When a war is being waged in the home of the enemy I don’t have a problem with civilians getting hurt and killed. They are the family, friends and supporters of the enemy, without whom the terrorists could not operate.
The only way to stop Hamas is to make the consequences of their actions so horrible to them, their families and their society that they are unwilling to pay the price for continued provocation.
Clarity, accuracy and pithy- Melanie Phillips has it all and top of that- she’s right on each point. The people of Gaza have elected their tribal leaders and, surprise surprise, look at the consequences. It is about time that the tables turned.
Hamas should thank their lucky stars the Israelies dont have a General Sherman in the IDF. Now there was a man who knew how to fix the wagons of the incalcitrant enemy.
There are many in the UK that seem to have forgotten the Blitz.
Where V1’s, the Infernal Buzzbombs and the V2’s rained Death upon London.
It might be helpful if those in the UK that Criticise Israel remember the Blitz,
For the Ongoing Barrage by Hamas is the same thing.
The critics of Israel in the US might remember the lessons from history as well.
WOW, what progress, The MSM printing the hard truth, might there be hope yet? Yesterday I asked if anyone in England has any balls and one pops up, great.
Is this a new article by Melanie Phillips? Because I could swear I read the exact same words from her a couple of years ago.
Chris, you may want to send some of your weaker representatives a present. Expensive though.
Ms. Phillips is spot on about nearly everything, as opposed to Rabbi Lerner, who has taken the concept of compassion and turned it into a suicide pact.
Historically, the only way to make peace with the Palis has been to hammer them into the ground militarily, with well in excess of 20,000 Palestinian deaths plus various casualties, including lots of women and children. This isn’t my usual loathing for the Palis, this is a bit of history rarely discussed.
Quick history lesson. Up through the 1970’s, the Palestinians were confined to refugee camps in various Arab countries, including Jordan. They were generally no allowed basic rights in their host countries. For example, they couldn’t own land. In September, 1970, the Palis revolted against King Hussein of Jordan. King Hussein unleashed the Jordanian army and airforce on them. By the following July, the surviving Palis had relocated to Lebanon (they were successful in destroying Lebanon - look it up). In the process King Hussein killed tens of thousands. The exact number will never be known. The Palis have not messed with Jordan in over 35 years. That is how you make peace with Palestinians. Grind their d**ks in the ground until they understand that you are NTBFW (Not To Be F***** With).
Does anyone remember the Black September terrorist group? They were named after the September 1970 uprising and King Hussein’s near genocidal response.
Dealing with Palestinians is a lot like the old story about training a mule. First you’ve got to get his attention. In the long run, the careful, measured response of the Israelis may ironically create more death and destruction than a few heavy air and artillery strikes would. A heavy, all out attack will get the Palis to make peace. Anything less and the Palis will think you are weak and continue to make trouble, resulting in more deaths over a longer time.
P.S. Not to denigrate the Daily Mail, but on this side of the puddle, it doesn’t count as mainstream media. Last weekend, the L.A. Times did a lead article on the latest conflict. Most of the article was written by a Palestinian reporting from Gaza. You can guess how he slanted his article. This was on page 1.
