincell and half a lick of common sense should vote for Obama. Not one.

Useless Idiots

US Communist Party DOES NOT endorse Barack Obama

And they come right out and say so. Not that that stops their campaign workers from wearing Obama buttons. And the only evidence of anything McCain-ish is a tissue box on some table somewhere. But that’s just the teaser ... because you already knew the commies would never publicly get behind Obama. Wink wink, nudge nudge, not publicly, oh no. The real news is that the commies, our commies, are just thrilled to pieces that Wall Street is a mess, and the economy is teetering. And that major Socialism seems to be the temporary answer, and will be part of the next iteration of government.

US communists say their time has come

A rare bird in the political world, the US Communist Party is feeling rather smug in these days of capitalist turmoil. At the party’s New York headquarters on 23rd Street in Manhattan, regional party chairman Libero Della Piana, 36, laid out why he thinks Marxist-Leninism’s time has finally come.

“We are very excited, we feel that we are at a turning point,” Della Piana, an imposing half-Italian, half-African American with a pony tail, told AFP.

“We can afford to be less on the defensive for the first time since Ronald Reagan, and we can say our word in rebuilding America on a new basis, rebuilding a better world, instead of one based on the greed of the few.”

But American communists think that the collapse of Wall Street and huge disillusionment among the public with the economy has put them on a roll.

“We receive more and more phone calls, we have more inquiries from people, we see an increase in interest,” Della Piana said. “We hope to be part of the discussion. I can see a role for the Communist Party in this next period.”

few people were about during a visit by AFP on Monday and the atmosphere was collegial and slightly sleepy, rather than revolutionary.

“They are all out working to get people to vote,” explained Bill Davis, 65, who has been a faithful member for 37 years.

There is no communist running for the White House and the Communist Party does not endorse Democrat Barack Obama. Yet many staff here wore his picture on lapel buttons, while Republican John McCain was relegated to a box of tissues—the tissues being pulled through his mouth.

So they don’t actually endorse their candidate of choice, but they’re eagerly looking forward to the good times when he gets elected.

WITH APOLOGIES TO BMEWS. CLASS.  A MEA CULPA?  CARLA BRUNI AIDS TERRORIST.

Recently Drew and I agreed on the term class as applied to certain women.  Neither of us thought Paris Hilton exhibited much by her overall public behavior, though I tended to think perhaps she might be improving somewhat after being incarcerated.  Something she was never brought up to believe one of her monied class would experience.

image

I then posted an eye candy photo of a woman who up till that time I thought exhibited class beyond all measure.  The First Lady of France, Carla Bruni
Fully clothed she had far more appeal and striking looks then many women half her age (40 something).

image

I forgot she had been a million dollar model and so knew how to best present herself.  I now confess that blinded by her physical appearance, I was quite willing to conveniently forget just how far left her politics were are.  I came to believe she was one who did exhibit class as I understood the word.
Well, maybe I don’t understand what “class” really is.  I always just assumed I’d know it when I saw it and she seemed to embody the very meaning itself.

If real class in a person goes beyond the physical (and it does), then my idea of Bruni class has shown her to have hooves of clay.  Actually, that might not be fair to her as she never made a secret of her leftist politics and has spoken openly on the subject.  And that fact alone (being left) doesn’t mean she’s classless.
However, it’s what she’s managed to bring about in criminal matters, the total disregard of victims as she worked on the ever horny Sarko, president of France, to deny Italy the extradition of a member of The Red Brigade, that has me riled this morning.

She has NO CLASS whatever.  Simply a very good actress with the appearance of class.  I’m more disappointed in myself (typical male huh?) then in her.
She never denied her stripes and I never gazed beyond her light to see what what was behind.  So, here’s the story that has me all bothered today.

Carla Bruni uses influence to halt extradition of Red Brigades terrorist
Carla Bruni and her sister have persuaded Nicolas Sarkozy not to extradite a woman who faces life imprisonment for murder to her native Italy, sparking anger amongst her victims’ families.

By Henry Samuel in Paris
Last Updated: 6:01PM BST 13 Oct 2008

In a sign of her influence over her husband’s decision-making, the Italian-born First Lady - along with her sister - convinced the French president to drop a court order to deport exiled Red Brigades terrorist Marina Petrella to Rome.

Her personal intervention and the presidential u-turn sparked anger in Italy, which has been seeking Mrs Petrella’s extradition from France since she fled after being freed on bail in 1986.

A group representing victims of the Red Brigades said it would travel to Paris this weekend and protest against the decision in front of the Elysée palace.

Mrs Petrella was found guilty in absentia by an Italian court in 1992 of murder, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping and armed robbery.

A French court approved her extradition in December and an order to send her back to Italy had been signed by the prime minister. But after “pugnacious” lobbying by Mr Sarkozy’s wife on behalf of her older sister, actress Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, the president changed his mind - citing humanitarian grounds.

“Mrs Petrella was in danger of dying. This hunger and thirst strike had to stop, which it did. There is a humanitarian clause, I used that clause,” Mr Sarkozy said during a financial press conference.

“I told him (Mr Sarkozy) about her, especially just after I saw her in jail.

I gave him some information that was perhaps a little bit important in his decision,” said Miss Bruni-Tedeschi.

“He focused his attention on a case that he hadn’t completely focused on before,” she said. Her sister Carla said she was “happy” about the decision.

The pair personally delivered the message to Mrs Petrella on Sunday at her secure prison hospital bed, where she is refusing to eat and is in “very poor” health.

“I have a message for you from my husband,” the First Lady reportedly told her. “You will not be going back to Italy.”

The Communist Red Brigade was accused of dozens of murders in the 1970s and 80s, including that of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro in 1978.

Mr Moro’s widow, Olga, expressed outrage: “All judicial accords and conventions have been violated” by a decision “no doubt taken because the Sarkozy household was scared of unpopularity,” she said.

Mrs Petrella had been living at liberty in France until she was arrested in August 2007 at Italy’s request soon after Mr Sarkozy’s election. He had promised to end France’s policy of granting repentant ex-Red Brigades members asylum– first initiated by Socialist president François Mitterrand in 1985.

Mr Sarkozy denied that his decision would anger his Italian counterparts. “I remained in contact with them. I don’t think there was a lack of understanding. There is never a lack of understanding when one takes a humanitarian decision,” he said.

But Isabella Bertolini, a member of Mr Berlusconi’s People of Freedom party disagreed: “To apply a humanitarian clause to a terrorist convicted of homicide, theft and kidnapping sounds like a bad joke,” she told newspaper La Republicca.

The First Lady’s sister told Italian daily Corriere della Sera that Mrs Petrella’s story had particular significance for the wealthy Bruni family, which had fled to France after receiving death threats from the Red Brigades.

“I arrived in France as a little girl exactly because my family was afraid of what was happening in Italy, also because of terrorism,” Miss Bruni Tedeschi said.

“We all had a sentiment of fear, even I who was so little, and I know what it means to be welcomed by a foreign country, feel protected by it, and I can imagine what it means to suddenly lose that welcoming, lose that protection.”

This is a rare foray into politics for Mr Sarkozy’s third wife, who unlike her husband has always espoused left-wing causes.

However, it is not the first time the President has involved a spouse in politics: last year he sent his second wife Cécilia on a successful mission to free Bulgarian nurses from jail in Libya. The pair divorced last October and a month later he met Carla Bruni, a top model and successful folk pop singer.
