Jen’s TDFY

The world has gone to crotch!

Sweet, gentle, demure, young Jen, over at Demure Thoughts, lifts one fashionably stiletto clad heel and lets a big one rip.

I hope her life is going Ok. She’s been on quite a tear lately. But you know, I think it’s just some of that All-American Anger rising up. Hella yeah! You go!!

Today her TDFY is against politicians and other whiny girly men.

What the fuck is happening to men?  Guys, seriously… I was your biggest fucking fan.  I have surrounded myself with the XY crowd all my life.  Women have always worked my last fucking nerve with all their drama and all their goddamn girl shit.  For fuck’s sake!  The president of the United States of America is a goddamn vagina.

Not Fade Away

Les Paul dies at 94

Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

He had been hospitalized in February 2006 when he learned he won two Grammys for an album he released after his 90th birthday, “Les Paul & Friends: American Made, World Played.”

“I feel like a condemned building with a new flagpole on it,” he joked.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock ‘n’ roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the “tracks” in the finished recording.

Rare Sightings

Difficult to find, rare pictures of somewhat famous models not looking like junkies, beating victims, or freakazoids from planet Zarbov. What is it with the fashion industry anyway? Why is it that only Sports Illustrated can let pretty women look like pretty women, and then only in the smallest bits of swimwear?

image

Hey, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for smallest bits of swimwear. And the lady above could model moldy sawdust and make it look glamorous. So why would anyone want to mess that up?

A Refutation

“Those Evil Black Rifles are no good for hunting.”

Attitude espoused by anti-gunners and Jim Zumbo, who has since seen the light

The Rock River Arms Coyote Rifle

image

Well, no kidding. The .223 cartridge, son of the .222 and the .222 Magnum, has been a perfect medium to almost long range woodchuck and prairie dog blaster for more than 45 years. So here is an accurate, lightweight, reliable self-loading rifle that is made just for that purpose. Evil Black Assault Weapon? How can you say that? No carry handle, no bayonet mount. What’s your problem?

Here’s a review, courtesy of Miltary.com, of this rifle and several others just like it:

It is no secret to the predator hunter that the AR-15 style of rifle makes for a near ideal predator rifle. Callers have been using this rifle and extolling its merits for quite some time, but it hasn’t been until recently that the “rest” of the world has caught on. Now it seems everyone is realizing, simultaneously, that this family of rifles are great for hunting.
...
his is the only rifle of the group that clearly acknowledges its intended purpose — predator hunting. Of the group, it was my immediate favorite out of the box as it has some great features. Like the other two rifles, it sported a flat-top receiver with no sights. But like the M&P it had a front mounting block so iron sights could be installed. It had a similar grip structure to the Smith and Wesson M&P, which I prefer. The semi-custom pistol grip and skeleton stock made for a great combination, especially when combined with the rubber-coated Hogue free-floating hand guard, which is factory-equipped on the Coyote Rifle. The barrel is a 20-inch matte-blued model with a flash suppressor. But the biggest advantage of the Rock River over the other two models is the oversized trigger guard. ARs traditionally have a relatively small trigger guard opening and that can be a problem when the shooter is wearing heavy winter gloves. The Rock River Coyote Rifle utilizes a uniquely formed lower trigger guard plate that significantly helps open extra room. The factory trigger on this rifle was phenomenal.
...
All of the rifles performed admirably, with a slight accuracy edge going to the Rock River Coyote rifle. In addition to being a good shooter, it also had other features I liked, such as the skeleton stock, rubber-covered hand guard, large trigger guard and soft pistol grip. If I could offer suggestions, I would lose the flash hider and give the whole gun a camo dip, like the Remington. Not only do I like the look, it does offer an advantage for staying hidden and helps non-black-gun folks see what these rifles can do without letting their misconceptions get in the way.

Oh, in and case you might need to hunt predators much larger than woodchucks, perhaps even large game animals with antlers, Rock River makes their own version of the venerable but mostly passed over AR-10. They call theirs the LAR-8, and it comes in stubby, standard, and varmint versions. For those not in the know, this is a larger version of the AR-15 that fires the .308 cartridge, which is a full power deer hunting round.

image

Oh noes!! A real high powered assault weapon!

Run for your lives before it starts indiscriminately spraying bullets!

Like every other company that makes AR-15 style rifles of any kind, Rock River Arms has a months long backlog. But you’ll never get one unless you get in line. Oh, and lot of companies can put a camo finish on your gun. Or your pickup truck’s dashboard!

Thank You Michigan

Horry Clap, who the hell votes for these loonies? Senator Debbie Stabenow (D) sounds just as crazy as Babs Boxcutter, Queen Nancy, and Stuart Smalley. Are the voters asleep? Do they just not listen?

“Climate change is very real. Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I’m flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes.”

Here’s what’s really scary, at least to those of us with both feet on the ground: Stabenow sits on the Senate Energy Committee.

At this point, all you can do is laugh. Or cry.

Please America, stop electing lunatics to office. Please.

Read a bit more here; this isn’t her craziest idea by far. Like, extending Social Security benefits to illegal aliens. Little things like that.

Hate Crime Laws

David Horowitz on Hate Crime Laws

Sorting Americans into distinctive racial, ethnic and gender groups, while designating whites and heterosexuals to be their “oppressors” makes the latter into legitimate targets of hate themselves. It thus becomes a way of exacerbating, rather than correcting, the social disorder.

It is time to go back to the wisdom of the Founders who wrote a Constitution without reference to ethnic or gender groups. They did so in order to render us equal before the nation’s system of law. It was an imperfectly realized ideal then, but that should be no excuse for abandoning the ideal now. We need to end the vicious libels of political correctness that have percolated their message of anti-white racism into our mainstream culture. The vast majority of white people do not hate or oppress black people, just as the vast majority of heterosexuals do not hate or oppress gays. We need to single out those individuals who do, whatever their race or gender — for condemnation and social ostracism. And we need to do the same to individuals who belong to minorities and are haters themselves. Most of all, we need to go back to the task of treating all Americans as individuals first, and as members of groups only secondarily, if at all.

A little more here.

No kidding. “Hate crime” is more than just totally unconstitutional. It’s morally wrong. The same laws apply to all of us, always. No special rules for special people, ever, of any kind.

THE FIGHT OVER HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA.  THE NEW UNCIVIL WAR?

I try to be scrupulous with regard to my postings and not do the same thing at BMEWS, as I do over at Vilmar’s blog.  I think there’s so much out there, that there’s enough to cover a dozen blog sites and do a hard copy newsletter as well. ( which I don’t) You know that from the headlines in your local papers come to think of it.
In fact, often times I will present something that happens here, and some of you write and say not to feel like the Lone Ranger and give examples of lunacy at home too.

Well gang, this is one of those times I have to post the same thing at both places because I’ve been listening to the radio and reading the papers with reports from America on health care.  I’ve been hearing things and thinking about what I’ve been listening to and wanted to express my feelings but mostly all of you have been doing that for me.  Until last night and again this morning.

Last night I heard a radio report on the fight over health care in the USA.  Both sides were being interviewed by reporters over there. AND ... they broadcast here what you folks have been hearing and seeing on the media in the USA.  But when I read a piece in the morning paper by one of their ppl, I just had to write something no matter how awkward to say hey, wait a minute. And so I was going to post the article with a brief intro from me. But I ended up writing a lot more then I expected to, and honestly feel the need to share it with BMEWS as well.

AMERICANS ARE BETTER OFF WITHOUT AN NHS

That’s the headline in our morning paper on the comments page by one of their reporters who is covering the heated and it seems vitriolic argument on the subject back home.
He makes some good points I believe, and especially with this as his closing paragraph.

Americans are much less tolerant than Britons of being told what to do. Although most do not like the health system, they view the alternatives with alarm. Ultimately, the Right’s overheated rhetoric about the NHS might damage a perfectly valid case against a partial state takeover of health care that could limit choice, stifle innovation – and still do little to tackle costs.

(see extended text for his entire article)

Wow, what an explosive issue this has become.  As I have mentioned
in the past, things that happen in America, and not just crime stats, get a lot of coverage in the UK.  Lately, our health care issue is making the news because of reports in the states that have used the NHS here, as an example of things that do not work.  Well guys, I live here. I have been in hosp. I have had to have tests for possible cancers. I hate to tell ya but the care I got the one night and a day stay in a Brit hosp. FAR exceeded the care I ever got back home in Riverside,CA. on a personal level.  I’m referring to the hospital staff, nurses etc.

I have issues with some things to be certain, on a doctor patient level.  Hell I can think of other things as well that may or may not be due to NHS, that we do far better in the states.  I think the result of one test I had was false but that was due I think to an individual rather the the system itself.  Now then, I could be wrong about that.  I did get the feeling in one case that they were using a one size fits all method with regard to my case.

I am not mounting a soapbox in favor of NHS for America, so please do not mis-understand.  But from what I have heard here on the radio where they are broadcasting American commercials about How Things Are In The UK, well.  There’s a bit of exaggeration I can tell ya and the thing of it is, ppl at home with zero experience of things here listen and believe it. And I think that is wrong.

One other thing I should say. Re. the Stephen Hawking thing in IBD.
Or maybe Hawking said it as well.  Fact is ... although he may have needed NHS to survive in his early years, and survive he did with NHS, just what the heck is he still doing on it?  This guy now has oodles of money.  He should surely not be on NHS today.

I believe further that NHS is paying for things they shouldn’t pay for, but I suppose that once things become entrenched they tend to stay that way.  The old expression, “there’s nothing new” or “nothing ever changes” comes to mind.

Nothing makes me angrier then hearing some would be expert on my country spouting off on “how things are there” (meaning USA) when they’ve spent little or no time in the states.  Or got their info from a cousin whose friend’s friend just came back from the states.
Well, I imagine there might be a few Brits who are shaking their collective heads at what some of our people are claiming about the NHS .  It isn’t perfect by any means.  It can be very wasteful as well.  But it works for these ppl. Sure it does.  The population is what?  Some 60 or so million? And America is .... ?  And those long wait times you are reading and hearing about are not exactly true as presented.  Sure, there’s always some truth to build a case around. But must we sacrifice accuracy?

It is far too easy to get on the welfare and NHS rolls here.  The left is great at that.  And the left has been in power since ‘97.

I am not saying it can’t be overhauled or improved. And hell, maybe it can’t.  But I really do wish that if my people on the right and heaven knows I am on the right of things, I wish they wouldn’t use the NHS here as the example in the the manner they do.
Because they are NOT telling the whole story. Or at least, they aren’t being wholly accurate in what they do convey.
And that only shoots ourselves in the foot.

I’ve had my say, I guess now I’ll stand by for the flames.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF A SHOT LIKE THIS? I HATE EM BUT DARN THIS IS CUTE ‘N’ FUNNY TOO.

Kicked off yesterday with a humorous toon so why not today as well?

Squirrel is surprise star of holiday photo

Melissa Brandts and her husband were surprised to find a squirrel posing with them in a photo taken on holiday.

By Our Foreign Staff

The couple had set the timer on their camera while posing at a lakeside in a national park in Canada.

Just as they were about to be captured on camera the cheeky squirrel popped up in the foreground and stole the show.

The picture was taken at the side of the stunning Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park, Canada.

Mrs Brandts said: “We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intrigued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot.”

The picture was submitted to the website of America’s National Geographic magazine.

‘It was a once in a lifetime moment - we were laughing about this little guy for days!’ said Mrs Brandts.

I’d call it Malice

Kevin and Polykahr point out the not-quite obvious on Obama’s health care plan:

Heinlein’s (or, if you insist, Hanlon’s) Razor:

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity, but don’t rule out malice.

Then there’s Grey’s Law:

Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.

And Rick Cook’s admonition:

The key to understanding the American system (of government) is to imagine that you have the power to make nearly any law you want. But your worst enemy will be the one to enforce it.

Read the one here

Then read the other one here

... yeah, what they said.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
