From The Halls Of Montezuma ….

.... To the parking lots of Ohio .... the US Marines are on guard. This one nabbed a purse snatcher. All in a day’s work for a Marine. Ooh-RAH!

image

Recruiting trip puts Marine in the right place

Marine Corps Sgt. Brandon Hampson was out looking for qualified applicants Monday when he found a purse-snatcher instead.

No sweat.

He just used another part of his Marine training, tackled the guy and held him until police got there.

Hampson, of Lancaster, aided in the arrest by the Chillicothe Police Department of Zachary Phillips, 21, of 5020 Bushmill Road. Phillips was charged with theft and taken to the Ross County Jail. Tuesday, he appeared in Chillicothe Municipal Court and was arraigned on the theft charge as well as one count of receiving stolen property.

Hampson, who joined the Marines four years ago because he said it is the best thing a young man can do, said he understands the desperation of people, but stealing from a grocery shopping mom and her kid should never be an option.

“They were there trying to do normal family stuff,” Hampson said. “No one was there to protect them. I was just glad I was there.”

On The Good News Front In Iraq

It appears that the locals are exhibiting more confidence in the ability of Iraqi security forces because they are providing more and more tips to stop terrorists in their tracks.

Can it be they are finally seeing the light? Some are.  Yet some are still blind.

“At first, I used to think of them as holy fighters. But after what we’ve been seeing on television, it became clear they were terrorists.”

Sadly, some of them are too stupid to understand what we’ve done for them in eliminating Hussein when they say:

“I don’t think I would have reported them if they were targeting only Americans,” Abdullah said. “After all, this is an occupier.”

Reading stuff like that makes me want to lob a couple of nukes in there and just be done with it.

In good news for our troops, should things continue to improve and people continue to turn in terrorists and Iraqi Security Forces stem the violence, the military may begin large scale pullbacks starting in June with most troops gone by February 2006.

“After Fallujah, and with all the weapons caches we keep finding and destroying, its getting fairly calm,” said one G2 Bulletin intelligence source inside Iraq. “The international Zone hasn’t had a rocket since December.”

The change was apparent after the elections, with the number of U.S. soldiers killed dropping from 58 in February to 30 in March—the lowest monthly death toll since 20 American soldiers were killed in February 2004.

For more on numbers of US casualties, go here.

Update

In sad news, the Army Captain I mentioned here who was accused of performing a mercy killing on an Iraqi was found guilty.

Would it have been as merciful had hew just ignored the guy and allowed him to “die with dignity?”

WTF?!?!?!

Several from our WTF?!?! department today.  I’ll try and post them in a way which has some sort of “thread” between them.  A linkage, of sorts.

bat We’ll start with story about the US Army prosecuting one of its own for “mercy killing” an Iraqi with serious head wounds.  Maybe she should have been allowed to starve to death instead?

bat The Army is now being accused of “religious discrimination” because one of its asshats was found guilty of willfully disobeying orders.

You may have heard about this in the past. Guy gets told to go to Iraq and “all of a sudden” determines it is against his religion---a pagan religion.  Practicing witchcraft.  Oh, and did I mention he screwed around with others in his marriage....

with his wife’s consent......

and that he’s bi-sexual.....

and admitted it?

Time to take this one out behind the barn and air condition his head.

bat Let’s see how many things are wrong here.
You are married.

You have a debilitating illness.

You go to a psychologist?!?!?!?!?!

For OVER TWO YEARS?!?!?!

Who....................

Taught you SPELLS?!?!?!....

Told you your Buddhist faith was wrong....

Told you your condition was terminal....

Convinced you to divorce your husband....

Convinced you to move in with the psychologist.....

Who then convinced you to take nekkid pictures of HER....

Look, it’s one thing to be a bad doctor but it’s totally another to be so stupid to stay with that doctor for almost 2 ½ years and do those stupid things.

Whatever happened to common sense and free will?

bat Taking zero-tolerance a bit too far, eh?  Schools in Maryland have mixed policies regarding the use of sunscreen.  Some let you use it.  Others mandate it be done through the nurse’s office.  Still others ban it entirely.

Oh, and kids have a “right” to wear sunscreen, too.  Hang on a sec’ while I go check my Constitution.

Yep, just as I thought.  It’s not in there.

Are our kids such pussies nowadays they need sunscreen to play outside?

That’s all I want to know.

You saw the “threads” right?  Army, Army/witchcraft, witchcraft/stupid people, stupid people/lawmakers?

Yeah, OK, a bit of a stretch.  Just don’t tell James Taranto!

Update

Last May Allan brought you this story about that asshat Army sergeant who threw the grenade in the tent of his fellow soldiers.

He claims to be Muslim.

Yesterday he was to appear before a judge on a pre-trial motion.  He tried to escape. He used a pair of scissors to stab a guard.

My question is this” why is this piece of shit still alive?

image

This is what he looks like.  In case he DOES escape.  So you can put a bullet between his eyes!!!  And what is it about Islam and Blacks, anyway?

On The Good News Front

The Pentagon decided not to file formal charges against 17 G.I.s implicated in deaths of sheethead terrorists back in 2003 and 2004.

BRAVO!!!

Nothing like a bit of good news to make your weekend a bit brighter.

Of course, the liberal panty-waisted bed-wetters in the human rights arena are fit to be tied.  If they had their way every American soldier would be in jail right now and every terrorist would be a hero.

The Good News Rolls On

I just found this on Drudge.

It is good news.

What we need is good old fashioned “prison justice” right about now.  In the old days if these sumbitches tried this they knew that to get caught would mean EVERYONE suffered regardless of guilt or innocence.

It’s time we bring that policy back.

You military guys know what I am talking about, right?  Somewhat reminiscent of those old “blanket parties” we’d give the asshole in the squad who was making life difficult for the others---except instead of one getting nailed by all, all would get nailed for the action of a few.

Bread and water, boys.  Oh, make that bread smeared with lard.  The water?  Piss.  Hey, it’s sterile when it comes out!

This came out a couple of days ago and almost got overcome by events. (OBE) But thanks to a little prodding from one of readers, I bring it back for your viewing pleasure.

And that, dear readers, is the fact that judges in Canuckistan have done something right for a change.

They ruled that one of our scumbag, piece of shit, low-life, cowardly, yellow-bellied, asshole deserters was denied “asylum” in Canada.

Now, let’s see how long before they kick his ass out.

Let’s hope some good ole boys are there to greet him......with a blanket (it’s cold in Canada)......and invite him to a party!

More Good News

Some time ago you may have read about a marine who was threatened with the loss of his home in order to pay legal fees because he flew the American flag?  His homeowner’s association wanted to use the proceeds in order to be reimbursed for their legal expenses.

An Appeals Court said NO CAN DO!!

Front-Line News

Memo from Stan: I just got this e-mail from a buddy of mine at Fort Hood. Good stuff ....

I Went to an AUSA dinner last night at the Ft. Hood Officers’ Club to hear a speech by Maj. General Pete Chiarelli, Commanding General of the 1st Cav Div. He and most of the Div. have just returned from Iraq. Very informative and, surprise, the Mainstream Media (MSM) isn’t telling the story. I was not there as a reporter, didn’t take notes but I’ll make some the points I remember that were interesting, suprising or generally stuff I had not heard before.

It was not a speech per se. He just walked and talked, showed some slides and answered questions. Very impressive guy.

1. While units of the Cav served all over Iraq, he spoke mostly of Baghdad and more specifically Sadr City, the big slum on the eastern side of theTigeris River. He pointed out that Baghdad is, in geography, is about the size of Austin. Austin has 600,000 to 700,000 people. Baghdad has 6 to7 million people.

2. The Cav lost 28 main battle tanks. He said one of the big lessons learned is that, contrary to docterine going in, M1-A2s and Bradleys are needed, preferred and devastating in urban combat and he is going to make that point to the JCS next week while they are considering downsizing armor.

3. He showed a graph of attacks in Sadr City by month. Last Aug-Sep they were getting up to 160 attacks per week. During the last three months, the graph had flatlined at below 5 to zero per week.

4. His big point was not that they were “winning battles” to do this but that cleaning the place up, electricity, sewage, water were the key factors. He said yes they fought but after they started delivering services that the Iraqis in Sadr City had never had, the terrorist recruiting of 15 and 16 year olds came up empty.

5. The electrical “grid” is a bad, deadly joke. Said that driving down the street in a Hummv with an antenna would short out a whole block of apt. buildings. People do their own wiring and it was not uncommon for early morning patrols would find one or two people lying dead in the street, having been electrocuted trying to re-wire their own homes.

6. Said that not tending to a dead body in the Muslum culture never happens. On election day, after suicide bombers blew themselves up trying to take out polling places, voters would step up to the body lying there, spit on it, and move up in the line to vote.

7. Pointed out that we all heard from the media about the 100 Iraqis killed as they were lined up to enlist in the police and security service. What the media didn’t point out was that the next day there 300 lined up in the same place.

8. Said bin Laden and Zarqawi made a HUGE mistake when bin laden went public with naming Zarqawi the “prince” of al Quaeda in Iraq. Said that what the Iraqis saw and heard was a Saudi telling a Jordainan that his job was to kill Iraqis. HUGE mistake. It was one of the biggest factors in getting Iraqis who were on the “fence” to jump off on the side of the coalition and the new gov’t.

9. Said the MSM was making a big, and wrong, deal out of the religious sects. Said Iraqis are incredibly nationalistic. They are Iraqis first and then say they are Muslum but the Shi’a - Sunni thing is just not that big a deal to them.

10. After the election the Mayor of Baghdad told him that the people of the region (Middle East) are joyous and the governments are nervous.

11. Said that he did not lose a single tanker truck carrying oil and gas over the roads of Iraq. Think about that. All the attacks we saw on TV with IEDs hitting trucks but he didn’t lose one. Why? Army Aviation.  Praised his air units and said they made the decision early on that every convoy would have helicopter air cover. Said aviators in that unit were hitting the 1,000 hour mark (sound familiar?). Said a covoy was supposed to head out but stopped at the gates of a compound on the command of an E6. He asked the SSG what the hold up was. E6 said, “Air , sir.” He wondered what was wrong with the air, not realizing what the kid was talking about. Then the AH-64s showed up and the E6 said, “That air sir.” And then moved out.

12. Said one of the biggest problems was money and regs. There was a $77 million gap between the supplemental budget and what he needed in cash on the ground to get projects started. Said he spent most of his time trying to get money. Said he didn’t do much as a “combat commander” because the the war he was fighting was a war at the squad and platoon level. Said that his NCOs were winning the war and it was a sight to behold.

13. Said that of all the money appropriated for Iraq, not a cent was earmarked for agriculture. Said that Iraq could feed itself completely and still have food for export but no one thought about it. Said the Cav started working with Texas A&M on ag projects and had special hybrid seeds sent to them through Jordan. TAM analyzed soil samples and worked out how and what to plant. Said he had an E7 from Belton, TX (just down the road from Ft. Hood) who was almost single-handedly rebuilding the ag industry in the Baghdad area.

14. Said he could hire hundreds of Iraqis daily for $7 to $10 a day to work on sewer, electric, water projects, etc. but that the contracting rules from CONUS applied so he had to have $500,000 insurance policies in place in case the workers got hurt. Not kidding. The CONUS peacetime regs slowed everything down, even if they could eventually get waivers for the regs.

There was more, lots more, but the idea is that you haven’t heard any of this from anyone, at least I hadn’t and I pay more attention than most.

Great stuff. We should be proud. Said the Cav troops said it was ALL worth it on Jan. 30 when they saw how the Iraqis handled election day. Made them very proud of their service and what they had accomplished.

The Sooner, The Better

When I was in the USAF, lo, so many moons ago, the issue of base closure was one that rankled with us.

We were constantly getting told by Congress we had to do more with less yet those fucktards would never let us close bases we did not need; bases we knew we could consolidate and make more efficient when resources were pooled.  This eliminated the need to maintain large expensive buildings plus huge tracts of real estate.

These Congress critters are the same people that forced us to outsource lots of what we did but were hesitant to allow us to centralize and streamline operations first, thereby reducing manpower and costs at the outset, so that the transition would cost less because there’d be fewer military “slots” to privatize.

We knew damned well that if we didn’t, when outsourcing took place WITHOUT centralizing and consolidation, those jobs would go “contract” and after a couple of years we’d NEVER be able to get out from under them plus the contractors would start “creating” new jobs making it even MORE expensive for the USAF to do business because the AF had to pay the bills.

Congress, on the other hand, was more concerned about meeting deadlines and “looking good” so as to give the appearance they were doing something rather than doing it right.

I say it is time we start doing a MAJOR shutdown of unnecessary bases.

The people that know the job ought to be able to have SOME input into this process.

Keeping a base open may be good for the community but it is nothing more than federal welfare.  Many closed bases are raging success stories:  Loring, Maine; Pease, New Hampshire; Bergstrom, Texas.  It’s time to shut down and let the military do what they do best:  marshal resources, reduce the span of control, centralize control, and increase internal efficiencies.  Then they can do their primary job of killing, maiming, destroying, and blowing shit up.

Union Backs Down

The UAW has changed its mind about allowing Marines to use their parking lot ....

After telling Marine reservists who drive foreign vehicles or display pro-President Bush bumper stickers they no longer could use a parking lot at the United Auto Workers headquarters, union officials have changed their minds.

The union, which has offices near a Marine Corps Reserve Center in Detroit, reversed its decision after some people said it reflected a lack of support for the Marines and the service of reservists.

“I made the wrong call on the parking issue and I have notified the Marine Corps that all reservists are welcome to park at Solidarity House as they have for the past 10 years,” UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said in a statement released by the union.

Damn unions! Just when we were getting ready to drop a little “shock and awe” on their ass ....

More Union Madness

The UAW is pissed at Marines parking in their parking lot who don’t toe the union line ....

DETROIT—The United Auto Workers says Marine reservists should show a little more semper fi if they want to use the union’s parking lot.

The Marine Corps motto means “always faithful,” but the union says some reservists working out of a base on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit have been decidedly unfaithful to their fellow Americans by driving import cars and trucks.

So the UAW International will no longer allow members of the 1st Battalion 24th Marines to park at Solidarity House if they are driving foreign cars or displaying pro-President Bush bumper stickers.

Well, BMW has a plant in South Carolina and both Hyundai and Mercedes Benz have plants in Alabama (all non-union). Therefore we are declaring this “NATIONAL DRIVE A MERCEDES WITH A BUSH/CHENEY ‘04 BUMPER STICKER MONTH”.

Oh yeah, almost forgot .... and f**k the UAW.
